Caroline/Jen > Mona/Beth > Anthony/Bates > Max/Katie
-
So Excited guys, and sad!!! Hope Max & Katie or Derby mom's win!!!
:conf:
Those are my two guesses for who will win as well!

Previously on The Amazing Race...
11 teams got some game changing news: EP + a second EP to give to another team.
Teams had adrenaline rushes, faced their greatest fears, and dealt with a heartbreaking injury... There were alliances (John & Jessica, Joey & Meghan and Mona & Beth). Two EPs led to success with Dave & Connor and failure with John & Jessica. 7 teams were eliminated.
Country singers Caroline & Jennifer started the race off with a penalty... They've had luck and a flirtatious friendship... They fought through the tears and they found a way to make the final 4.
Roller derby moms Mona & Beth raced hard and strong. They were forced to beat Joey & Meghan, overcoming a speedbump and U-Turn to reach the final 4.
Hockey brothers Bates & Anthony had lots of highs and lows. They maintained their positive attitude, and got some help from friends (Caroline & Jennifer).
Newlyweds Max & Katie raced two races... Bora Bora and Botswana were their lows... But then they found their groove in Europe and upped their game. They won back to back legs on their way to the final 4.
One of these teams will win the $1 million... and The Amazing Race.
-
Max & Katie won the last leg of the race and will depart 1st at 4:07 PM. Travel to Belfast, Northern Ireland by train and ferry. Pick up a Ford Fiesta and proceed to Peatlands Park.
Bates & Anthony depart at 4:15 PM. They don't want Mona & Beth in the final 3.
Max & Katie and Bates & Anthony boarded their train.
Caroline & Jennifer depart at 5:27 PM. They think they've made it to the final 4 with their positive energy.
Mona & Beth depart at 7:27 PM. They expected to be U-Turned.
Bates & Anthony and Max & Katie arrive at the ferry station, but the first ferry leaves at 7:30 AM. All the other teams will arrive as well.
Max asks Mona & Beth: "What did you think when you saw 2 cars in the parking lot?" Wow. :stare Max laughs and apologies, but it wasn't really an apology.
All teams are searching up information on Belfast. Bates: "This is the calm before the storm."
All teams have arrived in Belfast by ferry...
-
Polaroid will save me today cause i have no links :lol3:
-
All teams are madly running to the warehouse to pick up their cars lol.
Mona & Beth are the first to depart, followed by Max & Katie. Max & Katie pass Mona & Beth... Mona & Beth got stuck behind the wrong lane and then all the teams passed them.
Bates & Anthony are going to stick with Max & Katie... Max & Katie turn around and then Bates & Anthony turn around too. Mona & Beth don't think that the other teams are going the right way, but they continue... Caroline & Jennifer follow derby. Bates & Anthony and Max & Katie went to the other way and Caroline & Jennifer and Mona & Beth went a different way.
Bates & Anthony and Max & Katie arrive at the park. Mona & Beth were wrong.
Participate in a bogs snorkelling competition. Teams will have to ride a train. Then, teams have to get into gear, cannonball into a bog and then get under 4 minutes for the track. First 2 teams get on the train.
Mona & Beth and Caroline & Jennifer arrive at the roadblock.
Bates said the hardest part for Anthony was "squeezing his junk" into the suit. LOL. :lol3: Anthony starts the roadblock. He said the hardest part was breathing.
Katie: "This was not part of the honeymoon trip."
Anthony got 2:18. Hockey's out of the roadblock. Find the "Thing with a ring".
Mona & Beth and Caroline & Jennifer are on the train. Mona hates cold and dirty water... Well this is the perfect roadblock for her LOL.
-
Someone's having a panic attack... :(
-
Katie couldn't see where she was going... She made it in 3:10 and now they're out of the roadblock in 2nd.
Mona felt scared... She sounds like she's freaking out... Mona sounded like she was crying and screaming. Beth didn't think that she could do it... lol she got 2:53. Mona: "Seriously... I don't think I've ever been that... crazy." She's still hysterical after getting her wetsuit off.
Jennifer is doing the roadblock. Caroline wishes she could do this roadblock because Jennifer hates swimming. Jennifer ends up jumping on the wrong side of the path and she's struggling... She doesn't make it.
Max & Katie get directions from someone as Mona & Beth come to their car. Mona & Beth decide to follow Max & Katie. He hates being followed.
Jennifer doesn't want to go back into the bog.
-
Caroline is encouraging Jennifer... Jennifer says she can't breathe. She gets out of the bog...
And commercial.
-
Who came up with this sport anyway?
-
And we're back with Caroline telling Jennifer to keep going. Jennifer says she can't breathe... I guess they're doing it again.
Bates & Anthony are stuck in traffic. Max & Katie see the thing. Mona & Beth see it too. And the cluebox. Detour: Tray it or Spray it.
Tray It: Using a menu and seating chart, teams have to serve 5 courses of actual dishes served on the Titanic. 1 team member will prepare the dishes and 1 team member will serve the dishes. Teams will have to make sure that the dishes are served properly.
Spray It: Visit an urban sports and arts center and finish 1 side of wall using graffiti.
Max & Katie pick Tray. Mona & Beth pick Tray. Bates & Anthony arrive at the cluebox and they pick Tray.
Caroline tells Jennifer that she won't let her quit. Caroline doesn't want Jennifer to quit.
-
Max & Katie: Smart.
-
Max & Katie make it at the dock where the Titanic was built... It was pretty much a giant hole in the ground. Max & Katie can't find the first course because the seating chart doesn't tell them... Katie realizes that there's a giant menu in the front! Nice catch Katie. Katie decides to deliver the dishes while Max gets the meal ready.
Katie delivers the first course properly. Everyone got oysters.
Caroline does a little prayer for Jennifer. She goes for her 3rd attempt. Caroline walks beside her encouraging her all the way. :hrt: And Jennifer finishes! They're finally out of the roadblock. Caroline is so sweet.
Bates & Anthony arrive at the detour.
Max & Katie start with their second course. None of the dishes are listed. Katie decides to get Max to serve because he's faster. Katie goes back to the kitchen. Their 2nd course is completed.
Bates & Anthony are confused... But then Anthony realizes the large menu is there. Bates is rejected with his meal.
Mona & Beth arrives. They don't realize that there's the large menu so they start going off their seating chart.
Caroline & Jennifer get help from a nice older gentleman. Caroline tells him that they can't be together.
-
Max & Katie: Smart.
It helps that they seem like the kind of people who grew up in a world where they'd learn the names of this food.
-
Caroline and Jen are lost :( They're having such a bad leg. I'm loving the Detour!
-
Bates & Anthony complete their first course. Max & Katie complete their third course. Max & Katie are doing really well.
Beth delivers the 1st course but it's incorrect.
Max & Katie complete their 4th course.
