Title: Coutzy's Commentaries on AusTAR 2! Episode 9 announcement.
Post by: Coutzy on May 24, 2012, 09:46:04 PM
My running commentary for AusTAR 2 Episode 1 will go in this thread.

Full Title- "Why Am I Not On This Show Yet? I Mean, Seriously?" -Coutzy (Non Racer)

11 teams of two begin The Amazing Race in Sydney, while Coutzy sits at home and rants about how stupid they all are, and how he'd be infinitely better than them at racing.

Watch for:
- Comparisons to be drawn between Coutzy's sister and the lady who will forever be known as "Hunner's Girl" (Who up until this point, seems unable to move much faster than what can very generously be called a light jog.)
- Ranting about auras, karma, the placebo effect and confirmation bias.

Coutzy's special week by week awards! These will be handed out shortly after the episode and will include:
The Clive Peters Play Of The Day!- This prestigious award will go to the racer that makes the best move of the week. This can be awarded for all manner of things, including but not limited to an inspired round of airport shuffle, excellent task selection or canny navigational skills. Anything that puts your team at an advantage will be eligible for this award.

Muppet Of The Week!- On the other end of the scale, this award goes to someone who clearly spent this leg sans brain, just like the characters by Jim Henson.

Heel Moment Of The Week- Awarded for the moment where someone does something that will achieve nothing but make people mad. U-Turns, Yields and certain acceptable gameplay skullduggery does not qualify for this award.

Congratulations, You Just Made Youtube (Sponsored by Watermelon Headshot, Inc.)- Named by Vanessa in TAR 20, this award goes to the moment that has the best chance of going viral online.

Any Other Awards That I Think Will Be Funny At The Time- Awarded because I felt like it.

At the moment the commentary will just be text based. Myself and my webmonkeys are looking into ways to turn it into an audio commentary/podcast and (If we're really really lucky) video. A review podcast will be sorted out if there's significant interest.

Watch this space for further updates. Worst case scenario- I post my commentary here, like last season.

BEST case scenario. :hearts:

I'm investigating ways I can post smaller updates faster and not compromise the flow of the show. I'd also like a way to be able to have people chat around me without breaking the flow too.

Less than 5 hours to go ladies and gentlemen! I'll hopefully be getting a bit of a warm up by doing Australia's Got Talent, so be sure to check in tonight before 9 PM AEST (4 hours and 40 minutes from now)

And finally, my prediction for boot order. Please note that this season I have intentionally left myself with as little knowledge of results spoilers as possible.

11th: Ross and Taryn
10th: Joseph and Grace
9th: Sticky and Sam
8th: Lucy and Emelia
7th: Kym and Donna
6th: Michelle and Jo
5th: James and Sarah
4th: Sue and Theresa
3rd: Shane and Andrew
2nd: Paul and Steve
1st: Adam and Dane

Goodness, that was painful to do. There's a lot of non-talent out there this year, by the look of things. Putting Hunners Girl that high up the list, along with the cheerleaders screams against everything I know about racing ability, but I honestly can't see any of the people below beating them.

And while I don't think an all male final is very likely at all, they really seem like the only teams that on any other season would be capable of making it beyond leg 5. Adam and Dane's complete lack of press attention fills me with a deep sense of dread, though.

However! Last season I was way off the mark with Dave & Kelly and Sam & Renee. So who knows?

Here we go! It's time for my warm up with the last bits of Australia's Got Talent!

We just saw an opera duo, Grant Denyer called it stunning, but lets see what the judges think:

Kyle thinks they were like two angels, but he wants to clip their wings so they can't escape. They sang very well, even though Opera isn't his thing.

Bryan thinks that people can appreciate how magical it was even though it was Opera, and there aren't many fans anymore.

Danni felt it was missing a moment where the two of them connected, and felt that if there wasn't an intro for them, she wouldn't have even known that the two had met. Kyle thinks it should have ended with a kiss, and Grant threatened to bring out the wooden spoon if Kyle didn't behave.

The girls say it was a huge moment in their lives, the biggest apart from getting married and having kids. Their number flashes up and asks us to vote if we want Divalicious to win.

Everyone gives them one last round of applause.

Next, Reece has dreamed of this his entire life, and hopes to launch his jazz career from the show.

And we're back. Next up is Reece, who Grant is calling "The New Buble" even though he is only 17.

Danni says Rhys has natural talent, but wants to see him challenge himself.

He's doing a swing version of Bruno Mars' "Marry You"

The judges were unimpressed. They all felt the song choice was very poor, and let him down, although his voice was good.

Kyle loved it, which is very weird because HE IS SUPPOSED TO BE THE MEAN JUDGE!

Bryan wants Australia to bear in mind how good he was when he picked a good song when voting for their Grand Finalists.

And that's the end of the show! Next up- The Amazing Race Australia.

GAME ON!

Grant: Morning is breaking over Sydney Heads, the entrance to the worlds biggest natural harbour.

From this harbour, 11 teams of two are about to embark on a race around the world. The teams are:

Shane and Andrew- Cops from Melbourne.

In our roles as cops we've been in some sticky situations, when you take someone to the trenches, we take eachother.

Cheerleader twins Michelle and Jo

We're born 34 seconds apart. The best things about being twins is more attention and finishing each other sentences.

Flatmates from Tassie Sticky and Sam

Sticky was born without one arm, and wants to prove that he can do anything anyone else can do. He steals the girls, which annoys Sam

James and Hunner Chick.

James is a 23 year old hotel manager, Hunners Chick is a 32 year old salon manager. They believe opposites attract.

Adam and Dane- Cousins.

They grew up with eachother and like to have a laugh. They believe their indigeonous side will help them out on the race.

From Geraldton WA, Sue and Teresa.

Teresa owns a hairdressing salon, and Sue has been working for her for 8 years. They believe very much in karma and positive vibes.

Athletic Father and Daughter Ross and Taryn

Ross played for Fitzroy and Melbourne in the AFL. Taryn's greatest accomplishment was making it to the top level of basketball in Australia.

Schoolteacher sisters Lucy and Emelia

They come from a traditional italian family. Lucy's voice is "A bit more on the woggy side." They work together at the same school, both teaching Italian.

Engaged Brisbane couple Kym and Donna.

They've known each other 4 years, and click together like 2 bits of lego. Kym is the rock, Donna is the crazy one. They're not here to make friends, they have enough already.

Joseph and Grace- Brother and Sister.

Joseph works for one of the big banks (I hate him just for that) Grace thinks he's a know it all, and she needs to tell him when he's wrong.

From Melbourne- Paul and Steve, workmates.

Paul runs accounts, Steve is more hands on. They are both in the roadworks industry. They are here to win. Paul isn't going to practice an elimination speech, because he plans on winning.

All do their run throughs, and Grant is explaining the rules.

Intro comes up, but we've all seen that before.

Grant talks about strategy, strength and teamwork.

There are 12 legs on the race. At the end of each leg, a Pit Stop. Reach it last and you could be out of the race. The winning team gets $250,000. This time the race will be longer and more challenging.

For the winners of the first leg, the reward will be bigger than ever before.

Description of clues.

First clue is on the backpack. When Grant gives the word run.

The world awaits, good luck, race hard, race safe.

GO!

Travel on foot to Barangaroo Wharf on Sydney harbour. Once there, they must navigate their car out, even though it is parked in by 24 black cars. They may only drive their cars forward or in reverse, and all cars are in the same puzzle so teams may have to work together.

Hunners Chick already has the Stupidity Music going on while describing her unique footwear. My sister would have done much better off the starting line, I'm sure.

Paul and Steve are the first to a boat, and it's one boat per team. Kym and Donna are second, followed by Michelle and Jo.

Lucy and Emelia are bringing up the rear, and mention that its good to have decent shoes while they step over a puddle, but lament their inability to beat Hunners Chick on foot.

Paul and Steve and The Cops are at the car puzzle. Paul wants to take his time to look at the puzzle before choosing a car.

The Cops feel that their background as police prepares them for all situations, then promptly open the bonnet of their car instead of a boot.

The cops and Adam and Dane are starting to work together. Paul and Steve worry they might be clearing the way for other teams  with their car. They get a clue once their car is out.

Teams must now drive themselves to Sydney Airport, then fly to Manila, Phillipines, then travel by taxi to a market, then find a marked stall for their next clue.

Paul has heritage in the Phillipines, and has been there before, but not for a long time.

Adam and Dane turned to get out, but they've caught themselves and are resetting.

Michelle and Jo have it solved quickly. Sticky and Sam have got lucky and found a car with an open path to the exit, they're out in 2nd place, The Cheerleaders in 3rd.

Sticky is having no trouble driving the car. The cheerleaders are from Sydney and turn left. Sticky and Sam wonder if they are from Sydney, but turn right.

The first instance of Aura Cleansing Spray (TM) is recorded, and the strains of a sitar behind Sue and Teresa doesn't do anything to dispel their image.

Teams 4, 5 and 6 are out of the maze.

Hunners Chick doesn't take kindly to being told to "shut up and listen" and promptly waddles off.

Michelle and Jo have made up time on Paul and Steve, and are now level at the airport. Sticky and Sam have wound up crossing the Sydney Harbour Bridge (MISTAKE.)

Ad break.

Sticky and Sam are in good contention for being Muppets of the Week so far, but let's see how it pans out.

We're back.

Sarah has proven herself exceptionally useless at this puzzle, and is running in circles.

The Cousins and The Sisters are working together.

Lucy and Emelia are sticking around for a moment to check out the eye candy, but Adam and Dane, Lucy and Emilia and James and Hunners Chick are out.

Sue and Teresa are last.

Michelle and Jo reveal they were airline employees, but the first flight out has been delayed one hour. The cheerleaders claim that if it wasn't delayed, they'd have been the only ones on the flight. As it stands, Paul and Steve have also booked tickets.

The Hippies "didn't work out it was a puzzle until we got the last car out"

The sisters are arguing about whether or not yelling at cab drivers for directions is a good move.

Teresa is talking up her driving skills, and I smell foreshadowing.

Joseph and Grace thought that James was Sarah's son ala Toni and Dallas. The Cousins inform them that no, they're a couple.

All of the puzzle comes to naught, as every team makes it on the same flight.

Everyone sprinted to the taxi rank and scattered. Michelle and Jo have donned bright pink tank tops and ran onto the road, stopping traffic and securing a cab.

They've caught the attention of Paul and Steve, who now rank the two as a serious threat to them. Sue and Teresa are out pretty quickly.

Emilia says it won't be an eating challenge because of the time of night. More foreshadowing, I smell.

Michelle and Jo are first to the market, and now each team must eat a total of 8 Balut (The same amount Bobby Jon ate on Survivor, IIRC) to be able to move on. The cheerleaders have no clue what Balut is. Michelle says she can't do it because she's a picky eater.

Coutzy would have most definitely struggled with this one, but my sister would attack it with gusto and I would begrugingly force it down.

Ad break.

And we're back. The Honda CRZ gets a plug for their reverse camera technology.

Michelle and Jo are working at it. Jo takes one bite and gags, not because of the taste, but the texture. Michelle is trying to out think what she's eating, and fails miserably. The locals are cheering her on.

Ross and Taryn, Kym and Donna and Paul and Steve have arrived.

Donna is allergic to eggs and Kym is thrilled about that. Paul knows what balut is, but has never had it. The boys are having no trouble with the food, they actually seem to be enjoying it. The boys suggest that Kym and Donna have a dominatrix/slave relationship, which would be interesting on its own.

The cops have arrived. They both "made the fatal mistake of looking at it"

Paul and Steve are racing eachother to see who can get 4 down first, and it's worked because they are first to get the clue to sign up for one of 3 charter buses, departing half an hour apart. The buses will travel 10 hours south to an active volcano.

Joseph and Grace and Adam and Dane have arrived. Grace is shovelling the balut down like their is no tomorrow. She is going to outpace Joseph. Adam has had one, and is dry retching. Dane is happy to eat 7 more. Sticky and Sam have paid their cab 2000 for a ride that everyone else has paid about 300 for.

Lucy and Emilia are less than enthusiastic about the task, as are Sticky and Sam. Emilia said that the one thing she didn't want to do wsa an eating challenge.

Michelle is the first to chuck, and Jo screams that she's a sympathy spewer (apparently it means if she sees someone else throw up, she throws up too.) Kym is done with their eggs, and they're off.

Paul and Steve are team number one to sign up for a bus.

Ross and Taryn are out of the food challenge in 3rd place.

Grace has eaten 5 eggs in the time Joseph had 3. They're out in 4, Adam and Dane in 5 and The Cops in 6.

The cops' driver says he knows a shortcut.

Hunners Chick has got to the challenge, along with the hippies.

Sue is a member of Greenpeace and the WWF (Not the wrestling kind), and almost collapses when she sees what it is.

Hunners Chick holds the egg for maybe 1 second before spitting it out, but tries again admirably.

Despite their reservations, Sue and Teresa smash through the task and get out in 8th.

Michelle and Jo are the only team left at the food challenge, even though they arrived first. They're worried they will be eliminated.

Ad break.

We're back

The Hairdresser Hippies hope that the universe forgives them for what they've done. I think they should be more concerned with whether their gastrointestinal system will forgive them.

