AND WE ARE ON THE AIR! :cheer:

Previously on TAR, six teams flew from Almaty, Kazakhstan to Hyderabad, India for the first-ever titled MEGA-LEG! Five teams made an alliance on the second leg, and from then, helped each other... and took on their competition (Sorry Kaylynn & Haley.) But cracks began to form and a smaller alliance emerged. But the Mine Five continued to dominate. Now, the Mine Five is over and the competition heats up. Who will be eliminated next?

Volleyballers open their clue at 3:25 PM first. FLY TO Siem Reap, Cambodia!

Teams must pick up a gnome at an undisclosed location. :groan: Can we actually begin announcing direct locations instead of just an entire city?

Will & James depart 2nd minutes after Riley & Madisson. All are discussing the alliance about being on the same page of getting rid of De & Gary.

De & Gary depart 3:58 PM in 3rd. DeAngelo is interested to see the savage nature of the other teams. Hung & Chee depart at 4:26 PM in 4th. They are excited about the Travelocity Roaming Gnome. Aparna & Eswar are last to depart minutes after and discuss a take-no-prisoners attitude they will try to uphold for the next legs.

"It's anyone's game right now." - James

They fly off on the same airplane to Siem Reap.

Short intro. :groan:

We come back to a mad sprint to Psar Chaa Old Market. Hung & Chee meet a taxi driver called Spider. "Thank you Spiderman!" :funny:

Will & James arrive at the market first, followed by Aparna & Eswar. They try to find the clue with no luck. De & Gary and Riley & Madi get off the taxi.

Will & James find theirs first.

ROUTE INFO: Assemble a tuk-tuk, then travel by this mode of transport to Chong Kneas Floating Village! Throwback!

Everyone is attaching to hitch to the tuk-tuks at the same time. The Core Three are in the lead while De & Gary finally find their gnome in 4th. Aparna & Eswar are completely lost.

Eswar & Aparna get their gnome and leave in last from the market.

Riley & Madi, Will & James, and Hung & Chee get to the Chong Khneas Village.

Travel by boat to a floating Buddhist temple and donate the basket of goodies to the monks to receive your next clue.

De & Gary and Aparna & Eswar get to the Chong Khneas clues in 4th and 5th. All teams in boats!

"One small movement can mean a huge disrespect." Maddison
They rehearse what they want to do. Suddenly, their boat breaks down.

Hung & Chee catch up to them and surpass them for first. Will & James pass them as well in 2nd.

We come back to the volleyballers' shipwreck. Hung & Chee are adamant about their 1st place lead as James isn't too concerned about them.

Hung & Chee reach the temple first. They must follow a specific procedure of offering to receive their next clue.

DETOUR: Fish or Farm. In Fish, teams must haul in a net more than half a mile long. Then, gather 15 lbs of minnows to receive your next clue. In Farm, teams must prepare a garden to receive the next clue.

Hung & Chee do Fish while Will & James do Farm. Hung & Chee end up going to the garden because the boatsman drove them their automatically. :funny:

Hung describes her gardening experience back home as an advantage. Riley & Madisson, DeAngelo & Gary, and Eswar & Aparna reach the temple and choose their Detours - all Fish.

Hung is planting lemongrass while Will & James reach the floating farms. Will explains he had a garden, but got busy, and died. :funny:

Volleyballers reach the net and watch the locals as they do. The fish go flying. :funny: "Full tricep extension."

DeAngelo & Gary reach the Detour. Riley discusses U-Turning them if they get to the board first.

Panthers discuss maintaining a steady momentum in pulling in the net. Eswar & Aparna also begin the fishing task.

Will & James are looking at the example while Hung sees a papaya plant on instinct.

Riley & Madisson start hauling assnet to try to finish while the others are steady on their pace. Hung & Chee are getting tired. Will & James see everyone chose the Fish Detour and discuss the Twinnies' U-Turn strategy.

Volleyballers finish the net first and must collect minnows. DeAngelo & Gary get to the end of their line next, collecting more fish.

Riley & Madisson get their clue. Double U-Turn ahead, a handmade local version. Somewhere on a bridge.
DeAngelo & Gary also finish. Mad boating to the board.

Eswar & Aparna finish next and move on in 3rd place. Riley & Madi and De & Gary reach the island and find the Detour. DeAngelo & Gary U-Turn Eswar & Aparna.