Anthony gives Bates the 2nd course... It's a really long way back and forth for the server. Their 2nd course is completed.
Mona still doesn't realize that there's a giant menu to go off of. Beth delivers Mona another set of dishes, but it's still incorrect.
Katie delivers Max the last course... Anthony trips on tracks and all the dishes breaks. He goes back to get the dishes.
Uhm, Caroline & Jennifer are really lost. They're in a huge field... They get directions to the right thing with the ring lol.
Mona & Beth are still clueless. Max & Katie's last course is rejected. Bates & Anthony complete their 3rd course. Mona & Beth still don't get their 1st course... She tries to rearrange the different dishes...
Katie tries switching the dishes for Max... Bates & Anthony finish their 4th course.
Caroline & Jennifer finally arrive at the ring and they're going to do spray.
Mona still doesn't realize that there's a GIANT MENU. :groan: Bates delivers the last course but it's wrong. Bates is pretty pissed.
Katie gives Max the last course. Bates spins his plate pretty skillfully. He's pretty upset with Anthony.
Max & Katie finish the detour! Bates' 5th course is incorrect. He really hates Anthony right now. They have the red jelly instead of a green jelly. And now Bates is angrily running back to Anthony...
Commercial.
-
The tray detour seems like a nightmare... I would hate doing it, lol. And that run must be brutal.
-
Caroline and Jen are lost :( They're having such a bad leg. I'm loving the Detour!
Ugh, I know. :( I was really hoping they'd do well. I'm excited to see the other side of the Detour! So far the serving challenge is great.
-
The tray detour seems like a nightmare... I would hate doing it, lol. And that run must be brutal.
It probably gets better once you know what the hell you're doing.
-
Titanic is now one of my memorable tasks, I'm enjoying it as much as the Russian time zones!
-
It's likely going to take a small miracle for Caroline and Jennifer to survive this leg.
-
It's likely going to take a small miracle for Caroline and Jennifer to survive this leg.
It might be in the form of a confused Mona & Beth, lol.
-
The tray detour seems like a nightmare... I would hate doing it, lol. And that run must be brutal.
It's a really hard physical and mental task. It's like the ultimate TAR task, I would have a lot of trouble knowing what those foods are for one thing.
-
The brothers are talking to either Mona or Beth...have they realized that there are five courses yet?
-
Caroline and Jen are lost :( They're having such a bad leg. I'm loving the Detour!
Ugh, I know. :( I was really hoping they'd do well. I'm excited to see the other side of the Detour! So far the serving challenge is great.
Me too! :( I know right? One of my favorite tasks this season.
-
It's likely going to take a small miracle for Caroline and Jennifer to survive this leg.
It might be in the form of a confused Mona & Beth, lol.
I thought Mona & Beth were confirmed for final three? Could be in the form of a confused Bates & Anthony.
-
Worry for Mona and Beth :(
-
And we're back with Bates screaming IT'S WRONG. Bates is really mad at Anthony, lol.
Max says it's going to take everyone a lot of time... because they're brilliant, LOL. Pit stop: Ulster Hall. The first 3 teams to arrive will race for the million... and the last team will be eliminated.
Mona still doesn't realize what's wrong...
Max & Katie get directions to Ulster Hall. Caroline & Jennifer are going to the street park.
Anthony realizes that the jelly is green... Bates is really angry at Anthony... Beth asks Anthony about the courses... Anthony says that there's a large menu. Beth asks Mona if she is looking at the right thing... Mona says she is, and sends Beth to do another delivery...
Bates & Anthony finish the detour. Bates is still pretty pissed, grabbing the clue out of Anthony's hands.
Bates & Anthony see Max & Katie on the street... Max & Katie don't really know where they're going but they're running... It's a race to the pit stop... AND MAX & KATIE ARRIVE FIRST. They're greeted by a bunch of dancers!
Bates & Anthony arrive shortly after. Max & Katie are team #1. Bates & Anthony are team #2. Max & Katie won a trip to the Dominican Republic.
Pit stop:
1st - Max & Katie
2nd - Bates & Anthony
-
Max has had a reoccuring dream that he turns a corner and approaches the finish line. Bates says he's had the same dream, running past Max. :lol3: :lol3: :lol3:
Caroline & Jennifer are lost...
Beth gets rejected once again. She tries rearranging the order, but it's wrong. And wrong again. Beth hopes it's not their destiny to go down like the Titanic...
Commercial.
-
Lol "it is not our destiny to go down like the Titanic!"
-
It's likely going to take a small miracle for Caroline and Jennifer to survive this leg.
It might be in the form of a confused Mona & Beth, lol.
I thought Mona & Beth were confirmed for final three? Could be in the form of a confused Bates & Anthony.
Mona&Beth were seen in the preview doing the 'secret agent' task
-
ok.
-
Hope miracle come for Mona and Beth
-
Lightbulb moment.
-
And we're back. Beth tells Mona it's all wrong. Beth tells Mona about a list that Anthony told her about. Mona tells Beth she figured it out. She's finally realized her mistake. Mona screams for Beth to come back up.
Caroline & Jennifer arrive at the skate park place. They begin spray painting.
Beth thinks that this has cost them the race... Beth has gone up the stairs 10 times... "SHE DIDN'T READ THE MENU." Beth has finally finished the first course, and the people applaud her. Mona has no clue where the blondes are.
Beth is finished the 2nd course. More applause for her.
Caroline & Jennifer continue spray painting...
Mona & Beth are done the 3rd course...
Caroline & Jennifer are almost done their graffiti...
Beth wants to win The Amazing Race for her family... She doesn't want to make it this far and not make it into the final 3...
Caroline & Jennifer just need to sharpen up the edges to get the clue...
Beth: "My kids are getting mac & cheese for the rest of their life." They're finally done the detour!
Caroline & Jennifer are done the detour! Hug for the clue-giver. They're off to the pit stop.
-
Mona & Beth get directions... Jennifer finds Ulster Hall on the map...
Mona & Beth see it... Caroline & Jennifer see it...
And..........
Mona & Beth are the first to run in! They're team #3 and they're racing to the finish line. Mona and Beth are both crying. :hrt: They can't believe it.
Caroline & Jennifer run in. They're the last team to arrive and they've been eliminated from the race. They've enjoyed everything. Flashback to some of their moments. :hrt: Jennifer says they're going to go home and write a lot of songs.
Pit stop:
1st - Max & Katie
2nd - Bates & Anthony
3rd - Mona & Beth
4th - Caroline & Jennifer
Max & Katie think they're going to win the race after winning the last 3 legs... Bates doesn't want to lose the Stanley Cup again... Mona & Beth are strong women and they think that they can win...
Commercial.
-
It's going to be a great competition between Maxie and the brothers for the win
-
The battle of the FF Team and Mona and Beth Survives!! :conf: :conf: :hrt: :hrt:
-
