Challenges on Season 20 include: ,....The competitors will also ...search King Ludwig's quarters in the German castle that was the inspiration for the castle in "Sleeping Beauty."
is it just me or does the man whom Joey and Danny have to groom has a beard that looks near-identical to the travelocity-roaming gnome's beard?
Could that be its purpose in this leg? groom a man's beard to resemble the gnome's?
the man with the moustache that are messing with kinda looks like the travelocity roaming gnome if you ask me..just sayin.
Do you guys have any idea on what's Brendon and Rachel doing in Active Route Info inside the Castle??I think it is Vanessa/Ralph?
There's a comparison of the "Candy House", the one for display near the witch, and the one that brenchel is working at...
are they trying to uncover them from the ice?? or decorate them to make it just like the example... ???
and if you can identify the tools that Brenchel used, that might help too!! ;)

The "Uglier Than A Mud Rail Fence" quote is probably in reference to the witch.
TEMPERS RISE AS TEMPERATURES DROP WHEN TEAMS VISIT GERMANY IN SEARCH OF SLEEPING BEAUTY’S CASTLE, ON “THE AMAZING RACE,” SUNDAY, MARCH 18
CHEAT TWEET: It’s a fairytale themed leg of #AmazingRace on Sun, 3/18, 8pmET/PT & 1 Racer thinks his Teammate is the #BigBadWolf http://bit.ly/yu3kKV
“Uglier Than A Mud Rail Fence (Bavaria, Germany)” – Teams scour King Ludwig’s quarters in the same castle that served as the inspiration for Sleeping Beauty’s castle, and tempers flare during one Team’s walk through a snowy labyrinth, on THE AMAZING RACE, Sunday, March 18 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Phil Keoghan is host.
So much looking forward to this leg!!! :hrt: :hrt: :hrt: :hrt: :hrt: :hrt:
the coat of arms is from Unterammergau,

I really hope that The Kehlsteinhaus (in English-speaking countries also known as the Eagle's Nest) is the pitstop, that would be so epic? :hearts: :hearts: :hearts: :hearts:
Wow, great work everyone! :<3
It seems like a very Christmas-themed leg with the gingerbread houses, the bearded people which look like Santa Claus! And we had a lot of Santas on the previous leg as well! I'm loving the fact that this race was filmed a lot closer to Christmas than usual! There's a great atmosphere with the locals, or so it seems! :colors
Thank you! So sad that they not, go there could have been so cool. Just like when they have Salzburg (Villa Trapp) for the pitstop. :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(I really hope that The Kehlsteinhaus (in English-speaking countries also known as the Eagle's Nest) is the pitstop, that would be so epic? :hearts: :hearts: :hearts: :hearts:
This on its surface seems like a fine idea. However, Obersalzburg and Berchtesgaden and a long way by either road or rail from Fussen. Mountain highway 23 is the route for the western 2/3. I am going to guess than 60 kph (37 mph) would be an excellent average speed there.
The rail alternative required going all the way into Munich to transfer to the line that goes to Bertechsgaden. I believe that it too will take about 4 hours.

Sorry , i was just posting that tasks, i obviously don't know their order lol.
I'm thinking :
Route Info :
Some place...
Speed Bumb :
Yodeling
Route Info :
A snowy labrynth
Roadblock :
Gnome Curling
Route Info :
Sleeping Beauty's Castle
Detour :
Build or Beard
Pit Stop.
There's a brief shot of Mark/Bopper dealing with the witch in that clip. Since we've got multiple teams at the gingerbread task (Brenchel, Mark/Bopper, another team that is maybe Art/JJ) and the beard task (Joey/Danny, Dave/Rachel, Nary/Jaime), I think it's a good bet that the yodeling is a Speed Bump.
Malensteinweg in Unterammergau....
Malensteinweg in Unterammergau....
Bless you! :lol3:
Hope someone can find the rink! From a logistical point of view, I think the outdoor rink on Malensteinweg in Oberammergau would work best. Its walking distance from the Hansel and Gretel house.
There is a BIG one in Fussen (BLZ) and another in on Malensteinweg in Unterammergau....
Ice arena and curling next to the youth hostel
I am saying that is unlikely, Walkingpneumonia. My rationale is that the distance is 17 miles each way, times 2 is 34 miles. That is a lot of time in transport before even considering the task itself.Depends on the order of tasks, how teams get to Germany and if there really is a speedbump. We know that the teams have a gnome at Neuschwanstein Castle.

So what if they:
fly to Munich (or drive to Oberammergau from Turin)
some general task where they get the gnome
drive to Oberammergau for the speedbump, detour (curl the gnome, or decorate the gingerbread house)
drive to Unterammergau for the roadblock (trim the beard)
drive to Neuschwanstein Castle for the pitstop

I'm pretty sure curling the gnome is the roadblock because only JJ was seen doing it, and trim the beard is the detour because both Joey and Danny are doing it.
:welcome2: to RFF, cougarspy!
Working theory, feel free to flame away:
The lean-tos/huts for the gingerbread task are part of the campingplatz at Unterammergau and the beard task is right next door at the school. (viewpoint (http://www.geodaten.bayern.de/BayernViewer2.0/index.cgi?rw=4427100&hw=5275670&layer=Hybrid&step=0.5))
so is the castle a Route Info versus a pitstop? And this is where the snowy labyrinth occurs (walking up to the castle)?
What does this look like to y'all?? (Besides Brendon falling down...)

Asking again, lol.
I just want to know does this look like a train platform to anyone?? If so, it might mean we see trains!! :lol3:
:groan: :groan: :groan:
BTW. If we see the curling as an Active Route Info, is the Gnome ANOTHER Route Info task??

