He said some of the
teams had to leave in the middle of the night to drive to the airport in
Billings which also leads me to believe it is a pit stop.

I'm not sure how many, but some teams flew from Toronto to Montreal on AC418 at 4:15 pm. We were informed that this flight "must" depart on time because Amazing Race films crews were going to be aboard filming the contestants.

ok one team arrived in montreal from chicago on flight NorthWestern 1792 at 5:00pm on July 30. One producer was with the team....they believed the other teams arrived from Toronto. The last flight the teams could have flown out from was direct from Minneapolis to Montreal - arrival time 22h30. There are 5 teams of 4 people left.

1. "RE: Season 8 Timings/Locations Thread #2"
The Toronto sighting was very much fun. We had tickets to cruise on the Kajama for 11:30. People are supposed to be checked in a half hour before sailing time. As we were walking along Lakeshore/ Queen's Quay at the intersection of Rees road a SUV stopped for the red light and a woman asked "where are the tall ships?" She had an Amazing Race clue folder in her hand. We told her it was up one block and to the right. We wished her good luck.
We ran to try and catch up to them. They were coming back around the power generating station at Harbourfront. My fiancee exclaimed "My god, they are racing with kids." They dropped part of their route info and another person picked it up and asked if they needed it. They said they didn't and had a new clue. I again yelled out good luck and the woman said "Look, it's our friend from before." (yes, I am kicking myself for not trying to buy the route info from the guy on the spot)

My fiancee and I went to board the Kajama and the officer said that only "people on the movie crew" were allowed on for awhile and said we would be delayed sailing. There were several people milling around, all with cell phones and binders they were hiding. We sailed out late.

When we returned to dock at 1:30, the same crew was waiting, but no teams. The ship headed back out for its 2:00 cruise. We hung around and heard them talking about needing shots of the CN Tower and needing to plan travel to Montreal. They went to the cell phones and were asking where the next team was and said it would be cutting it close because they had to board the ship for the next clue. Bert appeared 15mins later and they all left.

We were supposed to go the Jays game at 4, but instead got a camera and waited at the dock. The crew was back at 3:30, as was the Kajama. The crew boarded and climbed the foremast and put a remote camera up there. They were holding the boat. The cell phones rang and someone said "code red, code red" and ran off down the dock. The boat was delayed sailing for 20mins, but no other team showed up. The camera crew left and Kajama sailed.

We took several pictures of the activity, including Bert. As we were waiting after the boat sailed, the head of the crew came close by us and laughed at us. Thats why i am posting the spoiler. I would have not said anything and made this a nice private memory to enjoy while watching the show with my fiancee, but after sitting in the sun for 3 hours and missing a ball game to try and watch the show in action, only to be laughed at, I thought a spoiler was in order.

The Kajama was not due to dock again till 5:30, so whichever team was next was a full six hours behind.
The driving of cars with New York plates in Toronto makes me wonder alot. I think alot of the delay was due to the holding of Caribanna because when we left Toronto the Gardiner and 403 (the freeways into Toronto's downtown area from NY and or the airport) were jammed into parking lots.

Thats all the details I have. Looking forward to the end. I overheard the crew discussing a pit stop, but I could not make out if it was in Toronto or Montreal. But I heard the words climbing and CN tower, so I think a roadblock was close.

Discuss amongst yourselves and ttyl.

Maybe the people on the plane didn't know about TARFE; 3 teams of 4, when spread out in airplane seating, might be mistaken for 5 teams of 2.

This may be of interest. Checking on Airwise, flight 418 is not listed on July 30th although it shows up for the 29th and 31st. Could either be that the date is wrong or TAR chartered the entire plane for the race so it's not showing up.

Anyone that uses other sites to search for flights might want to check and see if they get the same thing.

It couldn't be a charter flight with that flight no. a charter flight would carry its own flight indicator.  So either information may be wrong, or the flight referred to could have been on July 31.

I've got a quick clue. When Rolly is swinging on the trapeze the sign says www.trapezium.qc.ca. Here's the address and a map:

Trapezium
2350 Dickson street - Studio 50
Montreal, Quebec

From what I caught in the preview:

Boating - either still in Montana or on the Niagara River below the falls
Airport - Pearson Int'l Toronto
Stadium - The Big O Montreal (Olympic Stadium)

And oh look Rolly does another task for his team.

So "place victoria"  is the french version of "victoria square"? Here's the subway map (http://www.stcum.qc.ca/English/metro/a-mapmet.htm). Victoria square isn't a hub or intersection, so maybe we can tie together a few tasks.

I am and i loved the sisters but the Bransons are much more deserving.  The Sisters are by far the strongest all female team, but i think they are also one of the least deserving female teams to do good, i only started to get irritated with them the last two episdoes maybe.  But i was really hoping last minute they would pull ahead of the Weavers but they didnt.  But much happier Bransons made it!

I am originally from Billings MT.  We have no jet boats/ jet boat tours in the region.  THere are 4 airlines out of Billings Horizon to Seattle, and Portland OR,  NWA through MSP, United through Denver, and Delta through Salt Lake City.  I was in Billings the entire month of July, but did not see the teams even though I was at the Airport alot due to a reunion.

The parking lot scene is probably Toronto. In the upper-right you can see "Lest..", which I'm guessing is Lester Pearson (YYZ).

That was my first thought as well, but by examining frame 35 (see the enlargement on page 2), Puddin was able to narrow it down to the Lachine rapids (with a loading point at the clock tower pier (http://www.jetboatingmontreal.com/english/index.html)).

The Amazing Race Finale To Visit Toronto and Montreal
It's confirmed. As CTV's eTalk Daily reported this past summer, The Amazing Race: Family Edition will travel to Canada. The final racers go north in next week's two-hour finale, airing Tuesday, Dec. 13 from 9 - 11 p.m. ET on CTV (check local listings). On tonight's eTalk Daily on CTV (7 p.m. ET) Ben Mulroney reports that the remaining three teams make stops in Niagara Falls, Toronto and Montreal before the thrilling million dollar conclusion.

eTalk Daily reports tonight that in next week's show, the racers jet boat in the Niagara Gorge, visit the National Circus School and Olympic Stadium in Montreal and race along Toronto's waterfront. Teams duke it out at Toronto's Pearson International Airport and also participate in a curling challenge at an unspecified curling rink.

