Title: TAR France LIVE Sightings, Spoilers, SHOW DISCUSSION
Post by: Plaidmoon on July 05, 2012, 08:33:55 AM
I'm seeing quite a few sightings of some version of TAR filming in the last couple of days. I'm not sure what version it is, but the evidence best fits it being TAR France.

I'll copy in Georgiapeach's guidelines for how to post sightings here.

LIVE sightings go here!  :hearts: And ONLY live sightings please!!

Comments on the sightings can go HERE .

IMPORTANT! If you find anything posted by someone working in any capacity for the race or by production, do NOT post it here, you can cost someone their job...or worse. Let me or one of the Detectives know, and we'll see if it can be shared. Thanks!

If you are posting a tweet, please post the tweet, the tweet time, and LINK TO the twitter user name. Take a screencap if you can, tweets do disappear.
Please be kind, and don't all bury the poor unsuspecting twitterer with questions, if you see another RFFer on the job, let them handle it.

If you are posting a FB post, please quote the post, PLEASE include the time and date, but do NOT post the poster's name. Please do send me the link and name though so we can keep a full list for the Summary thread.

If you find a BLOG, please check with me please before posting, we do try to ask the bloggers for permission to use their info and may be already waiting for an answer.

If you are concerned that any info gained from any sighting, FB post or tweet may be private or confidential or just "too much too soon", feel free to PM me to ask before you post.

If you HAVE a live sighting, help us as much as you can with
WHO (be descriptive, what they look like, is it a male/female team for example, what color they are wearing is helpful)
WHAT are they doing
WHERE (as exactly as possible... street? airport gate? address? be specific!)
WHEN (what time zone?, exact time)
and any descriptions of the action! Pictures are treasured!

If you have a spoiler and prefer to share it privately, you can email Georgiapeach, her email is in her profile. Your confidentiality will be respected. You can also PM here.

And even though we all get excited, please, once we have a possible location, take the location discussion to the location thread and leave the LIVE zone free for incoming info! :ty3:

The mods get grouchy if they have to move posts.... so chatter WILL be deleted!

A sighting in Paris from Facebook:

If yesterday morning, you would have told me that Hannah and I would leave our little (and I mean itty, bitty) apartment in the Latin District and then walk (with very few stops) for the next 12 hours around Paris, I would have said you were nuts, being the weary travelers that we now are. My feet were already killing me, my back hurting from lugging around luggage for a month, and I have a blister that is so huge that I have named it Lola because it seems to have taken on its own identity. However, that was exactly what ended up happening in the end. Everywhere we went, there was something to see...including a cool bridge with hundreds (thousands?) of locks bolted to it (representing love, of course!);

I ended up sitting next to two guys who were active contestants in the Amazing Race;

 I got yelled at and practically chased down by a little French man who was angry that I took a picture of his little book stand; two women (at different) times tried to scam me out of money with a ring trick, but thanks to Rick Steves and his travel books, I was already on lookout for it (and feeling quite smug not to be outwitted!);

<the rest was snipped>

Just to muddy the waters further, I've seen fairly convincing sighting reports with teams and cameramen in the last 4 or 5 days from Malaysia (including a picture), Norway and Seattle. Geographically, those sightings don't fit with a route from Paris to Dubai, so I'm not including them here until we have a better idea what this race is.

I found a French news story that refers to TAR France as currently recording, so it may be TAR France. It's not conclusive evidence though.

http://www.jadorelespotins.com/201207/exclu-alexandre-delperier-presentera-the-amazing-race-sur-direct-8/40493/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter (http://www.jadorelespotins.com/201207/exclu-alexandre-delperier-presentera-the-amazing-race-sur-direct-8/40493/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter)

The Google translation

The rumors spoke of Lilian Thuram but finally Alexander Delpérier who will present the new series of adventures of Direct 8! The group Canal Plus has bought the rights of the American show "The Amazing Race" for a French adaptation that is currently being recorded ...

In the American version, The Amazing Race is a rally around the world in which teams of two or four candidates are racing around the world against other teams. The team finishing first wins a million dollars.

Stick the pic up somewhere, maybe we can figure it out?
Seattle has a LOT of corporate races.

I was under the impression this French edition had some channel/station/sponsorship issues, but this could still be filming...

Good job!! :hearts:

I've been puzzled about it too. I don't think TAR Norway 2 or TAR Philippines are filming yet, but there has been an upswing in chatter about TAR Norway in the last week (and that could be what the guy in Norway saw). A local race is always possible. I tend to dismiss that when they have cameras, but that's becoming more and more common from what I've been able to tell.

