Chances are joab may see the teams coming as that shoot was for Phil intro..
You know Phil will said, Go to Bencoolen Centre and find this ice cream man, for the next clue stuff..
-
Joab, if u have trouble, i believe this maybe at the shophouses towards the temple.. You try to go Bencoolen if not go towards the Bugis Temple along the shophouses..
-
Just a gut feel, could someone check the G-Max reverse bungee? Maybe, just maybe that could be a roadblock...?

Guys, quiet please Joab needs our help right now. Everyone else stay off please unless you can help.
Wil, if you can give directions, do it.
He can't find them, there are a 100 ice cream sellers.
-
Joab, there is a building in the pic with a bright yellow band going horizontally.
Next to a building , concrete with square columns . Set back under and behind the columns are the stores. Well under an overhang.
-
Can someone get this address on GE and post it here please? He can't see the pic.
-
wow, how exciting, i hope we get some photos or info as to who's still in it. Anyone here know how much of a time difference is between when phil shoots the task intros and the teams show up? it's about 3:40pm there now don't they normaly start tasks early in the day?
Edit to add, sorry Peach I didn't see your posts and didn't know how to delete mine after it was sent.
-
Please leave this thread open for Joab right now.

-
Ok he can see the pic now. No luck so far, lots of ice cream sellers. And the flags may not be there if teams have already come or not yet come.
keep it up Wil, that is just what he needs.

Ask him ask the people there did they saw the icecream seller.. Haha.. :cmaslol :cmaslol

Would the numbers and letters in the right hand corner of the picture "FQ936" mean anything? That might be something to look for.
-
And cameras.
See the little license tag JoaB? Looks like FQ then 9236
Take your time...ask questions...people may remember seeing someone running with a camera.
-

As peach mention!! Correct that the license plate for the Ice Cream Seller which is actually a motor bike..

-
YAY Joab!! Go ask in the stores right there what they saw. Take pictures for us when you can.
-
asked around. Even the store in the photo. No one remembers of a filming taking place
-
I had already posted the exact location. The building's name is The Bencoolen 180.
just spotted this on twitter......
stephanietang Spotted AmaZing race crew at s'pore!! Bugis near temple. http://tweetphoto.com/6514943
Hope this helps! Wondering if other TAR versions use the same colors as the US version
The place shown in the picture is on Bencoolen Link at the corner with Waterloo St in downtown Singapore. Singapore (City/Country) is not far away from Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia.
Here is the street view:

TAR Latin America, which doesn't go to Asia, uses blue-black-blue flags.
-
They could be waiting nearby for teams, or it could be finished. In any case, people will have seen something. Ask for team descriptions.
Keep asking. Maybe the teams had to take the ice cream thing somewhere and sell some??
Keep looking!!!
-
Nearby ideas for a PITSTOP guys?? Joab's phone will die soon, so hurry.
He isn't seeing any signs of anything...
-
Is it they film the motage today and tml then actual??? Ideas peach??

Singapore River... I always had the thought of looking for the pit stop using the GMax Reverse Bungee or the SG Flyer... :cmaslol
ETA: Surely TAR don;t just pick random people to hand over clues, is there no way to contact the main company that sells the said ice cream?
-
No, when we had pics like this in Bangkok, teams were there a couple of hours later. The shot was filmed first. Teams could still be coming.
Suggest places for a Pitstop nearby??
-

Someone **coughwumingcough** said that the Botanical Gardens could be...? (assuming that TAR wants the pit stop safe and secret)

Marina Barrage maybe good since is far from the city and can be seen from Singapore Flyer, assumed teams go up Singapore Flyer to locate the flag..
-
Is there a possibility that the Raffles Hotel is visited as well? Just asking, I think it's close to the location, am i right?
-

Yup, Raffles Hotel, Singapore Flyer, Illuma, Bugis Juction, Suntec all are within walking distance..
National Library too..
-
Peach, i think maybe ask Joab to stay there and wait.. They may come soon..
-
I'm slanting to the idea that the picture was caught a day or two but posted just right now (it's very sunny when it is filmed, but with our s'porean friends telling that the weather in bugis is rainy today)... but anything could happen!
Will this map help for nearby pit stops?

