Six teams went from Malawi to Denmark
Amani & Marcus forgot to look for flights, but got over it
Zac sucked at dancing
Ernie & Cindy being evil at the U-Turn
Laurence & Zac got lost and were sent sailing, who will be elliminated next?
-
Streams are up now, refresh if you need to.
Quick recap from last time.
-
this one is working well
:waves:
-
Copenhagen has clean water
E&C 9:01
Drive to statue of Hans Christian Andersen
RB: Who can tell a fairy tale right?
Memorize a poen, follow a map to Theatre museum and recite the performance perfectly, or repeat it if they fail
-
Overly-joyous tourists blocking Cindy's view of the poem.
-
Must be my connection, I am having trouble even getting U-Tube to stream.
-
Ernie & Cindy depart first at 9:01 AM. Drive to the Hans Christian Andersen Statue. Roadblock.
Who's ready to take a fairytale ride?
They have to learn a poem by heart... and then use a bicycle with a map on the front wheel. They have to ride themselves to this theatre, and then perform it for this theatre person. If it's not dramatic enough, he'll make them say it again... And then if they forget, then they have to go back.
Cindy is doing the roadblock.
HEH. A tourist bus came and then blocked the statue.
I like this bicycle. It has a smiley face on it... I would steal it.
Cindy is reciting it. Pretty dramatic.
She gets a bravo!
-
Bill & Cathi depart... some time. They're embarrassed about their first leg. Bill wants ice cream.
Andy & Tommy depart at 10:39 AM.
Ernie & Cindy have to drive to Legoland. SO COOL.
-
REFRESH!! All links are working now!
-
Cindy can't read the poem because tourists are blocking the text. But she memorizes and sets off. Cindy attempts it and gets it on her first try.
Bill and Cathi 10:34 (she says "Hot dog" again)
Andy & Tommy 10:39
RI: Drive to Legoland and find a marked Carrousel ride
Cathi does the RB (she is an English teacher) she can't find the theater on the map.
Tommy does the RB
Amani & Marcus 11:43
-
Cathi is doing the roadblock. Tommy is doing the roadblock. Cathi couldn't find the theatre on the bicycle map, but she asks for directions.
Amani & Marcus depart at 11:43 AM. They say how much money they get. But I didn't hear it. Amani is doing the roadblock. Marcus is distracting Amani. :lol3:
-
Amani will do the Roadblock. Marcus taunts her so she can remember better.
-
Amani is reciting. And it was dramatic. She gets a bravo as well. Amani finishes the roadblock. They're out of there in 2nd.
-
Cathi messes up.
"I'm sorry. That is not satisfactory."
-
Jeremy & Sandy depart at 12:08 PM.
There's a spider on my wall right now... I'm freaking out. (:;) Be right back.
-
Amani passes Cathi and Tommy to the performance, and finishes in 2nd place.
Cathi performs 3rd but fails. Tommy is still lost
Jeremy & Sandy finally depart at 12:08
Sandy does the Roadblock and she runs into Cindy.
Ernie & Cindy get to Legoland and get their box.
Teams should put together a lego puzzle of Hamburg Hauptbahnhof
-
Cathi arrives at the theater again, followed by Tommy. A very dramatic reading by Cathi and she gets an ovation, finishing in third. Tommy performs fourth, he's not showing any emotion like everybody else does, but recites it correctly. However, the judge fails him because he was lame. Sandy steps in.
-
Ernie & Cindy arrive. They have to put together these Lego pieces only while the pirate ride is in motion. When it's not in motion, they can't do anything. When it's pieced together, the pieces will tell the next location.
Cathi gets a bravo.
Tommy isn't being dramatic. He's just reciting it. "MORE DRAMA, PLEASE. I need you to bring life to the words!" Cathi warned him. :groan:
-
Why did Tommy exit the theater? ??? He just need more drama.
OMG PLEASE BILL AND CATHI SURVIVEEEEE
-
So far with Legoland, this is the greatest leg. Let's hope nothing screws this up.
-
Why did Tommy exit the theater? ??? He just need more drama.
OMG PLEASE BILL AND CATHI SURVIVEEEEE
If they fail they have to ride back to the statue before they can try again.
-
Sandy needs more drama. :lol3:
Bill & Cathi arrive at Legoland.
Tommy... isn't a theatre person. He manages to get a very good. He gets the clue.
Sandy gets a bravo. She gets the clue.
Ernie & Cindy know where it is. But they still have to put together the puzzle.
-
"Drama for your mama" says Tommy. Sandy does a slam-style, but she's also lame, as per the judge. Bill & Cathi ride to Legoland. Tommy is pissed, which pleases Jeremy. Tommy is being so snarky and dark-humored...and I love it. He gets the clue and high-fives Sandy on his way out.
Sandy gets the clue in last place. Ernie & Cindy are still spinning, the ride ends, but they weren't able to put their photo together. Now they know where to go but they need to try again. They succeed.
RI: Teams must drive to Hamburg.
-
Ernie & Cindy finish the puzzle. Teams have to drive to Hamburg Train Station in Germany.
Amani & Marcus are doing the puzzle now. Amani hates... spinny things. Their pieces are flying everywhere. Amani thinks she's about to throw up. There's a barf bag on the ground.
Bill & Cathi are lost.
-
Andy has a HUGEEEEE map. Takes up the entire back of the car.
Tommy: You know what they say about people with big maps... There's a lot of places to go. :lol3:
Bill & Cathi are really lost.
Amani & Marcus finish the puzzle. They're out in 2nd.
Tommy loved Lego as a kid.
Jeremy & Sandy arrive at Legoland.
-
Amani doesn't like twirling around. "Oh snap" says Marcus. They fail. Bill & Cathi are lost. Amani is about to throw up and fails again. Bill & Cathi stop at a restaurant but they can't understand the person. Amani and Marcus finally solve the puzzle. Andy & Tommy arrive at Legoland.
Jeremy & Sandy follow suit. No sign of Bill & Cathi.
-
One of Jeremy & Sandy's pieces flew off the cart and they didn't notice. Both teams fail. Ernie & Cindy made it to Germany, Ernie confuses dialect with accent. JS and AT fail again. Sandy is about to barf.
Bill & Cathi find help at the Hilton
-
The Lego pieces are flying all over the place.
Sandy is dizzy. And she wants to throw up.
Ernie & Cindy arrive in Germany.
Jeremy & Sandy are losing their pieces on the ground.
Bill & Cathi finally got directions.
Andy & Tommy finish the puzzle. Now they're making barfing noises.
-
Andy & tommy are done and spin their cup faster. Jeremy & Sandy realize that they are missing a piece, Sandy is breaking down.
-
And its commercials now.. :( haha!
-
Where art thou Bill and Cathi? :'(
Jeremy and Sandy's one lego piece is somewhere in the grounds outside the cup.
-
Bill and Cathi is no good with directions :(
Byebye guys
-
Poor Sandy. It can't be fun when you're that dizzy! However, I'm pretty good with the Tilt-a-Whril, so I might've been all right with this one.
Belle Book
-
Jeremy & Sandy have to get a new puzzle because they lost one piece. :(
Ernie & Cindy arrive at the train station. Travel by train to Brussels. 3rd country in this leg! Then they have to go to the European Parliament building.
There's only one train to Brussels. Ernie & Cindy forget their train tickets on the ground? I don't know what just happened.
Jeremy & Sandy finish the puzzle. Bill & Cathi FINALLY arrive. Cathi: "This is going to be a treat."
WAIT. I JUST NOTICED. THE FIRST CLUEBOX THIS ENTIRE RACE?
Bill & Cathi finish the puzzle. Bill wants a hot dog. Cathi wants a slurpee. Bill: "My crackers were about to fall out."
-
And back, Jeremy & Sandy decide to get a new box because of their missing piece. They try again. Ernie & Cindy make it to Hbf and
RI: ride to Brussels via Cologne by train where they must find the Parliament. There's a drawing of the outline of Belgium.
The next train departs after midnight, they lose their ticket on their way out of the ticketing office. Jeremy & Sandy complete the challenge.
Bill & Cathi arrive at Legoland. Andy & Tommy arrive to the train station 2nd.
Bill wants a Hot Dog and Cathi wants a Slurpee
Amani & Marcus get there third, followed shortly by Jeremy & Sandy
Ernie & Cindy realize they lost their tickets. They go back to the office. They lost the tickets for the Cologne-Brussels leg and don't have enough money to buy new ones.
-
Everybody's on the first train from Hamburg to Cologne. They try to talk with the conductor, but they lost their receipts as well. Ernie: "this could be our fatality"
-
Ernie & Cindy can't find their tickets. They still have lots of time... but they can't find it. They don't have enough money for more tickets. Cindy is going to break down. Ernie is comforting her. :hrt:
Sandy and Andy tease Bill & Cathi by asking them if they got an earlier ride.
Ernie & Cindy are talking to the train conductor. It's not possible to print out new tickets... And they don't have their receipts. THAT'S WHY YOU ALWAYS TAKE YOUR RECEIPTS!
-
Wow,this episode is soooo good!
-
Too many commercials
-
Cindy is disappointed. :(
They arrive at Cologne and now have to go to Brussels.
Ernie & Cindy got on the train... without their tickets. They're lucky that nobody checked for tickets. :lol3:
-
Teams are arriving at Cologne and Cindy is beating herself up. Ernie & Cindy boarded without their tickets. They got lucky because no one checked for their tickets.
-
:hoot:Yep they never check tickets
-
Bill & Cathi got the first taxi. Andy & Tommy got the second taxi.
Bill & Cathi got the clue. ROUTE INFO? ROUTE INFO? ROUTE INFO? WHAT IS THIS. The body building thing is an active route info. (:;) Teams have to earn a score of 12 or more from the judges.
-
Cathi: "Oh dear."
Andy or Tommy for the title.
Cindy: "WHAT ARE YOU WEARING?"
-
Bill & Cathi got the first taxi, followed by the boys. Bill & Cathi find the clue.
The posedown is to honor Jean Claude van Damme, it's an Active Route Info. Suddenly modesty hit Cathi. One of Andy or Tommy say the title. Cathi is mortified.
-
Cathi and bill have the eliminated faces
-
Tanning time. :lol3: I can't stop laughing.
Tommy is not comfortable in the speedo.
I can't stop laughing...
-
First step is the fake spray-tan. Tommy was really uncomfortable. Everybody caught up. Marcus explains the logic behind the tanning. AT's friendship "has just hit a whole new leve". Ernie is self-confident. They go to the posing tutorial.
-
Andy & Tommy's friendship has hit a whole new level.
Bill & Cathi's kids are going to laugh.
Cindy thinks Ernie looks sexy. Ernie is very confident with tan on.
-
Amani remembers this move by accidentally hitting someone on the head on an elevator. And then quickly putting her arm back. :lol3:
Ernie & Cindy get 9 points. They have to do it again.
-
Ernie & Cindy pose first. They get 9, so they fail, Ernie gets critiqued. Cindy is disappoint. Andy & Tommy are next, they score 4, "the routine is not perfect, and try to smile"
-
Andy & Tommy... ONLY GET 4 POINTS. :lol3: :lol3: :lol3:
Amani is so cool. Marcus gets really into it when they're performing. And they get 12 points. Exactly. Make your way to the next pitstop. Parc Elisabeth? Elizabeth?
-
Amani has got it. She and Marcus are next. He's enjoying it. They score a perfect 12 and must make their way to Parc Elizabeth, the Pit Stop.
-
Andy & Tommy try again. and get 5, "there is no improvement, because the details are not there". OK, there's the Detour clue in Amani's hand.
-
Amani has a detour clue in her I think...
-
Andy & Tommy aren't doing very well. They actually got booed...
Ernie & Cindy are doing it again. The audience gets really into it. Women stood up and clapped for Ernie. And they got 12 points.
Amani & Marcus' cab driver don't know where the place is.
Ernie & Cindy on their way to the pit stop.
Bill & Cathi got 3 points... Ouch.
-
Bill and Cathi :( goodbye
-
Ernie & Cindy try again, and get a 12. Bill & Cathi take the stage and get their lowest score 3 "try to hit the poses". Jeremy & Sandy try it and get 13, hooray.
-
Amani & Marcus vs. Ernie & Cindy for the win. Amani & Marcus get their second first place. They win a trip to Panama (spoilers, much?) and OMG it's a TBC!
-
Jeremy & Sandy got two standing ovations... Lots of women standing up. :lol3: They got 13 points.
Amani & Marcus arrive at the pit stop in first. There's a mini band. Amani & Marcus win a trip to Panama.
Oh man. The next leg starts immediately after they received their prize.
TO BE CONTINUED...
-
TBC with Amani and Marcus!
-
The lack of Bill & Cathi's confessional at the Atomium makes me think they don't make it :(
-
Lol at them going to Panamas
-
Next week: trash talk, racing, no sign of BC...
-
Next week on The Amazing Race...
The race continues in Belgium.
The trash talk heats up. It seems like Andy & Tommy are barely ahead of Marcus & Amani at this point.
Teams go full throttle. They're driving like crazy on this race course.
-
I'm not surprised that it was a TBC leg. I figured it would be one.
I'm glad the concern over Ernie & Cindy's tickets were much ado about nothing.
I just noticed no sign of Bill & Cathi in the promos for the next leg. Not a good sign for them.
Belle Book

