In this thread, we should discuss about events that we're thankful that didn't happen in a TAR season, or things we hope that will never happen, or the worse things that could happen in a season. For example:
The Intersection in Family Edition
-
I'm thankful that Romber didn't win either race.
-
I am thankful that the luck of Andrew & Dan did not let them win the race :cmas19
-
I'm thankful Nate & Jen were Philiminated and didn't win!
Belle Book
-
I loved Jen & Nathan. Her death stares got me through the season.
-
Yeah, got to love the death stare. But I loved the episode they got eliminated on. And I loved the last moment with them as the show closed. Very personal for the show.
I wish that Ronald and Christina were eliminated earlier, though. Damn I hated Ron. I honestly think his behavior to an actual blood relative is the worst in the show's history.
But things that I am glad of, that none of the racers have been hurt overseas, That no serious accidents ahve ever happened (the truck rolling over is bad enough).
-
I'm glad that there was never a season where a team won every single leg (although Seasons 9 and 13 came way too close). I'm also glad that every season had at least one unpredictable elimination.
-
Season 9 was one of the more open ones as far as teams winning went.
Sure BJ and Tyler and Eric and Jeremy Controlled the race, but how many times have we seen Team Old win a leg?
-
I'd have to say the most open season by far was 4. 10 and 2 are the runners-up.
The least open season is 13, with 9 and 5 as the runners-up.
-
I'm thankful that The Amazing Race was not cancelled after the premiere episode, and am thankful that Phil Keoghan was cast at the host , can't imagine TAR without him, no way uh uh! Phil is the man!!
-
Let's analyze the open-ness of Seasons, shall we
Season | #1 Teams | Biggest streak | 2nd Biggest streak | Top of the Pack |
01 | 5 | 5 | 3* | Top 3 |
02 | 7 | 3** | 2 | One Hit Wonders |
03 | 5 | 4 | 3* | Top 3 |
04 | 9 | 4 | 2** | One Hit Wonders |
05 | 4 | 6 | 4 | Top 2 |
06 | 5 | 4* | 2 | Top 2 |
07 | 6 | 4 | 3 | Top 2 |
08 | 5 | 3* | 2* | Balanced |
09 | 4 | 5 | 4 | Top 2 |
10 | 6 | 4 | 2** | Alpha-team |
11 | 6 | 4 | 3* | Top 3 |
12 | 5 | 3** | 1* | Top 3 |
13 | 3 | 7 | 3 | Alpha-team |
* 2 teams tied for the record
** 3 teams tied for the record
Top of the Pack:
Alpha-Team: The whole race was mostly dominated by one team (not necessarily the winners)
Top 2/3: The race for first place was dominated mostly by 2/3 teams
Balanced: There was no obvious leader
One Hit Wonders: Too many teams came in first (mostly thanks to the FF) and there was no obvious leader

cfde88, I haven't seen your definitions for "Alpha Team" and "Top 3", but using my definitions of those I would put Rob/Brennan in AR1 into the Alpha team category. I would also like to see your definitions of One Hit Wonders.

I think I mislabled my table. I'll correct it to include my definitions.

I am thankful that Nick and Starr didn't win the race. :'( :groan:
-
Season 3 - Flo and Zach getting eliminated on the 2nd NEL at Final 5. Or else the season would have been boring and unpredictable. LMAO.
Season 6 - Jonathan and Victoria in the F3. T_T
Season 7 - Romber winning.
Season 8 - Weavers winning. :yess:
-
Eric & Jeremy winning. That would have been too bad.
-
BJ and Tyler winning was the worst thing to happen to TAR.
Eric and Jeremy were clearly the better team.
-
Eric and Jeremy were clearly the better team.
but they didn't have TTOW! :P
-
I disagree. Eric & Jeremy were very annoying. Did we need to hear, "We're recovering drug addicts," every passing moment? I'm glad they lost. I liked BJ & Tyler.

