Is this a non elimination?
What is the evidence for 2 Botswana legs? Why not an extended pit stop in exotic Africa? I think that would be a perfect design, with just one leg in Botswana a distinct possibility. Is this a non elimination?
I'm pretty sure one of the Botswana legs are.
Episode 7 location is revealed:
If they were Kalahari bushmen, then they would be :) If this episode does not have the title, "Sesame Street on Crack," a part of me might die :( :lol3:
Also, additional info: The nearest airport shown on Google Maps is Hukuntsi Airport, near Central Kalahari Reserve.
Now let's hope there will be another Brian & Greg vs Ray & Deana Pit Stop race reenacted with Bates & Anthony and Chuck & Wynona! :colors
]Then do a side by side screencap and show us. :res:
LOL
I meant they look like the same people from S7 the actual person not type of people.
Still no Fast Forward :'(Rachel,
It seems like when they immediately get to Gaborone (airport hub of Botswana), they're signing up for charter flights to a national reserve... however, the teams are equalized since in Joey & Meghan's flight scene, you can see Max & Katie and Caroline & Jennifer behind them. In Mona & Beth's charter scene, you can also see Chuck's mullet.
In cap 24, Bates & Anthony are showing off a Detour clue running with tribal people with bows & arrows. Surely one of the Detour choices?
In Joey's scorpion scene, it's definitely a Roadblock as you can see him holding the red clue while reading the instructions. Scorpion holding and consuming prior to hunting them? ???
The hilarious tribals in the cargo might be the route info task after landing at the tribal reserve's nearest airfield. This is what I think:
After teams arrive at the tribal reserve, they have to take 3 or 4 tribal people back to their camp via Ford Escape. When arriving at the camp with the tribesmen, they will get their next clue by one of them revealing a Detour or Roadblock clue.
Of course, this is purely speculation. Exact location is unknown, but it is at a sandy-ish and open area with dry grassland and minimal vegetation.
Okay, thanks for the update. I'm guessing they'll just land on an airstrip since it's the only possible way ib my mind the Ford Escapes with the tribesmen play along the leg.Still no Fast Forward :'(Rachel,

We have sightings of teams landing in Maun, Botswana nonstop from Johannesburg. Maun is a different place than Gaborone although both would have small airplanes like the ones shown in the preview to take teams out into the bush.
It would be more epic if Chuck & Wynona were so close to the Pit Stop, but then the hockey brothers zooms out of nowhere. Ray & Deana did walk to the Pit Stop after they knew they were toast when Brian & Greg passed them a few seconds before landing on the mat. So that can be a plausible situation near the end. Also, additional info: The nearest airport shown on Google Maps is Hukuntsi Airport, near Central Kalahari Reserve.

Don't you think Chuck & Wynona are a little bit off for a reenactment of Ray & Deana? A better representation could be Joey & Meghan!
Now let's get back on topic before this turns into a thread-wide discussion

For this episode, we spent time at the Royal Tree Game Reserve outside the city of Maun.
Our Cause:
Royal Tree Lodge is a small lodge perfect for the discerning traveller looking to give back to the community as he/she enjoys the beauty of Africa. All proceeds from Royal Tree Lodge are invested back into the community of Maun through the nonprofit work of Love Botswana Outreach Mission.
Love Botswana Outreach Mission trust exists to develop leaders for Africa. Since 1987, founders Jerry and Jana Lackey and their dedicated staff have served the community of Maun and the nation of Botswana. The mission is committed to reducing the spread of HIV/AIDS in Botswana, fostering a generation of young people to rise up as change agents within their nation, and equipping caregivers to provide for those in their care. Through programs such as Okavango International School, All Nations Village Church, Lorato House of Love emergency shelter for abandoned babies, informal and continuing education, social outreach, and HIV/AIDS prevention and care, Love Botswana Outreach Mission directs the people of Maun toward positive change.
Profits from Royal Tree Lodge are directed to help fund the strategic nonprofit programs of Love Botswana Outreach Mission. Staying at Tree Lodge allows the traveller to give back to the people of Botswana and children in crisis. Tours of Love Botswana Outreach Mission can be arranged through Royal Tree Lodge. Guests can tour the facilities or volunteer for a day or even a few hours.
I referenced in a post above Moremi Game Reserve 80km away from Maun. The website for Royal Tree Lodge Activities has this under Game Drive:
Revel in a full day of adventure safari in Moremi Game Reserve. Game drives provide wonderful photo opportunities at close range. They are a very popular way to safely view even large predators in their natural habitat. Search for the big five as you track: lion, water buffalo, hippo, elephant, and rhino. Learn about local tribes and Botswana's natural beauty from Royal Tree Lodge's director and personal safari guide who himself, born and raised in Maun, has over 40 years guiding experience and a lifetime of personal adventure stories.
The self-driving is the only issue. I would expect that a visit to a game reserve would be done with experienced local drivers.

So it looks like Joey isn't giving up on the black knee high socks anytime soon.Joey & Meghan wanted to showcase their race fashion into TAR22 like Brook & Claire in their season  .
I stand corrected and I did read that post in the Media thread when it came out, so mea culpa. However, the last word is not in until that episode is over. We'll see where the pit stop of that episode is (although the chances are that it was in Botswana).
Namibia would not fit with the 9 country restriction. We have
1. French Polynesia
2. New Zealand
3. Indonesia
4. Vietna
5. Botswana
6. Switzerland
7. Germany
8. United Kingdom
9. USA
And doesn't "The race continues in Botswana" count for something?
BTW, Pam & Winnie holding the Detour clue inside the envelope? They seem to be doing something different to Bates & Anthony?
Now all we really need is a coca cola bottle!!!

Points from Slowhatch:
Why a right hand drive vehicle? (Botswana is left). Were the Fords brought in from So Africa for the publicity?? ???
Still would like something more for Mapula to convince me that's where tasks are...
I'll get a cap when I'm next on my laptop - you can see something is taped to the steering wheel of Mona and Beth's car in the promo :)
OK, I did some more digging and found a few Facebook sightings from Maun, Botswana. I'm convinced now that some version of TAR was there for the last few days. I'm also thinking it's very likely that it's TAR 22 and not TAR Norway, but no one has quite spelled it out. I'm thinking that it would have been mentioned if they were speaking Norwegian and I'm guessing the Norwegian version doesn't have the budget for the Hummer mentioned below.
TAR Witness
Wow, Bots recognized, a certain reality TV show is been shot right in front of me at Maun International Airport and Mack Air Offices. I'm wondering where are these guys going from here. They are couples traveling together with each couple followed by 2 Camera crews. Somebody remind me of the name, Please <Friend 2>, you know it and watch it

and the race continues, Amazing race or the travel show as they told. Met one couple today as i was walking down the dirty road and they had to find the Mokoro Station. Poor people, always with camera crew. Jus gave them direction to the Mokoro Station and they refused to tell me the name of the show. Good luck Guys
...
I checked out Mokoro Station and it seems to be the starting point for dugout canoe tours of the shallow waterways of the Okavango River Delta. Here's a couple of links to pictures of Mokoro canoes. The second was taken earlier today, but doesn't appear to be TAR related.

From reading a couple of blogs, they may see herds of elephants, hippoes, giraffe, zebras, kudus, antelopes, and buffaloes. Should be very scenic.
Also, in a moment of extreme synchronicity, Google maps announced a few hours ago that street level mapping of Botswana is now on line, including the Okavango River Delta where TAR 22 was seen.

Okay....looks like I am talking to myself again.... :hhello:
I found this though, which is closer, might give us some idea:
From Maun
take the Shorobe road towards the Moremi Game Reserve. After approximately 10km along this road you will reach a circle, turn left and we are 3 km on the left hand side.
We transfer you to the mokoro station on the Boro River by motorboat (about an hour)

And the clue in Chuck hands looks like a Route Info instead of a Detour.
Seems that they will depart from the Pit Stop and go to this bar/nightclub and than fly to Botswana
So they caught their scorpions....now what?? ???Fry it over a campfire and eat them like s'mores?

I hope so too because I certainly haven't seen it ;)
No way!! You have to stay and help us to the end! :yess:

CBS Apologizes For ‘Amazing Race’ Segment That Used Hanoi War Memorial
By THE DEADLINE TEAM | Sunday March 24, 2013 @ 8:59pm PDT
The memorial, which includes wreckage of a downed U.S. B-52, was used as a location where contestants hunted for clues. The Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion organizations had criticized CBS over the show’s use of the memorial. Two Americans were killed when the bomber went down. The segment also included a choir singing a tribute to the Vietnam Communist Party.
“Parts of last Sunday’s episode, filmed in Vietnam, were insensitive to a group that is very important to us — our nation’s veterans,” said the CBS statement, read before the start of tonight’s episode. “We want to apologize to veterans, particularly those who served in Vietnam, as well as to their families and any viewers who were offended by the broadcast.” There was no immediate response from the VFW, whose National Commander Jack Hamilton had written to CBS President Les Moonves charging that “the B-52 scene, as well as the young people singing a propaganda song, was totally unnecessary to the show’s plot, which speaks volumes about naïve producers who think they’re in charge when they are not.”
American Legion National Commander and Vietnam War veteran James E. Koutz issued a statement that said “America is a forgiving country. When you make a mistake, you own up to it. The American Legion applauds CBS and The Amazing Race for its apology. … We believe it to be sincere and heartfelt. We would like to thank the hundreds, if not thousands, of people who supported us through their Facebook comments, tweets, e-mails and phone calls. We would also like to thank Fox News Channel’s Greg Gutfeld for bringing this to our attention and his colleague Bob Beckel”, Koutz said. “To CBS, I say, ‘apology accepted’.”

The instructions read by Pam & Winnie says "MAKE YOUR WAY TO THE CITY OF MAUN, IN THE KALAHARI DESERT". Later Mona & Beth add that they have to find out in which country Maun is.
