There is a HUGE speculation going on that Jeff Schroeder and Jordan Lloyd of Big Brother 11 is doing TAR16.
Here is a list of information that has been gathered pointing out why it's being speculated they are doing the race.
1) When the J's were in LA back in October to attend the Fox Reality awards and were in town for almost a week, they were spotted at CBS studios one day and nobody knows why they were there.
2) In one of Jeff's interviews (I don't remember which one) that he did not too long ago, and I don't remember how it was worded but he said something like that he and Jordan had something big to do soon and would be busy for a month. And another time he said something like that he and Jordan will be on a "long vacation" soon.
3) Jeff went down to Charlotte, NC on Tuesday the 17th to visit Jordan and to celebrate her 23rd birthday. They attended the Panthers game that Friday. Jeff''s last tweet was Sunday, the 22nd after the Bears game.
4) Jeff and Jordan has been MIA since Monday. Some fans actually do interact on twitter with the J's closest friends and since Monday, fans have not been able to get any RESPONSES from anybody.
I am keeping my eye on them to see if they pop back out or stay missing. I will follow up with any new evidence, one way or another.

That timing could def be working, and they were hugely popular on BB, so I can see CBS going that way.
But even though I too liked J/J, I HATE the idea of any reruns from other reality TV. We all know how the last BB contestent did.
I want fresh, ordinary, REAL people doing extraordinary things, NOT someone who already won a million dolars, like them or not.

When CBS imposed Allison onto TAR 5, it was thought her presence would help TAR improve its ratings. Not sure she contributed to the resurgence at that time (as TAR 4, 5, and 6 aired with very little downtime between these editions).
I can't see how casting Jeff and Jordan would benefit TAR. And I liked Jeff a lot last summer and Jordan didn't bother me. And I'll concede that these two seem to have a real relationship -- something that even the Bachelor/ettes rarely do.
But the Twitter activity certainly seems consistent with what happened with Maria and Tiffiany last time.

Another possible clue---I read on a couple BB boards that Jeff and Jordan were spotted last week in Charlotte with a film crew; both were wearing similar (possibly matching) blue shirts. There was also an unmarked van without a network logo. This could possibly be filming for intro shots or promotional material. Then again, it could be for something else entirely.

Due to how epic TAR5 was, it's pretty sad that just last week I recalled that Alison was part of the AR5 family. Or is it?
As for Jordan and Jeff? I guess if they go far (as in F3 or at least to the penultimate episode) it could help. A lot of people elsewhere weren't too fond of the past several seasons in terms of the cast. I didn't mind, but a lot of people weren't pleased. I don't see why, since some of them preferred seeing newer people as opposed to returning racers or people from other reality shows. Maybe since they're known it could add something, but IMO, there nowhere near as huge as Rob and Amber were. With Rob and Amber, they had just finished their second shot at $1 Million on an All-Stars edition, which helped make TAR7 somewhat decent in my eye.
Either way, this is okay. Don't think it a moral imperative that they race, but I'm okay with it.

Well maybe the race begins tomorrow and we can shed some light. I hope it starts tomorrow, in fact I beg it starts tomorrow but know that I have said this it probably won't. I for one wouldn't mind Jeff and Jordan though I loathe Reality TV Stars on other shows (mostly due to that monster Alison)

More proof - earlier this month when asked in an interview, Jeff ONLY mentioned being in SC for Jordan's birthday and Jordan coming to Chicago for NYE. At that time there was NO mention of J/J plans between 11/21 (Jordan's birthday) and NYE (ie, Thanksgiving and Christmas and all the days in between). Their respective family and friends have also been very quiet about J/J's plans and whereabouts. And no one knows where J/J spent Thanksgiving - no Twitter, no pics, no nothing.

Sure, woudl be nice for Jordan to be the first person to win TAR and BB, but that's a long way off and a long shot, but noone thought she'd win BB either.

Oh they're a true couple, lol, not a showmance.
I just hope they have fun on this, they've said they'll take any experiences they can get from this and do not seem pretentious at all. Of course I'd love for them to make it to the end and I really dont' want them to go out early, but above all else I want them to enjoy it.

I'm glad she found out! I was just saying I thought it was a bit extreme is all. But I am surprised that someone could find out, even with a family member working for the airline, so easily what flight someone's on, including the seat?

They look to say "18" to me, not SB. Plus if you compare them side by side, the other boys' shorts definitely are navy blue, not royal blue.