The only new idea I've had is that it could be TAR India. I found an urgent recruitment message on Facebook on June 21st saying they needed a woman between the ages of 18 to 35 immediately. The picture was taken on June 25th, so the timing would fit.

Translated from here: http://linfonetrealtv.free.fr/pages/newsseul.php?idarticles=6403&idemission=5

In France it is society SHINE (The Voice, Masterchef) who will provide it and filming will take place in June and July 2012, the French will go through Jordan, Dubai, VietNam etc. ...

Looks like the race might be on!!

Good point. For some reason I was thinking that they might be getting ready to film TAR Philippines 2 already, but I suppose that won't be planned until the first one airs and gets good ratings. Derek Ramsey was tweeting about going to Japan a few hours ago, but apparently not for TAR Philippines.

Google translates this as

The Amazing Race came to France in October on Direct 8. 23j shooting from this week. First step Dubai.

What is interesting is that he posted this at Charles De Gaulle airport while he was waiting to fly from Paris to Dubai. He spent about 12 hours in Dubai and then flew on to Sydney for an Australian software conference. He might have seen the teams flying from Paris to Dubai or he might have been passing along one of the news releases abot TAR France from a few days ago.

According to Wikipedia, Harajuku is a section of Tokyo noted as "a fashion capital of the world, renowned for its unique street fashion.  It is also a large shopping district that includes international brands, its own brands, and shops selling clothes young people can afford."

Wikipedia also states that Take****a Street  is a pedestrian-only street lined with fashion boutiques, cafes and restaurants in Harajuku in Tokyo, Japan. Stores on Take****a Street include major chains such as The Body Shop, McDonald's and 7-Eleven, but most of the businesses are small independent shops that carry an array of styles. The shops on this street are often a bellwether for broader fads, and some are known as "antenna shops," which manufacturers seed with prototypes for test-marketing.

Good work, Ovalorange! I only had the middle one. I don't think any of yours had been posted. Tats? Temporary ones I hope.

The Facebook witness is from Laie, Hawaii out on the north shore of Oahu (or at least on the way there). The only dump I could find was way over on the west side of Oahu, so I can't tell for sure where the witness was when the encounter happened. However, a few days ago I did find some indications that TAR France may have gone to Turtle Bay on the North Shore of Oahu, so this sighting may fit with that.

We need a TIMELINE. :yess:

This is my attempt at organizing some of the dates and places from the tweets.  It's not a very detailed time line, but it may help us figure out what else fits.  We've probably got legs between LA and Rio, and then maybe between Rio and South Africa.

July 3-4: Dubai (Ski Dubai, Shopping Mall)

July 5-6: Bangkok

July 7: Tokyo  (Harajuku)

July 9-11: Oahu (Honolulu: Ala Moana & Waikiki beaches, USS Missouri at Pearl Harbor)

July 11-12: LA (Venice & Santa Monica beaches; Hollywood; Walt Disney Concert Hall)

July 17: Brazil (Rio de Janeiro: Rio Carioca Square, aka Largo da Carioca)

July 19-21: South Africa (Cape Town: V&A Waterfront, Rhodes Memorial; Franschhoek: Huguenot Monument)

Thanks for the timeline, Boston_Jen! That's a good start. Also, thanks to those who were watching for TAR France the last week or so, since I've been too busy to do any searching.

I did have some time to day and found this on Facebook:

Plane very full due to Amazing Race team on board! Wow!

The person was visiting Cape Town and was flying back to their home in Pretoria. I don't know if that means TAR France is having a second South Africa leg in Pretoria or if they are connecting from there to another location. If they are connecting, I imagine it will be somewhere nearby in Africa. I'm not sure though. I would think Johannesburg would have better connecting flights.

They might be flying to Johannesburg and driving back to Pretoria, since they are in the same province of South Africa (Guateng) and are only an hour's drive apart from each other. Also, I don't think Pretoria Airport (PRY) has any scheduled service. Also, Johannesburg is a big flight hub, so I bet they are flying there. :)

Loverocked's post has the phrase 5mon next to the tweet. I'm guessing that means 5 months ago, which is way before TAR France began filming. It's probably some other version of the race, but I'm not sure which one.
Some of the pictures she posted are pretty old, so take that into account before speculating. They are great finds none the less.

