The Bachelorette and The Amazing Race Australia are back in Q4, with the latter enjoying longer pre-production time to expand on travel destinations.
“We went through Asia & Africa as a starting point but we’d desire fresh locations this year, with a bit more time up our sleeve.”
“I got a call yesterday from some people at Ten and I didn’t really see the news about CBS but we’ve already changed our route twice with the Amazing Race to try and stay away from some of the Asian countries,” Beau told us.
“Why don’t you suggest the south island of New Zealand, Tasmania and Antarctica,” Kyle added sarcastically.
“Well in all honesty, if worst comes to worst we’re doing an Australian one,” Beau added, claiming the series could hold the competition solely in Oz instead of various countries around the world.
TV Blackbox can report exclusively that Network 10 have significantly altered production for the upcoming season of THE AMAZING RACE AUSTRALIA to make it a domestic-only season.
All participating teams will only travel to Australian locations due to current global health concerns around the spread of COVID-19/coronavirus. It’s a significant change to the show, hosted locally by Beau Ryan, as the format prides itself on placing contestant in foreign countries where particularly their challenges are exaggerated by the local culture and language.
Due to the significant pre-production process involving site and country visits 10 have taken an understandably cautious approach for all concerned.
The US version hosted by Phil Keoghan suspended production mid-season earlier this year which sent all cast and crew flying around the world back to America. This is understood to have been part of the reason behind 10’s decision.
A Network 10 spokesperson said:
“Due to the current cautions around international travel due to the COVID-19 outbreak, a domestic route has proven the safest option for the upcoming season of The Amazing Race Australia, which begins production in June this year.”
“The welfare of cast and crew is of the upmost importance and all necessary measures will be taken to ensure their protection. From tropical rainforests, to the arid, red desert of the outback and the cool mountainous hinterlands, we are confident that the sheer vastness and contrasting environment of Australia will create a unique and challenging backdrop to the most amazing race on earth.”
10’s Amazing Race Australia will not be travelling overseas for its upcoming season, due to concerns around COVID-19.
A Network 10 spokesperson told TV Tonight, “Due to the current cautions around international travel due to the COVID-19 outbreak, a domestic route has proven the safest option for the upcoming season of The Amazing Race Australia, which begins production in June this year.
A local route will deny the show some of the cultural clashes (and bad tourists) for which the show is known. But the decision follows CBS halting production on the US series which is currently in production.
Coronavirus concerns are increasingly impacting film and television productions around the world.
The Amazing Race Australia is expected in Q4 on 10.
There is a ban on more than 100 people indoors, however workplace arrangements may continue. While no studio audiences are proceeding, normal television production can continue with crews & talent. However as we’ve seen in recent days there are no guarantees any production underway or commencing will be completed on time.
Further, the rule on handshaking, hugging and social distancing will likely impact on numerous shows -including Drama and Reality: The Bachelor, Dancing with the Stars, The Block, Neighbours, Wentworth, The Amazing Race Australia, Harrow, Home and Away, Five Bedrooms, RFDS, Back to the Rafters, The Secrets She Keeps, The Bureau of Magical Things and more…
Australian Survivor has been postponed while The Amazing Race Australia claims it will film in domestic destinations.
Expect to see these travel restrictions to be lifted within the next 3-6 months (June-September), meaning the earliest we may film will be June/July and latest we will film will be September/October!
While the revamped MasterChef series has been well received by viewers, 10 has halted production on The Bachelor, Australian Survivor and hopes to film The Amazing Race in domestic destinations. The Bachelorette and The Masked Singer are also yet to begin filming.
Absent were a planned domestic season for The Amazing Race Australia and any sign of more Australian Survivor this year -both have been hit hard by restrictions.
Meanwhile hopes for The Amazing Race Australia to begin filming in June are also out.
“We continue to monitor domestic flight restrictions as well as social distancing regulations to ensure The Amazing Race Australia can go back into production at the right time,” the spokesperson added.
The series had originally set its sights on international but settled on local destinations. That’s still some way off given Step 1 of recovery is getting underway. TARA requires wide access and interaction by cast and crew.
