I'm more excited for what CBS has on tonight at 6, rather than what is on at 8.

If they're going to a higher seeded team that's located in that region, then it makes sense.

PREVIOUSLY ON .. THE AMAZING RACE:

Phil: Eight teams went from Rumania to Krasnoyarsk, Siberia. Mark/Michael met with disaster at the Detour. Christie/Jodi, Kisha/Jen surged ahead. But it was the flight attendants who pulled out their first win. (Cab ride recraps ...) Targeting Amanda/Kris as a threat, Margie/Luke hit them with the new twist, the blind U-Turn that forced them to repeat the stacking Detour. Luke struggled at the Roadblock but eventually prevailed. In the end, Amanda/Kris couldn't make up the time and were Philiminated. Tonight, Tammy/Vic ditch their friends. Vic: Sorry! (Not!) Margie: Can't trust Victor anymore. Game on.

Credits roll.

Phil: This is Krasnoyarsk, Russia. Over a million people, industrial center of Siberia. This theatre, founded during WWII, has been instrumental in the cultural development of this isolated city and was the 4th pitstop in a Race around the world.

Christie/Jodi, 12:34 pm, CLUE: Ride the TransSiberian Railway to Novosibirsk. (They couldn't pronounce that either!)
While gloating, I missed what landmark they're going to find their clue at though.

Kisha/Jen, 12:36 pm.
It's snowing.
It's snowy/muddy everywhere. It's gnarly. It's freezing cold.
The clue says make your way ON FOOT apparently, to the Trans Siberian Railway.
They find the Central Railway Station. Someone obviously told them how to prounounce Novosibirsk.
They don't leave until 10:26 pm.
EQUALIZED!

Boarding the train, Racers complain about "Siberian Hell."
Of course it's dark and snowy.
Sleeper cars!
Luke: I've never had an experience like this, having a bed on a train!
Kisha/Jen are tall so their feet hang off.
DAWN.
They cross a river, possibly the Volga?
Possibly the Irkutsk or Yakutsk? I'm guessing T O T A L L Y!
Gaydad/kid discover that Margie/Luke knocked off Amanda/Kris.
Luke motions "big strong guy" (i.e., Kris)
Tammy/Vic kinda surprised that Margie/Luke laid it down.
Beautiful art deco in the middle of Siberia.
NOVOSIBIRSK.
Teams run from the train in the snowy slush.
Across the town square.
Looking for Taxis.
Jamie/Cara take the early lead.
They ask Margie to follow their cab.
Jamie conf: We were drawn to them right from the start. We've worked together very well.
Vic thanks his driver: Spasyibo!
Stuntmen almost get run over crossing a street and giggle that it's like a stunt.
Kisha/Jen get a big confessional. Early. With odd music. Rarely a good sign.
Jamie/Cara get one too, but with funsy music instead.
Lots of cabss pass Gaydad/Gaykid's cab. They find it "annoying."

CLUE, Jamie/Cara: DETOUR.
Phil: Between two unavoidable aspects of Siberian life.
Russian Bride: Choose a car with a 4 speed manual transmission, a Lara, search for a waiting bride. Drive her acrosss town to the church where the groom is waiting. Wedding pic for the next clue.
Russian Snowplow: Get selves to this stadium, drive snowplow through a training course for the next clue.

It's a race, but don't latch onto teams and then take off when you say you're going to stick together. That could come back to bite my Asian brother and sister.

Jamie/Cara and Margie/Luke immediately choose snowplow.
Next up, Tammy/Vic choose to buddy up with them.
Three teams driving cars they have no idea how to drive on icy icy roads. Whee!
That's three teams for the snowplow.
Mel/Mike decide to do the other Detour.
Jamie/Cara, Tammy/Vic stop for gas and directions.
Tammy/Vic ask someone putting gas in car.
He directs them.
Vic leaves without the others.
Margie: Victor what are you doing?
Margie takes off after Vic.
She'll look out for the girls too.
Luke doesn't want Margie to follow Vic.
Tammy/Vic need to ask directions again to the stadium.
Margie just got directions from someone else.
But Vic leaves her again. "Sorry!"
Margie translates for Luke, conf: Sneaky. Got directions and took off. We're a little suspicious of them. Game on.

COMMERCIAL.

YAY more drunk locals!!!
Lord what is it this season and the alcoholics....I mean am mean seriously is the whole world ripped?

In 5th, Christie/Jodie get to the DETOUR.
Mark/Michael finally get there.
Kisha/Jen arrive in 8th and can't drive the stick shift.
But Mark/Michael love their car.

Mel/Mike together arrive at Apt. 4. They escort the bride down some rickety stairs.
Now that's more like my first impression of Siberia. Dank hallways ... rickety steps ... crumbling infrastructure ... lol
But honestly this has exceeded my wildest imaginings.
READING CLUE, Tammy/Vic: Choose a Snowplow!
There are objects all over that kinda look like snowplows.
The gentlemen in the area don't speak Engrish. Only Pa-Russki.
But finally Vic figures it out and finds the course, set off by tires.
Jamie/Cara are losing patience with the locals. Who don't understand them!
Margie/Luke seem to have figured out which thingy they're supposed to drive.
Mel/Mike find that their directions are all meshugena. They ask directions how to get the bride to the church.
Airbabes get a long drawn out confessional about "locals who reeked of vodka" or summat. Kkkendra of the North?
Victor lets Tammy show him where to drive.
Vic: Please turn. Yes!
He's done.
Tammy's turn. He's aiming the little red thingy to point her out. She doesn't appreciate it.
Jamie/Cara say they can drive "as long as there's no manual transmission involved." Umm ... lol ...
Luke waves at Margie. She eeks to a stop and Luke gets in.

Building 4, where Kisha/Jen are going to pick up the bride. Methinks they chose the wrong Detour.
They escort the bride down the steps as the airbabes arrive, also haveing chosen the wrong Detour.
Two team race for last, methinks.

Tammy/Vic, CLUE, Drive to Techniskaya Bibliotekah somethingorother.
Tammy, ever the brainy one: It sounds like a library! (Yes, bibliotek- is kinda a root word for Library or Bookplace in about 100 languages.)
Finishing in 2nd (or 3rd? Did Margie/Luke leave too? apparently so) Jamie/Cara eschew the windshield washer, perhaps it's frozen?

Mel/Mike arrive at a church. Is it the right one? They have to find a groom. They do! PICTURE! CLUE! Probably 4th.
Drive to the Bibliotekah Whatevia and search for your next clue.
Mark/Michael are still on the snowplow course. They finish in 5th I think .
Kisha/Jen have murdered their engine somehow. Probably bad shifting.
Too much gas! Flooded it!
The bride giggles.
The airbabes seem to catch up.
They got directions. They find a church.
The airbabes are at *a* church but don't see a red and yellow flag.
They get out, with the bride. WRONG CHURCH!
Airbabes: We're done! We're out!

COMMERCIAL.

Christie/Jodie ask a woman at the religious object vending spot, for directions.
She "visited THE WRONG really pretty church."
They were supposed to be in the city center apparently. The bride sits politely in the back seat.
Margie/Luke and Jamie/Cara are paired up finding the Library.
Tammy/Vic skid on the ice too.
Margie/Luke, ROADBLOCK. "Who has stamina and absolutely no shame?"
Phil: A Winter marathon the way locals do it. One person partners with local runners, warms up for 10 minutes, STRIPS DOWN TO THEIR CIVVIES AND runs 1.4 miles to the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, the pitstop where their partner is waiting. Last team to check in MAY be eliminated.

Because it's destined to be said, although it may be just me...but I am pretty sure that TPTB updated the opening montage.  Or they've been doing so all year but it's the first time I actually paid attention to it.  This season is truly a change in tradition (indoor pitstops, blind U-Turns, no time or money, Phil in...).

Minus 3 Celsius? Is that all?
That's barely bra-and-pantie weather!
Margie observes that they would have forfeited if she had run!
Luke runs.
Tammy runs.
Jamie runs with Cara walking alongside.
Apparently the locals are finding them attractive!   A local hit on her?

After some uncertain driving, Mel/Mike arrive at the Library in 4th.
Mike the young guy will do it.

Mark/Mike with growing beards feel good among the Cossacks. They speak some apparently fake Russian.
I can't tell which of 'em will run.

Love the warmups. You get crushed to death by a big Russian guy to get the kinks out.

Finally Kisha/Jen arrive at a church. The right one! SNAP! They're off to the Bibliotekah.
But first, directions from the locals. They've learned "Spasyibo" too.
In last, Christie/Jodi find the correct church.
They get the Bibliotekah clue. They'll follow a cab for sure tracking.

