I'll start. My base is Atlanta but I am currently traveling for fun about 60%+ of the time.
My background is Critical Care medicine so I have a clear understanding of medical issues and am working volunteer locally.

Much of my travel scheduled thru July will be affected/cancelled and I actually may have to finally stay home and clean out my basement!  :funny: Actually very very disappointed but will soldier on!

I did the routine disaster prep after my sister insisted lol.: Laid in water/a 3 week supply of basic food, some cold/flu meds and some staples. And wine.  :jam: :martini:

Have hundreds of books and projects to keep me busy. Not forgetting RFF!

Currently working to get hand sanitizer out to a number of our senior citizens. It was impossible to find here. Thanks to a local distillery providing the sanitizer using their 95% alcohol byproducts I have been able to make up a large # of small bottles for our local senior community. Trying to get more bottles so I can do another batch Monday.

And attended our first remote church service this morning: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3fT2jvb10o&feature=youtu.be&fbclid=IwAR2-Cx3iwL_lInfcL40cLV6A-P3bmkFsHPx0qwuCgp5M3piRDOmJTaQNVys

What are YOU doing? How are YOU coping? What challenges are YOU facing?

This is amazing, Peach! I hope you'll stay safe at home.
Also, about the hand sanitizers, that's amazing what you are doing! Great community work to keep the elderly safe!

PS: i don't know how things work at the US, but here in Brazil, if the prices go radically up (it's happening with medical products) you can report to the party responsible for consumer rights!

My base is Pelotas, Brazil. We live close to the border with Uruguay.
Last few days it's been really hot in here, but our winter is coming (and it's brutal).

I work at my dad's pharmacy, and even though we don't sell artificial products (we are a handling pharmacy) we'll have to keep opening for the sake of the population (half a million people).

I'm actually scared for me, my dad and my brother.
I used to be a fat guy who was sick like ALL THE TIME in the past.
Started a keto/carnivore diet 10 months ago and now my immunity is really high and i'm healthy now to a level i don't think i would need to be worried. The problem is, though, that i could still carry the virus into my family.

My city has like 10 suspect cases and none confirmed thus far. But everything (classes and such) are being cancelled for now. I'm even considering not playing soccer or tennis this week. (i'm always playing both)

I hope everyone can be safe and AT HOME! Take caution measures and try to stay home, guys! We need to prevent from it.
Wishing everyone at this forum a safe journey through all of this!  :2hearts:

Thanks Declive!! Really proud of you and your lifestyle changes.

We are still learning here. But as far as we know this is a disease likely transmitted by aerosol or droplets.

My advice would be to avoid crowds.  But a good game of tennis outside should be fine...just no handshaking! Stay on your side of the net lol.

I finished all my errands today and can manage everything else for a few weeks without needing to go into crowds. Hopefully we will know more by then. At work maybe wear a mask if you can find them? They are completely out of stock in my area so not an option. Wash your hands like crazy and avoid touching your face.

We will all get through this. Hopefully all these worldwide efforts will help contain the spread. We are learning!

As the CDC has advised canine cannot be infected by the coronavirus and cannot transmit it, it has not required much change in our walks. I’m wearing thin winter gloves for not as it hasn’t gotten warm enough to be uncomfortable to have them on. My apartment building has been closed to visitors ( since almost all of us are in higher risk categories (age, health conditions or both) Delivery people are allowed in. Our entrances are only remotely manned from another buildind. If the person on duty isn’t preoccupied.
In any event, Edele is getting her walks (a half mile to 2 miles in a single walk, depending on the weather and the level of sunlight outside.)

Yeah i'm always wearing a mask in the pharmacy. Also thinking about doing maybe just a 5 hour shift during this crisis. We need to help people.

It's good that you have managed to be able to stay away from crowds these next few days!

I'm in Santa Clara County- one of the most heavily affected counties in California right now (over 100 confirmed cases).

I've had an interesting journey over the past week- I noticed a dry throat and cough on Tuesday, stayed home due to an elevated fever Wednesday,  and have been self-isolating since, with slowly worsening symptoms- luckily that broke today and I'm feeling much better overall.

I tried getting tested for COVID-19, because:
1.) The symptoms I've been having are similar to the virus
2.) I come in contact with many people on a weekly basis (though not now due to gathering limits)- many of which are higher risk for the infection.
3.) I've traveled through SJC airport both weekends where TSA workers who tested positive for the virus had been working (same terminal, and proper time frame too).

However, my primary care physician decided against it due to symptoms not being severe/acute enough, and because I couldn't empirically confirm that I came in contact with the infected workers.  They said they would love to test me, but tests are just that limited here.

Hopefully- if I really am on the mend right now- I came down with something else at just a really coincidental time.  I am staying locked in my room for at least the next few days, and continuing to consult my doctor about proper steps going forward.

It's all kinda crazy right now.

ok i'm actually pretty pissed about this, so i don't get the discrimnation against asians because of WE HAD the corona first, literally when i was in thailand all the forigners tried to walk away from me and my family, not all asians have corona, and some people even said that we deserved to have corona because we eat bats and stuff, so first off not all chinese eat bats and second of all not all asians are chinese. and now italy and most of europe have more corona than most of asian (hk, macau ect) but they still discrimnate against asians, and they just make up exuses like "oh its because the chinese brought it to us" :res: and i'm so sick and tried of hearing it, its because you don't wear masks and protect yourselves and now your blaming us asians, you think wearing mask will provoke fear so you don't allow them to wear mask !!!!!STOP BLAMING ASIANS!!!!!!!

That's sad, Gra.

Personally i think this situation is a major warning for us all about some higiene basics we should all have mastered by now.
But life is a constant learning -- there's still time for us to learn.

As Peach is aware of, I am following media developments on the public health and safety aspects on the pandemic from what I see in media online that I consider responsible and reliable. For now, I will post in the travel information thread, as warranted.
But be aware of this a lot of misinformation and concealment is out there in the mistaken belief it will prevent panic, including hoarding that’s been going on in parts of the US. Predictable, as it’s the sort of behavior one often has seen in major hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis, and severe winter weather. So the behavior is predictable and could have been avoided by prompter action.

As to how I qualify for this I am retired from the practice of law due to permanent medical conditions. But as a undergraduate and law student I learned from the best law professors how to assemble facts and information and synthesize that partial information to a coherent whole. I’ve done this for decades, even before law school. Not everyone is able to do this in a timely sensible way. But went I post in that mode here on this subject, be sure I have tried to vet the raw information or report factoids that are demonstrable of what’s going on, and try to explain concisely what is implied in the facts.

For now I’ll mostly post in the travel info thread. It’s toning to be a rocky ride Folks. It’s been literally a century since this sort of true global pandemic “Spanish Flu” pandemic of 1918-1919.