I don't think they're anything special (i.e. relating to a specific team). They look like a generic Old Navy/American Eagle/Abercrombie type athletic short.
Plus there are soooooo many teams in the country that are royal blue/yellow, and the only sport that would have those type of shorts would be basketball players. And um, they don't really look like basketball players to me :)

The cast looks very promising at first glance. I like that there are young male teams (the cowboys looks hot :-[), I like the fact that theres a female gay team (If they are lesbians) and a Grandmother/Grandaughter team seems a pretty cool idea.

I am one of the BB11 fans and Jeff and Jordan are the most entertaining couple in Reality TV in years. In addition to winning everything on BB11 ($525,000 between them), they were named the Reality TV Couple of the Year recently. In case you don't know them, go on YOUTUBE and look at their videos and tributes. They are really a couple in a serious relationship. Some people say they are dumb, especially Jordan. Believe me, they are not. Maybe unsophisticated and naive, but not dumb. I think you will enjoy them and their give and take, and if they let them be themselves, they will go a long way. I know it's a charachture, but it gives us a good idea what the woman looks like. The hair matches.

I saw that they were missing the National Finals Rodeo which is basically the Super Bowl of Rodeo and thought it a bit odd, but I didn't think they had been a top team from what little I saw in my searching (I can barely find any references to Bobby Boyd). Anyway, wikipedia says that only the Top 15 teams on the money winning list go to the National Finals Rodeo. The list I found from a few weeks ago has Tim Abbott as the 16th and Bobby Boyd 17th in points so neither would qualify for the finals. In money winnings, neither was in the top 20.
Sheesh, I live in a big rodeo town (Pendleton OR), but having no interest in rodeo, I don't have any contacts I could ask about them. Maybe I'll think of someone. :groan:

And scratch the past tense, I'm not sure still. It could be the competition February 17-18, 2010. But the site said her 'Racer Type' is 'Sprinter', so TAR could be practice for her to win the M3 Competition (IF she is that person). :duno:

Discussed upstream...I think it is more of a royal blue, and that it could be UCSB, but not sure anyone else thought that worked. :lol:

I'm not sure that is a match. In the pit Stop photo, the backbacks on the ground have what appears to be a blue sleeping pad. But I don't see that on their backpacks in the airport photo. Plus, the older person looks female to me. I'm thinking it could be the grandmother/granddaughter, or even the lesbian ladies. But do we have actual evidence that this is the team eliminated on this leg? Couldn't it have been any team checking in?
EDIT: Yes, I would say the younger girl on the mat is the one in kittygoesmeow's airport picture.

I went to the website where the pictures from Puerto Varas came from and looked through the directory they came from, http://www.cronicalibre.cl/images/stories/thumbs/ (http://www.cronicalibre.cl/images/stories/thumbs/). It's basically a few thousand thumbnail news photos from all of 2009. I spent the time to look at each photo from December 2009 (the last 3 days) just in case they had any others involving TAR 16 hidden there. It's probably post-elimination, where, if he's smiling, it's part of the post-boot discussion. In other words, those two, which saddened that their race is over, are happy that they got to be on the show. Add that to the two talking about how they love each other or something special outside TAR, and that would probably cause Phil to smile.

If you look at the regular size picture in the destination thread - Phil isn't smiling at all.....looks like he's listening, pondering, questioning, or confused....that Phil look! LOL Also, are we sure that is an all female team (granny and granddaughter?) Perhaps that is the father daughter team and the granny / granddaughter team are still in! That just looks like a man to me.....at the ticket counter and at the pit stop.

I agree. I don't think we can assume they are eliminated unless we never see them again. But even then, they could always pull a Kisha & Jen, right?

Let me see if I've got this correct. So far you feel they've done about 3 or 4 eliminations, not sure if the GM/GD team has been eliminated.

How do you guys find out the contestant's names? I know one of the teams - and from what I understand - they aren't supposed to talk to anybody?
No, not they're not Gonnawatch, I think its only some family and even then they have to sign a confidentiality agreement as well. If you want to tell me in private I'm all ears :D

Did you sign anything saying you were not allowed to talk about it? If not and you know your friends by viewing pictures on here or know because you have been told feel free to say who they are. They are in public now and it is information that does not have to remain secret. I think it is the racers themselves that have to be silent not family or friends.

A couple of Jeff's Friends have already confirmed he's on TAR, but only after the photos came out and every online newsource broke the story. So I'm doubtful that AMAZINGRACEFAN21 is talking about them, since they were the first to be widly confirmed and they said the racers they know were probably not ID'd yet.

