Otherwise, that doesn't seem like too difficult of a task. Especially with how hungry everyone must be at this point in the race...

Quite possible, but if several teams arrive at the same time, then I would think that they get a little extra time to eat. They will have to load the other teams. I would suspect that it is one team per carriage.
Rather than have a set period time.....I would think that they couldnt get off till they finished. If they were not finished in one revolution, then they would have to keep going till they did get finished.

Jet & Cord are the only top 3 team finals that finish the race while the rest have been eliminated before making it to the finals...
3 eliminated teams make it to the finals or 2 eliminated teams and Jet & Cord make to the finals?

I'm new here... I just want to share that Gallory came in 4th after the 5th team had been eliminated in the previous season and then eliminated the next leg. I hope this is not happening again since they came in 4th when R/C became the 5th team eliminated. :'(

Interesting stuff ... let's say the detour went on after the roadblock, one option was the couch (ending at the Vienna University) and the other one the eating task. If the they went to the pitstop immediately afterwards and the Kunsthistorische Museum was indeed the pitstop, the couch task would be nearer by at least 2 1/2 miles ... hmmm ...

I've thought about this. There is one NEL or TBC remaining. Producers may have thought that, the hardest thing to be done is to have more than a TBC during the race. Maybe they have replaced ALL the NELs into TBCs. So, I think that there are no NELs this race. I'm possibly wrong.
I think this is not the last NEL/TBC... Maybe when 4/5 teams remain, but I think not 6.

I would think that the producers could not set up six complete carrages as dining cars on the ferris wheel; the wheel is almost constantly in motion, so if all six teams arrived it would be a lot of stop and go or long wait until the next dining carriage arrived. So my guess is that this is indeed a fast forward event. The first team arrives and gets the dining car; any teak arriving next would have to wait until the first team is finished. Besides the Freud bed and the Ferris Wheel are pretty far apart and in most cases the two detour events are in the same neighborhood.
And it you are in Veinna and want the biggest, maybe not the best, Wienerschnitzel you have to go to Figlmueller at Woozeile 5 or Bacherstrasse 6. If the Wienerschnitzel arrives at your table and doesn't completely cover the plate, send it back for another one! And the veal (or pork) is so tender you can cut it with a fork. (Take that "chicken fried steak")

During the Advent Season before Christmas this is the site of a rather large and busy Christkindlmark and a very crowded time especially on weekends. The market completely surrounds the Statue of Marie Theresa (the horse shown is just part of the monument). It would be a difficult area to have the matt and pit stop located in my opinion.

My comment was not meant to disparage, in any way, Viennese cuiseine. The meal, they are eating, is almost exactly the first meal that I ate in Wein almost 50 years ago. The menus were not in English then and my mother suggested I try it. I was a pretty finicky eater back then. To my great surprise after two bites I exclaimed, "It is chicken fried steak!!" My mother laughed cuz she knew I would like it. She was a great cook and I had been eating it most of my short life back then and yes you could cut hers with a fork. I do love Sachertorte, but my favorite dessert is Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte, but it comes from Germany, not Austria. My comment was only meant to show that Gary/Mallory have probably eaten that dish before, by another name. This is not really the case with many of the Asian foods that teams get in eating challenges.
Wien is one of my favorite cities in Europe and I always love your pics from your holiday trips there...........

apparently, 4 teams were still in question about who will be eliminated in leg 7 or who will make it to top 4, those people were Ron & Chris, Jet & Cord, Globetrotters & Kisha and Jen..
since, Ron and Chris got eliminated in Leg 7, does that mean that the other 3 teams made it to the final 4? so, the goths, Zev/Justin and Gary and Mal are now in question....
by the way, someone posted the speculation for this and I'm just trying to like, continue it.. :)

DrRox, Google Maps shows a time of eleven minutes for walking from the Freud museum to the University. Just to be cautious I don't think we know that they are coming from the museum, it was just an educated guess of mine.
Since they would most likely be allowed to drive from the wheel, it takes eleven minutes as well.
Just to illustrate: red would be the Riesenrad; green the museum; and blue is the university.

