I think they will easily make the Final 3 unless they get U-Turned. So if they can get to the U-Turn ahead of everybody I think they will be ok, but if they don't I think a lot of teams would be interested in U-Turning the cowboys cause their so strong.

Either way GO JET AND CORD.

They do, but any team who won TAR deserved it because seriously, it's the last leg that seriously matters. As much as it sucks to have a few winning teams that i do not like/hate.. but they did win and that's the fact.. :(

It is true that the final leg is entirely different from the rest of the Race, like the playoffs are to the regular season. Jet and Cord just didn't grasp this concept, while Dan and Jordan did.

I don't think they made any mistake, but rather.. Dan and Jordan outwitted them by getting to Business Class for free. (i remember?)

The Cowboys had an interesting race. Though I didn't like Carol and Brandy's attitude, they were right that the best strategic move for Brent and Caite would have been for them to U-Turn the cowboys. Also, don't forget that Jet and Cord were the last team at Seychelles but it was a non-elimination leg.

Jet and Cord made a hell load of mistakes on the leg they came in last but a NEL. They were lucky if not they would have been eliminated. And yup, Dan and Jordan played their cards better on the finale.

Kinda late but I wanted to say it anyway.  The cowboys aren't necessarily at fault for not moving up to first class for free. The reason Dan & Jordan were able to was because there was a flight attendant who took a liking to Dan and was able to do it for them. If Jet & Cord had found someone like that, they may have been able to do the same thing. So yeah, it comes down to a lot of things.

Ugh! I hate that the Cowboys are blaming Dan & Jordan "cutting" in line as the only reason they lost.  No, boys.  You lost because D/J outhustled you on the plane.  While you were sleeping, they were schmoozing their way up to First Class.

Keoghan explains the show's picks below.

Jet and Cord — Season 16, 2nd place
Last we saw them: Eventual winners Dan and Jordan cut in front of them at the airport and then pulled further ahead when they moved up to first class.
Why they deserve a second chance: As Keoghan says, the cowboys/brothers were the "obvious choice" to return, given their popularity, aw-shucks-ness and never-say-die attitude. "They struck a chord, no pun intended. Actually, I did intend it!" Keoghan jokes. "I think they represent something that is so Americana and so warm. You watch them and go, 'Man, I wouldn't mind going and having a beer with those guys.' They're just down-to-earth. My favorite part of them was that they always had the cowboy hats on. Bungee-jumping with the hats on? C'mon! I have only good things to say about them."

Bringing this here so that we don't go off-topic.

Let's take another example: Jet & Cord's attitude with Dan & Jordan at the VR task, with the cowboys screaming over the audio to confuse Jordan.

What's your take on that?

Against it, thought it was uncool. Thought that Dan and Jordan absolutely deserved to win.

Oklahoma cowboys get another shot at $1 million prize
Jet and Cord McCoy developed a large fan following in first appearance on “Amazing Race” last year

In their first appearance on “The Amazing Race” last year, Oklahoma cowboys Jet and Cord McCoy developed a large fan following with their friendly, polite demeanor and cowboy charm. Cord’s catchphrase “Oh, my gravy!” especially struck a chord with viewers. The pair made a strong run for the $1 million prize, finishing runner-up.

The cowboys get another opportunity to win the big prize in “The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business,” which premieres at 7 p.m. today on CBS. The series will be aired in HD for the first time.
The reality series consists of 11 teams of former contestants — including a team of former Harlem Globetrotters and a team of former NFL cheerleaders — in a 40,000-mile race across five continents and 23 cities. The teams travel to such picturesque spots as Australia, where they find themselves swimming with sharks; Liechtenstein, where they must measure the length of the country while riding a motorized bicycle; and Tokyo, where they must endure the freezing waters from Mount Fuji as part of a spiritual ritual.

The Oklahoma cowboys said they enjoyed the first experience so much that they were glad to get another opportunity to compete.

“They definitely named it right,” said Cord, 30, of Tupelo. “It is amazing. On ‘Amazing Race 16’ we got to go to places that I had never seen or heard of before. Each country that we went to had something cool to offer.”

