Boingo, why is 11 teams to start magic? I can make an argument for 13 teams as more likely and even more than that is possible.

And while we know no NEL's---TBC's are still possible I think?

I'm thinking they may want to stretch this out a little...

ummm....7 of the last 11 races had 11 teams...3 had more, 1 had less.....odds say 11 teams.....   :knuckles:

Any more than 12 and it's too confusing....but BVM could drag it out into 2008 with some TBC episodes....    :groan:

...we'll see in about 2 weeks....

Despite 11 episodes/legs, and still 11 teams, with Survivor's finale, I can't picture TAR ending before 2008 either.

With so much to cover in ep one in one hour, I think there is a strong possibility of the Ireland leg to be a TBC so that the first Philimination would not be until ep two, Nov. 11.

Title: Re: Schedule
Post by: apskip on October 25, 2007, 07:20:35 AM
GMAN, it does sound plausible. However, if you examine the entire range of possibilities, it is more likely that the one TBC with 12 stops will occur at the end of the Alaska leg so that it in effect goes right into the final leg as has been done in many 2 hour finales in the past. Neither is probable given the entire range of other possibilties(any of the other 10 legs) at this point.

I mentioned this on the TAR talk thread, probably should have put it here in scheduling.

The Nascar might not compete with TAR, but the 11/4 Sunday Night Football matchup between Cowboys/Eagles (on NBC @ 8 eastern) will comete big time with TAR.  Pity to have that game against TAR for it's debut.  The next game is far less attractive.

And regarding DVR/Tivo/VCR - in addition to the CBS afternoon football games possibly messing with your recording plans....keep in mind the time change (that weekend).  I assume DVR's change themselves, but VCR's don't.....so everyone double check since Sunday is "fall-back" day.

This article (http://www.realitytvworld.com/news/the-amazing-race-producer-upcoming-twelfth-edition-is-nail-biter-6023.php) says it's an 11 ep run.

The Super Bowl airs on Feb. 3/2008, so the latest it can air is probably Jan 27th.   If CBS is airing a playoff game on the 20th, that will be to TAR's benefit.

and my CBS eye-alert has already warned me twice about possible delays for tomorrow night...

Mine clock has been changed since Saturday morning!  Otherwise, I'd probably forget!!
---------------
So TAR has three time conflicts on different Sundays?  Football, Nascar plus the Survivor Finale?  Geezo, that sucks.  But those of you who have Tivos are in luck, right?

I don't think the Survivor finale will be on the same Sunday as TAR.  Survivor will probably pre-empt other Sunday programs and be a two-hour finale and one-hour reunion show to take up the full three hours.

I want to talk about the AR12 schedule and the best place to start is on the date of the AFC AND NFC playoff games on Jan. 20. Since the first game typically starts at 3pm and the second one at 630pm and isn't over until 10pm, that would be a terrible time to schedule the TAR12 FINALE whether the second game was on CBS or FOX.

With 11 legs going straight through, AR12 would finish on Jan. 13 and avoid that problem. However, puddin's and other people's beloved Survivor has to be considered on Dec. 16. How is that going to happen? I don't know; it's not my problem, but if it were I would not allow a Survivor Reunion to displace AR12 and the Survivor two-part Finale would start after the Amazing Race that night. If my suggestion is not adopted, I can't see CBS giving away viewers and ratings to a Championship game if it's on FOX the evening of Jan. 20. Jan. 27 is an open date for football between the Championship Games and the Super Bowl. To have a one week break in AR12 is not unprecedented, but it would not be a good idea.

And there is the RECAP show to count as well--and puddin just confirmed that here:

http://forum.realityfanforum.com/index.php/topic,13909.msg237346.html#msg237346

But I do think the Survivor schedule has been announced already? And with the reunion it is 3 hours? I would have to look to be sure but I think that is right...