If it is the Niagara gorge, then the bridge might be the Rainbow bridge (http://www.niagarafallslive.com/rainbow_bridge.htm), and the local tour operator uses jump-sheep (saute-moutons) boats as well (see the photo gallery (http://www.whirlpooljet.com/07_video/index.cfm)), then we may have to rethink the Montreal stuff.

They might be entering from the St. Jacques kiosk.
(Still don't know what they might be doing there. As I mentioned before, it's not a hub or intersection, and the area surrounding (http://www.stcum.qc.ca/English/metro/a-m14.htm#Centres) the station looks like a dull metro high-rise section)

montreal has a large set of inner connecting tunnels. when i would be there on business, i used to be able to get from my hotel to windsor station without going outside on the really cold days. there's a good chance that the victoria square is linked in as well and they may have to scamper around there for something too.

so excited to see places i actually know. we lived in toronto for years before we moved out west. and we visited the outlaws in montreal and i worked there occasionally. yahoo!

The Amazing Race'

Next week's season finale of "The Amazing Race" won't actually be the finale.
In a first for the CBS reality skeinskein, the "Race" will continue online after the action ends on TV. That's because producers taped a runner-up challenge in which the second- and third-place teams competed to win a new car.

Rather than air the bonus segseg on-air, however, CBS designed the challenge to be an Internet exclusive. As a result, the so-called "mini-race" will be featured exclusively on the Eye's Web site, CBS.com.

The six-minute seg will be available for streaming immediately after the West Coast broadcast of the "Race" finale wraps at 11 p.m. Dec. 13.

It's not the only Eye content going digital.

Amazing Race finish line in T.O.?

By STEVE TILLEY -- Toronto Sun

The Bransens of Amazing Race: Family Edition. The team was spotted at Union Station.
The Amazing Race is heading for the finish line -- and it could be in Toronto.

In the two-hour season finale of The Amazing Race: Family Edition, airing next Tuesday at 9 p.m. on CTV and CBS, the Linz, Bransen and Weaver clans duke it out for the $1-million grand prize that goes to the family that finishes first.

But will that be in U.S. or Canadian dollars? CTV yesterday confirmed what the Sun reported in September: The Amazing Race is leaving the United States for what will be only the second time this season, and it appears the series' finish line could be here on Canuck soil.

The preview scenes for this Tuesday's finale, while not identifying the locations, shows the families jet-boating in the Niagara gorge, searching for clues in the bleachers at Montreal's Olympic Stadium and racing through Pearson International Airport, with a Greater Toronto Airports Authority shuttle clearly visible in one shot.

The preview also shows the families participating in the very Canuck pastime of curling, and doing a trapeze challenge at Montreal's National Circus School.

Sun reader Andrew Bagley recalled running into the Bransen and Weaver families in front of Toronto's Union Station on July 30, where a hotdog vendor gave them a clue that directed them to Polson Pier, aka the Docks.

"The women looked at me and said, 'We are on The Amazing Race, we need your help, do you know where Polson Pier is?' " said Bagley.

"Like a true Canadian, I replied, 'Did you say Molson or Polson?'

Great find, Puddin.   |#'

That does match the hot dog spoiler.  Since both teams got there at the same time,  the four hot girls could have been the three Bransen girls and one of the Weaver girls and the family with kids being Walter, Ma Weaver and the other two Weaver childrens.

I read on another board that Weecama posts at, that the curling stadium is at McGill University (downtown Montreal).

Is it possible that the race goes to Montreal first, then Toronto?  There are a lot of tasks in Montreal where Meagan Linz is wearing a lavender top.  She's wearing an orange top in a Toronto ? parking lot and on the boat going down the rapids.

I can't see the Linzes being a day ahead so if all the teams are in Toronto on the 30th and the race ends outside of Buffalo on the 31st, I just don't see them having enough time to do all of the tasks in Montreal (trapeze, stadium, geodome, etc.) and then get to the park outside Buffalo.

ETA:  I also read something where the poster speculated that the teams were doing the same task in Olympic Stadium as was done in Sun Devil Stadium during TAR4?   Does anyone know what task that was?

the shuttle bus is one of the termal buses to get you from terminal to terminal. If they fly to Toronto and then go domestic, they would change terminals using the bus. If they fly in domestic and stay domestic, they stay in the same terminal. i'll have to take a closer look to see if it's the new terminal 1 or 2. (terminal 1 most likely as it's the newest.) they just opened up a new terminal 1 maybe two years agoish? haven't flown through it much yet. my daughters and i flew into terminal 1 (domestic) and used the link bus to get to terminal 2 (usa) this past summer.

but unless they change airlines, they wouldn't need to change terminals. not sure what that means in terms or arrival order? would they fly through toronto (terminal 2) to change to domestic (terminal 1) to get to montreal? then back?

here's a link where you can see the shuttle bus. also has the bus schedule.

You're right Puddin.  Sorry about that.  I mistook Megan's orange life presever on the raft for her top.

I'm still at a loss about how they can do so much in Montreal in such a short time and then get to the Buffalo area.

If they fly to Montreal late on the 30th, they probably do the stadium task since it's dark outside.  That leaves the other tasks for the 31st.  They must take a charter flight to Buffalo on the 31st.  There's not enough time to drive or fly commercial.  That would also mean that they don't do the raft ride on the last day (31st).

I will type here what I have been telling all the boards.  The Jet Boats are just more proof of the JOe Davis visit.  The Whirpool Jet Boats dock out of Lewiston NY (as well as Niagara on the Lake, Canada).  They travel through the mighty Niagara River Rapids.  The dock on Water St. the end of Center St. in Lewiston.  If you were to go up center street on block, and make a left onto River Road, you could follow river road all the way to Joe Davis...a total trip time of less than five minutes.

It looks as though the Weavers are mugged. As they are carrying blue plastic bags around.

Krazi they were already mugged  :lolCX: , they are probably lugging around what clothes they have left since they have no camper or car yet to store it in  ,same goes for the Bransens seen toting a small black bag .
Too add : fwiw I mentioned further up that the Bransens are the only team without coats as far as the vidcaps we have are showing us , did they ditch them or lose them? They did have coats at the Wagon Detour last episode .

