Will & James
Name: Will Jardell
Age: 30
Instagram: @WilliamJardell and @itsWillandJames
Twitter: @WilliamJardell
Hometown: Nederland, Texas
Current Occupation: Public health specialist and dance teacher
Describe what you do: I work at a global health institute within a university on education
programs and research projects. I also work as a dance instructor in Los Angeles and direct a
competitive dance team.
Three words to describe you: Go-getter, realistic, and fierce.
Favorite hobbies: Dancing, playing board games (and beating James), hiking with our dog
Zoey, and watching almost every reality TV show there is, sometimes more than once.
What is the accomplishment you are most proud of?
My relationship with James is something that I’m incredibly proud of. We work so well together
and even when we do argue, we are always learning from our mistakes and growing as a couple.
James and I have been together for five years and I’m always overwhelmed with joy when I
think back on all that we’ve accomplished together. No matter what life throws at us I know we
will always have each other.
What scares you most about traveling?
First of all, I’m 6'6" and flying on airplanes is not the most comfortable thing for my back or
knees. If there is a leg of the race that requires us to sleep on a plane and I don’t get enough
quality sleep, I won’t be in good shape! I’m also terrified of taxis. I like being in control when
I’m traveling and giving up control to a taxi driver terrifies me.
What excites you most about traveling?
I’m incredibly fascinated by all cultures around the world and learning about different ways of
life. There are so many things I’ve never experienced and being able to see new places and
cultures with James is something that I’m so excited for. Not many people get this opportunity
and I want us to soak up every moment.
What country and place would you most like to visit and why?
It has always been a dream of mine to go to Ireland and see or stay in a castle. I don’t know how
I began associating castles with Ireland, but it’s something I’ve wanted to do since I was a little
kid!
What do you hope to accomplish by running The Amazing Race with your partner (other
than winning one million bucks)?
Since meeting James in 2014, I’ve always known that his biggest dream was to run The Amazing
Race and to be a part of fulfilling that dream is incredibly humbling. I hope that through
this process, I can show James how much I support him in achieving any goal he sets for himself
because he has supported me in achieving every goal I have set for myself. He’s the best partner
and I hope that I can be the best partner for him throughout the entire race.
Name: James Wallington
Age: 31
Instagram: @whereswallington and @itswillandjames
Twitter: @jameswallington
Hometown: Grand Rapids, Michigan
Current occupation: Event coordinator and social media manager
Describe what you do: I've been coordinating events and weddings in Los Angeles for the past
eleven years in addition to working as a social media manager.
Three words to describe you: Passionate, ambitious, outgoing.
Favorite hobbies: I love hosting game nights with friends (especially any board game that
involves strategy), traveling, party planning, musical theatre, hiking with our dog Zoey, watching
competition reality shows, and going to the movies!
What is the accomplishment you are most proud of?
Living out my dream of competing on The Amazing Race! When I was 12 years old, I remember
watching episode one of the first season and saying to myself "I’m going to race one day." Fast
forward 19 years and nine casting applications later (including Family Edition and various
teammates), I’m gearing up for Season 32 with the love of my life. I couldn’t be more proud of
my persistence in accomplishing this childhood dream… and I can’t wait to hear Phil say
the words, "The world is waiting…"! #SUPERFAN
What scares you most about traveling?
Visiting countries that are dangerous for LGBT travelers, losing my passport, or not being in control of my environment (lost taxi drivers or transportation delays).
What excites you most about traveling?
The opportunity to step outside of my comfort zone, experience new cultures, and meet new
people who challenge my way of thinking.
What country and place would you most like to visit and why?
I really want to visit Cambodia because it sounds exotic and I would love to explore
Angkor Wat, but I've always dreamed of visiting the continent of Africa, whether it be
for a safari adventure or volunteering with a wildlife organization!
What do you hope to accomplish by running The Amazing Race with your partner (other
than winning one million bucks)?
In the words of Bill Murray "if you think someone is the one, travel the world together and if
you’re still in love, get married at the airport." I hope throughout the race Will and I are able to
gain a deeper understanding of who we are as individuals and as a couple; resulting in a deeper
love and appreciation for each other that will accelerate our relationship into the next chapter…
marriage!

PREPARING FOR THE AMAZING RACE 32 | Will + James
We watched seasons of the race prior to leaving for the starting line! We ran every day, attended fitness classes, brushed up on our geography, memorized country flags, and even learned key phrases in six different languages that we felt were the most commonly used on previous seasons of The Amazing Race! Whether this preparation helped or hurt us, you’ll have to stay tuned and watch the premiere on Wednesday, October 14th at 9pm/8c on CBS.

They’re fortunate that driving stick shift has all but disappeared from the Race in recent seasons. Only thing I would have definitely boned up on was reading maps for navigating from place to place. Many their prior experience backpacking in places around the world covered that.
But I do agree the rewatching previous seasons of the Race and observing how teams travelled and dealt with locals is an important step in preparation. (If you didn’t know, while all seasons are on DVD, seasons 1 to 29 are accessible for purchase on Amazon Prime (I have 1 to 12 due to ITunes, and with that latter service you can purchases all seasons beginning with 13 (to 31).
Great video, guys!

LEAVING FOR THE AMAZING RACE 32 STARTING LINE | Will + James
24 hours before we left for the Starting Line we packed our bags, brushed up on foreign languages and called our families to say our final goodbyes for the next month. These final hours prior to departure were exciting because it finally started to sink in that we were about to compete on The Amazing Race Season 32. Stay tuned and watch the premiere on Wednesday, October 14th at 9pm/8c on CBS.

I don't think it's fair to blame one team for the alliance, all 5 teams are part of it and are as responsable for what happened.
Alliances have been part of the Amazing race since season 1, but I do think this is the most 'extreme' exemple we ever had.

The alliancing happening this season reminds me starkly of Aaron & Arianne's hunt against Derek & Drew back in season 3, except the one we are seeing now has almost a guarding approach that plays out like they have strong vendettas against these other teams.

It's weird that they'll dedicate so much energy to hiding information and helping each other while DeAngelo & Gary remain oblivious but won't have the guts to Yield them. Both teams were in a position to Yield them twice.
-
As best as I can recall, the Mine Five alliance was the first long term alliance, especially of that size, they’ve ever had on TAR. Point number one. Teams that were in that area of the mine back in leg 2 was as far as I can tell, happenstance, but those there took advantage of the time and circumstances and most importantly, it wasn’t against any rules. It just happened these were mostly the strongest teams this season and they made it work and are the Final Five teams.
Sometimes great gameplay is boring. (BB 22 is an example of that.) Sometimes alliance members generally keep their word. With the Final Five being all but secured, it would make sense that three of them would make a successor alliance. Again, not against the rules. The common element of all of this is that Will and James did a precise job on studying the rules and seeing what they could do with it. It may be different than other seasons, but pulling this off within the game rules is within the rules, so I have to reward the ingenuity involved. (Not any different than some of the stuff Boston Rob pulled in season 7 especially with being known outside the US during filming and using that.) It wasn’t against the rules.
This is not a terrible season, it was well casted, the locations and tasks have been excellent IMHO, and it is the second consecutive excellent season in a row, especially with rolling the game back to a much earlier era.

Agreed, I gotta admit that they studied the race well and use it for their advantage. they would know that alliance, when done right, can move them further.
Their pick to ally with the stronger teams seemed off putting first, but it brought them so far (the very example of that was RB in germany), had they allied with Cajun sisters and the blondes, it would have been a very different story. They knew the risk of ally with the stronger teams especially at the penultimate and final leg, but I would assume that they believed they could beat them.
W/J might not be the greatest team ever raced, but this is the example of studying and researching the race could bring you further, and they use it effectively; they are rather effectively strategical racers
-
Strategic racers take out threats not people who were last for a majority of the season.
-
They got Leo and Alana taken out on the previous leg. The kept their alliance (and their goal of Final Five) intact on this leg. You might not like alliances like this, I might not like alliances like this, but it’s beyond dispute that it worked. Now, it’s a different alliance for final three, presumably. So I’ll see how that works. But it doesn’t distract from the gameplay within the rules that Will/James came up with. If production was bothered by it, they’ll change the rules.

I agree 100% with you, and I think in the end, if they win, some people will value their win as less, because of all the help they got. So yes it's smart, and if they win the money they won't care, but they will be remembered for a team needing the help of other teams to win (even if they are a good team on their own and would have done as good as they have, I believe).
For us the alliance made the t.v experience not as fun (especially in leg 6 and the roadblock in leg 4 and 8/9) but for them it worked, it's just that they will have to pay a price with the fans, and as super fan themselves, they may be a bit sad about it. I personally like them and think they are good racers, but I guess it would have been more fun without the alliance.
-
The whole topic of whether W/J making a good or strategic move to yield H/K is definitely debatable, and I can see that, generally you want to take out the stronger teams and leave out with they consider a weaker teams.
I've seen some of the worst strategy of teams using the power play (yield and/or U-Turn) and what they did imo is far from worse; it's rather logical if not the wisest. Most of the 'slowing the stronger team's strategy are when they knew that the power play was the last power play to use (Like Chip/Kim yielding Colin and Christie in S5, Twinnies strategy in s21, or Leo & Jamal u-turning the cowboys in s24), this season wasn't the case. There still a U-Turn in play on the next leg, so they would rather to use it for the team that had the least chance to survive and surely knew that that team were in last, so they would be eliminated without having a chance to retaliate by u-turning them on the next leg. Yielding NFL team wouldnt a wise choice either because they were still in the part of the alliances, and not only it would break the promise of the alliance, they would also have a motive to target W/J for retaliation. they also have bigger chance to survive even had they yielded them, and in some instances, they surpassed them at some instances of the race. Like I said it's not the best move or the most strategical play, but it's rather logical given the circumstances

CONGRATULATIONS
WILL JARDELL & JAMES WALLINGTON
THE AMAZING RACE SEASON 32 CHAMPIONS!!!
-
And a two year belated congratulations on their engagement!
-
Happy two-year anniversary! I think.
-
Congrats for the engagement :2hearts:
Maybe a little rude, but I wonder why you guys needed to wait (supposed to be) almost two years. Was it because TAR thingy, or because wedding plannings that you feel like the best to do on that date, if you don't mind to answer?
-
Congrats guys! And since you're superfans, here's a random fact that not even the biggest of superfans might now:
Did you know that you're only the second team in TAR history (in the American version anyway) where one team member's initials are the inverse of the others? The only other team you share this with is super obscure lol, it was Matt Davis and Daniel Moss from season 22, they were firefighters who were eliminated first because they were last of the three teams that quit the sandcastle challenge!
-
Congrats for the engagement :2hearts:

They have explained the wait in some media interviews and social media since last night. They gave vague explanations about the engagement to their families and friends because of the gag rule in contestant NDAs. From what both of them have said. their families and friends more or less figured it out, but they couldn’t confirm anything until it aired. The had planned originally to have the wedding this past fall, but postponed it due to COVID-19 until this coming March.

A "Thank You" article from Will & James

It was pretty obvious they were winning just based on their social media BEFORE the season started.
-
They were doing the backpacking boyfriends travel videos even before they were cast. They continued those even after they returned from filming two years ago. Their traveling experience before TAR gave them a skill set that really impressed me at the time of filming TAR 32. In other words, they continued to do what they had been doing before; IMHO, not doing so would have led to speculation.
