Yessssssss! TAR Asia 5 is one of my favorite seasons of all time, DEFINITELY EXCITED FOR THIS! :bunny
-
WHOOHOOO!!!
(Note to self: Watch this season!)
-
Great to hear (and I should really catch up with TARA5, because I ended up dropping off after not being able to find the episodes).
-
Yay! TARA and TARCh are probably the best TARs in the world today :conf:
-
Disagree strongly on TARCh, but that's for another thread.
-
i feel tara6 no more Indonesia take over race

In a profile of activeTV and TAR executive producer Michael McKay, it reveals that activeTV's rights to The Amazing Race format ended last year. That explains why AXN produced TARA5 with Profiles TV instead and maybe why it took so long for TARA to come back to air.
In 2006, activeTV Asia was established in Singapore off the back of the company’s first production of The Amazing Race Asia for AXN.
The company is now headquartered in Singapore with a strong production base in Manila, as well as the foundation business in Melbourne.
McKay says, “When we first came into Singapore in 2006 no one had really done reality TV so we quickly trained up a lot of people and a great many have progressed in the industry today because of that training.
“We did the same thing up in Manila. We also take on interns, we try to train and develop people and if I was proudest of anything it would be that.”
He added that despite having such a big show as The Amazing Race Asia on its books, in Singapore the company still had to prove itself.
“That took a while, but, here we are 11 years later and I think people understand our commitment,” he says, “In that time we’ve produced lots of varying content across different genres, languages and platforms.”
The Amazing Race series has been the company’s springboard to success, but last year activeTV’s partnership with the format owners finished, which meant giving up the franchise.
“I spent a large portion of my life working on the Race. I started with season 2 of the American version and I really do love the format, always will,” McKay says. “But it enabled us to regain full ownership of the Asian business and focus on our own formats and development. It was time to move on.”

I wouldn't be surprised if that *also* contributed to a) the abbreviated route and season and b) the lack of any tasks copied from other editions.
-
For the abbreviated route and season, most likely it's the budget and probably AXN just proceeding cautiously in bringing back a show after 6 years.
But the absence of activeTV ABSOLUTELY is a reason there was a lack of recycled tasks. lol
Hopefully the success of TARA5 will open up the route and maybe add a Leg or 2 for season 6.
-
lol we should start a petition for 12 legs for tar asia 6
-
I hope season with more than one vietnamese teams, introduced Express Pass(es) and Face-Off task
-
Does anyone know if TARA6 will actually air in 2017 since filming had already begun this time last year?
-
Considering how TARA is now produced by Sony, and they are currently producing Asia's Got Talent as well, I wouldn't be surprised if they alternated production schedules. I would honestly say expect TARA6 next year.
-
Yeah, they haven't even announced auditions yet. They'll probably have Asia's Got Talent in the odd number years and TARA in the even number years.

Not to mention that they are currently casting AGT for an October premiere. The timing is similar.

My guess it will assume for a 2018 broadcast.

I wanted TARA this year. :(. Oh well, at least we are getting another season!!!
-
TAR Asia 5 wins Best General Entertainment Program in the Asian Television Awards :conf: That bodes well for another season.
Rona posted this to Instagram.

Allan Wu posted on his Facebook page that TARA6 will be back next year after sweeping all of its categories at the Asian Television Awards! :hoot:
-
Great news! We did hear about it getting renewed, but this just confirms that the reason for the delay was AXN alternating it with Asia's Got Talent :conf:
Can't wait for 6!
-
Some interesting news. AXN has begun auditions for Asia's Got Talent. So either no TARA this year or they'll do both AGT and TARA, but that seems unlikely.
-
YAY :hearts: TAR asia 6 hope they go to middle east! and i'll try to catch them since i live in hong kong :hearts: and would travel to japan or south korea
-
No TAR Asia again this year? :(
Season 5 was great (expect for the 5 Indonesia legs), so why haven't they put Season 6 in production yet?
It also rated highly, didn't it?

Yeah, TARA5 was very successful. Great ratings and they definitely saved a lot of money with the Indonesia sponsorship. But Asia's Got Talent has also been huge for AXN and maybe at a lower cost than TARA.
These days, it's all about the money. How low can you keep the budget and how much you can maximize the profits. AGT might be more attractive right now, at least.
-
Or the producer might face a problem with contestants' visa issue, Some Asian passport have very high index score, while some other ones have very low.
TAR Asia 6 should cast team from East Asia as well as team from Brunei
-
No more news on TAR Asia 6?
TAR Asia 5 was a REALLY good season!
I don't want this show to die again! :( :'(

There are no news for TAR Asia as of now. AXN has no word that it may be returning in the prerequisite future.
-
Definitely nothing this year since AXN went with another season of Asia's Got Talent.
But yes, another major, huge sponsor like Wonderful Indonesia would definitely help. They'll definitely look for one though. TARA5 had great viewership across Asia like AGT. It's just AGT is less expensive to produce.
