Really? Two Russia legs? I guess there's no Oman leg, then?
Not necessarily....
There should be plenty of time in St Pete for two regular legs with Pitstops. The real question seems to be could we still squeeze in Oman as an actual leg, which would make Bangladesh one leg as well.
Off hand, without rechecking all the sightings tonight, my guess would be that Oman is transit only.
But that is speculation until we relook at all the times of the sightings, and see what looks best.

Any possibilities of 13 legs?
Looks like one of the St. Petersburg legs is a non-elimination one or maybe a TBC.

Actually I think that the NEL comes in Dhaka because both Gary and Mallory and Michael and Kevin and last seen en route to St. Petersberg. (We assume that both are eliminated here.)

Not being seen is not the same as gone. There were several other sightings of teams around St Pete...I'll make one last ditch effort to get their pics.

so two legs in Russia? or or a double leg over 2 eps?
Not if Bangladesh is two legs...have a look at the Timeline and see what you think?
There are only 12 legs in TAR 17 -- direct from Phil.
We don't know for sure that there are 2 legs in Bangladesh I don't think? But not looking good for getting to Oman as a leg...looks as though that may be transit only. STill working it out.
As I said, still working on it. Have to see if there are flights that would allow timing for there to be an Oman leg...which I doubt.
If no Oman leg, then yes, that is correct.
I would like to poke a big hole in the st. Petersburg to Dhaka via Muscat theory. It makes absolutely no sense based on real flight possibilities. Please see this posting I just made on

wonder if this could be "Gorodki" or "Bunnock", both variations of the Swedish lawn game called Kubb.

looks like it's the home shoppers vs the Jumbas in the showdown for elimination :(

I don't get it why it's not compatible with the timeline. They could still be competing against Michael & Kevin for last place in Russia II, with the latter obviously being the losers if that's the case. I base this on Kevin being pessimistic on the preview and that, according to the timeline they have a 50% chance of being out. So far this Season has been full of flips already...looks like it's the home shoppers vs the Jumbas in the showdown for elimination :(
Home shoppers =Brook/Claire.

Sure does...one of TWO possible teams.
Brook and Claire were confirmed spotted both in Hong Kong and in Korea. They are not going anywhere this week.
I think perhaps you may mean Mallory and Gary? Very sadly, they have not been seen past this point...

Okay, sorry Dan, I wasn't getting your point.
But let's look back at the actual quote anyway...it is two RACERS not two TEAMS.... which is moot since we know the lawn game will be a RB.
But pretty much the promos never give away the outcome for a particular team....
I read this as elimination leg, two racers struggling, and possibly suggesting the RB comes last. And infer that the whatever team is shown struggling may be safe.
CBS and WRP are very good at putting out short press releases and then putting "other" people in the preview to make viewers think their fav team is about to be eliminated. I doubt very seriously that either Brooke or Michael are the two racers alluded to in that press release.
Would Kevin and Michael end up last place in Episode 7? :'(
I wouldn't want that to happen. Is this true?

And keep them spinning!
Here is a slide of photos with text from promo 2. It appears that Nick decieves Brooke\Claire and Michael\Kevin, but this could be a fabrication.
Well, now...I had expected the cap below to be near the church. But it's actually at Muchnoy bridge (http://www.saint-petersburg.com/bridges/muchnoy-bridge.asp), quite a bit farther down the canal. (map and viewpoint (http://maps.yandex.ru/-/CRX9Ztt)) The only other church, if you continue down the canal, is the Sailor's Cathedral, and the names are not similar. ???

It's also possible that Nick didn't intentionally mislead Brook & Claire and Michael & Kevin, but Kevin mistakenly believes that Nick did so. But I doubt Michael & Kevin are the ones going home, fortunately for them.

Please excuse me if i missed this in this thread,
Any chance that there is a Intersection and that why we see Brook and Kevin together and The Docs and Bikers?
Number 37 has me confused. If that's really Phil, why is he standing at the gorodki courts (roadblock)? :groan: We never see the host at a roadblock, let alone anywhere else but the pitstop during the race(unless if he is coming to tell the last place team that everyone else has finished and they have been eliminated).:duno:
Oh, OK, must be recording his stand-up... intersting, showing a stand-up in with the previews. LOL

No, there are seven teams. If those you said are together and Chad/Stephanie were with Jill/ Thomas (as an example) who do Gary/Mallory go with?
However, there could be one in Oman as they usually do it when there are six teams.

With the Intersection talk and the multiple promos, one question comes to mind: where's Gary/Mallory?
I know they're likely to be eliminated here, but what if it's the opposite? What if they're ahead, either from a FF or just plain skill (and then get bunched in Oman and lose next leg). Did Phil explicitly state that the sheep head was the only FF this season?

I suppose it is possible that they force one team to do a FF in order to have the other six do an Intersection. However, this sort of conclusion seems to me to be the result of over-analyzation.

It doesn't look like the bus is even used by the teams as everything is too close together for that. I can definitely see how the leg could work out like this:
1. Teams go to the Church first and wait for it to open (some teams may get lost or misdirect others between the PS and the church)
2. They do the RB at Gorodki all arriving at similar times
3. Some teams take longer than others there
4. They do the Detour at the circus
5. The Pit Stop is somewhere closer to the circus
The way he's jumping (and the teams behind him) make me think they got hit with HoO at Avtovo. Also, I thought this season might set a record with two fake bears; but that bear might be real (see the ppt presentation here (http://www.russkie-prostori.com/ppt_item.aspx?ID=56)).

Slowhatch......
I think the backpacks are already on the bus. I think teams without backpacks got there early, put their backpacks on the bus, then went sightseeing to wait out the departure time. Screencaps 18,19,20 look like a queue to get on the bus. Maybe one of those........."Get a departure time and take a charter bus" deals to another location. I see no indication of anything to do with that church or its museum. I think it is get a charter bus in the square in front of the church. Four teams are seen.....N/K, N/V, M/K, and B/C. Since the Peter and Paul Fortress is on its own little island, there may be driving restrictions there. So Production gets them charter buses to take them there? The teams without backpacks could just be sightseeing around the area waiting for the bus to leave at a certain time. If that is the case, then it appears that K/N helped Nick and Vicki find the location of the bus.
I think it is...detour first, then roadblock. The preview from last week sort of spells that out......with two racers fighting it out with the lawn game to escape elimination.
Looks like Jill/Thomas tried both sides of the detour.......plates or accordian. Stephanie is seen at the P and P fortress. No Gary or Mallory in any shots that I could see.
The 3 missing teams could be sitting on the bus for all we know.
Btw, St Petersburg is @ 60 degrees North Latitude. The sun will go down, but it will not get dark at that time of year. Pretty much the same as Anchorage, Ak at that time of year.
Why do you think that the detour is first? It looked like on the map that it would make more sense for them to go over to Gorodki and then head south towards the circus. I know the promo made it look that way but I have found that those can be deceptive.

If you visit the TAR 17 Maps Thread, you will see many excellent maps created by Neobie. You will notice that many routes loop back on themselves. In short, the order of an episode is not designed to make "map sense". The producers have other reasons for their construction of a TAR leg.

That's very true, but the only problem I see is that that explanation almost makes the leg too easy to figure out. I find it hard to believe that Brook and Claire and Michael and Kevin are fighting it out at the end. If that is true then we know that B/C will not be eliminated and having the promo basically telling us who will be eliminated does not make sense to me.
You forget that the promo does not tell the average person who is getting eliminated.
If you did not look at this forum, or indeed any spoilers, you wouldn't know that B/C make it to the top 3, thus it would all be up in the air. You're overthinking things, Prophet. Just relax.

I don't think the average fan would have even noticed that Brooke could be seen in that shot and thus would assume that Michael's ineptitude at tasks would lead to their elimination. Especially considering that they included and highlighted the overly dramatic quote by Kevin "we're going to be last because of this."
I think that if the average viewer saw M/K eliminated in Ep. 07 they would find it to be anti-climatic and be surprised that so much had been revealed in the promo.
Video evidence shows Michael struggling at the Roadblock. The written promo says 2 teams struggle at the Roadblock. Who is the second team? My speculation is that is one of the teams not shown at the Roadblock. I suspect Brook waltzes into the task, promptly knocks down the blocks, does her little dance and heads off. Translation - Brook does not struggle with the Roadblock.
We will find out this Sunday. Don't forget the time change!

But it hasn't. All that's been "revealed" is that Mike misses a couple of shots and that Kev thinks they are going to come last. Although I suppose that is a big deal considering they are literally the only team ever to face that situation. :colealert:
Why are we making such a big deal of the promo? They do this nearly every week, yet we find that the team that was seemingly in so much trouble pulls through. I repeat: You are over thinking things

It appears that my hypothesis is incorrect. The Avtovo Circus is at Avtovskaya ul 1A Avtovo, metro stop Avtovo, second from the last to the south on line M1 (see above Metro map). A map of that is here: http://www.lonelyplanet.com/russia/st-petersburg/entertainment-nightlife/circus/circus-in-avtovo
The St. Petersburg State circus has a huge performance space. The tent I see in the above photos of the Avtovo Circus is not going to hold 2345 people.

??? ??? ???
The Timeline doesn't say that at all, I don't think.
I think Nick & Vicki, now that all the cannon fodder teams (and the stronger, but screwed Katie & Rachel) are gone, are pretty much Dandrewing or Brian & Ericka-ing their way through the race -- getting by only because someone makes a more egregious error than they do. But unlike either of those teams, they don't see it unjustly rewarded with a F3 finish.
Teams are clowning around when they learn a traditional Russian circus act, but it's no joke when multiple teams make a critical error and misread a clue, jeopardizing their positions in the Race on the next episode of The Amazing Race.
Well, it doesn't specifically say that Gary & Mallory are the team that goes home. All it says is that Gary & Mallory and Michael & Kevin weren't spotted beyond St. Petersburg. Thus one of those two teams head for Elimination Station after St. Petersburg. However, there are rumors that Michael & Kevin were doing a decoy run in South Korea, which indicates that they didn't go to Elimination Station.
QuoteTeams are clowning around when they learn a traditional Russian circus act, but it's no joke when multiple teams make a critical error and misread a clue, jeopardizing their positions in the Race on the next episode of The Amazing Race.
So the critical error appears to happen during the circus challenge?
So the critical error appears to happen during the circus challenge?I'm still guessing it pertains to the walkabout (although if they all get on the same bus I don't see how their positions would be "jeopardized"). Also, unless they did some photo-trickery, Nick is walking west: his "moron" comment might be self-chastisement.
Well, Nat & Kat and Nick & Vicki seem to be together at that church, so maybe their teams made the mistake?

I agree that Nick & Vicki make the mistake but perhaps Brooke & Claire and Michael & Kevin are the other teams that make the critical mistake and Nat & Kat merely catch up to them and point out the right way.

If you add some brightness to the cap, the Pinkies can be seen behind Jumba. With the first three teams running in, I think it's like the Russian sub from an earlier season: the leading teams arrive very early in the morning and have to wait for the circus to open.
Not sure if this matters but the circled team looks like Brooke and Claire.

To me the circled team looks more like Nick & Vicki.

I second the motion.

I agree, too. One of the team members looks too tall to be Brook or Claire, but seems to have Nick's frame. Not sure if this matters but the circled team looks like Brooke and Claire.

Me too.
The father is Michael, furybaby.
At the end of the prior episode, I could not believe that Phil made no mention of the SpeedBump that is supposed to be automatic for the last-place finisher in an NEL leg. This leg showed no SpeedBump at all, so someone at World Race Productions may have forgotten to put one in. How is this possible from a fairness point of view. Now, due to the penalties of Michael/Kevin and Brook/Claire, Nick/Vicky would not have been eliminated by doing a task taking approximately 30 minutes. However, there's something rotten in Denmark( Or was it St. Petersburg?).they probably edited out the Speedbump reference on the last episode after the editors chose to cut it from this one
There are rumors at s***** that there was no Speedbump as a credit due to a production mistake during the last leg in which one of the judges at the Piano Detour had told Nick & Vicki they were wrong when they were in fact right. They say Nick posted it in his FB.

Can we assume that the detour may be before the scene outside the church?
If so then N/K, N/V, M/K and B/C would finish the detour before the the others. This theory is supported by the fact that Jill and Thomas switch on the Detour tasks. This would also make it possible for C/S to be eliminated because Micheal will take a long time at the RB allowing C/S to catch up but she will not overtake him.
Here is my speculated order to the leg:
1. Detour; N/K, N/V, M/K and B/C have no trouble :yess:
2. Probably picking up several clues before getting to the RB :yess:
3. Those four arrive at about the same time at the RB :duno:
4. All but M/K finish and leave to check in to the PS :yess:
5. G/M, C/S and J/T arrive at the RB ;)
6. G/M and J/T finish the RB leaving "two racers to battle it out" :groan:
7. Chad and Stephanie are eliminated and M/K slide several spots to sixth. :groan:
I think Nick & Vicki did their Speedbump. The reason why they probably did'nt mention that there will be a Speedbump in Episode 6, could be because they planned to edit out the Speedbump task in this episode, as it was probably something insignificant(i.e Took less than 15 minutes to complete) and did not affect their placement anyways. :duno:

I can't wait to hear about what Nick and Vicki has to say regarding this!!
could it have been a task they had to do before the detour and maybe that's why it was edited out?
if they arrived at the detour, and the clue happened to be out in front of the circus gate, then they could very likely go, perform the task, and then make it back to the circus before it opened.
and they edited it out because it had no weight in the actual leg itself