NiagaraFalls ,I wan't to thank you and credit you for the Joe Davis park spoiler , you along with BuffalloNY (http://forum.realityfanforum.com/index.php/topic,5916.45.html) poster as well , he posted pictures of the clue box near the falls . Great Spoiler  Guys !!!  :999:

They might be entering from the St. Jacques kiosk.
(Still don't know what they might be doing there. As I mentioned before, it's not a hub or intersection, and the area surrounding (http://www.stcum.qc.ca/English/metro/a-m14.htm#Centres) the station looks like a dull metro high-rise section)

spec blatantly swiped from another board (twop thanks to mtlchickie)

The airport is about 15 minutes west of the downtown core, and the Olympic Stadium is in the East End. I suspect they will take the metro to either Pie IX or Viau station.

Edit: Based on the AOL preview, they use the Place Victoria metro, head to American Pavillion from Expo 67 on Ile Notre Dame (faster to access it from the metro which will most likely mean to switch lines at Berri-UQUAM), and the trapeze place is here

Thanks for all the good info, Niagara Falls.

A couple of questions for you if you don't mind.

What time of day on the 31st were you at the park?

How long would it take to get to Lewiston from both Toronto and Montreal (by plane or car?)

Puddin, I wouldn't be surprised if there was no NEL leg.  This could be kind of like TARs 5 and 6. The final 3 teams race to the pit stop and only stop to wait on a flight or hours of operation.

I know it would but stupid to mug a team at this point but it was done TAR7 with 3 teams reamaining , thanks to Raceygirls airport pics U&J were seen carrying a plastic bag only . also Phil said something about one of several pre-determined NEL's when the Weasels were mugged so who knows your guess is as good as mine Pedaler  :lolCX: ?

Puddin, here's the map.

We will have to sort out the timing of how to get from place to place.  The sans NEL idea may be essential for stuff to fit.

Amazing racers passing through Canada again
Canadian Press

TORONTO (CP) - Next week's two-hour finale of Amazing Race: Family Edition will see the remaining competitors heading into Canada.

CTV's ETalk Daily says that in next Tuesday's episode the racers will jet boat the Niagara Gorge, visit Montreal and race along Toronto's waterfront. There will also be a sequence shot at Toronto's Pearson International Airport.
The hit CBS reality series airs on CTV in Canada.

Last year, Alberta was in the Amazing Race spotlight for the show's fifth instalment finale as three teams of globe-trotting contestants dashed through Calgary, up Lookout Mountain and down a run at Canada Olympic Park for a pre-recorded sequence that proved to be the turning point for the winners and losers.

Well, I was off a week in my finale date prediction, but I'll stay steady in my guess that the hot dog/ice cream vendors will be a TAR 7 team. Since Rob/Amber would be recognized too easily (and probably wouldn't want to do it anyway), I'm guessing it will be Uchenna/Joyce.

Alright, as far as Montreal-Niagara Falls, I have no clue.....Toronto is definitely the middle city.  It just has to be geographically.

To get from Toronto to NF, driving...an hour and a half if you are doing just above the speed limit (which is what i would guess they would be doing).   This of course is assuming border traffic is managable.  They could actually Win the game just by picking the right bridge.  The Rainbow Bridge vs the Lewiston Queenston Bridge (one out of NF, NY, the other out of Lewiston NY), they are less than five minutes from one another, but sometimes the traffic difference can be hours.  And you are talking on a sunday in the heat of summer.  This could be huge.

I was AT joe Davis until about 1PM....they definitely had not gotten there by then.  My "false" sighting at NF State Park with the decoy teams was around 3ish, I believe...which makes me think, they probably got to Joe Davis/Whirpool Jet Boat near the same area or a lttle after.

If Icould see the images closer up...and make out the buildings on the shore lines in the Jet Boat pictures, I could give you a very accurate time of day for the boat rides.

I also had an earlier question as to whether the log building challenge could be at joe davis..and I do say it IS possible...but there are not that many Evergreens at Joe Davis...its almost all maple

My guess is  Bransons do get mugged.  going with AR tradition every season at least 1 team has gone from first to last and it hasnt happened (unless you count Linz going from 1 to last at Yellowstone witch shouldnt even count becuase they didnt reach the matt in last but on CBS it says Yellowstone was the ending point for that leg) so my guess its either they come in last or the first place team in the second to last leg come in third place.  But i think Bransons are third place both legs(but you can never know) becuase if they do come in third both legs i will bet Weavers come in second both legs, and Linz first both legs making this the worst finale ever so lets hope that doesnt happen.

Reply   *Weaver final leg spoiler*
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My aunt is visiting and she just happens to be a friend of Rebecca (oh god). She knows that I'm a fan of TAR so I decided what the hell and asked her if they won. Maybe Rebecca might have told her something

Answer: No, they came in 3rd.

I then asked her who won but she told me that she never asked.

In short, Weavers come in 3rd in the final leg and do not win.

Here is the webite for the Docks which is at Polson Pier in Toronto http://www.thedocks.com/ (http://www.thedocks.com/) The Docks is not generally considered Harbourfront which was mentioned in an eTalk Daily blurb.

If they had to take transit there they could have caught the Pape 72 bus which runs from Union Station to near Polson Pier.

There is also a spoiler somewhere about the teams being involved in a task on a boat (Harbourfront)

From the Toronto Sun article:

I have some doubts about this. The school moved into a new building in 2003 (see here (http://www.enc.qc.ca/en/school/building.asp)) which doesn't match the vidcaps well. The Trapezium found by Sups looks better.

Lets see if I can make this make any sense to myself or any of you.

The Niagara River flows North (bizarre, but it does, its not really a River, its actually a strait), but it flows north.  The BOAT rides south INTO the rapids.  That would mean on the left, would be the West, and therefore CANADA.  On the right would be EAST and therefore, the USA.

For Shadow References.  In the MORNING the Rainbows over the Falls are seen on the US side.  In the EVENING the Rainbows are seen from Canada.

If I had to guess, the Linz's picture looks alot earlier than the Weavers.  To me it seems the shadow is coming straight down on them with just a little extra from the west...making that around 3-4 in the afternoon local time (our sun was setting around 9PM at this time).  The Weavers seem to have a strong sunlight from the West.  There is even a glare on the left side of the screen, or right side of the boat.  The cloud cover was not that much that day, I do acknowledge it could be a factor...but my gut says there is at least an hour or two between these teams.

One last thing...why isnt that parking sign in both French and English?  I realize that not EVERYTHING in Canada is in both, but even at the NIagara border, ALMOSt everything is.

I think that picture of the Weaver girl running with water behing her is either at Harbourfront or the Docks. In both places you would be able to see Toronto Island in the background.