I saw that second picture from 3 July in Paris shortly after it was posted. I recall that being somewhere else in Europe (maybe Prague) but I could be wrong. At the time, I decided it was just a decorative banner that was red and yellow and didn't post about it. If it is in Paris, the timing would be right for the beginning of the race.

I came across some information suggesting that during the Cape Town leg, TAR France may have had a task where the racers had to go diving in a shark cage and mingle with the sharks! I'm trying to get more details about this and will post it if I get anything more.

It is the Institut de France in Paris.  It is directly across the river from the Louvre.  The bridge in the foreground is the pont des Arts.

Post by: boston_jen on July 25, 2012, 02:44:05 AM
The bridge is lined with "love locks" left by people who want to leave a symbol of their eternal love.  The city cut all of the locks off back in 2010, but the tradition continued, and the city backed down.  In the picture from July 3 we see the locks are quite numerous again.  Perhaps it's a "key" to a starting line task?
Title: Re: TAR France LIVE Sightings and Spoilers
Post by: Plaidmoon on July 25, 2012, 08:09:00 PM
Boston_Jen, I stand corrected. I guess I was wrong about that. It still looks too quiet for a TAR shoot, but I do see what could be a couple of gear bags on the left side of the bridge. The "love locks" could make for an interesting starting line task. I look forward to seeing what TAR France has done.

Thanks DrRox, and I don't know if that one is part of TAR France and if they'd raced in New Orleans, then there'll be 3 legs in USA. :duno:

It was pointed out earlier that the dark haired guy in New Orleans doesn't look like the host of TAR France, so I don't know what to make of that picture. It could just be some video crew shooting a stand up in front of the cannon.

Anyway, here's something new about TAR France - a Facebook page. It was launched earlier today and doesn't have much content yet. There is a picture of someone (I assume it's the host) sleeping in a helicopter (actually, I imagine he's just looking down at something). Here's the link:  http://www.facebook.com/pages/Amazing-Race/286079078173458 (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Amazing-Race/286079078173458)

Cast is somehow typical, IDK. Some TARAus with cops, surfers, riders... IDK, there are some relationships that are never missing in the first edition of different franchises. I start not to like that. But cyberfriends, I think there were none since Bob & Joyce?? <3

PS. Now that I have installed the French TV at home, I will be able to watch a franchise live and sitting in my sofa! May help with anything you need about translating, even though I only know some basics of French.

I've been waiting for a french version for so long and I have to say it's great!.

I only have two complaints. One is the really weird placing of the pre-race confessionals and the other (much worse) is how the host talks over the race. We can see what's going on, we don't need it told to us.

I'm excited for the rest of the season.

The 1st leg is finish:

Show content
Antoine & Helena are the last team to arrive and are eliminated. The first team, Heidi & Michel don't win a reward. The detour was Camel/ Pearl, some teams did the pearl task but have some trouble. The camel track was easier. The roadblock is a skydive at 13,000 feet. There is also 3 others task, the task of the locks with the key in Paris, a Route Info in the greatest tower of Dubai and another task in Ski Dubai, the winter station. They build a snowman outside the winter station. The next leg will be in Bangkok with a food task including scorpion and another task with elephant.

It's times like this I love being French.

I thought the difference in how the last team is revealed is incredibly suspenseful. The last three teams are not given their position and are gathered at a later time. The placement is then revealed there. It was nail-biting.

I really enjoyed the music and sound effect used, it's definitely a breath of fresh air.

My only complaints this episode are the same, the random placement of pre-race confessionals and the host talking over the race.

If only I had the video file, I wouldn't mind making a subtitled version for everyone.

the 2nd leg in bangkok is finish:

- The detour in a market (Tasting/ Shopping)

A lot of teams make the tasting (eating scorpio and cockroach). Only one team made the shooping task and lose time. After checking in a hotel for the night, teams go to wat pho. They found a school girl with the clue, some teams got some difficulty to found her. After found the girl, they must go to wat arun by boat. However, 2 teams don't listen correctly the clue and take a taxi instead of a boat, they will have a 5 minute penalty at the pit stop.

- Roadblock: Count the number of statuette in the wat arun (100). Some team have difficulty and the weather is very hot.

After the roadblock, teams go to the village of Ayutthaya, at the elephant stay. They must clean an elephant in a lake.

This is the last task of the leg until the pit stop. An M/M team who finish last in the detour finish also last in the pit stop. The 1st team of this leg make a really good leg because they start at the 8th position.

