*The Amazing Race was filming while we were there in Dubrovnik!! We saw some camera men, but no teams.
*We were really excited anyway. We also talked to some people from England who didn't know what the show was, but told us they had seen two couples in row boats being videotaped.
*They weren't sure, but thought one couple (team) seemed to be doing well and the other (who they thought was male-female) was having a lot of difficulty.

Ok now some NEWS for A Race!! Yah...I actually have something to contribute....
Suppossedly Yao Man was contacted by ARace to participate with his daughter (the older one) in the next ARace (which will be a family edition - but only with two people teams - think sisters/brothers and parent/older son and daughter groups)
However, the daughter chickened out at the last second and since the younger daughter wasn't old enough (16) for this season they turned Lynn down. (Lynn, "I turn people down Yao...they don't turn me down...")
But...that is the info I have thus far...we shall see if it holds true!!

You have to be 21 to do the race normally and we have no info that suggests that has been adjusted for this season.
I believe his younger daughter was too young--maybe 16? and the older daughter turned it down. :groan:

I like the idea.
No offense to Tammy and any other racers in season 8.
Since I genereally liked the cast in season 8, the only problem I had with the casting was that I had a great difficulty in getting a sense of who people were in many cases with 4 persons on each team. Thats not the racers fault, though.
Hell to this day, and with them being in every episode, I still can't tell who's who in Wally's family.
Though I wouldn't rule out families that fight. Since there are many families who honestly don't get along well, to those who argue a lot even if they do love each other.

You can still have funny brother teams like Ken and Gerard types who act like they could be best friends.
I hope they have a grandparent/grandchild team that would be fun to watch.

So looks like teams with some family relationship. That still gives plenty of room for plenty of very intense drama. As mswood said, families can love/argue even more than friends. Wonder if step parent/child would be considered.
And they were willing to pull a team with roots in Survivor--so BB would seem possible too. Does Janelle or Will or Boogie have a sibling that would be possible?
Now we need the starting line! :yess:

Yeah, you can have a wide range of family groups and how they might fit the more typical seasons "Type of team".
And over the years we have had some very memerable two person family teams. THough I personally would rather see relationsships like Parent/Child, Brothers and sisters (any combinations), for the most part over cousins and such. But thats probably more due to my own family experience where we are not the close with the larger extended family (due to distance).

Don't get me wrong, I like teams that are related to each other, but completely excluding everyone else is stupid. Colin/Christie, Tara/Wil, Teri/Ian, these were among the most memorable teams ever. Now there is no chance of seeing someone like that in TAR12.

Peach, please do not degrade the Amazing Race by supporting teams composed of any Big Brother contestants. Wasn't Alison and Donnie more than enough for one eon? It certainly was for me and I do not expect than any Reality Show retreads would be any better. We have already been forced to suffer too much. The casting people for Amazing Race should have to find fresh new faces, not overpublicized ones.

I think you know that I have said for years that I only want fresh faces on my beloved TAR--no celebrities, no BB, no Survivor, no Rosie--only new, fun. interesting ordinary people getting to experience an extraordinary opportunity.
But TPTB don't seem to be listening to what I want. If they are willing to take a Survivor contestant again, then they may be willing to take a former BB contestant. We all need to keep an open mind in order to be able to find possible contestants effectively.

About the next season being a family edition might not be true... I mean season 8 didnt have the best ratings. and season 12 is basically the season to try to save the race ( In my eyes probley for other people two) so why have a fam. ed.? Teams like the Gaghan family, TAR8, were fun to watch so maybe they want to let younger people into the race. but not to young that the younger ppl would hold the team back

Welcome Kiwi Jay and again there is no way to be 100% certain that Nathan & Jennifer are indeed in the race its a guess based on what was posted above and there is no photo evidence or sighting of them as far as I can tell in Croatia or anywhere else. They have both made their myspaces private since we speculated they might be a team .. someone tipped them off ? A rat? lol

Thanks! I don't think there has been any conformation on Kynt and Vyxin, but those 2 did stand out to a couple people, so I would say its safe to assume they are on. I can only imagine the looks they get from other contestants and the forigners. It's not eveyday you see a girl waring a huge pink wig.

At every destination, each couple will have to compete in a series of challenges - some mental and some physical - and only when the tasks have been completed will they learn their next destination. Couples who are farthest behind will gradually be eliminated as the contest progresses, with the first team to arrive at the final destination winning $1 million.

I agree with Slowhatch. Who did the casting for this race? Why didn't they look for teams outside Southern California? 6 out of 11 teams from Southern California is ridiculous!
I am going to make a prediction based solely on reading the bios. The first 5 teams eliminated from AR12 will include:
the brother/sister team
the father/daughter team
the married ministers (they do not remind me of Meredith and Gretchen or Fran and Barry)
the sister/sister team
one other team from Southern California
If this happens, you know which teams are left in the race, probably going into Dubrovnik?
Grandfather/Grandson
Kynt/Vyxsin
5 of the 6 Southern California teams

I agree with APSkip - who did this casting .....
though as long as their interesting I don't really mind where they're from.
Definitely looking forward to the goths, especially after a night in an airport or on a floor somewhere. Imagine the makeup.

I agree, as long as the teams are interesting they could all be from the same town.
I do wonder if this was part of a budget cut though. That they didn't go outside the so cal area for casting sessions and just relied on tapes sent in.
That would save a little money (though not much).
