Preview brought back lots of memories. I did a brief study-abroad in Brazil and my home-stay was in Niteroi the place where the pitstop is. It has been a while, but maybe I can dig up some relevant photos.

The wax is a roadblock in Brazil
It looked like Zev and Justin were trying to sell that stuff for a detour on the beach
The trotters are missing a bus somewhere
We got the credits clip of Christ the redeemer statue will they go there? They have been to a lot of the places in the credits

They went up to Christo in Season 2, before they installed the escalators......now you dont have walk up all those steps. I hope they have to get a clue at the Neimeyer designed museum in Niteroi.......

Peach, you might want to put this in Ep 12 thread. I think this cap is different from the cabs the other teams took which clearly showed them to be in Brazil. Could this be a cap from Leg 12? I'm unsure, but the outside surroundings and the cab itself does seemed like Florida~

When you see Phil standing on the finishing line, you can sort of hear teams cheering. Is it me or did i hear either Kisha or the Globetrotters cheering? Couldn't catch Mallory's high pitch at all.

I think it is leaving the airport in Rio......looks like the Rio control tower out the back window.......and that is pretty steep hill on the right for S Florida.

Unless you know a regular taxi driver to come meet you at the airport......you have to take a "radio" taxi from the airport. You have to buy a ticket to whatever part of Rio you want to go to. The rates are established so tourists wont get ripped off. They look like normal cars. Normal taxis are the yellow/green national colors. The radio taxis are much nicer than the normal taxis and also have higher rates.

The tram is the Santa Teresa Tram. It is the only tram left in Rio. It is pretty famous. I think the stage is in Niteroi, from Slowhatch's previous research.
One of the great train robbers in Britian used to have a bar/cafe just off that tram.....up in the hills.
Santa Teresa is a very old neighborhood in Rio. Rio had a very bad yellow fever problem, so people moved up on the hills to get away from the mosquitos that caused the disease.

On the subject of the tram. It looks like it's this stop "The Estaçio Carioca terminal, with the Petrobras building in the background." according to this picture from a website about the tram: (http://images.nycsubway.org/i39000/img_39252.jpg)
Here's a picture of it on the map. The blue dot is the tram station. The green building in the lower left can be seen in the shots of everyone leaving the globetrotters. And "D" is the Rio de Janeiro Cathedral

The tram goes for Carioca Station in Rio Centro up to the neighborhood of Santa Teresa and then back to Centro. The beach scenes could be from Gloria Beach or the beach in Botofogo. I cant tell from the preview. Need some screencap to match buildings in the background.

Caps 31-33 looks like it might be from Leg 12.
All the taxi sequences seems like are from Leg 11 in Rio. With silly editing making it look as if they were from sprint to finish line.
For example Cap 36 is Brazil for sure. The Water bottle Zev is holding gives it away. However, gotta wonder if cap 34 with the Globetrotters is also from Rio. We can see a yellow-ish / green-ish car in the back window, but is not very clear.

Wow... I can't for the life of me figure out who's gonna win this! I can't even predict who'll be the final team eliminated, although I have a FEELING that it'd be Gary and Mallory. They kinda have the nice-team-just-misses-the-finale edit like Oswald and Danny and Toni and Dallas. And my gut tells me that Zev and Justin or the Globetrotters will win the race. Zev and Justin's placements kinda remind me of Nat and Kat's last season. They won a couple of legs, but almost came in last for a couple of legs as well. Whereas for the Globetrotters, they're a strong team with a pretty good edit this season, so they might end up as our eventual winners. Hmm.
But of course, I really hope that somehow, somewhere, Gary and Mallory win this thing! If that happens, it'll be an awesome end to a pretty boring season (IMO). Geez.

They aren't giving us hardly anything from ep 12. I think they are going to use the double leg to only give us promos for Brazil. :snicker:

Yay, longest preview in the season! :yess: I think Waxing is one of the Detour, including with Selling... 'Cuz I don't think most RI are crucial challenges, but waxing... OMG, when they pull them out, really painful ya' know... You can see in the previews many were screaming :lol3: At 7-8, Zev & Justin choose the Selling Detour, but then at 11 & 14, we can see both Zev & Justin were being waxed, so there might be a chance they switch Detour, 'cuz it isn't easy to sell stuffs... with a lot of that clothes... And did I see Justin holding a lot of b*k*n* with him? :umn:

Given the architecture, I expect the samba roadblock to be somewhere in the Santa Teresa neighborhood. That would also fit in with the teams having to take the tram. If anyone has time to look for the location, that's where I would start.
The following is only spec.
In terms of the pitstop being in Niteroi, it seems to me that the only reason would be to have it be at the Museum of Contemporary Art which has amazing views of Rio. They will need to cross over the bridge to get there, but once they arrive, there is a huge ramp going up to the main building. It's very stage-ending worthy.
Are Zev & Justin waxed when they're at the beach? That *should* help with timing? :lol:
I tried to look but I can't make it out. Are they going to remove arm hair as well on the males? It doesn't seem fair because they would have to do arms, legs and chest at least while the girls don't have to do as much.