Next week, Tokyo and a good leg including a sumotori task.

The 3rd leg in Tokyo is finish.

The first task of this leg is at Shibuya Crossing when they search a clue who is on a screen (looks like  the 1st leg of TAR19). It's a word in japonese about a famous dog (i forget his name). When they found the word, they say to a man with clue. Some team got problems, especially a M/M team who fall at the last place.

All teams go to a capsule hotel for the night period. Each team will start every ten minutes tomorow.

The day after, teams go to the Raichukainkan Temple for the Roadblock. A task with a sumotori (Japanese Wrestler) and a clue attached to the sumotori. The task is easy because the sumotori is a young men.

After that, teams go in Harajuku with another task. They meet a Manga Fan dressed as Sangoku (if you know dragon ball z) and offer him a pink present (pink is the favorite colour of manga's fan)

The race is not finish at all, a team got a problem with taxi two different times. We are now at the detour Fish/Pasta.
The fish task consisted to fishing 15 goldfish using the technic of a japanese game, goldfish scooping. It's a difficult task.
The other task is also difficult, teams walk with samourai shoes to give pasta soup for 150 meters. If they overturn the recipe, they must restart. 3 teams got problem with this task.

Teams make their way to Hikawa Jingan Shibukya for the 1st u-turn of the history of TAR France. The 1st team u-turn another team (the team who got difficulty with 2 taxis). After that, they go to  the pit stop at Odaiba Park.

All teams remain in the race because it's a NEL.

I don't know if the last team to arrived (the team who was u-turn) will have a speed bump.

If the word was "Hachiko", it's a copy of the beggining of the Japanese leg of TAR9.  And is also the night at the capsule hotel, only that it was after the leg's Detour in that season.

They used music from the Chronicles of Narnia movie in the third episode.

Overall, I'm really enjoying this version, the teams are fleshed out pretty well, they're interesting. The locations are great, the tasks are good and overall, I'm impressed. I'm hoping for a second season.

My only complaint is that I'm a little tired/annoyed at the host always talking over the show. this is a TV show, not an audio book, we can see what's happening.

It's definitely a pleasant surprise, I would rank it as currently the fourth best TAR version. Behind the Australian version, the US version, and the Chinese version.

The 4th leg was in Hawai.

At first, team make a roadblock at Pearl Harbor, on the USS Missouri. Each contestant must translate a semaphore code with flag. The translation is the next destination, Kawela Bay. 3 teams got problem and 2 contestant of the same team have a quarrel.

After that, team go by car (they drive herself) to Kawela Bay for an overnight period.

Tomorrow, the race continue with a detour rock/ice at Magic Island.
Rock: Each team must take a paddle surf and go in the water to found a rock. They came back to the beach and break the rock.
Ice: Crush ice with a saw.

The pit stop was in a small island, i don't remember the name. The winner is a M/F team and the second team was arrived at the last place of the NEL of the previous leg (and no Speed Bump!). The last team to arrived at the pit stop is a F/F team, they are eliminated.

Next leg at L.A., Hollywood, cars and ice cream are present.

I managed to finally find episode 3 and 4 - I think 1 and 2 are no longer available or at least I could only find short video's of it.
However the recapitulations of the previous episodes are so extensive that you don't really need to I think.

I like it but I think 2 hours is too long as all that happens can be done in 1 hour episodes too imho.
There is too much repitition (the host stating the bleeding obvious not once but 3-4 times as if the viewers lack short time memory for one thing eg  :gaah: ) and the interviews that are interwoven take a long time and take away the 'pace' of the race & tasks that are being performed I think. Too much time spent on how everyone feels and things and is deflated in spirit or whatever..

I like the destinations but as the flights seem all to be pre-arranged there isn't much of the rush feeling you'd get on the race, and there isn't much movement between the teams except for how they happen to do on specific tasks. I don't get the same 'interaction' feeling like I do on the American TAR, as so much seems to be chewed out in advance.

Also I kind of don't like how easily the contestants seem to want to give up, or seem deflated. I always like it when contestants don't give up hope as in TAR you really never do know.. this last episode 3 couples at minimum were ready to give up it seems and thought they were last.. I don't really get that..

Other than that it's enjoyable enough to watch I think. :) Not really rooting for anyone in particular yet, there's nobody that really stands out and nobody I dislike although one of the ladies on the surfer's team is a little annoying as she's competitive but generally not competent at the tasks so far, so she gets frustrated a lot.  :duno:

Pretty much agree, except I don't mind it being longer but would prefer that it were only an hour and a half. The Surfer chick who's competitive but soft is Alice. They're my favorite team only because I find Stephanie  :hrt:, her teammate attractive.