Fingers crossed it can resume in coming months.

Last year, our hearts weren’t the only thing racing when 11 daring duos bungee-jumped, kayaked, goat-milked and skydived their way across the globe in pursuit of the $250,000 cash prize.
From folding dumplings to chowing down on century eggs, the race was filled with twists, turns and tantrums.
Last season’s winners, newlyweds Tim and Rod, said: “The Amazing Race Australia was the most incredible adventure of our lives. The race is an adrenaline rush like you’ve never experienced before and the memories will last a lifetime.”
Network 10 and ViacomCBS chief sales officer Rod Prosser said: “It’s fantastic that the next season of The Amazing Race Australia will be filmed entirely in Australia. This will be a welcome boost for local companies and the Australian tourism industry as the opportunities to integrate across a series which will explore some of the best places and products Australia has to offer will be made easier than ever.”
Host Beau Ryan will be back to wrangle the racers, guide them through each task and let them know their fate at each pit stop.
Beau said: “The experience will change you and your teammates life forever. If you’re looking to travel off the beaten path, all while having a crack at the massive prize, then give it a shot."
So, if you’ve got a packed suitcase but nowhere to go, and like the sound of a $250,000 cash prize, then lace up your sensible walking shoes, grab yourself an Akubra, swag and travel buddy, and apply today.
Good news from 10 with The Amazing Race Australia back on, albeit with a local route.
Production by Eureka will take place around Australia over a 7 week period later this year, for an ultimate $250,000 prize.

It isn’t clear if the show will still make it to air in 2020 or land in 2021.
I don't get that =/ A change of network is no reason to deny the first 3 existed.
Absent are Five Bedrooms (which recently resumed filming), Australian Survivor and The Amazing Race, with the latter to now film a domestic version for 2021. Also unconfirmed is the future of Playing for Keeps.
He made headlines after he scored a free upgrade to business class on a long-haul flight earlier this year, by pretending he had a broken ankle.
But on Friday, Australian YouTuber Jamie Zhu, surprised his followers when he teased a career change.
The 26-year-old vlogger, who just announced the release of his debut single Where U At?, told Daily Mail Australia that he's open to appearing on reality TV.
'I'm trying to diversify and think long-term as well,' Jamie told Daily Mail Australia this week.
The vlogger has amassed over 52 million YouTube views thanks to his cheeky sense of humour and regular pranks on his father, Zhu Xi.
And fans may see more of the duo, after it was revealed Channel Ten producers also asked them to appear together on The Amazing Race Australia.
'The Amazing Race recently contacted me to appear on the show with my dad, but he's living in China, so we will see,' he revealed.
However, when asked if he would ever appear on a reality dating show, he said: 'I'm not looking to get married anytime soon, so it's a no for Married At First Sight.'
'Love Island would be cool. I've had a few mates on there,' he added.
While Jamie has just released track Where U At?, he's keen to keep his fans guessing as to his next career move.
'I want to get into different things so my fans can stay on their toes and not know what to expect next,' he said.
'I don't want to die one day and not have done what I've intended to do in my life,' Jamie continued.
'I'm someone that just shoots for what I want and, you know, things sort of come out of that.'
Back in January, Jamie made headlines when he shared a video clip titled 'How To Fly Business Class For Free' to his 5.2million Facebook fans and his 2million TikTok followers.
After arriving at his allocated seat on the plane, he insisted to his fellow passengers and airline staff that his Moon Boot can't fit in the restricted leg room provided.
'It's not fitting,' he said.
'The boot doesn't fit in here. Can I get another seat or something? I can't fit here at all because of the boot. I've got a broken ankle.'
The air hostess said she had to get clearance from another staff member, but the bold ploy worked.
Jamie filmed himself enjoying the business class perks, including drinks, a fine dining menu, eye masks, extra leg room and comfy blankets and a pillow.
Production of The Amazing Race Australia was suspended earlier this year due to coronavirus fears.
And now the show's host, ex-NRL star Beau Ryan, has confirmed the new teams have been cast and filming will commence in the coming weeks.
