The Detour was the best though! Sleeping Sheeps or Watermelon Slide must be used on other TARs whenever they go to Sydney lol

*****Summary of EP1, TAR China S2*****
Spot
Starting line: Sydney, Australia
Detour: Centennial Park, Sydney
Roadblock: Farm cove, Sydney
Route Info: North Square of the Sydney Opera House
Pitstop: Hyde Park, Sydney
Mission
Starting line: Teams head to the sailing boats to search for the clue.
Detour: Slippery or soft
Slippery: One team member wears the helmet, the slipping suit and the watermelon track shoes. The other team member collaborates with a coach to lug the rope. Once the trio successfully "surf" 40 meters, the team would be given the next clue.
Soft: Team members have to catch 3 sheep and cover their eyes with cowboy hats. Once three sheep stay calm for 3 seconds, the team will be given the next clue.
Roadblock: One team member wears the professional suit and dives into the cage in the sea. He has to unravel five ropes in the cage to let the key drop to the bottom of the cage. Then he can use the key to unlock the door to escape from the cage. Once he succeeds, the team will be given the next clue. (I feel that this challenge may be seen in Survivor tho'.)
Route Info: Team members have to find 7 tourists to perform a square dance. Once the coach is satisfied, the team will get the next clue.

The Starting Line task was great. Pulling the rafts to shore was good, but I loved that each team had to do something different to get the clue on the ship. It could be as easy as just picking it up or as hard has needing to climb up to get it.
The Road Block was good too.
I see on the wiki something about an Intruders twist. Is that why there are only 6 teams as new teams will join mid-Race?

Yes. An intruder team joins mid-race. The team can only survive in the race by being the first or the second arriving at the pitstop.

I disagree. I do not like this twist at all. TAR China needs to stop bringing in teams/bringing back teams. It's not fair. Twists in a race are fine, but just stick with the standard 11 teams 8 eliminations format because it works just fine.

I think the detour is blind
One of the teams mentioned that "there are no words for their reference" when deciding which side of the detour they are going to do
You can also see that there are detour clues hung up on the spear side of the detour

I thought the "!" things popping up on screen were penalties for teams picking a Detour without getting the clue first, haha. Now I see what happened.
So I was right about the spear task. I just thought it was really weird that the second one was worth five points when they need to get six :/

It looked like they changed their minds even after revealing the clue which should be a violation of the rules but their quitting negates it anyway.
That's a scenario that's never happened on an Amazing Race before, so not even sure what kind of penalty it would carry.

TAR China S2 Leg 3
Note : All teams start the leg with no money
They can only gain money during the detour of this leg
A 15-min penality will be issued to team for each time they get money from others outside of the detour
Active route marker 1 :
Scrub each other with the soap until the soap was worn away to reveal a picture, which is teams' next destination (same location & task as TAR 21 Leg 6 detour & TAR Aus 2 Leg 6)
Note : teams are only allowed to scrub the skin of each other, otherwise they must redo the task again
Detour :
Perform on street or Shop Shine
Teams can choose either way to gain 40 Turkish lir
Once they get more than 40 lir, they can get their next clue
Note 1 : Teams are allowed to gain more than 40 lir during the detour, they can keep the excess money they gain for this leg of the race
Note 2 : Once teams get their next clue, they are not allowed to gain any more money
Note 3 : For the teams choosing performing on street, the money they receive can only be coins but not banknote
Roadblock :
One team member must ascend an castle in 5 minutes
Otherwise, their teammate will be dropped into muddy water
Active Route Marker 2:
Banlance simit bagels on team members' heads and deliver the bagels to 3 different locations (same task as TAR 21 Leg 6 Detour)

Is this a double-length leg or a No-rest Pit Stop with two legs? (Though there technically is a rest). Do the girls get a Speed Bump?
To me, it looks like a No-Rest Leg, like TAR18 and on. Double-length legs have generally been retired.

Plus it appears they stayed in people's homes for the night, a la Airbnb? Interesting!
I still think TAR China is the most visually appealing current TAR. They have some amazing cinematography and the quality is very film like, just like TARAu was.

