Rumsiskes is an Open Air Museum with some re-creations of some traditional houses etc. This is where we see Boingo's windmill! :hearts:

Okay...I had asked Apskip to look at the possibility of Lithuania coming before Croatia earlier this week.
This is what he gave me in PM's:
Going to Vilnius from Paris and back has been researched by me already in Post #212 in the Locations thread. Here is a slight modification of what I put there:
July 17 CDG to VNO TG471 1050 1435
July 19 VNO FRA TE420 1130 1300 FRA ZAG OU141 1720 1840 (Note: if on 18th you could leave 1505 through VIE and get to DBV at same time)
ZAG DBV OU662 2100 2155
The huge problem we have matching up with the realities of Dubrovnik is that the spacing of teams is impossible to achieve coming from Vilnius. Teams would all be arriving together on the 2155 flight.
So yes they can get into Vilnius no prob---but the problem was at the entering Dubrovnik side.
Our source felt that TK/Rachel had come directly from the airport in Dubrovnik on July 19--and we were looking for a group of 3 flights that let the teams be separated into 3 groups. Tk/Rachel said that they had fallen out of the first teams when they missed a connection by 5 minutes...
So we had hoped to find a way to explain the first early group in Dubrovnik as well as the late arrival of Azaria/Hendekea. I t apparently isn't poosible to do that using apskips flights here.

We know that the blondes are the second part of this, but who is the first? Since they use "continues burning bridges", then it assumes that someone had already made enemies, which I haven't really seen much. It can't be the blondes and it can't be someone who hasn't started and maintained conflict with other teams (ie TK/Rachel or Nicholas/Donald). Granted, who would force another team out of an airline office? Nate/Jen? Az/Hend?

First bingo we don't know 100% that Croatia is the next leg but its looking like it might be.
Second, Rachel said that she and TK were in first the previous day but missed their flight into Dubrovnik by 5 minutes, so a bad flight or delayed flight could put a team back a few places or worse.
Third we don't know that JeNathan even make it to Croatia at all. Same could be argued for the blondes as well, we have to believe in the eyewitness that saw a F/F team in Croatia, its all we have.

The preview that we've already seen has the Blondes verbally fighting again. I'm pretty sure this is after one of them, most likely Shana, "force a fellow Racer out of an airline ticket office."
Jennifer, the wussier of the two, then whines about what her partner just did. "You should just think it out a little bit..." - said about what Shana does and.. "You're really flattering yourself right now"
Shana then replies with (toned down because the two of them were talking at the same time, with Jennifer being louder) "It's not about being nice...."

The clue says its a dating couple so we can rule out the sibling and the blondes, and add in TK and Rachel which sound more likely because of their whole "calm" edit

You would guess that it would ultimately be Nathan and Jennifer who erupt but it could be T.K and Rachel and Kynt and Vyxsin (Kynt and Vyxsin are highly unlikely)

Siblings are dancing at the Rumsiskes festival and the Goths might be running to the pitstop with gnome in hand but if the spoilers for Croatia hold true TK & Rachel should be first IF Croatia is next? Also there HAS to be a pitstop! I can't see Phil making a TBC with the teams running around with the Gnome. Remember the Goths don't care what place they come in as long as its not last. So it looks like its Donald & Nic that might have been bumped from the plane by another team -- Nic/ TK doing the RB? something in Nics hands a book and basket? running around Vilnius perhaps? and that shot of JeNathan hugging near the clue box is interesting.

Not every time. Season 9 for example was the 2nd part of a TBC leg where the Gnome was picked up, and Wanda & Desiree were eliminated.
But I wouldn't be surprised if you are right.

Because...
Teams arrive on 7/17. If they do all the tasks on 7/17>>Pitstop>>>depart 7/18......what then?? There is still a whole day before then turn up in Dubrov on 7/19.
We can't get commercial flights to get them in/out of Florence in time to be any use. Charters? maybe.
A stop in Split first....maybe.
But it just seems easier to keep them in Lithuania and send them to where we have a suspicion they may go (TRAKAI).
But if we have Detours and a Roadblock in Vilnius/Rumsiskes, then it would have to be some sort of TBC.
Right?
Or else they just have a 36 hour pitstop AGAIN.

