My best bet is that filming may occur between now and Mid-August. So they would have the time to do final editing before the Fall TV Season begins in Late September.Bertram and Elise have more or less said every start will be in L.A. from now on. At least until they can get their budget back up again.
Hopefully no more Los Angeles Start

When does everyone think TAR 17 filming will start?

Be ready.
Yes, There is a TAR 17.....
hey guys,
I know for sure that the Race started today. I know someone and their partner that will be on the race. They had their LA rounds back in Mid March during Spring Break.
On your mark.....
We believe that we will be seeing a possible non-LA start soon....so stay alert and be ready!

Can I just jump in here and say... :yess:? (No offense to anyone.)

GO!!!On your mark.....
Get set.....
Remember that TAR13 was filmed from April 22 to May 14, and it still aired in September. The race may begin some time after Memorial Day weekend, which is a busy travel time. So they could start sometime in June.
Let's just put it this way - check out Twitter, Facebook, whatever you can at some point within the next 24 hours.:'( NOOOOO, I'm away tomorrow! :'( I'm going to miss out on all the fun!!!

Get set.....
So what happened to starting in Los Angeles again? Did they get a larger budget and would it mean possibly we might get 13 legs again this season since All-Stars?
90 MINUTES!!! :hearts:
Thanks Mac!!
Amazing Race 17 premieres Sunday, September 26 with a special 90-minute premier 8:30 - 10:00 p.m.Sounds like there'll be a lot in this premiere!
It then resumes its 8:00 - 9:00 p.m. regular timeslot the following week.

Personally I love the 90 minuet opening legs of Season 4 and 10. Enough time to get to the names and faces of the teams (especially for the general public who haven't got them down months before it airs) and enough time to showcase teams doing real tasks. Even on first legs I have liked, I feel we miss a ton, and sometimes with the two hour single episodes it seems like a little to much filler. For CBS its a win win, and expanding the footage for 90 minutes cost them a small fraction more (primarily due to more editing) and reaps them a 50% increase in revenue. And since TAR isn't really syndicated (not really) they don't have to worry about the difficulty in selling it for an off network run.
But based off of this it looks like an 11 episode season (of course they could always air two episodes over one night).

With the money rolling in (has to be if the show was finally able to start out of L.A. and on the East Coast for the first time in ages), it might be twelve. Such a late start in September does sound like eleven, but depending on the finale date, it could be twelve. (I'm still thinking a December 5 finale means eleven, and a December 12 finale means twelve.)
We probably could figure it out based on the typical pattern of the Sunday finale for Survivor. Though it would also help to know the number of episodes ordered for Undercover Boss to see if its likely to see a two hour block of TAR sometime during the cycle. This is something they have done during the spring on Sunday's but not so far in the Fall on Sunday. That would certainly help, yes.

Based off of what? Why do we think it will only be 11? I think I missed something. :duno:
Maybe there'll be a two-hour episode midway through the season like TAR7, TAR8, and TAR11.But based off of this it looks like an 11 episode season (of course they could always air two episodes over one night).

Typically the season ends on the first Sunday of December. That only gives 11 weeks. I'm hoping that there are 12 legs, and the last 2 legs comprise TAR 17's 2-hour season finale a la TAR 5 (there's a really big gap between Ghana and St. Petersburg).
