The TARcon festivities kicked off tonight with Kevin's Comedy Club routine at Don't tell Momma. He did a great job and was super funny.
And in the audience was Lenny from season one, Brenda from season one...
And Jill! from season 3, Ian (sans Teri) and Tom and Terry.
And then what to our wondering eyes did appear... :happy:
David and Mary, Charla (sans Mirna), and Eric with a charming blonde who *ahem* was not Danielle.
And now Michael--are you sitting down? Take a deep breath!
There happened to be these two lovely blonde ladies there who are even more beautiful in person than we see on the race.
And a certain RFF poster just happened to mention to them about a certain fan who kept their love threads alive...
And Michael---THEY KNOW WHO YOU ARE! QUOTE: "DO YOU MEAN KING MICHAEL?" :hearts: :happy: :hearts:
So a little BQ love is coming your way! :kissy:

Peach, you sound like you are having a great time. Being that I'm a night worker I should be asleep all day. I have changed my plans and will get up mid afternoon instead of early evening. I want to catch your postings and be in on the action. I'm so glad you got to meet the Beauty Queens. I think they are great. I am so excited I may have trouble getting to sleep in the morning. This is my 1st year involved with the spoilers and it's been absolutely great because of all of you RFFers.
PS: I'm old enough to be Michael's grandma.

Michael D, your eyes are not too sharp. You missed Teri, Ian, Steve and Carissa Gaghan. Unfortunately, the tag says it is happening at Puglia, which is not Stitch. I saw Teri and Ian leav just before I did at 2305, so this dancing is at another site. You will probably not see PEACH at Puglia since she was waiting to see Phil and Bertran van Munster at Stitch, where they were expected late.

I got to the line outside Stitch at 1750 and immedaitely spotted Chateau and Peach in the $75, 3 hour line which was queued up and waiting to go in at 1800. I became the beginning of the $50, 2 hour line which formed behind me. It was all very well organized by Miss Donna of TWOP. Peach and Chateau had reserved me really excellent space at their table on the upper level. When 1900 rolled around in I went and found it. My next step was to get 2 nonalcoholic drinks (Stitch really made terrific profit on me) and to look for the food. There wasn't any! I had misinformed myself and you had to order and pay for food a la carte. The first hour and a half there was some discussion between Chateau, Peach and I and I showed them my Australia postcards and photo of the croc and me(the best photo of me in the past 5 years according to my wife). Peach presented me with a special gift to be used later in case two blondes came within my range(they did!). At 1930 I went looking for Miss Alli. Peach told me where to find her and I did right there holding court. She stated that she is now a full-time employee of TWOP and does no legal work anymore. Peach came by with her camera and took one of me behind Miss Alli. I bet it will turn up on RFF sometime soon. Someone took a photo of Peach, Chateau and me and our table.
At 2000, I had just gotten two more drinks(my last for the evening) and made it back to the table when Episode 13 started. The noise level was deafening. This was a huge Dustin/Kandice crowd, cheering them and booing Eric/Danielle and Charla/Mirna. This continued right up to the finish line. There was palpable disappoiontment in the final result.
Around 2030 the first former racers started arriving. Also, a camera/sound/interviewer crew set up between the bar and our table. It was for Kennedy's Fox Reality show tomorrow night at 730pm. The first former racer to reach near me was Carissa Gaghan, who sat at the next table. I went and introduced myself. Next was a clone of her who is her younger by 20 months sister, who was not a racer but is a Gaghan. Then Bill and Joe showed up downstairs. I introduced myself to Bill and told him about the question in this morning's TAR quiz. He stated without hesitation that it was at Scotty Lake Alaska where they got the notice of AR1 being over. I later shook hands with Joe and told him that I admired his shirt (colored bright orange similiar to mine but with a Guido logo on it). They went upstairs and were the first interviewees on camera. Soon thereafter, the other Gaghans showed up near out table. I introduced myself to Tammy, Bill and Billy and asked them to autograph my business card. I later was sitting next to Carissa at my table and had her autograph it also. Next up was former racer Steve the ATC guy and AR1 Drew (Kevin was not there to the best of my knowledge). I said hi, shook their hands and tried a little small talk. Teri and her son came into the area right next to our table, so I introduced myself to them. The highlight of the evening was next when the Beauty Queens came for an on-camera interview. I positioned myself next to them and used Peach's present, a framed photo of them, to obtain their autograph. A little later I told Dustin how they had missed out on the strong pro-Dustin/Kandice sentiment of the crowd. Ian was in the vicinity and I said hi to him. Next was Charla, who I saw at the bottom of the stairs. I expected her to come up, but she didn't. I later caught her and told her that I thought she was a classy racer. Mirna was there and I was inches from her, but I did not want to introduce myself. She is much shorter than I expected, probably about 5'0". Eric arrived upstairs for his on-camera interview but they had technical problems, so I chatted with him briefly. He had a babe on his arm. Later, after I had briefly met and congratulated her, Danielle joined him for the interview. On my way out, I talked briefly to Mary. She said David was around near the front. I looked for him but found Peach instead. She set up a brief discussion with Big Papi and took our picture, which I believe you will see soon. Big Papi stated for publication that Eric had asked World Race Productions to cast him again with Danielle(who was then his girlfriend) immediately after his AR9 second place finish. The genesis of the AR11 team was at that point even though Eric and Danielle's relationship did diminish. I missed out on talking to former racer Ray and with Jill, who were in a heated conversation. John Vito reportedly had been around. That's the was it was. The density of racers was incredible. The only ones not there were Uchenna/Joyce, Rob/Amber, Oswald/Danny, and Kevin.
Many thanks to Peach and to Chateau for their selection of the most strategic table in the entire restaurant. It was great to meet them and Big Papi in person.