After seeing these shots on a HD widescreen it looks to me as if in the first shot (shadow near the hedge) it is TK and Rachel as TK rips open the clue (cluebox not seen but must be near) Rachel is wearing redish top and gray sweats.
In second shot with her back to us it looks like a girl with red shorts. Could this be Jenny who has screwed up again and is being comforted by Nathan (he has black tee on). Or am I way off?
Second Q. in the two shots is the shadow increasing in length away from the building and hedge, or is it decreasing getting nearer the hedge and building.

I think that the two DETOUR choices would be:
MOUNT: -- Get up on stilts and walk the path, or
COUNT: -- Count the number of fence posts.
For the first we have Ron and Christina, for the second we see the Blondes in front of a rustic fence and Jennifer is holding the Gnome. Does this mean that they get the gnome after the fence counting or that they have won it or found it before the Detour?
Nicholas seems to be doing the ROADBLOCK. Perhaps finding a number of books in the University Library. But the odd thing is that in the first shots of him in the courtyard he is carrying a basket which he no longer has later on. Curious.

In the long sequence of Vidcaps puddin put together for us earlier in this thread, there are two shots of Nathan and Jennifer in a glass enclosed area. I think that this is the glass covered escalator found in CDG going from arrivals area (from BF) to the departure area for flight to Vilnius. There is another couple with backpack directly in front of them. IT is bright daylight also.

One team continues burning bridges and making enemies when they force a fellow Racer out of an airline ticket office, and another team is too busy butting heads to realize their car is on a collision course with a speeding bus.
Just speculation, but no one else had mentioned it as a possibility - could the burning bridges comment be relating to Ron and Christine? The blondes seem the obvious choice, but the wording of the sentence does make it seem like it is talking about another team. We know that Ron can be pretty outspoken, and he butted heads with Nic in an airport on an earlier leg, and the sisters seemed to have some issues with Christine also, so could they be quietly getting on the wrong side of people.

Have we finalized the timing? Does the flight from BF to CDG and then on to Vilnius and the DETOUR and the ROADBLOCK and the race to the pit stop and drive from here to there (playing dodgeball with local buses) all take place in one day? Sun does not set until around 9:45PM so there is a lot of daylight to play with. But it would be a looooonnnnnnggggg day.

I suppose whats bugging me the most is the fact that "we have a gnome!"! Would they really not have a pitstop? I mean lets say they are told to keep racing by Phil or are handed a clue that says keep racing --Do they have to lug the gnome around for 1 more leg?
Who recalls the gnome episodes? I only remember season 7, whats his face and Kelly won and it was a NEL but there was a pitstop, then season 9 but I don't remember who won the gnome prize but there was a pitstop "SANTA!" was there! and the mom & daughter were eliminated. So right there you have 2 pitstops involving the gnome.

What's really bugging me is that extra day (the 18th) and that we are having trouble getting us into Dubrovnik on the 19th.
The 18th could be as simple as a 36 hour Pitstop IF we can get us into Dubrovnik in a timely fashion.
If we can't do and explain that--then we have to figure out where they DO go. If Dubrovnik is impossible--then where? Italy? Trakai? Split? Or charter flights?

There was also a gnome in "all stars" in the Hong Kong Leg. Which Oswald and Danny won (imo) the most awesome pitstop prize ever. This was a NEL, but I had been told on good authority that it was meant to be an elimination. And IIRC they won because they got to the pit stop first.

Would be a first but it would be a chore since it does not look like it could fit into anyone's backpack. But we do not have any pix of any team with it so it probably means it gets left somewhere in Lithuania.

Hey serendipity :yaya:! We've narrowed it down to 6 teams in Croatia, as far as we can tell there was "maybe" a 7th team, but thats changed based on photos and such. I'd like to get the Croatia leg up soon -- theres SO much!

This morning in The Washington Post which locally is like a bible says the following about The Amazing Race:
"The Amazing Race finds one couple continuing to burn bridges while another couple has a close encounter with a speeding bus."
Which means to me that the la la Blondes are not the subject of both clues. Who is continuing to burn bridges; or who has burned bridges in the past and is now continuing to do so? Sounds to me like either Nathan and Jenny or Ronald and Christina.
And note that the clip says that the couple has a CLOSE call which means they don't actually get hit by the bus.