Toronto to Montreal

( So all these Toronto tasks must have happened on July 30th  ? )

we were in toronto downtown and we saw two of the groups getting a route info from a ice cream stand ( Hot Dog stand ?), there were 2 groups that went by both groups of 4. One four hot girls and the other a familly.

July 30
Andrew Bagley recalled running into the Bransen and Weaver families in front of Toronto's Union Station on July 30, where a hotdog vendor gave them a clue that directed them to Polson Pier, aka the Docks.

or in a nutshell

According to numerous online eyewitnesses, The Amazing Race 8's five remaining teams visited both Toronto and Montreal on Saturday, July 30. While in Toronto, the teams visited the Toronto Harbourfront and participated in a task in which they had to find the Kajama, a 164-foot three masted schooner that normally offers tours of the Toronto harbor on Lake Ontario. In addition to the various racing teams, The Amazing Race co-creator Bertram van Munster was also said to have been spotted on-location. After completing their visit to Toronto, the teams are said to have flown to Montreal, where they arrived around 5PM local time.

While it's unknown what the teams did in Montreal, the Tonawanda News newspaper picked up the racers' trail on Sunday, July 31. According to the News, the teams visited the American side of Niagara Falls, with eyewitnesses spotting the teams racing to a clue box set up at Terrapin Point on Goat Island in Niagara Falls State Park. The newspaper's eyewitnesses saw at least one team of four -- containing two adults and two children -- race down the nearby stairs and, with cameramen trailing and a nearby production assistant ensuring that no one interfered with the clue box before they arrived, grab an envelope containing the course's next clue. After that, other eyewitnesses reported that teams headed to nearby Joseph Davis State Park, where, although unconfirmed by park officials who apparently signed CBS confidentiality agreements, the The Amazing Race: Family Edition is rumored to have concluded.

Puddin, you it's not safe to assume anything.  That helps make it fun  ]][

Let me add to the confusion:

I'll start with these 3 pieces of information:

From Chateau's timeline :  The racers depart Billings on July 29.  The two earliest times the racers could arrive in Toronto are 4:29 and 8:00 pm.  (airwise.com)

Racers are spotted in Toronto on July 30 and fly to Montreal that afternoon.

The race ends at Joseph Davis State park on July 31 (possibly late afternoon per Niagara Falls)

The Bransens are shown doing a logging roadblock in daylight.  This would have to be either the morning of the 30th in Toronto or the morning of the 31st in Montreal.  I'm leaning toward Toronto because it appears that the Montreal events use the subway (or maybe a taxi).  There's a vidcap of extremely sweaty Bransens in a van so I'm guessing they're in the van after the logging roadblock.

It looks like the golfcarts are used to transport the teams around Olympic Stadium.  It's night time so this must be the evening of the 30th.

The Linzes are at the GeoDome in daylight.  That would mean to me that it's the morning of the 31st in Montreal.

The trapeze roadblock is in Montreal. That could be done either before/after the Olympic Stadium task  and after/before the GeoDome visit.

That leaves the curling.  Is there enough time in Montreal to do that detour?  Or are the Linzes and Weavers performing that detour in Toronto while the Bransens are doing the logging?

Finally, it's about 400 miles from Montreal to Niagara Falls.  Looking at flight schedules, they can't fly commercially in time to get to the finish line by dark.  Maybe they take charter flights to Niagara Falls International Airport.  It's less than 10 miles from there to the jet boats.

P.S.  I also realize that there are detours and/or roadblocks not shown in the previews like TAR7.

P.P.S.  I find vidcap 20 interesting.  Megan is at the Toronto airport all cleaned up with her make up on.   You wouldn't think there would be enough time to do all that in the middle of a leg.  Normally the women racers are all made up only at the start of a leg.

I'm trying to think of what the logs would be about. I can't think of anything here in Toronto that could be linked to that. All the tasks we know about in Toronto involve the water front and I can't think of anything there.

I don't know if it helps but by using the shadow on the cylindrically symmetric building in the background I calculated that this picture was taken between 11:52 am and 12:39 pm.  (also assumes July 31st)

Pedaler, here are flights that I have compiled for July 28th 2006.  That is the time-of-year/day-of-week equivalent to July 29th 2005.

I don't totally trust Airwise.  Wasn't it you who found that they had errors?

About the flights I put up above, I just checked with Airwise and they don't show the early morning Billings to MSP flight.

But BTS (http://www.bts.gov/cgi-bin/ntda/oai/DetailedStatistics/OAI_G1.PL) has it!

About getting to the Niagara Falls area, if it was early Sunday morning I was in Montreal and got a clue saying get to NF I would grab one of these flights:

And drive the 129 km.

MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA
By Bubbles442 on this board; also by ACGuy on Thread #1
Time: Afternoon, Saturday 30 July 2005
1. Crew sighted.
2. Teams rumoured to be around for the weekend.
3. Bubbles442 got some news from his/her supervisors.
4. There are five teams left at this point.
5. A team flew in from Chicago on NW1792, departing 9.00am and arriving in St. Paul at 10.34am, then departing again at 1.32pm and arriving 4.58pm in Montreal.
6. Other teams flew in through Toronto, on AC418 departing 4.00pm, arriving 5.10pm in Montreal. Not much difference there.
7. Flight from Toronto urged to leave on time as "crew was on board".

Of this information, item 5 is the bugaboo for me.  Because how could that team do the all Toronto tasks and catch a flight that lands in Chicago 30 to 60 before 9 am?  And WHY would they take a 2-connection flight to get to Montreal when there are so many direct flights from Toronto to Montreal?

I think this team may have arrived from the sequester location.

Hey, guys, I'm just stealing a minute or two. And how about this:

Teams arrive at Arnold's Green Meadow Ranch near Absarokee between 3 and 5PM on July 28.  This has been a long two or three days and we are now aiming for a demanding final two legs so TPMB give the teams a 36 HOUR PIT STOP.   Thus the teams will be leaving on the early morning hours of July 30.  They must drive to Billings Airport where they could catch the 6:30AM Northwest flight via Minneapolis to Toronto. The first teams arrive there at 1:14PM.But do nothing else but stay at the airport to catch a flight directly to Montral.  If our info is correct they are seen catching Air Canada flight 418 to Montreal which leaves at 4:00 PM. Arriving in Montreal they have time to complete various tasks and end up at a pit stop which is Non-elimination (of course) and someone else loses their duds (Bransens?? Girls at the log roll are all down to tank tops and black pants).

