Jaclyn Exit Interview: "I knew Natalie won"
We chat to runner up Jaclyn about her game play and thoughts on the latest season of Survivor.
Congratulations on making Survivor’s top three. How are you feeling?
It was tough!
Why did you apply to be on Survivor in the first place?
I got a Facebook message from a casting director asking if I was interested in applied for The Amazing Race. Through the audition they suggested I apply for Survivor with my boyfriend Jon.
What was it like playing the game with Jon?
It was tough. It was great for our relationship. We learnt a lot about each other.
Did you walk into the game with a particular strategy?
We didn’t want to be seen as leaders. We were trying to not be too good at challenges, and obviously not be too terrible. Neither of us thought that we would both make it to the merge.
Stepping into the finale, were you feeling confident?
I knew Natalie won. She played a great game. I heard that Reed had voted for me, but I wasn’t sure. That was nice.
Did you know what you would say before your final plea?
I knew that my game play wasn’t seen as being strong as Natalie’s. I just wanted to let everyone know that Jon and I made every decision together. He was more social, and I was more in the backend strategizing.
What do you think about Natalie’s win?
She played a great game. She’s awesome. I’m so proud of her.
You’re now engaged…
We’re thinking of getting married in August or September in 2015.
What are the chances of it being a Survivor themed wedding?
Zero!
Would you play Survivor again?
That’s a tough question. I would rather do it again than watch it. It’s really hard watching those edits each week. I didn’t have a mirror for 40 days; I had no idea what I looked liked!
What’s next?
We’re going to school. And planning the wedding!
