BIG BROTHER, the perennial summer reality hit, will return for its 13th edition next summer on the CBS Television Network.
This summer's 12th edition of BIG BROTHER is posting year-to-year increases, up +5% in viewers (7.64m vs. 7.26m), +4% in adults 18-49 (2.7/09 vs. 2.6/08), +10% in adults 18-34 (2.3/08 vs. 2.1/07) and +3% in adults 25-54 (3.2/09 vs. 3.1/09).
"Big Brother is our summer hero," said Jennifer Bresnan, executive vice president, alternative programming, CBS Entertainment. "Every year, our producers deliver innovative twists and turns, consistently evolving this proven franchise and engaging one of the most loyal and interactive fan bases on television and online."
Online, BIG BROTHER continues to grow with CBS.com seeing a +15% increase in full-episode views compared to a similar period last summer.
The special two-hour finale of this summer's edition of BIG BROTHER, when Lane, Enzo and Hayden will compete for the $500,000 prize, will be broadcast tonight (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) following the premiere of "Survivor: Nicaragua."
BIG BROTHER, hosted by Julie Chen, follows a group of people living together in a house outfitted with over 52 cameras and 95 microphones recording their every move 24 hours a day. Each week, the Houseguests vote someone out of the house. Tonight, the last remaining Houseguest will receive the grand prize of $500,000.
BIG BROTHER 12 is executive produced by Emmy Award-winning producer Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan for Fly on the Wall Entertainment, in association with Endemol U.S.A.

Robyn Kass Every Big Brother preseason we’re flooded with auditioning questions on how to apply, nail the audition, and end up in the BB House. While I’d consider myself quite the Big Brother connoisseur and a dedicated fan since the first season I’ll be the first to admit that when it comes to casting the best reality show evah, I only know what I’ve gleaned from those more adventurous than me. So, armed with a stack of the most often asked casting questions and my own curiosities of what goes on behind the curtain, I turned to Big Brother Casting Director Robyn Kass of Kassting Inc., who graciously agreed to be interviewed and share her unmatched insight.
Robyn Kass has lead the casting for Big Brother for the past decade since Big Brother 2 along with 26 other reality shows including Survivor, The Bachelor, and The Bachelorette. Having earned her first casting gig with Big Brother in 2001 it’s easy to see Robyn’s professional and personal interests shine through when it comes to making sure each season has the very best Houseguests possible.
So if you’re planning on filling out that Big Brother 13 application, submitting your audition video, and even attending every casting event in your area, then read on to find out everything you should know going in to the casting process.
Robyn Kass on making your Big Brother audition the best it can be:
Big Brother Network: What tends to grab your attention the most in an audition?
Robyn Kass, Kassting Inc.: It’s pretty easy to tell when someone is trying too hard. It’s difficult to explain, but we can tell if you’ve rehearsed what you’re gonna say. Don’t do it. Come in fresh minded, but willing to open up and talk. If we ask you a question, give explanations and stories to back up what you’ve said. We like examples…. if you say “I’m controversial” our next question will probably be “great, give us an example of being controversial….” that’s when there’s usually a LONG pause. Don’t say things if you can’t back it up.
BBN: What are the top three things you’d recommend avoiding during an audition?
Kass: 1. Avoid one word answers….. “So, it says on your application you have 7 sisters, wow”…. “yep”. We’ve just given you a huge opening to tell us about your big family and you answered with “yep”, happens all the time.
2. Avoid dressing in something that isn’t “YOU”. Please come to an audition dressed nice, I always say that, but dress in your style. If you’re not a suit and tie guy do not wear one. If you’re a girl who’s more comfortable in jeans, wear jeans and a cute top. You’ll do better in your audition if you look good, feel good and are comfortable.
3. Remember, it’s not a job interview. You do not have to be “PC” with your answers. Don’t worry about offending us or keeping it “clean”, if you’re a person who cusses, go for it. We want to see the real you…. I always tell people to talk to me like they’re having beers with their closest friends.
BBN: Settle the age old question. Which gives applicants a better chance: in-person audition or video submission?
Kass: Really, it doesn’t matter. At this time in the game, season 13, we know what we want….. we watch every tape that comes in and we watch the open calls too, so wherever you feel more comfortable. Some people are more at ease at home, with their friends around and some people like to meet us in person, some like to do both. We’ve had contestants on BB who have applied every way possible, so no right answer.
BBN: What’s the one thing you wish every applicant knew going in to his or her audition?
Kass: I like every person to be unique. I just wish everyone would relax and have a good time. Nothing worse than leaving an interview thinking “I wish I said this or that”.
Robyn Kass on past Big Brother Houseguests:
BBN: Which HG has surprised you the most once you saw him or her in action inside the house?
Kass: Hummmm, great question. I’m probably surprised at the same moments all the viewers are surprised….. Jerry motor boating April, Joe talking about STDs, Chima breaking rules, Howie with his “personal moments” in the pool shed…. I could probably go on. I’m guessing it would be the same list as any fan.
BBN: How often are HGs cast with the expectation to clash or hookup but end up getting along or having no chemistry?
Kass: We don’t really have any of those expectations going into the house. We know the stress of the house will bring out the best and worst in people and will result in conflict and romance, it just does. But we don’t go in thinking specific people will bump heads or hook up.
BBN: How many super fans keep showing up year after year like last season’s Matt Hoffman?
Kass: Lots, and I hope they never stop. I’m sure the true fans know how many cast members applied year after year before getting on (e.g., Dick, Dan, Kail, Matt, Ronnie)
Robyn Kass on Big Brother season themes:
BBN: Do auditions ever drive the season’s theme (as a pattern emerges) or do CBS and Allison Grodner Productions direct your team to look for certain angles/styles?
Kass: All twists come from CBS and AGP (Allison Grodner Productions).
BBN: Which past season theme has been your favorite to cast?
Kass: HA! Most fun?? The twists are always very difficult for us to cast. As difficult as the themes are it makes my job challenging and never dull. It’s Sophie’s Choice, I can’t choose.
BBN: If you could suggest a theme to production, what would it be and why?
Kass: Absolutely no idea.