Sharkshooter, yeah it's complicated. I try to figure out what is the direction to the sun in the scene. If I can do that accurately and if I know how the scene is oriented with respect to north, south, east, and west then I can convert the direction to the sun into angles of Solar Azimuth and Solar Altitude. Then I compare one or both of those two angles to what would be expected for that particular day and that particular location on Earth. So I need to know where the and when the shot was taken.
Solar Altitude can give a time of day (actually, two possible times of day) without having to know the scene's orientation. For example, see Vyxsin's breast giving the time estimate for the Goth's arrival at the Detour in this leg (post #113).

can we figure out if that shot of kynt and vyxsin is them running to the pitstop, because if it is then that would rule out TBC since we know Nate and Jen are behind them thanks to chateau and TBC episodes always end with the first team checking into the fake pit stop

Well there is definity a cameraman chasing down some team behind Ron and it might be the blonds if not them then who? I guess really it could be JeNathan but I can't get a clear picture.
We think the Goths and TK/Rachel are at the Detour early on based on TK/Rachel being earlier than JeNathan and Chis/Ron at the cluebox near the 3 church's in Vilnius. Then we see probably the Siblings passing JeNathan at the detour, Nathan can't count! LOL --SO they switch detours and here comes Nic & Gramps --- Nathan looks like he got the stilts done but Jen is having a hard time. Can gramps & Nic really pass JeNathan? they have not even started the detour yet, whatever they choose?
Have JeNathan been there for hours at the detour? They would have to be to have Ron & Chris to pass them which is possible I guess.
We have a clue that the blonds get lost and therefore the "bus" etc
What if this happens? We know this is JeNathan --The clue says:

Peach, the shot of the Goths that I gave the time estimate for was taken when they arrive at the Detour.
I'm pretty sure about it. The road configuration matches in GE. If the shot included more view to the right (Vyxsin's left) we would see that Octagonal building that teams go past as they approach the location of the detour.
I think the Goths would look like this when they see all those crazy characters that are frolicking around.

The shot of Jenn on stilts is later than the shot of Ron on stilts. I see a shadow from either a tree or the tall stilt guy in both shots. The shadow runs up the roof the the house, In Jenn's case the shadow goes higher indicating that the sun is lower.

Could it be that they go to both Italy and Croatia? Sort of like in TAR 9 when they went from Sicily to Rome to Greece in one hour. It could be that they take a quick stop to Italy to do...something, I don't know (possibly a FF or just a route marker) and then go to Croatia for the Detour and RB.

I feel your pain. Usually by just the before aired clips of the season. I pick my top three. And since I have been doing it I have always had 2 make the final three.
This year, I am hoping to get one, my other 2 where Jason & Lorena (Boot), and Jennifer & Nathan (Boot).
Of course the upside to that is teams that I thought I would like, but gave no real chance at look to go far. Teams like Kynt & Vyxsin and Nicolas & Donald. Both (if not for early photo evidence), I would never think would make it even half way through he race.

The F/F question is a bit tricky. As y'all know, we have different 4 sets of photos from Croatia, and NONE of them show a F/F team.
However, our own source said early on (when her memory of events was the freshest) that she thought there was a F/F team and thought there may have been a blonde as well. It is important to remember that this is based on a quick look at the production sheet which showed the teams that had already gone past TK/Rachel--and it was the Goths and not the other teams that stuck in her memory. She also had the opportunity to see several teams later on--but all at a great distance and was unable to identify them individually. She and I have discussed this since then, and while she thinks there was a F/F team, she can't be 100% sure. She always said too that there were 6 teams, with a possibility of a seventh since she was never in one place where she could see ALL the teams at the same time. As we know now, she was correct on her original impression of SIX teams.
So the long answer is we DON'T know for sure. But she has been incredibly accurate about every single thing else she has told us--so I think it is reasonable to go with her initial recollection of what she saw and heard from hanging around production and TK/Rachel that day. And you know---even if she turns out to be wrong about this one thing, it will never lessen the incredible amount of information, descriptions, and photos she has shared with us. She literally spent not hours but days going over single detail with me of what she saw and heard and patiently answering my thousands of questions. She is solely responsible for our being able to share all the details of each Detour and the Roadblock with you all--right down to the exact locations and exact description of the tasks. So honestly--we all owe her our very best thanks for all she shared with us.