A zero hour pitstop saves this leg from being terrible due to an end of leg equalizer. Bill & Cathi will probably be saved here because if they weren't, they would have just shown it in this episode, and it is about time for a Non-elimination leg. But then again, they weren't shown in the previews. :ascared But on the other hand, if they showed all five teams in the previews, there wouldn't be any suspense.
-
Term correction, this is not a TBC, it's a KRL (keep-racing leg).
-
Term correction, this is not a TBC, it's a KRL (keep-racing leg).
What's the difference? I thought they were the same thing.
-
The new version of TBC includes a pit stop that is called a pit stop and a first place prize. Originally they just went to a random place and got a clue from Phil. Sometimes they didn't know he would be there.
-
The lack of Bill & Cathi's confessional at the Atomium makes me think they don't make it :(
It seems that way :'(
-
Leg 9 is a normal leg, but with no rest period. (Teams are warned that a last place team may be eliminated, Phil checks in the teams, and a prize for the first place team is announced) but there is no rest period. The TBC legs might have had Phil at the mid point, but there was no clue directing them to a "pit stop" and warning that a last place team may be eliminated; teams did get a clue to "just keep racing."
Also, all teams now have a 5-5 spilt on the roadblocks for the season to date. With three legs left, this implies this may be a season where a 7-6 Roadblock split may be permitted, or there is a leg remaining with no roadblock.
-