Omh I'm totally getting that Samsung S4 :lol3:
-
Mona & Beth are shocked to make it to the finale!
Caroline & Jen :'( They got a montage! I actually can't believe they could make it this far! I thought they were over Leg 1.
-
I get tired just from watching, so hats off to Polaroid! Superb as always!
I feel for Mona & Beth but my brain is with Max & Katie!
-
Caroline and Jennifer :hrt: Hope they return in the next all-stars.
-
Chateu gets his London
-
And it's the start of the last leg!
Max & Katie depart 1st at 5:04 AM. Make your way to the final destination. To find out what it is, take a ferry across the Irish sea to Liverpool... Then proceed to London, England. Then make it to a bar and order a tap to get their next clue. Weird. Max & Katie say their honeymoon has been stressful, but if they can complete The Amazing Race, marriage will be easy.
Bates & Anthony depart at 5:05 AM. Bates lost the Stanley Cup but he doesn't want to lose the race. Bates says that they're good at finding bars, lol.
Mona & Beth depart at 5:47 AM. They say they're representing a lot of people.
Bates & Anthony wanted country singers in the F3, but they think it's roller derby. Nobody really seems pleased with roller derby being in the F3.
All teams get on the same ferry. It's an 8-hour ferry ride. All the teams have a little fun.
And now teams are running to the bar. Mona & Beth cheers Max & Katie. Fly to Washington, D.C.! Once there, they will figure out that their next clue is on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. Max to Katie: "Do you want to finish our beer?" Katie: "No." Both teams are off to the airport.
Bates & Anthony get their clue. One of them has lived in DC for a bit.
Hours of operation at the airport: 5:15 AM. Bates & Anthony join the other two teams at the airport.
-
Omh I'm totally getting that Samsung S4 :lol3:
I like that there's finally legitimate competition for the iPhone. :hearts:
Edit: Oh, dear, Obama.
-
All teams are on the same flight from London to Washington, DC.
All teams start running out and searching for taxis. Everyone is proceeding to the place where MLK Jr. delivered his I Have A Dream speech, Lincoln Memorial.
Max & Katie have to run to the steps because the taxis can't get in. Bates & Anthony start running to the steps. Mona & Beth shortly arrive.
Katie sees the steps. Some guy tells her that it's where MLK Jr. gave his speech. The guy gives Max & Katie their clue. Now Mona & Beth arrive on the steps.
Route info: Proceed to 1100 Pennsylvania Avenue. Then teams will get their picture taken with the president.
Max & Katie are out of there. Mona & Beth are out of there as Bates & Anthony get their clue.
-
Caroline and Jennifer :hrt: Hope they return in the next all-stars.
They make it far partially thanks to Bates and Anthony.. I doubt if they in next all stars, they can make it that far..
-
Haha, I really wanted to see Max's reaction to meeting the President. Mona and Beth are going to be so disappointed. :lol3:
-
Max & Katie are pretty excited. Max is a pretty big Republican, but he respects that Obama was voted in. Mona & Beth are freaking out excited.
Max & Katie arrive first. A bunch of secret agents greet them... Mona & Beth get taken to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, but they have to walk to 1100. 1600 is the closest they can get.
Bates & Anthony arrive at 1100.
Max & Katie walk with their agent... It's not real. It's a cardboard cut-out. Max is actually kind of glad because he's unapologetically Republican, lol. They get their next clue. Proceed to the the marked car at the Tidal Basin. Knock 3 times on the right side passenger window to get their next clue.
Mona & Beth ended up going the wrong way... They get directions to 1100 Pennsylvania Avenue...
Commercial.
-
Were Mona and Beth just going to go knock on the White House doors?
-
Were Mona and Beth just going to go knock on the White House doors?
Maybe they wanted to actually meet the President!
-
Were Mona and Beth just going to go knock on the White House doors?
Reason for visiting the White House: "We have to meet the President! Phil said so!"
-
And we're back. Mona & Beth went to the wrong place. They're going to take a taxi to take them to the right place.
Bates & Anthony find out that the President isn't actually there. They're both really unimpressed LOL. They're off to the Tidal Basin.
Mona & Beth finally arrive at 1100.
Max & Katie arrive at the parking lot of the Tidal Basin. They knock on the window... and they get a briefcase. It's a clue. Roadblock. Switchback! Teams will have to figure out which one of the 50 agents is carrying their next clue by using a secret password. They have to get the right response. They will switch their briefcase and then they have to get a password to open the briefcase to get the next clue.
Max thought that this was a memory challenge, but then he thought not... he's doing the roadblock. Bates does the roadblock.
Max: "Where can I get a good half smoke with chilli."
Bates: "I did not dress warm enough in this weather."
They both sound ridiculous saying this to these agents. LOL.
Mona & Beth assumed that Obama cleared his schedule to take a picture with them. :lol3: They're proceeding to the Tidal Basin.
-
Bates gets the right response first. "Perhaps you'd like to borrow my gloves." They switch briefcases. The briefcase will unlock in the team's finishing order in Indonesia, New Zealand and Vietnam.
Max is still going around trying to find the right response. Bates can't open up his briefcase. He realizes it was wrong and it unlocks. Proceed to National Stadium. This must be frustrating for Max & Katie.
Mona & Beth arrive at Tidal Basin. Bates & Anthony are leaving. Beth chooses to do the roadblock.
Beth: "The cherry blossoms are beautiful here in April." She looks like a crazy maniac, lol.
Katie says if Max doesn't have it by now, he doesn't know what he's doing. Poor Max.
Commercial.
-
I hope the winner isn't determined by this randomness :P
-
I hope the winner isn't determined by this randomness :P
Agreed! I'm waiting for an epic memory challenge...
-
I hope the winner isn't determined by this randomness :P
Agreed! I'm waiting for an epic memory challenge...
Obvs the briefcase challenge was the memory challenge for this season loooooool
On a side note - THEY WENT TO LIVERPOOL AS IF :'(
-
this is just unfair.....
they try really hard to make Bates and Anthony the winner
-
this is just unfair.....
they try really hard to make Bates and Anthony the winner
How...
-
This baseball thing looks like a fun task! On the other hand...they need a better final challenge.
-
And we're back. Max and Beth are still asking around... Max has to go back because he doesn't see any more people.
Bates & Anthony get their clue... One team member will be suspended high above the stadium. The other will be dressed as a giant baseball. The ziplining team member will drop a ball that the other will have to catch. Anthony is going up while Bates is dressing up. Anthony tosses the ball but Bates misses.
Max and Beth still can't find the right guy... Beth finds the guy! "I'll have to bring my mother next spring." Beth: "I could kiss you on the lips right now."