Melbourne boy here!  :waves:

Victoria has around 71 cases at the moment! A little concering as we are heading into winter here in Australia, where it looks to be a 'double whammy' of influenza and now COVID-19!

Me & my family are taking the usual precautions! We've stocked up on food & meds for 2 weeks, so in the case of a total 'lockdown', we won't starve to death!

I'm currently in Year 12 (12th grade), so this virus has come at the bad time for me! My school hasn't shut yet, but we've been warned we will 99% shut in the next 1-2 weeks, so I'm currently preparing teach myself the content for all of my five subjects I'm studying, for however long that will be! Less than ideal, but I will be able to manage!

I'm quite upset that I cannot any AFL games with my mates for the foreseeable future, but the right decision has been made! And hey, there's always social media & reality TV to binge!

Stay safe out there everybody! We're all here for each other! Always drop me a PM if you're concerned about this virus! My box is always open!  :2hearts:

I'm in Yarmouth on the southwest tip of Nova Scotia, Canada. It's just beginning here. 3 presumed cases were announced in my province yesterday, and the premier (the equivalent of a state governor) was quick to roll out of a whole set of new measures.

I work in retail with stock overnight, which means I'm on the front lines of the consumer madness this has brought on stores. Everyday the shelves are getting more empty. I haven't been in during the day recently, but I've heard customers are shopping with gloves on and some with masks.

I've always been a periodic hand washer, but even moreso now. Trying not to hoard too much, but have done so in moderation. All I can really recommend is that, and stay away from crowds. The "social isolation" may not be all a bad thing for now.

Schools around here are now closing. Events, bars, restaurants, casinos, etc. It seems like pretty much everything around is closing except stores, so I don't even know if I'm going to get two weeks off from work out of this.

But to be honest I'm almost hoping I do. I have a novel writing project of almost 4 years that's so close to the finish line, and that time would provide just the kick in the butt I need to cross it (There's been a meme going around among creative types on Twitter about how Shakespeare and others from many centuries ago created some of their best work while they were in quarantine for the plague)

I am so sorry you are experiencing this. I have thankfully heard no incidences of this in Atlanta.

Anyone blaming any ethic or religious or nationality for this is ridiculous.

Its a disease. A germ. It does NOT discriminate .

technically according to the spca (Hong kong animal welfare) pets at home have NOTHING  to do with the coronavirus and its real a shame people throw their pets away on the streets or into shelters, its really sad as a animal person and pet owner (3 hamsters, 1 gerbil, 6 hedgehogs, 5 sugargliders) its sad to see animals being throw out

There is NO evidence that pets can infect their owners.  But there does seem to be some evidence they can also get the virus although they do not appear to get as sick. I think we'll just have to wait for more info.

Well I live in London, England.

Some of my friends have already self isolated for 2 weeks which is quite worrying. I'm currently studying in year 13 for my A Level exams which are scheduled for May/June, these determine whether I get into my first or second choice university. (or none aha), schools remain open however we reckon with the high volume of cases they'll shut next week in which case exams would be pushed back thus our summer wouldn't be the normal 3 months you get after year 11/13, so no prom :(. I'm also having to cancel my interail trip around Europe which is incredibly sad... and my birthday is in 3 weeks so that's all not happening.

It is sad, but I am lucky to be in a situation where I have no worries of my own personal health, I wish everyone safety and happiness in this rather sh**ty time ahead.

I have a friend who is diabetic who has to self isolate for 3 months  :'(

I am SO sorry BTF....the only good thing is look at all the enforced study time you have for your exams!  :jam:

You are on the brink of a whole new part of your life. This sucks but get your exams done and then see what's what. Your future is bright, even if the short term sucks.

Who knows? The fall term could be pushed back and you could perhaps still do a trip of some sort. We have to hope that a vaccine will be proved to work soon, and that warmer weather and all our efforts  will reduce the spread.

Hang tight, we are proud of you, and one day you will be telling this story to your grandkids. :kuss:

I am in small town, Ohio USA.  No cases in my county although a neighboring county had their first case today.  Most cases have been in the large cities and surrounding areas.

I am retired and due to a health issue, I pretty much stay home except for going to the grocery, pharmacy or chiropractor. So in a way I have been in a self-quarantine for many months.  I went to a specialist appointment in Columbus in early January and need to go back but with everything going on, I'm going to put it off. It is something that is not major.  I am even considering filing an extension for my taxes since I usually sit down with the CPA to go over stuff before he does them!  My financial adviser has gone to no in person appointments at this time as well so there is a good possibility the CPA is doing that too. Also, still don't have one of my forms since it is not required to be out until March 15th.

I last went to the grocery on the 10th so before the madness began in my small town.  I will need milk, eggs and Dr Pepper later this week so I'm going to go to the local grocery store instead of Wal-Mart.

I have appreciated what the governor of Ohio has put into place, even before some of the states that have more cases than Ohio.  Here's hoping that his being proactive will be a good thing for the state.

My neighbor works for a corporation that has plants all over the world, including Wuhan.  The part they get from that plant is in low supply and he fully expects the company to have to shut down production in the next few weeks. He also expects it could possibly last about 8 weeks like the shutdown in China.

So the trickle down will carry this for months on the economic side.

HaveADrPepper, I live in a small populated state, and the first cases statewide only showed up a couple of weeks ago. The first community transmission case here was in a suburban county of the city I live in on Friday, my county reported its first on Sunday. This situation is evolving very rapidly and it isn’t going to be just in urban/suburban area. The fact that a lot of COVID19 exposure is community transmission now is what is prompting much of the quickly heightened response, and it will continue to be that way. My city declared a state of emergency and closed gatherings over 50 people by Sunday with some businesses ordered closed; the legislature suspended its ongoing session because hundreds of people from all over the state visit daily; by this morning our governor banned groups or events with 10 or more people, closed bars and sit down restaurants, health clubs/gyms, closed the public schools for a month, etc. The belief remains that due to the severe lack of testing kits and means to process them there are an untold number of people unknowingly spreading the coronavirus. In other words, don’t assume you’re safe because no cases have been reported in your area. Most likely they are there and haven’t been tested for..

What am I saying in your case? Prepare now and make sure you have all the groceries you need for several weeks. As to your medical appointment, contact that doctor and get their guidance first. See what they advise. As to your CPA, contact them and ask. Many professionals are working remotely so they will be able to tell you the best way right now to proceed. Just don’t assume things, ask!

In many ways I’m in the same boat. And I will be reaching out as well.

I'm also sorry to hear about your friends! Luckily, in the age of social media, we can still stay connected with our friends and not be isolated from them!

