was at the park where they also have temple in phnom penh, cambodia yesterday and saw amazing race: asia being filmed
* managed to get photos of three teams from amazing race: asia. was only few steps away from ém!10:40 PM Jul 25th

jeni_mama shares her story and photos here (http://forum.realityfanforum.com/index.php/topic,18840.msg439723.html#msg439723)!

This was taken on July 25, around 3pm to 3:30pm.

So, after running the errands on that day, we decided to go to wat phnom. As we parked and we were about to enter the front entrance, but we were told to go to next entrance to the park because they were filming something. That was when I first took picture of that cameramen waiting for teams to arrive. At first, I thought that maybe they were filming one of Cambodian movies because the Cambodian cops said they didn't know what it was for but all they knew was that they had to block it off from public, and there were limited areas where we could go.Then my mom told me that she thinks that it is for Amazing Race (she follows Amazing Race as well). So we went to the next entrance which was not even a minute walk away from the front entrance, to find the monkeys. But it was odd, because we couldn't find a single monkey there, and my relatives said they were surprised because they always see monkeys there every day (they live in Phnom Penh, Cambodia and I'm Cambodian-American myself as well), so we suspected that the city probably moved those monkeys for the filming. All of the sudden, someone tapped on my shoulder and told me to look at two Caucasian men wearing red, with black backpacks and that was when I realized that they were filming Amazing Race show. The cameramen that rode with them in Cambodia's "taxi" stayed to pay the taxi driver while the team ran off, since the other cameramen were already there waiting to film them. After paying taxi driver, those cameramen went to catch up with their team. I ran to take pictures of them but they were already on the stairs to the temple. So I waited nearby where I was allowed (I couldn't get any closer because they don't want people to interfere with the competition, which is understandable). I think maybe about 10-15 minutes later, I saw another taxi passed the front entrance, and they stopped at the same entrance where I entered, and I think they realized that they stopped at the wrong entrance, because they did not enter that entrance, and instead, they ran to the front entrance and entered there. I had to zoom in and take pictures of the 2nd team I saw when they stopped at wrong entrance. They were black men wearing blue jerseys with "Harlem" on the back. As soon as they entered the front entrance, they put on some type of masks (I think it was African masks but I'm not too sure), and started running. Their cameramen later caught up with them. I waited a little longer while for another team. I saw the 3rd team stopped at front entrance. One was Caucasian man, and one black woman. Both were wearing yellow. I took a quite several photos of them, and their cameramen as well. I stayed and waited for another team to arrive but then I couldn't stay any longer because I already had the day planned out. That was my The Amazing Race encounter.

i'm sorry to tell you but you're the last team to arrive
THE AMAZING RACE!!!
I love the show! Despite the reality tv tag, it beats a hell of a lot of tv programming on the air right now. I've always wanted to be a part of the show. And today, I possibly could be! No, I did not get on as a contestant. That would be great if I did but alas, not the case. What happened was, I potentially can be seen in the background. LOL. I know, nothing much to shout about but it is my fave reality competition.

They were filming in the market I was shopping at and one pair's camera guy actually stopped and took a 5 second shot of me, winked and ran off after the couple he was attached to. I was filmed by a crew of "The Amazing Race"!! Also, I passed by multiple pairs and their camera and sound guy so hopefully I will appear in one or another shot. Yea. My claim to fame will be a background, blink-and-you'll-miss-it part in "The Amazing Race"!

All in all, I bumped into 5 pairs. The first was a male-male partnership, second was a couple who looked really miserable, third was another couple wearing matching dark blue tees and the guy was wearing a bandanna - rambo-style (this is when I got filmed), fourth was another male-male pair I think - one of em had a combo of neon green with some pink hair and lastly was a girl-girl pair - an asian chick with a white girl. The only definite film capture that I know of is when I bumped into the third pair. And that's even if he wasn't just pointing the cam in my face and pretending to take a shot

If it was my 5 seconds of fame shot then of course, it's all dependant on the editing guys so crossing my fingers that I don't end up on the cutting room floor. I hope to see myself on "The Amazing Race". I wish I could meet Phil though. Have a run towards the mat and do the whole jump and get checked in routine. That would be super great if that happened! I'm so dorky but what else can I say.