He is staying for now...there is no ice cream man right now. Hopefully that was the Phil set up shot and teams are still to come.
But his phone is dying, :( but might be a good thing as I need to take up a collection anyway!
-
For a pit stop I'd go right away to the gardens at the Raffles Hotel.
-
Just told him that, lol! GMTA!!

So teams still in Saban?? If we get hold of teams arrival time in Singapore, we may know when they arrive..

U sure that the pitstop?? Maybe it be very far??
-
No but it would be a great place!
We don't think they were in Sabon at all Wil.
Okay..it is up to fate now!! Send some LUCK!!
-
He is on his way to Raffles and then willl check back...
Lordie, I could use a Singapore Sling about now!! :martini:

-
GOOD LUCK GUYS!!!!!! :cmas23 You are doing so well Joab, autowil, and peach!! Hope you get some more things! At least you're back on track! =D
I don't know S'pore as much as you other guys, so we're counting on you! :hearts:
-
Can have drink singporo sling do chech phil like markets

Singapore's Changi Airport should be a place to watch, as they may depart from there soon. Very likely they might have come into Singapore on Silk Air flight 391 Tuesday Noon or 395 Monday Eve from Kota Kinabalu. Raffles Hotel is within walking distance from the place the ice cream vendor was spotted.
-
We don't really know...but Kota Kinabalu seems unlikey, Penang seems good.
Airport in 12-24 hours would be good to watch. Likely an extended Pitstop??
This is probably the last or next to last leg before the finale. :ascared

today is the 18 - 19th day of the Racers going through the race. if they make irregular pit stops similar to the previous seasons, they could be in the 10th leg right now... hopefully they can pass one more leg someplace in Asia!
ETA, if they would be back on the 19th of December in the US, it would probably be the second to the last leg of the race.
-
i moved to the courtyard at raffles, the raffles hotel, the padang and even the singapore flyer and there's no tar in action. went back and the ice cream door didn't return. aww. tried my best. sorry just didn't have luck. will share photos when i return home.

Okay, i'm home and alive and this has been a crazy TAR adventure even though i didn't catch any TAR teams in action.
I am still very skeptical about TAR visiting Singapore, because this is very surreal and unbelievable and i can't believe that they can enter a country where TAR receives a quality amount of ratings but the leg still wasn't spoiled by any spoilers with photographic evidence. Where were all the TAR fans?!?!?
My TAR scooping >>
(http://i50.[banned image hosting site].com/2ez79df.png)
It took me around 30 minutes to cool and calm myself down and find the exact location, because i was brainlessly looking for cameraman and not the background shops. Then i decided to use my internet and with the help of the picture, find the exact location, but no ice cream man. Scooped around, asked a few shops and all of them were pretty sure they didn't know of any filming which took place. :groan:
Then i decided that there was no point staying around because it seems like TAR won't remove their stations. :groan: I thought that all teams might have completed that task and that's why it's gone. Peach suggested scooping around different prominent Singapore attractions -
The Courtyard at Raffles - No
Raffles Hotel - No
Padang - No
Esplanade - No
Singapore Flyer - No
After going through so many places, i believed the next location after the teams received the clue at Bugis would not be in town, but somewhere AWAY from town area (Not raffles place, city hall or marina bay) but neighbourhood areas like Jurong, Bukit Batok etc, etc. Wasn't there a spoiler 2 or 3 days ago about clueboxes being spotted in Singapore? I seriously thought it was a local camp race, now it's worth digging up again.
As for the picture, someone might have taken a picture of it days ago, and only uploading today.. as suggested by someone on this forum previously.
After which, it was already nearing night time and there was still no teams. Decided that if the shots was taken in the day, then the leg has to be completed in the day. No point hanging around anymore, unless Joab happens to be this unlucky man who just needs to miss his favourite TAR teams after 13 seasons.
And.. that's the end of my "spoiling", don't know how much it helps. :cmas23
:kisses
-
looking closer at this picture, there seems to be someone in tennis shoes standing in the front of the stand. Could it possible that this was being filmed as the racers approached? Just asking???
Also, it doesn't look like an ice cream stand - more like regular food - there's a silver tray sitting on the stand similar to that of hotel room service. May it was from a near by restaurant where the racers had to eat something to get their next clue. Maybe the person that was out there last night can look for a near by restaurant or take out place.....just suggesting! :)
-
(http://i49.[banned image hosting site].com/wrxufm.png)
It's an ice cream stand.
Typical Singapore scene in the neighbourhood. Sells authentically S'pore ice cream.. flavours include sweet corn, red bean, yam, coffee, strawberry, choco chip and even DURIAN!!! :cmaslol
AND FOR ONLY $1 SGD. Value for money and good for a sunny day! :mas25
-
If you look carefully, the ice cream poster on our spoiler pic and the ice cream poster on the pic i posted, the provider is actually the same. I think it's Magnolia ice cream. :cmaslol
(http://i47.[banned image hosting site].com/2u4psoh.jpg)
Similar ice cream logo with 2 pics above. Therefore, in conclusion.. it is definitely an ice cream stand. :cmaslol

TAR Latin America, which doesn't go to Asia, uses blue-black-blue flags.
Xarles,
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder on the question of how far Kota Kinabalu is from Singapore. I had used 3 distance calculators that say it is 130 air miles, but rough calculation on the map in my huge atlas shows it to be about 900. The official distance is 903 statue miles. That is not quite "not far away" since it would take over 2 hours for a flight to get there.
-
Apskip, as a Singaporean, and i hereby dare to say this statement for all my fellow Singaporeans, that Kota Kinabalu is really not far away from Singapore. It takes around 2 hours, but to travel from one country to another with just 2 hours of your time? If Kota Kinabalu is far away from Singapore, then the distance between USA and Singapore can be compared to that of the earth and the mars.
I think what Xarles was trying to say was just, that Malaysia, is just one border away from Singapore.. and since Kota Kinabalu is in Malaysia, it is indeed NOT far away.
:cmas20

Just a tad fact and lolerz... just for the love of TAR spoilers, we end up researching and debating about McDonalds and SG Ice Cream Sandwiches! :cmaslol :cmaslol :cmaslol

Wow some development! How exciting! :jam:
Joab, I would just revisit the shop keepers because the time day for the shot with cameras looks way different than the time of day of your shot. Maybe the workers were on different shifts. Go there when the sun is shinning on the face of the building.
But on a note of disappointment, :cmas13, I dare say that the cameraman does not look like our standard breed of TAR shooters. He's too small! That does not automatically disqualify this find. They could be using their lightweights for this kind of shot. I hope more sightings come to the surface.
-
Joab, you really did a great job. I realize that the crew filming could have been hours or a day ahead of the teams, but at least your work confirmed the exact location, making this one of the few confirmed spoilers there's been this time around. (I seriously doubt they'd be sending film crews on their own as decoys.)
This is an odd season where production and Phil have accounted for more spottings than the teams, once they left LAX.
-
You guys might have already said this, but you think that the crew filming that ice cream stand scene might be a crew that would only film that kind of thing? All teams have their own crew. So maybe there's a crew that goes to the locations of tasks before all of the teams do and shoot a scene like this prior to all of the teams showing up?
-
Okay, i'm really hoping someone goes to the airport soon... :groan:
-
Joab deserves a real TAR Detective status :jam: :jam: , good job! Great effort :yourock:

Great job Joab!
:cmas16

Nice work Joab! I'm impressed. :yess:
-
Nice Joab!
Joab with the TAR Detectives ranking = :colors :cmaslol
-
omg! i'm flattered, i'vei plan to visit the marina barrage and other places in singapore which was speculated to be visited and see if i can find any clues. best if i found an amazing race route marker flag like neobie did! and i really do not deserve this.. i've did literally no spoiling. -.-
-
offtopic, but if you are wondering why i'm typing like this, it's because i'm using my phone to surf the net and it's darn hard to type. i'm persistent to dig out all the singapore spoilers!
-
Great job Joab! Hope you get lucky!
I think TAR is too scared to go to the famous places, because they want few sightings!
:kisses
-
Great job, Joab! :cmas26

Thanks everyone, more scooping in Singapore this weekend when i'm available.
Can someone give me a quick recap on the spoiled places reported.
Or some possible/speculated places?
Thanks! I think i know a few, but i'm afriad i missed some.
-
hey joab, is that photo really from TAR16. If it is then singapore will be a confirmed location.
anyway some updates on the weather from Mon-Thurs (14th to 17th Dec) in Bugis area, since i am staying around that area
14th(Mon) - Sunny
15th(Tues) - Sunny
16th(Wed) - Showers and Thunder
17th(Thurs) - Showers
-
At 12pm on the day the picture was taken, 12pm at Bugis was sunny. It only started raining at around 2pm i think...
-
wait, was the race filmed yesterday or today

Evan, The picture was taken two days ago. According to the person that took the picture, it was 12:00pm Singapore time
-
And there is NO doubt about Singapore anymore...we have different reports of teams being seen all over town.
-
hmm, on a tuesday then, but it was sunny whole day, could it be slight drizzle

Great job. Caught up with the folder. You're a TAR Detective and just in time for the holidays! :cmas16 :cmas16

Could be. Vendors have to do the same sort of standups Phil does; after viewers see the task/location, there's usually a shot of a local handing over the clue. There might be a task, though; box ice cream (http://eatbma.blogspot.com/2005/09/ice-cream-off-streets-of-singapore.html) and the ice cream sandwich (http://bobarno.com/thiefhunters/2009/03/singapore-ice-cream/) (literally--ice cream between two pieces of bread) are well-known there.
-
So you'll be going there to talk with the employees this weekend? :flirt:
I went to the Singapore Flyer today to enquire about what happened on Wednesday morning. Nope, everyone was tight lipped and they gave the no idea, not sure reply to me. :groan:
Entire view of the Singapore Flyer from The Esplanade (not far away) taken with my camera phone (night time) -
(http://i49.[banned image hosting site].com/nb7mop.jpg)
And nope, no leftover clues, flags or anything. :meow:
-
Possible locations for TAR related tasks in Singapore? (All pictures taken on the Esplanade Rooftop to show you guys how close exactly these locations are to each other) Sorry it was taken at night....
(http://i46.[banned image hosting site].com/2yn3zib.jpg)
Top of Esplanade Roof top, good for TAR pitstop. Usually very isolated on a weekday morning.
(http://i48.[banned image hosting site].com/wjgyaf.jpg)
Another view of Esplanade Roof top
(http://i46.[banned image hosting site].com/15n25ty.jpg)
Interior of the Esplanade.
NOTE: The Esplanade is considered as an arts theatre and if there should be a task placed there, i think the theatres, auditoriums, halls there will be used and it will be musically related. The Esplanade also has many wine bars and there could be some task related as well.. but don't think it is highly likely.
(http://i46.[banned image hosting site].com/30aqtr9.jpg)
One Fullerton Hotel and the Merlion (very small, at the bottom of the picture). Somehow, i believe that finding the Merlion could be a Route Marker. Just my gut feeling. Imagine, they have to take the Singapore Flyer and spot their next cluebox at the Merlion? (Just across the river) But will very likely be spotted by people if they had such a task? No?

Our integrated resort still in construction. Does it reminds you of a TAR 16 Dubai-tallest building in the world task? No idea how a task could be held there, but highly unlikely.
And since teams were only spotted in Bugis and the Singapore Flyer which wouldn't go quiet without anyone noticing and no other sightings were spotted in Singapore.. it is highly likely that they visited some neighbourhood and less populated places to do some tasks like i've stated before.
Not the Botanical Gardens or Zoological Garden because they have went there before already. Not Chinatown because teams definitely would have been spotted. Maybe Little India or Clark Quay could be good locations for tasks held as well because they are all very near each other.
Maybe like cleaning a car at a Caltex Station in Singapore. :cmaslol :groan: :mas25

well... if locations are what you're looking for, this place on Clark Quay would make a fine pitstop. :cmaslol

A pit stop at Hooters. I like that idea. Or they could have another beer serving Roadblock. :cmas5