However, our own source said early on (when her memory of events was the freshest) that she thought there was a F/F team and thought there may have been a blonde as well. It is important to remember that this is based on a quick look at the production sheet which showed the teams that had already gone past TK/Rachel--and it was the Goths and not the other teams that stuck in her memory. She also had the opportunity to see several teams later on--but all at a great distance and was unable to identify them individually. She and I have discussed this since then, and while she thinks there was a F/F team, she can't be 100% sure. She always said too that there were 6 teams, with a possibility of a seventh since she was never in one place where she could see ALL the teams at the same time. As we know now, she was correct on her original impression of SIX teams.
So the long answer is we DON'T know for sure. But she has been incredibly accurate about every single thing else she has told us--so I think it is reasonable to go with her initial recollection of what she saw and heard from hanging around production and TK/Rachel that day. And you know---even if she turns out to be wrong about this one thing, it will never lessen the incredible amount of information, descriptions, and photos she has shared with us. She literally spent not hours but days going over single detail with me of what she saw and heard and patiently answering my thousands of questions. She is solely responsible for our being able to share all the details of each Detour and the Roadblock with you all--right down to the exact locations and exact description of the tasks. So honestly--we all owe her our very best thanks for all she shared with us.

Youre sorce (Elian right?) has done so much for the Croatia spoiling. I'm greatfull for all she's done. The hours of recolection thatr she spent, it is easy to make a sdmall mistake. It actually kept it intresting tonight. I'm willing to bet she remembered seeing Jennifer's blonde hair, and just thought 2 LA blondes. Her credibility is not at all leseened by tonight. OK, is Phil a big fat liar, or is it just me.
Phil states that Azaria & Hendekea were the first to arrive (last Pit Stop) at 6:45pm, and of course are the first to leave on this episode at 6:45am.
With arrival times last week of (If Phil isn't lying) of 6:45pm to 7:56pm. Not counting Lorena & Jason still.
But he has to be lying. The sunset for the 18th of July 2007 is 6:36pm. SO unless this was a long Pit Stop 30 plus hours (which we don't think (I hope). Then this Pit Stop was less tehn 12 hours. I would guess about 10.
Has that ever happened before?
Also for Pit Stop arrival this week the sunset for Vilnius is 9:42pm. So I would guess (and Chateau can be more specific) that Nic & Donald got there between 9:20 and 9:35pm.
Yeah I know I have the wrong dates, but the time difference shouldn't be more then 10 minutes.

Just guessing: Teams finished at the Hôtel de Ville between 3 and 6 pm on the 15th of July. So an ordinary 12-hour Pit Stop would release the teams between 3 and 6 am on the 16th of July. But Phil says they get released between 6:45 and 7:56 am. So I would call that a 14 hour Pit Stop. Why? Maybe wild animals would eat them in the darkness of 4 am just outside the gates of city hall. :cmaslol
Teams end up roaming around the city all day long until their 10:45 pm flight. Seams like an unnecessary delay to me. :cmas5

So the teams still left on the 16th, travelled from CDG to Vilnius on the 17th, and arrived on the 17th. So the extended pitstop must have been in Lithuania not Ouagadougou.

Having seen the Lithuania episode, I have a burning question:
What happened to the prizes for the Gnomes? Did CBS forget to award one? or did they just try to put another one over on us and forget to put it into the show for episode 5?
Does anybody have a clue or did I miss something?

I was disappointed after seeing the Lithuania episode again(to copy it onto my permanent tape of AR12) to confirm that there was no use whatever for the gnomes. They were just like the chickens - window dressing. In all previous races with gnomes, racers with a specially marked gnome won a very substantial prize. Tk and Rachel won their prize for finishing first, but it had nothing to do with their gnome. No other team's gnome was even examined.

Well, Nate, you've led a sheltered life in Orange County. While in college, I got to go the the Boston Area School of Driving(hint-not a real school but a style of diriving) that allows me to compete anywhere, anytime if I still had full vision. I elected not to drive anywhere near the Arc de Triomphe in Paris(seeing it on foot) or anywhere in Rome(am I crazy?; I guess that's been answered previously). What a treat Nate has waiting for him in any major Indian city!