I'm with puddin on this one. I think contestants sign a big fat nondisclosure, and if they do tell any family or friends then those family and friends are supposed to sign a similar big fat nondisclosure (I think). So technically, if you know that your friends are on, you probably should have signed the contract. Worst case scenario -- you spill the beans, it gets traced to you, your friends are on the hot seat, then they have to pay up the big bucks. I think those nondisclosure agreements are for a ridiculous sum of money (in the millions? maybe a former TAR contestant can chime in here?), and if for any reason your friend had to pay up, I'm sure you'd feel awful. Better to be safe than sorry!

Really, I think they gave up after being exposed in TAR 11. Hence why the editing of the show has turned from travelogue to a more frenetic race to attract viewers.
Why do you think they reveal the route before the season nowadays?

It isn't even that entirely.
It is that RFF loves the race first and foremost. And even though we are a spoiler board, we feel a great responsibility to ensure that the finale occurs unmolested. As a spoiler board, we sometimes DO have info that we feel should NOT be shared ahead of time. The Portland finale site was an example of this. We knew the exact MAT location ahead of time and chose NOT to reveal that info until AFTER the finale had safely been filmed, so that the race could finish in safety, and out of respect to the show.
And yes, RFF has known all week that San Fran was the Finale City, but chose, just as we did in Portland, to not reveal that info before the finale had safely been filmed.
But now, thanks to production's own carelessness, the cat is out of the bag.
I just hope that SF doesn't turn into the zoo Portland did.

I saw this posted on AABB. It was from the same source HAPPY4LIFE that reported Jeff and Jordan and Catlin and Brent were on the flight from Miami to Chile together. Tonight they posted that Michael Naylor and Louis Stravato were on that flight as well. They know someone that has validated this flight information.

I agree, San Francisco airport was a bad choice. I haven't checked into it, but I'm fairly confident that there are flights from Mexico into Oakland and San Jose and those airports are smaller and less busy. There's still a good chance that J/J would have been recognized, but it would have been by fewer people and perhaps the picture taking could have been discouraged more effectively. Also, perhaps J/J could have taken a separate flight and that would have made it unlikely that we would have spotted rhe other eliminated teams.

I don't think they are ever going to separate all the eliminated teams from ES. What they should have done was put ALL the eliminated teams on an obscure flight and hidden them ALL as best as possible. But I agree, they aren't trying anymore.

Plaidmoon2, Of course there are direct or connecting flights from PVR to OAK or SJC. However, the only nonstop flights involving PVR to those 3 destinations go from PVR to SFO (see my recent post on this subject in the Tweets thread for details). There is a one-stop 3 hour 42 minute flight (+ 2 hours time zone differential), US621 PVR OAK 0811 1153, but the use of nonstop flights instead is a protection against being sighted in route.

The point here is that taking a direct flight to Oakland International Airport (used both in AR2 and AR11) from Puerto Vallarta does not make as much sense as the nonstop one to San Francisco, which is where teams were actually spotted. There is the possibility that teams came into SFO and then went to OAK to fly somewhere else, but that is infinitesimally low in probability.

If the Asian females are Vietnamese American, then they're less likely to have slanted eyes unless they were of Chinese ancestry (there are some Vietnamese Americans who are of Chinese ancestry -- I was friendly with three of them who were being fostered by an old family friend of mine).

More importantly, they were responsible for some of the best known and cherished one-liners in TAR history -- starting with the very first episode, such as "That's Namibia, jackass!" They are also the original "Fraternity Brothers"/Best Friends team, long before Eric/Jeremy (who were call the Frat team in season 9 although they weren't) or more recently, Dan/Andrew.
For a number of seasons thereafter, TPTB tried to cast teams that might have the same sort of humor, and failed.

Let me be the first to congratulate Brent & Caitlin on being the 16th winners of TAR! Well, the first outside of those that were there.
Okay, that's my one-word prediction of the winner. I totally agree michael that it was a Finish Line proposal. No one can call the race based on that. Could be one of those, "We didn't win the million, but we walked out with something a lot more special than the big money." They may have won, but the previous was just a random guess at best.
Either way, congrats to them. Hope it works out! Though it looks like they finished the race based on the other stuff so WTG on that task!