The following day is the day of days. They start off with task perhaps in Montreal, then catch flight back to Toronto (AC leaves hourly on the hour). Complete tasks in Toronto, get to the jet boats and the Niagara Rive gorge. Up to Goat Island, get final clue to race to Davis State Park for the final matt.

It bothers me if they would spend most of the day July 29 travelling to Toronto doing tasks (when were they spotted down by the docks?) get to a pit stop. Then going to Montreal in the afternoon of  July 30; July 31: complete tasks in Montreal and then fly BACK  to Toronto to do more stuff there and then get to Niagara Falls.  One very long day.

Oh well, back to the suitcases!

I just can't see it guys.  I think Toronto has to be in the middle of the two of them.  It just HAS to.  Why would they go to Toronto to Montreal which is north, then back THROUGH Toronto to Niagara Falls?  I mean....it has to go one way or the other.

Montreal-Toronto-Niagara

or (which I dont think it is, and am pretty sure it isnt) Niagara-Toronto-Montreal

Hey GMan!  Aren't you supposed to be at an airport somewhere?  We are struggling to come up with a sequence as you would have provided by now!
About the start day for the Leg, I think the Montana ranch spoiler specified that the teams left for Billings on the next day.

Here is another piece of the spoiler pile that I think is suspicious

Quote

we were in toronto downtown and we saw two of the groups getting a route info from a ice cream stand, there were 2 groups that went by both groups of 4. One four hot girls and the other a familly. The sign said for them to go to boston

because
1) the "four hot girls" it was probably the G sisters (eliminated already)
2) the "family" was either the Blacks or the Gaghans
3) I don't buy the argument that the "four hot girls" could be the three B's + Megan because "there were 2 groups that went by" really indicated that they were in their distinct groups separated by time and space with orbiting cameraman and audio man for each.

So I think these were decoy teams.  And do we know on which day this was seen?

Somewhere ,I think maybe Hi-Fi posted a sighting of the Gaghans in Toronto but got the feeling that was a made-up sighting . Not impossible that we had Decoys running through Toronto /Montreal because it sure looks like one was run through Niagara too , maybe to divert attention from the real teams being filmed at the Gorge ?

give the teams a 36 HOUR PIT STOP.
G'Man,  Like Chateau, I don't believe that there is a 36 hour pitstop.  Vidcap 47 is late evening in Toronto (Slowhatch).  Vidcap 29 is evening in Montreal.  One of those evenings must be the 29th and the other the 30th.  However, I do like your Montreal to Toronto to Niagara Falls theory.  (again, be careful eating that spicy soup  8-)')

How about this scenario?

After Montana, the teams are told to go to Montreal.  The Bransens, leaving first, get flights directly to Montreal.  The other two teams can't get the same flight so they must go through Toronto before going to Montreal.  After arriving in Toronto the Linzes and Weavers hurry to the airline counter to see if earlier flights are available to Montreal.  That's when you see Rolly and a Linz brother dash to the ticket counter.  It's also why Meagan Linz is still has perfect makeup on.  She hasn't done any racing yet.  They fly on to Montreal (29th) and begin doing tasks such as the Olympic Stadium one.

Sometime on the 30th they fly to Toronto and do tasks.

On the the 31th, as Chateau suggests, they drive to Niagara Falls, do the Jet Boat task, and then finish at the park.

P.S.  Can a shadow expert determine from vidcaps 1 and 8 the time of day the Bransens are doing to logging task?

WEBCLUES ~ ( yeah no press release yet ? what the heck are they waiting for ? )

1)Failing to find an entrance one family desperately tries to run their vehicle through a locked door .

2)One Family member suffers through several futile attempts at a frightening task while enduring constant ribbing from the sidelines .

3)After 600 consecutive hours together as a family , the final teams reach the end city . Who will win The Amazing Race ?

1) might be the carts ? a team trying to find their way into the stadium? " vehicle" just a guess .
eta: my guess the Bransens " I'm going to Kick someones ASS " , plus they look lost

2) Has to be Alex Linz , we see bro's & sis calling him a fat ass as he climbs the ladder and in one shot he does miss connecting with the trapeze dude and then  tease Alex to think like a feather .

LAST EDITED ON 12-07-05 AT 05:33 PM (EST)
I'm from Montreal and have identified some of the places visited. First the scene when Rolly falls on Alex is at Montreal Trudeau Airport ( see the "Achat de Billet" ticket counter). The airport is in the west Island, 20 minutes cab ride from downtown if there's no traffic.
As Futurama wrote in the East coast thread, the curling is at McGill University arena {we see the university logo) which is Downtown Montreal (Mc Gill green line subway station) Then we see them at Olympic stadium set up as a football field for the Montreal "Alouettes". They seem to have to look for clues in the stand. Olympic stadium is at PIE-IX station (we see one of the Linz in that station's corridor) on the green line, 9 stops east from McGill.
The Trapeze isn't at "Cirque du Soleil" as earlier speculated since we see the www.trapezium.qc.ca address under the trapeze platform. That is located in the east end of Montreal, at L'Assomption station (again green line 2 stops east of the stadium.
Then we see them on Ste-Helen's Island in the old United States pavillion used for EXPO 67. It's the Buckminster Fuller Biosphere. That is on the yellow metro line that connects with the green at mid point between the McGill and Pie-IX stations.

Of all those destinations, none are on the Orange line which is where we see the Weavers enter Place-Victoria Station, probably a 15 minute walk from Mc Gill and would force a transfer at the central Berri station which connects all three lines. Unless they had to go to the business sector for a task, going to Place-Victoria instead of McGill would mean at least a waste of 20 minutes and that's if you immediately reorient yourself correctly.

These dams, downstream from the Whirlpool, are the only place where I can imagine a wave of water coming from the boat's starboard (right) side.  And from the sun angle, the boat has to be pointed more or less north for the splash shots.  The dam on the US side could make the shot.  It could be arranged that the dam realeased a lot of water for the show.

On exactly the day of the finish I was in West Virginia, on a raft, in rapids!  Dang, I guess I picked the wrong river for my vacation.  The rafting company said that they have special water release days on some of their rivers.  When they do it becomes class V rapids.

This is one or more teams running to three parked SUVs at Lester Pearson  (Toronto) Airport.

It looks like early morning from the low sun angle.  But, it could also be end of the day sun.

