You bet. When you are going from Florence to India, you are going to have one connection at a hub in Europe plus maybe one connection at Mumbai or Delhi if they are not the final destination. Also, a probable nonstop flight of about 4000 miles from the European hub to the Indian hub is involved, so this makes the airport activity absolutely critical.

Well its INDIA !! Goths try to screw Rachel/TK at the airport and Ron gets nasty -- again :cmas3
Oh dear! I was so hoping Ron had turned over a new leaf. Then again, it's getting down to the wire, so maybe stress is causing the nastiness.
As for the Goths -- can't blame them for trying to screw over another team. They're in last place, they've got a Speed Bump, and they're desperate! I must first wonder if the Goths will get away with it, then if they aren't able to recover from the Speed Bump even if they do get away with it, and last if this actually is the end for T.K. and Rachel despite the spoilers indicating that they might make it to Taiwan.

Yes, but Indian film posters flourish all over India. the only conclusion I can draw from the posters is that it looks like what you find in a large urban area, not like Jaisalmer or Kerala or Gujarat outside of its major cities. Bollywood is in the Mumbai metro area, but that's film production, not its distribution/marketing.

GMAN, you are absolutely right. We have got to start reading threads which have the answers to the questions we want to ask so we don't ask questions which have already been answered!

re: monsoons I have a list of rainfall for that week somewhere, but i was concentrating more on south
also call out to niece, but i think she is in gujarat with mother/sister-in-law at the moment and the village is incommunicado
looks like tasks are on Monday 23rd, so not so sure about the auspicious Tuesday hmmm (for the elephant task) but I think the Siddhivinayak temple is most likely

patlini, we really don't know for sure, but the odds are that Florence was a 12 hour pitstop but not 36 hours. That allows teams time to get to Florence International Airport and set up flight arrangements departing between 0650 and 0735 through Paris, Frankfurt, MIlan, Amsterdam or Vienna to get to Mumbai between 2310 and 2350.
On the weather charts you provided, the July 23 1130pm brief event was listed as "light drizzle". On July 24 the 530am brief event was also "light drizzle. That doesn't sound like a monsoon to me.
At 1130pm on July 23, I expect that teams would be near the completion of a 12 hour pitstop in the Mumbai metropolitan area, so even if there was a small amount of rain the effect on them would have been negligible. Most everyone in the Eastern and Central Time Zones will see Pittsburgh at Baltimore. The New York/Northern New Jersey area along with the Chiefs home region will get the insignificant Chiefs-Jets game. Expect to see TAR around 8:25 p.m. or so.

Thanks for the map of the games, I had been checking but hadn't tonight. Since the Ravens/Steelers time was changed, the tv guide was still showing the Raiders/Chargers!
I just want to say thanks to all the TAR detectives, everytime I see a commercial I can't imagine having to pick it apart :lol3:

It looks like whatever kind of shinagins the Goths are up to at the airport, they won't have much affect on the teams getting to Mumbai. Looks like all teams arrive in the middle of the night (which is the normal thing that happens when arriving in India from anywheres) and catch one of those minicabs somewhere and then we have a bunchup as they wait for "hours of operation to kick in" the next morning. This gives the five teams all day to complete the detour, roadblock, and speedbump (Goth's extra task) and then get ye to the olde pit stop on time.

This is off spoiler topic, but football related.
The FOX Dallas-Washington game will have little impact on Sunday evening's TAR episode. The game that will impact TAR viewership is the New England - NY Giants game that has an 8:15 pm kickoff. This game was slated for NFL Network, but because New England is chasing a perfect 16-0 regular season, the NFL is broadcasting the game on NFL, NBC and one other network (FOX or ABC).
I'm done ... how about more spoilers that will help my TAR game.

Well I would not agree with that, puddin. I was there for 3 weeks and travelled 8000 miles by train over much of India(it's vast, so it would take months to see it all). There is incredible poverty, with begging happening almost everywhere you will be going. However, there are many serenely beautiful places and there is an interesting culture so different from anywhere else on the globe. If you go to India, you will be entranced by the beautiful places and you have to brace yourself for the poverty and the congestion of the major cities. To get the beauty you have to live with the negatives. We get a little bit of the beauty on The Amazing Race, but what India has is really spectacular. It will not be found at Bollywood or in the markets of Delhi and most surely not in Kolkata and not in downtown Chennai. Try Agra, try Jaipur, try Udaipur, try Goa, try the temples south of Chennai, try the majesty of Varanasi. There are hundreds of places, not you won't typically find them in the metropolitan areas where World Race Productions has set the race courses.

I shouldn't have wrote the country is ugly, just certain areas apskips such as Mumbai. It's a shame that those once beautiful historic, majestic buildings have been forgotton. I guess, in my mind, I was hoping that we would see some place more exotic and was actually holding out for the Maldives, Jaisalmer, or Kerala to name a few.

Yeah, too bad the producers always use India as "the Cultural" Shock of their season (Or someplace like Thailand or Vietnam in other seasons), something to really put racers into uncomfortable places and see how they react and hold together.
And while I do like that, I think they could (or should) also show the beauty and the more reflective areas of said countries. Which they often do with Vietnam and Thailand, but not really India.