“There were always places that you liked better than others,” said Jet, 31, who has a ranch near Ada. “We really liked Argentina just because it was the most like Oklahoma. It was definitely eye opening. It definitely broadened my horizons to be able to see that much country.”

The experience also earned them celebrity status in Oklahoma and beyond. The pair are featured on the cover of a new “Amazing Race” video game for Nintendo Wii.

Cord said he noticed “Oh, my gravy!” T-shirts showing up at places he has visited in recent months. “People have told me, ‘You should copyright that.’ I never even knew I said it that much until I watched the race (last year). But I do say that a lot.”

A longtime professional bull rider, Cord was swamped with autograph requests at the recent PBR event in Oklahoma City. “You sign your name or take your picture as fast as you can and try to get done before the bull riding starts,” he said.

Jet said he is surprised when people recognize him in unusual places. “It’s kind of interesting,” he said. “Most of the time they run up and they stop me and say, ‘Hey, aren’t you Cord McCoy’s brother?’ Yep, that’s me.”

Since the last series, Cord ended his bachelor status. He married Sara Best, who grew up on an Iowa ranch, on Nov. 13 in Atlantic, Iowa. The two had met at a bull riding event in Tulsa.

“It’s a funny story,” Cord said. “My dad is originally from Iowa. Sara was doing an internship at Tulsa and came up to me and said, ‘Hey, my dad told me to tell your dad hello.’ I said, ‘Who are you?’ The rest is history. I’ve been chasing her ever since.”

The couple honeymooned in Maui on a trip that the brothers had won on “Amazing Race 16.” After winning four legs of the race, they earned three trips and two sailboats. They also got an undisclosed cash prize for finishing second. They since have sold the sailboats, and Jet and his wife have plans to use the trip to Alaska.

The cowboys said the experience from the first time on the series proved valuable.
“We learned that sometimes trying to be fast isn’t always the best,” Jet said. “The mistakes we made was when we just kind of got in a hurry.”

“The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business” was taped in November and December, so the McCoy brothers already know the outcome. Last year they watched “Amazing Race 16” with friends and family at their sister Nikki’s house near Ada. Several Ada bars and restaurants hosted watch parties.

Cord admitted it can be hard to be tight-lipped and avoid revealing the outcome in advance.
At a watch party at an Iowa restaurant, he said people were frantic when the pair fell into last place.

Let's not forget that Dan/Jordan also sought to impede Cord and Jet at that V.R. task, so I don't think one side is more to blame than the other.

That's not how I remember it going down at all.

IIRC, Dan and Jordan were already at the end, in that spinning vortex of text.  If whoever it was (I always got confused as to which one was which) took a step in any direction they would put themselves outside of the circle, thus messing up their partner and wasting valuable time

And it just so happened that wherre they ended was right in the path of the cowboys (who started later and could've easily started far enough away so that it wouldn't be a problem (and it was an avoidable thing on the cowboy's part because Brent and Caite were nowhere NEAR either of the other teams at all that entire challenge)

I don't believe that D&J's refusal to move was a deliberate act of trying to knock the cowboy's back a little, as much as it was "Hey, we're trying to finish a task here, and if we're in your way then that stinks for you.  Go around.  We're not going to deliberately slow ourselves down/mess ourselves up to help you catch up to us quicker."

Something that I would've done, honestly.

From what I recall of the PBR circuit discussion in their first season, Cord is always traveling that much.

If you are refering to his bullriding schedule, I don't think that would be the best indication of whether they won. That is always full on from what I have read on the PBR website.

This is just a guess but I'd say he is like any other cowboy in the PBR - aiming to get to Las Vegas in October. To do that he needs points and money and the only way to get that is by riding in either the Built Ford Events or on the Pro-touring circuit.

GO Cowboys!!! I hope you will make in F3!!!

i happened to read jordan's tweets and i never knew there was so much hatred between the two teams.

also i know the line-cutting and first-class issue was the highlight of the finale in season 16 but i think it's a tad unfair to dan and jordan when the producers make it appear as though they were undeserving winners. just my two cents worth.