The Pit Stop yes...........not necessarily the Pit Stop hotel......
The beauty shop for the waxing is probably in Copa too.........they are a dime a dozen. Finding the right beauty shop will be our needle in the haystack task. But the Globetrotter sighting at midnight has nothing to do with the detours around noon.
In TAR2, they used Christo as a route info location right after landing. Then they used Pau de Azucar (Sugarloaf) for one of the detour options the next morning.

As to the taxi screencaps........
The taxis they will have to take from the Rio Airport, are all air conditioned radio taxis........so all the taxi shots with the windows up will most probably be on the ride from the airport to the Santa Teresa tram. Taxis shots with windows down will be normal yellow/green taxis that are used after getting the clue in Santa Teresa. I dont see any team waiting around for a radio taxi after a task, when there will be lots of the yellow.green normal taxis everywhere.
Teams are all wearing the same exact clothes in all screencaps. I would except at least one team to change before heading to Miami. Though, to be fair, they will have time to get them washed after leg 11 and before leg 12.

did anyone notice Gary and Mallory are switched in these two taxi scenes? Also in cap 35, they both look clean and neat, my guess is they're starting the leg and coming out of the airport, while in cap 40 Mallory has some kind of dirt or paint in her face, and her shirt is kinda wet, and also Gary's,... maybe after finishing a task and on route to the pitstop??

I certainly noticed the perspiration.........but she is so expressive all the time.......she may just be happy the light turned green!!!
Dec 11 in Rio is same weather as June 11 in Miami.........it is warm, but usually not all that humid. But if this is after the Samba RB.......then certainly explains the sweat.
I think the stage is to teach the racers doing the RB how to Samba..........but remember that the samba is a street dance. So I think each racer has a couple to teach them how to do it. It appears they have more members of their samba team and might have to samba round the square.......with their own samba school.........a copy of the Rio Carnaval Samba Schools in the Sambadrome.

In several of the caps with the teams in taxis, you can see in the background, on the other side of the highways/roads street-mileage signs.
Knowing what is on those signs will tell us what highway and probably where on that highway teams were on.
None of the trees/plants looked like south Florida trees and flora. On the other hand, with the boat in the preview, you can see one palm tree in the far background on shore. That is definitely the now almost extinct type of palm trees that were common in South Florida and the Key until a palm tree blight wiped them out in the 1970s.

I think I keep trying to see clues in the taxi caps, for some reason.
Did a breakdown, of a few additional things I noticed, not sure if it's helpful or not.
- Once again cap 34 with the Globetrotters - 1st time I noticed the colored car (what is the color of cabs in Miami?), but are those Palm trees behind them? - Miami or Rio, not sure. - Cap 35 - Gallory - Not sure Miami or Rio. Is that a truck passing by them? Is that the drawing of a grapefruit (which is not a very common fruit in Brazil, I must say) or is that a tomato. - Cap 36 - Zev and Justin - Rio for sure (water bottle) - Cap 37 - Kisha & Jen - Rio, same cab as Cap 39. - Cap 38 - Zev and Justin - no clue - Cap 39 - Kisha & Jen - We can see a Rio, green Coperativa cabs by the window beside Jen, so it's set in Brazil for sure. - Cap 40 - Gallory - no clue - Cap 41 - Globetrotters - Doesn't look like same taxi from cap 34. Might be Brazil, those yellow and green flags on the background might be the give-away. - Cap 42 and 43 - Gallory - no clue, but probably same taxi as 40, but not the same taxi from 35, as someone already indicated, by Gary and Mallory different seat positions.

Just noticed something else. Cap 35 - They're Dry. Caps 40, 42-43 - They're Wet, as if they were wet, and then they wore the dry t-shirts over. Might be a clue for them being set in Miami and not Rio.

Yay, longest preview in the season! :yess: I think Waxing is one of the Detour, including with Selling... 'Cuz I don't think most RI are crucial challenges, but waxing... OMG, when they pull them out, really painful ya' know... You can see in the previews many were screaming :lol3: At 7-8, Zev & Justin choose the Selling Detour, but then at 11 & 14, we can see both Zev & Justin were being waxed, so there might be a chance they switch Detour, 'cuz it isn't easy to sell stuffs... with a lot of that clothes... :umn:

Nah i don't think it would be a detour. Why? Because it wouldn't be fair at all for the boys and the time factor doesn't match with the selling of the clothes. Girls will have a huge advantage of this because.. they're basically almost hairless from shaving themselves regularly.. i hope. :) Therefore....

