Brooke & Robbie finally find a taxi. Kym & Alli see a sign for tickets to blue grotto. They find necklaces. There are 3 7:30s and 3 7:45s. Tim & TeJay wanted their speedbump to be there. :lol:

Group 1 gets the roadblock clue. Teams will have to rappel 20 stories down a cliff into the blue grotto where they'll meet their partner. They'll search the cave for their next clue. Teams are getting on boats to the cliff.
Group 2 gets the RB clue. Weird out of order placements here. :lol: Teams boating to the cliff too.
Tim, Alli and Misti are doing the RB. All the other team members in boats watching. Misti is quickest at the start. I can sense the competition between dentists and cyclists. Jim and Kym keep updating their partners about where the other one is. Tim is slowest lol.
Misti first in water I think. Alli right behind. Alli jumps into the water. Misti jumps in, followed by Tim. They're searching for the clue. Alli saw a blue light at a boat and she just followed it. She got to the clue first. Tim: "I have too much clothes on me." :lol: Misti and Tim got the clue and are swimming back.
Brooke says that as always, cyclists get the clue first... Brooke says she hopes their plan to U-Turn them works.
Proceed to Church of St. Scholastica and search for the next clue. Cyclists first, dentists second, T&T third.

Alli got a yellow flag on her first try! She went super slowly, but she made it. Kym falls. Kym: "I hate you for getting the yellow one." :lol: Kym went on her 3rd attempt.
Omg. Tim & Te Jay didn't even find the detour decision point but they're putting on equipment for flag... They decide to look for the detour clue and they find the speedbump. Paint the Maltese cross on a shield. When a knight approves it, they can continue racing. Misti & Jim doing flag as well... BUT THEY DIDN'T GET THE DETOUR CLUE EITHER? :groan:

Kym's upset that Alli got the yellow flag because she's the one afraid of heights. They're switching. Alli apologizes.

Brooke: So sick of being in last. They're doing shine.
Shine requires teams to polish each other off. When the knight feels like they're knights in shining armour, they can get their next clue. All 4 teams at shine.

I really liked this leg! I thought the blind Detour was an interesting twist and I would like to see it more often! I'm fine with Tim & Te Jay leaving, because I like most of the cast besides the Dentists.

A deceptive tough active route marker task at night, the first "blind detour," a tough roadblock (unless you're Bethany) and I think Adam and Bethany smartly played the Express Pass, seeing how all of the other teams ended up struggling with both sides of the Detour.
A tough leg for all the teams, but someone had to go home. Tim and TeJay played well -- 8 legs is no small achievement.

LEG 8 (Sicily, Italy --> Malta) EPISODE ANALYSIS
BETTER TITLE QUOTE: "Where Do They Come Up With These Sports?" - Brooke
Dreams actually do come true: an official new country being visited! :hoot: Right off the bat, the teams had to carry a heavy burden, a set of wine coups and a bottle of rum, to a medieval table filled with knights. Sweetening the deal, teams got to experience the hard-hitting truth of the race instead of fragile checklist activities. In the end, I found the episode very intriguing from the beginning to the credits.
ROADBLOCK: (Who's feeling craggy?)
Team members had to rappel down the jagged Malta coast into Blue Grotto where they had to search for their next clue. The ultra-blue waters of the grotto are brighter than the Floridian side of the Gulf of Mexico. The aquamarine hue made me fall in love with the Roadblock immediately despite the generic great heights task.
ROADBLOCK SCORE: 8.9/10
SPEED BUMP: (Tim & Te Jay: Paint Maltese Cross)
Tim & Te Jay had to paint a Maltese cross on a shield. Nothing too boring or non-befitting, but the extra task could have at least been a bit more entertaining than watching a team paint a symbol.
SPEED BUMP SCORE: 8/10
DETOUR: (Flag or Shine)
First thing I have to address, I LOVE the new "Blind Detour" twist of having no descriptions presented in the clue! Very refreshing, and much more difficult for teams to decide whether to do the former or the latter, and should they switch option if their initial Detour choice clears the fog and finds the task too tricky to finish. In Flag, teams had to sprint up a slanted pole to grab a yellow flag and a further red flag. This task was INSANE, and I believe this has been the most challenging task any HD season (not only season 25) has aired thus far! Excellent work, route creators. You guys nailed it with this one! Much love! Not only did the task seem simple, it became very daunting that Adam & Bethany had to use their Express Pass (kind of), forced Kym & Alli to switch Detours, sent Brooke & Robbie fluctuating, overwhelmed Amy about her injured foot, and made Tim & Te Jay flamboyantly upset about wasting their time on this very task. Well played! ;) As for the Shine option, I didn't really enjoy the task because I couldn't actually tell who was ahead and who wasn't. Completion was all based on the judges' perception. What made up and did more for the armor task is the amount of vacillation with this Leg's Detour choices. Again, I highly praise the Flag Detour. :snics:
DETOUR SCORE: 10/10
OTHER SCORES:
TEAM DEVELOPMENT: 10/10 (Teams beginning to find Kym & Alli isolated from everyone else was not fonding, but interesting; Brooke & Robbie's taxi fiasco happens again twice; the Detour )
TEAM DRAMA: 8.5/10 (Can't stand the anti-antisocial team squad, but savored every bit of the drama that happened dealing with the Detour.)
EDITING: 8/10 (Pretty decent although it felt rushed at some parts of the episode)
SOUNDTRACK: 8.8/10 (Felt like the good ol' pre-HD editing of TAR with a TAR Asia infusion.)
PIT STOP CONFIGURATION: 5/10 (Even with SIX teams, the editors still can't seem to fit in Phil saying the 2nd and 3rd team placements. Seriously?!)
TIM & TE JAY's DETOUR NEGATIVITY: 8/10 (Although annoying, I believe they were given the star scenes of this Leg next to Brooke & Robbie with their slowly aggravated attitudes.)
BETHANY BEATING EVERYONE ON THE RAPPEL: 10/10 (That was simply awesome! :wohoo:)
OVERALL SCORE: 9.2/10 :hearts:

I usually put a personal spin on Roadblock quotes and Detour wordplay in episode analyses. :lol: I didn't feel like twisting the Detour choice title tonight. Thought the blind Detour was enough twist for one night.