Luke, how do you feel about the TAR 14 teams slaughter happening?

I wasn't too happy about that!! It's just odd how it happened. If it weren't for twists or superlegs. The order would have been Jet & Cord in 1st leg, Ron & Christina in 2nd leg, then it probably would be still Mel & Mel in 3rd leg, then Goths in 4th leg!!!!!

That would have been SO priceless to see the Cowboys go out FIRST!!!

Most fans would have definitely been mad to see them get the boot first, including myself.
This is just my opinion.
Although I must admit that had they been eliminated they would have deserved it for sucking so badly at the roadblock.

Yep, I had the misfortune of reading Jordan's tweets too and I have to say he seems a whole lot more bitter and angry than Jet.
I thought Dan and Jordan were two of the whiniest contestants ever to grace Amazing Race to be honest, plus the way the treated the locals was pretty awful.

A real shame that they were eliminated since they were one of the most competitive teams in the show. If the Globetrotters go next then the finale won't be as interesting or suspenseful in my opinion since they're pretty much the only remaining competitive team that you have to look out for.

I hope we get to see them again though, having to do the fondu challenge on top of everything else they experienced must have been killer! Would be interesting to know how much time it took them.

I think that U-Turn was in a pretty bad part at the race. But that is just my opinion. If there was no U-Turn, Cowboys would be safe.

If there was no U-Turn this leg, they'd still be out. Last place when they got to the U-Turn. Just further last because of it.

I feel the cowboys only saw the challenges as the whole race. They didn't get that if everyone is on a flight, then taking a flight that arrives half an hour later is stupid. I'm not a cowboy fan, but I'm not gonna go dissin on them here. Those were my two (or three) cents.

It was not the u-turn that caused their elimination, they were last anyway and the only way for the Globetrotters to loose from them would be if they had lost their way to the pit stop.
IMO the cowboys lost because they never bonded with the other teams. It was obvious from previous episodes that they kept to themselves, they didn't mingle with the other teams and that lead to their demise.
We mustn't forget that TAR is not only a race but also a social game and alliances or at least good relations can be important. The cowboys didn't have that and that was obvious in at least 3 occasions in this race, a)in Sydney, when half the teams told the others the decoded message, but Jet never even thought of asking for help, b) in the flight from Calcuta to Varanasi and c) in the flight from Varanasi to Austria when the cowboys chose a different fight when they knew that all the other teams were together.
Most obvious example of their aloofness was in this episode when Jet didn't stick with Gary during the RB, if he had worked with him, they wouldn't be eliminated.

Jet and Cord were an honorable team who Raced better than other teams who consistently whine at and fight with each other. I think Racers should follow their example of hard work and teamwork.
We should celebrate their good qualities rather than kick them while they are down.

Wow, what a vile website this is...or maybe it's just the majority of the posters here.
If any good came out of the Cowboy's being eliminated (when almost every other team cheated) then it will be that I won't be visiting here again. If you are going to run a forum then how about a bit of unbiased moderating.

I agree, Lion. It think this comment was unwarranted and goes against this rule:

Quote
While it is perfectly fine to explain why you think a racer or a team did not do well in a task, or behaved badly, or just isn't your favorite, it is NOT okay to be rude or impolite in doing so. We don't allow personal attacks on each other OR on our racer friends. Comments on how they raced are fair, personal attacks are not. "Don't hate on the Racers, hate the game."

Actually Prophet I am liking his comment, but applying to it to the Cowboys would not fit the bill is all I am saying..

The rules need to be changed, the cowboys were eliminated due to the winners giving the 22km answer not just to the sister's, but also to a team that had not even completed the task - a lost globetrotter back at the start point.  Then the globetrotter gives the answer to another team.  Cooperation is one thing but giving the answer to teams that have not completed the task!  There should be penalties given.  The Cowboys played the game with honesty and integrity, never having to insult or make snide remarks about other teams.  We can only hope they get another chance one day.

I suggest you read one of the exit interviews the cowboys gave in which they mention they would have loved to be part of the information-sharing. Apparently they only "played with honesty and integrity" because nobody offered the answer to them.