'Luckily, we're still doing the show. We're going soon, but I can't say when,' Beau told Daily Mail Australia on Tuesday at the Stan Originals premiere for I Am Woman.
With international travel off the cards indefinitely because of the coronavirus pandemic, the series will be localised.
'We're disappointed we're not going overseas, but at the same time we've got some beautiful parts of Australia to see,' Beau said.
The Stan ambassador, 35, said recent recces [reconnaissance mission] by the production crew have suggested Victoria and Western Australia may be hard to include in the multi-leg race.
Beau also mentioned that travel restrictions and the potential of quarantining after the finale would mean he will be away from his family longer than originally planned.
'It looks like we're going to go for a lot longer. Nearly double the amount of time as last year's season.
'We'll probably be on the road eight-to-nine weeks, which is a lot. Longest I've ever done,' he said.
Beau said after Channel 10's first season was a hit with viewers last year, the network has decided to stretch the season out with more episodes on TV.
In March, Channel 10 announced they had changed the show's format from international to domestic travel.
A Channel 10 spokesman told Daily Mail Australia at the time: 'The welfare of cast and crew is of the upmost importance and all necessary measures will be taken to ensure their protection.'
They remained confident Australia's 'tropical rainforests, [the] arid red desert of the outback and cool mountainous hinterlands' would prove an entertaining challenge.
'The sheer vastness and contrasting environment of Australia will create a unique and challenging backdrop to the most amazing race on earth,' the spokesperson said.
Last year's season visited Thailand, South Korea, Vietnam, and Mongolia.
Newlyweds Tim and Rod Sattler-Jones were crowned the winners during the race's final leg in Africa.
'The Amazing Race Australia was the most incredible adventure of our lives,' the married couple previously told 10 play.
COVID’s curveball continues to keep networks on their toes as they deal with an ever-evolving crisis and finding a new normal.
Nobody can blame them for having to be nimble with their schedules, reeling from the great production shutdown of 2020.
But we haven’t heard much about a couple of key 10 titles which were last flagged to screen this year.
The Amazing Race Australia had to rethink its original ambitions to travel around the world, but later set its sights on domestic destinations. That was before border closures and state quarantine impacted. The Eureka series faces big hurdles to get its episodes in the can, but regional Australia where the virus is much lower may be the key.
Host Beau Ryan has told the Daily Mail Victoria and Western Australia may be hard to include in the next season.
“We’ll probably be on the road eight-to-nine weeks, which is a lot. Longest I’ve ever done,” he said.
10 is expected to confirm its plans at its coming Upfronts, but TV Tonight hears whispers the show could land early in Q1, especially given Australian Survivor is yet to regroup. This might explain a bigger output from the show…
Meanwhile the good news on Five Bedrooms is filming was completed several weeks ago in Melbourne after it was halted during the pandemic. 10 had also flagged this for 2020, but with no quotas required it too may land in 2021.
10 Upfronts are due in mid October, with The Amazing Race Australia tipped to take its place, at least in Q1.

With his trademark high energy and court jester spirit, The Amazing Race host Beau Ryan returned to filming the reality adventure series on location in Queensland this week.
While the series set off last year around the world, this season – in the time of coronavirus – the popular 10 tentpole has been forced to think on its feet and find a new route around Australia.
As Network 10 executive producer Cathie Scott told Saturday EXTRA, when the world went into shutdown back in March, “embarking on a travel reality format such as The Amazing Race Australia … presented us with immense challenges but also an incredible opportunity to re-imagine this much-loved format.”
After a successful return to air last year, “the onset of COVID and the travel restrictions that ensued meant that we had to reassess all of series 2 international route planning and quickly adapt to shooting totally within Australia,” Ms Scott said.
“A cleverly designed travel route across the country, with the highest level of COVID safety protocols in place, will highlight never before regions and cultures right on our front door.”
With production staff, as well as contestants and crew all forced into a two-week hotel quarantine, the new season set off this week, bracing for anything.
Beyond the basic social distancing protocols, TV productions like the Race have had to pivot their plans to ensure the safety of all cast and crew, while still maintaining the entertainment standards viewers have come to expect from the highly-engaging reality genre.