My school trip to Canberra at the end of May was also cancelled as well! This virus is ruining plans, left, right & centre!

Update from SF Bay Area:

We are wrapping up our first day of a region-wide "Shelter In Place."

We are called not to leave our houses for any non-essential reasons.  Food/groceries, medical aid, laundry, and other errands that are essential are still allowed.  Only occupations that are considered essential (food service, medical, laundromats, various support professions) are permitted to work as normal; all others need to work from home/take time off.

My county, along with 5 others around the bay will be like this for the next 3 weeks.

There's some eerie shots of what the area looks like right now somewhere online.  It looks like a ghost town!

Hopefully this helps slow the spread of the virus, and keeps it manageable here.

No confirmed cases in my city yet. However, all classes and everything else have been cancelled already.
Commerce is still working...

Our pharmacy was in a CRAZY rush today. Hand Sanitizers being bought like crazy.
My dad sells them at the lowest price possible and only allows people to buy 2 each, so there's nothing missing to anyone.
I don't say that a lot but i'm proud of his actions in this moment. Yes, he's a pharmaceutical expert who obviously wants profit (as everyone else) but he's always putting everyone’s health in first place and really hoping this coronavirus madness ends.

We're doing everything we can to help people and stop this crisis.
We are a handling pharmacy that sells natural products only, so we do everything by hand (of course, always wearing gloves, caps and masks) and with affection.

Are we risking our lives? Yes. But our pharmacy is 100% clean and being sterilized from 15 to 15 minutes.
I just hope we can help everyone get through it! I'm proud of my work journey today.

I have not assumed that I am safe.  My cousin wanted to go furniture shopping on Monday.  I told her she is crazy and wouldn't go.  She is older than I am!  My only medical appointments at this time are my local chiropracter. I have to go to that, I can't function if I don't. My appointment in the Columbus area has never been made.  Like I said, it is not a life threatening issue and I can totally get by without going for several more months.  I've been living with this issue for over a year, another couple of months won't matter.

I also have a good friend that is a local MD.  He has been very good about giving out information about what is going on locally when asked.  My town is doing everything that the governor of Ohio is asking.  And, many individuals are offering help to others. Our local groceries are offering times for older individuals to go first thing in the morning after the sanitizing has been done and shelves have been stocked.  I'm mostly good on food, just milk, eggs and Dr Pepper will be what is needed later this week.

As for the taxes... I used to work for the CPA I go to. I used to do taxes. I understand tax season quite well. I had to leave that job because of the stress it caused me.  I honestly don't care this year because these are very extreme circumstances.  If it wasn't for that one darn investment I inherited, I could do them myself. I'm still waiting on the tax for for that darn investment as well. Can't do taxes without it. Thankfully, this will be the last tax return with it since I got rid of it last year.

I was very concerned about this virus when I first heard about it before it ever hit the shores of the USA. And, in many ways, I was already doing everything our government has asked of us before they did.

There really isn’t a place on RFF for this video but it is coronavirus related.

This aired Tuesday night in Germany where a season of Big Brother Germany has been underway since early February. For the second time ever in any Big Brother franchise had to be told of a current development in the outside world. (Big Brother US in September of 2001, following the 9/11 attacks was the other.)

It is probably more appropriate here but, interestingly enough, this board has a Big Brother Worldwide forum. Maybe you should cross post it there, too. BTW, depending on whether you consider the CBS online Big Brother OTT as real Big Brother, there was another instance. The houseguests were told about President Trump's election.

I looked at all the threads in that forum, and there’s never been a thread on that version in its 14 seasons, all in German. I believe all the Worldwide BB’s in that forum were produced in the English language. We also didn’t really have a thread for this sort of coronavirus related media, although there’s so much, besides TAR that has been suspended, delayed, or outright cancelled in the past three or four weeks, it’s breathtaking.

Once again we had a crazy day at the pharmacy. In our southern region, only a few cases.

But i think next week will be the maximum point for us. We'll be going through what europeans are going through now.

I have to admit that this quarantine thing really got into my head today.
Luckily i have TAR DBL V to look forward to.
And thank god i have the pharmacy because in weekdays i was really compenetrated, but in this weekend i'm really losing it.

Not worried about health issues, but because we really have nothing to do and just staying locked up is...weird.

Around here, we had two cases a few weeks ago (both recovered) but nothing since though I don't think much testing is happening. Where I work has been gradually cutting back on the number of people working in the office and ramping up teleworking which we've never done before. I have type 2 diabetes, so I'm at high risk and they are moving me to full time teleworking to limit my exposure to the virus. I was supposed to start teleworking every shift next Sunday but yesterday afternoon they moved it up to next Thursday and when I opened my email just now, they are starting it tomorrow (full time for me and about half time for others). The office staff will be down to 2-4 people at any one time. That's night time and weekend staffing. Weekdays were usually 10-12 people.  Teleworking is going to be weird, because only a limited amount of my work can be done from home. However, there are hundreds of online courses and recorded webinars available, so I guess I'll be mostly watching those 8 hours a day for at least a couple of months. Oh joy. However, our cats should love having me around all day. Luna will probably want to camp out on my desk with me until I have to move the mouse to get things done. She takes that personally.

Now if I can get through today safely. I'm working with 2 coworkers that stayed home sick for a few days about 10 days ago when they felt mildly ill. They are back working but they both cough occasionally and that worries me. They both said to me yesterday that while they felt fine, they also felt that to be safe they shouldn't be working.

I love this. Done to an absolute tee! #ClassOf2020  :2hearts:

If there’s a Year 12 student in your life, give them a hug and pray for them. To them, the cancellation of school is not a vacation. It’s time they don’t get to spend with their friends the last few months before they graduate. They’re anxious, realizing they may never be able to walk the halls for the last time, play their final sports season, have a proper valedictory, turn university applications in or attend their formal. They are sad they may never take the stage or the field for their games, or theatre/music productions. They’re nervous that they may not get to write their final exams and not receive that certificate they have been working hard on for 12 years. They are scared that Tuesday March 23, 2020 may have been the last day of their senior year with so many things left undone. Show them support and love them during these hard times. #classof2020

They came into this world in the days following 9/11 and they are graduating high school during a pandemic. They’ll be our strongest generation yet.

If you are the parent of a 2020 student, copy and post on your wall!

the goverment only allowed grade 12s to go back to skl but not grade 11-9 (i'm grade 8 so i didn't need to go back)  so lots of parents came forth to complain and so we made it on the news

This is very telling for me because had I started kindergarten (the kindergarten that I had attended, well, has a 3-year curriculum instead of usual 2-year curriculum) a year earlier, I would’ve graduated this year, but I’m graduating next year instead.