Max finds the guy! "I've heard there's a great place on U Street."
Both Beth and Max rush back to their partners. They both get it unlocked. Beth finishes before Max. They're both trying to get a taxi. Max & Katie get a taxi before Mona & Beth.
-
Mona & Beth get a taxi shortly after.
Bates catches the ball. They're off to Hains Point, which is written on the baseball.
Max & Katie arrive at the stadium.
Mona & Beth don't know where to go.
Katie decides to lob it so Max has more time to catch it. Max misses it. He falls the second time, lol. He misses the 3rd time.
Mona & Beth realize they ran past the clue.
Bates & Anthony figure that there's a mental challenge... AND THERE IS. THERE'S A HUGE GLOBE WITH A BUNCH OF LITTLE ONES. omgomgomg.
One team member will have to search through a giant box with globes with one country highlighted. One team member will have to toss the globes to their partner. Teams will have to place the globes in the right order to get their clue.
Bates & Anthony make some ball jokes, lol.
Max still can't catch LOL. Once he realizes that Mona & Beth have arrived, he catches it.
-
Anthony can't find anything in the ginormous box of globes that he's in...
Commercial.
-
Woah this is a creative task!
Memory tasks :hearts:
-
The searching for globes is really hard. How do you do that systematically?
-
Dunno how I feel about this final task. On one hand, the ball pit is pretty clever and makes it hard to find the countries. On the other hand, it's another "trace where you've been" task (Like Season 19) and those are fairly boring.
-
I think this memory challenge is more luck than... memory. I wish they would come up with one like TAR12 again. :(
-
I didn't get it. Do all balls have a different country? Or is there just one ball for each country visited with many unmarked balls?
-
I think this memory challenge is more luck than... memory. I wish they would come up with someone like TAR12 again. :(
I was just telling the person I'm watching this with that same thing! I like more logic based things. This one's easy to figure out.
-
Am I the only one who's loving the memory task? :hearts:
-
Anthony finds Tahiti first. And then he finds Vietnam. Max & Katie proceed to Hains Point. Beth misses the first ball.
Anthony & Bates continue.
Mona & Beth go through over 10 attempts. Mona tells Beth to focus LOL. Beth makes some witty remarks back. Beth is so funny. :lol3:
Bates is looking for Indonesia.
On the 17th attempt, Beth finally gets it!
Max & Katie are still making their way to the globes...
Bates & Anthony are still looking for Indonesia... Bates doesn't think that Anthony gave him Indonesia... but it's right. Now they're off to the pit stop. George Washingon's Mount Vernon.
WOW ARE YOU SERIOUS? IS THAT ALL TO THE MEMORY CHALLENGE? YUCK.
-
They got a montage! I actually can't believe they could make it this far! I thought they were over Leg 1
Those two babes have more brains and heart than the 2 roller derby hags. I thought they would win it all. Too bad.
-
Bates & Anthony leave before Max & Katie even get there...
This really isn't a race anymore, lol.
Bates & Anthony are nervous about not going to the right place.
Mona & Beth arrive at the globes.
Max and Mona are in the tank.
Anthony is already reflecting about the race...
-
Bates & Anthony are on the way to the finish line currently in first place! :hoot:
-
The task is really hard but there is an element of randomness and the order was greatly determined by the silly suitcase thing. The final was generally mediocre in design.
-
lol very unpredictable winners!!
-
Go Bates and Anthony!!! My favorite team left!!!
-
Max and Katie switch because Max doesn't really know what he's doing LOL.
Max & Katie finish the task and now they're off. Mona & Beth decide to switch again. Mona's back in the tank.
And Bates & Anthony arrive at Mount Vernon.
Bates & Anthony are the official winners of The Amazing Race 22!
-
CONGRATULATIONS BATES AND ANTHONY, THE OFFICIAL WINNER OF THE AMAZING RACE 22!
-
:hearts: :hearts: :hearts: YAY BATES AND ANTHONY!!!
-
The task is really hard but there is an element of randomness and the order was greatly determined by the silly suitcase thing. The final was generally mediocre in design.
Yep, it was entirely who got to the final task first. I'm a bit disappointed. :( I am happy Anthony and Bates won though!
-
Shocking! (Not) lol
-
Of course, a boring team won this season. :res:
I still would like Mona & Beth to be the winners.
-
:hearts: :hearts: :hearts: YAY BATES AND ANTHONY!!!
Agreed!!!!!!
-
Max and Katie lost because of randomness!!!!!
-
Of course, a boring team won this season. :res:
I still would like Mona & Beth to be the winners.
Boring? These guys were hilarious!
-
Bates and AnthonY!!!
OMG. WE CAN SEE MAX & KATIE IN NEXT ALLSTARS FOR THEIR OWNAGE <333
-
Anthony says he can buy some new fake teeth with the money, lol. Bates & Anthony are glad that they got to do the race together.
Max & Katie arrive on the mat in 2nd. Max looks a bit upset. Katie says that they've made it through the worst. Max says that they're a solid powercouple. He says that he thinks they'll do some pretty incredible things together in life. Aw.
Mona & Beth arrive in 3rd. Beth says that she hopes her kids think that they're bad-asses. Beth is glad that they've had this time for adventure.
Dave & Connor get speaking time. Dave had surgery on his achilles tendon. Caroline & Jennifer are happy that hockey players won.
THERE ARE FIREWORKS. WOW. Not a traditional mat stand end. Bates & Anthony are out in front and the other teams are in the back. Weird.
-
Bates & Anthony won by a landslide.. At least, Maxie didn't win.
-
Whos David G Gibbs?
-
Bates & Anthony won by a landslide.. At least, Maxie didn't win.
yeah, that's a relief!!
-
And the finish:
1st - Bates & Anthony
2nd - Max & Katie
3rd - Mona & Beth
-
That was so cool!!!
-
Whos David G Gibbs?
Helicopter aerial view pilot for TAR and movies.
-
Thanks everyone for another great season!
-
Max & Katie will win the next All Stars season :)
Thank you so much for updating, Polaroid!
Can't wait for next season!
-
So much for an "unpredictable" finish
Awww.. out of the Final 3 Bates & Anthony were my least favorites.
I really wish the competition was tighter, especially at the "Go Global!" challenge :'(
I always thought that Mona & Beth were gonna win because of their dull edit (like Nat & Kat and Kisha & Jen)... Now that they got 3rd, I don't understand why they got such a poor edit? Were they that bad? lol
I liked the fireworks touch at the end!
-
Bates and Anthony win the amazing race and a good season.
-
BATES AND ANTHONY :hearts: I'm so happy for them! :hrt:
An alpha male team win finally - the last one was Tyler & James from Season 10!
Anyone else noticed John and Jessica was absent at the finish line? (Which is great because I don't like them, lol.)
I love Caroline & Jen's interview at the end of the finish line.
-
I already posted it but it deserves to be here again: Hats off to Polaroid!!!
-
According to IMDb, David Gene Gibbs was a helicopter pilot on 17 episodes of TAR between 2007 and 2010, who died in February of this year.