Im not sure actually, because they look seriously shocked, like as though they had hit and killed someone (obviously that didn't happen) but seriously look at their faces. I dont think it is something as small as that. Just my opinion.

In the video, it looks like the tram was slowing down and the teams were yelling no and shaking their heads no... They didn't seem serious, serious upset like hitting something but more 'Don't stop the tram, go go go!' LOL I really think the Trotters were trying to stop the tram...

Not sure this is a lot of help but these two screen caps are different cabs. Notice the two screw holes above Justin's head in one and not the other.
What is that on Justin's neck in the taxi photo? It looks like a bandage or it could just might well be the sun light position.

The samba task is taking place at the intersection of two streets - Rua Sau Francisco da Prainha and Rua Scadura Cabral. There is a restaurant called Angu do Gomes which is loacted here as well as what appears to be a water bottling location etc. (discovered it on google earth but can't figure out how to do a pic of same - sorry)

It looks like the tram location you found was about a mile from the samba. But the tram would not take them to Rio Antigo would it? I don't think the tram is after the samba because they are not very sweaty at all. They get much sweatier later.

I tend to diagree, DrRox, because the roadblock should be first, before they head south for the detour and then west for the pitstop. Besides the fact that the roadblock is usually first, they seem to start in the central Rio area (where the airport, tram and roadblock are) and work away from it. It's just my spec that we see roadblock then waxing then detour. The main thing I was thinking is that it would be odd to get the detour clue at the end of the tram ride which is very close to the roadblock point and then go down to Copacabana and then right back to where they just were for the roadblock. However just because I find it odd does not mean they won't do it. Sometimes they do seem to run all over the place. I just always tend to want to force their route to make sense. :lol:

I think the spa is the Pello Menos spa - they have several in Rio - There is at least one in Copacabana: Rua Tonelero, 223 - Copacabana Rio de Janeiro
Note the yellow trim on collar in wax pic 2 as well as the name tag in wax pic 1.

There sure are a lot of Pellos Menos in Rio though so it may be difficult to locate the actual one.
From the video it also looks like that one may be a beauty school or something and one shot shows the entrance and looks like it is in a mall.

On the Pellomenos.com website I found two locations in Copa. I didnt find the one you listed on Rua Tonelero. But the one on Av Ns, Copacabana is walking distance from the beach detour......maybe 3 blocks, 4 tops. It seems that all their shops are in shopping mall type environments.......which makes sense.......catch the ladies when they are shopping.....smart business move.

Since it's a slow day for new info, I'm gonna speculate on the F3. I think Zev/Justin will be Philiminated in Rio and Kisha/Jen or Gallory will win AR18. I don't think Z/J will do well selling goods on beach (assuming that's one of the detour options).
Doesn't matter to me who wins, as I actually like all the teams left, which has NEVER happened before.
I'm looking forward to Sunday!
Based on the promo posted below, looks like my speculation might be true. Those running scenes for Gallory, Trotters and Kisha/Jen looked like Miami to me. Z/J on the beach looked like Rio. Just my spec tho.

I think that we should take a moment and think about the race and what we thought prior to the season starting and what happened that led to this final episode.
I remember when the race first started, I really thought the top contenders were going to be the Cowboys, Margie and Luke, Ron and Christina, and the Globetrotters.
Cowboys---season 16 favorites
Margie and Luke---the faces of season 14
Ron and Christina---THEY DOMINATED! towards the end of the season and the one time they were passed up by TK and Rachel, is crossing the finish line--season 12
Globetrotters---Fan Favorites from season 15 who were so charismatic and enjoyable to watch. IDK if they would have beaten meghan and Cheyne, but they definetly were a strong team who did not make the final three in season 15
So now, these were my four top teams going into the race who I really thought would make it far...HOWEVER! I am shocked at the performance from Zev and Justin who DOMINATED! this season! They owned it. Jen and Kisha boutlasted all other teams from season 14 and always placed in middle to top. Globetrotters were not a surprise to still be in, and Gary and Mallory have ran a VERY lucky fortunate race.
In leg one they won the express pass
In leg 5, they would have gone home if they didn't have their express pass(dinasaur challenge)
In leg 9 they were spared from elimination(AND there was only one more NON-elimination left which EVERYONE! thought was going to be in the final four, ut it turned out to be here in the final six)
Now that the final four has been declared, I really have no favorites becuz I was rooting for the globetrotters(BUT! after their uturn of the cowboys idk if i still like them, sorry i just LOVED! the cowboys) Going into this finale, I dont mind who wins, because DARN IT! they deserve to still be there. They have worked hard to make it to the final 4 and who ever wins I'll be happy becuz this season was a great one . Just some things I wanted to express as a true fan :):)

Zev/Justin's detour choices for the last few legs have been really shaky. I wonder if their good luck has finally run out in Rio? Don't know what the 2nd detour option is, but unless it's really physical, I can't imagine selling clothes to strangers on a beach is the best choice. Based on the promo, it doesn't look like they made it to Miami. Just my speculation tho.

