Aaron and Deb, a wacky mother/son duo, work together as funeral directors at their family run funeral home. Through their work they want to prove that death isn’t as scary as people may think. They feel that their careers have set them up to succeed in THE AMAZING RACE CANADA – great under pressure and quick on their feet, in their line
of work they often help people who are in shock. They are also very strong physically as carrying caskets is a regular part of the job. Despite the intensity of their day-to-day work, they prefer to focus on the positive impact they can have on people during very difficult times.
Aaron is full of heart and charm, and is always willing to help someone out – a trait his mom feels can come with a bit of a downside. While Deb is full of charisma and fully embraces who she is, Aaron feels she needs to believe in herself more. Plus, she has a bit of a temper that could potentially set them back.
In their jobs as funeral directors, Aaron and Deb often face the unknown and feel that aspect of their jobs has trained them to be ready for anything – including THE AMAZING RACE CANADA.

Among them are Deb and Aaron Baker, a mother and son team from the B.C. border town of Grand Forks. The two funeral directors refer to each other as "last responders." They should be easy to spot during the competition: both plan to wear their dark blue funeral attire throughout the entire race.
"Yes, we are running in our suits," says Deb, 54, who insists she has a fun job. "People come in grieving and for some reason I get them laughing."
Deb is the second oldest contestant this summer, as teams get younger and stronger.

Their bio alone is entertaining, they literally put the fun in funeral directors, literally. I imagined a team racing in 'odd' outfits and now they're a reality.

It'd be awesome if they go far, but sadly the team with a "quirk" is historically always one of the first to go (Dave & Cherie, Anita & Arthur, etc) :(

DEBORAH & AARON BAKER
Mom and son, they call themselves “The Teal Deal” (you’ll get it when you see their suits) and refer to their occupation as “Last responders.” If you live in Grand Forks, B.C. and you’re looking for more sombre funeral home directors, best look elsewhere. They’re the only game in town. “People have a stigma about funeral directors. They don’t expect us to be as fun and energetic and bubbly as we can be,” says Deborah. “I think the only reason we got on the show was because of our suits,” adds 30-year-old Aaron, who’s dressed up since childhood. “But we’ve got energy and determination on our side.”

An Amazing 'undertaking'
What do funeral directors do to relax? Go on the Amazing Race Canada, of course.
Deb and Aaron Baker are a mother and son from Grand Forks. They are also funeral directors at the Grand Forks Funeral Home. And, they like to have fun.
"We are both pretty crazy," said Deb Baker.
That came across in their pre-show video where, dressed in suits, Deb proclaimed their desire to 'bury' the competition.
The new season of the popular summer reality show begins tonight. All 10 teams competing are in Toronto for the premiere of the new season.
Castanet reached out to Deb in Toronto.
"It was a wonderful experience, especially doing it with my son," she said, mindful of not letting anything out of the bag. "It was a little bit different than what I expected."
Despite their line of work, Deb said they were prepared to do whatever it took in the competition.
"We said if we had to shave our heads in a challenge, we'd shave our heads. If we had to jump from an airplane, we'd jump from an airplane. We were ready to do whatever we needed to."
But, she added, it's so much different doing the show than it is watching it.
"Aaron and I would watch the show and say, you'd be good at that, or I could do that. But, you don't know what it's like until you experience it, when there are cameras in your face."
To find out just how well they did, you'll have to watch.