Tuesday was a crazy day in my city/county. The number of cases rose from 4 to 19 in my county in the space of a weekend. I’ve learned that there have been positive tests in three separate companies with campuses to the west all within a mile of my building.
But it didn’t stop there. My property management left a note on everyone’s door this afternoon that a resident with preexisting medical conditions had a high fever and was transported to a hospital while they are tested for COVID19.
Results will take one to five days. In the meantime all community areas were closed for a deep cleaning, we were asked to remain in their apartments and not visit others (we can go outside though, so Edele got and will get her daily walks, one or two walks roughly totaling a mile and a half). The closure of the common areas means even our mailboxes can’t be checked, and deliveries are limited to groceries. And one of the elevators was out of commission whether that’s related I honestly don’t know, we’ve a lot of service issues with those since last summer?
In any event the rise in cases statewide in accelerating, which is not a good thing, and even though the mayors of the state’s two largest cities have pleaded for a remain in place order, the governor is refused claiming that she’s following some sort of matrix to make her decisions. By the time she gets to that point, it’ll be too late to prevent a major outbreak throughout the state, 33 of our 99 counties have cases, and one fatality that occurred Sunday.

I'm in Tolland County, Connecticut. USA. My town has a couple cases.

What really sucks about this whole thing is that I'm considered "essential" and have to go to work. I work in a retail store that sells "essential" items (and I'm using that term very loosely). Before this Stay Safe act went into play, my store was filled up with people who would be buying those so-called items in bulk. Phone calls off the hook asking for them. "We don't have any. No calls for X department." Please stop calling us about that!

Now, they're only letting 50 people in at once. This is so crazy. I don't feel like I should be working while this is going on.

This IS a scary time. I am so sorry. But with good planning you can possibly make this work.

Ask that your manager supply masks. If not, make one. Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer as often as possible. Stay 4-6 feet away from customers.

Put in writing your requests to your manager in a nice way. That way you have documentation.

If it seems undoable you can decide if quitting is an option. But know that this could go on for months....

Update:

My property has two buildings. The hospitalized resident tested negative and lives in the other building. The property management has decided to maintain the stricter routine. They’ve also decided to not have any face to face meetings with any resident on anything.

Meanwhile the governor here still refuses to puta remain in shepherd order, even though two of our neighboring states have now done so. The number of cases statewide rose substantially in the last day, about 17 percent, and there are cases in 37 of the states 99 country in all areas of the state. Extending the order for only a week? When it’s clear we haven’t peaked out yet? And the school closure order now extends to April 17.  The shortness of the extensions, to me, is just foolhardy.

It should have read “The governor here still refuses to put a remain in place order.”
Let me update a little more. 37 of our 99 countries have at least one positive case. The total number of cases rose by 37, the biggest one day increase so far to 182. Undoubted it will go over 200 on zfriday.

We were seeing so few patients and taking in so little money that my Boss couldn't afford to keep the dental practice open. She has advised me that I will have a job if they reopen but doesn't know how long that will be so she understands if I have to look for another job...

Lucky I have enough savings to last a little while but it still sucks.

What are you all doing? How are you coping?

Anyone been hit by the virus? How are you protecting yourself?

I'll just check in so you know that I'm still here. Not a trivial thing since I am 71 and type 2 diabetic. Truthfully, the Covid situation has not affected me that much. Only real change is the difficulty in finding certain items of food and supplies. You would have to actually know me to understand this. Basically, being not very social and living alone, my life since retirement was almost the same as self-quarantine even during normal times.

Here's Shanghai, China.

With regard to my personal feeling, I think the most diffcult period in China was from the late January to the early February. I didn't dare to dine outside (while only few restaurants were open by then). I sprayed medical alcohol onto takeaway food for killing potential viruses. I kept washing hands often and wearing masks all the time.

I returned to work on Feb 10th, which was quite early in that the situation in Shanghai was not optimistic yet by then. But it is April now and it has already recovered by now; most people have returned to work in a normal state. There are a few new infected cases every day, but almost all of them are from abroad and those patients are medically taken care of.

The government in Shanghai has never forced people to stay home, even in the most serious time. During that time citizens were aware of the danger of this kind of virus and they avoided going outside in order to protect themselves.  Neighborhood communities kept pursuading people not to travel.

The government has done something as follows for anti-virus.

1) Pharmacies don't offer medicines curing fever unless the customer registers his personal information. This is for avoiding missing potential coronavirus cases.

2) Each citizen has to apply for a healthcare QR code. A green code means he's safe and he may go anywhere he wants. A red code means he's in danger and he can't go into the mart and many other places. A yellow code means he's in isolation period. The code is determined by judging his records of going in and out of Shanghai and medical seeking experiences. Each city has its own healthcare QR code; if one has to go to another city, he has to apply for the code of his arrival city. But I have to say this policy was implemented quite late; the situation had been gradually optimistic by the time it went into implementation.

3) Scenery spots and cinemas are closed, even now.

4) People from other cities coming to Shanghai had to be self-isolated for 7 days (and 14 days in the most serious period). I feel it was not strictly implemented. I returned to Shanghai in the early February and registered in the neighborhood community. By then the healthcare QR code was not implemented and sometimes I still went outside. You may think I was under a quasi-self-isolation :) This policy is not implemented now, except for people coming from abroad.

It is very safe in Shanghai now,  but people keep taking the initiative to wear masks to protect themselves and other people.

I have no idea why the case of coronavirus could be so serious outside China. I don't get why people in some countries don't wear masks and the governments do little for anti-virus.

And also since many ppl from abroad have been flying back (mostly students) and then not self isolating themselves causing a lot of people to get infected

Also there was this guy who got corona and thought it was unfair that he got it so he spat at others which i find truely selfish, making me scared to go outside to even go grocery shopping

What a bummer.

It is beyond my knowledge that some people wearing masks for protecting themselves and other people may be bullyragged in a "free" civilized world where people hold the truths of anti-discrimination, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness to be self-evident.

I'm also wondering if the spitter you mentioned thought it was his freedom to do so.

Thank you Supra for the detailed update.
China and Korea have shown that the curve CABN be flattened with everyone on board with testing, testing, testing and masks  social isolation.

Our country needs to support that better.

My city began "shelter in place"  Friday at 6PM. We can go out for essential work, groceries, and food shopping. I went to the store and the crowds of last week were way down. I think we are ready.

I am!

Gra I am so sorry for all you are going through. I think this is the biggest challenge of your generation so far.

I have family in your area as well. I know it is hard for my niece as well. Lots of things are different, scary things are happening, and life is different.

We all have to face that this real and not going away soon. EACH of us has to do the best we can, and help in ways that we can. Teenagers are creative and can help in many ways.

