Not sure which topic this goes in but RFF got a shout out from Andy. http://www.realityblurred.com/realitytv/archives/the_amazing_race_20/2011_Nov_27_rachel-brendon-racing#disqus_thread

Interesting article! Is RFF really a "stalking site"? Andy Denhart thinks so but I would call it a"freedom of information act" site. Most interesting is "The site’s moderator had a cameo this season because of a contestant’s lost passport." This was only on the Internet and in the New York Times as far as I know. Did one of our moderators actually get televised and we all missed it? How would that be possible, particularly since it looked to me that World Race Productions was doing everything possible to not give RFF any shout-out on camera for the passport incident resolution?
-
The text of the tweet shown on air I believe came from peach. She wasn't credited but if you recognized it you could tell.
-
Peach was described as the uberfan, but it was my twitter handle that was visible on screen.
Unfortunately, no lost passports in LA this season.
-
RFF got credited with having pictures of the Brenchel couple at LAX in a column in the Orange County Register.

I believe this columnist has reported on our activities in the past.

Phil:
Meanwhile, Amazing Race fans will be interested to know he recently wrapped taping of the next season -- the 20th -- which he (natch) promises will be full of twists and turns. It premieres Feb. 19 (details here).
They did it super fast in these budget-crunching times (22 days, which is shorter than in the past). "It was insane," he says. "It's like (throwing) a new party in a new country every day" -- lots of last-minute arrangements and changes. Plus, with a lot of popular, easy-to-reach spots already used, "we're going to out-of-the-way places ... it's getting harder from a production standpoint."

Heee...I count 24.

what so that mean these season short that might mean it 11 leg
-
ZBC, I don't think it means 11 legs necessarily at all. It does suggest that the no rest legs are becoming even more of a staple, and suggests that the "out of the way" places are making it even harder for them to be spotted during filming.

the show is probably getting tired of being spoiled..
-
Naw....they love us!! :lol3:
-
I honestly don't think producers are bothered at all about location spoilers. The only spoilers they absolutely do NOT want released are anything that gives away the race results. And I don't think the spoilability of a location would ever affect their choice of race route.
-
Production might mind about locations, but I love Phil's comment best. See my sig. :)

I missed your sig. I was so dense that I never made a connection between your Gone With The Wind quotes and the final leg of TAR 19 being in Atlanta. :colors :groan:
I'd say that Production isn't too happy if we spoil locations, but I think they are really unhappy if we spoil how teams do.

CBS aired a "The Amazing Race 20" promo during the first quarter of the AFC Championship Game this afternoon. First time I've seen them refer to a season by number in the promo in a long, long time.

Ahh, I'm watching the game right now but we get stuck with our rubbish English ads! Was there any footage from the season or was it just a teaser?
-
There were a few quick footage clips. I didn't get a good look at it though, sadly. Hopefully, CBS will show it again during the game.
-
I am watching the game but I missed it :(

If someone can watch CBS from 7-9 tonight we will try to snag it! Give us a time if you spot it!

Are any of the scenes new? I don't recall the ultra light plane and I don't recognize one or two of the teams. With my memory, that doesn't mean much though.

is team going reavled today
-
is team going reavled today
My guess has been possibly this week or maybe next week, but I'd be very surprised if CBS waits that long.

All the scenes look to be from previous seasons, I believe the plane is from season 11 or 16.
I can verify that neither AR11 or AR16 had an ultralight plane. AR16 did have World War I triplanes.
-
Then what season is it from?
It was Season 12, Leg 7, where one team member had to fly over the fields of Tuscany to find the word 'Vinci'.
-
Exactly what i fault it was. It was a girl there i think. Cristina?

