I'll provide links to the NFL coverage maps so you'll know which areas are affected by possible overruns. Most of the country in the Eastern and Central time zones will be able to see the premiere on time at 8 p.m.

Heee....the good news is that peach isn't in Atlanta right now and if that list is correct, I may be safe for actually seeing the show.

The bad news is I can't remember if I programmed my Tivo for 13 or not.... :'(

Now what are my viewing options if I am the only one behind though? It is lonesome watching it without y'all!

Ken, I'm sure you can appreciate that having conflicting information(even though we are only talking 5 to 15 minutes on a usual Sunday afternoon) on times is not good. See that your statement that the San Siego/Oakland and Buffalo/St.Louis games are at 405pm (correct) contrasted with the listings that say it's 400pm (not correct). We are fortunate that tomorrow's late afternoon CBS games are scheduled to start as early as possible, since that will maximize the probability that 60 Minutes will start at 7pm EDT.

ap, ap, ap.

There certainly is a possibility that either or both games can finish by 7 p.m., but last week, the New Orleans-Denver game which started at 4:05 p.m. on Fox finished at 7:25 p.m. because of a high scoring game.

I have the NFL Sunday Ticket package on DirecTV and I can tell you none of the 4:05 p.m. ET games this season have ended on time.

Bump! :bump whats the deal Ken? Hows the Northeast looking?

A NFL runover on Sunday, 10/5 could delay start times for 60 Minutes (7pm ET), Amazing Race (8pm ET), Cold Case (9pm ET) and The Unit (10pm ET).

If so, you will receive a new message on Sunday with exact details of revised start times.

Thanks for registering for this CBS Eye-lert.

That can't be much fun for everyone in those places. I don't remember ever having an overrun (and I've been watching since TAR10).

Ok, it's not looking good.

Here is the map (http://www.the506.com/nflmaps/2008-05-CBS2.html) for the late games.

The entire eastern half of the country has either New England-San Francisco, Cincinnati-Dallas or Buffalo-Arizona.

We'll definitely have an NFL overrun since the late games start at 4:15 p.m. and CBS will start the primetime lineups for the entire Eastern and Central time zones together meaning if one game ends early, it'll switch to another game. The earliest 60 Minutes can start will be around 7:20 p.m. You can go from there.

I have CBS Eye-lert on my cell phone so once I get notice, I'll post TAR's start time here.

Do you live in the western half of the US? You don't have to worry if that's the case. TAR will start at its regular time for you.

Yeah. Keep quiet youknowwho!

By the way, Buffalo-Arizona was on pace to end early, but is now dragging along. Both New England-Niners and Cincinnati-Dallas are dragging a bit as the Bengals are keeping their game closer than expected.

The Dallas/Cincinnati coverage just ended so I would say TAR would be delayed about 30 mins now. (Yay Cowboys!)   At least for our area anyway...

This week is regional coverage for the CBS stations meaning just one game in your market. The lone 4:05 p.m. game is Jacksonville and Denver. It's still early and some stations will be switched depending if their local team does not sell out or other factors.

Right now, markets affected by the late game in the Eastern and Central time zones are:

Atlanta (Peach again!)
Chicago
Charlotte
Detroit
Jacksonville (naturally)
Lincoln, NE
Minneapolis
Orlando
St. Louis

I should have a station list coming up later in the week.

Those are the stangest maps I have ever seen. It essentially means that the only CBS games on Sunday Oct. 12 (formerly known as Columbus Day) are at 100pm except for the 405pm Jacksonville-Denver game going to s segment of the middle of the country. Only one CBS game at 405 to 415pm and not showing it to most of the country is pretty weird. It makes certain that there will not be any delay for 60 Minutes or Amazing Race except for the BLUE zone on the map.

I've been so busy with work, but I'm coming in to make this special guest appearance to give you the map (http://www.the506.com/nflmaps/2008-07-CBS2.html) for this week. CBS has the doubleheader and every market, every single one has a late game.

The country will be divided among three games. I'll just do the Eastern and Central time zones since they are affected by the delay.

The Northeast, South Florida, the border of Mississippi and Louisiana and parts of Arkansas get the Jets at Oakland.

All of Ohio, Western PA, Eastern KY, most if not all of West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, DC, Virginia, North Carolina and much of South Carolina will see Cleveland at Washington.

Then much of the Midwest, Great Plains states and most of the South gets Indianapolis at Green Bay. Since this is a national doubleheader, every CBS station in the Eastern and Central time zones will start together so if one game ends early, you'll be sent to the end of one of the other games until conclusion.

The earliest the Amazing Race can start is 8:20 p.m. However, with Indy and Green Bay facing off, that game could go very long and past 7:30 p.m.