Need to get an exact location at the airport to sort that out.

Pedaler, same thing goes for the time of the log rolling shots.  But my gut feeling is that it was early morning.

You guys dont know the NIagara Rapids very well.

If they got CLOSE to that Whirpool, they'd be dead.  Not even the jetboat would save you there.

Lastly...those rapids are bad enough that at any point between The start of Goat ISland at Niagara Falls State Park to the dock of that boat at Niagara River/Lake Ontario joining point would cause waves like that.  Everytime I climb to the bottom of the gorge, and stand at the edge, the jetboat FLIES by...and everyone is just soaked...that water is bad.

Those "Dams" are just outakes.  They push water that is diverted from the upper river through the power plant and out of those holes.  There are hundreds of those "dams", and although they were diverting about 30-40 percent of the water of the Niagara River at the time...it isnt enough to cause "waves"

I'm leaning towards orange on the boats ,even with the orange/blue vest , we see part of her sleeves

I'm guessing the photo is July 31 based on Linz family clothing.

Here's my latest scenario:

Linzes can't get direct flight to Montreal on the 29th so must change planes in Toronto.

A Linz brother is wearing a white top on the airport shuttle bus.  They ride the shuttle bus because they need to change terminals (international arrival to domestic departure)

He is also wearing the white top in his confrontation with Rolly.  Why would they race to the ticket counter in Toronto?  To catch the next flight to Montreal.

The Linz brother is wearing the same white top in the Olympic Stadium, at the Trapeze, and in the GeoDome.  Megan is always wearing a lavender top.  It also appears from a nighttime vidcap that Megan will sleep outside in the lavender top.

Sometime on the 30th, they fly to Toronto.  Like TAR7, the race eventually halts because of an Hours of Operation.

Overnight, Megan changes her top and so does her brother.  She is now wearing an orange top and the brother is no longer wearing the white top (see Jet Boat).

Based on Chateau's analysis, the first task on the 31st is down at the waterfront.  The teams complete that task and then drive on to the Jet boats.

P.S.  A spoiler described seeing Bert and others on the Kajama on the 30th.  Maybe that was just a dress rehearsal for the 31st.

and the clue they receive from the Hot Dog vendor at Union station , perhaps after the waterfront task , is like EP1 where they received a clue to the first task and now receive a clue to their last task .

sold on the idea that the Bransens do the logging whatever DETOUR and the Weasels & Linz chose the Curling DETOUR

also good idea Pedaler ,i never understood how a team could be 6 hours behind anyway

I mean its IS possible, because they have to ride BACK...but here is a spoiler for you from the NIagara Gazette:

http://www.niagara-gazette.com/local/local_story_345004915.html

"One of the few things Percy was able to glean was that the boat transported the teams from Niagara-on-the Lake to the U.S. side of the river after they flew into Toronto"

So that takes care of that.

Thanks for the info, Niagara.

I have a couple of questions for you.

If the racers drive from Toronto to Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario :

Is taking the jetboat a legitimate (legal) way to cross the  border?

How long does it take to cross on the JetBoat?

It would not be legit for you or I.  That is a national boundary.  You are talking about customs, all that stuff.  Even the Maid of the Mist, the docks are right across from one another, but you never take off from one and dock at the other.  It just isnt legit.  I am sure the Race got special clearance.

LOGISTICALLY its possible.  So I am sure they did it.  For us though, no way in heck.

I am GUESSING they did this because they didnt wanna have the teams wait at the border.  That could have been HOURS and HOURS.

I am guessing (since the docks are parallel to each other on the Niagara River) that they simply began the ride from the Niagara, ON dock and Parked in the Lewiston, NY dock after the ride.  The ride is 45 minutes...so...I mean, I would think that you would have to be that far ahead.

It looks lavender to me.  Pink to you?  I'm still trying to process what Pedaler wrote so forgive me if this conflicts.  But based on the lavender shirt arriving at the Toronto airport and headed toward SUVs at what may be early morning (that's a mouthful) I think this IS the Linzen and Weasels arriving back at Toronto on the 31st for the dash to the finish.

I still have not got a good location for that airport shot.  Part of the problem is that Google Earth has an old image that has the airport under construction (Terminal one).  Any experts know which terminal a flight from Montreal would land at?

Let me know where I got mixed up.  I know I am.

Adding more:  If Pedaler is correct to dismiss the team sighting at the Kajama as a decoy [I really like that sighting because littering a used clue is definitely something the Weasels would do!] then the only thing to account for is why would Megan change her shirt on the way from the airport to the Habourfront?

Maybe it was due?  Maybe she wanted to be wearing she "Team" shirt for the finish?

On the littering of the clue, actually that does seem like something that the decoys are supposed to do.  So maybe it was not the Weasels after all.

Pedaler, I am starting to like your plan!  I put up an updated Timeline that shows a possible scenario.

Puddin, I think the bridge seen in the promo is the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queenston-Lewiston_Bridge).

The Rainbow bridge is closer to the falls and the water gets too dangerous getting to that bridge (according to Niagara Falls' statement).

Yeah I am pretty sure that is the Lewiston Queenston Bridge.  It is either that or the Whirpool Bridge...the Whirpool Bridge is right above the Whirpool (ironically enough), which is the whirpool that this jetboat gets close to.  But I still think it looks like the Lew-Q.

Definitely not the Rainbow...you would see the falls in the background if it were.  The Rainbow Bridge is about 300 yards from the the first of the waterfalls!  Plus they'd be dead if they were that close to the Rainbow bridge, because they would have gone over the whirpool.

A Team Tries to Crash Through a Locked Door on The Amazing Race Finale  12/12/05

AFTER 25 DAYS, 50 CITIES AND MORE THAN 600 HOURS SPENT TOGETHER AS A FAMILY, THE FINAL THREE TEAMS MAKE A MAD DASH TOWARDS THE FINISH LINE AND THE $1 MILLION PRIZE, DURING THE TWO HOUR SEASON FINALE OF "THE AMAZING RACE 8," TUESDAY, DEC. 13 ON THE CBS TELEVISION NETWORK

Immediately Following the West Coast Broadcast of the Two Hour Season Finale, the Second and Third Place Teams will Compete in a Bonus Mini-Race, Which Will be Streamed Exclusively on CBS.com

"25 Days, 50 Cities, And More Than 600 Consecutive Hours As A Family" -- The tensions mount and every second counts as teams race towards the finish line and the $1 million prize, during the two-hour season finale of THE AMAZING RACE 8, Tuesday, December 13 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Phil Keoghan is the host of the series.