OK, that settles that part. The question of whether AR12 would be shown at 7pm or after football on Dec. 16, bumping 60 Minutes, is then the next possibility. I consider that unlikely.
Title: Re: TAR12 TV Schedule~Listings
Post by: puddin on November 05, 2007, 10:14:02 PM
Well if you go by the futoncritic, in the first post here, there are no listings for TAR12 on the 16th and they have been accurate in the past.

I tend to agree that they won't run the finale against the Super Bowl. But they could  do a 2 hour episode or even a special night episode to catch up if they end up skipping another ep during the holidays. I'm going to hope for the 27th though!

OK, let's count up the one hour episodes:

Nov. 4
Nov. 11
Nov. 18
Nov. 25
Dec. 2
Dec. 9
Dec. 23
Dec. 30 (thanks Gman)
Jan. 4
Jan. 13
Jan. 20

That's 11 episodes, so I guess I was somehow miscounting earlier. It looks like the vaunted futoncritic is likely to be right.

TPorter reported this at TARflies:

My CBS friend told me that TAR will be pre-empted on 12/16 for the Survivor finale and that it may possbily get moved aside at some point in January for prime time football playoffs. They think 1/27 is likely for the finale, because 2/3 is the Super Bowl. FWIW.

Do you think a January move due to football is likely??
Title: Re: TAR12 TV Schedule~Listings
Post by: TARAsia Fan on November 28, 2007, 10:17:17 AM
Yeah because CBS usually runs a 60 Minutes special opposite the Super Bowl and then runs repeats until 10 p.m.

Running a January finale makes total sense.

Do you think a January move due to football is likely??

heres my guess for the afc playoffs on cbs.
sunday january 7th cbs should have the late game because fox last year had the late game
sunday january 14th cbs should have the early game because they have the sat night game this year on the 13th
sunday january 21 cbs should have the early game because they had the late game last year for the afc title game. it usually switches off year to year.

so a move is possible

MARK YOUR CALENDARS – The finale date for Amazing Race 12 has been confirmed for Sunday, January 20th and we are working on the details now for another fun evening of sharing our passion for The Amazing Race with other fans and former racers.  The party will be held in the beautiful private showroom at Dave & Buster’s in Orange where we will be able to watch the finale on the giant 12 foot screen and cheer on our favorite team.

The website (www.westcoasttarfinale.com) will be updated shortly so be sure to look for the Early Bird specials to get a great deal on an evening with some of your favorite (and maybe not so favorite) Amazing Race racers and the fans that love them (or love to hate them)!

We are also excited to announce that Chip McAllister (TAR5 Winner) has agreed to return as our incredible Master of Ceremonies which will definitely make it a night to remember.

In case you missed the fun from last season, check out the pictures on our website here:  Amazing Race All Stars - Orange County Finale Party Pictures.

Hope to see you on January 20th!

P.S.  For those that may need hotel accommodations, the Doubletree Hotel Anaheim/Orange County is in the same complex as Dave & Buster’s at 100 The City Drive, Orange, California.  Their phone number is 714-634-4500 or you can make reservations online at www.doubletree.com.   We have not reserved a group rate for this season’s event because their Internet rates are actually cheaper than the group rate that was offered.

The NFL playoff schedule is now out.

The thing we are concerned with next Sunday, CBS has the late game, Tennessee or my Browns at San Diego at 4:30 p.m. Sunday. I don't think the game will end on time so the TAR start time will most likely be around 8:45 p.m.

Do not be misled into thinking that those start times are solid for the Eastern Time Zone. The Tennessee vs. San Diego playoff game does not start until 430pm. What is the probability it will be over by 730pm? About 35% in my judgment. You should program your TIVOs to start at 830pm but also program Cold Case following to cover the probable late start by making sure that you get the ending.

My NFL sources tell me the kickoff is slated for 4:40 p.m. Three hours make 7:40 p.m. If the game is close, then it will not end until 7:45 p.m. at the earliest. Keep an eye out for your CBS Eye-lerts.

