It could be a zero-hour Pit Stop like Sydney and Lijiang in TAR 18. While B/C could be eliminated, I'd think that given the structure of the leg they would be spared elimination. Moreover, airing an elimination in the first 10 minutes of the show would be fairly anticlimactic since the final NEL would then be in Ghent.

One thing I noticed from the Atomium confessionals: A/T, E/C, and A/M are all in t-shirts and maybe a light jacket; comparatively, J/S are both in puffer jackets. I'd wager this is because they're both cold since their confessionals are being filmed later than the other teams' because they're last.

B/C Could be later and are in jackets too. Did you see their confessional?

I don't think we know who's eliminated, we need better information.

I don't think it's a big offense, but if the amazing race gives a 15 minute penalty for losing a paintbrush, who knows.

That's what I was thinking! Then again, Andy and Tommy used the map then asked for directions...shouldn't it count for them also?

Post by: Lpadres on November 20, 2011, 11:23:30 PM: Wait a minute...I was doing some investigating and I noticed something! If episode 9 was Belgium 1, this makes episode 10 Belgium 2. After that, we know episode 11 is Panama, and episode 12 is Atlanta! So that means either no one is eliminated this leg and continue to compete in the next episode OR someone is eliminated in this episode (Bill and Cathi judging by the promo) and there is a NEL in episode 10! Now, its just a matter of figuring it out.

In Sydney and China he said'this leg of the race is not over yet'. Assuming a speedbump or something for Bill and Cathi if non elimination
I don't know what Zero pitstop is,Phil will say 'This leg is not over' than last team checking in wouldn't recieve any additional penalties,

Since there are now 3 legs left and 2 teams to be eliminated, there is no choice but for all remaining legs except the finale to be elimination legs.

PS: Have you ever seen TAR from the beginning? At the end of Episode 1, do we have a preview featuring over 10 teams for the following leg? I think everything is clear enough.

Not having Bill and Cathy is probably a red herring. It would also make sense that it was non-elimination as in TAR 18, the first and 4th legs, which also ended and immediately restarted, also were non-elimination.

That also reminds me, if Cindy/Ernie or others are facing a penalty, remember that in TAR 18, Kent and Vxysin also had a penalty, but it was not enforced until the next 12-hour pit stop.

So, I also could picture Cindy and Ernie being told of the penalty, but then told "You are still racing" as it would not be enforced until the end of the next leg.

This is not in the same league with a 4 hour train ride followed by a 4 hour wait and then a 2 hour train ride to get from Hamburg to Cologne to Brussels.

The distance from Copenhagen to Billund is 135 miles (approximately a 2.5 hour drive with superhighways) and the distance from Billund to Hamburg is 154 miles, which I think is also a 2.5 hour drive. Either is 3 times as long as the trip from Brussels to Ghent.

What I saw and what has developed since does not in any way tell me it was an NEL. It was clearly listed on my telecast as TBC. I understand that there are now nuances to TBCs, but none that can turn them into NELs. Now, please understand that by definition a ToBeContinued means that nobody is eliminated. We knew that when Phil appeared at the pit stop with no greeter. Is there a SpeedBump to be performed by the last place team (whoever that turns out to be between Andy/Tommy and Bill/Cathi on the leg 9 carry-over into the beginning of leg 10) later in leg 10? I say no, but if I am wrong then maybe your theory is correct.

You need to be careful with your terms. NEL has meant different things in past Amazing Races, but now it means a SpeedBump is given as a penalty to the NonEliminated last place team to be performed by only that team when it comes up in the next leg. It is not totally clear that there is no SpeedBump in leg 10, but I think it's quite unlikely. As I said, we'll see.

As to the greeter, that was not a greeter (there was nothing) with Phil behind the mat even though one of the 4 musicians in front of the mat did say something approximating "Welcome to Elisabeth Parc, Brussels" as Marcus and Amani arrived.

Yes but that is what is what I was implying. We know they will not be eliminated during the start of episode 10. But this is a confessional for the end of the next leg. Not the end/ start of last Sundays episode 9.

Because I think they did get their tickets technically, but lost it. So it's not like they purposely did it or what. I think when the producers were filming, they were definitely wishing for tickets to be checked so that there's more drama. BUT, it didn't happen.. so they let it go! :lol:

Because I think they did get their tickets technically, but lost it. So it's not like they purposely did it or what. I think when the producers were filming, they were definitely wishing for tickets to be checked so that there's more drama. BUT, it didn't happen.. so they let it go! :lol:

I don't think they will be penalised, but I personally think that there should be a race rule that someone should be penalised if they travel without a ticket. I personally think there should be some sort of rule like this, but I don't think there is. :duno:

And Bill is already suited up, so this is probably just as they've parked up ready to leave the circuit. So I'm guessing that the guy in the background is simply the safety driver, and he's just finished walking around the car to enter the driver's side in order to take the car somewhere else.

look at most of the examples so far, speeding while driving, not having your travel documents, not settling your bill (usually a cab), ect.

And none of those real life situations apply.

Speeding is a huge, huge safety issue not just for arcs, but film crew, and locals. Completely understandable reasons to prohibit and punish.

Travel documents are required to make further progress, so either way race is over for team, also it's very scary losing your passport in another country you can't stress enough for teams to keep them.

Race documents, a way to make sure teams actual complete all tasks in a leg, again necessary to ensure fair play.

Settling yor bills, again cheating locals of money is certainly no way to race, teams would due it all the time. It's one thing for locals to over charge ( which does happen if you travel ) its another to basically give racers card Blanche to cheat locals.

Losing a ticket that was already paid for, and wasn't got by any ticket agent, seems like no penalty to me, nor does it seem lie it should have one.

Big thing is the speedometer is in a lot of caps, the 160 mph may play a role. ALso they do a weave in and out of cones as well..

This is what Google maps gives me about the two addresses. In fact it presents Steenweg op Ukkel as a bigger road than Stoofstraat, even though it was more difficult for teams to find it.
On the left side of the picture you can the exit from the highway to Berseel, the teams had to take that exit and half of them turn right and the other left. Of course we don't know any local peculiarities, perhaps oneway?, that could cause trouble for the teams.

It's not often that Google streetview releases imagery just in time for our purposes; usually, it's months late. But just this month Belgium (http://google-latlong.blogspot.com/2011/11/street-view-comes-to-beautiful-belgium.html) was released. So you can verify for yourself. I've included episode caps from the caravan camping park and the private residence of the VP of a pigeon club. Use the addresses on the card to verify the viewpoints. Bonus: check out where E/C asked for directions (lost,lost,lost :lol:).