So, anyone know who that awesome "THIS IS AMAAAAAZZZZIIIINNNGGG!" line is from?
That's Tara sliding down the sand dunes from TAR2, but it's not her yelling. It's totally throwing me off and bugging me. lol My first thought was Mirna.
-
^I think its from Jennifer (of Nate and Jen)
-
Yes! Its definitely Jennifer!
"Woooooooh! Oh my gosh! This is Amazing! Oh my gosh!... Deeeeetour!"
Sound clip taken from the tandem zipline at Fort Bokar, Croatia (TAR 12, Episode 6) :D

If you pause the promo on YouTube, you'll see that Oswald and Danny are included at one point (think it's from TAR:AS season 11).

via this article (http://www.eonline.com/news/watch_with_kristin/amazing_race_announces_season_20_cast/289019):
Like a nasty cold sore, Big Brother's Rachel Reilly and Brendon Villegas just keeping coming back.
The oft-reviled reality romancers are competing again on the small screen as teammates on The Amazing Race's 20th season, CBS announced today.
Rachel, last season's Big winner, first met—and hooked up with—fiancé Brendon as houseguests on the claustrophobic series' 12th installment. Their Big Brother showmance continued last summer alongside fellow vets Jordan Lloyd and Jeff Schroeder, who also competed on The Amazing Race (they were the sixth team eliminated on season 15).
Do Brenchel stand a chance against the other 10 Race teams, or are they battling a bunch of clowns?
Robert Voets/CBS
Make that a couple of clowns—two self-proclaimed "ambassadors of laughter" are among the globe-trotters whose stops will include Paraguay, Azerbaijan and Tanzania. In all the racers will visit five continents, 22 cities and nearly 40,000 miles.
Emmy-winning executive producer Bertram van Munster told us the route "is so off the wall and so crazy that it almost killed us. It's really very original—the whole ensemble, the cast and the route and the challenges are really unique, it's probably one of the best [seasons] we've ever done—and very competitive."
Because they all have the drive to win, van Munster revealed, we won't see season 20's sharing clues, and answers, that all but destroyed the competitive spirit in recent seasons. "These guys are not doing it [sharing information] this season," he assured us. "They get the drift. Sometimes it happens, but at the end of the day they have to all screw each other, if they want the million bucks."

via this article (http://www.seattlepi.com/ae/tv/tvguide/article/Amazing-Race-Welcomes-Big-Brother-Vets-Married-2685338.php):
Big Brother winner Rachel Reilly may have walked out of the house with the $500,000 check last summer, but does she have what it takes to race around the world for the full million.
Reilly and her Big Brother fiancé, Brendon Villegas, form one of the 11 new teams taking off on the 20th installment of CBS' The Amazing Race (premiering Sunday, February 19 at 8pm/ET). Fresh off of its eighth Outstanding Reality Competition Emmy win, Race will make first-time visits to Paraguay and Azerbaijan this season. The 40,000-mile course will also have contestants skydiving in Argentina and sampling some of Italy's culinary treats.
Check out the complete list of teams below, including married clowns, a pair of federal agents and dating divorcees. Whom will you be rooting for?

"The Amazing Race" is putting clowns against federal agents for its 20th season. Former "Big Brother" cast members Rachel Reilly, and her fiance Brendon Villegas, will also compete in the race.
This season, the teams will travel across five continents, 22 cities and close to 40,000 miles, visiting Paraguay and Azerbaijan for the first time in the history of CBS's "The Amazing Race."
Challenges on Season 20 include skydiving in Argentina, training with Masai warriors in Tanzani and a race through Africa's "Garden of Eden." The competitors will also face a food challenge in Italy and search King Ludwig's quarters in the German castle that was the inspiration for the castle in "Sleeping Beauty."
The new season of the CBS reality series kicks off Sun., Feb. 19 at 8 p.m. EST. Meet the cast below.

It could have been that. I think she says "I'm sorry I can't do things under pressure."

Anton/Bauer Provides Rock-Solid Dependability For “The Amazing Race” As It Treks Across The Globe
PVC News Staff | 02/06
The Amazing Race uses Anton/Bauer to ensure all cameras have enough power to capture every exciting moment the contestants encounter.
Since their first day of production back in 2001, crew members of the hit reality television series “The Amazing Race” have counted on Anton/Bauer® products to power them through even the toughest geographic and weather conditions.
Flash forward to the present, as the show concluded its 20th season, and Anton/Bauer, a brand of The Vitec Group and a premier global provider of batteries, chargers, lighting and other mobile power systems for the professional broadcast, video and film industries, still helps the crew capture each and every adventure—no matter where the show takes them in the world.
The eight-time Emmy Award-winning reality series pits 11 teams, each comprising two members, against each other on a trek around the world for approximately 25 days. At each destination, the teams compete in a series of challenges, some mental and some physical, only learning of their next location when the tasks are completed. The first team to arrive at the final destination wins $1 million.
“The Amazing Race is essentially a constantly moving, live-to-tape game show with no rehearsals or retakes,” explains Jim Ursulak, audio supervisor for the show. “With all the moving parts, there is great potential for things to go horribly wrong very quickly, so we equip ourselves with the most reliable television production equipment available.”
The show’s audio supervisor for 15 of its 20 seasons, Ursulak’s responsibilities include prepping all the camera and sound equipment the program takes on the road, including Anton/Bauer batteries, chargers and on-camera lighting products. Although crew members have tried other on-camera lights in the past, according to Ursulak, the Ultralight 2 (UL2) is the best fit. “Its simple design, rugged construction and dependable operation regardless of weather conditions makes it a winner with us,” he says. The Ultralight System provides creative options and flexibility to achieve the perfect light for any shot quickly and seamlessly. Featuring the integral PowerTap cable, which plugs directly into the PowerTap receptacle on all Gold Mounts®, the Ultralight System shares power with the camera from a single battery. The compact, lightweight UL2 base is the foundation of this quick-change system which provides head modules for tungsten (Ultralight 2), HMI (UltraDAYlight) and LED (ULHM-LED) lighting options.
When it comes to battery power, The Amazing Race uses the Anton/Bauer HyTRON 140 and DIONIC® 90 to ensure all Sony cameras have enough power to capture in real time every exciting moment the contestants encounter. The HyTRON 140 is a high-power NiMH battery system suited to the power demands of today’s high-definition equipment and on-camera lighting systems. In lower power applications, it can provide power for many hours without limits or travel restrictions. The HyTRON 140 also offers an excellent counterbalance to offset the weight of a lens. “We are limited to the number of batteries we take with us on the road by the weight each two-person camera crew can carry on their back. One third of the 100 pounds shared by each 2 person camera crew (the camera and sound person) is related to powering the camera. By careful battery management, and when possible, support from production, the crew is able to arrive at each pit stop with their contestants’ stories captured on tape/disc,” says Ursulak.
The DIONIC 90 was designed by Anton/Bauer to deliver consistently reliable performance even in the most challenging shooting environments on Earth. It offers a RealTime® display that continually updates the operator on how much run time remains and on the state of the current charge. Weighing only 1.7 pounds, the DIONIC 90 can be transported without restriction under the IATA and DOT safety regulations (http://www.antonbauer.com/Support/TransportationInformation (http://www.antonbauer.com/Support/TransportationInformation)). The 91-WH battery can handle a maximum load of six amps, and offers run-times ranging from six hours at 15 watts to 1.75 hours at 50 watts.
To ensure all batteries are ready for superior performance, no matter where filming takes the crew, Anton/Bauer’s T2, Dual 2722, and QUAD 2702 chargers have always performed very well for the team. “Our latest find, however, introduced to us by Anton/Bauer’s [Vice President of Sales, The Americas] Paul Dudeck, is the Tandem 70,” says Ursulak. “Its compact size, quick charging rate, reliability and silent operation has made it our camera crew’s favorite charger. They can be packed away in different backpacks and accessed easily when needed, including when we need to charge them on the go on trains and even on some planes. Because of their reliability, convenient portability and silent operation, I cannot imagine us doing another season without them.”
Whether the production team is prepping in the United States or halfway around the world, Ursulak says that Anton/Bauer’s Customer Support team is always with them to provide custom solutions. “The Amazing Race uses Anton/Bauer products because it requires proven dependability and worldwide acceptance of the television production equipment it uses as it moves around the world. Also, Anton/Bauer has clearly demonstrated to us their genuine interest and high level of commitment to the needs of their equipment users.”
About Anton/Bauer
Anton/Bauer is recognized as the world’s innovator and premier provider of batteries, chargers, lighting and other key mobile power systems for the professional broadcast, video and film industries. Based in the United States in Shelton, CT with offices in Europe and Asia, Anton/Bauer was established in 1970 and has expanded its product offerings to include many signature lines such as its leading Gold Mount® system, InterActive® chargers and Logic Series® batteries such as the HyTRON® 50, 100 and 140, and DIONIC® 90, 160, HC and HCX. Their products are compatible with virtually every camera brand on the market today. Other Anton/Bauer high performance products include the Ultralight®, ElipZ®, ElightZ®, CINE VCLX and CINE VCLX/2. Their superior-quality products have become an industry standard. For more information on Anton/Bauer, visit http://www.antonbauer.com (http://www.antonbauer.com/).

http://communityvoices.sites.post-gazette.com/index.php/arts-entertainment-living/tuned-in-journal/31924-the-amazing-race-is-on-the-run-again
CBS's "The Amazing Race" is back for its 20th run at 8 p.m. Sunday, followed by a new episode of "The Good Wife."
This time around the "Race" features a couple from a past edition of "Big Brother" (Brendon Villegas and Rachel Reilly), two "Jersey Shore" wannabes, male twins and a couple of clowns. (Seriously, they're a husband and wife who work for a circus.)
While "Race" has always been a personal favorite among the network reality competition series, it does feel like it's starting to get a little old at this point.
Read more after the jump. ...
While I'm not as disappointed in "Race" as some critics are, I've mostly just grown bored with the format.
At this point, the series has shown viewers so much of the world that the travelogue aspect is sort of old hat. And inserting characters from other shows (the "Big Brother" contestants this season) or inspired by other shows (the self-proclaimed Guidos, at right) feels like a desperate ratings ploy. That's especially true when Rachel exclaims, "We are not here to make friends. We are gere to win a million dollars." Yawn. We've heard that line a dozen times before from reality competition contestants, why would "Race" editors choose to use that old saw again?
There are some likeable characters in the new season, including two best friends from Kentucky and the twins, pictured at left ("He's like my life partner, but we're not gay," one twins says, prompting guffaws from the other).
Other winning lines from Sunday's premiere:
- Brendon trash talks a team of border patrol agents: "I'm half-Mexican and I hate them for a reason."
- One female contestant exclaims during a skydiving compeition, "My uterus is in my throat!"
- "Bopper," one of the Kentucy competitors, exclaims while making empanadas, "This is the first time I've ever made a pinata!"
It's not like "The Amazing Race" has become a bad show, just sort of ho-hum. The thrill is gone.
-
Sounds like Brenda is already being a douche in episode 1 yay/sarcasm :groan: I like Rachel, Brenda not so much

Amazing Race's Phil Keoghan: You'd Be Crazy Not to Watch Because of Big Brother Duo
Phil Keoghan is gearing up for a big weekend. On Saturday, his documentary The Ride — in which he biked across the U.S. to raise money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society — premieres on Showtime at 8/7c. On Sunday, The Amazing Race returns for its 20th season (8/7c, CBS). "[The scheduling] was not planned. It just ended up being that way," Keoghan tells TVGuide.com. "The great thing is it's almost three years to the day I started my bike ride and we just hit the $1 million mark. Now the teams are starting their Race for $1 million. One's for charity and one's a race around the world, so it's pretty cool." What was planned though was having Racers start off their globe-trotting adventure on — what else? — bikes, and infusing the season with a wee bit more drama by casting everyone's favorite Big Brother couple they love to hate: Brendon and Rachel. We caught up with Keoghan to get the scoop on Season 20 and why it's not to be missed.
When I saw everyone biking to the Pit Start, I thought, "That's totally Phil's idea." Was it?
Phil Keoghan: [Laughs] I wish! It was pitched to me and I was asked if I liked it. I said, "Well, is the Queen English?" To which they said, "Yes, she is." And I said, "There you go! Of course I'll be open to that." ... Normally I'm on a building, I'm on a cliff, and they're being transported separately and we all meet at the starting line. This is the first time we're all heading to the starting line together. I love it because the Race is starting before it starts and you can see their personalities right away, like Bopper and Mark are weaving all over the place. Dave and Rachel are very steady and are getting frustrated with Bopper and Mark, who kept racing ahead.
Last year was the 10-year anniversary of the show's premiere, but it's Season 20 now — a nice, round and big number. Did you guys design this season with any goals in mind for this milestone?
Keoghan: You're right, even though last year was the official 10-year mark, this season was the pivotal mark for us. I don't think we were particularly looking to do anything special or different because one of the things we're all so proud of is that we've managed to make every season so exciting and so original. A lot of people who work on the show are big fans. When they come in, they bring that enthusiasm that is needed to keep a show like this fresh. We're going to Azerbaijan on the edge of Caspian Sea for the first time and it's a world unlike we've ever seen on the show. To look like a new show is a real testament to the longevity of this particular format and what has held this show in good stead and solid ratings.
You did play a big card, casting Brendon and Rachel, who might be the most divisive team ever.
Keoghan: Yeah, it's been quite controversial. I've had really interesting feedback. There are some fans who really just don't like that they're on. There are Racers right at the beginning who make it clear they don't like it. I don't really know why they think it's not fair. We've had known people on before, including Big Brother people. We don't have rules that say "you can't do this, you can't do that." ... But when you put a team in there who don't get a positive response, it's still a good thing. You want people to get stirred up. You want to have a team that people are going to talk about — and people are talking about them.
But even people who hate them are going to watch.
Keoghan: That's the thing. Do you hate them to a point where you're just not going to watch? Or do you watch because you don't like them? I think it's the latter. People would be crazy not to watch because of them. Trust me, you're gonna want to watch Brendon and Rachel. You will see a dynamic we've never had before. It's wild. Any other time we've cast known people, it's never been like this. We've never had a reaction to a team from other teams like we have — this animosity and tension.
Is there friction between other teams or does it all stem from Brendon and Rachel?
Keoghan: Yes and no. We have some very strong personalities and the strongest personalities are absolutely the women. Rachel's one of them, Vanessa's another, and they all clash. We have a good mix of people. We have some eye candy with the twin brothers. We've got the border patrol agents, who are all business, the federal agents who are women and tough as nails, but are also eye candy. Things just really clicked this season.
Do you watch Big Brother? Were you aware of them?
Kepghan: No. I don't watch a lot of TV. ... I had to literally hunt down clips and discover who they were and why people hate them so much. I saw why when I saw the clips. [Laughs] I realized, "OK! There you go." I think it's important to have an adversary. That's what life is like. There's no point in casting a show where everyone is perfect and no one pisses you off. Every day you're going to get rattled by somebody because they cut in front of you at the grocery store. Brendon and Rachel are, let's be honest, a truly unique relationship. Nobody should judge anybody in any relationship if it works, but it's definitely an out-of-the-ordinary connection. [Laughs] It's not your vanilla ice cream relationship. It's definitely a rocky road chocolate. I'm sure Ben and Jerry's has some crazy flavor that epitomizes what they are.
You still have the Express Pass, but no Hazard. Any new twists we should keep an eye out for?
Keoghan: Just little tweaks here and there. Right out of the gate, you've got teams leaping out of a plane at 14,000 feet sort of under false pretenses. But there's not gonna be a trick every task.
Is there any task we should look forward to or you were particularly fond of?
Keoghan: The stuff in Azerbaijan was really interesting because the culture is so centered around oil. There's a challenge where they have to get involved in oil, quite literally. It's very unique. ... Everywhere we go, we're always looking to tap into something that's ordinary there, but is extraordinary here. That's why we always look fresh. I think it's difficult for a variety type show where people are singing or dancing on a stage setting. I think they have a much tougher time looking fresh. "Let's try red gels instead of blue gels. Let's put balloons out instead of streamers." There are tricks you can do, but it's still less surprising because for the most part, it's still a performer on a stage. I think we're lucky that we're always able to explore and do new things.
Someone in the premiere has some car issues because he doesn't know how to drive stick. Why do people still come on not knowing how to drive stick after all these years?
Keoghan: I was hoping you'd tell me! What's up with that?! You do not get a license until you can drive stick in my opinion. I don't know what he was thinking. One word: moronic. I mean, seriously. We've been on 20 seasons, 10 years, and you come on not knowing how to drive a stick? ... It's like coming on and not knowing you have to fly to another country. It's one of those life skills, like how to swim. So [future] Racers, be warned: Learn to drive stick and learn to swim.
What's the latest on Season 21? Any more Big Brother teams on the docket?
Keoghan: [Laughs] We definitely got plenty of attention from this one. There'll be some other surprises, but I don't think it will be a Big Brother surprise. We are casting right now and scouting locations. Hopefully we'll go to some new places. It's usually logistics that get in the way. I've always wanted to go to Nepal and Bhutan... but it's very challenging to get in and out of there. What's incredible is that we've been on for long, yet we pull out the map and we see all the places that we haven't even touched.
The Amazing Race premieres Sunday at 8/7c on CBS. The Ride premieres Satruday at 8/7c on Showtime.

Well, thanks to that interview we have semi-official confirmation of TAR 21. It's a great interview, though.
How often has Phil ever had to research about a team beforehand? That's new. It does sound as if we can rule out Nepal or Bhutan for season 20; but sooner or later they'll hit on a solution too the logistics as I would love to see Mount Everest on the show. Also like the idea of Phil giving his opening spiel on a bike, riding with the Racers to the start line; that should make for an interesting opening.

Phil must have a short memory and he seems to be hyperbolizing again with "We've never had a reaction to a team from other teams like we have — this animosity and tension."
I still remember the reactions that Rob & Amber elicited.

So could be that either Nepal or Bhutan is the 7th country between Tanzania and Japan legs and a total of 8 countries for season 20? So it might looks like this:
legs 1 and 2 - Argentina
leg 3 - Paraguay
leg 4 - Germany
leg 5 - Italy
leg 6 - Azerbaijan
legs 7 and 8 - Tanzania
leg 9 - Nepal or Bhutan
legs 10 and 11 - Japan
final leg - Hawaii
-
No, topaz.... They are very clear that Nepal and Bhutan are NOT used. From the Phil Interviews, I am thinking that Paraguay and Azerbaijan are indeed our only new countries, which also rules out Laos...

Amazing Race's Phil Keoghan on Premiere's Crazy Finish: It Was the Most Bizarre Pit Stop Ever
Feb 19, 2012 09:25 PM ET
by Joyce Eng
Phil Keoghan[SPOILER ALERT: The following story contains the results of The Amazing Race 20 season premiere. Read at your own risk.]
There was no missing passport drama on the Season 20 premiere of The Amazing Race, but the final minutes served up what Phil Keoghan calls the "most bizarre Pit Stop we've ever had."
Amazing Race's Phil Keoghan: You'd be crazy not to watch because of Big Brother's Brendon and Rachel
Fighting for the last spot in the Top 10, sisters Misa and Maiya finished the empanada challenge before buddies Joey "Fitness" and Danny, and seemed on their way to safety at the Pit Stop behind the building. Instead, they ran out, looked around a few times and ran back inside — somehow missing Keoghan, the Pit Stop greeter and the production team who were visibly standing to their right. While they aimlessly searched the grounds, Joey and Danny arrived at the Pit Stop, ensuring the girls' elimination.
"I still cannot believe it happened," Keoghan tells TVGuide.com. "[CBS Entertainment President] Nina Tassler said to me the other day, 'Phil, the look on your face when you saw that they missed you, it's priceless.' I'm not going to call out, 'Hey, guys! I'm over here!' I'm just standing there going, 'Are you serious? You can't see me?'"
Keoghan estimates that they were about 80 yards apart. "I just thought they were taking their time," he says. "They could see me; I saw them. Everyone else saw me. We're standing there with cameras, the mat's there, the greeter's there. Short of having a flashing light above my head — we were there. Somehow they missed us, they went back into the building, went through the other side, walked all the way around the vineyards, then came back through the other side."
In the interim, Joey and Danny made no such mistake and checked in. The whole thing transpired in a matter of minutes, Keoghan says. Misa and Maiya followed the guys about a minute later. "They must still be ruing it," Keoghan says. "It's the most bizarre Pit Stop we've ever had. It was crazy. In the past, when teams missed the mat — not this close, obviously — they usually end up safe, but this was too close for them to avoid [elimination]."
So where does this shocker rank among Race's biggest moments?
"It's definitely a top 10 pivotal moment," Keoghan says. "It's one of those memorable moments, like Charla carrying the meat on her back [in Season 5] or Uchenna and Joyce getting onto the earlier flight [in the Season 7 finale]. In terms of finishes, there's Justin and Zev losing their passport [in Season 15], but outside of Chris and Alex outrunning Wil and Tara [for the $1 million in the Season 2 finale], I can't see how it gets any worse than this."

From TV GUIDE Magazine:
Today's News: Our Take
Cheers & Jeers: The Amazing Race's Shore Things
Feb 20, 2012 11:10 AM ET
by Bruce Fretts
Jeers to The Amazing Race for taking a detour to Jersey Shore territory.
CBS' Emmy-winning, long-running reality show has always distanced itself from its competitors by staying classy, but by casting Joey "Fitness" Lasalla and Danny Horal, they're just jumping on the GTL bandwagon. Though the trainer and the nightclub promoter are from Long Island, they were quick to liken themselves to MTV's self-proclaimed "Guidos," even referring to their abs as "the Solution."
Joey and Danny were almost eliminated in the season-opening episode but managed to survive after sisters Misa and Maiya couldn't find the finish line. Married couple Dave and Cherie may work for Ringling Bros., but there's no question who the real clowns are here.

This is a shocker, as this person did do work on TAR 20:
EXCLUSIVE: 'Amazing Race' advance man dies from poisoning in Africa
By Meaghan Murphy
Published February 21, 2012
| FoxNews.com
Tragedy has hit a team in charge of facilitating challenges for “The Amazing Race” and other reality shows on the continent of Africa, a source close to the show tells FoxNews.com.
At least two freelance facilitating producers were poisoned -- one fatally -- after a failed shakedown attempt, the source told FoxNews.com.
FoxNews.com also spoke with a person who identified herself as a family member who said the facilitator who died was Jeff Rice.
The family member said Rice's body was found in Uganda.
Details are sketchy, but the source said that after refusing to give in to the demands of local thugs, two facilitators, who help with the production of various reality shows, ended up very sick with poisoning of some kind.
Rice was not currently working on “The Amazing Race,” but he had worked on Season 20, which premiered on CBS on Sunday. Rice had also worked on Animal Planet's "Whale Wars" and the South African version of "The Biggest Loser," along with several other series and television movies.
A rep for Jerry Bruckheimer Films, the production company behind “The Amazing Race,” said that he had “no knowledge” of the incident.
CBS had no comment.
Facilitators are typically local people hired by production companies to make necessary arrangements with local officials before producers come in to shoot scenes for their shows.
“The Amazing Race” features multiple teams of two competing in a race around the world to win $1,000,000 in prize money. The series became a sensation when it first aired on CBS in September 2001 and continues to be one of the network's highest rated shows.