When one team can't find the entrance to the building that holds their next clue, they desperately try to run their vehicle through a locked door. Meanwhile, one family member struggles to complete a high flying Road Block while enduring constant ribbing from the sidelines. Every decision and every stroke of luck could make the difference between $1 million and second place as one family will be crowned the winner of The Amazing Race 8.

For the first time, the teams who finish in second and third place during the two hour-season finale of THE AMAZING RACE 8 will also square off in one final challenge for the chance to win a brand new 2006 GMC Yukon XL. Video footage of the entire bonus mini-race will be streamed exclusively on CBS.com, the official website of the CBS Television Network, immediately following the West coast broadcast of the finale (11:00 PM, PT).

In the exclusive CBS.com bonus challenge, the second and third place winners of THE AMAZING RACE 8 will compete in a mini-race that will require teams to recall specific challenges and locations from this past season. The team who's first to complete the challenge correctly will drive away in their very own 2006 GMC Yukon XL.

Which I doubt highly, but if i'm wrong: atleast i'll be able to verify you're not being a liar liar pants on fire, so its a plus eitherway.

Okay Puddin.   </]

I think both Liznes and Weavers arrive in Toronto at the same time (just after sunrise) because they get to the SUV parking lot at the same time.  I think the info about a Weasel-like and a Bransen-like team getting the hot dog clue is decoy.  Same with the person who saw a team at the tall ship location (because it was on the wrong date).  The splashy shot of Linz and Weasels look to be almost same time.  I can't say Weasels are later than Linzes because the boat's directions are not the same in the two shots.  Close, but not the same.  The Weasels sunshine seems to be a little later (from a more southerly direction) than the Linz's but the boat is pointed in a direction that would cause about the same effect.  The cheapo camera wide-angle lens distorts the images so much that I can't reconcile the sun's angle against the boat's direction.

So all I can say is it looks about the same time for both teams.

I think the Bransens arrive in Toronto on a later flight.

The only thing I am using to decide who comes in second is the grandma auntie report of 3rd place for the Weasels.   :keetaC:

So I suppose that the Weasels mess up after docking on the US side and the Bransens pass them.

Buffalo salesman's mother is the only one talking about 'Amazing Race' finish

12/13/2005

  By ALAN PERGAMENT

I just love the media rules of reality TV. I can't talk to the Buffalo salesman, Nick Linz, whose Cincinnati family is among the three finalists in the two-hour finale of CBS' "Amazing Race" (9 tonight, Channel 4).
He's being silenced until Wednesday morning after the $1 million check is presented on the American side of Niagara Falls in tonight's finale.

But CBS did allow me to talk with Nick's mom, Terri.

It's a good thing, too. I expected a ton of e-mails from Nick's co-workers as "Amazing" went on, but they never materialized. All I knew about him came from a Cincinnati newspaper story that said he "was the bruising fullback on the 1998 runner-up high school team in Ohio, St. Xavier."

After talking to Nick's mom, I understand why my e-mail box wasn't overloaded. Mrs. Linz said Nick works for two companies in Amherst that specialize in packaging and shrink labeling, Tri Pack Sleevers and Packstar. They are co-owned by Nick's father, Tom, who lives in Cincinnati, and has two partners, Andy Sharp and Helen Ma, in Buffalo.

Mrs. Linz added that the multimillion dollar companies are expanding, and Nick will soon be moving to the West Coast. That suggests the family doesn't need the prize money.

Wrong.

"Of course, he does, everybody could," said Mrs. Linz, noting Nick is one of seven children. "They all have college loans."

The Linz family was approached by a representative of "Amazing Race" while they were on a family vacation in Cancun.

"We were all sitting around and someone said, "You look like a nice family' and asked if they wanted to do it," said Mrs. Linz. Nick, 24, Alex, 22, Megan, 21 and Tommy, 19, eventually went online along with thousands of others and applied.

"They did it right at the deadline," said Mrs. Linz. "That's typical of my family - procrastination."

Oh, mom.

They were chosen to appear and immediately took the colors (orange and black) and cheer of the Cincinnati Bengals and dubbed themselves the Who Dey Team.

"It's "Who dey think is going to beat those Bengals,' " said Mrs. Linz, explaining the cheer.

So far, the Linz family is having as good a year as the Bengals.

To be honest, I haven't watched much of the eighth edition of the Emmy-winning series. The buzz on this edition was worse than the buzz on the marriage between another Cincinnati native, Nick Lachey, and Jessica Simpson. It's been called, uh, dull.

"Not by everyone," said Mrs. Linz. She is proud of the weekly cheers she gets from friends and viewers who tell her how much they have enjoyed watching such a nice family.

"I find myself a little humbled," she said. "They all say how wonderful it is that they are kind to each other and are having fun together. They consider it a lifetime experience."

After watching last Tuesday's semifinal, I understand some of the criticism. The final four may have been the least diverse group on any TV show since the early years of "Friends."

It consisted of four white families. The Linz Family is composed of Nick, his two brothers and their only sister. The Bransens (dad and three daughters), the Weavers (a widowed mother and her children) and the Godlewskis (four sisters) rounded out the final four.

They built teepees or put four wheels on a covered wagon they took for a short ride, had their pictures taken at a saloon named after Buffalo Bill's daughter (Irma) and looked for colored golf balls on a course.

The Linz family led for most of the hour, but blew first place when they forgot to look for a fourth golf ball in the most likely place - the hole. That was so Buffalo.

Not that the Linz family talked much about Buffalo. The Queen City they mentioned was in Ohio. That's natural since they are from Cincinnati, which also calls itself the Queen City.

The Godlewskis were way behind for most of the hour, though there was some brief suspense when the Weavers were stopped for speeding. They ended up with a warning and earned third place.

The most interesting aspect of the semifinal for Western New Yorkers probably came during the promos for tonight's episode, which revealed they take a jet boat ride in the Niagara River, and there is a curling competition.

The episode was filmed locally on July 31, with the show sending some "Amazing" fanatics off on a wild goose chase to Toronto and Boston so the secret of who won was retained.

Since Nick lives here, you might think he had some sort of home advantage in the final leg that might help his family win.

But let's face it. If his family loses after coming so close to winning, it would make him seem more like a real Buffalonian.