Weren't Tyler & James the drug addicts?
-
You could be right about that. I'm mixing up seasons. But Eric & Jeremy were still annoying in my book.
-
IMO they were just unmemorable except when seducing Danielle & Dani
-
Don't get me wrong, they don't make my All Stars, but they were my favourite team from Season 9.
-
TAR 9 was boring thanks to the 2 alpha all-male teams. Fran and Barry's surprise Oman win and the three-way footrace to the pitstop were the only exciting moments on the race. Although the moment Danielle and Dani getting Yielded wasn't too bad as well.
-
I hated Lake and Michelle after that.
They weren't second last, they were well clear of Ray and Yolanda (as evidenced by Double D's yield expiring before Ray and Yo got there.) They didn't need to use the Yield.
-
I'm glad that Russell & Cindy didn't last beyond Leg 3. But if they had, their bickering might have been the only exciting or interesting thing on that race.

I also disliked Russel and Cindy... They would have made the season a lot more interesting though...

Derek and Drew eliminated on leg 1 of TAR3.
Colin and Christie winning TAR5.
Charla and Mirna making it further on TAR5, she was really getting irritating you see..
Jonathan and Victoria eliminated and didn't go further.. on TAR6.
Rob and Amber or Ron and Kelly winning. Ray and Deana, Lynn and Alex, Susan and Patrick eliminated. Season 7 cast was horrible and Uchenna and Joyce winning and Meredith and Gretchen surprising us every leg was the only thing that made it watchable.
Weavers didn't win on TAR8.
Dustin and Kandice eliminated and not in the final 3 in TAR10.
David and Mary and Lyn and Karlyn not eliminated on the first leg of TAR10.
Charla and Mirna or Dustin and Kandice winning allstars. But Eric and Danielle was tasteless as well. The win should have gone to Chas or Uchenna/Joyce.
Ronald and Christina getting eliminated early in the race. Nathan and Jennifer NOT in the F4!!!
And for the final one..
Nick and Starr for winning every leg in TAR 13. :res:
-
TAR 1: Joe and Bill winning
TAR 5: Colin and Christie getting eliminated before the finale (sadly they still didn't win)
TAR 6: Jonathan and Victoria making it further
TAR 7: Romber winning
TAR 8: Linzes getting eliminated the first episode. I vividly recall how anxious I was during the footrace between them and the Black family! I really loved the Linzes. And also, thankfully the Weavers did not win.
TAR 9: Lake and Michelle making it further
TAR 11: Charla and Mirna winning, although I didn't like the Eric and Danielle win too
TAR 12: Azaria and Hendekea making it further, otherwise they could have dominated the season and made it boring. And of course, one of my favourite moments ever, so thankful that Nate and Jen didn't make the finale.
TAR 13: Dandrew winning but like TAR 11, I didn't like the Nick and Starr win either. Or more explicitly, I hated the finale.
-
Seasons 1 & 2: Didn't Watch
Season 3: Nothing (Everything I wanted to happen happened.)
Season 4: Nothing (Everything I didn't want to happen happened.)
Season 5: see Season 3
Season 6: Jonathan/Victoria getting further
Season 7: Rob/Amber winning, Ron/Kelly winning, Lynn/Alex surviving, Ray/Deana surviving
-->start of fantasy world (yes, I had a rough previous 6 seasons :funny:)<--
Season 8: Linzes winning
Season 9: BJ/Tyler winning
Season 10: Tyler/James winning
Season 11: Eric/Danielle winning
Season 12: TK/Rachel winning
Season 13: Nick/Starr winning

Godlewskis, MoJo, Fran and Barry, Oswald and Danny, Uchenna and Joyce, Lyn and Karlyn, Ronald and Christina, Toni and Dallas and Terence and Sarah all didn't win.
But i didn't mine TK and Rachel's win anyway, there are nice people i guess, just pretty boring. :funny:

I'm thankful that All-Stars season like this didn't happen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pk_-xfyGwcg&feature=channel