People are making masks, which will help in the short run. I saw a 1000% higher rate of masks than last week. That is a good thing.

I for one am having to get used to having my travels and daily life limited severely. I am blessed to have all of you here from around the world … remote friends are REAL friends. We can support each other with friendship, tips, and love. Staying in touch with all of you helps.

If anyone has suggestions for things RFF can do to entertain, support , or just be here for you better, please do let me know.

Meanwhile, stay strong. We WILL get through this. Hold the faith!

Thanks to my imbecile state government for fuc*ing my life for the next five years!  :groan:

The clowns running this state have banned Learner drivers from getting up their 120 hours needed to receive a drivers license. With no license, I cannot drive to work and I need employment so I can apply to become a police officer when I'm 21!

I will sitting my VCE Exams in December. In December, I planned to be celebrating with my mates finishing our educational journey from 2008 and nailing down a job. I am now sitting in an exam room in the middle of summer finishing my exams which should of been completed in November, instead of attending a job interview which I desperately need for my future dream employment.

Daniel Andrews & James Merlino, you have a lot to answer for. Get your sh*t together, get your affairs straight and have show governance. I will never ever, vote for the ALP (Democratic Party) ever and neither will half of the Year 12 students suffering because of your stupid 'essential services'   :groan:

But you WILL get through this. Alternative options WILL become available. Life IS  going to go forward, although not in the way we thought it would 2 months ago.

I have no answers. But you are both talented intelligent guys, and I know you will find a way through this.

Over the weekend the number of reported cases rose dramatically. Adding 38 on Sunday, another 86 on Monday with two more deaths. Statewide total approaching 500, an nearly 200 case increase in 3 days. My county rose to 61 cases.
Six days later, still no shelter in place or stay at home order, even though the city school system has said, no matter what the governor does, they’re going to only have online learning the remainder of the school year. The countywide bus system, after one reduction in service 10 days ago, is reducing it further.
The governor has ordered the closure of additional categories of business and venue to try to force voluntary compliance with social distancing, isn’t working well. Every time I take Edele for a walk we se small groups walking or standing together without observing social distancing. The governor did decide that gatherings of ten or more will be subject to a misdemeanor charge $650 and or jail time. But still avoiding the psychological pressure a stay at home order would have.
UPDATE:
The numbers have reached just under 1,000 cases (it will exceed 1,000 on Tuesday, nearly 100 deaths statewide, my county now has over 100 cases and about 10 deaths countywide. In six days. And the numbers, in seven days (through Tuesday) statewide up from Monday 102 to 1046, county up by 2 to 127. Deaths up by 3 in one day to 126. As you can see the numbers more Han doubled in one week.

I have a couple of items of groceries that weren’t included Sunday that I’ll get walking to the smaller location
Believe it or not canned black beans are in short supply, as are wipes, paper towels and toilet paper. I’ve found other items on Amazon. But what good is it to order cloth masks, there’s nothing downtown, and via Amazon will be two months?

And one last note a long time friend (35 years) who lives across the Hudson River from Manhattan NYC posted on FB today about a meal he and his husband were cooking for lunch, and mentioned they were in quarantine because his husband had a fever and was sent home to self quarantine. No other symptoms and noCOVID19 diagnosis or test as far as I could tell.

Another friend who it turns out is in Las Vegas again, seems to be camping in a local forest, but no mention of any symptoms. He’s just a loner with a canine who would do long haul driving with his truck. He won’t accept help, so you just let them be.

I have no idea about any relatives, and things are such after decades that I don’t care, because they have proven it’s not worth the effort. That’s the history and they don’t change and it’s no benefit to me under circumstances. They’ve proven that, too. So I won’t be mentioning them again.

Order via Amazon whenever you can. Don't go out if you can avoid it except for your walks.

One thing I am grateful for every day is all of you. Having you here is like being surrounded by old and new friends.  I am so glad we have this community.

This is a good article...I am reaching out for ways to help.

Singapore will be on lockdown until May 4th because of the rise of coronavirus cases, and I'll only return to work on the 5th. My job cannot be done at home, but I'm keeping busy with online learning and meeting my friends online.

UPDATE: my state had an increase of 127 cases between Wednesday and Thursday getting us up to near 1300 to date statewide, with three more deaths. My county has the third highest total c ashes around 170, with one death. 77 of our 99 counties have at least one case, so it’s definitely reaching the rural counties across the state. Will put Friday’s report when it comes out. Friday the governor announced 118 new positive cases brining the statewide total to 1388. There were 2 new deaths, with a total of 31 to date. Is this the peak? I’m not so sure it is.

My freind in Las Vegas did go see a hospital on Tuesday as it turned out. He was sent to find a place to shelter and he’s supposed to see the hospital tomorrow for the results. My suspicion is that he has the flu. He felt really bad Monday, saw medical on a Tuesday given a prescription and he felt 80 percent better the next day. A lot of folks are overlooking the fact that even before COVID19 came to the US, we were in the midst of a really bad flu season. And most people can’t tell the difference in symptoms. I probably could as I had double viral pneumonia three different times when I was younger, hospitalized twice, and before flu shots were developed, I had those enough time, I developed an immunity to most strain. And I’ve gotten flu shots and pneumonia shots as appropriate ever since. But I’ve got a better handle on his situation and it’s messy. I suspect he’s wanting to get a fresh start, but I did help him to figure out some of the benefits under the CARES Act that he can or can try to get. But it’s a mess 25 years in the making for him. He showing less stubbornness and got through some of it finally. In the past you couldn’t tell him anything.

So there’s that.

Just catching up on this thread. I hope everyone is safe and healthy and self-isolating when possible.

I'm in the Metro Vancouver area and we've been taking social distancing measures and closing non-essential businesses. My husband has a residential/commercial glass business and has decided to remain open - there have lots of break-ins to business with the shops being closed and thieves looking for stuff. We have a small crew and taking all safety precautions. I have moved my office to my home - I'm in our front foyer now, the dining table was  my first home office but to central station.

The kids are home now and taking on-line schooling and on-line dance classes. We are tackling indoor home renovation projects and stuff around the yard, but I can see the kids getting bored and missing their friends. Face-timing and zoom classes are the norm now. I even taught my mother how to face-time as she lives a ways from me. I grocery shop about once a week and have not seen any toilet paper yet (I'm now starting to get low).

The local government has even closed provincial parks before the Easter long weekend anticipating crowds at popular parks and beaches. Many people are ignoring the stay-at-home, social distancing precautions. I see a few homes in my neighbourhood still having late-night parties and get-togethers. Don't they know?

As soon as this is over I will be frequenting the local shops, restaurants and businesses that have had to close down.