update  (http://forum.realityfanforum.com/index.php/topic,18840.msg461199.html#msg461199)

**It was on a Saturday, July 25. You guessed right, I was at the Russian Market in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. It was in the afternoon at about 2:30 p.m. I didn't manage to get any photos because it was a complete and total suprise and I wasn't carrying my camera or my phone with me. If you do send me the pictures, I can possibly identify the pairings I saw. I am interested to know more about the "miserable"-looking couple I saw. To be fair, the market is hot, confusing and full of people and I can understand if they felt overwhelmed by everything. A number of pairs went around and around the market quite a few times. The first one out of the market was the first male-male pair I saw.

*** Also, about the Independance Monument being the next point after Russian Market, there's no way any team in their right mind would walk all the way there from Russian Market. It's too far, you'd waste a lot of time. And I saw some team, I can't recall which, take the tuk-tuk (motorcycles attached with a carriage-like cab) after coming out of the market.

*** reply after viewing the team photos:

Hi again!

Ok, had a look at the teams and well, they are pretty cleaned up in the pictures () but the one's I can definitely identify are:
Cannan Smith and Mika Combs (Rambo guy)
Maria Ho and Tiffany Michelle
Gary and Matt Tomljenovich
Meghan Rickey and Cheyne Whitney (miserable couple)
The ones I'm iffy about are the male-male pair. I'm pretty sure one of the guys wasn't that tall. I'm 5'4" and he didn't look that much taller than me when he passed by. Either that or I actually saw a girl and thought it was a guy for some reason.

I'm not sure if they were there for a detour or a road block as the market is big and the teams I saw did have to go round and round a number of times. It might have been they had to find a stall and get their next clue from there. It could be the shop was selling either motorcycle parts or household items or from the wet market as I had canvassed (albeit not diligently) the other half of the market and found no red and yellow flag in the handicraft, fabric and clothing section. This is also because I saw most of the pairs going through the half of the market I was in looking dejected and irritated and then gravitate towards the spare parts, household items and wet market area. There are a few goldsmiths on that side as well. There's also a well hidden, I wanna say apothecary type place, but I don't particularly know what goes on behind those doors so can't say for sure if that could be a possible TAR thing. I can say with some degree of certainty that it wasn't an eating challenge because at the point I saw the father-son pair and poker girls, I was sitting in the food arcade area (and I use the term loosely) and was having drinks when they went through. Didn't seem to see any flags there either.

The first team I saw was the male-male pair (which I'm suspect now since I can''t recall them from any of the pics) and they were also the first team to leave. The second team I saw leave was the blue t-shirt team and the last pair in the market as I left was the asian girl-caucasian girl pair. I can't tell if the other pairs I had seen had left at that point but the girls were the straggling TAR team. They were at most one hour behind the first pair. But I'm guessing from the pics on the forum the poker girls managed to get on to the next leg.

So, I will continue to stand in awe of Him and follow Him where He leads.

Lastly, we went to Wat Phnom which, to be honest the meaning got lost in the excitement of seeing one of the last legs of the Amazing Race!!  A section was blocked off and our Cambodian friend who was showing us around the city asked what was going on.  Through some investigation we found out that the contestants from the Amazing Race were to meet the host at the top of the mountain of Wat Phnom.  We went up and got a look at the host and the first team that arrived.  On our way out we saw the next 2 teams arrive and were able to get some pictures and video.  Of all the days and places, eh?  It was crazy and random!

We spent much the of the afternoon walking around the city. We visited the King's Royal Palace which was spectacular. While waiting in line to enter, a bunch of Americans and video cameras ran through the crowd towards the palace. While everyone was baffled, I had to explain that they were filming an episode of the American tv program the Amazing Race. While Susan and I were getting tickets, one of the teams cut us to request their money back (they were apparently at the wrong place).

So I wonder who the first team to arrive was?  They said they got pictures of a couple teams on their way down, which I would assume was the trotters and who?   :duno:  They were so descriptive in the previous blogs but vague in the last one.   :(

PS love the Sean Penn!