Honestly, the only bad thing about this version is the host, both how he presents and how he narrates over half the show (which is getting really, really old).

Every else is really good. The cast, the location, the editing, the tasks. I am loving it

New audience fall on Amazing race D8

Monday, December 3, D8 has released the seventh episode of Amazing race in the first part of the evening.

During this, the five remaining pairs continued their stay in Brazil. They arrived in Rio de Janeiro. When "roadlock" candidates had playing football, one of the passions of the premises. A party that was complicated because each dribble while dancing the samba or, alternatively, build a sand castle.

On this occasion, the adventure game has made its weakest performance with 445,000 viewers for only 1.7% of the public present at his post. The issue was then overtaken by all Freeview channels with the exception of France 4.

The 8th leg of this race was in cape town in South Africa. The detour was disco (a dance) or radio (build a radio). After they go to the district 6 museum when they did
a cube puzzle with 2 streets. The crossroad of this 2 streets is a house when teams must go. Teams made also the nelson mandelay bay (67 minutes in a orphanage).
To finish, teams go to the cape of esperance and after at the pitstop, the Rhodes Memorial. It's a NEL, next time, the 9th leg and the semi final in a safari! A task
with wine and others task. The last team will be eliminated.

About the ratings, some Amazing Race Fan are frustrated in France, some teams also. According for some news, the next season will be at 75% with VIP (but we are
not sure that the second season will be). The rating are horrible, D8 think that this show will be one of the greatest of this channel and push them to really good ratings
like 1 000 000 but not at all.

They used music from the Dark Knight, The Lion King, How to Train Your Dragon, The Chronicles of Narnia: the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Brokeback Mountain, Casper and Chicken Run in this episode. I hope they acquired the rights.

The semi final is finish. We have the top 3!

At the start, teams go to L'aquila to a safari.

The first task is a quizz about animals (for example, how many time sleep the lion?). There are 8 questions.
After, teams go to the detour Water game/ Earth Game. For the task "Water game", team used ostrich eggs and make an hole. They empty the eggs and fill him with water. They must fill a recipe to have their next clue. For the task "Earth game", teams must destroy 5 pottery using an object. One of the pottery is black, if a team destroy him, they will have a 10 minute penalty.

The next destination is the U-Turn. A team used that.

The last task of the leg is a roadblock in a winery. A member of the team must roll a wine barrel in 200 meters.

At the end of the leg, a M/M team win and is qualified to the final. A F/F team and a M/F team are also qualified. They discovered the first task of the last leg, a roadblock. A member of the team will be close in a steel cage near a white shark.

Amazing Race is finish in France and we've got a winner. The first task is the roadblock that i mentioned at the last post. After that, teams fly to Paris and go to the "Mer de Sable" at Ermonville. They found the clue inside sand. The next task is the detour at Chantilly Castle. Teams choose between Chantilly cream or Archery. The 3 teams choose Archery but one of them want to do Chantilly cream and refused to do the task so they switch and lose some precious minutes. The last task of the race was at Abbaye of Chaali when teams must found the distance between each city visited and Paris. The finish line is the Stade de France in St Denis. Anthony & Sonja win the race with a few minutes than the 2nd team, Hadj & Yacim. The 3rd team is Alice & Stéphanie. The winner of this race win 50 000€.

For the ratings, Amazing Race got 220 000 viewers for the final episode. That's normal because it's christmas.

Horrible News from Survivor France

'Survivor' France Contestant Gerald Babin Dies, Season Canceled

Tragedy struck "Survivor's" French adaptation "Koh Lanta" Friday, March 22 when 25-year-old contestant Gerald Babin died after suffering a heart attack during "shipwreck" challenge that also included a tug of war in Cambodia.

The show was immediately canceled for the season as Channel TF1 and Adventure Line Productions flew the contestants back from Cambodia to Paris over the weekend. Neither the network nor the production company has yet said whether they plan to continue "Koh Lanta" for future seasons.

According to THR, Babin began to complain about pain in his arms after the contestants jumped out of a boat, swam to shore and engaged in a tug-of-war. He received medical attention from the show's doctor on the scene and was airlifted to a hospital, but suffered a series of cardiac arrests in the helicopter before they could get there.

