The Amazing Race is more about the experience than the prize money, but since the next US edition now has a $2 million prize, do you think there will be a prize increase for the Australian version soon?
-
I think $250,000 is reasonable, but I wouldn't mind half a million.
I wouldn't be surprised if it raises to $500,000 by Season 5
-
I hope they increase it for the season that I apply to...

$250,000 is especially reasonable when you count that:
a) Practically all other Reality TV shows in Australia offer the same prize money
b) NO TAXES! :conf:

b) NO TAXES! :conf:
Yes! I think that's the reason why we're all happy with $250,000! But I definitely think it will increase someday soon ;)

Wow, I didn't realise it was tax-free before now! :o Now I think that's probably fair enough!

I think some season of AU BB had a prize of a millon but other than that most shows do only offer $100,000 to 1/4 millon in Australia.
-
Since the subject of taxes came up, how much of the million do American winners actually get on average? Taxing winnings from a show seems ridiculous, doesn't happen in Canada.
-
I don't know, after $2 million dollars gets taxed, you might get left with $2 if you're lucky.