Sticky and Sam are stuck with no money and no cab, and unless someone else accidentally books flights back to Australia, I'm declaring them Muppets of the Week.

Hunners Chick is not living up to the task of being better than I think my sister would be, though she wsa probably going to fail that anyway.

James and Sarah are weighing up whether they should have helped Sticky and Sam. They don't want to look like bad guys, but have decided it was smart not to.

Joseph and Grace have spotted the sign up board, but she dawdled while Adam ran in front to secure the last spot on bus 1 with Kym and Donna and Paul and Steve.

The cops' shortcut has turned into a long cut, and Taryn and Ross, Lucy and Emilia and Sticky and Sam have gotten bus 2, while Hunners Chick, Michelle and Jo, The Cops will be stuck on bus 2.

The Cheerleaders and the Cops may not arrive in time for bus 3, but all is well that ends well, they've got on. Sue and Teresa made it in the first slot on that bus, unaired.

The first bus has arrived. Paul and Steve are first to the detour: Pig or Jig. It's a basic catch the animals versus do a dance Detour.

Donna was an aerobics instructor and feels Jig would be easy, while Paul and Steve are going for the pigs. Each person has to grab 2 pigs, though they have been greased up. Steve catches a pig quickly, but loses it when he walks between the catch pen and the holding pen.
Title: Re: Coutzy's Commentary- AusTAR 2 Episode 1 "Why Am I Not On This Show?"
Post by: Coutzy on May 30, 2012, 07:00:19 AM
And we're back. Paul and Steve have dropped one of their pigs, but got it back and it's in the holding pen. Adam is now in the pig pen too, and has fallen over in spectacular fashion, but he's got a pig and it's Paul's turn. He's got a pig quickly. Kym and Donna are worried they may take too long with the dancing, so they're changing to the pigs. Dane and Paul are both in the pen, Paul runs into Dane for no real reason, but tries to make it look accidental.

Teams must now travel by Jeepeny (TAR 5) to a bay where they will find their next clue.

Adam and Dane are not far behind Paul and Steve, but have taken a break to wash the mud off first. Donna grew up around livestock, and worries that pigs may bite, but she gets one easily, Kym right behind with his first.

The 2nd bus arrives.
Title: Re: Coutzy's Commentary- AusTAR 2 Episode 1 "Why Am I Not On This Show?"
Post by: Coutzy on May 30, 2012, 07:08:11 AM
All teams on bus 2 go for the pigs. Sam is first in the pen and shreds his knees on the gravel. Ross channels his football background to tackle a pig, and Sticky tags in to capture a pig. Taryn is trying her best to follow Ross's advice and "Grab it by the guts!"

Sticky and Sam have had no worries with the pigs and are away. Ross and Taryn right behind.

For all the footy fans in the crowd, laying tackles on pigs reminds Ross of "Plugger Lockett at the SCG"

Grace and Joseph are done with their pigs. We switch to the bay where Paul and Steve are in a slight lead over Adam and Dane.

Teams must now build a raft using basic materials and paddle it across the bay to Mossboron Beach and the first pit stop. The last team MAY be eliminated.

Paul and Steve don't know much about what to do, while Adam and Dane are going hard at it.

The Teachers are trying to be calm and pick them up slowly, which is working surprisingly well.

Bus 3 arrives, The hippies, cheerleaders and Hunners Chick go for Jig. The cops elect to tackle pigs quickly.

Michelle and Jo fail their first attempt at the dance, although they didn't look bad from the couch at home.

The cops are done with the pigs before any of the dancing teams. Hunners Chick is now in the pig pen. She tries to catch a pig, and unintentioanlly flashes a crowd in the Phillipines because she's wearing her "Ra Ra Skirt and G String" :res:

Hunners Chick jumps in the cleaning barrel to make it easier.

Michelle and Jo take another shot at the dance, fail and give up. The Hippie Hairdressers are having a miserable time of it, not even getting close as the Blonde's start their journey in the pig pen. Jo is having real trouble picking up a pig, Michelle tags in to show her how it's done and gets it done in about 10 seconds. Michelle is offering advice to her lesser abled sister. They trade a few less than encouraging words on giving up, and Jo's eagerness for said giving up.

We're back.

A plug for The Amazing Race Australia facebook page and the website.

Blonde's are still in the pen, and share a few more words on giving up and Jo's technique. Jo catches her first pig.

Paul is really struggling with the raft building, but Adam and Dane are on the water, and their boat is floating.

Kym and Donna are on the beach and starting their raft. The pair paddle in the ocean for fun. Paul and Steve are trying their raft, and it promptly falls apart.

The blondes are done with the pigs. The Hippie Hairdressers get out their Aura Cleansing Spray (TM) and get the dance done on the next attempt. Cue rants about the placebo effect.

Ross and Tarryn are at the rafts. Ross wants to take his time and make sure the raft holds until the end. Sticy and Sam are going for a catamaran like structure similar to Chapera in Survivor All Stars.

Lucy and Emilia read an important note: If the raft breaks, teams must go back to the start and begin again.

The Cops are stepping back to have a good think about it. Kym and Donna have built an impressive looking raft and blow by Paul and Steve, who are apparently on their 29th attempt to build a raft. It appears 29 is the magic number. Adam and Dane's raft is starting to fall apart with only 100 meters to go, so they bail out and reset, though they are very close to the Pit Stop.

Ad break.

We're back. Zuji.com.au promises to give us a unique holiday.

Michelle and Jo are at the beach and proclaim to not be out of it.

Hunners Chick has started paddling, but has lost her shoes.

Ross and Tarryn are on the water.

Hippie Hairdressers are on the beach and still have hopes of finishing not last. Paul and Steve are paddling and sinking and falling apart. Ross and Tarryn have a raft that is holding together well. Kym and Donna are getting closer and closer albeit slowly. Ross and Taryn are passing other teams with pure rowing power. Steve is telling Paul to stop standing around and help fix the raft.

Paul thinks they can't finish the raft as is and need to either eat a penalty or completely restart.

Lucy and Emilia's raft is going horribly, while the Hippie Hairdressers have a good looking craft.

Joseph and Grace are paddling. Sticky and Sam are paddling well, Sticky says "Now that the novelty has worn off, I'll have to find a new thing."

Kym and Donna are just in front of Ross and Taryn heading to the Pit Stop. Ross and Taryn have passed, but Kym and Donna hit the beach at the same time.

it's a run, and the father daughter duo hit the mat first, winning themselves $10,000 courtesy of Swisse. Ross says Thank you to Swisse like a good little promo model.

They have also won the Salvage Pass. They can use it in one of 2 ways.

They can gain an additional 1 hour head start at the start of the next leg

OR

Use it to save the last arriving team on this leg.

Ross mentions that he is the oldest racer on this race at 55, does this make him the oldest leg winner ever?

Kym and Donna hit the mat in second place.

Hairdresser Hippies are rowing well, Michelle "sees whinging" in Jo's face. The cops chose to lay on their raft instead of sitting. Lucy and Emilia are heartened by the sight of Paul and Steve restarting.

Hunners Chick hits the mat 3rd, with the Hairdresser Hippies making an impressive comeback to land 4th.

The cops use their belly strategy well and pass Adam and Dane.

Sticky and Sam land 5th, Joseph and Grace in 6th. Michelle and Jo in 7th place.

Lucy and Emilia are having trouble getting on the water.

Lucy is in tears, and she "just wanna make it to the Pit Stop"

Ad break.

We're back.

The sisters are contemplating what to do. It having not worked 3 times. The sisters have reread the clue, and are doing something not quite legal. They have noticed the clue doesn't say they CAN get help, but it doesn't expressly say they can't get help either.

The Cops have landed in 8th place, and Adam and Dane are right behind in 9th place, so we're down to Paul and Steve and Lucy and Emilia.

The Teacher Sisters have a good craft, and are now paddling as darkness starts to fall.

The boys are on the water and night has well and truly set in by the time they start to arrive. Paul and Steve are gaining on the sisters.

Paul and Steve overtake the girls on the water and dash to the mat for a 10th place finish (No penalty mentioned)

The sisters have hit the mat last, and now its time for Grant to call over Ross and Tarryn for the Salvage Pass decision.

Ross mentions that he is the oldest racer on this race at 55, does this make him the oldest leg winner ever?

Mel White won a leg at age 68 in Amazing Race 14.

The decision comes through.

Lucy and Emilia will be staying in the race, at the expense of a one hour head start at the beginning of the next leg (Useless)

NEXT TIME:

Teams fly to Dehli, India.

A Bollywood scenario won't be the only thing to bring teams unstuck.

James and Hunners chick start to unravel.

Hunners Chick claims James is "useless as tits on a bull."

And it is time for Coutzy's Amazing Race Australia Awards!

The Clive Peter's Play of the Day!

This week, I'm giving it to The Hippie Hairdressers for their incredible comeback at the rafting portion of the task. A bit of luck and skill at exactly the right time for them.

Muppet of the Week!

For this leg it has to go to Sticky and Sam, for their ridiculously overpaid cab driver. The last time someone paid that much over their fare, there was a bikini clad woman in the back seat.

Congratulations, You Just Made Youtube

This one has to go to Michelle and Jo, the sympathy spewers. There will be a few people watching that one tomorrow.

Heel Moment of the Week

Paul, for his body check in the Pig Pen. He gained nothing out of that.

The Cho Bro's Memorial 'Gee, I Hope They Don't Beat Us Now' Trophy

This one goes to Ross and Tarryn. Keeping another team in the competition when there will be literally no consequence of letting them die is never a smart move, even if they look to be one of the weaker teams of the competition.

I am much, MUCH more interested to know if they would have done the same thing if it was Paul & Steve who hit the mat last, since despite their lack of raft building skills, they do look like shaping up to be something of a power team of the competition.

And that's the leg. Feel free to add opinions or comments, I'll do my best to answer any questions about what happened in tonight's episode.

I beg to differ, there are consequences of letting the girls be eliminated. Presuming the teams already know about the must vote U-turns, WHY would you become a public enemy by getting rid of a team (particularly a non-hated, arguably lovable team) when all it's going to do is get you an hour ahead? An hour which is most likely going to be spent at the airport? I think it's a stupid twist on Active TV's part, the hour bonus really isn't that enticing when you likely have a solid amount of transportation ahead of you. I think Ross and Tarryn made the smart choice on saving the girls. They don't pose a MASSIVE threat, they're obviously not going to U-turn you and you don't make yourself hated by the other teams. Simple.

But hey, that's just my opinion, feel free to disagree.

There is nothing to suggest the other teams knew anything about the Salvage Pass. To them, it could have been nothing more than a plain elimination leg.

Personally, I think the Salvage Pass reward needed to be higher. I would have liked to see it combined with the Express Pass, and given teams the option to save a team or use it to skip a task whenever they wanted. That would have made it a decision that needed making.

How do they figure out the logistics of using or not using the salvage pass? There are 12 legs with 11 teams.

If there is no salvage pass, there would be 3 non-elimination legs assuming 3 teams race in the final leg.
The use of the salvage pass turned this first leg into a non-elimination leg.

So does this mean:
A. Somewhere along the line, there is a double elimination?
B. They remove a non-elimination leg further down the line?
C. Four teams race in the penultimate leg?

Good deduction. Then they can't call an elimination leg, a predetermined elimination leg! Methink, there'll be a double elimination.

How many salvage pass/es will there be in TAR Au2? Just one?  :duno:

What if they eliminate someone at the mat in the middle of the TBC leg? It's not technically a non-elimination, it's also not an elimination, it doesn't have the awkwardness of a double elimination... it seems like it's the perfect fix AND it would be a huge twist for those of us who know the show.

Coutzy,

According to my definition of a ToBeContinued leg, episode 2 of ARAus 2 will not be that. It is just the leg after a NEL, which is quite different.

That does not invalidate your concept that there could be a mid-leg elimination.

And we're on!

Previously on. 11 teams set off on a race around the world.

Teams excited to fly to Manila. James and Sarah had a revealing time in the Phillipines.

Paul and Steve made their intentions clear, but Ross and Tarryn won the leg and the first ever salvage pass.

11 remain. Who will be eliminated tonight?

Intro credits.

Post by: Coutzy on June 06, 2012, 06:14:56 AM
The Phillipines is made up of more than 7000 mountains. This bay will be the start of the second leg.

Ross and Tarryn depart at 12:58 AM

Fly to Dehli, India.

Once there, they must make their way to a 2000 year old well, and unravel the turbans of Indian mystics. If the turban is empty, they must retie it before trying again to find the correct turban, which they can exchange for their next clue.

Kym and Donna, James and Sarah depart at 1:01 AM and 1:08 AM

Sue and Theresa depart at an unknown time before 1:15. They really like the vibe of India.

Shane and Andrew depart, and know that Indian's love their cricket.

Adam and Dane depart at 2:30 AM, Paul and Steve depart 2:34. Paul asks if the taxi driver has a lot of petrol (Smart move, in my eyes)

Lucy and Emilia depart, all teams are headed to Manila international.

Sue & Theresa get a 6:25 PM flight, Ross and Tarryn ask to get seated up the front because of his age.