After an initial shutdown of all studio filming and outside broadcasts in March, slowly but surely the TV networks and production companies they hire to deliver their reality slate have come back to life.
It’s just that real life looks a little different now.
Production for The Amazing Race has resumed in Queensland, months after it was temporarily shut down.
And last week, the show's host Beau Ryan was spotted chatting to a crew member as he enjoyed a break from filming the show.
The ex-NRL star, 35, kept things cool and casual in a white T-shirt and black shorts as he sat on a wall outside a venue in Cairns.

Filming for The Amazing Race Australia has finally come to a close, after Channel 10 were forced to shut down production earlier in the year due to COVID-19 fears.
And despite the new series being localised across Australia due to the pandemic, it's reportedly one of the most 'extraordinary' seasons to date.
According to TV Tonight, Beverley McGarvey, Chief Content Officer for ViacomCBS Australia, said: 'The Amazing Race Australia finished filming on the weekend.
'The footage that I have seen so far is extraordinary. It really showcases our beautiful country and the teams competing this year are competitive, creative and very diverse.
'The teams at Eureka and 10 have done a superb job.'
It's not yet been confirmed when the show will air, but ex-NRL star Beau Ryan will be returning as the show's host.
The network released an action-packed trailer just last week, with contestants spotted exploring Australia while doing a series of challenges.
The show is expected to air after I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! has crowned its jungle king or queen.

A producer for The Amazing Race Australia has reportedly broken her back while testing out a challenge for the show.
Senior producer Yasmin Kara allegedly broke her vertebrae while attempting an obstacle which involved jumping into water, reports TV Blackbox.
The production team was given a safety briefing before testing out the challenge, the industry website claims.
Yasmin has more than a decade of experience in broadcast television. She was a challenge producer during last year's season.
A spokesperson for production company Eureka Productions said in a statement: 'Eureka complies with all applicable workplace health and safety laws.
'The safety and wellbeing of all the contestants and crew in any and all of Eureka's production environments is paramount.'
Daily Mail Australia has contacted Channel 10 for comment.
Filming for The Amazing Race recently wrapped up, after Channel 10 was forced to shut down production earlier this year due to Covid-19.
As reported by TV Tonight on November 21, network boss Beverley McGarvey said: 'The Amazing Race Australia finished filming on the weekend.
'The footage that I have seen so far is extraordinary. It really showcases our beautiful country and the teams competing this year are competitive, creative and very diverse.
'The teams at Eureka and 10 have done a superb job.'
It's not yet been confirmed when the show will air, but retired rugby league star Beau Ryan will be returning as host.

Tennis Australia has finally confirmed the Australian Open 2021 will take place from 8 to 21 February, officially pushing the event into ratings survey (Feb. 7).
“This will be an historic Australian Open on Tournament Director Craig Tiley said.
“For the first time in more than 100 years the Australian Open will start in February and we look forward to offering the players what we believe will be one of their best playing experiences in 2021.
“From the outset, ensuring players have the best possible preparation for the Australian Open, while at all times protecting the precious COVID-free environment that the Victorian community has built through incredible sacrifice and hard work over the past six months, has been paramount.
“It has taken eight months of working alongside government authorities, here in Victoria, nationally and interstate, to give us the opportunity to present an Australian Open that will play a major role in both the economic and psychological reinvigoration and rejuvenation of Melbourne and Victoria.”
Australian Open 2021 will feature singles, doubles and wheelchair competitions. AO qualifying will be held offshore, with the women’s event taking place in Dubai, and men’s qualifying in Doha from 10-13 January.
The world’s top players will arrive in Australia from 15 January and undertake mandatory quarantine for 14 days.
The later start date will push back the Married at First Sight season but Nine has filmed two MAFS specials with former cast for Sunday January 31 and February 7.
Seven is expected to screen Holey Moley against the AO while 10 is tipped for The Amazing Race Australia -both produced by Eureka Australia.
In addition to changes to the AO, Nine has also lost another “Summer of Tennis” event, the Adelaide International.