Everyone take care.

What is it for? To wage a war? ???

The US cannot compel its citizens to return. There are saying if one is a US citizen on non-essential travel with plans to do so, they need to make arraignments as soon as possible, that was a week ago. A number of countries have since closed their borders to nonessential travel, or all travel.

That is different than the second news item you links which deals with foreign nations who aren’t being accepted in the US or who cannot remain because their permits or visa have been withdrawn or have expired. If a home country is refusing to accept their citizens or residents, then the US will plan sanctions against that country.

Two unrelated actions.

:ghug: Hi, all. I'm new to this forum, but not new to reality forums. I stumbled upon this one tonight because I was just thinking about all of the joy I used to get from Big Brother/Survivor/TAR forums and at a time like this, it's nice to have a good distraction so here I am.

So, I'm currently in California (originally from Kentucky) and it's been an interesting time. I work at a major theme park here in California and I've been out of work due to Covid-19 since March 14th and we're not expected to open until June...if that. I've been in quarantine ever since I came home from work on March 13th and I've only left the house once to get groceries. These last couple weeks, I've been getting my groceries delivered. If you leave the house, go to the store, ride in an Uber, etc then you're expected to wear a mask. Thankfully, a friend of mine offered to sew me some masks.

There have been over 16,000 people infected in the county I'm in and everything is still mostly closed. Parks, beaches, hair salons, etc. I was watching the news tonight and they showed a lot of people gathering at the beaches here, despite them being closed. The police will be fining people at the beaches that are disobeying the stay-at-home order. It was 98 degrees today and it'll be in the mid 90s again tomorrow. I know it's hot and people want to go to the beach to cool off, but the best thing to do right now is stay home.

Welcome to RFF panikmoon! So glad you found us.

We are having the same issues here (Ga) as our Governor has unwisely opened up multiple non-essential businesses.

I saw some of the FL beaches that were opened and there was no safe distancing or masks going on.  As a medical professional that is literally terrifying. I hope we can start finding better ways to lighten restrictions without risking lives. For now I too am being compulsively safe. The only good thing about 90 degree weather is that there is some hope heat will reduce the spread. TBD.

We have a great community here, I hope you have fun. Please browse around and find places to join in. Great discussion is the most thought producing and fun thing we do. Survivor (US and AUS) and all versions of Amazing Race are our most popular.

Amazing Race 32 airing is coming soon (that's my favorite lol) and you can read and join in all the episode discussion live time if you like or after. Cast reveal soon, poor teams have been waiting over two years. We are known for our live tracking spoilers so if you don't mind knowing stuff that is a fun thread. But if you prefer being unspoiled those threads are clearly marked.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions, we welcome you!

Thank you! I too am a huge TAR fan, so I'm looking forward to this season. It'll be a good distraction from all of the crazy things going on in the world. It has been too long since it last came on and it came back at the perfect time because we need this now more than ever with everything Coronavirus going on. I'll be checking out that section of the forum soon.

As I mentioned before, I'm originally from Kentucky and I lived there for over 25 years. I spoke with my mother today about how the Coronavirus is affecting my home state and its been crazy over there. Recently there was a protest to "open Kentucky" and a few hundred showed up...very few wore a mask and even fewer practiced social distancing. Honestly, it's just not the time for that right now, especially not where I'm from (Eastern Kentucky, an incredibly rural area) because there aren't very many hospitals around and the hospitals that are there aren't well equipped to handle so many cases of COVID-10 properly. For example, even before COVID-19, if you were to become incredibly sick at our local hospital, you would be flown to a hospital over 2 hours away to be treated. That hospital is treating the majority of cases in Kentucky. I believe the state is now at 3,905 cases with 205 deaths and this is just in a few weeks. If the people of my state don't take this seriously, that number of cases will skyrocket and I'm so, so worried about my mother and my grandparents.

This is a very irresponsible post.

It’s really not. Cases have dropped in Victoria dramatically since the start to mid April. Queensland and Western Australia are going to start to reopen activities on Friday. Tasmania & SA are sending their kids back to school? Why are Victorians suffering, when the Prime Minister AND Australia’s Chief Medical Officer says it is perfectly acceptable to send children to school. The Premier has loved power ever since he was first elected in 2014. Andrews would love to keep us ‘locked up’,  cause Andrews is a borderline socialist/communist. However Matthew Guy lost the election in 2018 is behind my belief. Hurry up and put Michael O’Brien in power, he would at least be responsible in the handing of this crisis!

Speaking from years of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine...putting children into any environment where they are in close quarters with limited understanding of maintaining a safe distance is asking for trouble. Reopening schools is hopefully going to be one of the last things to happen.

Love you Bourkie but your info/source is definitely wrong about this.

As an American citizen, I cannot even begin to describe how deeply this offends me. In the States, we've had protests earlier in the lockdown over haircuts, an incredibly petty and selfish demand. However, these protests are over decades of mistreatment, abuses of power, including police brutality, overt racism, and much more. Everyone I know that has gone to a protest has done so with the utmost caution. I'm seriously disappointed to read this.

One of the BEST things happening during this horrible time in America is how people of many different backgrounds and beliefs are coming together, learning from each other, and having open discussions about very difficult issues. I want RFF to also continue to be a place where that happens.

What is happening in America is people standing together in opposition to a horrendous crime. I am so proud to see our people coming together over this. At the same time, others are trying to use this as an opportunity to promote further dissent and disruption, so research and fact checking is warranted.

And Covid safety is still very much required. If you are going out, be very very careful. Wear the best mask you have. Add an extra layer with a coffee filter (and activated charcoal) if you can find it. Remember your hand sanitizer. If you can, protect your eyes. There is good research showing that droplets into your eyes are very dangerous, just if not more as into your nose and mouth. Wear some sort of glasses and watch for a chance to get something like these. I got mine at an Ace hardware store for under $6. Pic to follow.

Imagine how big of a problem racism is if tens of thousands of people are showing up to protests despite a current pandemic. Nearly all people attending protests are very aware that coronavirus is a threat and most are taking precautions while protesting. It's courageous that American citizens as well as people in other countries are doing one of the best things they can do to bring awareness to an issue.

Some protests in America are very peaceful (see Lincoln, Nebraska cops dancing with community members), while some have escalated.

This article seems to be trying to show both sides.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-52931409

As a medical professional I cringed at the unprotected, No PPE,  in close contact crowds at the many USA protests. And cried at the injustices. But I also deplored the looting the followed.