I'm thinking that this is Justin, I know we were speculating whether this was the red team or not. Just going by the large white stripe on Justins shorts (screenshot from EP3)..

I don't think Kisha/Jen lost their passports. It more of a left them behind but Amanda and Kris did lose theirs at the D in Romania.

I think the passport-losing thing is going to come up every season from now on just to try and make us think that will happen again. It won't. Whoever loses their passports will find them again. They're just trying to make us watch it.

You can see circus performers in the background. This site (http://amritaperformingarts.org/default.htm) states that both circus and traditional stuff are handled through the Royal University of Fine Arts, but that they're having trouble finding housing.

I think that building behind Zev is Wat Botum.

Wat Botum:

Now since the windows behind Nate and Herb are dark at the Airport, we can assume that they arrive here in the morning which makes Wat Botum South West of the location.

It looks like Ericka, Dan (still having trouble distinguishing those two), and Canaan are roadblockers also.

And it's redundant, especially with the picture of FTBE found earlier, but the leg looks like: Fly to Sean Penn ; Detour, RB, Pit Stop. Maybe an extra task thrown in, but I doubt it; even if it were, passport drama might take center stage.

Zen & Justins confessional looks like its outside? if so why so dark? Sunsets at 6:30 or so.. according to jenimama's sighting it was 3pm ish

Quote
This was taken on July 25, around 3pm to 3:30pm.

So, after running the errands on that day, we decided to go to wat phnom.  All of the sudden, someone tapped on my shoulder and told me to look at two Caucasian men wearing red, with black backpacks and that was when I realized that they were filming Amazing Race show

*While searching for royalty in Cambodia, teams confuse a first lady for a queen
**a mimicking monkey stops one team dead in their tracks

I'll put this here, again still no video evidence

There's been a bit of talk on here as to where in Cambodia the pit stop is.  I stumbled across filming of the race while in Phnom Penh, and hung out at the pit stop for 3 hours, watching all of the action.  The pit stop is at Wat Phnom, which is the founding place of Phnom Penh.  Sorry, no pictures to back this up, as it was a 'locked site'.  We were told to put our equipment away or it'd be confiscated.

Glad I could help!!  :)  Not exactly sure on the order, but I'm pretty sure the globetrotters were one of the first few to check in as they were one of the first to leave the pit stop in the vans.  When I arrived at Wat Phnom it was July 25th at approximately 2:00pm.  Most teams managed to check in, but we did see one team racing to the top.  Got it on video but it's not clear as to which team it was.  I've got some other video of teams that have already checked in.

I am transferring some information about the most logical flight from HoChiMinh City to Phnom Penh: VN670 0730 0820 SGN PNH.

Teams began leg 3 between 545am and 629am on the boat, then had a 2 hour taxi ride to HCMC, then the water puppets, then transportation to the post office, then transportation to their DETOUR of choice, the DETOUR itself, then transportation to ROADBLOCK, the ROADBLOCK itself and transportation to the pit stop. They should reach the pit stop between 10am and noon. Add 12 hours for a standard pit stop and you have teams getting to the HoChiMinh City airport around midnight. They will have a long wait until the first flight at 0730, typical of Amazing Race legs when bunching is paramount.

Apskip, I can't find that VN 670 flight in the database.  Is it real?   :duno:

Here is the flight that I think they took:

VN 817 leaving HCMC at 12:25 pm and arriving in Phnom Penh at 1:15 pm.

1.Isn't the guy in the white shirt in the back the person who asked Tiffany if they were poka players in Tokyo? Or is he a Amazing Race detective too, but can acually afford to follow them around?

2.Lance and Keri are going to get on a late flight for one of these three reasons:
1.Late release time at pitstart
2.Thier frustrated to cause them unable to negociate nicely with the counter lady(look at their glare)
3.A switch up causes teams to catch up and Keri and Lance fell behind again(Reason for num2)(And the reason why Zev is in the picture)

It looked like they were trying to find tickets to the next destination, they did even borrow a computer from a check-in disk for International flights.

And yet we have teams running through Bangkok at 5pm, suggesting:
PG 934 to Bangkok, 1530-1640; TG 517 to Dubai, 1800-2130 (thanks Peach and folks on the Flights thread!)

There are 0940, 1005 and 1140 flights between Phnom Penh and Bangkok. I don't think teams will finish in Phnom Penh after 11pm to miss that third flight and risk a tighter connection, so I believe TPTB extended the Pit Stop?

A little more evidence: Phil needs to leave on the 8pm Phnom Penh-Bangkok flight on the 25th, or he'd be stuck in Phnom Penh together with the teams. All check-in's have to be done before that. A 12h Pit Stop with all check-in's before 8pm means teams would be taking the 9.40am flight to Bangkok the next morning, not the 3.30pm.

New modus operandi is to extend almost all Pit Stops as necessary to give Phil breathing room. The later departure times here, though, could have been to force teams onto different flights (see Flights thread) for different morning start times in Dubai, preventing an all-out bunching. By extending the Pit Stop, they could be preventing the "big equalizer" Chateau mentions.

First bus from HCMC gets in at about 2pm. Direct flights 1225-1315 and 1415-1455. Any of these could fit, eh?

This shot was taken between 4:22 and 4:30 pm (assumes July 25th).

2)  building's orientation has to throw shadows the right way for 2 pm to 4 pm

Btw, I have this vibe that TAR15 has taken the TV approach. For TAR14, it is sports/Olympics (hence Michael Phelps, Nadia Comanecelli (sorry for spelling)). TAR15 has featured the LA River, a legendary Hollywood setting, they have a Japanese Game Show (which is def related to TV) in Japan. And the promos for Cambodia has a 'spy' feeling to it (especially on the Fedora part  ). And (less likely related but could be related) also the episode title quotes for episode 3 and 4 - Sean Penn Cambodia Here We Come (according to wiki, Sean Penn is an actor/director), and I'm Like Ricky Bobby (according to wiki, Ricky Bobby is a character in a comedy film).

Just pointing this out. ;D

Yep, an "amazing" newspaper, in fact probably The Daily Amazing Race. And the dog photo and headline are no doubt references to the family dog, a JR terrier named Jetson (http://www.facebook.com/people/Jetson-van-Munster/100000091827217).

I'm thinking they are doing well then when they arrive at the pitstop Phil sends them back to find their passports because we all know they cannot be checked in with out them and this is why their confessional is in the dark .. because they are now last  :'(

My sentiments as well. After they found their passports, they're in dead last. Hopefully Keri and Lance ain't the second last team.. if not it will be hard to watch these 2 get eliminated. :'(

Not Zev and Justin!!   :(

I re-read the spoilers for this leg and the person who took pictures, captured a "red team" who is believe to be  Zev/Justin from a distance running up stairs to where the pitstop was, then 10-15 minutes later the globetrotters and then not sure how long but  after some time Ericka and Brian showed up.  The person then states they stayed around a bit long (doesn't state how lonng) and then leftt.  So if there was 10-15 minutes with Zev-Justin and the person saw two other teams arrive, then why wasn't Zev/Justin spotted leaving to go search for their passports?   Maybe a total of 20-25 minutes passed during the time the person was there or maybe a little bit more?   You would think that Zev/Justin would have been spotted by the same person leaving especially if that amount of time passed.  What do you think?

of course, we don't know if  others teams had already arrived at the mat before any of those teams appears.....

and perhaps Zev/Justin left through another way but you would think they would go back the same way where their taxi dropped them off.

maybe I'm grasping at straws.  lol

Just an early guess: teams have to find a scroll/picture/plate depicting the queen somewhere inside the Russian market, then take the scroll with them to the pit stop.

Hi guys, I've been visiting RFF since I discovered the site about 3 episodes past in  TAR Season 14. I have to say I admire the enthusiasm most people here put into posting. Your research skills maybe at par with TAR researchers, maybe better.

Thanks very much for the infos.

Zev & Justin out of the Race? No. Don't do this to me again. :(

Based on the lateness of the confessional and the Pit Stop photo with Lance & Keri, I think they are out next.

I wonder: would they be eliminated even if it was a non-elimination leg?

Zen & Justins confessional looks like its outside? if so why so dark? Sunsets at 6:30 or so.. according to jenimama's sighting it was 3pm ish

Quote
This was taken on July 25, around 3pm to 3:30pm.

So, after running the errands on that day, we decided to go to wat phnom.  All of the sudden, someone tapped on my shoulder and told me to look at two Caucasian men wearing red, with black backpacks and that was when I realized that they were filming Amazing Race show

I can help but wonder why Zev & Justin look "happy" in this confessional.  CBS has spoiled this too well and in the past CBS used mis-direction.

I guess Zev & Justin just had time to adjust to the fact that they are out of the race.

Is it possible to see who came in first and last.

From the spoilers is looks like The Globe Trotters and Meghan & Cheynne are First and Second again this leg.

I think what happens is that Justin and Zev arrive 5th or 6th and have to search for their passport and get eliminated because Lance & Kerri, Mika & Canaan and Maria & Tiffany arrive right after them. Leaving Lance & Kerri in last place, but being saved due to Zev & Justin loosing their passport.

Could it possible be this incident refering to a lance & kerri again being saved for another week.

The appearance of the Switchback? Because this reminds me of the Baragwanath Market RB, but it doesn't really scream 'difficult RB'. Plus, if the Switchback did appear this episode, I'd think they'd hype it like mad. :P

There's zero chance of a Switchback this week because this is the first time a leg has had tasks in Phnom Pehn. (The last Cambodia leg was at Ankor Wat.) The Netherlands is still a possibility, but I agree that at this point, it looks to be the haybale roadblock in Sweden.

Raymond, extending what the Schnauzers said a bit, the Switchback was never an option for Phnom Penh unless WRP allows the task to be in a new geographic setting, which I doubt. The only Amazing Race ever in Cambodia was AR13 at Siem Reap and Angkor Wat. There will not be time on this next episode to do Phnom Penh and get up there too. Besides, there were no infamous ROADBLOCKs in that area. The echo chamber at Angkor Wat was one of the lamest ever and not suitable to be a Switchback.

I can't tell you the answer for sure, Hooky. However, I can give you a highly likely hypothesis for it. Amazing Race teams like to develop a pool of strategic funds so they can hire taxis for follow, or reward a taxi driver with a big bonus or have snacks whenever they travel or to just buy things like guidebooks and maps that can be very helpful. In order to obtain that, begging is all that is available to them except for the occasional pole dance (Rovillson in ARA2 in Frankfurt while waiting for a train).

Aren't they like issued a fanny pack for their passports/clues, which they have to like keep with them at all times?

Hmm..."one team monkeys around and breaks a cardinal rule". Could it be that the team lost their passport during the monkey task? And could one team refer to Zev & Justin only doing the monkey task, making it a possible Detour? (I don't read much of the spoilers by the way, so I might be wrong)

And my understanding that it against Amazing Race rules only for the 2 U.S. airports that teams hit most seasons (all but AR8). It is allowed at all foriegn airports except in countries where begging is prohibited liek the United Kingdom and Bangladesh.

If they are imitating monkeys during that task, they are probably at a location where monkeys are kept and wandering about. Could it be that Zev and Justin tossed their packs conveniently out of the way and while everyone's attention is on Zev and Justin doing the task, one of the monkeys breaks into their fanny pack and takes the passports? It's a kind of off the wall theory, but I'm pretty sure that monkeys at a tourist site like that have seen enough tourists with backpacks to learn how to operate zippers. It would fit the wording in the CBS statement too.

Watching the CBS ad during football last night, Phil's phrase to Zev & Justin at the mat seemed odd.  It was something like ... I cannot let you continue until you find your passports.  Will they get to hold their spot if they find the passport?  That could explain the happy looking confessional.

I like the idea of monkeys stealing the passports.  That would be quite unique.

I doubt any of the Racers would be keeping their passports in their backpacks; that would be an open invitation to disasrer whether there were monkeys or not.  The fanny pack, however, is something I could see even monkeys might walk off with.

I just reviewed the calculations and images and cosine corrections etc.

That gives me a readjustment to make 4:10 to 4:25 pm for this shot.

Maybe I'm an hour off?  I just can't get jenimama's time of 3:00 to 3:30 pm to make low enough shadows.  There's about a 10 degree difference in solar elevation from 3:30 to 4:10 pm.

I'm going to make some guesses here

teams equalized at the airport
teams arrive in Phnom Penh
first task, go to the Foreign Correspondents Club and get the newspaper/clue
Find the Queen? Not at the Kings Royal Palace though, we know at least one team went there by accident, perhaps they were looking for Raffles Hotel Le Royal? we see at least 1 team (Mika and Canaan) being handed a clue there.
**While searching for royalty in Cambodia, teams confuse a first lady for a queen
**Teams scramble to spot royalty in the jam-packed streets of Cambodia
Detours are next?
We hear that some teams are spotted at the Russian Market around 2:30 and from the promo we see Cheyne and Meghan. The Blogger recalls spotting these teams ..5 pairs
Canaan Smith and Mika Combs (Rambo guy)
Maria Ho and Tiffany Michelle
Gary and Matt Tomljenovich
Meghan Rickey and Cheyne Whitney
A Male/Male team, one was shorter so I assume Dan & Sam
I think from the photo it looks like Lance and Keri choose this task as well leaving ..
Herb and Nate
Brian and Ericka
Zev and Justin unaccounted for so perhaps they took the other detour option? and it was faster seeing as these are the first 3 teams witnessed arriving at the pitstop
Roadblockers per screencaps/ and eye witness evidence
Herb
Ericka
Zev
Canaan
Dan
Tiffany?
Meghan/Cheyne unknown
Lance/Keri unknown

Zev and Justin lose their passports and cannot check in, they go back to retrieve them and whether they recover them or not this now puts them in last place

and yeah, 1 team will be eliminated

I have double-checked the flight information provided in this episode. The earlier VN670 that I had listed for July 24 or 25 apparently did not exist. Plus with Chateau's work, the date of July 25 is more likely for SGH to PNH. Other than VN670, the original times for VN817 (Dep. 1225 arr. 1315) is accurate and VN840 and VN314 are not applicable because every team finally got on VN817.

On the passport: And it was all avoidable. Why keep anything other than clues, money, or travel documents in the fanny pack?

Just like incomplete clue reading.  This week, Cannan and Mika could have re-read the clue before they got to the FCC and and asked the question with "assignment" not "task" the first time. Future Racers need to learn the balance between fraticness and taking a moment to review and doublecheck their clues -- it would save them more time in the long run.

Too bad the first teams to the airport did not manage to catch
Thai Airways TG 687 leaving at 8:50 pm and arriving at 10:15 pm in Bangkok
or
Lufthansa LH 773  leaving at 9:10 pm and arriving BKK at 10:40 pm
From Bangkok they could take
Bangkok Airways PG 931 leaving at 7:40 am and arriving at 8:50 am in Phnom Penh

That would be a nice lead over the 1:15 pm arrivals they got.

It was strange when the lady at the Vietnam Airways counter said they were the only airline flying to Sean Penn, Cambodia.  Probably a travel restriction that we were not party to.

Sam and Dan - It was a lucky first-place finish for them, but they did great this entire leg, I must say. Other than the fact that they lied about not having found the clue at the hotel. That wasn't really nice, neither was it necessary.

Flight Time and Big Easy - Still dominating the race, huh.

Brian and Ericka - I was amazed when they completed the Detour seconds after obtaining the piece of fabric from the store owner. I was like, "huh????" but they did good this leg, worked together really well. They're climbing up the ladder!

Gary and Matt - They're still working well together and still doing very well. Which surprises me, I really thought prior to the race that they'd be a bickering duo.

Meghan and Cheyne - I really love how they helped Brian and Ericka by giving them directions to the shop. That was sweet and so contrasting to Sam and Dan's lying. And they're still so loving! Awww.

Lance and Keri - LOL at Phil's expression when Lance did that unncessary action at the pit-stop. You know, I really can't stand how Lance just has to flex his muscles at every opportunity.

Mika and Canaan - Still at the back of the pack heh. But they're so cute, I can't help just loving them.

Maria and Tiffany - They haven't exactly been doing extremely well so far, huh. But I love their support for each other, still really like them. And they're indeed lucky to have avoided elimination once again.

