Here in the Heart of Australia's Northern Territory, this is the finish line, one team will step on the mat to win $250k
Teams start heading from Australia to the race start line to Seoul, South Korea
They come from all walks of life.
Judy & Therese are introduced - they think the other teams will be threatened cause they have the big guy on their side.
Femi & Nick - Emergency nurse and ??. Femi plays high level sport, Nick plays video games lol
Viv & Joey - we're short but height is part of who we are
Rowah & Amani - Mother / Daughter, Mom is the strongest person I know. Amani is god's gift to me, she's the strongest part I know.
No phones, no tech, only their backpacks, traveling over 40000km, battling physical and mental challenges. conquering thei fears and facing off against the elements and ultimately each other. Welcome to TAR Australia!
Seoul is the 5th largest megacity on the planet and the start of TARAustralia. We're in front of city hall for the start of one epic global adventure!
Tommy & Tyler are ready to race! They've played footy for the past 6 years and don't think anyone can beat them
Rowah & Amani think they can win, they have the advantage of living and knowing each other. Beau comes back with a smart ass remark lol
Jasmine & Jerome are racing for the Indigenous community and their 2 year old son
First clue is on top of their back packs. Good luck, race hard, race safe go!!
Teams sprint to their bags. Make your way to the top of Namsam Seoul Tower and go to the observation deck and search the city below for your next clue. Bank west halo ring holds their cash for this leg!
Hayley & Mikayla steal tom and Tyler's taxi. First in best dressed!
Hayley & Mikayla are from N QLD and love the outdoors. Very competitive with each other and with others. Tyler says they'll get the girls back later for stealing their taxi.
Judy & Threase celebrating that they're not last. Alana & Niko can't find a taxi. Ooops I lost my stream,
Tyler & Tom & Viv & Joey are first to the tower and agree to work together for the leg. Tyler wants to help others out as they'll help them back later down the track.
They're looking for race flags at the observation deck to find their next destination.
Alana drops her water bottle as she gets out of the taxi and trips on the guardrails
Ash & Sid read the clue and then just run below the tower... LOL. Right after they claim they're going to read the clues very carefully haha. Now they're argueing because they cant decide on what to do. The clue also shows us teams got Korean money.
Once they find the location down below, they need to match it to a postcard in the tower, which will provide the location's address. Then they need to travel to the Stone Time Capsule (where the flag is) to find the next clue.
Hayley & Mikayla find the flag and the matching postcard. Tom & Tyler copy the postcard the girls select and decide to just follow them. The siblings and footy guys then jump the queue down the lift and steal the lead from the girls.

Sid & Ash are still below the tower. They reread the clue and realise they need to be up to search the city below. They've lost an hour and someone's gonna now have to pay for their mistake.
Jasmine & Jerome are still searching and see the flag, as do Tim & Rod. Same with Rowah & Amani and the nurses. Now Alpaca farmers are searching. They've been married for 35 years. The other teams will think their old farts and not a threat. Adrienne has been the first female Firefighter in SA and is the strongest woman he knows.
Tyler & Tom pass Ash & Sid on the way up, and tell them they went the wrong way. The boys & siblings think their lying when they say they're going the wrong way. They also lie to Jasmine & Jerome who turn back omggg.
Tyler & Tom reach the capsule and see the clue under the Australian sign. Tyler ****s up ripping the clue and says they dont teach you how to do it in TAR tutorials LOL
RB: Who's ready for a river dance? Fly boarding at the Haan River, they need to get 2ms out of the water to get their clue.
Joey & Viv get the clue, Joey's gonna do it.
Judy & THerese have the wrong postcard and are gonna go to the wrong place. Niko & Alana have the same incorrect postcard and are gonna go to the wrong place. "BOOM, that's it" :lol: They head off in a taxi
Judy & Therese stop to pray and hope they can figure out the clue lol. Ash & Sid finally rock up and find it quickly. Judy & Therese finally realise their mistake and head to the capsule.
A whole bunch of teams reach the RB and pick their performer, idr who. Rowah realises what the challenge is on the taxi and is freaking out.
Tyler & Tom are first to the RB. Tom thinks Tyler is coordinated and can do it. He barely makes it out of the water on his first attempt.
Viv & Joey rocks up, Joey says this is 3xs his height so he's nervous. Mikayla's getting suited up and is also nervous. Tyler is getting better, but Tom says he's too fat and had too many burgers :lol:
Ash & Sid find the capsule but cant see the clue under the memorial lol. Commercial break

Back at the capsule, Ash & Sid are still searching. They're legit standing above it and then Sid steps back and sees it. Ash asks what's wrong with them :lol: Ash and Judy are doing the RB. Therese and Judy are joking and and Therese snorts out her water LOL. They hope another team is at Tower L. Cut to the Greek siblings, they're happy they're going to Tower L cause they've got what it takes
Tyler quickly finishes the RB and they find they've got a Detour. Fold Em Fast and Stack Em High. Fold em Fast is folding 50 dumplings in a market to get their clue. At a uni gym, they need to attempt cup stacking 12 cups in 8 seconds or less. Tom & Tyler are doing stack em
At Lotte Tower, Niko and Alana are searching for a "message from home". They joke they've found the wrong postcard until they finally realise that's the case. They head back to the tower to find the right postcard.
Joey is getting smacked around in the water. Tim, Nick and Mikayla all trying to get to 2m. Joey finally gets the clue, as does Mikayla. Nick & Tim also finally gets it. They all choose stack em high except for Tim/Rob who do the dumplings.
Tim & Rod, say it was love at first sight. Now they're asking what dumplings are omg.
Tom & Tyler arrive at the cups and say how card can this be. Then they watch the demo and start freaking out. They start learning the configuration of the cups and begin stuffing up.
At the dumplings, Tim and Rod arrive and search for the marked stall. They watch the demo and start making them.
Jasmin finishes the RB and do Fold em Fast. Rowah is struggling to get out of the water at all. Amani says she's a personal trainer. Rowah says she wants to show that no matter your race or colour you can do anything, strong women. She finally gets it and chooses stack em high.
Tyler is screwing up the stacks and is frustrated, Tom says he's having a tantrum but he claims he's cool calm and collected. LOL yeah right.
Alana & Niko arrive back at the N Tower and say they're still in it, you never know. Niko says they need to take their time, they searched for 5 seconds last time. Alana says they're really frazzled and can't find the clue again. Commercial break.

The flyboarding Roadblock was underwhelming after the one from Canada's finale. That task they had to fly twice as high plus hit a target.
I'm surprised by Sid & Ash so far, having pegged them as the villain team. They're a little too intense out of the gate, and it's causing them to make the simplest of errors.

At the tower, Alana & Niko continue searching and Alana thinks she's finally found it. She points out the capsule and she finds the correct postcard. They head down the tower to the capsule.
Chris & Adrienne arrive at the RB and Arienne is doing it. She's use to a powerful hose and finishes the RB really quickly. She says she wants to play more in the river lololol. They pick fold em fast.
Jasmin & Jerome find the dumpling restaurant and begin making them. They have to make 50 and present to the head chef to check if they're to his liking. Theirs look a bit demented. Tim & Rod hope the stacking is just as hard as this.
Tyler & Tom are all over the place and Tyler is losing his **** LOL. They take their first attempt and are not even close. Tom completely stuffs it.
Ash arrives at the RB and is wearing leopard print pants. She gets it and they're out of there. He rips the detour clue into her face. THey pick the dumplings. Tim & Rod are done with the dumplings & get a check. They need to remake two more to get it.
Viv & Joey arrive at the cups and study the demo. Tyler and Tom are on their third shown try and get it. "It's just a couple of cups. Make your way to Seoullo 7017 Bridge and search for your first pitstop. Some Kpop dancers are the greeters. Tom & Tyler says everyone will switch cause its so hard.
Viv & Joey do their 2nd attempt and smash it so quickly. Hayley & Mikalyla also get it in 1 attempt. They're off to the pitstop in 3rd.
Tim & Rod finish the dumplings and are off to the Pitstop. They're covered in flour lol.
Tom & Tyler arrive at the bridge and start searching, as did Viv & Joey. It's a footrace to the mat but Tom & Tyler come in first. Viv & Joey are 2nd. Looks like there was no prize.
Back at the river, Judy is starting the RB. Therese starts praying for the gift of levitation and Judy gets it. Judy claims she's walking on water LOL :lol:

At the market, Sid & Ash start to make their dumplings. Jasmin/Jerome & Chris/Adrienne greet them, but Jasmin and Jerome recall they sent them the wrong way earlier. They'll keep it in mind for later.
At the PS, the sister check in as team number 3, Tim & Rod are team number 4. They thought they were heaps further behind.
Femi & Nick are at the cup stacking and just miss it on the 5th attempt. They finally finish and get their clue. Rowah and Amani are slow but are giving it a good crack. Rowah takes 16 seconds, more than double the time.
Jasmin & Jerome finish their 50 dumplings and need to redo none of them and get their clue. Ash & Sid keep pumping. The nuns arrive and Jerome and Jasmin warn them of Ash & Sid's lies on the way out. The alpaca farmers finish the detour and get their clue.
Rowah & Amani are still going, Rowah is pumping her up to still go. They show they're on their 28th attempt. Rowah says she's so sorry but Amani says get over it and to do it. They finish it on their 29th attempt and cheer as they run out the door.
Femi & Nick reach the PS and are team number 5. Beau comments on the size of their arms LOL. Jasmin & Jerome check in as team #6. Chris & Adrienne are on their tails as team #7.
3rd Time at the capsule, Alana & Niko finally find the clue, Alana is doing the RB. They cheer they finally find a clue LOL.
Ash & Sid and the nuns at the dumplings. The nuns go downstairs to get more dough and Ash suggests taking a dumpling of theirs. Sid reaches over and gets one. Sid says he's doing to hell after this. Commercial break

At the dumplings, Ash mentions they stole a dumpling when the nuns went downstairs. The nuns offer some dough as they come back up and Sid says they're good :lol: Ash & Sid get a check and finish the detour. They're off the PS in the taxi and say they cant believe they stole from the nuns and hope the ladies dont get eliminated.
Judy & Therese think they're last but aren't giving up. They start praying for some guidance from above.
Alana & Niko are still staying positive and say they're a new city they've never been to so it's all good until the fat lady sings.
Rowah & Amani check in 8th place. Ash & Sid are 9th and still in it.
The nuns finally finish the detour. They still think they're last and being eliminated. Niko & Alana say everything that could have gone wrong has gone wrong. They cant find the roadblock, but then find the location is now closed. They get directed straight to the pitstop.
Judy & Therese are in the cab and think they're going home unless some other sucker got lost. The girls need Beau and a miracle. They reach the mat in 10th place and shriek in delight. They can't believe they're still in it.
Alana & Niko reach the pitstop. They say thank you to the Greeter. They have been eliminated. They say its okay, you can only move forward. They say they're the first team to not complete one detour or roadblock. They say they made history, just on the wrong side of it lmao.
Next time, teams continue the battle for 250k. They travel from Seoul to the most heavily guarded border on earth. Some teams fall while others fly, when we continue the world's biggest adventure!

What did everything think of the first leg? I thought it was fairly generic tbh but still enjoyed it nonetheless! So happy the Nuns survive :conf: their faces at the pit stop :funny:
Alana and Niko were a bit hopeless, definitely shouldn’t have followed the nuns lead at the Tower - after that HUGE mistake it was clear they were going home. Poor rep of Gen Z! I think I’m going to have to apply next year ... haha

I think once you got past the weird start it was pretty decent for a 1 hour premiere. Especially considering the fact we had both a RB + Detour + ARI (though that may be offset by the non-AU start).
The teams have room to grow, but at least we had some drama between the sisters/footy blokes and nuns/instagramers. My biggest worry this season will be the production side of things, I think the cast can bring it.

But also you're right, Niko/Alana were such a waste of a spot. Actually just straight up hopeless. Other than Eric/Lisa and Lisa/Nicole have we ever had a team not even complete a single challenge on a season?
Also Beau is kinda obnoxious as a host, I think he'll take at least another season to sharpen up. Twitter seems to agree with me.

Definitely agree, it had a little bit of a slower pace - hope the intensity picks up throughout the season!
Beau is certainly over the top but I actually don't mind it - gives us some personality unlike the boring Grant Bowler. But is he going to hug every team at every pit stop???! :funny: :ghug:

His take on hosting definitely makes it a lot more at home and personal! It's definitely gonna take some getting used to but it feels way more alive.

Nuns are just amazing. Almost cried out of happiness when they survived. The fact that they wanted to ask for more dough for Sid and Ash too just melted my heart. I just hope they somehow survive more legs. Overall, nice first leg but i liked it because of the teams. RB was nice but detour was kinda boring imo. Cast is really good and Beau is at least trying to be enthusiastic. So so happy the show is back. Hopefully it gets even better from here. Nuns :2hearts:

Kinda bored this leg.
I wish they introduced all the teams and then started the race. Felt the editing was all over the place. Teams popping up here and there all the time.

TAR Australia was the first international TAR I watch, so I'm so excited that it has finally returned.
Definitely agree that the premiere felt slower and the tasks were pretty simple on paper, but that wasn't a bad thing as the episode mainly served as a good introduction to a great group of teams. Still can't believe that Alana & Niko did so poorly on the first task.

I love how much the show hyped up Sid & Ash stealing from the nuns, and then it turned out be 1 measly dumping! Still worth it for Sid saying "I'm going to hell" :lol:
Even if they got 30 minutes for that, it wouldn't have made a difference in the end.

Just finished watching the episode!
Didn't mind the starting line in Seoul, I guess having it in Australia would just have separated even more the group in subgroup so in the end it gave everybody a chance I guess.
The first task was pretty simple and a classic (go up a tower and spot the flag) but I'm surprised at how many teams screwed up. It was cool that they had to go by foot to the location. Roadblock was okay, seemed easy. Detour was fun to have in the first leg.
Beau is ok, a bit annoying but ok so far.
Love almost all the teams. What a train wreck Nico/Alana were... how long was that drive to Lotte? It seemed to be dark when they found the first clue, and seemed to be after the first 3-4 teams checked in, based on the sun.
For leg 2, they seemed to be going to DongDucheon where tar 17 went, no?

It definitely could take an hour from N Seoul Tower to Lotte Tower.
It's about a 15 minute walk from the top of Namsan down to wherever they can catch a taxi. Unless they took the gondola up as well which would add a couple of minutes. Then in Seoul rush hour traffic, it could be anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. So two hours round trip or more would certainly have doomed the Siblings from the start. Especially when the RB and Detour could easily be done within 2 hours.

First off, massive thanks to Oval for updating while I couldn't last night! :cheer:
I've only seen half of the episode and I need to watch the other half, but can I just say WOW! I love Beau, he's totally different to Grant in some many ways! Love how he gets involved in the tasks as well, while he is explaining them!
Finally, the tasks his leg were great! In enjoyed all of them, sad to see Alana & Niko go, but hey, the Nuns are still in it! :conf:

I was underwhelmed, it felt more budget and much blander than it used to be. If this episode sets the tone it will definitely be easier than it was before.

I was so, so hyped for this return considering Season 2 is up there with some of the best Seasons of any version ever, but the first half was all over the place. Really hated the editing! Tim & Rod didn't even get an intro until over half way through and I don't remember if we got one for Nicko & Alana at all?
The second half was much better but surely the Influencers should've been penalised to some extent for intentionally interfering with another teams task?
Beau seems way too over the top! Especially with all the hugs at the Pitstop, wasn't a fan of that.
Finally, I wish we had an explanation or more focus on the starting line being outside Australia. That's a pretty big deal if you ask me?

Okay so first impressions:
- Editing is weird and makes me feel like I don't know each of the teams too well
- Teams so far don't seem too bad. Only teams I'm not fond of are the Influencers & something about the Footy Players rubs me the wrong way
- I don't like how they didn't start in Australia AND how they showed the finish line in the first episode. Takes away the element of surprise
- I miss Grant but I can dig Beau's energy. Might be a little over the top tho.
- Challenges were okay, though the Roadblock seemed easy and not culturally relevant.
- Interesting to see how money was given out this leg, I'll be interested to see if they keep doing it electronically
- No prizes?
Also, why weren't the Influencers penalized for sabotaging another team?
I hope the rest of the season is better.

The nuns are amazing. Truly~ Nearly cried when they made it.
And the fire fighter and the farmer are so much love.
I love how TAR Australia brings back some good old TAR memories. Just really simple clues (yet ambiguous) and some teams just don't get it. Great detour, great roadblock, great tasks. Love it!

Favourite part of the episode for me was watching the cheerleaders attempt to hug the teams :lol:
It was ok, but it just didn't seem like a starting leg, it was almost edited as if we already knew who the teams were, the gay couple weren't introduced until half way through the episode which was odd.