Not a fan of Jets...at all, but I did respect the way he answered that question.  He basically said that he wasnt going to complain about the information sharing, because if info had been offered to him, he would have taken it gladly, so he wont complain that others did.

The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum will join venues across the nation in hosting special activities Saturday to mark the National Day of the American Cowboy
The museum, 1700 NE 63, will honor the iconic American Cowboy from 9:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Saturday.
“The cowboy is our nation’s greatest ambassador throughout the world, representing the most admired virtues of the American people,” said Don Reeves, McCasland Chair of Cowboy Culture, on the popularity of the cowboy, in a news release.
Visiting the museum to sign autographs will be Oklahoma’s own cowboy and “Amazing Race” contestant Jet McCoy. Jet McCoy and his brother Cord McCoy, who hail from Tupelo, have twice competed on the Emmy-winning reality TV show, first on Season 16 and then on the all-star Season 18 and have become fan favorites for their courtly cowboy ways.
Music entertainers will include cowboy singer-songwriter and past Western Heritage Award winner for Outstanding New Artist Gary S. Pratt and Picket Wire of Davis, along with Western music artists Jim Garling from Guthrie and the A Bar Bunkhouse Band from northeastern Oklahoma.
Additionally, three screenings of John Wayne’s feature film “The Cowboys” will be aired at 10 a.m., 12:15 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
Starting at 10 a.m. is the introduction of the Miss Rodeo Oklahoma Scholarship Pageant contestants, followed at 1:30 p.m. by the announcement of the newly crowned royalty. Seventeen young ladies are vying for titles in four age divisions ranging from age 4-24. The 2010 and 2011 pageant titleholders will sign autographs from 2 to 3 p.m.
New this year, with each museum admission receipt, guests can enter The Cowboy’s A-Blazin’ Race and receive a “Passport to the West” for a chance to win prizes. The passport will guide participants through the Museum with activities and educational questions.
On the plaza, the Oklahoma State University Rodeo Team will be on hand to demonstrate roping and Master Bladesmith Brion Tomberlin, will demonstrate knife making. Brand-themed temporary tattoos will be available all day in the Children’s Cowboy Corral along with children’s storytelling at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Oklahoma County Mounted Sheriff’s Patrol will be a part of the activities again this year to greet guests as they enter the gates of the Museum.
American Cowboy magazine launched the campaign for this national day of recognition in 2004.
Several permanent galleries at the museum focus on cowboys including, the American Cowboy Gallery, the Western Performers Gallery and the American Rodeo Gallery.

This is rodeo week here in my hometown of Pendleton, OR (a Very Big Deal around here) and our local newspaper is devoting a lot of coverage to all the rodeo events. The Professional Bull Riders Tour (PBR) is here and apparently Cord McCoy is having a good showing. He was in the lead after the first night though it appears he didn't win the event after the second night's competition. That was done by a Brazilian bull rider. At this time, I don't have the final results, so I'll try to add where Cord finished later.

Here's a link to the newspaper story:
http://tinyurl.com/cordmccoy (http://tinyurl.com/cordmccoy)

Since our paper has a habit of making stories either completely unavailable or only by subscription, I'll add the parts related to Cord here.

Reality star McCoy tops PBR round

Amazing Race’ finalist hits on both rides at Happy Canyon

The tour is named after the riders but the bulls threatened to steal the show on Monday at the first night of the U.S. Bank/Pendleton PBR Classic.

But despite just 14 qualified rides on the night, fan favorite Cord McCoy tipped the scales back in favor of the two-legged athletes with a 90-point ride on Jeff Robinson’s “Exotic Justin” in the championship round to claim a much-needed win.

“This is pretty good because right now I’m on the bubble so winning Pendleton is a huge step that could solidify my trip to the PBR World Finals,” he said. “I’ve had a couple (90-point rides this season) but it always depends what situation you’re in and it happened at a good time.”

McCoy instantly became one of the most recognizable cowboys in rodeo with his appearance on CBS’ Amazing Race and the crowd in Pendleton showered him with cheers after he topped Exotic Justin and won the $1,000 Coca-Cola/Monster bonus.

“Thirty million people watch the show but when it comes to my sport, when I put my chaps on and crawl over the chute I don’t think the bulls care too much about reality TV,” he said. “It’s always neat for people to recognize you and kind of follow you all the way around the world.”

The Tupelo, Okla., cowboy turned in an 82.5 on Corey & Horst Rodeo’s “Quick Stop” to reach the short round.

Update: Cord finished second, one point behind the winner.

The cowboys is my favourite team in TAR, they are the best team ever.  I hope they will
comeback again.

Saw some episodes of S18 recently (didn't have time during last season), glad I did.
I agree with you, they're among my fave teams on TAR ever.
Really strong competitors, solid grounded people, never playing dirty or making it personal, being able to put a positive spin on any challenge or set-back thrown their way.

Plus they made me laugh so many times in their comments..  'Oh my gravy!', 'Dag gammit!' 'Sweet!!'  Just so cute how he said that.

I just hope next time they do they sometimes look before they leap into action because silly mistakes like not checking earlier flights, leaving a map / clue in a boat, jumping in the car to drive to the wrong town after jumping to conclusions without checking first etc nearly cost them the race a couple of times. Almost made me scream at my screen, get your act together boys!!  They shouldn't make those mistakes, and if they don't they are sure to win the race at some stage I think. They'd deserve it!  :)

That may be an infinite wait. Jet and Cord had 2 shots at immortality and they failed to win either one. Why should World Race Productions/CBS give them a third chance when nobody has ever received one?  I can think of several 2-race teams I would prefer to see in a third one (Dustin/Kandice on the top of the list), but it should never happen.

I was rooting for them to win TAR 16, until the start of TAR 18, where they account their losses to Dan and Jordan "cheating" for moving up to first class...

"Cheaters don't win..."

Yea right. :cmas29

Actually, they had 4 chances: they were cast in TAR16, they came in last leg 7, they returned in TAR18, and came last Leg 1. And even with that they lost and came only in sixth place. I don't find them strong and I would prefer to see teams like Rontina or Margie & Luke return, who had "only" 2 chances, instead of them.

Speed Bumps don't count as chances, but part of the Race.....

You are right, but in order to get a SpeedBump you must have a NEL. Flamant is obviously counting NEL, not SpeedBumps, in order to get from 2 "chances" to 4 "chances".

An NEL gives you another chance... :cmaslol

apskip, although I do agree with you we won't be seeing Cowboys anytime soon again, we must keep in our mind that CBS did invited Rob to play Survivor 4X and Amazing Race X2. :cmaslol

Joab,
You are right, but I would like to think that it is more difficult to get on the "All-Stars" or "Unfinished Business" (same thing under a pseudonym) seasons on the Amazing Race than on Survivor. I know that I don't want to see such seasons any more often than once every 10 seasons. At this point 22 teams have had the privilege of being on those seasons twice. Which of these teams would I like to see a third time?
John Vito/Jill
Kevin/Drew
David/Mary
Rob/Amber
Ian/Teri
Joe/Bill
Uchenna/Joyce
Danny/Oswalt
Charla/Mirna
Dustin/Kandice
Eric/Danielle
Amanda/Kris
Mel/Mike
Jaime/Cara
Margie/Luke
Ron/Christina
Jet/Cord
Kent/Vyxsin
Zev/Justin
Gary/Mallory
Herb/Nate
LaKisha/Jennifer

My favorite team Dustin and Kandice is on that list, but still I don't want to see any of those teams come back again. Each team has had 2 chances. It's time to give other teams a chance. The answer is that I don't want to see any teams in Amazing Races a 3rd time.

Three teams I would love to see get their chance for an All-Star season are Colin/Christie, Ken/Tina and Brook/Claire as they are probably the three strongest 2nd place teams who have not had that opportunity. Who knows which additional teams might emerge before the next All-Stars/Unfinished Business season occurs?

Cord McCoy announces retirement

By: Keith Ryan Cartwright October 18, 2013@ 09:00:00 AM

Cord McCoy announced 2013 will be his final season in professional bull riding.