All three games on CBS are close to finishing although the Jets have a chance to tie their game with Oakland meaning overtime. We'll continue to monitor. If the Jets fail to tie, then all games could end by 7:15 p.m. ET which is an extreme possibility.

CBS has two 4:05 p.m. games this week, shown regionally as Fox has the doubleheader. I have checked my usual source and we don't have a distribution map as of yet.

The games are my Cleveland Browns at Jacksonville and Cincinnati at Houston. Of course, those four markets may be affected by an NFL overrun. I hope to have a station list and distribution map in the next 24 hours.

ETA- A list I have received, but not quite accurate has the entire Northeast getting Cleveland at Jacksonville including all of New England, NY, PA (including Philly), Detroit, Dallas, northern Florida, wait for it, Peach .... Atlanta and of course, northern Ohio. Unlike a doubleheader week, the Cincinnati-Houston audience will not be sent to Cleveland-Jacksonville if it ends early or vice-versa. Because the list is not final, I will not post it here. Things could change depending on NFL blackout rules.

With no Sunday Night game because of the World Series, CBS gets an extra 4:05 p.m. game and I've noticed a lot of markets in the Eastern and Central time zones will get a late CBS game. As mentioned in my previous post, there will be no switching of games in case one finishes early.

This is the distribution map (http://www.the506.com/nflmaps/2008-08-CBS.html) for the CBS regional action. The areas in green and yellow are getting late games. The others are early.

Now here the markets getting late games:

Ken,
When I try to match up your list of stations against your general list for Cleveland/Jacksonville, the NY metro area, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Connecticut are conspicuously missing. Are you sure they will get that late game? All those areas will likely be receiving the Giants/Cowboys late game from FOX, so maybe they don't get the CBS late game too.
Title: Re: Ongoing Football alerts!!
Post by: TARAsia Fan on October 23, 2008, 11:28:03 AM
ap,

The New York area is getting the Kansas City-New York Jets game which is why when I saw a preliminary list earlier in the week for Cleveland-Jacksonville, I chose not to post it because it had originally included the New York area and all of New England. I knew New York could not get a second CBS game because of the Fox doubleheader and usually, CBS would not put a game against the Giants anyway.

Hartford, CT is also getting Chiefs-Jets as is Vermont.

Manchester, NH does not have a CBS affiliate and usually is provided the one out of Boston so that is why the market is not included on the list.

Check the map (http://www.the506.com/nflmaps/2008-08-CBS.html), ap.

And this is the list of stations in the Eastern and Central time zones scheduled to carry the game:

The Colts/Steelers CBS late game has just finished the first half, doing so in 88 minutes. With the second half starting at 6pm, this means it is barely possible that they would have the game done by 7:15pm.

Kansas City and San Diego is just about at the 2 minute warning.

Indianapolis and Pittsburgh are 3:30 from finishing. Still a ways to go. Both may finish before 7:15 p.m.

CBS went from the end of Colts/Steelers to the San Diego/Kansas City game with 0:51 left. That ust finished at 7:18, so you can expecet 60 Minutes to start at 7:22. You can thank the Chiefs coach  for a decision to go to the 2 point conversion when 1 point conversion would have tied the game at about 0:25.

For someone that likes to be spoiled I hate that someone might spoil the show before we get to see it, thats my only reason to despise the delays. Other than that and if it helps the ratings then I'm alright with it.

Tennessee at Jacksonville and San Diego at Pittsburgh are the 2 games, both scheduled to start at 4:15pm Sunday. It is highly likely that both will run past 7:00 and likely that at least one will go past 7:15.

I was devastated by the late start lsat Sunday. I watch and tape Amaing Race 13 but my Giants were playing simulataneously. Once it came time for Masterpiece Contemporary at 9pm, I could no longer tape the game and had to wait 23 minutes before I could resume watching it. My main point is that games should not be scheduled for 4:15; late games should start at 4:05(which may cause some affiliates doing consecutive NFL telecasts to miss the beginning of that game, but where is the greater good?).
Title: Re: Ongoing Football alerts!!
Post by: TARAsia Fan on November 11, 2008, 06:06:41 PM
You mentioned one reason why the NFL put the late games at 4:15 p.m. The other was that home markets would be taken away from the early game thus missing the end of the first game even if it was at a suspenseful end.

So the NFL decided to space the late games until 4:15 p.m. The ratings and ad revenue power for the NFL allow the league to schedule the late games when they want and because the networks want the eyeballs to set their primetime lineups, they comply. I'm hearing that the NFL is even thinking about starting the late games at 4:30 p.m. in the next TV contract.

If true they should rethink their schedule! Like make 60 Minutes "30 minutes". Yeah! that's the ticket!
:hides But should be grateful for whatever we get, as long as there is more TAR that is.