It will be incredibly tough to find out where the Billa is located. If we could see which tram-line is going by, we would have a better shot.
The Globetrotters are climbing back into their car infront of the Burgtor.
That is not far from the university at all so they have probably just finished the couch task.
Perhaps they do drive out to that castle in Salzburg. It would be an almost three hour drive but that is not unheard of. It looks like early in the morning when Z/J are headed there so perhaps it is first.
Are we positive they fly directly to Vienna? There seem to be several flight options from Delhi to Salzburg, some of which connect through Mumbai where teams may have been sighted.

Although it does make more sense to be headed on the west to east track from Vienna to Salzburg since Lichtenstein and Zermatt are next. There could be a pseudo PitStop in Salzburg with a KRL to Lichtenstein .
You're right! It would make the most sense. So, the detour (Schnitzel/couch) in Vienna. The drive to Salzburg. Maybe (just me guessing) the Roadblock at the "Hohenfeste Salzburg" (that's where the woman with books would most fit in). And then the Pitstop the the Trapp Villa.

I would be very surprised, if they have the teams continue to Liechtenstein without a break on snowy roads during the evening/night. However, nothing seems impossible ... I'm sticking with pitstop, though and we'll have an elimination.

(leg 2 of TAR 14 roadblock was in the mountain range near Salzburg used in the opening sequence of the film, The Sound of Music, IIRC, and the pitstop was in Salzberg as well.)
How odd is it that all of the teams this time from TAR 14 were on that leg, and only one team ends up making it back to Salzburg?

Hi all, long time lurker here, but a huge race fan...
In the picture, there are six dancers, but one has fallen. Is Peach is trying to tell us that one of the final six will fall this week (i.e. this week IS an elimination leg)??? Also in the lower left hand corner, in front of the fallen dancer there appear to be letters "L_5" or something similar... Am I close???

And furthermore, the dancer that appears to be "second" in distance from the front has fallen. Since Zev and Justin finished in second place last week, are they eliminated???

Could this be the pitstop?
During the Advent Season before Christmas this is the site of a rather large and busy Christkindlmark and a very crowded time especially on weekends. The market completely surrounds the Statue of Marie Theresa (the horse shown is just part of the monument). It would be a difficult area to have the matt and pit stop located in my opinion.
I posted this earlier, is it a match?

Caps 36 and 37 - The Trotters running on the Burgring from the Maria-Theresia Platz (note the Kunsthistorisches Museum in the background which forms one side of the Platz) after picking up either the detour clue or route marker, perhaps toward the Freud Museum or University (but what did they do with the car?)

Here's my spec: There is no Roadblock in this episode because it's our last fake Pit Stop leg. That's why we haven't seen any traces of a Roadblock, and that's why they're outright showing us the Pit Stop.

I think this is a clue in the book. Either a Route Info clue or the clue at the end of the RB. I think the important part is not the book, but what is printed on the page. She is obviously showing the page with whatever is printed on it. Also there are 6 books there, so all 6 teams will show up there. Is that a typical X-mas season costume she is wearing, flair?

The costume has nothing to do with Christmas, but probably is something a young maiden would be wearing in the medieval castle such as the castle in Salzburg. Also there is scene of the cowboys running with the book (notice the binding). If they got it in the Salzburg Castle in might have the clue to lead them to the Trapp family villa and the scene of them running with the book could be them leaving the castle (you can either go up and down by finicular or a steep winding trail) and not arriving at the castle.

Just speculating a little bit, but when we see Jet & Cord make the statement, assuming they are running to or from the castle in Salzburg, there is still daylight. When we see Zev & Justin in the car it's already dark outside. Now it was December and it doesn't take long for night to fall, I just think Jet & Cord are definitely in front of Zev & Justin ...

I think so too.Perhaps the cowboys took a different flight again and so see none of the other teams the whole leg and so think they're behind again when infact they are actually first?

The preview also says that there's a footrace to the finish. If our speculation is true, that would mean that at least one other team is "in the dark" as well... Maybe we'll see something in the next preview that will help!

Remember that dark could also be arrival shots.
But Justin is talking about going to get the book and that is in Salzburg which is supposed to be after the Vienna part. Unless the book is the first thing they do after landing and that castle in Salzburg is a throwoff.

In the following screencap, you can see the evidence for this speculation. As you can see there are 6 books. If you look in the next screencap you can see that Jet ( black hat ) is carrying one of the books under his left arm. [b/]My comment[/b] only meant that teams could probably tell where they are placed, at that point in the race, by counting the number of books still left on the table. As to what the Cowboys comments means, I have no idea. They could be first, they could be middle, they could be last. They are known to not be good at self navigation, ie...the driving all over France in TAR16 and the previous Leg 3 in Japan in TAR18.

The preview also says that there's a footrace to the finish. If our speculation is true, that would mean that at least one other team is "in the dark" as well... Maybe we'll see something in the next preview that will help!
The footrace does not have to be for last place, it could just as well be for first place (or any in between).

I think this is what he says and the best explanation of why he said it. What really needs to be determined is where that stamp directs them to.
Keep in mind that even if they are headed to the PS they could be in first for all we know. Sunset in Salzburg on that day was 4PM and we have no comparison as to what the daylight quality is for other teams as they head to the PS.

One thing that caught my eye out of all that was that they are almost definitely driving from Vienna to Salzburg. Besides the fact that it would be unusual to catch a train in the middle of a leg, the promo shows self driving the whole time, in both cities.
Not sure if that helps much.

OK, So what I get, if this is a puzzle of sorts, is:
6 sweeps = 1 racer from each team = Roadblock
It's dark = the roadblock is completed in the MORNING dark BEFORE the detour. Reasoning is because, the detours are done in the daylight and in the screencaps of the PS, it's daylight. However, the promo's are not showing anything from the roadblock, yet... The night scene with Zev and Justin are at EVENING dark (or late afternoon dark). I don't believe the book task is the roadblock, I think it's just a route info...

Although it does make more sense to be headed on the west to east track from Vienna to Salzburg since Lichtenstein and Zermatt are next. There could be a pseudo PitStop in Salzburg with a KRL to Lichtenstein .

I believe your sense of direction is better than this. Vienna to Salzburg is clearly east to west. It does make potential sense since going in the direction of Liechtenstein is the way they need to go.

The bottom paragraph appears to have disappeared, for good reason. The concept that there are several flight options from Delhi to Salzburg does not pass muster. Here are the facts:It will be incredibly tough to find out where the Billa is located. If we could see which tram-line is going by, we would have a better shot.
The Globetrotters are climbing back into their car infront of the Burgtor.
That is not far from the university at all so they have probably just finished the couch task.
Perhaps they do drive out to that castle in Salzburg. It would be an almost three hour drive but that is not unheard of. It looks like early in the morning when Z/J are headed there so perhaps it is first.
Are we positive they fly directly to Vienna? There seem to be several flight options from Delhi to Salzburg, some of which connect through Mumbai where teams may have been sighted.
Of the top flights Delhi to Vienna, Austrian Air is nonstop and the other combination connect through:
Moscow
Zurich (2)
Amman
Munich
Frankfurt
Amsterdam
Dubai
Helsinki
The comparable best flight connections from Delhi to Salzburg are:
via Vienna (this should be no surprise) (2)
Frankfurt
Zurich
There are more than twice as many top connections to Vienna vs. to the much smaller airport at Salzburg. This is no surprise.

So the Price is Right just ended and there was a promo at the end with what I think are mostly shots we have seen.

As pointed out earlier that "slice of cake" is the famous Viennese Sachertorte a rich chocolate cage with a thin layer of apricot jam under the hard outer chocolate frosting. There is a continuing battle between the Sacher Hotel and Demel's coffeehouse as to whom the original recipe belongs. They have even gone to court over the battle. Whether the apricot jam is in the center (Demel's) or under the Frosting (Shacher Hotel) both versions are delicious and very filling especially after a large Wienerschnitzel with salad and fries.