Highlights
◾Cord McCoy is set to retire from the PBR after making his debut in 2004.
◾The "riding red head" then made the Built Ford Tough Series in 2006 and would compete in 146 events.
◾McCoy and his brother gained national fame on the hit CBS television series the "Amazing Race."

FORT WORTH, Texas ― Cord McCoy is the latest in a trio of popular bull riders to announce his retirement.

"It feels like it's time," said McCoy. "It's not easy, I've been riding and in competition for 25 years in one way or another, so, I think, people think I'm just retiring from something I started when I was 18 and it's just been a couple years. Well, there's people who retire from being a (college) professor for 25 years and that's how long I've been doing it."

The 33-year-old from Tupelo, Okla., paused several times during a 40-minute conversation and, at times, chose his words wisely.

"You get to a point where you start to realize, hey, it's for the best," McCoy said. "Bull riding is dangerous enough anyway, and if you're not at the top of your game and you're not trying to match up against bulls like Shepherd Hills Tested, Bushwacker, Asteroid, Mick E Mouse and give them your full attention-it's dangerous enough when you can.

"It's ah," he stammered, "It's tough."

.McCoy will be a guest later today on "Western Sports Roundup," hosted by Flint Rasmussen on RURAL RADIO SiriusXM 80. McCoy will talk more about his decision and preview Monday's episode of "The Ride," which is telecast on RFD-TV.

"Western Sports Roundup" broadcasts Monday through Friday at 6 p.m. ET, while "The Ride" airs at 1 p.m. ET and again at 11 p.m.

Nicknamed "the riding redhead" by fellow Oklahoma native and former PBR broadcaster Justin McKee, McCoy has long since established himself as a perennial, fan favorite among the PBR faithful, and then later a much larger audience grew to admire him and his older brother Jet when they twice appeared on the television series "The Amazing Race."

McCoy made his PBR debut in 2004 and two seasons later made his Built Ford Tough Series debut en route to qualifying for the 2006 World Finals. He is a four-time Finals qualifier and competed at the marquee event two other times-once as an alternate and once as a regional representative.

He's ridden in 146 BFTS events and earned just shy of $500,000 in the arena.

His high-marked ride came in 2008 when he rode Big Bucks for 92.25 points at an event in Worcester, Mass. In 2009, he won the inaugural Cord McCoy Invitational in Ada, Okla., and then two years later he won back-to-back Touring Pro Division events and another in 2012 in Everett, Wash.

In 2007, he traveled to Australia where he was a member of Team USA in the inaugural PBR World Cup. McCoy then attempted the top two contenders for World Champion Bull title - Bushwacker and Asteroid - in 2011 and finished 11th in the average at the World Finals.

Prior to his PBR career, McCoy was a National Finals Rodeo qualifier in 2005, 2002 and 2003. He was the International Pro Rodeo Association all-around champion before sustaining a serious brain injury in 2004.

"Everyone loved Cord because he was so down to earth," said 2009 World Champion Kody Lostroh, who roomed with McCoy, "he cared about people and he loved the sport."

In addition to Lostroh, McCoy spent a great deal of time traveling with Austin Meier and Ryan Dirteater, as well as hitching a ride in his early years with D.H. Cattle Co. It was the time spent traveling up and down the road with H.D. Page that eventually led McCoy to raising bucking bulls.

However, he will likely be best remembered for gaining worldwide fame and admiration when he and his brother finished second in 2011 and again a year later when they finished fifth on the CBS hit series,  "The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business."

The McCoys were affectionately known among the 30 million weekly viewers as "the cowboys."

"For somebody to call you a cowboy it's an honor," said McCoy, who in addition to hosting "The Ride" raises bucking bulls with his wife Sara.

"All I've ever dreamed about being was a cowboy," he said. "It's like somebody calling you a champion in my mind. It is weird. I've carried a rigging bag around for 25 years and I take a backpack for 30 days and I can go through the airport and it's three to one people recognize me from "The Amazing Race."

Was excited to see them on UB, until they accounted heir lost to Dan and Jordan being cheaters and upgraded to First Class for free, then they were a complete train wreck in that season so yes...
