Biography Cara Rosenthal (26); Jaime Edmondson (29) Hometown: Boca Raton, Fla./Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Occupation: Cara (Law Student); Jaime (Former Police Officer) Relationship: Former NFL Cheerleaders
Cara and Jaime met four years ago while trying out for the Miami Dolphins cheerleading squad. The two made an instant connection and have been friends ever since. Cara is planning to attend law school and Jaime is a former police officer.
Cara, a graduate of UCLA, is currently working for a non-profit fundraising organization benefiting individuals with mental disabilities. She prides herself upon being a loyal and devoted friend. Cara even deferred attending her first year of law school just to support Jaime's dream to run in this Race around the world. Cara is a true thespian who enjoys dancing and singing. She describes herself as compassionate, intelligent and outgoing.
Jaime comes from a family of police officers. Following in her mother and father's footsteps, she graduated from the police academy and donned the uniform for a few years. Jaime is an avid animal lover and volunteers at a non profit no kill shelter for dogs. She was also a cheerleader for the Miami Dolphins for six years and was chosen to represent the squad at the 2007 Pro Bowl. Jaime enjoys reading and traveling and describes herself as adventurous, passionate and witty. Cara's biggest pet peeve about Jaime is that she tends to be stubborn and a bit of a control freak, while Jaime claims that Cara is too nice and needs to stop worrying about keeping the peace. Both Jaime and Cara have a highly competitive nature and a need to win.

These two just scream Monica and Sheree at me. In spite of this, I think these girls could do well. Both look like they could hold their own fitness wise, and as a UCLA graduate, and a law school student, they definitely have the smarts to get where they need to go. I think this could be THE all-girl team that finally breaks the duck. Sadly, Lakisha and Jennifer just plain look like a better team than them, and that is the only reason why these girls wont win.

Gosh, we got to "meet" them just in the nick of time!! :lol: But instant LIKE!! They look like strong, smart women who will work well together, like how they relate to each other, and think their people skills, athleticism, and travel skills from the Dolphins will take them far. GO TEAM! :cheer:

I think they are a tough team that will have bad luck or some sort of early mishap from breaking to the front too early. But I hope they do better than the disappointing placing that I feel they will reach.

And you're talking about this season's cast! It's almost perfect! WHY?
1. There are no alpha-male teams. (we had enough of them winning the race) 2. There are no overflowing dating couples (TWO. There's only two!! And both teams look good and doesn't seem as dysfunctional as Ray/Deana or Jonathan/Victoria.) 3. This has to be the first time there's a father/son, mother/son, brother/sister, sisters and brothers altogether in the same race! Isn't that awesome? 4. The all-female teams doesn't look like Meredith/Maria, Lisa/Joni, Megan/Heidi, Kat/Pat that spells early elimination. 5. The old couple (Brad and Victoria) look better in shape than Teri and Ian and Fran and Barry, which means we're not going to just expect them to fall behind every leg.
5 perfect and good reasons for you to love this season cast, and probably this season as well. How could you even start hating them and not even feeling neutral? :(

Regarding number 4, I don't like that.
To me it almost feels as if they're stacking the deck towards the stronger F/F teams this season. Yes it's good to have DK types, but I don't want to see 3 separate all girl teams that look like they can win. It's like the producers are trying to cast Alpha-Female teams now.

Who can win and make the race so much more interesting. How many times have we already seen and expected random all-female teams to be eliminated first. The only surprise that came for soooooo many seasons was Charla and Mirna making final 3 in allstars, Lyn and Karlyn in the final 3 and Kami and Karli and Linda and Karen making F5 and F4. :res:

Jaime Edmondson worked at getting people fired up for six years as a Dolphin cheerleader. The experience came in handy when she had to talk a cheerleader colleague into helping her pursue a dream, which could pay off big for both of them.
Edmonson, 29, and Cara Rosenthal, 26, were chosen as one of the 11 teams to participate in the next edition of The Amazing Race, which premieres Feb. 15. "I've been a fan of the show and I always wanted to do it," Edmondson, who grew up in Fort Lauderdale , said.
She needed a partner and targeted Rosenthal (who is traveling in Europe and was unavailable for comment). "She is the most competitive person I know," Edmondson said. "I sent her a text message, 'Do you want to be on The Amazing Race with me? I think we can win.'"
This was not an idle boast. Edmondson put a lot of thought into the effort. "I didn't want to do this with a family member or significant other. Those teams always get involved in their own issues instead of concentrating on the competition."
Edmondson must be convincing. Rosenthal came on board even though it meant putting off life plans of her own. "Cara deferred law school on blind faith," Edmondson said. "I don't think I could have looked her in the face if we hadn't been chosen."
There were long periods of doubt. They made the mandatory tape at the home of Rosenthal's parents in Boca Raton, where both women now live. "Her parents were laughing at us," Edmondson said.
Weeks went by with no word. Then Rosenthal called. "You're going to get a phone call," she said. She had just gotten news that a talent scout liked their tape and was going to push them.
Weeks went by again. "I guess we didn't get picked," Edmondson thought. Then they were invited to final auditions in Los Angeles. More weeks of high anxiety followed.
Finally the call came Edmondson said seemed surreal. "We just want to let you know you're one of the teams."
They began to train without knowing what they were preparing for. "You can only do so much in South Florida," Edmondson said. "I figured we would be fine for the warm places but you can't prepare for cold here."
Little did they know one of the stops was going to be in Siberia.
No matter how much prepping they did, Edmondson said, there was no way to anticipate the physical, mental, social and emotional ordeals they would face. "It was the hardest thing I have ever done."
You'll have to watch to see whether it also was the most rewarding.
It's like the producers are trying to cast Alpha-Female teams now.
Solution: make one ALPHA season (alpha males, alpha females, alpha couples and alpha families) and one un-ALPHA season (no obvious alpha teams). Basically, try cast all teams to be in the same league.

I think I know what you mean. Sometimes you can just look at a team's picture and know their getting eliminated early. And I'm not talking about physical fitness either. Some teams just look like they won't last long, for no reason at all! :ascared

I hope we are wrong about them running a chance at being eliminated early because I think I may be in love... For the record, I would ask Cara to marry me tomorrow. She was so damn cute in that video! When you google her, you find that she's done a lot of the Dolphins community service work. There's an article on her teaching children dance/cheers at a school, helping with Hurricane Katrina victims, signing autographs for the military. Seems like she's all heart. We'll see how true that is in just a few weeks.

Ex-Dolphin Cheerleaders Join Cast of Amazing Race Cara Rosenthal and Jaime Edmondson, former Miami Dolphins cheerleaders who are one of 11 teams competing on the 14th installment of "The Amazing Race" on CBS. CBS
Cast members on "The Amazing Race" endure 40,000 miles, nine countries and some of the craziest challenges ever. 11 teams will compete this season, ranging from a father and son, to a pair of sibling lawyers, and two stuntmen who are 4-foot-9.
But only one team will win $1 million, can two former Dolphin cheerleaders do it?
"I definitely do think there's a stigma attached to cheerleaders," said Cara Rosenthal. "But I don't think Jamie or I went in with a chip because we know who we are and what it is to be a Miami Dolphins cheerleader."
Rosenthal spent three seasons cheering for the Dolphins. Jamie Edmundson spent six. Even though these two look alike, they are not sisters. But they make a great team and balance each other out.
"For me, I am focused on what I need to do and then I need to move on," said Edmundson. "Whereas Cara would say it would be so great if you could help us out with this. I needed someone to do that."
And make no mistake; these pretty ladies are tough. If they can handle some tumultuous times on the field and the Dolphins seven-year playoff drought, they can handle this.
"There's a certain power behind being positive and going out there and giving it your all no matter the circumstances you're faced with," said Rosenthal. "Was one harder than the other? I think they were both hard, they were all gut wrenching and heart breaking."
The girls are having a watch party at my colleague's restaurant in Davie, Kim Bokamper's. So all that's left is to sit back, relax, and watch the show.
"The Amazing Race" premieres Thursday, February 15th on CBS4.

All right, after weeks of contemplating, I've made my decision. I choose them as the team I'm rooting for. Don't know why, but I feel I always pick the dating couples. I picked siblings and it worked, so why not try 2 girls. They could be the red-haired version of Dustin and Kandice!

I love them! They're totally unapologetic about how they are (especially Jaime!), and despite the bad hand they were dealt in the form of not being able to find a taxi, they persevered and managed to stay in the race, landing in a fairly solid position! Seventh place isn't too shabby at all, though there's still a bit of room for improvement.

Do you think that their intro is suggesting that they are both going to be bitches or just Jaime? I keep watching it over and over again and I am confused by my beloved Cara's comment, "She's not lying.." Is she saying Jaime is not lying about not giving a crap or do you think that she is saying that she also does not give a crap? I was so proud of their 7th place finish and the fact that they passed all of the other F/F teams, but I have been bugged by this comment. Would Cara really tell the other teams they were doing a great job on the hill if she was a bitch?
I do not think Cara would come across as a bitch. She is too pure of heart. But, I have to admit that their intro is bothering me and making me wonder if I actually know Cara at all... Your thoughts?

I'm very surprised no one's turned on them after Jaime's recent freak-outs.
but tbh, her freak-outs don't compare to others in previous seasons
I kinda thought they'd liken her to Kendra, too, which is what I feared.
Well, at least Cara & Jaime hadn't had any dumb valley girl moments and aren't disgusted by the poverty, so tht's a triple plus for them. Kendra...actually the first time I saw S6 I saw from the middle onwards and I was OK with F&K winning, but when I saw the episodes in Africa I hated her...though Kris's unblondeness made me appreciate K&J more.

I just think people forget sometimes that the contestants are not some made up reality tv characters... that they are real people with real feelings you know? I adore Cara, and I think she's being hilariously passive aggressive in her interviews regarding Jaime's behavior. It's her responsibility to protect her working relationship with Jaime and to keep the team moving toward a million dollars. She's not there to protect the locals from her bitch of a partner (though I still do love Jaime). It's a competition, not a goodwill tour.

Actually, Michael, I hate to break this to you, but my understanding of what happened in San Francisco is a bit diffeerent than what was shown on TV. First, teams went by taxi to the Grateful Dead House in Haight Ashbury. Eric/Danielle got there first, found a clue and went to the Old Mint, arriving about 10 minutes before Dustin and Kandice. CBS showed D/K there first, but that is not so according to what I have read. Then Eric/Danielle improved their lead a little by their performance at the Old Mint. The bottom line is that Dustin/Kandice were about 10 minutes back arriving at the last task.

Her blow ups are minor compared to Flo's. Of course, Flo's are legendary.
I disagree, Flo is not an angry person like Jaime. Flo was spoiled and imature but she was never had pure hate like Jaime. Telling a cab driver "forget you" because he could not help them is pure hate. Jaime has some major anger and attitude issues.

Having met Jaime, I'm going to disagree with you, umass. I talked with her extensively on this and when you're in a stressful situation and trying to be in race mode, I can understand where she was coming from. She is really one of the nicer racers I have met.

Cara and Mark's wedding was just SOOOOO amazing and beautiful! I was totally awe for entire weekend! It was funny that Jaime got to give a toast to Cara and Mark - she went like, "You people! You all told Margie and Luke that you wanted them to win! What's wrong with Cara and me?!" it was so funny.