I kind of like the new twist; it's like a RB where they have to select which team member does it with only a small bit of information. I'd like to see this 2-3 times per season. Played at the right time, this could make a lot of drama.

I don't think it's simply because the Cyclists won 2 legs. I think the Cyclists had also tended to separate themselves from the other teams. That would probably be annoying.

Thoroughly enjoyed this Leg, and there were some great tasks, but a couple of things really bugged me.
Firstly, after such a great ARI Task, why would producers just plant an equaliser. I'm sure there would've been loads of interesting tasks teams could've done at night.
Also, WHY do Kym & Alli constantly switch Detours? They were more than capable of completing that Flag Detour, and they could've got 1st. The same thing happened on Leg 6 with the Butter and Tent Detour. Their biggest detriment is themselves. :'(
Finally, I don't understand why, when a team is in last or close too last, and know they're at the back, do they just stand and look about. Key example - Tim & Te Jay at the Flag Detour, when they see Brooke & Robbie going back to Shine. They should have just got on with it and kept trying, but Tim was just standing about complaining. Chances are they would've finished before the wrestlers finished shining the armour.
Apart from that I've nothing but positive's for this Leg. Great locations, great tasks, and I love most the teams remaining. The only exception being Jim. I just hope it doesn't get nasty between Kym & Alli, and any of the other teams, because I don't want to start disliking anyone for potentially U-Turning them. :groan:

IDK why I'm thinking on this thing :crazy: but I feel Kym & Alli in this leg are getting the edit that somewhat similar to BQ in Season 10 where almost all the remaining team are start to against them and want Kym & Alli to be eliminated because Kym & Alli start to separate themselves from the other teams and run the race on their own.

If she is smart, she should U-turn the dentists because they are stronger than the cyclist

Totally agree. The "Accidental Alliance" on last season totally awful, even somewhat more awful than the Six Pack Alliance back in Season 10.

Maybe the plan is to U-Turn the dentists and have them U-Turn the cyclists. It would be a smart move -- assuming that any team can beat the dentists to the U-Turn, that is.

Great ARI task! Just WHY would they put an equalizer after that? :'( Though, I think if they did not, the Food Scientists miiiiight have been eliminated.
The Roadblock was okay. The scene/set of it looked too much like Leg 1, where they had to jump off that rock. I liked that they had to swim inside to get their clue.
Blind Detour was an random/interesting twist. Imagine if they did that in every leg and caused teams to waste time by going to a choice that ended up not being worth their time. But to be honest, seeing teams constantly switching Detours kinda got annoying.
Onto the teams...
1. Adam & Bethany - Can't believe Bethany dropped the glasses at the very end of the task! They're just so positive all the time. Love 'em.
2. Misti & Jim - Just glad they weren't number 1 :lol: I'm also happy to see that they weren't the ones who drove all/most of the teams against Kym & Alli.
3. Kym & Alli - They really do remind me of TAR 10 Dustin & Kandice. The strong F/F team that made it this far and somehow is disliked by most of the other teams. But tbh, after seeing this and TAR 24, if I were on the race, I'd probably NOT isolate myself from the rest of the teams... seeing that it will only gain you enemies. :res: I HATE that they give up so easily! I think if Kym just stopped for a few and then continued trying, she could have gotten the red flag & they could have been number 1 or number 2.
4. Amy & Maya - To me, it looks like Amy really brings this team down. From her weird running (as pointed out by Brooke :lol: ) to dropping all those glasses to not being able to do the Flags Detour because of her leg injury... Loved seeing Maya run around the Pit Stop :lol: That's true dedication to the Race!
5. Brooke & Robbie - Like someone else pointed out earlier, I liked them a lot in the previous legs, but I wasn't really a fan of them this leg... Brooke's complaining is getting really old... and this time, she's not only complaining about her abilities, she's also complaining about other teams, aka Kym & Alli.
6. Tim & Te Jay - Sucks to see them go. Had Tim gotten the red flag, they could have been 2nd or 3rd or anything other than last!
It'll be painful to see Amy & Maya, who are such a positive team, be in pain next week.

Am I the only one who has issue with an impossible side of a Detour? That task was potentially worthy of being a really memorable TAR challenge, but I think the red flags were almost impossible to retrieve (even the guys demonstrating by the side just fell straight into the sea).

And one thing. I hope that they could switch position. Like Te Jay got Yellow Flag so Tim had to get the red flag, but after some failing, they could switch, Tim went to get another yellow flag now and Te Jay could try to get the red flag. They have 2 flags each colours on the pole so why not?

Each of them only had to grab one of the flags, one yellow and one red. So actually, you're making it more difficult???

Gasps. Just one? Then I apologize. This Detour is fair then. They should have strategised to get the person who's better at the task to go further. Or if the task needs to be improved, make the 2 flags to be at the same distance in between the red and yellow flags' actual location.