PU-LEEEEEZE let this be an interesting season. No repeat anything, including past house guests. (That means NO Jesse!) No special twists to save someone. Put them in the house, give them slop and see what happens. I would accept the cold storage room again, I liked that evil punishment. :snicker:

Big Brother Access can confirm that Big Brother 13 will be back airing 3 nights a week this summer. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sunday’s are when you’ll be able to catch all the hijinks inside the house. The official announcement should come soon.

Per BB casting, they say it is now complete and they are in the process of selecting the houseguests. They will be informed at the end of the month. That will give them a month to prepare and get ready to go in sequester at the end of June. They should be entering the Big Brother house on Saturday afternoon, July 2nd.

I think we'll have 14 this time as it was supposed to be 14 last year but we all know that one girl backed out during sequester last year and it was too late to replace her.

Mobile apps will be avaible!! :jumpy: at the cost of initial Early Bird sign up you can OPT IN for the app package for $9.99 for the season. The apps will be availble on July 7th season premier day.

If you already have the subscription to Superpass and want to add on the apps it's $499 per month.
Even though you were able to use your phones (android, iphones etc..) last season you may not be able to get the full effect or any feeds for that fact. Real and CBS have changed the program to make it more secure. Along with making the phone app smaller in data footprints as to not drain battery life or run up data plans

Looks like it would be best to get the feeds and droid/iPhone app at the same time. $29.99 plus $9.99 for 3 months, live feeds and the phone app if that's something you want. (Caution, driving or walking and watching the feeds on your cell is not advisable!) :lol:
If we miss the Early Bird Special, the cost will be $45.00 for the season, or I believe, $14.99 a month. The feeds will be available tomorrow morning as far as we know now and buying them from RFF helps to keep our forum online!

from what i understand there's an option as you sign up for the mobile app. however it wont be ready till july 7th. so if you already signed up for the EB special via RFF you can call real player back / or access thier website and ad the app for the $9.99 for the 3 months or you can do it for $4.99 per month.. incase you're not sure you want it. make sure to mention the site yo got the EB from so they get the credit for the sale of the app. :tup:

Cbs has pushed the release date of the mobile app to the premier day which is July 7th.
In order to add your mobile app on the discount you must go back to the ad- BUY LIVE FEED - click through it and add the mobile app for the $9.99.
Even if you want to be on the monthly plan @ $4.99 you want to go thru the BUY FEED LINK at RFF so that ROB can get credit for the app purchase.

I got word that the house guests are already in sequester. They arrived in LA yesterday.
Now I hear the pics of the house won't be released until Tuesday and the house guests' profiles, pictures and bios should be out Wed morning if not sooner.
The house guests will enter the house on Saturday, July 2nd at about 5pm LA time.

There will be 13 house guests...at least two will be from previous seasons. Consider them "unlucky" house guests from their first time around. Ten are rumored to be in sequester already with the 3 returning HGs waiting to return to the house later this week.

I like the circular bed in the HOH room. Don't think we've seen one of those since the old configuration of the house (when it was one floor). I like the beds in that first bedroom as well.
The dining room/kitchen looks cool; I like the bench-like chairs they have this year.

There were two circular beds side by side in the middle of that room. Kail and Jen slept on one and Dick and Mike slept on the other. Dick kept them up all night with his loud snoring. Dick had the whole room to himself when the other three got evicted. Mike went out week 3, Kail week 5 and Jen week 7.

The houseguests are supposed to enter the house today but like I said the other day, heard it was pushed back a day. We shall see. Last year CBSTweet posted a pic of Andrew fist pumping in the air right after he walked through the door just moments after it happened, so hoping we get a pic like that again.

Also really hoping that this isn't a pairs season. After the disaster that was the winter season, having a summer pairs season would be so much worse.

Do we know who is coming back yet?
I have to tell you guys, that outside of Janelle, Jeff and Jordan were my favorite BB houseguests.
However, neither of them were really great players....they only made it as far as they did because America loved Jeff and gave him the Coup de-tat! If he had not had it, he would have been evicted by Jesse about 6th or 7th and Jordan would have followed right after.
Also, if Chimera hadnt shown her ass, the others defintely would have evicted Jeff and Jordan QUICKLY!
Without America's help and without fools for opponents, Jeff and Jordan wont last long....and that sucks!

I didn't start watching till season 11, but I went back and watched almost all the old shows, and had a blast. Liked J&J, Liked ED and Dani, hated Rachael and Brendon. One thing's for sure. It should be a lot more exciting than last season, although I did enjoy some of it. I'm starting to get excited after reading this. I enjoy seeing people I already "know".

I checked my TV directory and BBAD will not start until 1am tonight and run til 4am but starting tomorrow and for the rest of the season, it'll be 12am to 3am. So don't expect the feeds to start until 1am due to the show airing on the west coast.

It seems to me that eliminating people from the list of possible returning HGs due to them being online at some point is a little crazy. If I were TPTB, knowing how crazy us rabid followers are, I'd make sure that anyone even in the running would be online right up to the reveal of the real returnees. Someone that is all of a sudden not posting makes it too easy for us to figure it out.
That being said (and the reason I quoted you), I would also LOVE to see Crazy James and Chelsia back. I don't do Twitter, but I do have James as a friend on facebook and he's a pretty frequent updater with random daily activity posts. On Sunday, he posted that he was sick and he hasn't posted since. And didn't someone say that Chelsia was a no-show for her most recent show? I can't remember what the reason was.
As much as I adore Jeff & Jordan, I'd rather see them come back for an all-stars season. If the three returning couples were ED/Danielle, Brendan/Rachel, and Chelsia/James....that would be a recipe for craziness and drama.
I can't believe I just made a post suggesting that I ever have to lay eyes on Brendan and his drag queen again, but I did. The ONLY reason I'd want to see them return is to watch ED and James and Chelsia team up to terrorize them for a few weeks.

I pointed out that Chelsia has been missing from superpass... I haven't seen her or heard her voice on any of the live shows for over a week now... BUT... there has been a lot of talk about her being very busy behind the scenes working with the latest Superpass and chat launch so I doubt she will be on the show tonight...
With that said though, you just never know. You are right to suspect people even though they still appear to be online... CBS is really good about getting people to follow red herrings.

That's the phrase I was looking for....thank you. It also wouldn't surprise me if they were planting all of the suggestions about the duos that ARE going in. Just to stir up interest. I have to say....I don't remember a premier night that was this anticipated in a long time. I myself usually wait until several weeks in to even buy the feeds, but I signed up a week ago. I'm super excited to see ED in action, ESPECIALLY if he takes his frustrations out on Brendan & Rachel. If, however, these three should, for some unknown reason, decide to join forces and spread their 'love', I'm not sure what I'll do. My only reason to continue watching at that point would be in the hopes that one or all of them get drunk and do a header into the hot tub.