As a human being, I believe strongly that some causes do require drastic means. This is a time for communication, protests against wrongs, and CHANGE. Some of my activist moments back in the day did help effect change. But there is more than one way to bring forth change.
I am also so very thankful that in the USA we will ALL be having a huge chance to VOTE in the coming weeks and months. Choosing our political voices is a powerful tool.  Hoping for a better future for us all.

If you do go despite the orders, PLEASE be careful out there. Be safe, be wise, be kind.  :kuss:

Love you all! :2hearts:

Well, there are really two sides in every story.
We can't actually know what prejudice feels until we've felt it ourselves. So it's tough to tackle this issue with "knowledge".

We need to stand up for minorities who die everyday of circumstances brought on by years of prejudice and discrimination.
And we also need to protect ourselves and stop COVID, who is also killing at a fast pace.

I just don't think the way forward is to help one group with the consequence that it will harm another group.
We need to take care of all minorities, and that includes both the aborigines and the elderly, who are at high risk of death from COVID.

In conclusion: no conclusion.
Be safe and take care of others!

Breaking my silence. Apologies to Peach in advance since I know our golden rule, but I cannot simply sit still any longer reading his posts.

Bourkie, you are a hypocrite and an idiot. You complain about the Democratic Party of Australia ruining your plans.

Then you complain about schools being closed, saying children are not susceptible to COVID-19. I don't know what bubble you were in when you said that, but that is 100% untrue. Anyone can get COVID-19.  Locking people at home is an active response rate to a global pandemic, not socialism. You are proving yourself with that post no better than the "Americans" who took to the streets just for a haircut.

But the straw that breaks the camel's back is your golden gem of a post here.

Please, please, please, people in Australia, DO NOT attend the Black Lives Matter protests happening around the country tomorrow. Do you people WANT a second wave and an even HARDER lockdown this time around, because of your selfishness?  :groan:

And the Premiers allowing these protests to ahead (ahem, DANIEL ANDREWS, STEVEN MARSHALL) I have no words  :groan: :groan: :groan:

Suddenly you want to silence the protestors, you want to go fish, you want to get your license, you want schools to open but PROTEST? PROTEST? NO NO NO STAY HOME WE WILL GET A SECOND WAVE!!!!!

Couple that with your post history on here and several aspects (defending Bolsonaro, wanting Brexit to happen "on Halloween <3", among other things), there's really nothing else to describe you other than someone so far right that you're not any other adjectives.

You're just wrong.

I hope people participating in demonstrations take care of themselves during this period of the COVID-19 pandemic.

I understand that some people may treat participation in demonstrations as a must-do activity that shows a positive attitude. It does work, but may be effective only for a while. In history there have been numerous demonstrations against racism, but a decade later similar cases may happen again. Such a "historical cycle" shall not be continued. We've got to come up with some ideas to eradicate racism, which I think is a step further than the temporary "Black lives matter." (Beware that Asians and some other minorities are facing discrimination as well...) There must be more ways.

This is a subject that brings forth strong emotions.

I hope that we can all learn and grow together.  Hearing a multitude of opinions will help all of us to see new possibilities.

Let's go easy on personal comments and discuss the ISSUES.

Peach story: I was once a GOOD little very Southern girl...a little shy, the good girl in class. Good grades, good deeds, went to Cotillion, volunteered at the hospital...boring. Very conservative...it was all I knew.

My church sent me to a world conference for high schoolers. I was suddenly in with kids from all over, Black Panthers, Viet Nam activists, you name it...every far left group of the time was there. I had an epiphany....and my life changed 360 degrees.

I took paths I never dreamed of..  Fought the battles of my times, traveled the world. Learned.

So...I promise each of you: Life is not static. We are here to learn, feed our souls and GROW...and Most importantly, to help others.

Someday you will all look back and tell YOUR kids about the crazy things you used to believe.

Make me proud okay?  Love you all!  :2hearts:

So...let's educate each other, share our stories, but RESPECT others opinions as well. That's how we learn and grow.
And growing is WHY we are all here. We have THIS lifetime to learn...grow...develop.

Make the most of it.

It would appear the “dreaded second wave” may have started in some US states, such as Georgia, Florida, Texas, and possibly California. Of course in three of those states, their governors started reopening and relaxing stay at home orders back in May. But no evidence yet of a trigger of new infections related to the protests and demonstrations after the in custody murder of George Floyd in Minneapoils.

It is suspected that the recent Beijing COVID-19 cases, which were found at the seafood market, result from the imported salmon. The viruses were detected on the chopping board of the imported salmon.

The news cites the doctor's comment that "It can't be ruled out that salmon came to China with COVID-19. The virus contacted the seafood market staff, found the human host, and led to the further spread of human to human."

Although the rest of the country is in Phase 4 going into Phase 5; the rumor is that we're closer to return to Phase 2 (and even 1) than advancing to Phase 4 due to the significant increase of confirmed cases (that now are near two thousands a day).

Jacksonville is a mess; we're in the top three cities in the country for new cases, and Florida is approaching New York levels of new daily cases, 3 months later  :groan:

DeSantis celebrated too soon, now we're in scramble mode. To make matters worse, the Republican National Convention is coming, and between our two Republican Senators, Republican Governor, Republican Representative, and Republican Mayor, it seems no one's willing to break ranks and question the merits of a physical convention. Not to mention the rush that comes with a convention that's actively being planned over the course of two months- some precautions may be hastily planned. I'm worried this is going to spread the disease even more- people may say that those worried can just stay home, but convention vendors may not have a choice if their paychecks are on the line. Definitely in a worried state.

Two weeks after Trump’s failed rally in Tulsa, there’s been a spike in COVID19 cases in that area.
A number of people with the White House, the Trump campaign, and law enforcement, including Donald Trump, Jr., girlfreind (a campaign official) tested positive at or since that rally.
In Mississippi, a number of legislators who convened to repeal the law over the state flag have tested positive for COVID19. And in Texas, the mayor of Houston cancelled the state GOP convention from convening in person due to the rapid spike of cases there. Other cities in Rexas are also having spikes, along with Arizona and Florida. And coincidentally, these were three states that were among the earliest to reopen.
Here in Iowa, there’s been a steadily increasing new spike in cases, but the governor is refusing to allow local officials to imposed mandatory mask requirements. The governor in Florida is also trying to prohibit a mask requirement, but several countries in Florida have “home rule” status, which means they have rights under the state constitution that allow such requirements to be imposed.
So there is absolutely no coordination nationally or within a number of states as to protective measures at this point.
One estimate I saw reported a couple of days ago is the without mask requirements across the US, there could be a death toll of 200,000 by Election Day.

I feel you bookworm. We had 15k positive tests today in FL and a record number of deaths. 15k is far higher than even the worst days in NY and there are no signs of slowing down. Down by me in Miami we've had a 20% positive test rate for a few weeks now, and they want to open schools in a month?!?!

My aunt is a pre school teacher and they opened up her school for summer camp at the beginning of June. One teacher tested positive within a day or two of opening and they didn't do anything about it until a few days later when 5 or 6 more teachers tested positive including my aunt and ended up closing the school camp after being open for just a week. Probably came in with a kid and spread to probably a 100+ people through the other kids. Sure the kids are probably all fine but are their parents and families? What do they think will happen if they open up schools in 5 weeks?

It's scary. The scariest part isn't even the virus, its the willful ignorance and lack of care or action from our state government. Luckily our local government is attempting to put in as much a lockdown as possible but that doesn't sound like the case for Jacksonville. We also aren't planning to have people from all over the country fly in for a convention in a few weeks.

Hang in there Bookworm, it's a scary time in this state.

Coping here in the UK! It’s been a difficult past few months but now with the country starting to reopen it does feel like some things are happening a tad too late (e.g. mandatory face coverings in shops from the 24th July, 4 months after the pandemic really started) but fortunately numbers coming down.

Personally it’s been difficult as unfortunately I lost a family member due to Covid-19 who I was very close to which was sad, and the funeral that followed at the time during much stricter lockdown restrictions were definitely very weird, but it’s good to see that at least for now it does look like we’re dragging our heels towards the end of it (until a potentially inevitable second wave comes about later on this year)

On other hand, it's possible that Indonesia have reached +1 million cases in relation to asymptomatic cases and people are beginning to care less about the issue.

Yeah, it's sad to see what happen now in Indonesia. Some people are already starting to go back to the office, which causing new clusters appear in some office buildings.

Some are also don't want to be tested because they are afraid that if they are tested positive then they have to self-quarantine, thus making them unable to work for money (some of them are market vendors or workers who get their salary in daily period). Basically, there's this dilemma for some of either prioritizing your health or your financial condition.

Also because Indonesia is a pretty religious country, some people are already started going to church every Sunday or mosque to pray but still with the social distancing applied. These people usually have the mindset of "Your life is in God's hands. So if you're dead it's because of God's plan, not because of the disease", which is really hard to prohibit them from going to church or mosque.

There are also false claims with the discovery of so-called COVID-19 medicines from some public figures (even from a fake expert a couple of days ago). Those so-called medicine are actually some kind of herbal mix that they claim to cure the disease.

Even my colleague once said that: "There are already millions of people recovered from the virus in the world, so there must be some kind of medicine already exist that cures them. Why the hospitals not just publish to the public what medicine they used to cure the victims?" I really don't know how to respond to that.

We’re seeing what was feared with reopening of elementary and secondary schools across the US in a number of states. There are positive test results among students on their first day, if not their first week, and schools are having to close back down.

Update Sunday August 9th:

One high school in Georgia where two students posted images on social media and were suspended from the school, has now reported positive test results for more than one person. US student and medical privacy laws don’t allow names to be disclosed.

Update Sunday evening August 9th:

That high school in Georgia has now decided to shift to virtual learning for an indeterminate time.

There’s been some brighter spots at some universities especially those with health care systems attached. They’re able to enforce very strict bubble guidelines for students to even return to campus, and frequent testing with the means to isolate students, faculty or staff if there’s a positive result, and finding ways for student-athletes to practice for their fall season. Most major division 1 conferences are playing a schedule mostly or completely within each conferences while most other leagues and conferences are cancelling fall sports schedules or at least postponing the games until spring 2021.

This is seriously scary and will have diabolical consequences for my state if this legislation passed. Any politician who votes for the extension of these dictatorial powers may as well be voting to erode democracy as we know it. The power has gone to the Premier's head

https://7news.com.au/lifestyle/health-wellbeing/premier-extends-victorias-state-of-emergency-by-18-months-c-1260869

sir all it means is that *providing the pandemic continues* that the government can continue to implement a state of emergency unless of course you think we are not currently in a pandemic?

Not the way I read it? Its seems to be a matter of public safety and applying emergency powers  when needed? Try to read both sides and then make an informed decision yourself. In my country it is FOX news that is  consistently publishing false information as facts. Do your own research. Don't take one article as fact. You may be surprised.

I dont even know why I'm surprised with Bourkie's alt right conspiracy theories always being in this thread but at this point if you're not bothering to educate yourself and you're definitively stuck in your ways by now, there's no hope anymore.

He has said somewhere in this forum that he's right wing, so it doesn't come off to me as a surprise anyway.

I'm not one to devalue anyone else's experiences, but I don't quite think it's fair to complain about the "erosion of democracy" due to an extension of a state of emergency when there are members of this forum living under Trump/Duterte/Bolsonaro.

I agree with you all.

But moving forward lets keep this thread about Covid and not make personal comments about each other please?

Most of the imported cases in China are related to frozen food where the virus can stay alive for a very long time.

I recommend staying away from frozen food for this period of time.

I doubt about the accuracy of the nucleic acid test. A "negative" result does not ensure the testee is safe.

There was a case in Dalian, China keeping showing negative until he had his 11th nucleic acid test.

Only China seems to be making these claims. I’ve not seen anything like these out of other countries, including the US. And no medical test is 100% perfect.

I took the first shot 9 days ago (Pfizer). Had a terrible arm pain the following 2 days, but nothing else.

When I was vaccinated back in February, the only certain side effect I noticed was a hard knot in my arm at the injection site both times. Can’t be sure of any others because they may have been indistinguishable from symptoms such as muscle stiffness, allergies or mild head colds that I get all the time especially with weather extremes, which have been constant here since the pandemic set in.

Need prayer & support from you guys, because the situation in Singapore is pretty bad at the moment. Thankfully my family & friends are all safe at the moment but the restrictions are getting to me.

There must be something we've missed concerning the recent COVID epidemic situation in Xi'an, Shannxi Province of China.

We've already known the source, but no idea yet about the virus transmission chain. Some people doubt about the air conditioning system of the airport, but experts rule out this possibility.

It's been a while since I've last talked here.

Covid hit me hard like a month ago. And I'm in a pretty athletic and lean shape.

By the 3rd day, I was almost fainting, could barely stand up on my feet as I was getting medications for me and my mother at the pharmacy.

Luckily, we got out.

Tested Negative the following week. One day later, we travelled to Blumenau to see my brother. I had to play the Valle Cup (Padel Tournament) with him.

Went to the Cardiologist before the tournament. Everything was fine with me.

We played the tournament all the way to the Final, where we lost a close one (7/5, 1/6, 8-10). Runner Up!

Crazy. In a matter of 10 days I was feeling pretty bad and ended up having a magic tournament I'll never forget.

Anyways, hope you are all safe and well.