We know the Cowboys were seen in the Delhi airport about midnight on Dec 5.
We know the Pitstop for this leg occured on Dec 6.
Austrian Airlines (codeshare with Lufthansa and Air India) have the direct Delhi>>to Vienna flight.

That location is not at all far from the University and could be where they parked before beginning the task. I wonder if that attraction there (can't remember the name) was the detour choice point and they are talking about Freud after choosing to do it.

This is based on seeing the promos and reading the thread. It is a three hour drive between Salzburg and Vienna. Now after reading Peaches statement... it is always possible that the book thing was 1st IF they picked it up in Vienna instead of Salzburg... In that case, the cowboys are behind Zev & Justin because dark comes before daylight in the morning and daylight before dark in the evening. BUT One would think that they would get stuck with HOO. Say the place they got the book opened at 7:00am, then the cowboys would be pretty far behind. (Did all teams make the same flight to Vienna or did the boys get lost?)
One thing we need to find out is where they did the RB. It has something to do with Chimney Sweeping. Peach indicates the RB is in Salzburg.

Teams finished Leg 7 in Varanasi about sunset on Dec 3, 2110.
Phil flew to Vienna on Dec 4, 2110. It was too late to fly out of Varanasi on Dec 3 for him. He arrived in Vienna the morning of Dec 5, which gives him the day to film his standups.
There were 4 flights from Varanasi on Dec 5, between 1340-1615 that teams could use to fly from Varanasi to Delhi. It all depends on when teams were released from the extended Pit Stop.
Cowboys were seen about midnight of Dec5/6 in the food court of the Delhi airport. They were obviously waiting for OS34, 0230-0600 (0549). It did arrive 21 minutes early. If one would project 1 hour to deplane and clear custom/immigration, then Cowboys could have been on the road at about 0649 on Dec 6th.
No other teams were observed traveling on this leg.
But........................................
There is another flight to Vienna from India. It is OS 36. BOM (Mumbai)-VIE, 0125-0535 (0504), arriving 31 minutes early.
There was only 1 flight from Varanasi to Mumbai that day, Dec 5, 2110 IC 195 1345-1545. That seems like a pretty hard flight to catch unless teams were released to simulate a old fashioned 12 hour pit stop.
But if teams were to do a Mirna/Charla and fly from Varanasi to Delhi.......then there were 15 flights from Delhi to Mumbai from about 1800 to 2330.......plenty of time to catch the OS 36 @ 0125. This could explain a couple of things....
1) no other teams were spotted in the Delhi airport, only the Cowboys.....
2) could explain the Cowboys comment coming out of that castle....they are head of at least one team with an approximate 40 minute headstart on arriving in Vienna........
3) Could mean the pack is trying to separate itself from the Cowboys and left them alone in the Delhi airport.

I don't think it would be back to the parked car which is in the Heidenplatz, but if it is in front of the Christmas Market in Maria-Theresa Platz (that's across from the Hofburg and Heidenplatz) the team might be getting a cab to either the Freud Museum or the Prada.

Something to think about.........
Teams finished Leg 7 in Varanasi about sunset on Dec 3, 2110.
Phil flew to Vienna on Dec 4, 2110. It was too late to fly out of Varanasi on Dec 3 for him. He arrived in Vienna the morning of Dec 5, which gives him the day to film his standups.
There were 4 flights from Varanasi on Dec 5, between 1340-1615 that teams could use to fly from Varanasi to Delhi. It all depends on when teams were released from the extended Pit Stop.
Cowboys were seen about midnight of Dec5/6 in the food court of the Delhi airport. They were obviously waiting for OS34, 0230-0600 (0549). It did arrive 21 minutes early. If one would project 1 hour to deplane and clear custom/immigration, then Cowboys could have been on the road at about 0649 on Dec 6th.
No other teams were observed traveling on this leg.
But........................................
There is another flight to Vienna from India. It is OS 36. BOM-VIE, 0125-0535 (0504), arriving 31 minutes early.
There was only 1 flight from Varanasi to Mumbai that day, Dec 5, 2110 IC 195 1345-1545. That seems like a pretty hard flight to catch unless teams were released to simulate a old fashioned 12 hour pit stop.
But if teams were to do a Mirna/Charla and fly from Varanasi to Delhi.......then there were 15 flights from Delhi to Mumbai from about 1800 and 2330.......plenty of time to catch the OS 35 @ 0125. This could explain a couple of things....
1) no other teams were spotted in the Delhi airport, only the Cowboys.....
2) could explain the Cowboys comment coming out of that castle....they are head of at least one team with an approximate 40 minute headstart on arriving in Vienna........
3) Could mean the pack is trying to separate itself from the Cowboys and left them alone in the Delhi airport.

But see, that is the glory of speculation... One person might say we can't tell anything from this book task, where others might think it may tell alot. One person might 'see' something that someone else did not. Since my speculation, there have been a few more that make sense. The book thing is kind of important... This is why there is so much talk about it.

My first thought, a few days ago, was that this was a castle. With so many great Austrian buildings, I think it could be a castle, monastery, library, etc..

I this picture, you could make a case for the person in the white visor (right side of the picture) recognizing the Goths and then chasing after them.

The last time TAR was in India was in TAR 14 and I dont remember them doing this. Does anyone know if India has changed that particular law?

Do we know for sure that the eating task on the Ferris Wheel has to be completed in 12 minutes? The last time I rode on the wheel the trip was about 27 minutes. And since in one scene we see two teams on the wheel at the same time, the first team to board would have a few extra minutes (if the wheel has been sped up to complete a complete circuit in only 12 minutes) as the wheel would have to stop for the second team to board and receive their food.

What we do know is that teams have to eat a rather large meal in a certain amount of time.
Therefore if the ferris wheel takes 12 minutes for a single revolution and a team can finish their meal in that period of time they are off an running to the next taks. What happens if they can't finish it in those 12 minutes? My guess is that they have to continue on the ferris wheel until they do finish the meal. So if a team doesn't finish in the first 12 minutes they keep going, but if they finish 5 minutes later, of course they can't get off until 7 minutes later so that gives them 24 minutes on the ferris wheel...and to take it further, if they can't finish in 24 minutes but actually finish in 25 minutes, well that's too bad because they still have to wait 11 minutes before they can exit the ferris wheel and continue to their next task. So really they can eat at their own pace but ultimately when they leave the task is determined by the time they can actually exit the ferris wheel which is in intervals of 12 minutes.

But you are assuming they CAN finish the meal. What if during that first 12 minutes they realize there is no way they can finish the food task period. The food they are eating is pretty heavy and even for myself, I wouldn't be able to finish off that entire meal period.....I may be able to do it in 24-36 minutes but I'd more than likely barf. lol so maybe the team desides to jump off at the 12 minute mark and continue on because they know they can't finish it. Or maybe they do go another revolution and they barf on the second revolution and are given a new plate. By that point they know they aren't going to finish so might as well jump out at 24 minutes and go to the other task.
Interesting theory and totally possible. However I'm still inclined to think that they have to finish it all in 12 minutes, or else they get a new plate. In the promo, Gary says, "We've got a lot of food to eat in 12 minutes," or something like that. Kinda implies that they really have to eat the food in 12 minutes. If it were just a matter of finishing it at your own pace, he'd probably just say, "We've got a lot of food to eat."

I still believe we have to understand the comments are referring no other teams in their proximity of the castle behind the Cowboys. My speculation is that even if the Cowboys were last out of the Vienna airport (which may or may not be true), they zip through the tasks for this leg, and arrive first. It won't seem to matter if they did the eating or the couch option on the detour or for some reason had to do both, I still think they will do it faster and with fewer problems than the other teams.
I'm also not sure if this will be a no-rest pit stop or not, but I do believe we're getting another no-rest NEL pit stop before the end of the Race.

I know people have stated that it takes 24-25 minutes for the ferris wheel. But when Zev/Justin are on it, they say "we are already at the top, can you finish that?" and the clock is counting down at just over 6 minutes remianing. Perhaps since they are not filling every car with 10-20 people, the revolution really only take 12 minutes.
that's what I was thinking also. I'm sure a big part of that 25 minutes is the stopping/loading/restarting for passengers. Or do they load ALL the cars, and then go 1 complete revolution...but then that could take close to 50 minutes,

I'm not sure what the first hour of the finale will consist of. It could be a second Brazil leg that may or may not be continued from the first Brazil leg. There also may be the final elimination at the end of the first hour or an old fashioned finale three NEL.

A final 3 NEL wouldn't work I think, because I don't think TPTB would want a team doing a Speed Bump in the final leg.

Yeah, liked the episode, but a bit sad, that they couldn't get their castles right ...
And 12 minutes for the Schnitzel and the Sachertorte ... I'd say that would have been next to impossible for almost anybody :lol:

They only time we can actually see the cars is usually when the get on them at the beginning, if they had gone straight from the airport to Vienna and picked up the cars later it would't be a very effective product placement.

Strange leg design for sure............It gave the teams something to do in the early morning hours, spread out the field, avoided HoO and let them film the Detour during daylight hours.

Only Season 7,8,9,12 and 13 had 4 teams remaining, the rest all had 5 remaining teams.
A TAR first, i think.. with the "NELs" placed on 1st, 3rd and on the 8th leg.
Not that i'm complaining.. it saved me from dying of sadness to have 3 of my favourite teams eliminated in a row. :lol:

What i didn't like was the RB seemed... LAME.
The Detour, one side was very pointless.. while the other side seemed impossible to complete. I know, the point is to completely mislead a team, but still.. that was unnecessary.
Guess we can't have the best of both worlds.

At least they got them to get a clue from the back mirror of the car.. which was interesting as Gary and Mallory fumbled and it seemed they never got their lead back again.. until at the Detour they were 3rd to get the clue but got into trouble again.

I agree the RB was lame and I don't understand why it was after the detour and I would have rather seen another KRL. That really would have shook them up. :snicker:

As least the product placement was actually related to having a clue that the teams had to solve; notice how teams had problems reading the letters for the location backwards. A legitimate clue (of which we had a few this leg.)

There have been a handful of legs where Racers are told outright that they must maintain a speed of less than X for safety reasons, and Production will penalize them if they go over that X. But most of the time, it is indeed 'go as fast as you feel is prudent' and we have seen teams getting pulled over for speeding (and I think getting tickets) in previous Races.

If Austria is like Germany, 80 is just a guideline. :lol:I checked and 81 mph (= 130 km/hr) is mandatory, not optional. The Austrian autobahn is not the German autobahn. Someone has decreed that it be safer.

When I saw Gallory struggling in the tasks, I definitely knew it was a NEL/TBC. They cannot get 6th again.

I totally agree. I was so happy the goths made it, but then (even though I love Gallory) it was a little irritating. :P Cant complain though.

I quite liked the couch detour. Perhaps it wasn't fun to watch, but it certainly was hard to do - exactly the opposite of things like bunjee jumping or helicopter rides, and I can definitely imagine teams like Ron and Chris or Mel and Mike struggle a lot carrying those couches across Vienna, especially in the snow. The chimneys were disappointing though.

And I definitely feel the physical aspect has been amped up this season. Even when we had a puzzle task with the dinosaur, it had a heavy physical aspect to it. Last season I think the two challenging physical tasks were the bridge climb in Norway and the bricks Detour in Bangladesh. This season we've seen more than that and we're not even done.

Haha had to add something else here. I don't think the eating Detour was impossible at all. I believe Gary and Jen both finished their own plates, it was just that their partners did not so the task was not considered complete. Seems like if Gary and Jen had been on the same team they would've been able to do it. :lol:

I wondered about that too, but since the cowboys were headed to the couch detour, and Gary & Mallory were just making the decision to switch, I guess that puts the cowboys ahead.