They've been my favorite ever since... that muscle task really screwed them... :'( :'( :'(

So...two roadblocks on the finale again?

There was a leg with two roadblocks, the second leg in Phuket.
-
By any chance, will Phil eliminate the last team on the mat for this leg? He said the the next leg happens RIGHT NOW, making it a zero-hour pitstop.
Last time we had it in S18, Phil's words were:
"You can enjoy that after the race, but right now you are still racing, here's your next clue."
In S14:
"This leg is not yet over you are still racing, here's your next clue."
... which might explain the lack of Bill and Cathi in the Previews. BUT HECK, IF THEY DO ELIMINATE A TEAM AT THE START, WORST TWIST EVER. Gloomy start.
-
Is there a chance E/C will get a penalty for taking the train without a ticket? Just because no one checks, doesn't make it legal.
-
The fact that there was already a two-roadblock leg doesn't rule out another such leg, but there hasn't been a Race with two "regular" legs with two roadblocks.
There's nothing precluding an elimination at the pit stop preceding a no rest period break into the following leg, but we haven't had that happen with the previous no rest period legs, and by definition, it would not have happened with a TBC leg. We still have one more NEL leg left, so leg 9 (which is the one we're in the middle of) could fit that.
The thing about Ernie and Cindy is that they did buy a train ticket, but they lost it at the train station. It's not like to stole a ride on the train to Brussels. But I have no idea how this will work as far as penalties, so we'lll have to wait and see what happens next week.
-
Penalties wouldn't save Bill/Cathi, we have our final 4 :-[
-
Phil showing us how to do it with ATTITUDE!
-
Well, when Amani & Marcus stop to search for the park, we see the Detour clue, I wonder what the other option was and why neither AT or BC chose to switch...
-
The Leg has ended , next leg of the race, means last team will be eliminated or given a speedbumb or penality

Yeah, I can see them being lenient since they DID buy a ticket. But if you get on a train without a ticket, it's still illegal. They had no proof of purchase from what it looked like and had they been caught it could have been a legal issue with a fine. The example I brought up while watching is that here in Toronto and the surrounding area, you buy your GO ticket before you get on the train and they trust you bought it. Sometimes, transit safety comes around and checks whether you have a ticket, if you don't, it's a $170 fine since you are then technically trespassing.
I like Ernie and Cindy and they are one of my picks to win but I think they definitely deserve a penalty for what they've done.
ETA: Then again, did teams only get a penalty for speeding if they were caught? I vaguely remember a penalty that involved 2 minutes/mph they were going over the speed limit plus some base but I don't remember if that was only if they were caught.
-
The only time they've announced Race proper penalties for speeding was in areas where they felt like there were very legit safety reasons for a hard speed limit. Absent that, it's at your own risk of having to deal with the ticket fines. (I can remember at least one team getting busted in New Zealand a few seasons back.)
Production has also apparently limited Racers speeds to below the posted limit for other safety issues. Reports on TWOP are that Millie & Chuck's elimination came from that kind of thing- they were so sleep deprived that they kept weaving across the centerline on a two lane road, got hit with a 50 kph or so speed limit from production to keep from killing their camera crew and causing insurance costs for the show to spike, and the result was that they got passed by a team not facing that speed limit, which significantly contributed to their elimination.
-
I remember that!
On the ticket-less train ride, they do have proof of having bought tickets: Roll Tape !

This are the speed penalties in TAR history
1. Andy & Laura: 92-min penalty starting next leg (30 minutes + 2 min x number of km over speed limit which in their case was 42km) b
2. Nick & Starr: 30 min penalty Leg 4, never shown
3. Terence & Sarah: 30 min penalty next leg, pushed them from 3rd to 5th
-
Never mind...

If so then there would have to be another NEL at the end of leg 10 which doesn't seem likely.
-
Amani has got it. She and Marcus are next. He's enjoying it. They score a perfect 12 and must make their way to Parc Elizabeth, the Pit Stop.
If one of the judges could award a 5 (which one did for Jeremy and Sandy), then 4 is not the maximum and 12 is a minimum level for moving on but not a perfect score (note that Jeremy and Sandy got 13).

I was recapping live and at that time, I thought 4 was the maximum because a 5 hadn't been awarded yet.

redskevin88, this is incomplete:

TAR 2 had two such penalties on the same task in its leg in Namibia, and IIRC, there was another one in the early seasons, but I'd have to research it to tell you which one that was. It was not the Millie-Chuck one, as it wasn't their speeding, but their inability to drive safely that came into play.