The network and production company released a joint statement reacting to the sad news. “Adventure Line Productions, TF1 and [host] Denis Broginart are devastated and join in the profound sadness of Gerald’s family.”

French 'Survivor' Doctor Thierry Costa's Suicide Linked To Contestant Gerald Babin's Death

Thierry Costa, the medical doctor who worked on the French version of "Survivor," committed suicide in Cambodia, the TV series' production company confirmed Monday.

In a handwritten letter, Costa described how he was affected by the media coverage following the death of one of the program's contestants.

The hit reality show, "Koh-Lanta," tests players' survival skills by putting them through a series of challenges and rewarding success with prizes and money. Gerald Babin, a 25-year old participant, died on March 22 after suffering a heart attack during the first challenge of the 2013 season.

"These past days, my name has been smeared in the media," the 38-year-old Costa wrote in a suicide note, which he requested be made public. Addressing his 20 years in the profession, the man said he had a feeling that all his efforts were diminished by what he called misleading stories.

After receiving anonymous testimony about certain "failures" regarding Babin's death, several French journalists questioned the contestant's cause of death, along with Costa's role in his passing.

Adventure Line Productions (ALP), which produces the show, on Thursday filed a defamation suit against anyone who sought to exploit Babin's passing. However, a second witness came forward Friday and cast more doubt on the circumstances of Babin's death.

Costa served as the staff doctor on "Koh-Lanta" for four seasons, ALP confirmed in a statement. The production company commended Costa for his high level of professionalism and his humanity toward both the show's participants and production crews.

ALP also addressed the media in its statement, advising that "this tragic event should encourage those who accuse and comment indiscriminately to exercise responsibility."

As the Agence France-Presse notes, though Cambodian authorities declared Babin died of natural causes, French authorities have launched their own investigation into his cause of death.

Babin passed away during the first day of filming for the show's 2013 season. France's Channel TF1 immediately canceled the show following the contestant's death.

Last season began filming on June 30th. It should probably start filming around next week if the schedule is the same as last year.

I just re-watched this season. I have to say, there is absolutely no question as to why this was never picked up for a second season.

This is the most dull television show I have ever watched in my life. This show took boring to an entirely new level. I note some previous posts talking about this, but they do not do it justice at all.

This is like TAR for babies. Everything is explained in excruciating detail by the contestants in interviews, and then is explained AGAIN in excruciating detail by the host in his constant voice-overs that account for at least 50% of each episode. This takes "snail's pace" to an entirely new level.

Take, for example, the leg in Hawaii. Teams did three things here: A flag semaphore Roadblock, a luau on a beach (not a task), and a Detour. That's it. Two tasks and a bonus thing, so a somewhat standard TAR leg. This was PAINFULLY stretched out to cover two whole hours. There was barely enough footage to cover a single hour episode.

But, keep in mind something; the first half of this season featured episodes that were two hours WITHOUT COMMERCIALS. So it wasn't 1 hour 20 minutes of boredom in Hawaii, but two WHOLE EXCRUCIATING ENDLESS HOURS.

How did I EVER bring myself to enjoy this in the past? Good grief... If you are frothing at the mouth trying desperately to find links or ways to watch this season, don't bother. It's not worth it.

The format of the tv reality show in France are generally 2hours. I remember TAR France and it was not the same as TAR Original. It was boring, too much descriptions. At the end of each episode, we got an highlights of 4-5 minutes who explain the main tasks and events of the next episode (After that, you know what will be happen at the next leg). The production of TAR France was boring.

I also liked it, good cast with some intelligent people, longer episodes meant some tougher tasks, more time to get to know them.  Even without subtitles I liked it.  I know those used to one hour shows (adverts included) may struggle, but it's just a matter of getting used to a longer format.  The Australian version was a slightly longer than one hour and that benefited too.

And why does it matter? Just curious.

In seasons 1-4 of the American season, finishing last on a NEL meant a lot more because of how important positioning was back then. Departing in last meant you were way behind and had to work hard to catch up.

On a modern series like TAR France, where everything is more standardized, finishing in last meant you were probably only behind by like 20 minutes. After finishing last in Japan, Anthony & Sonja departed from the Hawaii airport along with the other teams separated by only a few minutes between each.

I'm sorry, I absolutely have to disagree about "tougher" tasks. The tasks on TAR France were on par with a standard episode of TAR. In fact, a lot of them were much easier. Remember in Brazil where all they had to do was untangle a rope? That was a mini task before the main meat of the episode in New Zealand.