James and Sarah can't agree on whether to buy tickets now or look at other companies.

So far it appears all teams are on the 6:25.

Michelle and Jo confess about how they're in sync, but Michelle likes to take the lead. Michelle says she'd love Jo to step up and be the one in charge.

Joseph and Grace can't find the ticket counter.

Joseph feels his strengths can make up for any of Grace's weaknesses.

James and Sarah are now arguing about Sarah wanting a coke. James wants to save money. James eventually buys her a bottle of water, which she refuses to drink out of spite.

Viewers are invited to use the hashtag #amazingraceau to weigh in on who's right.

Teams are starting to get antsy because the last two teams are very late to the departure gate.

Paul & Steve arrives, Paul says he wants other teams to focus on Steve, because he's the likable one.

All teams have made the 6:25 PM flight via Bangkok to New Dehli, arriving at 12:50 Am.

Teams scatter out of the airport and scramble for taxis. Sue and Teresa have a driver who is "driving like a crazy man"

The cops are trying to talk to their driver about cricket, he's not buying it.

Hunners Chick is still going on about the drink, but it's all for naught because the well doesn't open until 9 AM.

All teams head in and can't believe how many turbans there are. Teams must find a turban that says correct.

Sticky and Sam have found a "bloke at the bottom of the stairs who was looking pretty shifty."

Detour: Pull or Poo

In Pull, teams must travel to a dairy fam and take turns milking a cow. Once they collect half a litre of milk, they can get their next clue.

Poo: Teams must recreate TAR 18's famous "Crap you do for a million dollars" task and make manure patties to stick on a wall.

Ross and Tarryn find a correct turban on the first guess as well. The sister are picking guys who look good, and are having no luck.

The cops find one, Sue and Teresa lend a little more merit to the shifty guy theory.

Sticky and Sam are being approached by Indian ladyboys. Sam "did like it a little bit, (he's) not gonna lie"

The cops have switched rickshaws, and don't want to pay their origional driver on the Colin Theory (He was making us lose!)

There's a brief moment of Indian Cab Verbal War, and we have an ad break.

And we're back.

The cops have sorted out the taxi driver mess in reasonable spirits. "What can you do, you're in someone elses country so you've just gotta roll with it."

The sisters and Kym and Donna have a clue.

Ross and Tarryn and Sticky and Sam are at the first task, and both do a lot of stepping in cow poo anyway.

Sticky and Sam pick a cow that seems very keen to pick.

Ross has done his half, and is trying to talk Tarryn through it. Tarryn seems to be getting frustrated, and she goes to take her pack. Sticky is struggling to keep the saucer in position.

The Hippie Chicks remember the effect of cold hands, and rub theirs together before trying to milk the cow.

We're down to Michelle and Jo and Paul and Steve are still looking for the turban.

Paul doesn't "Want to be beaten by blonde bimbos."

The cheerleaders are going to milk the cow, and couldn't be happier,  because they "don't like the alphas"

The next 4 are at the dairy farm. Hunners Chick has graduated to Runners Chick, because she has changed her shoes.

Lucy and Emilia aren't particularly keen about their manure task, but are trying to keep their spirits up with a few jokes.

Kym remarks that Donna "has pulled a teat in her time."

Adam and Dane seem to be doing well, and Sarah wonders if they're called boobs (No darling, teats.)

Sarah says she really hopes they don't have to drink it, but fortunately, this isn't TAR 12, and they ain't camels.

Sticky is struggling stilll, and has spilt the milk a second time.

Another ad break.

And we are back.

Sticky and Sam have decided to switch tasks. Sam recalls it's the first thing he's ever quit.

The Hippie Chicks are done, and now they must head to Bollywood, where BOTH team members must complete a scene including script and dance. (Meanwhile, Bopper and Mark are on their 100th attempt)

Sticky and Sam are aiming to beat the sisters at the poo task now that they've switched. Michelle and Jo and the brother sister combo arrive as 2 teams finish. Adam and Dane are nearly done.

The Cops run into the Alpha's en route, and Paul and Steve torch past them without offering any help.

They take a look at what everyone else is doing, and decide that manure is the way to go.

Runners Chick is done, along with Adam and Dane. Sarah says she's throwing her runners out.

The Hippie Chicks are first to the Bollywood task, and Ross and Tarryn are right behind. Hippie Chicks are rehearsing the dance.

Adam and Dane arrive at Bollywood and have spent the last of their money on their taxi.

Ross enjoyed dressing up, but less so the dance. Tarryn is looking less than impressive too.

The cops are finally at the dairy farm. Grace is struggling with the milking, and she has gained a new appreciation for Moo Juice.

The cops are having a good time. Michelle's motivation efforts are not appreciated by Jo, who promptly gets her own lesson in manure without having to even do the task.

Sticky and Sam have overtaken Lucy and Emilia, and Hunners Chick is bailing on their cab because it's going too slow.

Sarah is not wanting to pay the cab driver much, and James is trying to convince her to get back in a cab.

Hunners Chick rebuts with the wonderfully eloquent and logical argument of "I said no, ok!" and storms off in the general direction of Bollywood.

Ad break.

We're back.

James feels that using a cab that runs is better than waiting for one that might come along.

The Hippie Chicks are having their first try at the scene, and have a go at the script. Turns out it's in hindu, and they're struggling to get their mouths around their lines.

Lucy and Emilia have figured out the trick to getting the manure to stick, and tell the Alphas. Paul and Steve can't believe two things:

1. Their luck
2. The stupidity of the girls.

Ross and Tarryn are having their first go at the scene. They certainly won't be appearing on Dancing With The Stars anytime soon.
Title: Re: Coutzy's Commentaries on AusTAR 2! Episode 2 coming on page 3.
Post by: Coutzy on June 06, 2012, 06:51:19 AM
Kym and Donna get the dance done well, but a few well placed Indian cities in the script sink them.

The brother/sister combo are done with milking, leaving the cops behind in last.

Paul and Steve go running past Lucy and Emilia on the way to cabs. Adam and Dane fail the dance.

James and Sarah get the dance, but the city names get them too. James says he's appreciative of Sarah shutting up.

We have our first sighting of Sue and Teresa Approved Brand Hippie Chick Aura Spray (TM) as they lament the difficulty of language.

Sticky and Sam get the dance well.

They breeze through the dialogue as well, and they're out of there in first place, making their way to the next Pit Stop- The Qutub Minar, one of the oldest Islamic shrines in India. The last team to check in may be eliminated.

Sue and Teresa try again. Coutzy prays they fail to prove that aura spray (TM) wrong, but they succeed, so my cries of Told You So! must wait another week, at least.

Sticky and Sam have left and found a cab at the same time as The Hippie Chicks.

Michell and Jo have no worries about the dance, and blow through the script as well.

Ross is busy congratulating everybody, even as his dance goes pear shaped.

Adam and Dane, Kym and Donna and Ross and Tarryn all finish one after the other.

Michelle and Jo have a good driver, and look back in the hunt.

Sticky and Sam have talked their way through a security gate, which proves crucial as they edge out the Cheerleaders for first place.

They've won a trip to this years Japan Moto GP courtesy of Honda. After the race, they'll get VIP access with the Honda team and the prize is worth 10,000 dollars.

Sticky sees this as proving himself to the rest of the competition.

Michelle and Jo check in second, and their impressive run continues.

Ross and Tarryn decide a train is the best bet, and they offer to buy train tickets.

Unfortunately, they are on the wrong train line so the cousins tell them to just take a cab and go.

And we're back.

Adam and Dane are still struggling for ideas, but have decided to sell their items for cab fare. (That's against the rules, for those of you playing at home)

The sisters are dancing, and they are rocking through the script, using their experience as language teachers to their advantage.

Paul and Steve have moved through reasonably well.

In a tight race for third and fourth, Sue and Teresa edge out Ross and Tarryn.

The Cops are dancing, and can tell the judge isn't impressed at all.

Joseph and Grace have got it and are out of there in 9th.

Lucy and Emilia are struggling to find the Pit Stop, just wandering the streets in India.

Hunners Chick are finally through the script on their 3rd attempt and out in 10th, so it's just the cops left at the dancing task.

They get through the dance and script, so they're still in the hunt.

Paul and Steve have made a nice comeback and landed in 5th. Kym and Donna are up in 6th.

Adam and Dane hit the mat. And Grant informs them that he can't check them in.

Ad break.

And back.

Adam and Dane can't be checked in because they sold personal items. They have to serve a 30 minute time penalty.

They come to the conclusion that they had to do it anyway because they wouldn't have reached the Pit Stop without it.

The cops hit the mat in 7th place.

James and Sarah and Joseph and Grace are running for it. Hunners Chick is passed easily, so the brother/sister combo will be 8th, Hunners are sliding in for 9th.

3 minutes left of Adam and Dane's penalty, and Lucy and Emilia have arrived to be 10th.

The sisters can't believe they managed to come in at Not Last. Grant tells them they have only just made it.

Adam and Dane are last, and eliminated from the race. So much for the indigenous team that they spent so long searing for.

Their final speech touches on being proud of their heritage.

Next time, teams head to Jaipur, and an Indian driving test pushes teams to the limit.

And when the race hits the streets, what will happen when two teams cross?

In that shot, Kym and Donna get a few pots knocked off a cart they are transporting as Paul turns. His backpack inadvertently displaces a few.

The Clive Peters Play of the Day!
This one goes to the generally pretty awesome leg that Michelle and Jo ran. Leaving 10th and a long way in arrears and moving all the way up to 2nd place is a huge effort.

Muppet of the Week!
I really wanted to give it to Adam and Dane, but I think that the honours have to go to Lucy and Emilia. This makes 2 weeks in a row they've helped Paul and Steve through a task, and I let it slide last week because they didn't do it deliberately, but telling a team that a) You don't like and b) Are among the biggest physical threats in the competition is just dumb.

Heel Moment of the Week!
Gotta give it to Sarah this week for her world class Water Dummy Spit, and Tuk-Tuk Dummy Spit.

Congratulations, You Just Made Youtube
Tough to say on this one, but I think if any moment has a chance to go viral, it will probably be Adam and Dane's horrendous blunder for cab fare.

The Andrew and Dan Trophy for Most Underwhelming Team to Make It
Lucy and Emilia are doing a really great job of not getting eliminated every week. Could they possibly finish in the worst possible spot that avoids elimination every week?

This reporter says a pretty loud: No. No, they won't.

On the Hairdressers, I feel like placing them in the Final 6 or 5 where they lose out of a breakdown à la Mary & Peach

I meant that they survived the second leg in contrast with Ann Marie and Tracy who were eliminated in this same leg. How is that a spoiler?

Coutzy,

Your commentary on ARAus2 is excellent. I do have an issue to raise, how teams got from Mosboron Beach back to Manila. There is no way they took the long-distance buses back. They must have flown out of Legazpi airport to Manila. There were 6 flights from 8am to about 4 pm. It is 45 minutes taxi from Mosboron to Legazpi. The 625 pm plane from Manila was accurate, so teams did not have time to take the bus and get to Manila airport.

A minor additional piece of information that has come to my attention is that the Manila to Bangkok 625pm flight was the same PR752 which also went on from Bangkok to New Delhi.

An addition to your information on AR18 being the one where the dungcake happened (which is true) is that years earlier ARA1, ep. 10 had the first instance of this type of task.

Very possible. Details often get missed because of the difficulty in keeping up with the show as it happens. If you look closely, some teams completely vanish from my rader for a while before magically turning up at tasks or a Pit Stop.

The Amazing Race Australia- Episode Three

Full Title: "If The Sisters Hang On For Another Leg, I'll Eat My Hat"

Watch For:

-Aura Spray  :groan:
-The Cheerleaders to be impressive in the face of adversity once again. If there's an entire leg that doesn't involve luck or eating, watch out.
-The sisters to come last. I can't see any conceivable way that they can come Not Last unless one of the tasks is to move slowly (Sadly, I think Hunners Chick has them covered on this aspect as well.)
-More hate for racers whose only crime is wanting to win more than anybody else.

Here we go:

Previously on The Amazing Race Australia:

As the race reached India dating couple James and Sarah reached boiling point

Flatmates Sticky and Sam had their biggest test yet, but bounced back to triumph against the odds, while cousins Adam and Dane were out of cash and out of luck

Tonight

The race hits the streets and a run in with Paul and Steve leaves Kym and Donna reeling.

10 teams remain, who will be eliminated next?

During the Pit Stop, teams were transported from Dehli to Jaipur

On the edge of the Great Indian Desert, Jaipur is known as the Pink City. It is the starting point of the 3rd leg.

Sticky and Sam depart at 9 AM

Travel by Auto Rickshaw to the Red Elephant Temple.

Sticky: I'd say there's gonna be elephants there
Sam: Red ones?

Cheerleaders depart at 9:02 AM, talk about their special connection and the advantage of it.

Sticky and Sam are having a bit of difficulty with their driver, he went the wrong way.

Hippies and Footballer's Daughters leave at 9:34 AM, Ross is not prepared to accept second best, and wants Tarryn to be more competetive.

The Cheerleaders are at the temple, where they've had to take their shoes off. They received a blessing from a Hindi priest.

ROADBLOCK: Who is a fast learner?

In this Roadblock, one team member must pass an Indian Driving Test (Hello TAR 10)
Title: Re: Coutzy's Commentaries on AusTAR 2! Episode 3 coming on page 4
Post by: Coutzy on June 13, 2012, 06:24:16 AM
Michelle is doing the task.

The girls are worried, Michelle only learned how to drive stick 2 weeks prior to the race.

Sticky is also going to do the task.

The Hippie Chicks feel "at home" in India.

Ross and Teresa are off to do the task, but thankfully no Aura Spray (TM) yet

Kym and Donna and Paul and Steve depart at 9:39 and 9:40 AM

Paul is here to win at all costs, but feels that if any team knew that it would work against them.

Cops depart at 9:46 AM and lament their bad taxi luck, but are happy that they have been able to make it up at challenges.

Kym and Paul are going to do the Roadblock, and the Cops have had another bad cabbie.

Jo and Grace and Hunners Chick depart at 9:54 AM

The brother/sister combo feel their relationship is getting stronger, but Hunners Chick have passed them up in the cab.

HC is flashing Jo and Grace's driver to try and distract him.

The Sisters depart at 10:04 AM for the first of what I am sure is several Last Place subtitles.

Michelle is inside the driving school and has gone through the road signs, she is now doing the practical. She is freaking out a bit.

Grace is at the temple, and spending her time dancing instead of getting clues, much to the Chagrin of Joseph.

Sticky is having no trouble with the stickshift, and Sam knows that anything he can do, Sticky can do.

Sticky offers the completion to the saying and Sam shakes his head. I like these guys.

Hippie the First and Footballer are in the testing room, now out on the streets.

Hippie the Second is backseat driving pretty badly, and Hippie the First wants her to stop talking. The Aura Cleansing Spray (TM) does many many laps of the cab.

Sticky can't believe all the traffic, and he's had a crash.

Ad break.

We're back

During the break, Lite n Easy promised to make me thinner. I continued drinking my pepsi and eating my chips.

Sticky has crashed, and the other driver just left so they'll continue on.

Michelle has passed her test and gets the clue.

ROUTE INFO: Stack and Deliver 75 pots and deliver them to the other end of the market to receive their next clue. If teams break more than 15 pots, they will receive a penalty.

Sticky has got the next clue, despite his bingle, and they're stacking pots with the Cheerleaders.

Kym is out on the road, and Hippie the First has the next clue.

They are stacking pots in a different way to the rest.

Footballer's Daughters have the next clue and are also stacking pots now.

Paul is out on the road and is having a bit of trouble. He's stalled twice. Make that three times.

Hunners Chick, Sisters and GraJo are in the testing room, and the Cops are on the road.

Paul has caught Kym en route, and they're starting a drag race, which Paul promptly stalls in.

Kym takes his time to get moving and breezes by.

The Cheerleaders are learning how to drive an Ox (Take notes, Colin) and they are moving.

Michelle and Jo move off quickly and lose a heap of pots.

Sticky and Sam follow suit.

Hunners Chick, Sisters and Grace are on the road. Hunners Chick has never driven a manual in her life (Another skill my sister has over her)

Grace doesn't have very good driving skills "according to her insurance company"

Hunners Chick is leaning on the horn a lot and seems to be fitting right in with the locals.

Grace is having a nice chat to Joseph in the back seat, and he just wants her to focus on driving.

Michelle and Jo and Sticky and Sam have both broken too many pots and are serving a 15 minute penalty.

Paul has beaten Kym in the drive, and Hippie Chicks have lots about half their pots without even leaving the starting gate.

Ross and Tarryn are moving slowly, but seem ok with pots.

The Hippie Chicks have lost even more pots.

Paul and Steve and Kym and Donna are moving.

Paul stands still and holds his ground, while Kym and Donna run a few pots into his backpack.

Very little actually gets said about it, in the end.

Ad break.

We're back.

Replay of pots breaking.

Kym and Donna claim to be the worst team to cross, but the incident doesn't seem to stop either team from breaking more pots.

Michelle and Jo have their next clue and its another Roadblock: Who is a stairmaster?

The chosen team member must go to a place and use a combination of exactly 47 steps down and 11 steps up (I think) to reach the guru in the middle.

Hunners Chick is stressed through the task and thanks God for botox.

Hippie Chicks get a penalty, and Footballers Daughters have kept enough pots to avoid the penalty.

Hunners Chick is organising the stacking formation, and wants herself and James to take a leaf out of the pot book.

Kym and Donna and Paul and Steve have both got penalties.

Sticky says the well looks like something from a Harry Potter movie with stairs going in all directions. His first try is wrong.

The Cops seem to be going ok with the pots.

Donna and Steve are going to do the Roadblock.

Cops have a penalty, The Sisters are at the ox task and Grace is driving slowly.

Sticky has finished the Roadblock and now they must find the Pit Stop.

Post by: Coutzy on June 13, 2012, 06:51:37 AM
Ross and Tarryn and Michelle and Jo have arrived at the Roadblock dead level. Both have been turned back.

GraJo have passed Hunners Chick and The Sisters by stacking quickly. HC are taking their time to stack them well and not risk the penalty.

Tarryn has completed the task and they're off to the Pit Stop.

Hippie the First is doing this Roadblock as well, and the Aura Cleansing Spray (TM) makes another few laps.

Michelle gets turned around again.

Sticky and Sam worry that Footballers Daughters will catch up.

They don't have enough to cover the cab, and they are pleading with the guy.

Ad break.

We're back.

Sticky and Sam have started begging, while Ross and Tarryn negotiate prices.

Sticky and Sam have reached an agreement with their driver, and they're off to check in in First Place.

They've won a state of the art home entertainment system valued at $5000 from Bing Lee.

They've had 2 wins in a row now and they're stoked about it.

Ross and Tarryn come in for a 2nd place finish.

GraJo are close to the finish of the ox task as the Cops leave for the next Roadblock.

The brother/sister combo avoided the penalty.

Hunners Chick is getting pinched by Indian kids, and while frustrating, it doesn't seem as bad as the kids that are following the Sisters and knocking their pots off.

The Sisters have a 15 minute penalty, and Hunners Chick's stacking method has proved solid, they're away with no penalty.

Donna is having a bit of trouble with the task, and Michelle is finally done.

Hippie Chick the First is having no luck, and she keeps trying to sit at the bottom and turn back on herself to force her count.

Paul feels that as the big mental player, this is the chance to show himself as a big success or a big disappointment.

Kym is trying to tell Steve that Paul knocked off a bunch of their pots.

Paul and Steve are off in 4th place, Kym and Donna in 5th.

The two are off to the Pit Stop right next to each other and Michelle and Jo check in for 3rd.

It's looking more like a footrace to the line for 4th place

We're back

Zuji gets another plug.

The footrace for 4th is a complete non event as Kym and Donna get 4th with no Paul and Steve in sight, who come in for 5th later.

The Cops are at the Roadblock as Hippie the First continues to struggle.

The Sisters have sat out their penalty and are off to the Roadblock.

James is in the Roadblock, and loves the look of the place, but isn't having a lot of success.

Plain Clothes Cops are out of there, though they feel like it was a bit of a fluke.

Hippie the First continues to struggle, and Joseph is starting the task, and he gets it on the first attempt.

Teresa is having trouble watching Sue struggle, and the first cracks are starting to show in their relationship.

James is done with the task, so he and Hunners Chick will be off to the Pit Stop.

Jo and Grace are right behind the Plain Clothes Cops, and have passed them up. They've disappeared from the Cop's view, but can't find the entrance, which Shane and Andrew spot with no trouble, so they'll come in at 6th, GraJo behind for 7th.

Hunners Chick and Toy Boy come in for 8th.

It's down to Hippie Chick and The Sisters.

Sue claims she's been up and down 30 or 40 times.

The Sisters have been turned back on the first attempt, and Hippie the First has been turned back again.

Ad break.

We're back

Zuji gets another plug.

The sisters are still battling with the Hippie Chicks.

The Sisters have the next clue and they're out of there.

There's one last hug for Hippie the Second and the sisters get going.

It's another few laps for the Aura Cleansing Spray (TM) and they have the clue, and refusing to give up.

The sisters are preparing for a final sprint.

The sisters come in at 9th, defying all predictions and come in for Not Last once again.

Hippie Chicks hit the mat in last, and they are eliminated.

The girls will depart with a smile, they feel that the race has heightened their friendship, and are happy that they saw India.

Next time its a race through the desert of Dubai.

Sarah tells Paul he has rocks in his head, and The Sisters get arrested.

We are promised that one team won't make it to the Pit Stop.

That right there is what we call the placebo effect, mixed in with a healthy dose of confirmation bias.

Basically, because they *think* it is going to help them, the spray does help them relax, and being relaxed in turn helps them with making decisions and doing mental puzzles.

Confirmation bias is something that effects all people. The human brain is naturally wired to suppress data we find unfavorable, so anyone who falls on the side of believing the Aura Spray (TM) works will remember all the times it has, and those who believe it does not work will remember all the times it did not.

In short, we are more likely to remember things that fit in with what we want to believe.

Jaipur, the exotic capital of Rajistan is known as India's Pink City

Nahagit (sp?) Fort is the 3rd Pit STop

STicky and Sam depart at 1:37 PM

Fly to Dubai

Teams must now travel to Dehli then fly to the desert metropolis of Dubai, in the UAE.

Once in Dubai teams must search the airport carport for their next clue.

Before departing, teams must vote in the U-Turn.

Sticky and Sam U-Turn Paul and Steve, noting they are a strong team but they don't like them.

Ross and Tarryn depart at 1:39 PM and vote Paul and Steve as well.

Teams are hitting travel agents, consistent with the rule on the US edition about international flights.

Sam says that Sticky's arm won't effect them, but I smell foreshadowing.

Twins leave a 1:44 PM and choose to U-Turn (guess who) Paul and Steve.

Kym and Donna leave at 2:10 and vote the boofheads.

Paul and Steve depart at 2:12 and vote Sticky and Sam (At least their cries of "They're a strong team!" are founded in results)

The Cops depart and vote Paul and Steve.

Paul is arguing with taxi people and putting on his macho stance.

Kym and Donna overpay their cab.

GraJo votes Paul and Steve.

Sarah and James vote to U-Turn Lucy and Emilia, because that's the only team behind them.

The Sisters depart and vote the cops.

Notably, Sarah's "Rocks in your head" comment comes out, but it's directed at James, who wants to pay 400 for a cab, when the driver has offered 310.

Everyone is bunched on a train to Dehli, and getting taxis to the airport. 6 teams will arrive in Dubai at 6:10 AM.

Paul and Steve, Lucy and Emilia and Ross & Tarryn will connect through Mumbai and arrive at 8:15 AM.

Post by: Coutzy on June 20, 2012, 06:22:47 AM
The 6:10 AM flight is on the ground.

GraJo is first to the clue.

DETOUR: Teams must drive 90 kilomiters to the Al Paca desert and choose between Dune Bash and Camel Dash.

In Camel Dash, teams must ride a camel around a short course and retrieve 4 flags.

In Dune Bash, teams must drive Dune Buggies through the desert around a 10 km course.

Teams are a little thrown by having to drive on the right hand side, but the dune buggies seems to be the consensus, although the cops choose the camels.

Grace speaks a little bit of Arabic, and uses it to get directions, and directions seem to be a very valuable commodity in the desert.

Joseph says he couldn't resist the temptation of driving the dune buggies, even if it meant possibly getting bogged.

Michelle and Jo arrive and choose the camels. They are getting some instruction, and their camel is up, and back down again. And up. And back down again. I hope they don't get seasick.

The girls stick at this for a moment and switch.

Grace nudges the gearstick with her thigh and puts their buggy in neutral and the stop causes them to sink into the sand, bogging them.
Title: Re: Coutzy's Commentaries on AusTAR 2! Episode 4 coming on page 5

Ad break over.

Joseph and Grace are collecting rocks and trying to put them under the wheels to gain traction. Or rather, Joe is while Grace lays down on the dunes to make a sand angel.

I hope Kym and Donna and Michelle and Jo, who have just left, run her over for her hubris.

Michelle and Jo aren't going to achieve that, they're bogged and having a good yell about it.

Grace tells Jo to stop showing off, because there's no hot girls around to show off to. Well, there's Grace, but that's his sister.

A Landrover hauls them out in time for Jo and Grace to finish the task first, with Kym and Donna right behind.

The cops are following someone to the detour and complaining about how fast he's going.

Teams must next head to the Wild Wadi Water Park (TAR 5?) and surf their way to the front to grab their next clue, but first they must check in at the U-Turn board.

Paul and Steve are U-Turned, courtesy of 6 teams.

The cops are having a pretty easy time of their camel. He's moving, but he doesn't seem too keen on turning.

Sticky and Sam have started their buggy, and the cheerleaders are still bogged.

The girls ask for help, and Sam offers a frank "Good luck" before getting bogged himself. I wouldn't have stopped, because they probably would have bogged too if they stopped.

James is driving too fast for Sarah's liking, so she pulls his goggles off.

Second plane is on the ground.

All three on the second flight go for Dune Bash, and Paul suspects they're tied for last.

The cops have decided they've had enough of their camel, and switch. Michelle and Jo have de-bogged and blown past Sticky and Sam to finish the task.

Grace is liking the boogie boards, and Joseph is falling off a lot, but he gets the clue.

Teams must now drive to a racecourse and pick a winning horse from today's racing. If teams fail to pick a winner, they must carry their teammate across the finish line.

Kym and Donna are having directional difficulty, and then their tire blows out and Donna gives us a good long bleep.

Ad break.

We're back.

The cops are starting their buggy. They know they're going to have to really hurt the car to get it going, but they give it a good go.

Sticky and Sam get out of the sand, and then get bogged again.

James and Sarah are done with the buggy.

It turns out Kym clipped the curb and blew out their tyre, and they've revealed they had no money to buy a map. Tension is really starting to get the best of them.

Michelle and Jo find the screams from inside the water park a bit disturbing, but it can't have been that bad because Michelle (Or Jo) gets it on her first try.

Joseph decides he's going to take charge of the horseracing.

They've picked numbers 7 & 5 for race 1. Their horses come in 2nd and dead last, and Joseph worries that everyone will be there in time to catch Race 2.

The three on the back flight are at the Detour. Ross offends a few Christians with his cry of "Jesus Christ" as he goes around, and the sisters are taking their usual slow and steady approach, which gets them bogged quickly.

Sticky and Sam are back unbogged, and Sticky asks is he's allowed to drive. Turns out he is, and he gets it done with no trouble, the cops right behind them.

Sarah is at the water park, and at least this time it's appropriate to be wearing something small.

James and Kym both get the clue with ease, and head off to the races.

Michelle and Jo arrive, and feel underdressed for such an event because they aren't wearing fascinators or nice dresses.

Michelle and Jo are channeling the pink, which leads them to number 9. Both teams in race 2 have picked wrong.

Paul and Steve get nearly bogged, but push through to finish the task. Ross and Tarryn are making it through alright.

Paul and Steve have met their U-Turn. Paul is flattered that 6 of the 9 teams voted for them. (Keep going mate, I'm quite sure it'll happen again later.)

The sisters have bogged themselves again, and Paul and Steve are starting off the camels, with great difficulty.

Ad break.

We're back.

The sisters are still bogged, and noticing the sun is starting to go down. Emilia has sand in places where she never thought you could get sand.

Paul and Steve have got their camel moving, and have got three flags before the camel decides its had enough.

Sticky gets a clue first try, as does Shane.

The cops like the sound of a horseracing task.

James and Sarah have arrived in time for race three, and have gone for a blind guess. No teams have gotten in for that one, at which point Michelle (Or Jo) reveals that there are only 5 races in the day.

Steve is trying to sweet talk their camel into behaving and it works, so they're out of the task in the crucial spot of Not Last.

The sisters have also finished their task, and they'll be off.

Tarryn grabs a clue on first attempt, and Ross decides they're not leaving until he has a turn.

Shane and Andrew are clueless on where to go, but pull in the long arm of the law to get directions, and they even get an escort to the track.

Ross and Tarryn are also struggling with navigation, and Ross isn't keen on asking someone.

Kym and Donna are still driving in circles, and they've cracked a good old hissy fit, and it looks like they're refusing to go anywhere for the moment, but we'll find out more after the ad break.

Post by: Coutzy on June 20, 2012, 07:08:55 AM
We're back

Kym and Donna are still not wanting to go on.

Sticky and Sam say they bet on the horses a lot.

Three teams pick number 8, Michelle and Jo go for number 3

The cops are not hurrying for their pick, but get 6 and 9 in on time.

Number 8 takes the victory, and that means that James and Sarah, GraJo and Sticky and Sam will move on to the Pit Stop: A helipad in the shadow of the Burj.

GraJo's car doesn't seem to want to go anywhere. Joseph left the lights on so their battery is dead.

James and Sarah are making moves on the road to try and beat Sticky and Sam, but they've gone different directions to the tower, so it'll come down to that.

Paul and Steve have done the bodyboarding easily, they're out of there before the sisters arrive.

The sisters are trying hard, but struggling. Lucy picks one up eventually and they're off to the racecourse.

Ross and Tarryn still can't find the place.

Steve wants to hire a cab to lead them, but interestingly, Paul says they're not allowed to.

Joseph and Grace have found help from a guy called Mohammed (Not from season 1) and they've left.

Michelle and Jo have picked a winner in race 5 and they'll head off.

The final dash to the mat is on, and it's Hunners Chick that comes in for first place!

They've won an adrenaline packed NZ Holiday in the action capital of the world, Queenstown. They've got that from Pump water, and note that perhaps being nice to each other paid off.

The cops are picking numbers for the last race of the day. They've picked wrong, so it's piggybacking for them.

GraJo check in for third, and Michelle and Jo take fourth.

The cops are struggling through the carrying, but they get done and they're headed for the Pit Stop.

Kym and Donna are feeling burnt out, and Lucy and Emilia are still struggling, and they've driven their car right into the palace.

They've had their passports and drivers licenses confiscated, and taken to a police station, and it looks like they're not supposed to be filming either. The camera is at a very strange angle.

During the break, we're told to remember our hunners as we move over to the new Monday night timeslot. So helpful.

But we're back now.

Lucy and Emilia are trying to find the lighter side of being arrested, and Ross and Tarryn have arrived at the track and gone straight for the carry because they're too late for any races.

Paul and Steve are now carrying, and done.

The Cops hit the mat for 5th place.

The sisters have been released, and Lucy notes that its a typical Friday night for them.

Paul and Steve check in 6th, and Steve can't believe it. Are they the first team to survive a solo U-Turn?

Ross and Tarryn come in for 7th and can't believe it either.

Lucy and Emilia are really struggling with the carrying, but there's no sign of Kym and Donna either.

The girls finish their carrying amongst loads of laughs.

Kym and Donna have still had enough, so the sisters will defy the odds once again to finish Not Last once again.

When Grant tells them the news, all they can do is stare at him.

Kym and Donna are refusing to move, so Grant will go out on the field to eliminate them.

They have noted that they tried for hours to find the next task, and decided they couldn't do it (Which makes it officially quitting)

Grant has informed them that they're eliminated.

"U-Turning the sisters? Really?"

That is a much more strategic use of a U-Turn than all the other teams who just voted against a team they do not like. I applaud James and Sarah for their trying it that way. A U-turn on Paul and Steve could have taken them out totally if they were unable to ride the camel as other teams could not, but it had almost no impact as they did what no other team could do.

I regard it as a heel move because they are a very likeable team and, considering their penchant for finishing last or second last each leg, they pose zero threat.

In my opinion, the only people who used the U-Turn wisely were The Cops, who voted for Sticky and Sam. Everyone else voted for a team that has been languishing at the back of the pack the whole race.

In all actuality, none of the U-Turn stuff mattered. Much like when TAR 10 went to Kuwait, it all came down to simply finding the places they were supposed to go.

Tonight, have team rivalries gone too far?

And more than one team will struggle to finish the leg. 8 teams remain, who will be eliminated next?

Post by: Coutzy on June 25, 2012, 04:48:19 AM
Dubai has transformed itself from a small shipping port to an expanding global city, in the heart of downtown Dubai, teams will depart.

James and Sarah depart at 5:47 AM, and must make their way to a marina, then await for the docking of the Dubai Pearl. Once it docks they must find the skipper to find their next clue. I smell a time waster.

Sarah feels that their previous win will show that she's got a brain behind her hair and make up.

Sticky and Sam depart at 5:59 AM, GraJo depart at 6:09 AM

Grace feels she needs to learn to shut her mouth and let Joseph do the talking.

Sarah and James are at the marina and have found out that Dubai Pearl will dock at 9:30, so they're going to find extra information.

Michelle and Jo depart at 6:10 AM, and it's significantly lighter out than when GraJo checked in. I smell a rat there.

The team that doesn't mean any 'arm and GraJo are at the Marina, along with The Cheerleader Twins.

James has told the other teams about the 9:30 docking time, which Sarah feels that they shouldn't have shared, so they're off arguing about Sarah being overdramatic, and James being too easy going.

Notably, they put on bright smiles and say good morning to a passer by.

Shane and Andrew depart at 7:04 AM, and are frustrated by bad taxis because they are used to being the ones in control.

There's a bit of confusion with their cab driver who isn't sure whether they want the Dubai Marina or the Beach Hotel Marina (That they're supposed to be at)

Paul and Steve depart and whinge about U-Turns. Paul says it's time for Evil Paul to come out, which happens to be the same as Sexy Paul and Normal Paul (Dunno about Sexy Paul, but I see the Normal Paul bit)

Ross and Tarryn have departed, and as expected, the cops are at the wrong marina. Shane doesn't want to pay the cabbie, and it seems that they don't, since he's driven off.

Evilpaul and Steve are at the Marina, and the other teams have noticed that the cops should have arrived before them.

The others start messing with Evilpaul and Steve, who are wondering if they're supposed to do something before they wait (Smart move.) The other teams are being very helpful in their repetitions of read the clue, especially Grace.

Evilpaul goes on a bit of a speech about bullies, and the fact that he had a bit of a weight problem growing up.

Grace keeps niggling at Paul, and he tells her he's not interested in speaking to her.

When the boat arrives, Paul is the clear winner to the skipper, and it's a Detour: Count em up or Price em up.

In Count em up, teams must count out a stack of dried limes (Hint: Don't do this one)

In Price em up- Teams must make their way to a marked jewellry store and arrange 7 pieces of jewellry from cheapest to most expensive.

All the teams are off at pretty much the same time. Paul and Grace each have a whinge about the other. GraJo are thinking they should push Evilpaul's buttons more often.

Paul talks more about bullies and his time in high school, and we go to an ad break.
Title: Re: Coutzy's Commentaries on AusTAR 2! Episode 5 coming on page 6
Post by: Coutzy on June 25, 2012, 04:59:38 AM
And we're back.

My previous bit about all teams heading off was erroneous. Lucy and Emilia have just departed at 9:42 AM.

Their cabbie wants to take them to the Dubai Pearl building, which leaves the sister wondering how they're going to wait for it.

James is talking strategy with Sarah about marker limes, which Sarah rightfully declares is dumb.

The cheerleaders are first to the limes. James and Sarah and GraJo right behind.

All teams except the sisters and Sticky and Sam are at the counting. Ross finds the others vocally counting very distracting. Paul and Michelle are also complaining about the cops making noise.

Michelle and Jo guess 1513, and are wrong.

Sticky and Sam can't find the lime stall, so they've told their cabbie to go to the jewellrey store, which they've found quickly.

They lament that their only experience in the field is buying things for their ex-girlfriends.

Sam asks for a magnifier to look closer, and promptly asks which way it's supposed to go.

James and Sarah's guess of 1214 is wrong, so they'll try it Sarah's way instead of James' way.

Evilpaul the accountant talks about his IQ putting him in the top 2% of the country and they get it right and they'll  move on to deal with the Anonymous U-Turn that is head.

The cops are also out and off to the U-Turn.

EvilPaul and Steve have to go back to their cab and get their bags, but The Cops don't. They can see each other and are footracing to the U-Turn.

Ad break.
Title: Re: Coutzy's Commentaries on AusTAR 2! Episode 5 coming on page 6
Post by: Coutzy on June 25, 2012, 05:16:56 AM
And we're back

The cops and EvilPaul and Steve are still footracing.

The Cops have U-Turned EvilPaul and Steve, with the boys right behind them. The way things are going they'll be the most U-Turned team in history.

Paul has a speech about how 5th is their best finish, and its a bit cowardly (Not to mention bloody stupid) to U-Turn them for purely social reasons.

The Cops move on and they have to fly to Istanbul, Turkey as Evilpaul and Steve head off to Price Em Up.

Michelle and Jo recount the exact same number, and decide to pick the number 1 less than their first guess, and it turns out it's correct.

Steve says he has a few bits of bling and makes quick work of the task. His first guess is wrong, but he moves 1 item and gets it right, blowing past Sticky and Sam. By Paul's estimation, the U-Turn set them back 10 minutes, if that.

Sticky and Sam finish the task, and Michelle and Jo get their flight clue.

Paul and Steve have recovered and gotten the clue in 3rd place.

Ross and Tarryn have their second guess of 1496, which is correct.

Michelle and Jo have an Emirates timetable, and have found a 2:50 PM direct flight to Istanbul, which they book by phone.

The sisters have arrived at the limes while GraJo and Hunners Chick are still counting.

Sarah increases the volume to try and put the other teams off. She calls it a tacic, and James calles it a dirty tactic.

GraJo have got it wrong on their next try. Grace suggests that the judge is wrong instead.

Paul and Steve have beaten the cops to the airport.

Shane and Andrew want to speak to Paul and Steve and tell them why they did it. Paul is not interested in them feeling sorry for it after they've watched it backfire.

Sarah tries the Grace tactic and tells the judge he's wrong. He must get tired of that.

GraJo have finished their task.

Hunners Chick have switched, and she promptly gets distracted by the shinies, trying them on.

The sisters hit the correct number and they're off.

GraJo pass the U-Turn, and Grace spends some time dancing with the U-Turn sign, completely forgetting that she hasn't seen Paul at either task.

Hunners Chick are out of the jewellery task in last place, they're worried that everyone is in Turkey already.

The direct flight that the twins picked up was delayed, so every team has made it on, they'll arrive at 6:55 PM

Scramble out of the airport and Paul and Steve are first to a cab, and their having a good old road race with GraJo.

Lucy and Emilia put in a pretty strong showing for it.

Paul turns as Steve yells out to him, and wouldn't you know it- Grace gets a hit from his backpack, sending her reeling.

Grace yells and screams at him, calls him an idiot and asks if he is really that threatened by her.

We cut to an ad break as Lucy and Emilia try to keep the peace.
Title: Re: Coutzy's Commentaries on AusTAR 2! Episode 5 coming on page 6

We're back.

Lucy (or Emilia) says she didn't see Paul intentionally do anything, the cheerleaders comment that it didn't come across well.

We're at a Roadblock: Teams must make their way to Hagia Sophia, which was originally built as a Christian Church, before being converted to a Muslim Mosque.

The chosen team member must memorise 8 symbols inside the mosque, then replace them correctly to receive their next clue.

Teams may only go back to the mosque once to check answers.

Paul is first to try inside the answer area, which is inundated with water, and teams have to wear boots to keep leeches away.

Sarah is recalling a little song in her head to help her.

Paul seems pretty confident as he goes through.

Grace's first try is wrong, so she's going back to rememorize.

Paul hopes he can live up to his bragging, and he's got it all correct which proves the old adage: It's not showing off if you back it up.

Teams must now make their way to the Pit Stop and are told on the clue "Do not delay"

Grant tells us in the footage that the last team may be eliminated, but I'm still calling a double leg.

Michelle and Jo are also finished. Paul is desperate for a first place finish, Michelle and Jo have found a sign to point them in the right direction.

Ad break.

And we're back. Zuji gets a plug, but they couldn't find a flight I wanted last night.

Paul and Steve arrive first, and as winners of this leg, they've won an action packed trip to the Australian Rally Championship. They'll ride alongside Honda's team and have VIP access to the Pit.

Paul feels good about being U-Turned, and making a comeback from 6th to first, but more importantly aren't told to move on.

Michelle and Jo are checked in 2nd.

Ross doesn't even get close.

Sticky has about half his done.

Andrew is wrong.

Sarah is still chanting as she works through.

Grace is 100% sure on her second effort, and she and Sam are correct, they'll move in 3rd and 4th.

Andrew is correct on his 2nd effort, they're off in 5th.

Ross is even more wrong on his second try, and Lucy is wrong too. Sarah has 3 wrong on her first try.

Sticky and Sam have outran GraJo easily for 3rd spot, GraJo in 4th.

The Cops job in for 5th.

Lucy tries again for no result.

Ross is getting even further away from the result and is telling Tarryn that he can't do it.

We get an ad break as these two ponder the penalty.

We're back.

Sarah is wrong. James knows his penalty strategy and suggests that Sarah take a penalty now, believing that Ross or Lucy will also take one.

Sarah has declared her intention to take the penalty and they've taken their clue.

Lucy has got it right and they're off to the Pit Stop.

Hunners Chick hits the mat, and their penalty time starts.

Ross is still struggling and nowhere near it. He chooses the four hour penalty waaaaaaay too late for my liking.

Lucy and Emilia come in for a record finish of 2 places above last, well over their customary 1 place above last.

Ross and Tarryn reach the mat and James and Sarah look horrified.

Sarah's face screams relief as Grant informs Footballer's Daughters of their penalty. They're checked in 7th place.

Ross and Tarryn hit 8th place, but it's a pre-determined non elimination round, so they'll be Marked for Elimination the next leg.

Next time the teams are getting steamy on the most surprising leg yet, one false step could cost one team everything. At this point, we see Michelle (or Jo) struggling to breathe.

Clive Peters Play of the Day
-Hands down Paul and Steve for their fantastic leg. They were at the top of the pack from start to finish and getting back ahead of the Team the U-Turned you before the next clue is just plain awesome.

Muppet of the Week
Ross, for taking too long to decide he wasn't going to get the puzzle right.

Heel Moment of the Week
This week I'm splitting the honors between Grace and Evilpaul the Accountant. I don't know why she thinks she's so much better than him after she was the main instigator in the "Let's mess with Paul" game, and Paul could have probably handled it better than to throw a hissy fit.

Congratulations, You Just Made Youtube
Paul and Grace split another award. This time, for Backpack Wars.

The Fran and Barry "Well that was unexpected" Award
Lucy and Emilia for their unexpected completely out of the blue 6th place finish. I thought for sure they were bound for a 7th place finish, until Grant said it was a non elimination leg, when I thought for sure they'd find a way to last.

The twins have been impressing me a lot so far. Before the season started I had them written off for a low finish but they have surprised me with their skills when it comes to non-luck tasks. It seems that luck has doomed them in a lot of legs to this point but they've managed to race well in most tasks to push through it.

However, I don't think this is the leg it's all going to come together for them.

Father and Daughter Ross & Tarryn couldn't complete the Roadblock, but escaped elimination.

8 teams remain, who will be eliminated tonight?

Istanbul, Turkey. This 2.5 thousand year old city straddles Europe and Asia, and was once the capital of the Ottoman Empire.

Paul and Steve depart at 9:59 AM and must make their way to a traditional Turkish Bath built in the 16th century. Teams must wash and scrub each other with a bar of soap until it reveals their next clue.

Paul and Steve don't seem too keen on scrubbing each other. Paul describes washing Steve's armpits as rather awkward.

Michelle and Jo depart 10:32 AM and talk about how Paul has rubbed almost every competetor the wrong way.

Paul and Steve has come up with a novel idea. They decide that Grace and Jo will probably have the most discomfort, and they've revealed the Detour: Shine or Design?

Shine- Locate marked shoe shine stalls and convince 10 customers to have their shoes shined for no less than 4 Lire each.

In Design, they must find a marked carpet stall and take a photo of an exotic Turkish pattern, then find a perfect match among the carpets to get their next clue.

Before they go to the Detour, they will face the Yield.

Paul and Steve fret for a bit over who to Yield and Michelle and Jo enter the bath in their smalls, much to the delight of the red blooded males in the audience.

Michelle offers that several people probably have fantasies about Cheerleader Twins rubbing each other.

Sticky & Sam and Grace and Jo depart at 10:51 AM

Sam enters the bath and upon seeing Michelle and Jo offers "Woah!" then asks them to do it a bit slower. They also offer to swap partners.

Grace finds the soaping very relaxing, Jo thinks its awkward.

Paul and Steve are at the Yield and choose to Yield Michelle and Jo and there's an interesting continuity moment when Steve puts their CO picture up, then it's suddenly gone again. In the meantime their at the shoe shine. They're struggling to attract customers.

Shane and Andrew depart 11:01, Lucy and Emilia 11:24 AM

The Cops discuss their families and how much they miss them. I smell a loved ones task.

Steve has found two customers, and Paul says he has the Used Car Salesman in him.

Michelle and Jo are done with their soap. They have a bad feeling that they'll be Yielded.

The Sisters are at the bath and feel significantly more confident now. Then they laugh.

Shane and Andrew say that they're at least not soaping their sister. Grace argues about Jo not doing her toes, claiming that she did his whole body. Jo says she's a sucker.

Sticky and Sam, JoGrace and The Cops are done with their soaps.

The CHeerleaders are at the Yield and as expected, they stand around looking pissy. Michelle (Or Jo) calls them stupid then says they hate it when people play dirty.

Ad break.

This incident sums up people on the race a lot for me. Michelle and Jo were happy to have a giggle when Paul and Steve got U-Turned, but when they've been Yielded all of a sudden it's playing dirty? Whether you love or hate the U-Turns and Yields, you have to stick with one. You're not allowed to hate a race mechanic because it went against your favourite team. That would be like hating teams having to drive themselves because Debbie and Bianca got themselves lost. Hate Paul and Steve if you like, but hate them because they chose to Yield your favourite team. Don't hate the Yield itself (Unless of course, you hate the entire concept of the Yield, in which case go nuts.)

The same goes for smart vs. stupid use of these powers. Just because they used it on your favourite team doesn't make it the worst use of it ever. Conversely, using it on a team you hate doesn't make it smart use of the power.

We're back.

The Cops and Sticky and Sam have gone to the carpets.

Shane and Andrew have chosen a simple design, Sticky and Sam have gone for one slightly more complicated. The Cops have declared it like a needle in a haystack.

Bakc at the baths, Lucy and Emilia are done with the soap and are heading for the shoe shine.

Paul and Steve are done, and will now travel to Rumeli Castle, where they will discover an Intersection inside. (I hate Intersections)

Michelle and Jo's Yield is done and they're off to shine shoes. They think it'll be easy to get male attention, which I would have done with my sister anyway.

Paul and Steve get to the intersection and lament the fact that they Yielded the 2nd place team and forced themselves to wait more.

JoGrace are at the shoe shine, and true to form Grace wants to dance. She doesn't find anyone with that method.

Shane and Andrew find Sticky and Sam's carpet, and immediately tell them that it's theirs. Hello Muppets of the Week.

Sticky and Sam repay the faith and hang around to help the cops.

Michelle and Jo are done with the shoes, and Lucy and Emilia have arrived. Lucy immediately pulls out the good old Aussie saying Cheap as Chips. Good stuff.

STicky and Sam, by their estimation have wasted 30-45 minutes finding Shane and Andrew's carpet. They pick one out but it's wrong, and the cops switch tasks, so St/Sa take their leave.

Grace shines the shoes of a man who has small feet. She makes the inevitable foot size/penis size reference, though a lot less blunt than that.

Lucy and Emilia said they've been waiting for the chance to have a good perv, and they've been very patient, but finally Turkey has deliverd. Lucy says that if she lived in Istanbul, they'd be dating already. She asks for his number, but makes no reference to being in town.

Hunners Chick and Ross and Tarryn depart after 1 PM. Ross laments that he was the one that couldn't do it, but is happy he's competing with James and Sarah over Paul and Steve.

Michelle and Jo are at the Intersection and decide to work with Paul and Steve.

Teams must now enter the castle and break through the line of four Turkish Oil Wrestlers. One of the 4 must get through and take a turkish lamp from off a table. The wrestlers arrive and Steve drops our first uncensored "****!" of the race. Paul says the biggest one there is giving him eyes. The trick here is there's only 3 wrestlers and 4 racers, so if they play distraction, one should be able to get through.

Michelle (Or Jo) sneaks past on the side and gets sandwiched as she nears the table. They are playing decidedly rougher than in TAR 9, that's for sure.

Jo (Or Michelle) grabs the lamp in the resulting chaos, but Michelle (or Jo) is on the ground holding her jaw.

To be clear: Paul did not bowl her over. One of the challenge extras did.

We're back. Michelle as it turns out is still on the ground. The turkish wrestler has accidently given her a good shot across the chops as they've scrambled for the lamp. They open their clues and its a Roadblock.

The chosen team member must find the Whirling Dervishes and spin for 5 minutes continuosly to take their next clue. Michelle feels bad that Jo has to do another one.

Shane and Andrew and JoGrace finish their shoes as The Cops arrive. Shane and Andrew are having the usual difficulty finding people.

Sarah is having far too much fun with the task, and she climbs on James to rub him down. Ross tells them to keep it clean (Hee!) and they're finished and off to the Yield.

The Cops feel like they're back in the police academy with the shoe shining. James and Sarah pick that task.

JoGrace arrive at the U-Turn and choose to work with St/Sa

Shane finishes a mans shoes and takes a moment away from the race to present his 3 year old son with a small Kangaroo, so there's that family thing from before.

Grace declares the wrestlers coming out shirtless as beautiful. Joseph looks more uncomfortable by the second. Apparently Jo has a Jiujitsu background, and it must be true because he tosses his wrestler aside with no trouble to take the lamp.

Steve and Jo are at the Roadblock and learning the dance. Jo is already psyching herself out of the task.

The battle for 7th and 8th is still raging at the Detour, but little do they know it matters for nothing. Ross is remembering shining the shoes of his kids.

Sarah and James have no luck until she starts offering back massages. Steve is looking very focused with his Roadblock. Jo started getting dizzy after 20 seconds and takes a tumble. We get a slow mo of her on the floor to make us believe she's fainted. I am dubious.

Ad break. It's going to snow tonight in the mountains of Victoria.

We're back. Jo isn't sure how or why she fell, but her 5 minutes will start again.

Shane and Andrew arrive at the Intersection and they'll partner Lucy and Emilia

Lucy's strategy is to cuddle the hunk on the end, which admittedly neutralises him pretty well. The cops work together to knock the lamp off the table, then pick it up off the ground so they're done.

Ross has done 7 shoes, and 2 of them won't count because they have to do 5 each.

Steve is finished with the Roadblock, and they'll head to the Pit Stop: Beyazit Square.

Jo is nearing the finish and Michelle says the boys don't deserve it. Jo finishes and hits the deck again. Jo looks like she's about to be sick as they run, and she mentions the curse of Jen. She needs to pee.

Paul and Steve hit the mat first and as the winners of this leg of the race they've won a state of the art computer package from Bing Lee, valued at $5000.

Steve says that most other teams have tried to stop them to no avail, the only team that will stop them is themselves.

Michelle and Jo check in 2nd.

Hunners Chick has a chat with the next shoe guy, turns out he makes socks.

Ross and Tarryn are out of the Detour, James and Sarah still have 5 to do.

Sticky and Jo are spinning. Jo looks like he's hopping in circles, while Sticky's action is decidedly smoother.

Ross and Tarryn get to the Intersection and are very, VERY unhappy that James and Sarah will be granted the catch up opportunity.

Ad break.
Title: Re: Coutzy's Commentaries on AusTAR 2! Episode 6 coming on page 7
Post by: Coutzy on July 02, 2012, 05:33:22 AM
We return again.

James and Sarah are finally done with the shoes. Hunners Chick gets some pronounciation help from their shoe shine guy.

Joseph is done with the spinning, they run past the window as Sticky and Sam finish.

The Cops both claim they're no good at spinning, but that doesn't matter for the moment because their cab has taken them to rhe wrong place.

Emilia will spin, but right now they're just admiring the room.

Grace and Jo hit the Pit Stop in 3rd place. Sticky and Sam not far behind for 4th.

The Cops are in trouble, but finally have directions and are inside, although by their own estimation they look like a broken teapot.

Hunners Chick is finally at the Intersection. Ross blows through all the wrestlers, so they and HC will be off.

Emilia is done with the task, and from the looks of things, they'll be headed for their best finish yet if they can beat Shane and Andrew, who have finished right behind them.

Footballers Daughters have the first cab away from the Intersection, and the Sisters do check in for 5th, the Cops not far back for 6th.

James and Sarah's cab overtakes Ross and Tarryn on the road, so James will start spinning first, Ross will start just behind.

Both are spinning, Ross is determined to do it for Tarryn, and we'll go to an ad break.

We're back.

James is telling himself to put up with it just once for 5 minutes and they'll be done. His mantra has worked and they're off to the Pit Stop. Ross is also done so they'll run off too.

James and Sarah hit the mat in 7th, so they'll live to see another leg.

Ross and Tarryn come up in last place and they've been eliminated and officially have been beaten by the team they saved.

Tarryn wanted to prove to her dad that she was strong and could do things on her own. Ross says that when you set high standards for yourself, you're bound to fail sometimes, so he doesn't mind too much.

Next Time:

Teams fly to Paris and the City of Love becomes the City of Hate. JoGrace steals Hunner's Chick's cab and Grace declares that she wants James and Sarah out of the race. Teams do some self driving and look to really struggle with it. Michelle (Or Jo) claims that her sister has no idea how hard it is to do it.

AWARDS!

The Clive Peters Play of the Day!
Lucy and Emilia get this one. By my estimations they put together the best leg out of any of the teams, although we may never know because of the Intersection messing up any guesses we could make from next legs departure time differentials.

Muppet of the Week!
The Cops. No question. I doubt we'll ever know what possessed them to give their opponents the answer when there wasn't any possible thing for them to get in return at the moment.

Heel Moment of the Week
The Turkish Wrestler that gave Michelle a smack across the chops.

Congratulations, You Just Made You RedTube
They admitted it themselves: The Cheerleader Twins rubbing each other down with soap has to be the winner of this award.

The Erwin and Godwin "Being Polite Sucks Sometimes" Award
Ross and Tarryn take out the pairing of the Erwin and Godwin "Jeez, I Hope They Don't Beat Us Now" Award that they won on the first leg. The extra hour of sleep probably wouldn't have helped them with the Roadblock at all, but it still would have helped them not get beaten by the team they saved.

The historic heart of Instanbul, Turkey holds reminiscents of 3 different empires.

Paul and Steve were the first to arrive, and will depart at 11:42 AM

Teams must now fly to the City of Light, Paris. Teams must travel to the cooking school Le Cordon Blue to find their next clue.

Paul feels that starting in position one is right. He doesn't wanna slip.

Michelle and Jo depart 11:48 AM, they're sick of coming only second, but they have definitely proved they're more than pretty faces. They've been given $400, and want to hopefully do some shopping.

JoGrace and Sticky/Sam depart more or less together. Grace feels this leg is Game on.

Lucy and Emilia open their clue and are ecstatic. I think their screams may have been what caused the Earthquake over here a few weeks ago.

Shane and Andrew are pretty happy to go to Paris, but they worry that their wives will be jealous of them.

Alpha Males and Cheerleaders are at the Airport.

The Twins have ran to a flight that closes in 8 minutes, and got themselves on the flight with Paul and Steve. They'll be the only two.

JoGrace learn the next flight won't be out til 3:15. The first two teams will arrive at 4:30. The next flight with all teams down to Shane and Andrew will arrive at 5:50 PM

James and Sarah are hoping to get straight on a plane, and hoping all the other teams will still be there.

James says usually in last you see a team here or there, bu they've yet to see anyone. They'll land in Paris at 9:25 PM.

The first two teams grab cabs, and the twins are first out of the airport. They love the sight of The Eiffel Tower. Paul and Steve give us a great impression of the classic French Laugh.

The boys get to the Roadblock just ahead of the twins.

The team member performing the Roadblock must bake a batch of Souffles. Once they've made a successful one, they'll receive their next clue.

Teams have to sign up for classes which happen in groups of 4, starting at 9 AM the next day.

The next plane lands, and Shane and Andrew have a less than confident taxi driver.

Lucy and Emilia are straight into their French and enjoying the sights. It's a dream come true for them, but I'm guesing not as much as the fact that their cab has reached the school first. It also helps them break into the top half for the first time (Their team code is 7 for all the eagle eyed viewers out there. Michelle and Jo have the code of 2)

Shane can't cook at all, so Andrew will take the Roadblock, lamenting their taxi again.

The first group is starting the task. Michelle (Or Jo?) doesn't like the look of the instructions.

Lucy isn't exactly confident but is having fun.

Grace angers feminists everywhere by posing the question "If you have a wife who can't cook, what is she good for?" She thinks this is her good wife test.

Michelle and Grace are having difficulty. Grace forgot the sugar, and Michelle's is a different consistency to everyone elses. Grace has burnt her mixture.

Sarah and James have finally landed in Paris.

Steve is very happy that his mum made him cook as a kid. His mixture is in the oven and he's watching the clock for his 11 minutes very carefully.

Grace the Bad Wife doesn't know how to fold liquid.

Steve's are out of the oven, but they haven't risen evenly.

Lucy's are in the oven.

Steve is down for the taste test. The Head Chef says it doesn't look very nice, but takes a few bites.

We're back

Steve's souffle looks nice inside, and he's passed the test so they're off!

They must now travel to Rungis Market and search amongst 230 ha of produce and find a certain stall to collect a 30 kilogram wheel of cheese, then deliver it to a cheese shop 25 kilometers away. If they deliver it undamaged, they'll receive their next clue.

Andrew and Sam are starting their class. Sarah is a latecomer but they let her join in anyway, showing they have more lenience than my old high school teachers.

Lucy has forgotten how long her Souffle has been in for, so she kind of just guesses when hers should come out. Grace looks like she'll make the same mistake.

Lucy guessed well, they're out of the task after a quick taste test. They're up to their highest ever place in second.

Sarah has dropped her egg mix and put it back in her bowl. The chef has stopped her and made her redo that.

Michelle's souffle looks good, by her estimations the best of anyone's yet, but she's undercooked the Souffle so she'll have to salvage what mix she has left and hope for the best.

Grace's souffle hasn't risen much, but she passes the test.

Paul and Steve are at the marketplace.

Michelle has lucked out with her 2nd souffle, proving the adage that Ps get Degrees.

Andrews Souffle looks good, the judge called it exactly what he wanted, and he was told he was number 1 for the night. Sam is told he wasn't the best, but good enough. They both pass.

Paul and Steve are still searching the market, but they've found the cheese section, and have been told Jean-Marie (The cheese guy) is coming. The girls are there.

Sarah has been deemed good enough by the judge, and apparently she did it quickly. James likened it to him completing a make up challenge.

Lucy and Emilia have used their French to advantage and are right behind Michelle and Jo and Paul and Steve.

The girls carry the cheese together. Paul decides he's going to carry it himself and use the chance to flex his muscles a bit.

Lucy and Emilia are right behind the first two, all three in cabs.

Grace is trying to have her taxi driver wait, but he doesn't want to unless Grace pays her "One million dollar" It was strongly recommended in the clue that teams have their driver wait.

Shane and Andrew are having trouble because Here a Cheese, There a cheese, everywhere a cheese cheese.

James and Sarah have got their cab driver to wait for them.

Grace isn't having a bar of lifting the cheese and tells Jo to suck it up.

James and Sarah have made good time with the cheese, and feel they're back in it.

Grace and Jo are trying to steal the cab, and get busted in the act. But it's too late for James and Sarah to stop them, they'll drive off in the cab.

Back from the ad break.

James and Sarah are still left stranded after the very very low dog act from JoGrace.

Sarah doesn't care if they have to stop traffic on the street, she's going to find a cab.

Joseph says desperate times call for desperate measures.

Grace scrambles to justify herself by saying she doesn't like Sarah and James (literally the first time they've expressed a dislike for the pair)

Michelle and Jo's driver takes the straight to the cheese place and they get their clue. Teams must now head to Debilly Footbridge and search for a painter to receive their next clue.

Paul and Steve and Lucy and Emilia are right behind.

Lucy and Emilia feel Paris has delivered everything they asked for... Except cute Frenchmen.

James and Sarah have found a pub that will call them a cab. They bicker for a while and Sarah feels that their relationship has never been at a lower point.

Grace the Bad Wife and Jo have delivered their cheese, and Michelle and Jo  have reached the bridge, receiving instructions to fly to Havana in Cuba. Once there, they must search the airport carpark for a classic car, then drive to the Tropicana Nightclub and find the lead showgirl to find their next clue.

The twins leave the bridge just as Paul and Steve go running up to the painter in a nice distance shot panning across for them.

Lucy and Emilia wanted to go to Cuba, but "Not while we're in Paris and not while we're ahead"

The Cops deliver the cheese and get instructions to the bridge from a nice guy on an iPhone.

James and Sarah have a cab, and James tells her that bitching and moaning doesn't help, and that it's a race. Sarah goes "No way!" and confesses that Paris isn't the city of love, it's the city of hate.

Ad break.

We're back

The cops are running through Paris just as the sun starts coming up, so they're taking a moment to enjoy the sights, save some money and not be screwed by a taxi driver. Sam and Sticky are meanwhile proceeding to get screwed by a taxi driver that doesn't know where the bridge is.

Lucy and Emilia and Michelle and Jo book tickets on flight number one.

Sarah knows exactly where the bridge is so they jump in a cab.

JoGrace and The Cops have found the painter in spots 4 and 5. They take another moment to enjoy the sights before rushing off.

James and Sarah find the painter in slot number 6 and hope they can redeem themselves in a  new country.

Sam and Sticky know they're last when they reach the bridge, but feel they're back in the game.

All teams bar James and Sarah and Sam and Sticky will land in Cuba at 3:10 PM

Hunners and St. James tell Sticky and Sam what happened with the cabs, the two of them will land in Havana at 5:50.

First flight drops in Cuba. Paul and Steve marvel at the cars and claim the dark blue one quickly. Looking at the map it appears as if teams will be driving for a while, and theh shift is in a strange place, which is confusing a few teams.

Steve's car has a non functioning speedo and fuel guage. The cops have a car without seatbelts too.

Steve finds the mix of horses and old school cars on the road very strange.

Michelle and Jo are having big troubles with their car, so they hop out and ask for some strong men to help them push start the car.

Lucy and Emilia don't get a push start, but they're moving too. Albeit one bunny hop at a time.

Ad break.

We're back.

Lucy and Emilia have switched cars since they're still technically in the parking lot.

The second flight lands in darkness in Cuba. Both teams pick a car and proceed to go nowhere fast.

James and Sarah are first to leave the parking lot, Sticky and Sam a little behind.

The key just fell out of James' car, but it's still running.

Lucy and Emilia are having some directional difficulty, but Michelle and Jo are in the right city.

Shane and Andrew are having trouble opening the boot of their car to get a torch out, they settle for holding the door open and using the car light.

Paul and Steve are at the nightclub and open their clue to head to the Pit Stop: Hotel Nacional

The last team to check in may be eliminated.

The boys are confident they're in the lead, and the Cops have had their cars bonnet has started  poping up. JoGrace have stalled in the middle of an intersection, but gotten a push to help them jumpstart.

Michelle has stalled right outside the club, but they're in 2nd place getting their clue, but not before deciding which showgirls bodies they want.

Sticky and Sam have no idea how to get to Havana, and the locals aren't helping any.

Michelle and Jo have struck the kerb and need another push start to get going. She's kangaroo hopping up and down the streets now. The twins share a few words at maximum volume about how hard this actually is, and its another ad break.

Michelle and Jo have another push start, and pay off a local to oversee their driving.

Sticky and Sam are still struggling to find the Tropicana and James and Sarah are using their spare cash to pay a taxi to lead them. Paul and Steve are first to the hotel and jump on the mat for team number one. They've won the right to KEEP RACING!

It's a Megaleg. It was, according to Paul "A fake Pit Stop"

Michelle and Jo check in right behind and keep racing.

Shane and Andrew wonder what happens if their car becomes inoperable.

JoGrace have an engine on fire and bail out of their vehicle.

Lucy and Emilia have a car that's not overly keen on moving, and they've stalled right over train tracks.

To Be Continued.

Next time, Havana reveals a few surprises as teams drive to "Australia"

James and Sarah have a confrontation with JoGrace.

the twins are always blocked for first place by Paul and Steve. its shocking when they got to thecheese task first even Michelle has to most fail in the RB. Its good to have 2 country in a leg but I realize it kinda suck when the top teams have to wait in the airport for the other teams to catch up. :gaah:

I actually think that the fake Pit Stop might have been originally in Paris, but they probably needed to move Grant to Cuba to start filming, so they moved the Pit Stop as well.

Judging from sunrise/set times, we clearly lost stuff in Paris AND Havana. With "two hours" cooking time and starting at 10:00pm, and with sunrise at 8:22am on December 1st, it means a whole bunch of teams took more than EIGHT AND A HALF HOURS to do the cheese and find the painter.

And the five lead teams arrived in Havana at 3:10pm, drove to the nightclub (which seems like it's basically a straight-ish twenty minute drive, per Google Maps), and NOBODY managed to get there until after sunset at 5:45pm? Even with those cars?

The last flight into Cuba allegedly landed before 6 PM, but James and Sarah are clearly running to the carpark in complete darkness. There's no way that they went from sunset to beyond last light that quickly.

Full Title- "If Bolo Can Drive A Crappy Car, So Can You"

Watch For:
-Coutzy to go nuts and be in hysterics about everything because his favourite wrestler had a win today.
-Sarah to have a go at James for checking out the club showgirls. Whether James did or not remains to be seen.
-Lucy and Emilia to reach the fake Pit Stop last, in true Lucy and Emilia fashion.

Here we go!

Previously on The Amazing Race Australia

Brother and Sister Joseph and Grace stole James and Sarahs taxi to get ahead.

When teams raced to Havana, Cuba in search of the Tropicana Nightclub, classic cars put the brakes on some.

Paul and Steve beat the twins to the Pit Stop, but both teams found there was more to come.

7 Teams remain, who will be eliminated tonight?
Title: Re: Coutzy's Commentaries on AusTAR 2! Episode 8 coming on page 9
Post by: Coutzy on July 16, 2012, 04:42:54 AM
Paul and Steve run out, and they are charged up and happy to continue racing.

Michelle and Jo were driving for 6 hours and now have to continue.

Teams must now drive to Marina Hemingway and sign up for 1 of 4 charter boats, departing 30 minutes apart.

Shane and Andrew are still trying to push their car, meanwhile a local gets under their bonnet and fixes their car.

Joseph and Grace have rolled their car to a Cuban house party, and a woman has figured out that they've blown a fuse and takes a wire off the street to replace it in a fine display of Bush Mechanics.

Shane and Andrew have reached the club and are driving to the Pit Stop.

Lucy and Emilia have stalled over the train line. Lucy had thoughts of abandoning the car, but they were never going to give up. They find the nightclub shortly after, but get overtaken by James and Sarah in the parking lot.

The two believe they must be at the bottom of the pack, so their scrambling to get there.

The cops are told they are number 3 and can't believe it, but are even more horrified that they have to keep racing.

Paul and Steve are on the first boat, joined by Michelle and Jo. It's 2 teams per boat.

Joseph and Grace reach the club and get their clue, leaving as Sticky and Sam arrive.

James and Sarah hit the mat 4th and depart again quickly. Lucy and Emilia are 5th and have that famous "No Way" look they perfected in Dubai.

James and Sarah complain about being tired because they got no rest at their "Pit Continue"

Sticky and Sam are lost again, and JoGrace reach Grant in 6th place, and they have been given a 2 hour penalty for pulling another teams belongings out of the taxi, which is a clear violation of a race rule. They need to wait it out at this Pit Stop.

They've been waiting there at least an hour before Sticky and Sam arrive and hit the mat. Grant hands them their next clue right in front of JoGrace, killing any suspense that they might have had about elimination.

And the penalty is completely meaningless, because they'll be on the same boat as Sticky and Sam.

Michelle and Jo and Paul and Steve get their clue, it's a Roadblock.

The chosen team member must use a compass and nautical chart to find a fisherman on the water. HOWEVER: If a team can land a fish before they find him, they can go straight to shore and get their next clue. Failure to do either will land a 4 hour penalty, as specified by the clue.

Jo gives us all a rundown of the classic Never Eat Soggy WeetBix

Steve feels he's in the right area, and starts asking boats if they are the Old Man of the Sea. Boat owners everywhere are less than impressed.

Jo is crying after not very long, and it seems her estimation of the right co-ordinates is land. At least she's aware that she's supposed to be in the water. She talks about the pressure because Michelle has performed so well, so she feels like she needs to step up too.

Jo looks more seasick than frazzled to me, but either way we'll go to an ad break. Also the shared boats were a complete lie.

We get an ad for the Geelong vs. Essendon game on Friday. Go Bombers!

Steve is looking for more boats to ask.

Jo is looking very seasick and almost hurls on screen.

James and Sarah and Shane and Andrew have their clues.

James has no idea how to use a compass, Shane and Andrew are on the water just in front of them.

Steve has found the target and get their next clue: DETOUR

Che Puzzle or Daiqiri Guzzle

In Puzzle teams must put together a 90 piece puzzle of Che Guevarra

In Guzzle, teams must make 6 Daiquiris and then deliver them with one hand to a hotel down the street.

Jo has spotted Steve and Paul leaving and hit the same boat.

Michelle and Jo struggle to read the clue, and Jo almost hurls on deck, giving us possibly the most funny moment of the season.

Michelle says "Over the side, dickhead" then waits for Jo to retch a few times before smiling sweetly and saying "Back to the Marina please, sir!"

The Cops decide stuff the compass, he wants to go fishing.

The girls and Paul and Steve are back at the Marina and the cars are decidedly more modern now, but the girls are still having difficulty with the stick shifts.

Shane and Andrew have caught a fish and will be off to the Marina. They've chosen the puzzle, leading to the confession "How hard could a puzzle be?" I smell trouble.

Sam is doing the Roadblock, along with Joseph. Neither are great with compasses.

Emilia is going directions in between vomiting.

The Cops have found Michelle and Jo on the road and both are searching for the puzzle task.

Paul and Steve are at the Daiquiris. Paul is a non drinker, but Steve looks reasonably comfortable.

The girls and the cops are at the puzzle, and it seems Michelle and Jo have no idea who Che Guevarra is, apparently.

Ad break.

James finds the man in the boat and gets the clue with about 5 minutes to spare before getting an enforced penalty.

Emilia also finds the boat and they go for puzzle.

Paul and Steve have their drinks made and are travelling. Right on cue, a parade is happeneing on the street they're on and comes over to distract them.

Sam has instead decided to use one of the compass directions and followed it to straight to the boat.

JoGrace spots the boys and decides to check their boat.

Sticky and Sam go for Daiquiris, since one of them owned a nightclub for 5 years.

Grace gives us a wonderful hooked on phonics moment. Jo tries to tell Grace that the drinks will be a lot tougher than they sound, but Grace refuses to listen so they'll do them anyway.

Paul and Steve have delivered their drinks successfully and gotten their clue to drive themselves to the village of Australia. Once there, they'll go to a Crocodile farm. When they've fed and caught a croc, they'll get their next clue.

Paul and Steve have enlisted local help and finished the task, with Michelle and jo right behind them.

The cops and girls duo are following a taxi driver to the highway.

Sticky breezes through the drinks and they're carrying them, but they don't know where they're supposed to go.

The drinks are starting to melt in the sun and slosh around.

James and Sarah are making progress with the puzzle, but they've stopped for a discussion on whether locals should help and what constitutes "random pieces"

Sarah: "I know I'm not always right, but if you don't prove me wrong them I am right"

This comes moments after telling him to stop challenging her and just go with the flow.

JoGrace are at the bar, and Grace takes the opportunity to dance. Airhead.

Sticky and Sam are at the hotel and have been approved, they have their clue.

Sarah and James have finished the puzzle, and Lucy and Emilia are not far behind. They note that the fact that the struggle is never between the two of them is the reason they're still here.

Grace drops her tray and drinks go everywhere.

Ad break.

Sarah and James gave us more funny moments after they finished the puzzle.

James: "What's the saying? A good leader must first learn to follow?"

Sarah doesn't miss a beat, hitting back with "Happy wife, happy life, there's another saying.... Not that we're married."

We're back.

Joseph and Grace are heading off to do the puzzle. Joseph says that its the last time Grace makes a decision. Grace takes consolation in that she can at least make daiquiris. If she's not here to become an honourary Khardashian sister, I'll go eat.

Paul and Steve are at the crocodile farm and start the feeding.

The Cops and Cheerleaders are in Australia and have started started their feeding. The cheerleaders are less than enthusiastic.

The Alpha Males are working their catching. Paul is very keen to strut his stuff.

"Cheerleaders don't do this kind of stuff!" Remarks Michelle (Or Jo) as they feed.

Paul has his croc and they must travel by foot then marked boat to the next Pit Stop. The last team to check in may be eliminated.

The boys aren't sure of the way to the boats, and the Cops 'n' Cheerleaders are starting their capturing. The Cops are done with it quickly and off they go in 2nd place.

Paul and Steve have found their speedboat, so do the cops.

Paul and Steve hit the mat first and win a Luxury holiday to Queenstown, New Zealand valued at $10,000

Paul and Steve have now won 3 consecutive legs, and reached the midpoint first to go with it.

Shane and Andrew check in for 2nd. JoGrace have finished their puzzle.

Sticky and Sam are lost and really struggling. We go to an ad break.

Sticky and Sam have been driving for an hour, and have found themselves back at the Detour again.

The Cheerleaders are working at the croc capturing and having trouble. Sarah hates the croc food.

The girls have caught their croc, but they can't decide who actually caught it because one of them looped the lasso, the other pulled it tight.

Lucy and Emilia have found Australia without getting lost, so they've moved up a little.

James is psyched to be capturing a crocodile and does it pretty easily, so they're off.

The sisters are digging through the feed with their hands in order to scoop it into the pen faster. They say they're good at things that don't need skill.

Michelle and Jo and James and Sarah check in for 3rd and 4th.

JoGrace are at the enclosure and start scooping food.

Emilia is sweet talking her croc, and it's working as well as it did for the pigs. Lucy claims she's the croc whisperer.

The girls check in for 5th.

Sticky and Sam arrive at the croc farm and have sighted Grace and Joseph, they're hustling now.

Joseph has been ubale to catch the croc on his first attempt, but recovers quickly.

Sticky and Sam are refusing to quit, but they feel that they're done for.

We go to an ad break.

We're back

Zuji got 3 plugs in this ad break.

JoGrace roll into the mat for 6th place, they'llsurvive to fight another day.

Sarah and James spot them at the Pit Stop, so it looks like we'll get some ESM.

Grace puts on an apology for them, and Sarah calls her out on it, claiming that she's not sorry at all. Grace responds with a sickly sweet smile and "You feel however you wanna feel. Only I know whether I mean it." Sarah wants to bitch slap her, apparently.

Sticky and Sam hit the mat in last place, and get eliminated.

Grant asks if they have any doubts, Sticky says he's done everything one handed all his life, so this wasn't any different. Sam reassures us they'll be mates for life.

Next time, teams head to Vancouver, Canada and do some log rolling.

The stakes get raised, and one team will crumble in the race for a quarter of a million dollars.

Sticky & Sam :'(

Gee, I hope Lucy & Emilia don't get eliminated next leg (it shows Lucy crying and saying I'm sorry).

And Coutzy, Hawks FTW. :jam:

AWARDS

The Clive Peters Play of the Day!
For this leg, I'm going to give it to Sarah in the souffle task way back in Paris. She was easily the best at getting it done quickly, and she did it by listening, something anyone could have done.

Muppet of the Week
Grace, for thinking her bizarre way of carrying drinks was going to work, and her airheaded nature in general that swept through the whole of Cuba.

Heel Moment of the Week
Cab stealers. Easy pick this time.

Congratulations, You Just Made Youtube
There were a lot of genuinely funny moments this week, but I think this one has got to go to Michelle and Jo for the brilliant juxtaposition of retching sounds and the hyper sweet and innocent "Back to the marina please, sir!"

For the record, I believe this was the seasons best episode so far. Loads of really funny moments, and plenty of shuffles in the team order to keep things interesting.

...JoGrace reach Grant in 6th place, and they have been given a 2 hour penalty for pulling another teams belongings out of the taxi, which is a clear violation of a race rule. They need to wait it out at this Pit Stop.

Even though I disagree with having them serve the penalty at the fake Pit Stop...

I will not be able to provide commentary for this weeks episode.

I will be in New South Wales watching it on a big screen at an event hosted by Lucy and Emilia.

If somebody else wants to take over for a week, feel free.
