Those screencaps show that Chateau's first impression was correct -- 12 teams. And that unless there was a super-delayed start for the 12th team to fly to Tokyo that we never heard about, a team was eliminated at the start.

I don't have any real reason to question the starting line task/elimination, but doesn't this setup seem a little sloppy? Setting up the mat among a bunch of production people? Chateau, were these bystanders part of the task in some way that you know of?

Since this is the base of Tokyo Tower, first clue box location, and this Racer is running away we can conclude that the clue received there is not the one that gives the morning departure times. So, right after the tower the teams were sent on to the gameshow challenge. No doubt that is where they will win their departure times.

I agree with mjriches about what is called the Spanish East Indies to describe Spanish territories in Asia-Pacific which lasted over three centuries (1565 to 1899). It encompassed the Philippine Islands (Las Islas Filipinas), and its dependencies including the Mariana Islands and the Caroline Islands, and for a period of time, parts of Formosa (Taiwan), Sabah, and parts of the Moluccas. It also included Guam, where Spanish is still a major language.
Now, I would say that this might be a hint about where a leg after Japan was going since there are no other current Spanish speaking countries outside the Western Hemisphere except Spain, the Balearic and Canary Islands controlled by Spain and Ceuta and Melilla (Spanish city-states on the Moroccan side of the Straits of Gilbraltar that I tend to forget about - and you do too, admit it).
The inclusion of Allez and of Cambodia, a French colony until 1953, makes it likely that those languages shown are indeed markers of where the race went. This has altered my thinking to the extent that vamanos could be telling us that a Sapnish language country was included in AR15. it could also be an instance of misdirection, but I don't think so. I think the meaning of this is that the Philippines was the missing second leg. We'll see no later than October 4.

I think the possibility of the languages meaning something seem SO far off, but just putting it here: if the Philippines does get visited, they either went to Ilocos or Zamboanga, if we're following the "languages mean something" route. Zamboangueños speak Chavacano, a Spanish creole language. And Ilocos has retained some of its Spanish influences. Both the Ilocos & Zamboanga regions have an international airport, meaning they don't have to fly through any of the major Philippine airports. However, I doubt it's the case for this one. They're either going to get noticed (Ilocos), or the area could be too dangerous (Zamboanga).
ETA: Following up on what I said, I checked flightstats for flights to Zamboanga. (I think there's a bigger chance Zamboanga is visited than Ilocos.) There's one arriving at 4:15 pm, 7/21/09. (Details are somewhat fuzzy. :P I'll recheck it later.) Assuming the tasks are do-able at night (think India 1 of TAR 13), they leave Zamboanga in the morning of 7/22/09, leaving enough time for teams to catch flights to Ho Chi Minh. However, this could only work if: a) the Zamboanga tasks are done at night or b) the Zamboanga tasks are done in the morning, teams leave Zamboanga in the evening of 7/22/09 and the Ho Chi Minh tasks are done at night. In short: Possible, but VERY unlikely.

"Vamanos" = SPELLING FAIL!
It should be "vámonos", but that means more like "Let's Go" (implying 'we') than "Go!" if they wanted the equivalent imperative they should have chosen "Vamos", "vayamos" (we) or "Vayan" (pl. you)
In Japanese, it says ikinasai...it's polite imperative, I would've chosen ike! (informal imperative) or ikou! (let's go) for the tone (they're more compatible with the explanation point).
In French, they nailed it with "Allez"

Some other useful grammatical notes: The word "necesito" is very flexible, meaning I need, I want, please, I must, I have, I think, I should, thank you, Help me, watermelon, sandals, algebra, closed-captioning, and swordfish.
You may substitude "ainíd" for "necesito."
Now, I ask, where is TARAsiaFan when you need him? Nobody does interpretations of Mirna like him!

From Walkingpneumonia's photo shot identification I can pin prick the location of Marcia & Ron as they joined the troop of Blue-visored game players in Yoyogi Park.
The Muscle Theater was not there in 2007 when the GE image was taken. So I added it.
I'm going to guess that the clue reads something like:
Take the train to Shibuya Station and join a troop of Game Show participants in colored visors in nearby Yoyogi Park.
From there they walk to NHK Hall to meet host Rome Kanda.

...and since we're guessing (speculating) I'd say, since there are so many different colored visors, they had to make the groups put on the visors and they follow the "leaders"

Is there ANY chance this is happening on the next day? I mean, could they have gone somewhere else where they stayed for the night? Or if that is definitely not the case (which seems to be based on the lighting at the blue visors pic - the lighting looks somewhat similar to the Tokyo Tower), maybe there are 11 tourist groups (I love me some Japanese game shows :funny:), all wearing differently-colored visors & we just haven't seen it yet.
I never thought I'd get this right. :funny: Although looking back, you can see that (unless lighting is messing up the color), there is another set of tourists wearing black (?) visors beside the green-visor group.

The inclusion of the Italian word for "go" puts the nail in the coffin for my concept that the various languages were indicative of places AR15 visited. That means that the Spanish vandamos hsa no implications. Peach has said this previously but now I can confirm it.

The Japanese Game Show Task appears to be a Roadblock (as what some teams hold their clues) (or it can be a task ahead of the RB).
From this we can deduce:
RB (Game Show) Task to Pitstop (The Shepherding).
Great job, uycocoa. :tup: It does look like there's a RB this leg, but I think the teams do the RB before the game show task. Maybe they have to wait every five minutes for a presentation or something after finishing the RB? Like the Yellowstone geyser clue in Season 8?

Oh something else, I did those translations before I saw the video (based on the screenies only), but when I saw it, I noticed the part said in Japanese doesn't match what's written. The word is "ikinasai" (please go, formally) and the audio says "ikimasho" (let's go)

The answer is that Thai Airways, no surprise, flies from Cambodia to Bangkok and from Bangkok to Dubai. The flight possiblities on TG from PNH to BKK are: TG697 1005 1110 TG699 2025 2130 However, you should know that there are twice as many flights on the combination of Bangkok Airways or ThaiAirAsia.
From Bangkok to Dubai, there are: TG4503 0125 0430 TG517 1800 2130 and again twice as many flights on Emirates
I checked out whether TG flies from either HoChiMinh City or Hanoi to Phnom Penh, but it does not. I also checked whether it flies from Japan to anywhere, but it does not (not even as part of combinations).

Chateau...can you pinpoint that exact location based on the graffiti?
That is at the mouth of the tunnel. It is also very early. The shadows during the "go" were perpendicular to the river. In this sequence the teams are "arriving " at the start line by walking down the tunnel. It's the same tunnel that I put in the homemade promo.
This homemade promo shot was taken at essentially the same time of day as the "go" but exactly one week later.

SO am rewatching now...looked like maybe 3 of the 11 teams had a "preview" of themselves in Nam at the Intro in the very first leg. SO first leg giving us a preview of the second....
