We start with Jon doing the Edge walk on top of Canada's tallest building the CN Tower in Toronto.
The Amazing Race Canada is back home to race around the country. Teams are using TTC (streetcars, subway) to get to the start line.
Now team intros.

Now at at the start line. Welcome to Toronto, Season 7 of TARCAN. Adventure will change your lives. Now Jon introduces Jet/Dave as the 10th team.
J/D its humbling to be Canada's choice.
Jon now lists the prizes: 250k, trip around the world, two Chevrolet cars.
And we're of!!
Clue: Make your way to: Extreme Reach Recording Studios. $900 for this leg of the race wow!! two express passes.

D/I arrive first.
Clue: RB: Who can hear the Lion roar. Record voice for the Lion King video voiceover for trailer. :groan:
Irina, Jet doing the rb. Firs two there.
Aisha, is doing it. She is an actor. She attempts it first. She fails.
Jet now attempting it. He fails.
Sean is doing the rb for S/G
Anthony for J/A
Sam and Lauren, Thinesh doing it.
Irina attempts now on her first try. She gets it!!
Clue: Make your way to the Ontario Food Terminal, search through 8 sections and find two sections of postcard which will reveal next location: Kamloops BC!

We are back.
Jet on his second attempt. He gets it! They are in second.
Aisha on 7th attempt and she gets it too.
D/I have arrived at the Food.
So has J/D and N/A now.
All other teams ate the recording attempt. Thinesh failed on his fifth attempt.

A/T and S/S are in last at the recording.
J/D found the first half of the post card. D/I were the first too
J/D find the second half.
Teams must make their way to Kamloops, they must sign up for one of two flights, and collect Cliff snacks for the rest of the leg.
N/A find the clue too they are in third.

Thinesh gets it on the 8th attempt at the clue.
Sam on his 13th attempt.
He gets it!! all teams done the recording task.
L/J on first flight. and so are T/A

The maps they show are using the Expedia plane :groan: So much sponsor placement.
Once the teams touchdown, take a silverado.
RB: Who likes mind games.
In this rb the previous member who didn't do it must zipline over Ajax Mine and release a ball into a floating target. Once they have hit the target they will get their next clue.
Nicki/Aisha also there.
D/I arrive in third.
There is a huge amount of wind which will make this challenge a total crapshoot.
Dave gets it on his first attempt!
Irina: Eat your face to Jet :funny: She is going to be the star of this season.
Clue: Make your way to Circle Creek ranch.
Trish and Amy are lost.

Trish/Amy still struggling to navigate.
Second flight arrives.
Dave on his third attempt. He gets it!
D/I arrive at the ranch. Route marker: Search 30 cows, for their next destination on the ear. Its written in small print so they need to get close enough.
Nicki on her second attempt, she misses it.
S/S arrive along with A/T and G/S
Lauren on her 2nd attempt. She gets it!
Dave of D/I gets the clue. Make your way to Kamloops Bike Ranch, the first pitstop of this leg of the race!
Gilles doing the rb.
Sarah on her first attempt, and she gets it!! They are in fourth.
J/D are at Circle Creek.

They have won a trip for two to Cape town South Africa, and two express passes! One must be used. The other must be given away by leg 3 to another team.

Kamloops's scenery is quite beautiful and the tasks were original and interesting!

Wow, Dave & Irina are exactly what I predicted - one episode in and we got a few instances of trash-talking other teams :D
We have a villain team more villainous than the norm for Canada.

I'm shook. Loved every team but I'm kinda not sad to see Jet and Dave go. So happy Moms and Grandfather/Grandson are still in it. :luvya: :hfive:

I’m wondering how far Jet & Dave actually got before they realized they took a wrong turn. Merritt is about 85km south of Kamloops.

I only watched the very beginning and end of the episode because I still refused to believe they went to Kamloops of all places, but I recognized the place where they stopped to get corrected. It was the rest stop in Merritt where my family and I would stop all of the time when driving to Vancouver. I can't believe they were able to get all of the way to freakin' Merritt before realizing they need to pull over.
Just knowing we have a TAR franchise where Kamloops and Revelstoke justify two separate episodes is super baffling to me. It even made our local news when a team pulled over in Armstrong to ask for directions at a Tim Horton's.
Still funny they have yet to make it to my town since now they have been to EIGHT different towns within a five hour drive away from me.

Dave & Irina were really getting to my nerves. Good racers, but they got my bad side quickly.
Enjoyed the other teams in different degrees.
Jet & Dave wasting their second chance. Wasn't rooting for them during the Canada vote phase, so not particularly sad that they are gone. But what a freaking wasted opportunity.

I’ll have to watch that again. It didn’t look like the rest stop south of Merritt, which they’ve shut down a while ago. Could be wrong though.

Ok premiere. Felt intense and packed.

So we lucked out with TAR 31 ending a week before TARC 7. Between Art & JJ and now Jet & Dave, how did we get two shocking returnee first boots in the same year? (Last year TARC also had a photo finish race to the first mat like TAR 30. How do we keep getting these similarities?) This was actually a pretty fun leg. While the tasks weren't all great, the teams seem like a fun batch, and there was a surprising amount of navigation drama. While TARC has more self-navigation, navigational problems aren't a frequent occurrence on this series, and yet so many teams had troubles in Kamloops even with navigating a bike path with a potential repeat of Misa & Maiya. Obviously, the biggest mishap was with Jet & Dave, and it is crazy to hear that they went 80 kilometers out of the way. Even in just one episode, they were still an entertaining team, and it's a shame that we won't see more of them. Side note, curious as to why they brought back the give an Express Pass twist when that hasn't been done in years.

Lion King: Find it somewhat hilarious that they started the season with a product placement task. At the same time, it was surprisingly good considering the extremely critical judging on timing.
Postcard: It was a needle in a haystack task that wasn't really needed.
Mine: Pretty fun task that fulfills the adrenaline task requirement that this show likes for the premiere.
Cows: Tasks with unruly animals tend to be fun, but only a couple of teams had that problem.

From the shadows at the pit stop, it was clear that Jet and Dave arrived much later than the other teams. I can't understand how you could drive 50+ km without getting good directions when you have no idea where the ranch was. When they showed maps on the counter at the one place they did stop for directions, I knew they were done. Well, that and remembering the spoilers for this first episode. :funny:

It was quite easy. Once you head south out of Kamloops there is nothing, or should I say NOTHING, until you get to Merritt. Even with that said, the highway is actually outside the city, and there is nothing on the highway. Did I mention there is absolutely NOTHING on that highway 5?
Poor Jet & Dave getting eliminated by bad directions :'(

I'm enjoying the self-navigation, otherwise the best part was the camera hogging team (that somehow got voted back in) getting eliminated early. Teams that try to funny somehow aren't. The extended film advertisement was a bit embarrassing.