Zev and Justin - What else can I say, but it really sucks to go out this way. They had a truly fantastic leg, they came in first, and this had to happen. Guess it's kinda about "more haste, less speed". Gosh I love these guys, it was sad to see them go. I almost tear-ed when Justin said it was his fault but Zev said that it wasn't. Well, at least I think that these guys will go a long way in their friendship. :)

Hmm, the three all-male teams left have been dominating the race, coming in first for the past three legs. Come on, let another team shine! Brian and Ericka for a win!

I predict this happens:
Leg 5:
Meghan & Cheyne are Top 3
Herb & Nate are ahead
Maria & Tiffany/Mika & Canaan barely survive, arriving after the other

Leg 6:
Sam & Dan/Herb & Nate arrive at the mat 2nd/3rd (as they've done so in Legs 2 & 4 :funny:), behind some random team (Gary & Matt in Leg 2, Zev & Justin in Leg 4 - I suggest Brian & Ericka )
Meghan & Cheyne are 4th/5th
Maria & Tiffany/Mika & Canaan are behind again, with Mika & Canaan eliminated (assuming Lance & Keri were eliminated last leg - I checked, this is the spoiler thread :funny:)

And it's funny that even though there were more placing shuffles in this season than TAR 13 & TAR 14, the finishing order is just as predictable. :funny:

Oh, Zev and Justin. From 8th to 1st and then last... :'( After watching Elimination Station, they got hit with REALLY bad luck. Shame too, they were a "disability" team that the producers actually handled very nicely.

Not much to say about last night's episode. It was in a similar style as HCMC. I loled at MIka/Canaan for saying "task" instead of "assignment" and calling Kennedy Queen Elizabeth.

Not too keen about the airport drama. Yes, we know all of them are going to make it on the same flight; you can't trick us. For that, it pulls the episode down to 8/10. (A still pretty solid episode though.)

Zev and Justin won motorcycles  :yess:

I hope TPTB also gave motorcycles to Sam and Dan, just to be fair. They had their travel documents and weren't disqualified. (This is sort of like the four-way tie on the first leg of TAR 4 when the prize was a trip and TPTB gave all four teams that prize.)

tvguide interview ...

TVGuide.com: They didn't announce a prize for you guys. Was that edited out because you eventually got eliminated?
Justin: It was probably the line of the episode, but it got edited out. We won motorcycles and after Phil told us, Zev goes, "Motorcycle?! I can barely drive a car!"
Zev: What am I going to do with a motorcycle? My mom's not going to let me drive a motorcycle.
Justin: I don't think anyone's ever rejected a prize before, but that's what he did. But I don't think we'll be getting those motorcycles. I don't think you'll be seeing us riding on [Highway] 1 with wind blowing in our hair.

I love Zev & Justin, but the prize should go to Sam & Dan. You've got to follow the rules to win a prize. When Phil said "You're team number 1!" I thought they might still be in it. I was fooled. But I'm bugged by how everyone is acting like they still won the leg. They didn't (sadly).

No...you may not be able to see Elim Station where all is explained. ...they went into a monastery in error at the monkey task. ...it was dark and Justin pulled out his headlamp...and that is when the passport fell out. It was found there later and returned to the Embassy. Justin thus was sure it was his fault.  :'( :'(

Thanks Slowhatch!

No wonder it was so hard for me to find that location. There is a brand new building there.  :ascared   Turns out that the GE image  must be older than the 2009 date on it.  Is there a way to find the real image dates?  Because I was using that 2009 as an indication of how recent the image was taken.

Based on preview shot I was hunting for side by side peaked gables.  That led me to the wrong place.  GE's image of this place only has one of the peaked gables.   :groan:

It took Puddin's picture skills to match those stupa tops.  Nice work Puddin.  And then, the shot that you found of the monks returning to the wat had the missing building in it!

This episode actually reminded me alot about many incidences which happened in the past seasons.

On Zev and Justin checking in first and getting eliminated -
Heather and Eve, anyone?

On Zev and Justin losing passport -
Toni and Dallas, anyone?

On Maria and Tiffany arriving last but not eliminated -
Kelly and Christy anyone?

On Sam and Dan, Gary and Matt, Herbert and Nathaniel continuously being the top 5 teams -
Season 9, Eric and Jeremy and BJ and Tyler anyone?
Season 1, Kevin and Drew, Joe and Bill and Rob and Brennan anyone?
Season 4, David and Jeff, Reichen and Chip, Jon and Al anyone?

I love the Detour, but would have loved it more if there were more people in the market. This could have been a great Roadblock in India! Find the girl wearing the scarf, in an Indian market! EPIC LOVE. :funny:

Thought the persuading a family of 4 to buy helmets was actually quite easy and was shocked the teams didn't actually wanted to do it. I'm very sure a family of 4 in cambodia can afford 4 spiffeh helmets for 10 bucks over there.. and it's for safety as well, so why not? And you get to be shot on The Amazing Race too?!?!

I didn't like the Roadblock. I thought it came off as lame and very insulting towards the Cambodian culture. Next time people think about Cambodia on The Amazing Race, the first word that will probably pop up may be "Monkeys". Cambodia is not all about monkeys! I loved TAR 13's Cambodia leg so much more. The leg then was so much fun and showed as the land and sea of the country and so much of her culture and people.

And i'm just darn sad Zev and Justin lost their passport, but i'm darn happy Maria and Tiff got to stay for another leg! <3

I'm officially rooting for Meghan and Cheyne and Brian and Ericka. I just can't find any reasons not to love Meghan and Cheyne. They're just such a lovable couple! :hearts:

Granted, Phnom Penh doesn't have great places such as Angkor Wat or Tonle Sap. Although TAR 13's Cambodia leg was far more exciting than this one.

On the other hand, though, this leg's roadblock was better than the other one.

I actually like the other one better. Although some people may think that going to a chamber room to do a clap is simply lame.. but ain't the amazing race all about travelling and experience? I thought tasks like this, which let you experience interesting/fun stuff in the country is really interesting and takes your mind off the stress of the race. For example, the foot massage in China in TAR 14, elephants in the Phuket Zoo in TAR 14, fighting the cholitas in TAR 13 and many other more great tasks the producers have put on the race. These are tasks you can't do except by travelling to the country and experience it for your own..

As for the monkeying around RB this leg.. you can monkey around anytime at home and do those acts if you want. That's what i didn't like about it. :(

Justin should've been less hasty while getting out the headlamp.  If he had, he & Zev would've still been in the Race.  Of course, that would've meant that Maria & Tiffany would've been out and there would be no all-female teams left in the Race, but I like Zev & Justin more.

They didn't know and when you're racing, every second counts. Justin had no idea at the time that he was in the wrong place. Even so, they still finished first in the leg, they just didn't have the passport.

I give them props for admitting they didn't have the passport and I also give them props for not blaming each other. This could have easily turned into Blame My Fellow Racer, but Zev had Justin's back. Plus, Justin as puddin has mentioned has beaten himself aplenty over it. I wish they were able to go further, but as we've seen with Toni & Dallas, you can't go anywhere without your passport. Sometime fate pulls evil tricks at the most inopportune time.

Time Magazine has online its original article from 1967 on Jackie Kennedy's visit to Cambodia (link) (http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,844076,00.html?promoid=googlep). As it turns out, it was an official visit, as Phil stated in the episode, but it was not a state visit, as she was not representing then-President Lyndon Johnson, and she was not First Lady, but she was there for the dedication of a street in a port city to honor the late President John Kennedy.

You're probably right.  Besides, it was so dark that the cameras missed it as well.  Hindsight's always 20/20 and it's a much less egregious error than Dallas's error two seasons ago anyway.  I was just frustrated.

Yeah, Joab, not much evidence of that in Season 4. That season was actually the most unpredictable of all the races (if you look at placements in the first few legs).

And in response to Raymond, I also don't want to see any Nick & Starr-esque traits of any kind in Meghan & Cheyne. I keep worrying that I'm going to start disliking them, even though I don't want to.

The last photo is of a helicopter with a camera man hanging out the door. Is there any significance to this other than that the cameraman might taking aerial shots for the Amazing Race?