John & Jessica were there!

I liked the theme of the leg, but I thought that the challenges were lacking. The mental challenge was underwhelming. There wasn't really an opportunity to make up time after the roadblock.
PS, thanks guys.

Probably lost their passport in Indonesia. :lol3:

Would like to see Pam & Winnie, Joey & Meghan and Max & Katie (Yeah. I said it.) for the next All-Stars. :hoot:
-
David and Connor still getting more airtime than the winners after they found out they won <3
-
SO happy Bates & Anthony won!!! My faves from the beginning!
-
John & Jessica were there!
.
I saw his creepy eyes there.
-
And now that we have been shown clips from Family Edition, it has been confirmed that it's in the canon continuity of the show and we can no longer pretend like it never happened.
And now that I think about it, the winner was indeed unpredictable because the two main tasks were pretty random-based.
-
There's been a pattern in most seasons where the team that finished first in the next to last leg, is second in the final leg, and obversely, the team that finished second in the next to last leg won the final leg.
Given that Max and Katie won the three legs prior to the final leg, it's fair for CBS and Phil to call the winner "surprising"; however, Bates and Anthony had the best average placement of any of the teams in season 22 (2.4166) and would have no matter how they finished the final two legs aired tonight. (Max-Katie's average was 4.2500, and Mona-Beth was 4.3333.)
And I believe this is the first time two teams of athletes finished in the final three (Don't forget that Mona-Beth are professional roller derby players.)
-

Well, Kisha & Jen were college basketball players and they faced the Globetrotters in the finale of UB
-
Yep. That's the first 2 professional athletes final.
-
David and Connor still getting more airtime than the winners after they found out they won <3
Lol I know...getting a full interview at the finish line after the winners come in. I think they might be someone's favorite!

As if it wasn't obvious in the first 4 legs.

Bates & Anthony won by a landslide.. At least, Maxie didn't win.
Its okay - the team who fatally U-Turned Joey/Meghan won the race, good winners in my book! :colors :colors :colors

Joey & Meghan got eliminated because they didn't get on the earlier flight, not because they got U-Turned by Bates & Anthony. Didn't really mind if Bates & Anthony won, though.
-
Really? I didn't notice John & Jessica were there! At least they didn't get any airtimes/interviews, can't stand them

I'm actually happy Max & Katie didn't win because there's a chance they can get to the next UB/AS. :hearts:
Hopefully the next UB/AS will include teams before S11 too.

I reached that conclusion several years ago and then included the season 8 teams in my rankings without making a distinction.
And I was right, this season is the first to feature two switchback roadblocks in the same season. The only difference I could see is that each team was given a unique code phrase, (which meant that there was only one agent in a briefcase that was correct for that team) and only one briefcase that the team could open for their next clue.
Another item of note. During the live sighting of filming there were eyewitnesses who reported about the MLK aspect of the clue (there was a statute not far from the Lincoln Memorial on the edge of the cherry blossom stand of trees in the Tidal Basin) I don't think anyone picked up on the engraved step at the Lincoln Memorial marking the exact spot where MLK gave the "I Have A Dream" speech. So that was something new I hadn't known.
All in all I liked this season a lot in terms of tasks and locations; and I'm always glad when the best performing team overall wins at the end; it doesn't always happen (and I won;t bring up last season as a result.)
-
I think people from production need to sit and rewatch the first seasons of the show. I wanted more tasks , the last Roadblocks were SO easy!
-
And I believe this is the first time two teams of athletes finished in the final three (Don't forget that Mona-Beth are professional roller derby players.)
Well, Kisha & Jen were college basketball players and they faced the Globetrotters in the finale of UB
Incorrect......Kisha was a basketball player at University of Louisville, but Jen was a volleyball player.

Well, they were both athletes, so partial credit. Everybody wins.
-
So what happened with Max and Katie at the Tidal Basin? How did he miss the right agent? He seemed to ask the the correct code phrase to all the agents & even ran out of agents & had to double back around & start over again. Bates & Anthony got their agent right away. What's up with that?
-
Well it was a luck task somewhat and maybe he went one way around the Tidal Basin while his spy was in the other direction. IIRC, there were spies on both sides.

LONDON ! :yess:
"10 Countries" :yess:
30,000 miles :yess:

I'm pretty sure Phil, Bert and Elise weren't taking the ferries to and from Northern Ireland. And that detour task involving the final meal served to first class passengers on the Titanic was difficult, especially if you didn't recognize the dishes being served for a particular course (10 courses in all!!!). That was really a tough task.
-
This finale was a snooze-fest.
Okay see y'all next season.
-
Oh and Dave and Connor and Caroline and Jennifer are so gonna be on the next Unfinished Business, especially Dave and Connor. What a huge long interview that made it seemed like they won the race. :lol3:
-
That last task wasn't a road block? They seemed to be able to switch and even be helped by the partner. Not that is was too difficult anyway in remembering the countries. No close race for even 2nd and 3rd it looked like, the editing couldn't even make it look close. Best part of the final leg was probably making them think they would meet Obama, the seriousness of the security was quite funny.
In the previous leg it looked like they set too easy a time for the bog swimming, Bates and Anthony did it in 2 minutes. The country singers failed but because they had apparently gone the wrong way. If they hadn't had an alliance to protect them and so been vulnerable to the u-turn I doubt they would have made it that far at all. I'm sure they wouldn't have been able to do the harder barrels task. The best part of the penultimate leg was the menu task, but the fact that Bates and Anthony helped the mums out spoilt what might have been a better end. Helping other teams stinks, make people work it out for themselves. Make it a race between all the teams again please.
Annoying they gave the father/son team and even (!) the country singers a word at the end. Joey and Meghan for Allstars.
-
IMHO... I'm OK with the winner, but it was bad edit for Final Leg. When Bates & Anthony finished the last task, i knew they would win. Last season final task definitely harder & challenging than this. Last season we saw Beekman boys & the Chippendales racing to the finish line, but this time the Hockey boys racing alone. "Unpredictable finish" ?? I still don't get it :stare

I totally agree with you! It was a clean win.
Well, I was expecting a much hard final leg, but it seems it was pretty easy to do both the challenges. I hoped that. Well, grats on B/A, having all the strong teams supporting them, the result is pretty obvious. Next time, listen to the young guys and try to kick them out of the race. But, well-deserved race! Still wanted a better final leg though
-
I don't mind that B\A won, just surprised
-
For unpredicted finish, I just thought that B/A lost and the other two teams crossed the finish line before them lol
-
THAT WAS SO "PREDICTABLE"... Phil you liar! LOL!!! jk!
since the RB,and the baseball challenge, not onlyB/A're lucky, the baseball challenge is basically cake for them.
they gained so much lead there surprise, surprise
even got stuck not finding Indonesia (LOL what is it with the racers and Indonesia, it's like we made them got lost, A LOT!) :lol3:
they already done before Maxie and M/B arrived..
So happy for Bates&Anthony.. :keeta: :keeta: :keeta:
that final memory challenge was okay, but all the balls should've been marked... to raise more confusion
that way, all those three could possibly at least be neck in neck ... LOL
and Dave&Connor is SO going back on Unfinished Business...
not happy about that but oh well ...
-
Sighs. Dave/Connor are probably coming back. :res:
That interview gave me Gary/Mallory teas. But hoping for a better edit next time.

Exactly, which is why last season was one of the best. When Bates/Anthony completed the switchback first, it really was over.

I hope the winner isn't determined by this randomness :P
Magnus,
I am sorry to tell you that this task did in fact determine the winner of AR22. Max was unable to complete this task quickly enough, which caused a time deficit to Bate/Anthony which ultimately determined the race finish order.
-

Yeah, the winner was determined by two random tasks. I've been to DC and there's a lot more mental tasks they could have done there.
-
All I have to say about the episode is that luck tasks have no place in finales imo.
On the bright side, Belfast was amazing. <3
-
They got a montage! I actually can't believe they could make it this far! I thought they were over Leg 1
Those two babes have more brains and heart than the 2 roller derby hags. I thought they would win it all. Too bad.
I find your remark totally offensive! Mona and Beth are age 33 and age 36 moms and the country singers are age 29 and 30 singles. I found Caroline and Jennifer not too swift but lucky enough to survive to the penultimate leg. Mona and Beth are not going to compete on looks but they clearly have more brains and much more athletic skill than the country singers. However, neither team is worth a damn on navigation, the most critical Amazing Race skill.
-
Of course, a boring team won this season. :res:
I still would like Mona & Beth to be the winners.
Boring? These guys were hilarious!
Boring!

100% agree!!!!

While the spec that the teams had a task in London turned out to be correct, I don't think anyone had the teams taking a ferry to Liverpool and then a taxi to London to get that clue that sent them to D.C.
There were only 5 courses for the meal served under the tent:
1. Oysters for all
2. Soup (cream of barley or consomme)
3. Roast Squab and watercress with madeira jus
4. Asparagus Vinaigrette Salad
5. Dessert (peaches with chartreuse jelly or Waldorf pudding)
These are 5 of the courses (1, 2, 7, 8, 10) from the excellent actual list of the Titanic's last meal provided by Dr. Rox.
-
Oh - I was very surprised at how instead of immediately traveling to D.C they went to England(?) first. I missed that portion of the finale.
-

To me it was really good production scheduling. After the pit stop in Belfast, production had about 24 hours to get teams to Heathrow to fly to the US. The last flight on that Thur from Heathrow to Dulles was at 5 pm. So WRP had a chance to most everyone back to DC before teams even arrived at the pub.......well except for the minders. That let them get a good night's sleep in DC before teams arrived. I did notice the ferrys, but I put more stock in the previous TAR 15 conference room at Heathrow, than doing surface transportation to seperate teams from production.
-
Well, I agree with Joab. In the end, the last leg was essentially a replay of the TAR 10 ending. Only this time it was a much more exciting Final 3 with potential for a great finish, only to see predictability reign supreme once more.
Here's the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly for the Finale:
The Good:
- The Belfast leg was very well designed, featuring a good balance of smarts, luck, and physical skill that, in the end fulfilled its purpose in eliminating the team that was least qualified for the Final 3. Don't get me wrong here though: Caroline & Jennifer were a very likable team that definitely experienced what they were supposed to experience on the Race (see their elimination interview). But they were the weakest team overall (as I've said in the past, they should have been eliminated a long time ago), and probably the main reason Bates & Anthony didn't get U-turned at some point previously.
- Despite the above, I loved seeing Caroline & Jennifer support each other up to the very end, and get eliminated deservingly but very positively as well. These two were a very positive team, and I respect them a lot more now.
- I also enjoyed seeing a very real possibility of a comeback from Mona & Beth, which was really making me love the Final Leg. At least until...
The Bad:
- Once Bates & Anthony passed Max & Katie, the Race was all over. The teams were absolutely and indefinitely set in their positions, making for a "snoozefest" (as Joab said) for the Final Leg.
- The tasks were very poorly designed on Leg 11 (it's not 12 and I don't care what ANYBODY says on that matter). They were "eye candy" tasks that were meant merely to stimulate the average, casual tv viewer, while failing in every way to create excitement or unpredictability for me (a diehard TAR fan), or to separate the good racers from the great.
The Ugly:
- Finally (and perhaps this should be a subset of the previous point), the unfulfilled promise to the teams that they would meet the president of the United States. Honestly, I don't know what to say about this. It is very unacceptable, not only to me, but to the teams as well! Turning something that ought to have been a momentous and historic moment into a non-memorable joke is no way to create a truly amazing experience for anyone involved. It also demeans the sacredness of the presidential office (yes, I said it was sacred, even despite the fact I don't respect the man in the office myself. Props to Max for recognizing that.), making it seem as though meeting the President of the United States is merely a cheap, gift-shop-type, tourist event. Conclusion: If you can't get the president to meet with the teams in person then scrap the task entirely, and get a much better one. This lameness could very easily have been avoided.
Okay, I'm done now. On to another great season in the Fall! :lol3:
Disclaimer: I'm sure my post will generate a lot of controversy, as my posts often do. Please remember that these are just my opinions, and there is obviously no real good reason why anyone has to agree with them. I state them without any intention of offending anyone. Remember that being offended is your own personal choice - I can't make you be offended. (Also, on that note, I did indeed choose to be offended about my "The Ugly" bullet-point above.)

The editors showed the full menu card of all ten courses that was on an easel under the tent. While teams only had to serve 5 of the ten courses, it looked like all ten were set out on the plates by the chefs for teams to work from. I'll be able to double-check once the I-Tunes download is available for these episodes, but I'm pretty certain the full menu with all ten courses was there for the teams to see.

The good time planning was the result of using the slower mode of transportation to London for the teams, while production obviously flew out of Belfast to get to D.C. TAR loves using trains and ferries for the teams since that keeps them occu[ied while production flies ahead. Been true since season 1, folks. And in trying to reconstruct or even figure out things in real time, it is a principle that has to be keep in mind. TPTB will always use such transportation options for the teams if need be to get Phil ahead of the teams. The biggest change in the race course since the early seasons (dropping the "standard" 12 hour rest period and its multiples in favor of flex scheduling of rest periods at pit stops) seems to have been due to that particular issue of getting Phil ahead of the teams so he can film his stand ups and be at the pit stop before teams arrive.