The last eliminated racers have told us in the past that they perform tasks, makes you wonder why they were never spotted doing so? I'm not talking about seeing teams near the finish line i.e. Dustin/Kandice & the Cho's running through the streets of NYC etc, I'm talking about actual tasks.

in all seriousness is it possible that TV guide just made a mistake?

I was thinking that TV Guide made a mistake but do you think there is a possibility that there is a TBC? Hasn't there always been one. Ok I don't wanna get into trouble if you guys have already been through this, just throwing it out there.  :groan:

quote from Phil EP1
Phil "now, there are 11 legs in this race, at the end of each leg of the race there is a pitstop. 8 of these pitstops are elimination points,  so you need to get to them as fast as you can because if your last you WILL be eliminated .." ---" the first team to cross the finish line after 11 legs will win 1 million $$"
And now we know there is one more non-elim, thanks to Phil.
So that leaves us with 3 more episodes and 4 remaining teams with 7 already eliminated, we have 1 more non-elim, and 1 more team has to be eliminated to make 8 eliminations whether it be EP9 or EP10 to take us down to the final 3, so no time is left for the so called TBC/Superleg.

puddin, I disagree with your concept. The interpretation of Phil's statement at the beginning of AR12 was that BECAUSE THERE WERE NO NELs as stated by Littman and van Munster both of the non-specified leegs would ahve to be TBCs. We know that they lied, so in my view the last leg not inovlving an elimination or the finale will be EITHER a TBC or NEL. There is nothing in Phil's statement that said they have to be NELs. I think it's a tossup as to which it will be.

I just checked the first episode and Phil says

"Now there are 11 legs in this race...at the end of each leg of the race there is a pitstop...eight of these pitstops are elimination points."

To me that means:

11 legs

8 elimination legs

2 NELs

and the finale.

No TBC

edit:

I say no TBC because we 100% know that there is one more NEL.

I'm not sure what your saying apskips? Sure we didn't know there would be any NEL's because of the Littman & BVM lies but when it did happen and The Goths were saved by what Phil said was "the first of 2 NEL's legs" did he lie too?

Well peach, my guess is that it's a TV guide mistake because futon critic doesn't say anything and I thought I read that CBS confirmed the finale for Jan 20th?

The NFL has issued the playoff schedule for next weekend. The Saturday games do not concern us. The Sunday games are CBS at 1pm(Indianapolis vs. either Titans or Chargers)  and FOX at 4pm(Giants vs. Dallas). There will be no delay for AR12 on Jan. 13.

KUTV in Salt Lake City issued this:

Quote
Program Note: Sunday's Amazing Race Re-Airs Early Tuesday Morning

Last Update: 11:52 am

If you happened to miss the ending to Sunday night’s episode of the Amazing Race, set your recorders.

CBS will re-air the episode at 2:39 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Technical difficulties at the network level cut short the last 15 minutes of the Amazing Race Sunday night.

There was a problem with the analog signal and the transmission was lost.

KUTV apologizes for the inconvenience.

We appreciate your understanding in this matter and thank you for watching.

Any word if that is for ALL of us--that would be great  if they do that and advertise it!!

It's probably just the local area getting the replay peachs. When our local stations antenna went down in the ice storm they re-broadcasted the Survivor finale a few nights later at 12:30am or something.

CBS has to give the locals permission in case of weather problems like the one puddin described. Nine times out of ten, the network will allow a one time and one time only special re-airing and it will be on the local station, not the national network.

Title: Re: TAR12 TV Schedule~*now with football*

Actually, there are two college basketball games that CBS will air at 4:30 p.m., Stanford-Oregon and Illinois-Indiana. In an extreme case, one game could go into overtime and extend into the 7 p.m. hour, but I really doubt it will happen. But just in case, CBS has the Eye-lert ready. Both games should be over by the 7 p.m. hour and even if one or both games went past their expected 6:30 p.m. end times, CBS would not allow the news to go past 7 p.m.

In other words, don't worry about it unless you get a text message.  ;D ;D
