Post by: claude_24hrs on August 06, 2014, 04:19:14 AM
Episode 1 got 588,000 viewers in Australia and it is not good on the millionth mark unlike the previous seasons with poor viewing.

Nine News was the top viewer for the day.

Usually for shows after 9 you should look at the 7 day time-shift.

Well to be honest, what were they expecting with an episode that started at 9pm and ran to 11pm. If it's meant to be a family show, half of the audience that they are going after would be in bed halfway through if not earlier...

And then they decide to put random shows like Highway Patrol/RBT/Border Security whatever those joke shows are on in the glorious Wednesday and Thursday 7:30 and 8 timeslots... like does anyone literally watch shows like that intentionally... ??? And top that off, there really isn't any major competition in those timeslots on other channels at the moment, so if it was on at say Wednesday at 7:30, the ratings might be double if not triple what we got...

Anyway, it's nothing new, really. Anything ever worth watching on Seven never starts before 8:30 - all I basically watch off it are Revenge and Criminal Minds and both get 8:30 or 9 starts - so I don't know what they're playing at, but they're killing their own show. :(

It should be on Monday 7:30, with their stupid singing show on Tuesdays and whatever's on Tuesdays (I think it is that Bringing Sexy Back) on Wednesday.

If there is a bright side it is that the show on TV2 drew 260,620 views on it's first airing while on the channel TV2+1 (It's the same channel delayed an hour) the show drew 25,410 viewers. So overall I reckon the viewership is decent over here considering we have a much smaller population than Aus but it could also help that it was only 8:45pm till 10:30pm and not a 2 hour premiere like in Aus.

So basically 1 in every 15 people in NZ watched it while 1 in every 40 people in Aus watched it.

But in Australia ratings are only counted from the big 5 cities. So assume 13 million  for the big 5 and  you get a ratio of 1 in every 22 people.

Ah I was not sure how it worked over in Aussie :P

We have Time shift for ep1 (Australia airing)

The show was the 2nd highest time shifted program of the night and added 146,000 to the figure to give us an 734,000. Given the late start and 11 finish this is ok but we are hoping for higher for the Cambodia episode.

Episode 3 ratings went down to 616,000 viewers and it is outside of top 20 for the first time. Though the viewers are much good for Aussies.

Also, the timeshift for the second episode was added to 109,000 viewers, that makes a total of 763,000, it is the highest advantage of weekly timeshift viewers.

Episode 3 in NZ did the season's highest so far with 267,890 viewers  :hearts: Please let these ratings show TVNZ that there is a market for an Amazing Race: New Zealand!

Well there might be a TAR New Zealand, but I think TARAus is gonna die.

But let them know that they killed it with their timeslots, not the show itself.

A "family show" doesn't run until 10:30 or 11...

Great news, the combined episode 4 and 5 have higher ratings with a total of 663,000 viewers. And at least it is back at top 20.

Time shift for ep 3 is in and I think we did pretty well.

We went up 150,000 to 754,000 which lands us at 12 for the night (up from out of top 20)

I think these ratings could go either way in terms of if we get a renewal. Lets hope that we crack 800,000 for the upcoming episodes (which is very much possible especially since time-slot competitor House-Husbands wraps it up for the season)

Episode 6 went down to 635,000 viewers in Australia than last week's combined episode which got boosted ratings. That is excepted a good season of The Amazing Race Australia.

God damn it 7. You may of killed my hopes for a TAR:NZ by having too many double episodes. The ratings over here (as expected) have gone down from 235,000 to 183,000. My mate said he watched them online because he couldn't be bothered waiting two weeks when it was already out.

The finale ratings went down to 416,000 viewers, that is the new lowest viewership in the franchise compared to last season's finale of 976,000 viewers.

That means is the lowest rated episode of The Amazing Race Australia for the first time since its airing back three years ago.

No promotion from 7. Not surprised. But I think it was 1st/2nd in the timeslot (there was split programming in on 9 with different shows on for AFL state then non AFL States), so I think it was technically both 1st & 2nd

Episode 8 got 191,930 viewers while episode 9 got 226,860 viewers. The finale airs tomorrow night but I'm not expecting overly huge ratings since there are no kiwi teams in it xD