Oh and it's wonderful that you like to share!  How else would we have gotten so much solved this season?  {|
At least now I can relax and take a hot bath before settling down for the 2 hour finale. Normally, I'm glued to this computer from now till the show starts.
I think the thing I'm most disappointed about tonights finale is -- couldn't they have found a race track in Canada for a roadblock?   /{}

Thanks puddin for the link.

I started to crack up when I found out it was a geography challenge and how the Weavers are so bad ad it! ((^

But, I have to admit, they did better then I expected.  Still, too much :lolCX:

I was so happy for the Linzes. Finally after so many seasons my favorite team wins.  |#'.  They really deserved this price.  The Bransen really amazed me on how well they fought until the last minute.  The Weavers I did not like.  Really they were annoying.

The episode was great.  And you guys had it almost all nail down.  Just the new locations that were not shown on the preview.

Hope that Feb. comes fast, I cant wait for TAR9 to start. I looks great. :holidayC:

I found the ending very emotional, with the Bransons and Linzes singing each other's praises.  When Wally choked up, I did too!  And to have him say how proud the Linz parents must be, and that he was proud of them too. Well, it was a very nice ending.  Anyone hear Carissa Gaghan yell "Wally!"?  And she hugged one of the Linz boys. So cute...

Then the Weavers showed up...

I did laugh at the thought of the Weavers trying to put together a geography puzzle, but I suspect by the time they reached it, the other teams had crossed the finish line.  The editing was a bit funky, it looked like Wally was right behind the Linz boy in the puzzle, but then the Bransens didn't get to the finish line for what seemed like several minutes after the Linzes.

Oh I forgot, it was very exciting for me to see the teams in Toronto. I've been there, and went to the top of the CN Tower (twice!).  Anyone who goes to Toronto shouldn't miss the experience, and I highly recommend the revolving restaurant in the Tower.  Beautiful view, excellent food!

Excellent Job folks!  At least I was right about the final destinantion.

As for the Niagara Falls Spoilers:  Wanna know those "three spotted teams"?  Look to the back of the Jet Boats when the other three teams are on them.  The Team I spotted I am 99% sure was on the jetboat with the Bransens.  My guess is just in case they sent those teams to Niagara Falls just as they got off the Jet Boat.

Nice article on the shoes  (http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentServer?pagename=thestar/Layout/Article_Type1&call_pageid=971358637177&c=Article&cid=1134601813085)

At the museum, 100 barefoot women were slowly pacing the All About Shoes exhibit and the Cinderella challenge was to find the one whose feet fit into a pair of purple, satin pumps.

"They were extremely, extremely secretive," said museum director Emanuel Lepri. "Even I didn't know exactly what was going on. We knew they would respect the museum as such and that they wouldn't do anything too strange in the gallery."

"But it was interesting to see these 100 ladies show up at 5 a.m.," he said.

Not even the women, who were hired actors, knew what they were doing there. Television crews took about 24 hours to completely plan and set up the piece. Lepri was able to oversee much of production, but even he was politely asked to go to his office when the contestants arrived.

When the Bransens got on their boat there was a teenage girl sitting on the near side of the boat and she actually turned her head to meet the camera.

Puddin, could you make some screen caps for me?   :prayer:

1) Linz at the top of the mast with camera looking down at the dock.
2) ditto for Rolly.
3) Overhead shot looking down on the map board at Linz start.
4) ditto for Linz end.

It's no team that I recognize (the foursomes sitting in back, I mean). Since anyone riding would have to sign a silence agreement (and since the boats were probably chartered anyway), that would rule out any tourists. My guesses: production types (&friends&family); or boat company people (&friends&family).

Good finds guys - remember "overweight mother, father, and two daughters" that I saw?  They must have gotten off the boat and ran to the Falls instead of to the Finish line.  That would mean that I saw the Weaver Family's Rear Riders...the ones that came an HOUR after the first TWO families.  The first two teams came to the falls an hour earlier (probably about how much ahead the Bransen/linz teams were)....this makes so much sense now that I am happy I wasnt delusional.  These three "faux teams" all ran a fake last leg.

Just confirming that the flag was on Polson pier. Compare the triangles (I think that's an H for helipad, but the resolution isn't good enough). So the spoiler was half-right; I don't know about Union Station, though. And I'm still trying to reconcile some odd bits of info about the Kajama.

Title: Talladega Superspeedway part of 'Amazing Race'
Post by: puddin on December 29, 2005, 05:32:54 PM
Talladega Superspeedway part of 'Amazing Race'

Brand integration is nothing new for CBS' Emmy Award-winning Amazing Race. For instance, this past season on the Amazing Race: Family Edition, 10 families of four sprinted across the country in GMC Yukons and logged on to America Online to receive clues from host Phil Keoghan. In previous seasons, teams have toted Travelocity gnomes as part of the competition. So it comes as no surprise that a visit to Talladega Superspeedway and the International Motorsports Hall of Fame afforded the track and its sponsors some valuable prime-time exposure.
Talladega Superspeedway earned the largest share of airtime from the October 18, 2005, broadcast, combining 39 seconds of exposure with 10 mentions to net $625,500 in comparable value. The International Motorsports Hall of Fame also fared well, earning $328,500 through three seconds of on-air time and seven verbal references as the teams searched the museum for a clue.

Some of the track sponsors profiting from the Amazing Race's visit to Talladega were Aaron's ($67,500), Carraway ($54,000), UAW-Ford ($49,500), Nextel ($36,000) and Pepsi ($27,000). Retaining walls were responsible for most of the exposure, visible as the teams pedaled multi-seater "party bikes" for a lap around the track.

Other posters have mentioned that sequesterville might be Panama, and the hill in the background (with the two towers) seems a match for Cerro Ancon.

??Huh?? I had to wade through pages like this (http://www.joycejulius.com/subscriber_support.htm#Exposure%20Time:) to get an idea of what the terms meant. I don't even remember Aaron's or Carraway and they probably paid good money for the placements. I tell you, I'm in the wrong business {l{! I could charge people ridiculous amounts for ads and tell them they'll make it all back in "comparable value"! ((^

Good call Slowhatch on The Cerro Ancon in the background.  I think the picture was taken from Las Bovedas in the Casco Viejo  (http://www.ipat.gob.pa/visita_panama/m_p_ciudad_a5.html) district.

Here are some Google Earth images.  The last one is a tilted view that looks like the Brock picture.