I'm pretty sure the show also showed the full menu card with all ten courses listed, as well; as I recall, there were separate courses for beef, lamb, poultry, fisn, etc. on the full card. I wasn't able to record the show on the malfunctioning DVR last night, and I'm relying on the I-Tunes copy of each episode these days for my library of TAR episodes. (Ever since 13, in fact.)

Seasons over, Bates/Anthony, got their checks, on to the finale of Survivor, then these 2 shows are done for the season.

You actually missed my point completely. But teams did get to ride on the Caledonian train..just in the other direction that previously speculated.

I watched that particulary segment very close and was disappointed that they didn't do the full 10 course meal. Gool luck finding any mention of the real 10 course meal on the program. I agree with Alenavada that TAR only used 5 courses and only showed 5 courses. Tis a pity really, they used mostly single choice courses, except for the soup course.

theschnauzers,
What you see is what you get! I went over the menu poster quite carefully to see what what on it, which matched exactly with what teams served. I don't know if there were more than 5 courses in the prep area or not, but I doubt that you will be able to tell with iTunes. I suspect that your confusion may be due to remembering Dr. Rox's list of the actual Titanic last meal of 10 courses.
-
There were at least 7 dishes being prepared, 5 courses with 2 courses (second and fifth) with either or, which teams will have to remember which dish is for which guest at the table.

The RMS Titanic sank in the early morning hours of April 15, 1912. On the hundred year anniversary, this event was celebrated/memoralized around the world. One of the ways this was done was for restaurants to serve the dinner menu in first class that was served on April 14, 1912. In my city, there had to have been at least 100 restaurants, at a minimum, advertizing that fact. Many of them posted the menu on their ads. When I saw the screen caps of Max and Katie with the trays at the graving dock, that is the first thing that came to my mind. Then seeing the white tents, aboe and below, confirmed it to me. Below is the full menu. The part bolded is the part of that menu that TAR/WRP used in this episode.
The First-Class Menu
As served in the first-class dining saloon of the R.M.S. Titanic on April 14, 1912

We also know they plated some peaches with a red jelly. I really dont know what else they plated in the prep tent. I guess we need a person with some serious culinary training to look at screen caps and see what all was on those tables. Personally, it really doesn't interest me.
In the prep/plating tent, there two seating charts up on the wall. Obviously, the correct pattern for the 2nd and 5th courses, which had dual dishes.

The only thing that I think was really unpredictable about this finale was that Bates & Anthony were so far ahead that production couldn't even edit it to look like it could be close. They were able to edit things to make it look like the other teams had a chance of catching them at the ballpark and at the globes, but once Bates & Anthony left that task it was obvious they would win. The whole "I hope we're going to the right place" comments in the cab was just lame. The only way I could see them going to the wrong place would be if the cab driver didn't know where Mt. Vernon is.
I wonder if production had a sense that all 3 teams wouldn't be at the globe task at the same time. That ball pit looked awfully small for 3 adults to be able to do anything without banging into each other. Although a little elbow throwing might have made it more exciting.
When we saw the promo for this task my husband and I looked at each other and said "you've got to be kidding me" until we saw the pictures. I suppose that was the only other surprising part of the show given that the Obamas can't seem to pass any opportunity to be on tv and Max finally said something I agree with. Poor Mona and Beth either didn't notice that the clue said "1100 Pennsylvania Ave" or forgot that the white house is at 1600.
On a side note: I love your disclaimer Hooky. :lol3:

:
There were 3 globe pits and three display tents.........if that makes sense. Each team had their own. Just like in TAR 19, each team had their own wall to connect countries with the rope.

That explains it. I thought I saw Mona or Beth and Katie in the same pit at one point. I saw the 3 walls, but somehow missed the 3 pits.

Thanks! I just didn't want someone to misunderstand the purpose of the post.

On one of their exit interviews Katie implies that they were sharing the same ball pit

Amazing Race's Max and Katie: We Felt It Slipping Away From Us

The globes task was partially based on luck too. Does it bother you that there were two luck-based challenges in the final leg?
Max: The globes didn't bother me. It was partially based on luck, but there was some skilled involved. You did have to know what the countries looked like and what the order was. But the suitcase will bother me forever. It was all luck finding the guy and then you were also able to use your notes [to do the briefcase code], so it didn't even test your memory.
Katie: The globes one was extremely easy. ... You know the final challenge is usually something memory-related about the season. Even if you are not a smart person or don't know geography, every time you're on a flight for 12, 18 hours, you look on a map and you know what country you're going to and what it looks like. It was just a matter of finding the right globes. There were only a couple right answers. Once Bates and Anthony had gone through, there were fewer globes for us. I knew at that point that they were ahead of us. It was really disheartening.

One pit I believe.

One pit, three tents.

I wondered! Thanks for posting this.

This was like a TAR 19 Finale memory challenge. It could have been a great task but they marked out all the globes they needed to find in red ink I think and made the whole challenge a matter of "let's find the marked globes" rather than finding the ride countries and on the right continent. There should also be three pits and not just one...

One pit would have been more fun with 3 teams competing in the pit at the same time.

I think the ball pit challenge should have been first. Indeed, it would have been more climatic with three teams scrambling at the same time, but it ended up being kind of linear like the greeters ask in S17. I guess the final leg comes to me as a slight disappointment when I compare it to last season's where everyone was neck and neck and Josh & Brent pulled one of the biggest upsets.
-
Thank God, I really couldn't figure out how I missed three pits. I just figured it's because I have a tendency to multitask while watching tv no matter how many times I rewind something and tell myself that I really have to pay attention.
-
There's only one pit... and yes I agree, one pit with three teams inside will be exciting, that's why like what Dan said, should have been the first task then. Would be really exciting to see teams fighting with each other for the globes. :lol3:
