Wont be able to help tonight have parents over ( they seem to like coming over on Sunday night).
-
Even though FOX has the doubleheader this week, quite a few markets that get the east coast feed will have a single late afternoon game, and a good chance of a NFL overrun. The games include Houston at Baltimore and Cleveland at Oakland. Areas gmenerally include much of Texas, the St. Louis area, all of Michigan, most of Wisconsin, most of Ohio, metro Atlanta, metro Charlotte, and the central mid-Atlantic (Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, and nearby areas of the Potomic River valley.) There could be changes before Sunday,
Those areas could be affected.
-
Check your local station but according to CBS Eye Alert, revised start times for tonight's CBS programs: The Amazing Race (8:15 ET, 7:15pm CT)
-
The Tampa area was not affected, so the feed should be up at normal time.
-
Boston is seeing no delay. :yess:

This Detour is interesting indeed. Some teams making it look easy than others, some switching.
-
Teams are flying to Phuket, Thailand.
Andy & Tommy and Zac & Laurence decided to go somewhere else (sorry, wasn't paying attention) to get a flight. But it turns out that they had to go through Bankok after that, and then to Phuket. Their flight got in at 7:50.
The other teams got a direct flight to Phuket at 6:40.
-
Teams sleep overnight at the boat docks...race across the floating dock to get a clue.
Travel by boat to Detour : coral or beach
Beach, match 20 chairs to a sticker , set up perfectly
Coral: Current is strong! J/S and M/A and Bill Cathi having trouble...

I'm watching on a delayed feed, so I'll just let you guys update. :hrt:

Andy and Tommy easily finished the detour. Justin and Jennifer finished the coral one second. Bill and Cathi, Amani and Marcus, and Jeremy and Sandy all switched to the umbrella one.
Andy and Tommy reach the roadblock first. They have to climb... this rock. Wasn't really paying attention. :duno: Andy is doing the roadblock.
-
Andy quickly finishes the roadblock. Andy & Tommy are directed to drive to the pitstop, Koh Panyi. Justin & Jennifer reach the roadblock and Jennifer does the roadblock.

Jennifer finishes. Justin & Jennifer are currently in 2nd. Nobody else has finished the detour...

-
Amani and Marcus are 5th. Marcus: "WE'RE OKAY!" Marcus helped Liz & Marie.
Jeremy & Sandy are 6th.
Andy & Tommy arrive at the pier. That's a super nice soccer field! Andy & Tommy are team number 1. They won $5000 each.

Laurence is doing the roadblock.
Prophet, I can't wait. Ernie & Cindy are really lost... Uh oh! Are they going to use the express pass?

Anyone know who said the episode title?
-
Zac & Laurence got lost. How? I don't know...
I think they over thought that map
-
Jeremy & Sandy are 3rd. Zac & Laurence are 4th.
Amani & Marcus are lost...
Ernie & Cindy are 5th. Amani & Marcus are 6th.
Marie did the roadblock. Liz & Marie are appreciating their time. "It's like riding to our death."
Bill & Cathi are 7th. :)
-
Phil teases Liz & Marie before telling them that it's a non-elimination leg. "It's not as easy as it looks."
-
Does anyone remember if Liz and Marie were shown switching on the air?
-
Anyone know who said the episode title?
Jeremy
-
I'm relieved that it was a non-elimination leg, although I kind of predicted it would be one. However, I thought Bill & Cathi would come in last, not Liz & Marie. Of course, maybe it's better this way, since a team who does the Speed Bump rarely is eliminated. This might ensure that Liz & Marie survive another leg.