10 has now confirmed The Amazing Race Australia will premiere on Monday, 1 February.
That’s a week before the start of official ratings and likely hints at I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here wrapping on Sunday January 31 (to be confirmed).
It could also be pitted against Seven’s Holey Moley -both are produced by Eureka.
The Amazing Race Australia travels around much of Australia due to travel restrictions and is again hosted by Beau Ryan.
Channel 10 have confirmed The Amazing Race Australia will return to screens on February 1, TV Blackbox reported on Wednesday.
The highly anticipated fifth season of the reality game show, which completed filming in November, will see the contestants race around Australia after the Covid pandemic prevented international travel.
Fourteen couples will travel across the country in pursuit of adventure and $250,000 in prize money.
Host Beau Ryan also shared a promo poster for the show on his Instagram.
Wearing an Akubra hat while posing with some of the players, he joked in the caption: 'Daddy’s Home'.
Confirmation of the premiere air date suggests that the finale of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! will take place on January 31.
With I'm A Celebrity currently doing well in the ratings, the positive numbers could have a flow on effect on The Amazing Race, when it premieres.
It will also give The Amazing Race the opportunity to grow and strengthen their audience, before it goes head-to-head with Channel Nine's coverage of the Australian Open on February 8.
Last month, Channel 10 aired its first teaser of the show, revealing some of the country's rugged terrain, ocean vistas and stunning rainforests the contestants will travel to.
In the clip, a contestant says: 'What I'm looking forward to most is that the whole world is within Australia… so many hidden treasures and we haven't explored it yet!'
Some of the challenges include the participants hanging off a structure as they attempt to throw balls at each other.
They will also compete on motorbikes on a dirt course.
Channel Ten revealed they had changed the show's format to domestic travel back in March last year.
THE 10 NETWORK HAS RELEASED A NEW PROMO LOCKING IN A MONDAY, FEBRUARY 1 PREMIERE DATE FOR SEASON TWO OF THE AMAZING RACE AUSTRALIA.
The confirmation of the Amazing Race launch date now makes its highly likely the finale for I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here will occur on Sunday Jan 31.
It also means The Amazing Race will have one week to build its audience before it has to compete against live Australian Open coverage on Nine which is now scheduled to commence on Monday Febuary 8.
Seven is yet to confirm a launch date for its big prime time hope Holey Moley, but marketing materials issued to advertisers from the networks sales division late last year indicated a Monday Feb 1 launch was being considered.
Insiders within Seven have previously suggested to TV Blackbox the network was reluctant to air Holey Moley directly against the tennis, with programmers eager to ensure the costly production has the maximum chance to succeed.

No names?
Beau Ryan has revealed that there have been times he's been genuinely scared for his life while hosting The Amazing Race.
The former NRL star, 35, told The Daily Telegraph on Saturday that he and the show's production staff 'tested a lot of the challenges' before contestants did them.
Before he took the plunge - Beau made farewell videos for his wife and children, just in case something went wrong, especially on challenges involving heights.
'We had a social phone we used to record stuff to put out on TenPlay and social media before we do some of the challenges.
'And I always did a farewell piece to camera for my wife and kids, like if something did happen to me and I didn't survive the abseil or the cliff dive,' he said.
He added: 'But I was doing these challenges every second day so there were about 50 farewell videos all up. Lucky for me I didn't have to use them.'
Beau shares his daughter Remi, 8, and son Jess, 3, with wife of nine years, Kara, 34.
Earlier this month, it was revealed that Beau was forced to quarantine for two weeks before filming the show last year.
The official Instagram account for the series shared a video of the star admitting that isolation was 'hard'.
In the clip, Beau lies shirtless on a hotel bed as he discusses the challenges of isolation.
'I'm gonna be straight up: quarantine's pretty hard. Isolation, quarantine, whatever you want to call it, being stuck in a room for two weeks by yourself, most people lose the plot... I don't,' he said.
The new season of The Amazing Race is set to premiere on Channel 10 on February 1.
Honestly, Beau is doing such a poor job promoting show in these interviews. He seems so bitter like he did not have fun at all during filming and just did this all because of money.