In the vehicle, Margie cheers for Luke.
Translating his confessional: Very embarrased, but wanted to finish #1 so I kept running!

Cara thinks they've found the finish location.
Vic arrives also, and it's a partner low-five. She doesn't like him at all.
Luke climbs steps in his underwear with Margie, indoors.

Ballerina: Welcome to Novosibirsk!
Phil: Margie/Luke, you're team #1. You've won a trip for two to St. Lucia!

So this roadblock is the 2nd shout out to a former racer.  The money begging from Blake inspired the original NEL penalty, and now there's the Jon Corso roadblock thanks to one of his final great moments.

Phil: Tammy/Victor, you're team #2.
The runner of the Jamie/Cara team apparently walked some of the way, to the dismay of her partner.

Phil: Jamie/Cara, you are team #3.

"Mark" runs in his huge-ass boxers and huge-ass boots.

Christie/Jodie decide to "stay calm" as Kisha/Jen drive like maniacs.
The roads are kinda icy, and the gears can be tricky.
Christie/Jodie offer to pay the cabbie and follow him.
They don't seem to be having trouble with the stick.
Kisha/Jen almost wreck. Ouch! "I've never driven in Novosibirsk!"
They get another confessional. Double elim tonight? They're BOTH getting major mega confessionals.
Now, Kisha/Jen stuck in traffic.
Kisha: We're screwed.

COMMERCIAL.

Kisha/Jen, DETOUR.
Jen had to PUT ON underwear! She doesn't wear any.
Christie/Jodi arrive in last. One of 'em chooses to run.
Both the last place teams are getting confessionals out the wazoo.
Kisha/Jen running basically together.
Jen doesn't find it embarrassing "not one little bit" that people are whistling at her!
The airbabe looks pretty good, too!

Jen arrives looking strong. Kisha is very happy.
Christie's partner, not so happy.

Phil: Kisha/Jen, you're team #6.

Ballerina: Welcome to Novosibirsk.
Phil: Christie/Jodi, you're the last team to arrive. Sorry to tell you, you'll be the last team starting the next leg of the race. NON-ELIM. Sometime next leg, you'll have to complete a Speed Bump. That may seriously jeopardize your chances. Goes to show you, you can go first to last quick.
Conf: We do well in last. We're the underdogs. We have something else to do now, and we'll do our best to get it done.

Phil: Luke gets emotional over the poverty in India.
He sheds tears in a car as they drive through a town.
Margie: They're eating garbage.

Phil: ... and teams experience the chaos of the culture.
Street scenes:
Jamie/Cara lost a "bag" among the crowd.
Mel (?) begs for Rupees.
A camel looks funny at Kisha/Jen and they look back at it funny.

For a man at his age, Phil does look good enough. :funny:

For me, i was kinda disappointed Vic/Tammy drove off, because they agreed to work together but just went off. But i believe that's because they really just want to do their own thing and really not follow the crowd. Besides, their alliance with C/J and M/L is somewhere there but not there (not spoken off much yet) and i think they don't really see the two as their alliance, but teams they're cool to work with. I would have wished though that they could have told Margie and Luke that they want to do their own thing and drive off, and tell them if they wanna follow them, they're cool with it. That seems alot more nicer.

Margie and Luke survived the U-TURN accusations, and i bet everyone forgot about them U-TURNing already, so... :funny: Some pretty awesome edit huh? I like how Luke just rolls his eyes everytime he doesn't agree with something. It's really funny.

Cara and Jaime really picked a good alliance to work with. Margie and Luke knows where to drive and where to go.. Cara and Jaime, although seemed like they're following around, seemed to be having problems with directions at times. But there were also times where their directions were good. But i believe without the alliance, they could have fair alot more worst.

Mel and Mike, lesser featured, but STILL FREAKING FUNNY AND AWESOME.

Mark looks cute when he's running. LOL!

Kisha and Jen, although doing badly.. managed to keep their composure together? :ascared They didn't even scream at each other after the train..

And i'm sad Christie and Jodi came in last, but love their attitude!!!!!!!!!!!!

OKAY, THE ROADBLOCK WAS FUN, THE DETOUR WAS... INTERESTING? And the leg was short. There were just so few clues i thought.. But overall.. a predictable leg and no change in placings... :(

The detour was odd, and the apartment building for Russian Bride wasn't even like Singapore in TAR3 (then again, that didn't look too complicated, either). My biggest complaint? The lack of imagination used to describe detours now. XD While roadblocks are still looking as strong as ever (Who has stamina and no shame?), well...

Balancing Dolly/Austrain Folly
Gypsy Moves/Vampire Remains
Stack/Construct
Russian Bride/Russian Snowplow

Maybe I'm overreacting.

The ballet girl greeter had a really deep voice and eyes that could kill. But what was the point of her if the racers could barely hear or see her? Interestingly enough, that was the first solo female greeter on the entire race.

The roadblock was fun, and although the detour was pretty boring I could at least understand that there's not too much in Siberia anyway (though the snowplow looked pretty funny).

Still not a huge fan of Tammy & Victor, and would you look at that - Christie & Jodi and Kisha & Jen are no longer invisible (despite rather poor performances this leg). Mark & Michael seem to be a bit on the blundering side, Mel & Mike are hysterical, Margie & Luke/Cara & Jaime are a monolith now, but I still like both of them.

Agreeing with Joab - not as good as the previous two, but it does look like we're going to be in for a treat next week. (Camels hooray!)

Another exciting episode!  I loved it!  Just like I thought, with Amanda & Kris gone and only interesting teams left, this is a great race we have going for us!  So tense and action-packed!

Margie & Luke: A well-earned first-place finish!  I'm glad they rallied from getting ditched by their erstwhile allies, and I'm glad they did well at the Detour!  Luke really cleaned up at the Roadblock, and I'm happy they notched their second win!  It seems all they've done is finish first or fourth so far.

Tammy & Victor: Ladies and gentlemen, we have our villain (or villain team).  I understand their need to race on their own, and it's a good strategy, for the most part, to use others as long as you need them before then tossing them aside, but there was something about the way they went about ditching Margie & Luke and Jaime & Cara that sort of rubbed me the wrong way.  I don't know why, but it did.  That said, good job on both of their parts at the Detour and nice running from Tammy at the Roadblock (though that was more due to Cara walking rather than running).

Jaime & Cara: Highest finish ever, ladies!  Congratulations!  Jaime's panic over non-English-speaking snowplow guys made me cringe a bit, but she got it together and did well enough at the Detour with Cara.  I think they could've nailed second place had either Jaime done the Roadblock, or had Cara at least grasped the concept of RUNNING!  Especially in the cold!  Still, third place is not too shabby, so great job, girls!  (But I hope the preview of that cab driving away with whatever bag you're talking isn't a harbinger of doom for you.)

Mel & Mike: Not much of you guys this week, but you seemed to do a solid enough job with the Russian Bride Detour.  They did seem to get lost a lot, though.

Mark & Michael: Been awhile since they ran a good leg.  Good work on the Detour and nice job on Mark's part with the Roadblock.  But not much of them this week.

Kisha & Jen: If you come on TAR, ladies, always be prepared in case you have to drive stick at one point.  Looking at YOU, Jen!  That alone dropped them so far back (though getting lost a lot didn't help matters, nor did Kisha leading them away from where everyone else was getting cabs), they almost got last!  They'd better be thankful for Christie & Jodi's unreliable local guide.

Christie & Jodi: Certainly a tough week for you, girls.  You got lost quite a bit, found a local to help you with the Russian Bride Detour, had said local prove how unreliable he was by leading you to the wrong church entirely, and basically landed in last place because of it.  Because I blame that local more than I blame you two, I'm glad you got a reprieve.  But since you're going to India next week, I really hope you can overcome that Speed Bump.

The tasks were good, and I did love that the teams had to rely on their own wits in self-navigation.  That seemed to determine the placings on this leg.  Oh, and for the Detour, I'd have done Russian Snowplow.  As we saw with Russian Bride, that was definitely the harder one, due to the extra bit of self-navigation.

Great episode!  Can't wait for next week!

LOVE: Margie/Luke, Tammy/Victor, Jaime/Cara, Mel/Mike, Mark/Michael, Kisha/Jen, Christie/Jodi
LIKE: No one
NEUTRAL: No one
DISLIKE: No one

Still only loves left!  Excellent season, excellent casting!

WHAT??!! No times??  (:;)

I don't like the precedent either, but consider that team were all going to bunch minutes after pit stop release at the trian station. If you want to be mad about something, then why did AR14 producers make them wait nearly 10 hours for a train to Novosibirsk when there were about 6 trains in that time period? I think this is worth getting upset about.

I cannot pass up the opportunity for a Siberian rivers geography lesson. The two major rivers are the Yenisei and the Ob. The Yenisei is at Krasnojarsk and the Ob is at Novosibirsk. The Yenisei at 3445 miles is the 5th longest river in the world. The Ob is "only" 2100 miles. I will hazard a guess that those rivers are responsible for those cities to be where they are and population over 1 million each. There aer a few other minor rivers crossed in route, but they are not worth talking about.

So are the people in every Middle Eastern country and much of Europe and the United States. So what's new?

What ever happened to driver training? and using stick shift cars like I learned on (I drove stick shifts until 8 years ago when my wife forced a change to an automatic SUV).

It is most certainly strange timing, apskip. I just figured that TPTB would have rather had the teams wandering around sightseeing in the evening in Krasnoyarsk than sitting at an HoH deal in Novosibirsk in the very early morning hours. I would think that security of the teams would be easier the way they did it.

I'm full Asian and I'm a damned good driver!  :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles: :knuckles:

This episode wasn't as good as the early ones for me (most likely because two of my biggest favorites are gone forever!), but it is still above seasons 12 and 13 by a long shot! Now for the teams:

Margie & Luke: The top 3 teams were all very strong this time, and made few mistakes (although I do think it was mostly luck). The mother/son did very well and will definitely go all the way. I like them still, but it will take time to rediscover my liking for them after the ridiculous U-turn choice.

Tammy & Victor: I liked them a lot more on this episode, but I was puzzled by the way they randomly left Jaime & Cara and Margie & Luke behind at that gas station (or whatever it was). If you're gonna leech information off people, you have to expect that they'll want some help from you in return. What goes around comes around. But at least they weren't bickering.

Jaime & Cara: They did well too and Jaime is really showing her intensity now. She is not a person to get frustrated on this race, but I think her intensity is what will get her team to the Final 3. I'm glad there's a female team that has intensity; it makes things more interesting.

Mel & Mike: They are starting to show their exhaustion, but somehow they still beat the three teams below them (how they did it I'm still not sure). I think that at this point only promotion by CBS people is what's keeping them alive now.

Mark & Michael: I really want to see them do better, because I know they have it in them, but they're not showing it. They are still likeable, but they have moved from my "love" list to my "like" one, and I wish they would move up (because I'm doomed in Joab's game without them surging ahead).

Kisha & Jen: I was disappointed to see these last two teams instantly fall to last and stay there the whole episode, because it was pretty uninteresting to see them back here. I don't really like this team, but I want them to stay for sheer unpredictability.

Christie & Jodi: I'm glad we didn't say goodbye to them this time, because I don't think this leg was very fair to them. I hope they do better in India, but I don't think I'll be holding my breath (because the Speed Bump sounds hard).

I liked the episode, but it wasn't as great as the first four. I'm just glad that it was a non-elim, because it feels like a normal length season again! :jam: And I'm hoping for some unpredictability and mixups next time!

This was a very good leg, it was better than the last one, because it had self-driving, but I just wish they had more destinations in it.  I am just glad that we get to keep all of these GREAT teams another leg!

WHAT??!! No times??

Dr. Rox:
The last non-eliminated team(Mark and Michael) would have reached the pit stop no later than about 230pm to 3pm in Krasnoyarsk. All teams could have gotten on a train after a 24 hour pitstop for a 13 hour trip to Novosibirsk at any time from then until 1026pm but I am speculating now that the reason for the late departure was to allow leading teams to enjoy themselves aftere clarifying their train time/ticket information. Since they already had a 24 hour pit stop, that was not necessary.

Here's my rating of the teams, beginning with our first-place team:

Margie & Luke -- another first-place finish!  This team's doing awfully well so far!  Will definitely make the Final 4!

Tammy & Victor -- really shouldn't just use people only to dump them later.  However, only Cara & Jamie have room to complain since Margie & Luke used the Blind U-Turn.

Cara & Jamie -- much improved!  Now if only Cara had ran instead of walked, they'd have done a little better.  Still, great job!

Mel & Mike -- I'd have gone for the Russian Snowplow Detour, but Mel's age is probably why they went for Russian Bride.  Still, good job.

Mark & Michael -- pretty good but they're still near the back of the pack.

LaKisha & Jen -- from second to sixth!  Not good.  Of course, part of the reason is that they didn't do well with driving.

Christie & Jodi -- and from first to last!  Ouch.  I hope they last past the next leg -- I have them in Joab's game!