Anyone know who said the episode title?
I thought it was Bill....but I had only audio.
:tu Polaroid!! Finish it out?? :hugs:
-
Does anyone remember if Liz and Marie were shown switching on the air?
They switched?
Next week: Teams race by local transportation (elephants). Jeremy & Sandy are lost. Liz & Marie don't have money and struggle to catch up. And a cab driver laughs at them.
-
I don't know if they switched, but they were at the Detour for an awful long time. :duno:
-
Bill for the episode title!
-
We actually saw some life and personality from Jeremy and Sandy this week. Wonder if a story line is beginning.
-
The thing is that these two teams have basicaly been at the bottom of these remaining 8 teams since the beginning of the race, and I expect that they'll likely be the next two eliminated teams. Likewise, the top 5 teams have been that way except for Andy/Tommy's finish in 7th on the first leg.
I can't remember if we'vr had 2 NELs in the first four legs before. Gonna make things more interesting as we go along.
-
I feel like Amani & Marcus are getting way too much air time and Laurence & Zac are barely getting any. :duno:
-
I can't remember if we'vr had 2 NELs in the first four legs before.
Well, there's last season (nobody got eliminated at the end of legs 1 and 4)
Don't forget that if there's 12 legs in this race, there are 4 non-eliminations in total (and not the usual 3) because of the double-elimination

Here's a page (http://www.railay.com/railay/climbing/koh_yao_nai.shtml) on Koh Yao Noi rock climbing. Going by the map and the caps (photo source (http://www.flickr.com/photos/kakji/3729091739/)), they were climbing The Grateful Wall at the northern tip of the island.
Haven't found Soap Island yet; maybe it's beneath some clouds. The other stuff was already nailed down.
-
Watching this episode, I was super excited to see teams at the exact same ticket counter as I was just 2 weeks ago at Yogyakarta Airport! Gives me tingles when something like that happens..
-
How funny that even though all teams were bunched together at the marine, Justin & Jennifer switched places with Laurence & Zac, but everyone else finished in exactly the same position that they started!
Also, Andy & Tommy have become the 8th team in TAR history to win 3 legs in a row after Colin & Christie (S5 8-10), BJ & Tyler (S9 10-12), Rob & Amber (S11 1-3), Ken & Tina (S13 2-4), Nick & Starr (S13 5-8), Meghan & Cheyne (S15 9-12) and Louie & Michael (S16 4-6).
If they win the next leg, they'll join Meghan & Cheyne and Nick & Starr as the only teams to have won 4 legs in a row.
-
And if they win four more times in a row after this leg, they'll be tied with Marc & Rovilson.

Looks like 8°01'11"N 98°31'43"E? (If you're using Google Earth adjust the imagery time to 17 Oct 2011.)
You can see it just west of the bay of Ko Yao Yai on this map (http://paddleasia.com/images/map_phang_nga_bay.jpg). Many maps I see have it as Ko Sup.

Polaroid,
I am intensely curious on how the 6 lagging teams got to Phuket ahead of the leading 2 teams. I have done a lot of research of possible flights and have not figured it out. However, one thing that is certain is that there was no direct flight from Yogyakarta to Phuket. There are many flights from Yogyakarta to Jakarta and a few from Yogyakarta to Denpasar, but in neither case starting at 1230pm can you get ahead of the teams arriving 740pm from Bangkok.
-
^ apskip
in the episode it was stated that the six teams went from Yogya to Jakarta and then to Phuket, having already booked tickets for the "afternoon flight". A/T and L/Z didn't find tickets on that flight because they didn't look for tickets until after they arrived to Jakarta and by then the flight was fully booked.
As for what flight they took I think it was one of Indonesia Air Asia. The code might be QZ 7744 but I'm not sure.
-
KiKi,
Thanks. You do have the correct explanation of this. QZ7744 departs Jakarta 1600 and arrives Phuket 1850. That has to be the way the 6 teams went. The only way the 2 leading teams did not get on that flight was negligence in not booking on arrival at Yoyakarta airport.
-
KiKi,
The only way the 2 leading teams did not get on that flight was negligence in not booking on arrival at Yoyakarta airport.
I am not sure I would call it negligence. I assume they arrived at the airport and the first counter they went to offered this flight to Jakarta which would leave really soon. So they did not have the time to research any further. Instead they were under the impression that there would be plenty of flights from Jakarta to Phuket, in reality it was only one.
The irony is that Laurence & Zac where at teh Air Asia counter when Andy & Tommy told them about the Gauruda flight. If they had stayed there they would probably have ended up on the first flight.