I need a MAP. :colors
Regarding flights, the speculation thread has a discussion going about maybe teams drove from Turin; appears driving might have been faster.

:groan: :groan: :groan:
:groan: Munich is a bit of a stretch. How about something closer, like Linderhof Palace, in Ettal. It's smack-dab in the middle of all the task locations, and has a Mad King Ludwig connection. And we know how WRP likes castles/palaces for pitstops. But this is all speculation, and we have other threds to discuss that. Back to spoiling. ;)This site is also speculation. I think that seems like a great spec.!
Go to Unterammergau, choose a beard, make it look like the gnome, when the beardee is satisfied, he will give you your next clue and a GNOME??

good point. it's 240 miles away. About a 4 hour drive. BUT...that would be so much to ask of these people. I could imagine people getting totally lost.
CBS released a couple of new clips today:http://www.cbs.com/shows/amazing_race/video/2210537870/the-amazing-race-bavaria-germany
One clip is 31 seconds long and shows Vanessa & Ralph walking (and bickering) to Neuschwanstein Castle. In the clip, Ralph tells Vanessa, "We're three right now" -> currently in 3rd place?
The other clip is 1:21 seconds long and shows Bopper & Mark, Brendan & Rachel, and Kerri & Stacy at the gingerbread house task.
Could be talking about walking instead of riding/driving.
In the other clip its hard to tell if bopper and mark are there with the others or if it is spliced together, but at 57 seconds I see a guy in a blue jacket behind kerri and stacey. Could be them.
I'm pretty sure the detour is Gnome Beard or Gingerbread. We have seen Joey & Danny and Dave and Rachel do the beard and Brenchel, Mark & Bopper, and Kerri & Stacy do the gingerbread. I have not seen anyone do both in the promos. Plus Rachel (BR) said, "I always pick the hard ones," in my thought referring to the hard detours that they have done in the past.
Don't they have to carry their backpacks to the pitstop?
Notice whats the racers are not carrying as they walk up to Neuschwanstein Castle...
Say backpack!
Which makes me think the castle is not the pitstop. Don't they have to carry their backpacks to the pitstop?
Not necessarily.

And You see Brendon carrying the basket to the gingerbread task , so that must be where they are heading . Would they have a route info clue if they're heading to a detour ?But the thing is - they are running away from the Hansel and Gretel house...
Why is Ralph making such a big deal about carrying her jacket? :lol:I am not sure that cold weather gear is carried by the racers. I have the impression, not substantiated by any hard information, that World Race Productions provides cold weather gear just for the few legs that need. If this were not true, the backpacks would have to be huge.
And did Brenchel bring those hats? :lol3:
:umn: Interesting, in the new previews of the beard task. we see not only the wappen for Unterammergau on the wall but also covering the lectern on the stage behind them. Just saying... beards might be in Unterammergau, and not Oberammergau. just saying....

I can't find any photos of it in action though.
The Oberammergau web site says the outdoor rink is behind the tennis courts.

I thought we already determined that the beards are in Unterammergau?? It is the curling (presumed) and the Gingerbread and the yodelling that are in Oberammergau. That is what was throwing us off on calling the beards a Detour, it is further away than most Detours.I'm confused how a couple miles is really that far away. I'm not sure how close most detours are, but the two towns don't seem that far.
So this is confirmed:
Detour = beards or gingerbread
speedbump = yodeling
Curling almost has to be the roadblock. If the Oberammergau outdoor rink is correct, it could play out similar to the last leg. Short travel difficult task (salami/gingerbread) or longer travel easier task (statue/beards).
The castle is probably search for a clue.

Only two more days till this shows. Gotta find whose "Uglier than a Mud Rail Fence". Interested in gingerbread task. No U-turn seen. :gaah:
I have a feeling thatdemon worshiperVanessa said this quote. Or perhaps Kerri/Stacey.
Why is Ralph making such a big deal about carrying her jacket? :lol:Do anybody knows if the wine cellar could be Linderhof Palace, or is it to small to be there?

I would love to know the source of your information from Fussen to Munich. My source says it is "86.4 miles. It takes 2 hours by train and about 1 hour and 40" minutes by car.
Is it possible that the Gnome Curling is the RB and done 1st. Maybe that is how they get their gnomes. Since we only see JJ doing it. Maybe one team member has to get the gnome in the middle of the target to get the gnome and their next clue. Since one picture shows writing on the bottom of one.
But like walkingpneumonia said, they don't have their backpacks on the way to the castle. It does seem like a lot of stuff to fit in to one leg though.

Oh right, maybe you have to park at the bottom and either walk up or take a carriage. Would mean their stuff is in the car. Gee for someone who never really has had something to say before, sure is talkity today.
Thanks WP!!
Here are some pics of the BLZ in Fussn...I don't see any shiny red??
http://www.blz.fuessen.de/ (http://www.blz.fuessen.de/)
But caps 10 and 11 do seem to be inside to me ... so :duno:
:welcome: to RFF everyone!!
I have no comment on the buildings but I do see the 4 teams who finished at the bottom of the pack in Turin. Nary/Jamie, Brrendon/Rachel, Stacy/Kerri, and Mark/Bopper. Mark and Bopper seem to claiming a vehicle while the rest are running past. could be that vehicle takes them to the speedbump while the others are running for a clue.
I'm getting confused, what is an HOO?Hours Of Operation.
Thank you! :)I'm getting confused, what is an HOO?Hours Of Operation.
Can y'all help find this?? NOT the train station at Fussen. Need to find pics for Obergammerau station? Ticket place at Castle?? No idea but finding this will tell us a LOT!!

We had a cap. The cap had the red symbol. Given a lot of us looking, we could have found this.
We had SO much this leg!! I am just greedy .