It's funny Michael I used the comparison this week in the recap, Kris & Jon with no racing skills.
And I have a bad feeling we are in for a long, long dry spell. Unless they start filming by the very part of February then at best a summer run, but most likely a fall run. And damn, thats a long ways a way.

Instead of Kris/Jon, they're the new Ray/Yolanda. Navigationally challenged, but good at the tasks and with a serious problem in roadblock division (Ray did skydiving (?) and bungee jumping (??) which left Yolanda to perform the final 3 roadblocks). After this leg he has one more roadblock left (I might do some roadblock analysis for this season).
As for the second stop in India, maybe it's half of the next leg - pit stop at Mumbai, fly to/take a train to Kerala (or wherever), do the RB, fly to Taiwan/Osaka, do the detour, go to pitstop (and nonelimination most likely).
GMAN, I think that's about it, though the detour and roadblock could be reversed.

I totally agree with what apskip said--it is a fascinating and beautiful country with such gorgeous people and places. But I do remember that it took me a few days to be able to be able to see past the poverty to the incredibleness of the people and the cultiure and the sights...

Great job puddin and Boingo getting what looks like the pitstop after weeks of work though.
Since TPTB said a "nail-biting" race to the finish line and all the teams seem bunched during the Roadblock--wonder if that is the last task?
And we still have nothing on the Speed-Bump?? I was hoping for some time shots to see when that comes....
I'm more nervous for the Goths--if there is that much bunching then throwing in another task will be nearly impossible to manage...

Without Chateau's insight and protractors we can only guess on the finish times in ep 7 which would translate into depart times for ep 8.
I will try to estimate times based on the changes in sunlight and shadows. There is a great change in sun direction, almost 90 degrees from the time that Don and Nick arrived and until the Goths arrive, so there is perhaps almost a six to eight hour time span in the arrivals. So my best guess is:
Don and Nick - 11:30AM
Nat and Jenn - 12:30PM
Ron and Chris - 1:00PM
TK and Rachel - 4:30PM
Kynt and Vyxzin - 5:30 - 6:00PM
So even the Goths should be able to make tdhe 0725 flight from FLO to AMS which would get them into BOM by 2350. But they might be smart and take the later flight at 0735 which would get them to MXP in time to catch the Alitalia flight to BOM which arrives at 2310.
Not matter when the teams arrive between 2310 and 2350, by the time the find the mini pedicab and get to the gas works the teams will all be bunched up for the night waiting for the "hours of operation" to kick in the next morning!
But just to throw everyone off, the teams may have to go to a ceremonial location first, and present a wedding gift of flowers to the groom before proceeding to the Roadblock.
CBS is playing dirty with us this week by throwing in extranious shots of fish, chinese temples, african art and other stu ff from other TARS and also shot of TK and Rachel running to the pit stop from ep 7. Sure doesn't help us poor detectives.

Not that i t matters because they will all get to India by 1 am on July 23rd.

I think you are right about the race not being for last place. Just providing an alternative. Also, CBS keeps mentioning Ron's hernia, so it has to come into play sometime.

This goes down as the biggest bungling by one person in one leg in history. First Kynt decides to U-Turn a team that was nowhere in sight instead of a team that they just saw. Then he forgot the cardinal rule of the Roadblock: READING YOUR DAMN CLUE. Gah. :pull

It wasn't like you posted it as gospel Chateau, gheesh some people just took it and ran amuk. Like last week mswood posted in the EP7 poll that Kynt & Vyxsin would be eliminated and again she was quoted somewhere else and again everyone just ran around like a chicken with its head cut off, you know? :duno: If it was posted in the actual spoiler thread then I can see them quoting someone but it wasn's so neener neener :pfft.

As soon as I saw that the frickin Speed Bump was to go to yogi's place I knew they were toast.
From GE I knew how far away that was from Colaba etc. and I thought the transport would be an hour and a half alone. I bet Jenn and Nate took 3 hours to find the clue in the newspaper. :lol3:

Not that i t matters because they will all get to India by 1 am on July 23rd.
This shot was taken between 7:23 and 8:07 am (assumes July 23rd).
So here is a shot of Don's watch that is actually readable. This was when they were on their way to the paste up place where Ron and Christina were already pasting.
The watch says 7:22 am, which agrees pretty well with the rather iffy shadow angle under the bridge.

Yahoo India is a little better than Google street-wise. The trouble is, a lot of addresses seem to include the building name as well as the street and district and mapping services don't know how to process that.

The Sulekha listing (http://yellowpages.sulekha.com/mumbai/clothing-accessories/tailors/juhu/chauhan-tailors.htm) probably refers to A.B. Nair Road, but they got the telephone number right, so I'll go with Juhu Church road, which puts his shop at the intersection mini-mall.

Did the racers drop their bags at a nice place for a change? The pitstop conf. matches the furnishings at the Marriott (http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/bomjw-jw-marriott-hotel-mumbai/) just a few blocks away from the tailor shop (the source photo (http://www.flickr.com/photos/66176073@N00/210891467/), labeled "Juhu Hotel," should not be confused with the 2-star Juhu Hotel a few doors down).