Boat back to Siem Reap and go to Khmer Ceramics Center.

Riley & Madisson burn the board with the Twinnies' strategy. Eswar & Aparna reach the board and think it's game over for them. They hate them. Aparna shakes her head on the boat.

Commercial break.

Agree that the NFL team should have UTurned Will and James.  Will and James amongst others had planned to UTurn the NFL team anyway.

ADDENDUM:  The NFLs strategy that UTurning the brother and sister would give them a cushion did work out in their favor.  However, even if they had UTurned Will and James, the volleyballers would have UTurned the brother sister anyway, so the elimination result would have been the same.  The only difference would have been that the boyfriend team would probably not have come in 2nd.

And if DeAngelo reads the posts....Really DeAngelo?  What universe would make you think that the tiles would come off the mold without a prepreparation to separate it the tile from the mold?  You have to watch instructions and follow the steps.  The analogy to things in life is that a firm foundation is required otherwise subsequent steps will crumble.

We return to Eswar & Aparna consoling themselves and hoping everything will be okay. "They could've U-Turned the teams at the other Detour. They showed they are athletes with no brains."

Hung & Chee get a check and are correct on first try! They have to plant seeds from the gnome's satchel before receiving their clue. They move on to the board while Will & James are following just behind them. Both get to the board with James annoyed by DeAngelo & Gary getting to the board 1st.

Meanwhile, DeAngelo & Gary and Riley & Madisson are in their tuk-tuks to the Khmer Ceramics Center with a smug comment by Riley. Aparna & Eswar are at the Farm Detour and hate their guts.

Panthers and volleyballers reach the ROADBLOCK at the same time. ROADBLOCK: Who thinks they can fit the mold? One team member must create a ceramic tile. After proper completion, they must retrieve a key from the gnome's satchel to unlock a chest. Inside the chest are eight pieces of a ceramic slider puzzle that they must solve to receive their next clue.

Riley and DeAngelo are surprised with the simplicity of the process, though it is very hard to achieve.

Eswar & Aparna want to see their faces when they don't get eliminated. Hung & Chee reach the Roadblock in 3rd and Chee does the task. He is carefully placing colors inside the narrow iron grilles. Boyfriends get to the ceramics center in 4th. Will does the RB because he loves arts and crafts.

DeAngelo is struggling while Riley's tile can't come off and has to start over. Chee is confused how to get the tile off.

Eswar & Aparna get their check for the garden and are approved. "Let's get out of here." They progress back to the board and head back onto the mainland. "Hopefully it's a really long Roadblock."

Everyone is struggling with the ceramic tile. Riley and De find out they have to grease the mold before doing the entire tile. Will finds it very straightforward.

Riley finishes and gets his tile completed. Onto his puzzle.

Will finishes the tile in 2nd place and moves on to the puzzle. Chee is still struggling. DeAngelo too.

Riley finishes his puzzle and gets his clue. Race to the next Pit Stop at Angkor Thom! Last team to arrive WILL be eliminated.

Speaking of Will, he finishes the puzzle 2nd.

Chee and DeAngelo are still not understanding that they have to grease the mold. Gary wants to lay down while Hung watches Chee attentively.

Riley & Madisson reach the Pit Stop and are TEAM NUMBER ONE! They win a trip for two to Norway!

We come back to the Roadblock with the three teams. Aparna is still being a fiery ball of sass. :funny:

None of these teams are understanding the whole process. Suddenly, Chee and Eswar decides to go to watch the demonstration. Finally. Both understand it and now Chee finishes his tile. He moves on to the puzzle. DeAngelo finally notices the waxing of the mold.

Chee completes the puzzle and moves on in 3rd. Eswar and De are left. Gary is lounging back and letting Jesus take the wheel. :funny:

Gary finally completes his tile.

Hung & Chee arrive at the Pit Stop as TEAM NUMBER THREE.

DeAngelo & Gary reach the Pit Stop and are TEAM NUMBER FOUR. He says the goal was to get more time and they achieved that. He doesn't know if Aparna will understand.

Eswar & Aparna are the last team to arrive and have been eliminated from the race. They are proud of themselves and hope their parents are proud of them. They leave with their head held high.

Stay tuned for scenes from our next episode!

Idk the Leg was kinda... linear? Sure there was a Double U-Turn but both Detours were fairly procedural and the RB would've been if teams paid attention. Shout out to killer fatigue for making the race interesting :funny:

I agree with Bookworm. This leg was quite linear and team positions didn't really change throughout the entire episode. It was just a boring episode to watch. Both Detours were pretty straightforward and simple and the Double U-Turn was quite predictable. The RB was entertaining to watch, but if teams actually looked at the demonstrations and managed to follow the instructions correctly, then the Roadblock would of been done faster and would of made the leg even more linear then it already is.

Really can't stand the Beard Bros and I really hope they're knocked out next week. Hoping Hung & Chee or NFL manages to win the season, because Beard Bros and the Boyfriends are behaving a little like Dave & Connor and Justin & Diana (but a little less narcissistic then them both)

At least the "Mine Five" alliance is officially dead and now the "Three's A Crowd McLeod" is a little more bearable. Let's hope the final two episodes bring this season out of my personal bottom five. :(

As much as I love Eswar & Aparna (and Hung/Chee) way more than the other 3 teams, I don't get why she's mad at NFL...
They were the most logic choice: NFL didn't know for 100% that Hung/Chee and Will/Jame were not ahead of them, maybe both team already pass and decided not to U-Turn anyone. So if you want to make sure there is a buffer, then you U-Turn the team that you know 100% is behind you. Sure they could have U-Turned the volleyball bros, but I guess they didn't want to U-Turn them directly in their faces.

Same for Volleyball bros, it was kind of lame for them to say: we won't U-Turn NFL because they are right behind us. Don't be a coward.... Had they arrived first, they would have still U-Turn Eswar and Aparna.  BUT THE SMART THING to do would have been to U-TURN NFL, and then NFL would have U-Turned Eswar/Aparna also, because they knew 100% they were behind. Which would be their alliance of 3 would have been safe 100% (and the top 3) and in the end NFL would have been eliminated.
But they are big talk in confessional and all but won't do much in real life.

Aparna: Don't get mad now, cuz girl you weren't mad about it when the alliance carried you into the top 5, Yielded twice the blondes last week, etc. It's part of the game. I would be more mad at volley bro's for not giving them a fighting chance.

Yeah u-turning strategy of the NFL teams turned out to be their saviour. The siblings did make a good comeback, and had they U-turned the stronger teams, they might not have a chance to survive.

but then again all the DeAngelo had to do was watching the whole process of it

Considering James had made previous comparisons to TAR 21 when making the Mine 5, I guess a U-Turn block was inevitable.
Again fitting for the season, nothing wrong strategically but not the most entertaining. Though it would have been epic to have DeAngelo blow his lead that badly.
Not sure why every visit to Siem Reap needs teams to go to Tonle Sap.
The tile task was at least the most original.
Also, does every female greeter in Cambodia have to wear the same outfit? (Even international with Australia & Israel)

I certainly wouldn't go far as to say that the season is bottom 5; the tasks proved to be a big improvement from the TAR27/29 era, even if Cambodia/Colombia were disappointing. TAR13 remains the best Cambodia leg imo (besides Nuku's TAR:DC route lol), which coincidentally was the first episode I've ever watched live, so I certainly have a soft spot. Surprised they did so little with the temples of Angkor.

TAR13 remains the best Cambodia leg imo (besides Nuku's TAR:DC route lol), which coincidentally was the first episode I've ever watched live, so I certainly have a soft spot. Surprised they did so little with the temples of Angkor.

This tho. They could do a decent RB in angkor are and it would have been far better than having to do a tile... In Cambodia.

This leg was OK. Unbalanced Detours and a great Roadblock. (TAR 13 had a better Siem Reap leg though. Dandrew with the gas pump :2hearts:).

I like tasks where teams have to make an offering at places, so I really can't complain about that mini-task.

The fishing Detour looked like it took less time to do. Pulling the net, collect the fish, then weigh the fish. Teams did this very quickly and were the first done with the Detour.

However, the gardening Detour took slower because teams had to do a bit more in this side of the Detour. Mixing the soil could take awhile.

The Roadblock was fun. Having teams make a tile then having to solve a slide puzzle with the tile they made to place last was really creative.

Rating: 3/5

Based on the roadblock performance of DeAngelo, what could have happened if Beard Bros were first at the u-turn and u-turned NFL ? Eswar & Aparna may have a chance to stay  :d025:

I felt bad for the eliminated team. But they seemed to be the weaker link on the 5 alliance.

My order of preference to win it now:

Riley & Maddison
Gary & DeAngelo
Hung & Chee/Will & James

But...anything can happen. Plus, Will/James are the ones who deserve the most, in my opinion. Flawless race.

Yeah I def agree it’s not bottom 5. Not great but not bad. What I’ve really liked about this season is that they’ve started bringing features of the older (first 10) seasons back, like the Yield, the mega leg (i’m surprised Phil said it was the first time bc they literally did this in Hungary), and going to more countries than usual. On that last note, i think this is the first season where every leg is in a different country, but if you count India as two legs, this hasn’t been done since like TAR10.

My main problems with the season are the leg lengths. Maybe it’s just bc TAR DC has given me a new perspective but with the exception of a few legs, most of these legs have felt VERY short (especially that Brazil leg, like wtf?) There have been a lot of really good tasks, like the last leg was stellar, but there have been very boring tasks or tasks that were unique to the location.

Also, anyone know why there’s never flight searching anymore? Is it due to budget constraints?

I think 30 and 31 were very good seasons, and I would even argue that 29 was good, but I feel like 32 has so far been mediocre compared to the last two strong seasons. I think if they’d fleshed out better legs in these cool rarely-visited locations, it would’ve made it a strong season on the producers’ part.

Some posts are giving a low rating to the season.  I may be naive but I want to put it out there that there are viewers like me who are enjoying the Race this season.  And I want to give a shout out to the producers of the show and the production team on a job well done.

The preview for next week looks like a mini finale with the run/walk and the memory challenge.  I am partial to the NFLers, but if they happen to get eliminated next week...I hope CheeHu wins the Race.

NFL were on the U-Turn Board first than the others proved why Beard bros/ Will and James yielding the blondes made a better sense rather than yielding NFL

Aparna had one of the best greeting in the race
Chad from S17 said hi: "Big smart doctor can't put a bicycle together! How is that PhD treating ya?"

I feel like there's something wrong with you when Brendon & Rachel showed more class then you when they faced the team they u-turned at the RB. At least, Brendon said "I'm sorry, let me tell you why we did it" rather than "whatever happened to sportsmanship, man? It's a race, you got u-turned that's part of the game. Control your emotion."

I was put off by that too to be honest. But is it crazy that I'm still prefer them over DeAngelo & Gary (DeAngelo particularly)?

I know I have a lot to say and they're not usually in one comment and that's annoying so I'm gonna try to be more coherent this time.

Much of how we like a team depends on how much we find them to be genuine & relatable. For example, we can dislike a team and side with the team opposing to them because someone we have problems with like them.

What Aparna said did make her seems "entitled" but I have a feeling in her mind, if Eswar & Aparna are gonna u-turn someone, they're gonna u-turn a strong team (Leo & Alana and apparently a lot of us think so too). That's why they freaked out when they got u-turned because it doesn't make sense to them. That led her to think that DeAngelo & Gary might have problems with them & didn't say anything. That's why she's so aggressive towards DeAngelo & Gary.

For me, I found DeAngelo to be ingenuine & Gary to just play along with him. He said he could have told Michelle & Victoria they forgot their stuffs in Brasil sooner but "witholding" that information because that would give them an advance. He said it's a game & he didn't care about what others thought but he's also the one who talked a lot about making sure Mine Five became Top Five (according to Hung at the start of leg 7 if I'm not mistaken).

All of those would be fine if they're actually that independent but they actually let the alliance carry them too. Like when DeAngelo freaked out at the RB in Berlin and begged Hung to not leave him behind or asked Hung & Chee where they could get a sheep head in Kazakhstan or tried to get Maddison & Riley to share a riskshaw with him in India. That showed me he's willing to receive all the help he can get. He just doesn't feel like he should do something for them in return.

Haven't actually watched the episode yet, I only skipped to the end to get an elimination screencap of the elimination. India was it for me, I have to been in the right mood before I watch another hour of the Mine 5 singing Kumbaya around the world :/

I read the Wikipedia and the tasks sound generic anyway.