RIP. :(
Maybe this means Amazing Race was scouting Uganda as a location?
Since the article specifically says he was NOT working for TAR at the time, doubt it.
But this is very sad news, hope it proves to be wrong.
Adding that there appears to be no doubt.
Jeff was the facilitator for both the Malawi episodes. He leaves behnd a wife and three children, as well as other family.
Our sympathies go out to all of his family and friends, this is very sad new indeed.

RIP :(

EXCLUSIVE: Widow of 'Amazing Race' advance man Jeff Rice, found dead in Uganda, says poisoning suspected
By Meaghan Murphy
Published February 21, 2012

Production facilitator Jeff Rice, who worked for reality shows including the current season of 'The Amazing Race,' was found dead after a suspected poisoning.
Production facilitator Jeff Rice, who worked for reality shows including the current season of 'The Amazing Race,' was found dead in his hotel room in Kampala, Uganda, and his production assistant is clinging for her life after a suspected poisoning, says the man's grieving widow.
"They were not attacked but [evidence] points towards being poisoned," Rice's widow Sally Blackman tells FoxNews.com exclusively. "[A]t this stage it is quite difficult to give you any firm reports as the incident is currently under investigation by the Uganda police."

A source close to the show told FoxNews.com the two were allegedly poisoned after a failed shakedown attempt by local thugs. Blackman did not want to make any further assumptions about her husband's death in light of the ongoing investigation.
"I would not like to speculate or even attempt to give my views on this as this may jeopardize the investigation going forward," she said.
Blackman said the condition of the assistant, who she did not name, was critical.
"His production assistant, currently working for Maverick Entertainment, was also discovered in a coma and has been hospitalized in Uganda," she told FoxNews.com. "She has not shown any improvement as [of] yet."
Maverick Entertainment is Rice's production company.
"His dream for Maverick Entertainment was to produce in all areas of Africa," said Blackman of her husband. "He loved the African people and was driven to share in all the various cultures."
Rice and the assistant were not currently working on "The Amazing Race," but he had worked on Season 20, which premiered on CBS on Sunday. Rice had also worked on Animal Planet's "Whale Wars" and the South African version of "The Biggest Loser," along with several other series and television movies.
A rep for Jerry Bruckheimer Films, the production company behind "The Amazing Race," said he had "no knowledge" of the incident when reached earlier on Tuesday.
CBS had no comment.
Facilitators like Rice are typically hired by larger production companies to make necessary arrangements with local officials before producers come in to shoot scenes for their shows.
After hearing the tragic news, friends of Rice took to Twitter to express their grief. SyFy Channel personality Josh Gates said, "Floored by the loss of my dear friend & fellow adventurer, Jeff Rice. You were, quite simply, the real deal. I'll never forget you."
Rex Williams from Syfy's ‘Destination Truth’ tweeted, "Lost my great friend, Jeff Rice. I can't tell you how saddened we are. He was a true adventurer."
Rice was originally from the United States and moved to South Africa in 1999, where he worked to help develop the country’s film industry. That year, he and Blackman founded SB Entertainment, which specializes in "producing and facilitating films, commercials, documentaries, television and still campaigns."
Rice produced under the banners of both SB and Maverick Entertainment.
Rice and Blackman were married in 2001. Along with his widow, Rice leaves behind two young children, ages seven and almost two. Rice had been expected home on February 25th to celebrate his daughter’s second birthday.
"Jeff was a dedicated father who made the most of his time with his family when back home in South Africa," said Blackman. "He has left a huge void, not only in the film industry, but with his family he has left behind. We will miss his smiles and constant humor."
