So, yeah. I'll be doing this, and I'll be doing it slightly differently than in the past. The big changes:
1. A special preseason round with season-long questions such as "Which leg is the second non-elimination on?" and "How many Detours contain rhyming task titles?"
2. A revamped answering system which will make it easier to score, to be revealed when the preseason round begins.
3. A revamped bonus point system. Rather than giving away free points, if you're the only person to get a correct answer for a question, you will score double points on the next listed question if you are also correct on it, regardless of how many people get that question correct.
4. Each round will close at NOON Australian Eastern Time (about 9pm US Eastern the day before) on the day an episode airs, to ensure people don't narrowly miss out because the episode starts early.
-
This looks great! :hearts:
-
Sounds good! :hoot:
-
Okay, so. The preseason round will go up later today, but just a couple of clarifications:
1. If there is a TBC, it will be treated as a NEL.
2. The new answering system is simple. Each question will be numbered, and each option will have a letter in front of it. All you have to do is write down the question number and the letter matching your choice. It may take longer to find the questions (you'll have to scroll back rather than copying from the last post), but it's easier and it also means you won't need to write your name twenty times every round. For example, if you think the answers to the first three questions were A, B, and C respctively, your answers would look like this:
1A 2B 3C
Please put the answers next to each other with a space between them, rather than putting each answer on a new line. You do NOT need to copy everyone else's answers.
-
*Joins*
Question, for the pre-season round, like when questions are answered(like maybe a question is "Leg 5.. is it a NEL?") and on Leg 5 we find out, would we receive the points then?
-
The round would be marked at the end of the season, much like the "Who is the winner?" question in the first week of last season's game.
-
This round closes 14 days after the first confirmed day of filming. Scoring will be simple this season - five points per listed option (ie. a four-option question is worth 20 points), unless otherwise stated.

Do we list our usernames or what?
-
I'm really sorry but I tried the new answering system and it is painful. Coupled with the most random and obscure questions I have ever seen, doesn't give me a good impression of this game....
-
Hi, this is sounding like a great game and I would like to join in.
My question is: Do we post our answers here in this thread or do we send them to you in a message?
-
Do we list our usernames or what?
You don't need to, since without having to copy-paste everything only your answers will be in the post, but feel free to.

In the thread.

I'm willing to take suggestions regarding the answering format between now and during the season.
As for the questions, they're deliberately kind of random in this first round, but will be closer to the questions from the first season's game in the actual episode rounds. I've tried to come up with questions that are at least possible to estimate beforehand without requiring the knowledge of spoilers - given the round started before the race began, it's only fair.
-
I suppose I'll post my answers now if we're allowed to start, even though I might have done better by waiting till the race starts filming:

Single distances. Given the show pretty much doesn't mention distances unless there's a reason to (flying x000 kilometres between countries, or the big drives such as to Masada), there's no way to say for sure otherwise.

A caveat to be fair: If for whatever reason the Jig/Pig Detour isn't in the first leg (though we believe it is), everybody will score 15 points for the question.
-
can we change the answer once we post it? just like Joab's prediciton game where we can still move around our choice?
-
Yes. But whatever is there when the round is closed is your guess. If you edit your post after that point, you will score 0 for the week.

Curse you for including contingencies regarding a no-RB leg. (:;)
Curse production for airing all of 0 legs with both a Detour and a RB (wiki says that a Detour was edited out of leg 3 and a RB poorly edited out of leg 4). :groan:

At this point, we can't guarantee we're going to get a Detour and a Road Block shown (although it looks like we CAN guarantee both are present in every leg). What I'll do is give full marks for both a "there is no Road Block/Detour" answer and for the actual leg-as-designed answer if we can prove it. I'll also backmark these answers and give them for the first few weeks as well.