I'm really surprised at how the casting team keeps finding new kinds of gay teams. (If I remember correctly Ken & Gerard in TAR3 were the straight brother & gay brother team, but at least Dan & Jordan are Jewish). I really believe that in a few seasons we'll have gone through every permutation. :lol:

They were on the All-Stars as well as Season 1, but in All-Stars, did rather badly.
In AllStars, Drew fell off that curb in the dark in Quito and suffered a back injury. Then the episode of altitude sickness at the hacienda outside of Quito. By the time he got to the pit stop in Chile, he was just fed up with his physical condition.

Drew also had a few injuries over time, prior to his run on All-Stars (including one unfortunate one in the courtroom). Sucks to have seen him like that; some people wonder why he decided to run the race again. I cannot blame them, as it's not easy to get another chance, let alone one shot, at competing on TAR (or any show). Gotta take it while you can. At least they didn't finish 4th again; I think Drew would've become a tragic figure had that happened. Of course, glad they weren't first out either, though they came close.
As for the AR 16 contestants, nice to see almost half of them confirmed! I think we can get IDs on all of them prior to the CBS release. Always fun. I remember TAR9 and how I thought the hippies were a couple, with BJ and some tall blonde. Turned out to just be Tyler.

Here's Steve Smith's minor league statistics (both playing and managing). He never quite made it to the major leagues as a player, although he has been a major league coach for several years for at least a couple of teams.

Steven John Smith is the third base coach for the Cleveland Indians. He was formerly the third base coach for the Philadelphia Phillies. He was also the third base coach of the Seattle Mariners from 1998 to 1999 and of the Texas Rangers from 2002 to 2006. Smith has a career managerial record in the minor leagues of 779-903. He was let go from the Phillies organization on November 4, 2008.
The uniform that Allison is wearing clearly establishes that this Steve Smith (and not the one at Baylor who was also never a MLB player but was a highly ranked minor leaguer for a while) is the correct one.

I think we really need to avoid to "frat" label. It leads to all sorts of confusion, especially as the Race has cast two different teams that had a relationship of being fraternity brothers in college.
"Frats" is being used for teams some perceived as looking like a stereotype, and this has been done on more than one team in more than one other season in addition to the two Races where the label was factually accurate and appropriate. FWIW, "preppy" is just an accurate a label as to a stereotype appearance but without the TAR baggage.
The younger set of brothers this season -- we know that one of them is in a fraternity at Georgia Tech, but we don't know that is the case with the other brother.

Here are the four teams that was on the United flight from Shanghai to San Francisco. The team that was more open and discuss about their advanture were Louis and Mike. The other 3 teams were really quiet and did not say much or had much interaction with other passengers on the flight. When the flight was approaching San Francisco, the lead team and their entourage were allowed to move to the front of the plane so they can exit immediately ahead of the other passengers and the other TAR teams. By the time i got to the custom area due to the large numbers of other passengers - the lead team was already gone through custom. They had approximately 25mins to 30mins lead ahead of the other teams. Since Louis and Mike have been referred to as the decoy (they were not filmed on the plane while the others were)... then i think i know who are the final 3 teams. I am not sure I am allowed to list their names here. Moderator - please advise.

I don't see why you couldn't release it. We have had the Final 3 known beforehand in several of the past seasons, so you should be fine. :tup:

It sounds like Daniel and Jordan had a 30min lead and got lucky to go through customs so fast. The other teams had no way of catching up because there was a slow down there. So I wonder why there was no reported sightings of Daniel and Jordan , but there was of Catlin/Brent and the cowboys?

They had a 30-minute lead going into customs? How does that work if they are on the same plane?
The way turtlerun describes it makes it sound like the producers let them go ahead at the expense of the other two.

Probably because they were first and running alone. One team running around a place won't lead to too much suspicion, however if two teams and seen close to each other, then they are sure to raise suspicion.
And about the customers problem, there was another flight, ANA Airline flight NH8 arriving from Tokyo 2 minutes after the arrivial of the Shanghai flight. Depending on the proximity of the gates to customers and the seats on the plane, the second and thrid teams could have been caught up by people coming off that flight. And in response to Hooky, Flight Attendants can allow passengers to go on to the front of the plane beforehand and I don't believe it's illegal. I actually did it once but that was because I was an uncompanied minor.

I didn't mean to say it was "illegal," I just meant "unfair." The Amazing Race is not supposed to be rigged (although I bet it is in some way every season).

I find it hard to believe that the producers would have allowed customs processing alone to control the outcome of the Race.
Wouldn't TPTB have held teams at the airport until the teams and camera crews had cleared? This is the major reason why, usually, the Race has gone somewhere else first so teams could be clear of customs processing when they arrive at the final city.

I don't think so?? The only times I have heard of everyone being held up is when there is a problem with some of the camera equiptment being held up, otherwise it is just another leveler, like bad taxis. Some teams work the lines better than others.

Sorry about the confusion... there were more than 2 flights coming into SFO around the same time. United airline use the same terminal in SFO. Flights from Asia all come in around the same time (between 8:30 and 9:30am). Toyko, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing... etc. The lead team was allowed to move into Biz Class before the landing into SFO and was allowed to deplane first. Not sure if this was pre-arranged while the rest of the team was in the back of the plane in economy. The first team got lucky and made their way to custom ahead of everyone. By the time we got off the plane, there were people everywhere coming off from other arriving flights so there was a custom overload and lines begin to form. I think it might be just luck.

I'm one of those who watch for more than just the teams. When I don't have a favorite team (to like), I often have a team or two that I think will make final three to watch. And in the case when those teams are also out, then I watch for the locales and tasks, and how the remaining teams handle them. In other words, there's always a reason to watch whether one's personal favorite(s) remain or not.

What theschnauzers said. After nearly nine years on CBS, it's never been just about the teams. Otherwise, that family edition one would have not been one of the least popular seasons in AR history. It comes down to scenery, interaction, and traditional practice (to name a few). That's been lacking somewhat over the past 3 years, and why I've put some of the most recent seasons well below the early seasons. The interaction between the teams during down time was great, sucks that they took that away.
With the teams, I've dealt with the favorites going out right at the last point someone could go out almost every season very early on. But I couldn't quit something I started, after all that time. Besides, I may not like a team, so I'd be rooting for the other teams. That, and the team that's been the most competitive to see if they could be the job done.
With this season, while I'd love to see Jet/Cord win, I would also like to see Brent/Caite take it all (even if I'm actually rooting against them in the end). It could be well-deserved if they can beat a F3 that includes the Cowboys and the brothers. Sucks about the decoys; that would have been nice if they had made it also.

Casting may affect the ratings, but I base my opinion on the locales visited and the general route (distance) the race travels. What's far more important about TAR is about how it reveals the culture of foreign places that most Americans will never have the opportunities to visit in their lives. Furthermore, TARfans can generally agree on the quality of tasks and the route...the cast, not so much.

I'm another who thinks that teams are really important. And I must say, the final three teams don't seem very appealing. =( I don't exactly like Brent and Caite too much on first impressions, Jet and Cord and the brothers are fine, but it's just so boring that the all-male teams are totally dominating this season. 3 out of 4 teams in the final 4 are all-male teams! TAR 4, anyone? Right now, I'm hoping that the winners will be either Jet and Cord or Dan and Jordan. But who knows, maybe Brent and Caite might impress me along the way or something. Oh, and Dan and Jordan having a 30-minute lead doesn't bode well does it. Don't we all know that the initial leading team never wins in the end. Hmm.

I like the unpredictable nature of the competition the most, with the cast as a close second. When my favorite teams are gone, my enjoyment plummets, regardless of the route (Season 13 finale, Season 14 Ep 5 onward). If you could put TAR 9's outcome (without the predictability) in TAR 14's race course it would be amazing, by far the best season ever (my opinion). For me, TAR 14 was amazing in the first half (despite the lousy editing) because my favorites were there and the locations were some of the best ever, and it was poor in the second half because all my favorites were gone and only the irritating, overrated teams were left. There was nothing really wrong with the tasks (in fact they may have been better than the first half's tasks), it was just that the teams left were annoying by that point.
This season I think we will have the opposite problem from TAR 14: All the strong teams at the end without balance on the weak team's side. Ultimately this will annoy me because it is too predictable. But then again, TAR 14 was predictable because they made it obvious who the "important" teams were, so in actuality it probably hasn't been unpredictable for me since TAR 12. :lol:

I'm pretty sure my main favorites, Carol & Brandy, go out in sixth in whatever country precedes Malaysia, and my second favorites, Steve & Allie, get Speed Bumped in Malaysia and fail to overcome it in Singapore. At which point I'm gone.

Having read the spoilers of the F4 I can only hope they make for good entertainment, probably most "anti-male pro-female" fans will dislike this outcome, but I won't discriminate based just on appearances. Maybe miss "the Irak" will redeem herself, they'll probably pull an Eric & Danielle. I hope this season brings at least some surprises.
On a side note: how many Dan's have reached the F3 so far? :lol:
