Starting Line Task: Teams had to search for their first clues, hidden under 10000 seats on B stand of the stadium. The co-workers & the brothers struggled to find the clues. The brothers was the last team to find the clue, about 30 minutes after the co-workers.
Roadblock: Who wants to conquer the height?

In this Roadblock, one team member had to climb to the roof of the stadium and abseil down to receive their next clues. Tuấn Anh, Minh Châu, Richie, Thành Phúc, Thanh Thủy, Hồng Long, Mỹ Trâm, Minh Hoàng, Gia B́nh and Thành Trung performed this Roadblock.
Route Info: Take a taxi or bus to Thanh Niên Street and search for your next clue. You have 500,000 VND for this leg of the race.
All teams took taxies to Thanh Niên Street and found the clue box placed on a lake shore.
Detour: Crowded Street or Beautiful Words
In Crowded Street, teams had to travel to Đồng Xuân Market, pick up a list of goods including 2 reed mats, 2 masks, 1 pipe and 1 feather duster, then find 3 marked shops located in Hàng Mă Street, Hàng Chiếu Street and Hàng Vải Street to collect the goods listed. After that, they had to carry them back to Đồng Xuân Market to receive their next clues. The best friends, the professional travelers, the married couple, the V-A couple and the brothers chose this detour. The V-A couple was lost because Mimi didn't know anything about Hanoian streets. She thought Hàng Vải was a clothes shop, so they searched in Đồng Xuân Market instead (In Hanoi Old Quarter, a street name is the thing that street sells). It was also shown that Mimi was the weakest person in the race.

In Beautiful Words, teams had to travel to Temple of Literature, the very first university of Vietnam, build 942 years ago. Here, one member had to listen to a four-sentence poem for only 1 time, then tell their partner to write it down and bring it to an old calligraphist to check. If it's correct, they would receive their next clues. If not, they had to wait for one incense to burn out (about 15 minutes?), then they'd be able to listen again. The cousins, the Châus, the actors, the athletic couple, the co-workers chose this detour. The co-workers wasted so much time doing this Detour.

At Hoa Binh, all teams took taxis to Dong Thech Ancient Cemetery, except the best friends who took scooter taxis. Teams arrived at the cemetery in the following order:

Roadblock: Who has eyes for details?
In this roadblock, one team member had to search the ground of the cemetery for 4 numbers: 8, 5, 1, 2. Then use these numbers to open a 4-number combination lock which locked a box contained their next clue. Long, Trâm, Thoa, Sơn, Châu T., Phúc, Thảo, Bằng, Châu B. & Mimi performed this roadblock. They quickly found the numbers, but spent a lot of time to unlock. Teams completed the roadblock in the following order:

#2: Actors
#3: Married couple
#4: Pro travelers
#5: Cousins
#6: Brothers
#7: Athletic couple
#8: Co-workers
#9: Châus
#10: V-A couple

Both detour required team to travel to Giang Mo Village. In farm play, teams had to walk in stilts on a marked road to receive the next clue. Married couple, athletic couple & brothers chose this detour. In farm work, each team member had to plough, fertilize and plant one furrow of sugarcane to receive the next clue. Teams completed the detour in the following order:

Route Info: Travel on foot to the pit stop at the end of the village. The last team to check in may be eliminated. Female villagers, who stood behind Dustin at the pit stop, played gongs to greet the teams.

Since TAR contestants are NOT locals, it's all right then... Wonder if they'll have nightmares...

I think it was hard for ALL teams but Richie & Mimi used the stairs all the way to the top unlike the leading teams who climbed up the slope.

Well, I think it's the first time Vietnam have a show like this, so they want the contestants to experience how tough the race is. Since the cast is pretty good (except Mimi), I think people will sad to see any team eliminated, they want to know about the teams. Now I want Richie & Mimi eliminated and Richie go back to the states, find someone else with him and go for TAR. He's a good guy :tup:

Grant Bowler of TAR Au said that you need 3 things to be successful in TAR:-
1. Get Fit
2. Think, think, think!
3. Teamwork
Now this "historical" team didn't do No. 2... What a waste! (:;)
The editing/camera work is not as good as TAR US as the camera man/assistant can be seen in the taxi & at the eating challenge. The only camera man I saw in the TAR US eps was just a shadow - that's how good they are! :tup:
I liked the way the racers greet each other, and saying "TQ" to the boat women. Maybe it's the Asian value. Way to go, racers! :yess:

In eat, teams make their way to a restaurant and eat 40 plates of cơm cháy (crispy rice?). They were excited about this detour (some hadn't eaten yet) but shocked when they saw what they had to eat. Actors, pro travelers, RiMi changed detour immediately (Richie thought it was cơm chay - vegetarian food). Brothers and athletic couple left halfway. Only cousins and young girls stayed. BIG MISTAKE (:;)

In play, teams make their way to a goat farm and play bịt mắt bắt dê (translation: blindfolded catch goat, blind man's buff in English) literally. One team member is blindfolded with a colored silk, directed by their teammate, have to catch a goat with the exact color and bring it to cage to receive the next clue. Teams had to work together to complete the task. Married couple, Châus, Co-workers This is by far the funniest detour in the race, especially when Richie grabbed others people :lol3:

They used it at the roadblock cuz they knew they were in last already. If they'd use it at the detour, one possibly strong team would've been eliminated. It reminded me of TAR20's second ff. I'll have a look at this ep again.

That "possibly strong team" would've been the cousins! Well common sense tells me that if a detour is not going well, racers must then try the other challenge, which was the case in TAR 17 Leg 6 where the detour was between Classical Music and Classic Cinema. There were a few teams going from one detour to another and back again.
The other thing is a detour shouldn't take that long - from 6.21am till what - 6.21pm? If actors, pro travelers & RiMi changed detour immediately, & didn't return to the eating detour, then common sense, again, says that the other task's easier (Now I know what Grant's "Think, think, think" advice meant! :) )

4 hours, as per TAR07 when Rob, Meredith and Deana were unable to complete the roadblock task at leg 3 & their teams were all issued 4-hour penalties at the Roadblock site.

The 4 lbs of meat in Argentina, I can do. If I remember right, Uchenna, Rob, some female teams, and Alex all did it. I've been to steakhouses where they had steaks bigger than 4 lbs.

Yes. Unlike meat, cơm cháy is rice, and it's very dry so teams had to eat it with Sting :lol: Rice + lots of water makes you full easily.

Route Info: Travel by taxi to Bai Dinh Temple. Within the entrance area, find a photographer to receive your next clue. You have 100.000 VND for this leg of the race. Actors couldn't find the photographer at first so they told the married couple and to find in another entrance. Both teams climbed a mountain for a long time and found themselves terribly lost. Because RiMi weren't come in first last leg, they were told to hand over all their money as a penalty for coming last on a non-elimination leg. They had to massage for some money. Fast Forward: To claim this fast forward, one team had to travel to My Khe Beach and convince a person to let them shave that person's head. No one went for the ff at first, but then the actors decided to go for it. They arrived at the beach at about 2pm and convinced a boy to let them shave his head (smart, guys). The pit stop for this leg was Fusion Maia Resort.
Route Info: Travel by taxi to Ba Na Hills. You have 1,100,000 VND for this leg of the race. Great, more money :yess: Teams reached the clue box in the following order:

In Palm, teams traveled to Sandy Beach Resort. They had to dig a marked sand area in a beach for a clue buried somewhere 1 meter below the sand here. Teams were required to use nothing but their bare hands. Cousins, pro travelers, CWs, brothers, married couple chose this detour.
Teams completed the detour in the following order:

If, by any reasons, the golf bag was put onto the ground, the golfer had to pause from playing until the caddy pick it up again.

You mean the athletic couple, right? I love them too. The hubby-to-be (he’s real hubby now) surprised me a lot. When he said he had won the gold medal in a cyclo racing (leg 7), I thought he’s joking. But one of the professional travelers (the guy with glasses) has confirmed it is true and added that he’s also a rock star (cool guy) :jam:

When we’re traveling from Nha Trang to Da Lat by bus at 8.00am, each of us just eat a Vietnamese pork sandwich which is sold in front of bus station at Nha Trang to appease our hunger. As a result, we totally feel belly- pinched at noon. However, because we are on the race, we all must evince that we are tough and strong to avoid the contempt of the other teams. Each team superciliously stares at the other teams and says something like “What? Hungry? Piece of cake!” The scene in which some guys spontaneously sing as you see on TV, it’s not because they enjoy life or the trip, but because they’re too hungry to sleep, so they sing to forget their hungers, and they all sing sad songs …
When the bus was nearly at Dalat, the driver is very understanding when he stops at a rest area for us, including the passengers to go pee pee … What? We are hungry, and now, have to pass water? Alright, whatever! A piss shot and we have nothing to store now. After “picking flowers,” (= having a piss) passengers’ faces are suffused with delight, but our faces become paler and paler. Becgie (he means Baggio) is naturally strong as an ox, “meaty” and “fatty”, but now, just because of starvation, he has to leave his pride to declare “I suggest when arriving to Da Lat, our teams take a break for having lunch and then race whatever race you want.” “Clap! Clap!” A ripple of applause runs through the racers.
Arriving to bus station at Dalat, I slowly get off the bus. Remembering my brother’s oath, the first thing I do is having a glance at any restaurants nearby. Suddenly, my old man, Mr Binh, pulls my arms. “Run! Run! They all run away!” I’m frightened looking around. Hmm … over there! The guys who enthusiastically voted for stopping the race to eat just a few minutes ago; now they’re leading all teams in skipping lunch to race. They’re running towards the cab as if they are chased by dogs. I also have to break my butt to run after them. So we run, run and run until night without having meals. From Nha Trang to Dalat with a loaf of bread …
I completely lose my trust in people!!!

They had some milk boxes and sausages in their backpacks but they didn’t eat either cuz they just concentrated to race. “Grand-aunt” Long said he also snatched a drink of milk when waiting Sugar Beet (Mr Binh) played his roadblock. The teams often ate after finishing their races :)

Last Friday, the racers had a reunion party :keeta: at Baggio’s restaurant and watched episode 9 together. Some were absent. The newlywed went to Phan Thiet for paragliding, Mrs Chau traveled to Dalat with her family, Mr Binh has a new love, the purple team was still in Hanoi cuz they worked at night (I’m not sure) …

Do you wonder why the brothers used the U-Turn for the purple team on the sixth leg? Racers refused to answer it, and said we will know in the next episodes but till now it’s a secret. I say most racers are nice but not all. There are also some bad rumors like frauds in some games but I think it’s rubbish (:;)

They’re strong, but not enough cuz I think they’d pretty been lucky in some tasks. One reason that the professional travelers used their U-Turn power against the cousins was the same as the brothers’ reason. As I said, most racers are nice but not all. Tuan Anh’s attitude was unpopular with most racers and some audiences. I think he’s weird. Xuan Son, vice versa, is very very naive, gentle and obedient :lol: But anw, the cousins are the good guys :)

The dating couple (Hoang in this case) likes black but he always jokes with his gf he loves pink, so Thao wrote ‘pink’ 2 or 3 times.
The actors (Phuc) likes blue. Baggio chose this color because he saw Phuc was wearing blue T-shirt and cap.
The brothers (Chung) likes yellow.
The professional travelers (Binh) likes red.
10. Which food does your teammate most like to eat?
The dating couple (Hoang) likes to eat Bittet (beefsteak).
The actors (Phuc) likes cake. Baggio guessed Phuc would write ‘cake’ because Phuc often went through the brothers’ backpacks for finding cakes to eat after racing.
The brothers (Chung) likes Nem. I don’t know what exactly ‘Nem’ in this case because we have two different kinds of Nem in Vietnam due to dialectal differences. One food is ‘Nem chua’ (Vietnamese fermented pork) and one is ‘Nem rán’ (Spring rolls), but our Southern people call ‘Spring rolls’ is ‘Cha gio’. So I’m asking them.

I understand what you mean but I don't know the answer. The trailer didn't spoil anything, but I guess it's a double-length leg.

Are they allowed to empty the baskets of coconuts if the baskets are full, like what brothers & travellers did?
I don't think so. The brothers & travelers was penalized for 2 hours because the baskets are too heavy for them to carry, and they are allowed to empty them after the penalty, not because they are full.

The brothers are so much alike that many Vietnamese audience can't distinguish the one from the other too. It seems that their team and Baggio's team are close
Moms love the travelers a lot because aunt Long often chats with them and he's very humorous. Some moms love them so much that they are looking up the nude pictures of Binh at facebook to watch :lol3: (I ask a mom to send them to me too :lol:)

This episode was aired in 27 July, which was Vietnamese Martyrs’ Day.

While on taxi to the restaurant, actors though about which team they would Yield if any. Also they wished for a U-Turn in ep 10, which turned out to be true.

They called this detour “Tam Cam Detour” because it related to the story of Tam and Cam, a Vietnamese version of Cinderella when the stepmother forced Tam to separate green and black beans before she can go to the festival. The couple chose this detour.
In cold, teams traveled to Phu Quoc Ice Factory. Using only a spoon, they had to break the ice and find their clue inside. They weren’t allowed to move the blocks of ice. The rest 3 teams chose this detour but actors switched haft way.

For each wrong answer of the person inside, their teammate had to carry 1 coconut through a path surrounded with barbed wire. The person inside answer the quiz again till matches their teammate’s answer. If the person outside drop the baskets, they would received a 2-hour penalty and then allowed to empty the baskets to start again.

They would finally have to search the beach for three parts of a map, which identified the location of the next destination, Chez Carole Resort.

2. Baggio's team answered 10 questions correctly in the first time because Phuc didn't answer exactly what he really liked or disliked. His answers, in fact, were based on what Baggio liked, disliked, saw or knew about him, like his favorite color, he chose blue because it was also his T-shirt's color, and it's easy for Baggio to guess the answer ...

They didn't plan to quit at first cuz they said it'd be a shame to quit. Also that task wasn't detour or roadblock so they weren't penalized 4 or 6 hours.

Finally, both team members then had to place 11 flags on a large map of Vietnam, representing the 11 locations they visited.

The trend of the overall finishing order has been strong, weak, strong, weak, etc. and if it continues, the actors finish second. But then again, they've been alternating between 3rd and 1st for a few legs now. The actors also won the third leg, and we all know what that means.
The dating couple has finished in every placement between 1st and 8th except for 2nd, so perhaps they'll get it this leg.
I don't dislike any of the teams, so I'm ok with any of them winning. I at least hope for an exciting final leg.

In this second roadblock, the other team member had 2 minutes to learn some martial art moves. Then they had to run away from 2 motorbikes while keeping the flag on their backpacks, jump up and down a container, climb up a rope ladder, fight an enemy using the martial art moves learnt and finally break the wall to escape. All racers perform this roadblock had cramp. Thành Chung’s injured arm from last leg also made him stop racing for almost 2 hours.

Well, maybe the finale is not the best leg, the result is not what I wanted, but the racers in this episode really inspired me a lot. This is the first time Vietnam has a reality show like this, so I can’t really blame on them. I just hope for better seasons in the future so we can enjoy this great reality show :hearts:

I only updated The Amazing Race Wiki. I don't know who updated Wikipedia, the details there are wrong sometimes.
Based on what I see, young girls and moms like the actors cuz they're... handsome (always that reason lol) while other people either dont like them or like Thành Phúc but hate Baggio. A lot of people like the couple and the travelers while the brothers don't have many fans (maybe cuz they're not... so fun to watch, but I like them). Also people like the cousins (purple team, cơm cháy team, supermen,...) so they turn to hate teams that U-Turned them lol. The co-workers have lots of fans too. RiMi have fans, but seems like they only like Richie. The others...