Yeah, just like China Rush before it, hitchhiking is legal in this season as long as another mode of transportation isn't specified. (GOTTA DRIVE THOSE INFINITIS!!!)
TAR China is probably so visually appealing because they don't cut out the production crews. Since they don't have to throw away like 30% of shots just because there's a crewmember or a cameraman in view means that they have a lot more amazing visuals to work with. TAR US needs to adopt this.

A pretty good Leg. I like the modified bubble bull task from TAR24. The soccer was more interesting than TAR Canada's Road Block lol And the tomatoes were great.
But the REAL bull side of the Detour! WOW! That was insane! You'll never see that on TARUS, that's for sure lol
Was the starting task officially a Double Battle/Versus?

The bull task was copied and slightly modified from HaMerotz LaMillion 3. In both cases, they used an adolescent bull. However, in this version the bull also had its horns cut down to stubs so they couldn't do damage, while I don't think this was done in the Israel race.
I like how in the blind soccer task, they actually forbid them to do "The Hop", as invented by Nick & Matt.
The girls had to flip the same hourglass that the chopstick bros. had to flip, so I would definitely say it was a Face Off.

Can someone do me a favour and go back to check episode 2? I really can't believe that the rules of this race would allow Xiao Yang to do ALL FIVE of the Roadblocks so far. Can someone make sure that he actually elected to do the one in Cairns?
ALSO, if anyone feels like a geography challenge, try to find the lilac field? I saw where their little Google Earth map went, but I think the editor made a mistake. The little icon flies over to Cabrières-d'Avignon, but when it zooms in it seems to be in a completely different place because I can't find that specific area anywhere around Cabrières-d'Avignon.
Does anyone know the Roadblock prompt? I don't think any of the teams read it.

Hi, I'll be late in watching this episode and updating the wiki because I will be out of town for the weekend.

That was terrible. I hated everything about that.
This season was going so well, but this is just awful. These intruder teams are completely ridiculous. The Yuans can win the race now and get the same grand prize, and they would only have to run half of the race. HOW is that fair in any way? I absolutely cannot stand it when shows do this. What makes them so goddamn special to get this kind of treatment?
And on top of that, the leg was lacking both a Detour and Roadblock, meaning that there was almost no CHOICES to be made. TAR is all about making choices, but teams didn't choose the Detour, they didn't choose the Roadblock performer, and they didn't even have to choose which way to go; the whole leg was within a small nature reserve.
AND to top it all off, we have the greatest race sin of all time. NO LUCK TASKS RIGHT BEFORE THE PIT STOP. How difficult is it to grasp that? I am absolutely not impressed by this.

I think 16 seasons of BBUK have made me not care about intruders winning, and I mean they ain't winning now so. I frankly have more of an issue with the tasks in the last two legs than the leg structure itself (<3 ostrich racing <3 aside).

Well, it's over. Yay? Great visuals, mostly great tasks, STUPID design... Would this not have been like five times better if Team Orange and Team Running Man had started from leg 1 like everyone else?

So, I'm rewatching this one now. I still never figured out why team father/daughter decided to give up on the bed and breakfast task of all things... Nevermind the physically and mentally challenging tasks of the leg, they got eliminated because they didn't want to sleep in a friendly neighbour's house...?
Does anyone know the reason? Any Chinese speakers want to listen to the end of episode 3/start of episode 4 to see?

I finally finished watching TAR China 2.
Cast-wise: I like that they got some A and B List celebrities. I don't much attention to the Chinese entertainment industry but I definitely recognized quite a number of celebs.
I love Miriam and Real. Which is weird because I have never watched any of her movies nor listened to her songs. But I love the dynamics of the two of them.
My fave scene was the part in Turkey where they had to perform and beg for money. Real, being less famous than his wife, was not recognized by the Chinese tourists in Istanbul. He then asked the tourists to watch his wife, Miriam Yeung, perform on the streets. Now, of course, none of the tourists would actually believe that A List celeb Miriam Yeung would be on the streets begging for money. And a few moments, to their great surprise, she was right in front of them. :funny:
I am slightly bummed by the silly Intruder twist, but I suppose the celebs were not able to commit all 10 legs, so they came up with this silly format.