Just a continuation on my original thought. From what I've seen from this new promo, it looks like making drinks (SHAKING) would be WAY easier than selling clothes (SELLING). I wonder who else, if any, chose selling over shaking?? If Z/J are out, I would bet this is the reason why.

That looks really easy to make. All you need is a lime, cachaca, and sugar. They must have to drink it as well or something. Otherwise the task would take about two minutes. Cachaca is a rum so that could be the problem. I'm not disputing that that is what it is because you can see the bowls of limes and sugar right in front of them.

I have two big quarrels with the above logic. We have no idea how Gary would have done on the dinosaur ROADBLOCK in China. MY guess based on how difficult it proved to be for Jaime is that Gary would have finished ahead of her had Gary and Mallory not elected to use their EXPRESS PASS.
Everyone did not think that the NEL leg had to be the 2nd to last leg, the one which typically cuts a field of 4 to a field of 3 teams. I thought it could have happened on any leg. The Vienna/Salzburg leg was certainly a good choice for it because there was a huge amount of self-driving that leg.

1. Caper, you are simply amazing.
2. in "preview 1", when the preview guy says miami beach, they show J/K, Gallory, and Z/J and then he changes the subject to photo finish which is where FT/BE show up again.
Do we know if Ft/be are in brazil or florida when he says we are racing for a million? if they are in brazil when they say that, i have a bad feeling that they will be eliminated.

Well, we know that Zev and Justin are doing something besides mixing drinks. They might switch detours. Can't sell worth a lick so they go make the drinks. On the roadblock, I think Mallory could do this fairly quick :hearts: but Zev is gonna have problems. :'(

Is that speculation that ALL the teams do the drink detour? I've only seen pics of Trotters & Gallory. Are there pics out there somewhere of the other 2 teams making drinks?

All four teams are shown in the press photos doing that side of the detour. Perhaps someone with press access will be kind enough to download them for us to look at.

I'm sure peach will get her hands on them soon. :lol: But yes there is photo evidence of all teams shaking the cocktails. Zev and Justin must switch, which probably contributes to them falling behind.

Wow, even Phil also loves the Cowboys too, he's even sure that his money will come to the Cowboys! :hearts: It's really really a disappointment that the Cowboys were eliminated... :'(

Well, we know that Zev and Justin are doing something besides mixing drinks. They might switch detours. Can't sell worth a lick so they go make the drinks. On the roadblock, I think Mallory could do this fairly quick :hearts: but Zev is gonna have problems. :'(
This is my first time posting, and it may go without saying, but having some personal knowledge about Mallory I had to make a statement in regard to the comment that Mallory "could do this fairly quick" when talking about the Road Block. She should absolutely own this! I choreographed some musicals she was in and with that aside watch videos of Ms. America she should have no problem leading a dance.

yeah she was also on the dance team with my sister and cousin in high school. I think she may have even been a captain one year.

So based on the promo we r extremely sure that zev/justin switched detour. But one thing bout zev/justin is tt they make decisions fast. Like aft 5mins shaking tt thing they decided it was too diff. They wld immediately change the detour choice.
What worries me right nw is the way cbs showed the promo. Its telling us tt zev/justin is gg to be eliminated. Mm.

I am fairly sure that Zev & Justin switch detour options. Mixing 100 drinks under shelter from the sun had to have been WAY better than trying to sell bikini bras on the beach in the hot sun... But you can't tell men anything...JK LOL :duno: I think they quickly wised up.
The promo's, especially for the finale, can be shown out of context and can be, therefore, mis-leading. As it stands right now, looks like Zev & Justin are out. But what if... ???

I agree that we're pretty sure that Zev/Justin switched Detours. But they don't seem to have made decisions that fast in previous episodes? Like in the two previous legs, they picked the harder Detour and still stuck with it the whole time.

IM sorry but my english not very well, but I expoes the final 3 fron the promo. we can see in the pit stop of the final 4 that jen & kisha wearing a bkue shirts. and than we can see in the wax challenge that kisha/jen wearing a black shirt. what say the the wax chalange was on the leg of the final 3. in the promo we can see on this callenge: 1) gary&malory 2)zev&justin 3) kisha & jen and they are the final 3 and the next elimited team are: flight time& big easy
