Have they replaced the globe logo with the new orange logo?

For the promos, yes. It seems they do a different one every season.

Oh, only for the promos, I see.
The flashing orange logo reminds me of Mario.

Putting up the new locations...

The Birdman Rally? What does that have to do with anything? (:;)

Thanks, Neobie. Since they normally don't release stuff beyond the first couple of eps, I'll say the ropeline is in Valpo and the the llamas (guanacos?) are on Isla Margarita (http://www.flickr.com/photos/navarrz/tags/islamargarita/), a private island on Todos Los Santos. I see a Birdman Competition (http://www.worthingbirdman.co.uk/) (?), or maybe an "amazing" replica.

Added: This German travel blog (http://www.umdiewelt.de/Die-Amerikas/Suedamerika/Chile/Reisebericht-3128/Kapitel-15.html) claims the animals are alpacas (bottom of page); I can't honestly tell the difference. The alpaca farm/Roth family compound are the only buildings on the island.

I think they have the start line ID'd in Destinations

Yep, slowhatch has it!

I think it's the Vista Hermosa (http://www.lamountains.com/parks.asp?parkid=672) park.

Haha, thank you. I tried searching for it on Google Maps and it wasn't developed as of the time the satellite picture was taken  (:;) Darn it Google Maps!

And the background is sort of alpine; the task is probably along the Cruce de Lagos axis. But like Neobie said, the Birdman Rally doesn't seem to have a Chilean connection.

Was it originally shot in HD? Do I finally have to retire my SD TV and get HD for this season?

:duno: Hi all been away on bussiness for a while and as always you folks do a great job. Just my 2 cents but the black pararasailing wetsuits are black but they have pull on feet that look like some kind of bird feet and there is some kind of a birds head on top. So it looks like it is suppose to be some kind of bird flying off into the water. At least thats what it looks like to me. Keep up the good work. PS maybe a Pufffin? :duno:

1220 Colton St, at the north entrance of Vista Hermosa Park. Now isn't Street View helpful!
(Well, if we need to put it down in black and white, Walt Disney Concert Hall is on the way to the nearest Metro station...)

So its probably the bus the teams were taken to the starting line on - even though it looks the same colour as the FlyAway Bus.

And with the Super Bowl and the 90th NFL season finale next week, there are no breaks in television (for me at least).  Hard to believe TAR is almost here.  It'll be here before I realize it; time is flying as usual!

TAR in HD?  Meh.  That would've rocked, but one thing that's worse than no TAR in HD is no TAR.

Is this webcap recycled old stuff? I got a lot of hits for Blasmusik (oompah, more or less) for Puerto Varas, but few hits for Bariloche. I tried looking for the registered silks at the Santiago Club Hipico--no joy. I don't recognize the bridge as well.

I think you're right, it's llamas. A graphic here (http://firekite.com/store/misc/pics/random/alpaca_llama.jpg). Another difference: llamas have curved ears, alpacas straight ears. So judging by this cap, I'll agree it's llamas.

Almost looks like a college campus to me...course we already figured out that it WAS in fact the concert hall back one page.

:'(

Yea, no HD really is :'( but if I put on my HD CBS channel and expand to full screen it actually looks pretty good...and definitely much better than regular CBS. HD Cameras may still be a little too heavy for the staff to carry for an extended period of time but, then again, what do I know? lol

I have seen one (Tues night??) with Caite, it starts with her as Miss SC and then shows her in the Race.  I also hear (but haven't seen) there is one of Jordan of Jeff/Jordan being aired as well.  So hopefully, we will one for all the teams.

Indeed. I'm a little worried about the "bandits" task, because that looks like another one of the staged tasks that I hate. But the rest of the tasks seem to have more merit (and they aren't made up or stereotypical, per se).

The Weissers own Onces Bellavista (http://www.oncesbellavista.cl/index.php?id=5), so that's probably the "family farm" where the baking task takes place.

The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (Iglesia del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús) is the most striking feature of Puerto Varas. It was built between 1915 & 1918, built entirely of oak and was modelled on the Marienkirche in the Black Forest. This Catholic Church is still in use, so please check at the front entrance to see if it is open.

Directions: Located on María Brunn, on top of a hill. Visible from the whole town.

This is going to be an awesomely beautiful leg.

I was thinking it wasn't quite right for horse racing and thought it looked like a polo player with the mallet cropped out. However, I figured that polo playing pointed more towards an Argentina leg, probably Buenos Aires, and we had ruled that out. So I kept my mouth shut. On hindsight, that guy looks big for a jockey and the horse is small for a race horse.  :groan:

The "bandits" in the detour may be inspired by Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid:

Quote from: Wikipedia
On February 20, 1901, together with Ethel "Etta" Place, Longabaugh's female companion, they departed to Buenos Aires, Argentina, aboard the British steamer Herminius, Parker posing as James Ryan, Place's fictional brother. There he settled with Longabaugh and Place in a four-room log cabin on a 15,000-acre (61 km²) ranch that they purchased on the east bank of the Rio Blanco near Cholila, Chubut province in west-central Argentina, near the Andes.

On February 14, 1905, two English-speaking bandits, who may have been Parker and Longabaugh, held up the Banco de Tarapacá y Argentino in Río Gallegos, 700 miles (1,130 km) south of Cholila, near the Strait of Magellan. Escaping with a sum that would be worth at least US $100,000 today, the pair vanished north across the bleak Patagonian steppes.

On May 1, the trio sold the Cholila ranch because the law was beginning to catch up with them. The Pinkerton Agency had known their location for some time, but the rainy season had prevented their assigned agent, Frank Dimaio, from traveling there and making an arrest. Governor Julio Lezana had then issued an arrest warrant, but before it could be executed Sheriff Edward Humphreys, a Welsh Argentine who was friendly with Parker and enamored of Etta Place, tipped them off.

The trio fled north to San Carlos de Bariloche where they embarked on the steamer Condor across Nahuel Huapi Lake and into Chile. However by the end of that year they were again back in Argentina; on December 19, Parker, Longabaugh, Place and an unknown male took part in the robbery of the Banco de la Nacion in Villa Mercedes, 400 miles (650 km) west of Buenos Aires, taking 12,000 pesos. Pursued by armed lawmen, they crossed the Pampas and the Andes and again reached the safety of Chile.

Great find!  I've attached a kmz. There's a regulation-sized polo field (300x160 yds.) about a mile west of the the bridge. But since Detour choices are usually close together, another candidate might be the field just north of the bridge marked by the arrow. It's half the size of a regulation field, but it does have a small shack in about the same place as the cap.

Onces Bellavista has a bite-sized zipline (several photos in the album here (http://picasaweb.google.com/xvsanchez/InviernoEnPuertoVaras#5226310829822701586)).
About Margarita...If the llamas are part of a Detour, and it's on an island, then I'll guess the other half is the condor jump ("llama or condor"). There are a few photos like this one (http://www.flickr.com/photos/navarrz/2354027546/) of the boat landing where production might build a platform, but not enough photos to call a match.

The only flights out from Terminal 4 between 20min and 60min of the Miami flight are to Saint Louis, Roswell, San Jose, San Diego and Monterey... Hardly the hubs to connect to Santiago, eh? Maybe it's Dallas after all, but a later, not earlier flight?

It's very reasonable, considering that both the boat cap and the llama cap both show rainy weather: the boats were taxis to Isla Margarita. I wonder if they will work it like Isla Redonda (two teams every 20 minutes, etc.). Anyway, here's a pano (http://www.vrpanoramas.cl/virtual-360.php?lago_todos_los_santos01&java=1) of the TLS boat dock and fwiw a pano (http://www.vrpanoramas.cl/virtual-360.php?paseo_21_de_mayo&java=1) of the top of Artilleria.

:jumpy: I just saw a new preview for episode 2. It was after Lets's Make a Deal and before Dr. Phil. At about 2:55 pm central Time.

I forgot to add I saw footage of Monique or Shawne milking a cow and it looks like it kicks out twords her head. So I bet one of them will saw "When the cow kicked me in the head" the quote for episode 2 ?  :duno:
I've got it, give me a few minutes, had some PC connection problems to work out.

Isn't that Carol...I think if you look earlier in the preview you can see her wearing the same jacket or it looks similar to me.

eta: Look during the llamas clips that is when you can see it, she appears to be wearing the same hat as well also if you look when they are at the bus station she is also wearing that jacket.

Takeoff from 15 feet above the water gives a totally different perspective on the task than vs. Cerro Bayo at around 18,000 feet. Too bad, as this could have been more than a novelty act.

Sailing, you have inadvertently burst my bubble. I will survive.

^Somehow I think that Brent & Caite are first to that detour.

I am disappointed a well. Wish it was higher.

All I want to know is why the previews have to feature Brent & Caite or Jeff & Jordan all the time. How about another team?

And yes, that task looks really lame now.

Sorry to burst your bubble.  :kuss:  I thought they would jump off a canyon and hanglide into the water below. Maybe next season.

No tall cliffs?  (:;)
I swear I saw it in the TAR 16 previews. Was that something else (hang gliding maybe)?

Teams did hang gliding off a cliff side of a mountain overlooking Rio back in season 2 (leg 3).

No guide, no high flight.  The water was the difficult part. Neobie post a graph of water temps in that lake.......brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