60 Minutes makes a lot of money for CBS. They'll never cut that from the schedule.

The CBS late games today are Jackonville vs. Tennessee and Pittsburgh vs. San Diego. The split of coverage is Jacksonville vs. Tennesee from Indianapolis down to south Florida and west to Texas except for the large area around Dallas, two small circles in western and eastern North Carolina, Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle, central Minnesota and northwest Nevada. The whole rest of the country gets Pittsburgh vs. San Diego.
Title: Re: Ongoing Football alerts!!

The Pittsburgh/San Diego football game is at the half after a 90 minute first half. My best guess on 60 Minutes start time right now is 720pm.

It's looking like an 8:20 or 8:30 start.  There's a fair enough chance that one of those games could go to overtime.  Either way, no way we're starting at 8 on the dot.

Jacksonville/Tennesee was over at 7:05. Pittsburgh/San Diego finished at 7:23 but now it is at 7:26.
I estimate 60 Minutes will start at 7:30but you never know how many consecutive commercials CBS wil try to do first. somktimes it takes 7 minutes from game finish to 60 Minutes

Saludos, my darlings!

One late game on CBS at 4:05 p.m. Fox has the doubleheader and 24: Redemption which is really going affect ratings on Sunday. Lots of good buzz on that, plus NBC has San Diego-Indy. I don't think that game will have the ratings of the last two weeks as Sunday Night Football had the higher rated NFC for games.

It appears puddin will be affected with a delay on Sunday while many of us will get TAR on time. Even Atlanta is free from delay as the Falcons play at 4:15 p.m. on Fox.

So here's the station listing for Oakland-Denver on Sunday.

Oakland @ Denver (4:05 p.m.)

WTEV      Jacksonville      FL

KTVT      Dallas      TX
KENS      San Antonio      TX

I am confused, no doubt due to my unfamiliarity with "new English". Ken and puddin, the word "buff" can mean any of the following:

Buff (color)
Buff (computer gaming), a temporary beneficial effect in some games
Buff (headgear)
Buff (superheroine), a Marvel Comics character
BUFF (Malmö Film Festival)
Buffing, the process of smoothing and polishing metals and alloys
Buff coat, a type of military clothing
Buff Bagwell, a professional wrestler
British Urban Film Festival
B-52 Stratofortress, a military aircraft
"In the buff," a phrase referring to nudity
"You look buff," a term of endearment complimenting a person who is perceived as 'attractive', usually by their appearance

The only one that reigsters with me is buff teh color. Which use of the word buff did you(plural) mean?

Keeping track of the football games, the Jets-Broncos game is running very late, dragging behind CBS' two other late games, the Steelers-Jets and KC-Oakland. We could have a very long delay.

I've checked my reference sources for next Sunday and as I mentioned, there are four games at 4:05 which means depending on the game, four different starting times for TAR so I highly suggest going over to CBS.com and signing up for the CBS Eye-lert to notify you either by e-mail or text message when the finale of TAR is going to start. Yes, this will affect us at TARCon as well because the New York Jets are playing in San Francisco next week. This is one giant mess.

Here are the games and preliminary station lists. By Thursday, these lists become locked in and there could be changes between now and then. I will post the final lists at that time.

I might as well give you the early CBS games so you can check to see if your station will be showing TAR at its regular time at 8 p.m.

Ken, I'm having trouble with the relevance of the CBS 1pm games. What matters for the start of the Amazing Race is the 405 or 415pm games on CBS. Here they are:

MIA @ BUF  4:05 PM
NE @ SEA   4:05 PM
KC @ DEN   4:05 PM
NYJ @ SF  4:05 PM

The maps for distribution of these games do not appear to be available yet, but I will make a guess that they will cover most of the country and the probability of a football delay is very high. For you, Peach and Chateau at TARCON XIII this might not be good news. For me, with a special service to sing at Sunday night, the latest possible start is fabulous.

I'm just stating those with 1 p.m. games don't have to worry about the late starting time and I posted the station lists because not everyone follows football like you and I, ap. Not everyone is aware what game is on their station so I figured for this one week, I would post the 1 p.m. games.

I'm going to have to set my DVR to run an hour after TAR is supposed to finish due to the Pats game.

Ok, the distribution map (http://the506.com/nflmaps/2008-14-CBS.html) is out for the CBS games and boy, is it pretty! Lots of colors and pastels!

Anyway, the lower part of the page has the colors for the 4:05 p.m. games. It's a good portion of the country. Check for your area.

One change thus far. The Lions will not sell out in Detroit meaning WWJ, the CBS affiliate in the Motor City has changed from Jets-49ers at 4:05 p.m. to Houston-Green Bay at 1 p.m. This means that Detroit will see TAR at its regular time and will not incur any delays.

I'll make that change in the station lists.

All four games are at halftime right now, so the delays might not be that long.
