And we are on the air!

Previously on TAR, 9 teams raced from Cartagena to Geneva.
Love was in the air
At the Detoue, team needed accuracy - or a steady hand
Teams partnered up at a United Natioms Roadblock, leaving Jessica in the cold.
Taking a train to Chamonix, everybody raced for first place.
Brodie & Kurt came in first while Britt & Jessica came in last.

8 team's remain, who'll be eliminated next?

Teams partnered up at a United Nations Roadblock, leaving Jessica in the cold!

Racing to Chamonix, eight teams competed to win the leg.

Brodie & Kurt won, while Brittany & Jessica fell short.

Eight teams remain... who will be eliminated next?

We start in Chamonix, France!

All teams are shown getting winter gear and depart the Pit Start.

Teams must find cars and travel somewhere, I didn't catch it lol.

Brodie & Kurt arrive at the clue and get a Route Info.

Route Info: Les Grands Montet Summit.

This is the highest mountain in Europe, teams must now make the way up and get their clue precariously perched on the top of the mountain!

Brodie & Kurt/Tyler & Korey are on the first gondola. Burnie & Ashley and Dana & Matt on the next one.

DETOUR:
In Dynamite, team's must deliver explosives and lunch to trained mountaineering professionals. After a loud explosion to rid excess snow from the mountainside, they will rceive their next clue. In Campsite, team's must pitch a camping tent and setting as per the example to receive their next clue.

Detour: Dynamite or Campsite

Dynamite: Deliver explosives and lunch to hard-working professionals on avalanche control to get your next clue!

Campsite: Pitch a tent to get your next clue.

Both teams choose Dynamite.

Dana & Matt and Burnie & Ashley arrive and begin moving across the mountain.

Ashley drops the clue down the mountain! :o

Dana & Matt get their clue they choose Dynamite.

Burnie & Ashley are told to get the clue again. No penalty. They choose Campsite.

Dana has a panic attack.

Brodie & Kurt drop their dynamite and get their next clue in first.

Dana & Matt start moving on Dynamite. Dana's panicking.

Zach is on the way to get his clue. They choose Dynamite in 5th. Scott gets the clue. Scott & Blair choose Dynamite as well.

Sheri & Cole finally decide to do dynamite.

Tyler & Korey arrive and Korey chooses to do it.

Almost everyone passed Burnie & Ashley. :( I'd consider the detour equal in a way that it's safer but slower or faster but dangerous. Too bad Burnie & Ashley's risk didn't pay off. :(

I like the detour and roadblock for being extreme! :colors The other detour was fine, with a different kind of balance.

The leg became linear with the cable car rides. I understand it's for safety reasons, so they can't do anything about it. :(

Somewhat linear, but I like this leg thanks to the scenery.  :colors I'll consider this leg as the weakest in terms of tasks though. The suspense made up some points, but not enough to beat my ratings on the previous episodes. I'd give this a B on the TAR Report Card.

Sheri was amazing this episode and the best part of the episode. What an inspiration <3

I also still rly like Scott & Blair even though they were quiet, but they delivered in whatever screentime they had lol <3

Erin & Joslyn :torche They were so much fun early on then they fizzled out these past two legs, I was really hoping for an NEL :( On the bright side, that makes them third on teams eliminated by Blair :lol: (Darius & Cameron via keeping quiet at the RB, Brittany & Jessica by hiding on the train, and now by confusing Erin & Joslyn at the Detour). Production seems to like them so I'm hoping they'll be back! (which is more than what I can say for most of the teams this season).

Dana & Matt are UTRN alright. Zach & Rachel are nice but so MOR.

Burnie & Ashley are so boring.

Brodie & Kurt are back to yelling which sucks, but I like them a little? They can have the Leo & Jamal factor of an obnoxiously loud team but still be alright.

Tyler & Korey just sucks. They're not fun and they're not entertaining. Ugh.

It is because of March Madness being on friday nights. A similar occurance happened in season 26 around this same time.

Another horrible Leg like last week. Only thing that made this episode better was the snow and the pretty mountains.  Otherwise, just awful. Almost as awful as that "Top 25 Most Favorite Teams That I Looked Up on Wikipedia" List.

By far the worst Leg this Season.  I'd almost go as far as say it's as bad as some of the Legs from The Season That Shant be Named.  :groan:

It was soooo linear, and only for Burnie & Ashley choosing the harder Detour, which was incredibly unbalanced may I add, and Erin & Ashley falling at the RB, this Leg would've been the most linear Leg I can ever recall seeing.
And what the hell was that Dynamite Detour.  :gaah:  (:;)  None of the tasks this Leg required ANY great skill at all.  :lala

They even missed an opportunity by not including any self driving, even if it was just from the Detour to the RB.  :groan:

I wanted this to be a NEL, and felt it almost should've been.  Hoping for one next Leg now.

Overall, a pretty crappy Leg.  On a Positive note though, the scenery was amazing, but even that can't sway my view here.  :(

Awesome views and landscapes but worst leg of this season. No chance for the back of the pack to catch up the first teams!  :gaah:

I'm starting to be annoyed by Tyler's laugh. I mean, he's a good guy, but no need to laught for everything you see or do...
Oh, and Zach & Rachel were completely invisible this leg. :/

Why that huge break? Oh my god, so bad CBS.  :groan:

I think this was an awesome leg. We had amazing scenery, very very difficult physical challenges (any of you ever ice/snow climb at altitude? Just getting up and back must have been soooo difficult!), human interest with people overcoming fears, incredibly interesting run for the paraglide start, awesome paraglide views, AND a three way FEMALE race for the end!!

Yes the leg was too linear. Yes the edits could have shown a bit more placements etc But you know what? The casual viewer doesn't see that. They see an amazing location, interesting tasks, and good human interest. Who didn't tear up when Sheri said "I did it?? I DID it??" 
My guess is this will be an Emmy Nom.

The Paccard statue pitstop was a different statue than the Balmant/Saussure statue we saw in the previews (and you probably noticed that the greeter was dressed in a Balmant costume; Balmant is presumably a favorite son). I have a mixed opinion about this leg :gnome

It was definitely the most beautiful one yet and it felt A LOT different from the regular TAR legs, so that made me really interested. I was overwhelmed with the beauty of French mountains and found myself wanting to go there, so I think that's a huge positive. The ending had some suspense, too.

However, as people here have already mentioned, the leg was EXTREMELY linear... :tantrum I hated that. Everything could have been made SO SO MUCH BETTER had the teams been required to self-drive a couple of times. Why did the producers not take this opportunity? :groan: I also found Brodie really annoying this leg, around as much as he was in the premiere, and that really decreased my enjoyment.

Is it just me (because strangely no one else has mentioned this yet), or did the first couple of minutes feel very cringeworthy, especially the editing at the hotel? It just felt cheesy like ANTM. :lol: Also reminded me of the awkward scene in the last episode when they were staying in Geneva and the first ~10 minutes of the episode didn't feel like a race at all.

FINALLY, CAN PHIL STOP DOING THOSE CHEESY LIVE COMMENTARIES FFS :wall:

The driving that was done this leg showed a good bit of snow and ice. I don't think production wants to risk hired cars on drivers who perhaps have never driven on snow/ice.

I don't remember seeing the starting line times at the beginning of episode 5, but at the end of episode 4, weren't all teams except the eliminated team on the mat at the same time? So people should have left the pit stop fairly close to each other. I went to Mt Blanc about 25 years ago- trams were about 15 minutes apart at that time so that produced the spacing of the racers we saw.
Agree with Peach this should be Emmy submission. A bit of drama, emotions and spectacular scenery!

Just like last season's Tiffany & Krista on Leg 5, Scott & Blair got lucky this leg.
1.) Erin & Joslyn arrived later than them on the clue after the pit start, moving Scott & Blair up by one place
2.) Sheri & Cole weren't prepared upon reaching the cable car, thus having Scott & Blair enter the cable car in 6th, on the 3rd batch.
3.) Burnie & Ashley took the longer detour, so Scott & Blair passed them too.
4.) Blair beat Rachel at the roadblock because the latter had at least 1 failed attempt there.
In the end, Scott & Blair checked in at 4th. What luck!

For what it's worth: I need a mute button for Tyler and his laugh. He annoys me the most, followed by Brodie and Blair. My favorites are Zach and Rachel because they are low-key and I love Zach's magic vines. Perhaps because all of the contestants are social media stars, I'm hearing more about how the editing manipulates the viewers. These linear legs are disappointing -- unless you want the guys in the lead to keep winning. Nevertheless, I always love the different scenery and customs.

Did anybody else notice that this episode was extremely weather dependent?

I wonder if production had space in the schedule to wait one extra day here if the weather had been bad on the 23rd when this was shot?

In any case I am convinced they had alternate tasks which were not as weather-dependedent planned.

give credit where credit is due. scott and blair ran the leg perfectly given the fact that it was so linear. dont say it was all luck bc as kurt said (i think) "the winner of this race will be the team that makes the least mistakes.".

Finally watched the episode and wanna ask a simple question and not sure if it has been raised yet since I've got no time to read the threads (sorry!):

Why did Kurt and Brodie have to let Tyler and Korey go first after they failed to take off first? The last three teams were able to take off TOGETHER simultaneously? ???

The last 3 teams took off one after the other?

There was even a gap between Ashley and Sheri landing.

It was all based on the wind.  I think the uphill people may have had better wind?

No actually, the last three teams could take off ANY time depending on their instructor!

No actually, the last three teams could take off ANY time depending on their instructor!

I believe it was after you were unsuccessful that you had to let the teams behind you go first. So when all three are lined up to go at the same time, no one had gone yet, so anyone could go. After Ashley's unsuccessful attempt, she had to wait until Sheri and Erin had tried once before she could go again.

^ Yeah, that's what I meant. If you fail to take off, you have to let someone else try before you do so again.