I know there is still lots more to say and share about the TARcon experience, but due to severe sleep deprivation it may take me a little while to figure it out...
I did ask the racers a gazillion questions and as I remember the answers about different legs/tasks/flights I'll add that in over in Spoilers.
But I would be seriously amiss if I waited another minute to thank the TARcon MEN of RFF for making this such a special experience. :yourock:
Chateau--for your repeat performance of locking down the best table in the house after holding down the fort in line, for the totally adorable BQ pins, for the great company at the show, DimSum, and on the harbour cruise. And of course, for keeping us all straight on Chateautime all season long!
Apskip--first for coming so we could get to know you, then for bringing all the gorgeous Australia info to share with us (I still want to see the rest!) and for reminding me about the BigPapi pics, and in advance for the video. And of course for all your invaluable flight information this season!
BigPapi--for letting us share in your moment of celebration, and for letting us see the pride you have in your son, and always, for making me laugh!
And for Eric--(an RFF-er by proxy now)--thank you again for your kindness in helping me with Michael's project at Kevin's comedy gig, for finding your Dad for me, and for posing for sixty million pictures so cheerfully!

For a bit...he did recognize me from Tarcon :wohoo: and no matter where you are in the line, he will see EVERYONE. At the one here, he eventually had to leave the table and do the rest of the signing standing up and worked the line. So it did run about 30 minutes late, but he will get to you if you show up at the end of the line (I think that may be more to your advantage if you do go.)

I was standing next to Peach when Phil signed it using her back. She did get a kick out of it. And all of the racers I saw sign it seemed thrilled to do it. Cool idea, peach! Congrats, Michael!

I believe the correct wording is "swooning inwardly."
I gave one of the chocolates I added to the Tarflies goodie bag to Peach so she can send it to you as well Michael. Not sure if it made it in one piece.

You're gonna be jealous but just imagine that the hugs I got from D/K when I walked up to them and they saw the Pirates jersey were meant for you :angel: . They cracked up and then I told them I was Eric's dad and I got an even bigger hug from them. When they pulled out the patches we asked them to pose with Eric for pics and after a couple of pics were taken I handed PUDDIN'S Pirate Jersey to Eric and we shot the other pics.

haha - Eric going out of his way to make it clear that he was joking about the pirate hooker thing makes Mirna's attempt to make it serious even more hilarious. I'm glad the teams get along after the race is over :D
He's not "going out of his way" per se. Eric made it quite clear from the very beginning that the comment was taken from a movie and it was not to be taken as derogatory towards the BQ's. He also used movie "quotes" in TAR9. But you know quite well that some people lack any sense of humor and will run with their interpretation and the truth be damned. I don't know what you are referring to as far as Mirna is concerned though. Eric will be here on Wednesday and MAYBE I can get him to come here and answer a few questions. Let me give you an example of how these interviews sometimes work. Oswald and Danny, in one of their interviews claimed that Eric "was a homophobe and that he 'made his living' off the Gay community working in Gay bars." The truth: Eric has had and still has Gay FRIENDS and has worked for the very same RESTAURANT since he arrived in Florida some 7 years ago. I would imagine that he does make some of his money from Gay clientele but not in the manner that D/O appear to have claimed. I do not blame him one iota for the way he feels about D/O...

:lol3: Somehow I don't blame them for being bitter. They got their asses kicked after using the BQ's as scapegoats for their, Danny and Oswald's, use of the Yield. Not everybody fell for their drama. Some of us were born at night but not last night though their theatrics convinced some that they did "not really" want to Yield Eric and Danielle. Total BS. Of course they did.
And I can assure you that Eric is not Gay. However, were he Gay it would not be a problem with us and we would all love him just as much as we now do.

You're welcome peach. Here's puddin's Pirates Jersey. It's the same one Eric and I wore at Latitude. It now has just a few (5 I believe) autographs. I really wanted to get a Boston Red Sox cap along with the jersey autographed by ROMBER for puddin but sadly Rob and Amber were not at Latitude. I'm sure we will catch up with ROMBER in the near future and maybe we can make the baseball cap happen.

I don't either. I loved D/O in their original season and I loved them here now but their exit interviews were full of pettiness, not only against your son but to other racers as well with no justifiable reasons as to why they feel that way. I did get to meet your son at TARCon 9 (well more like I gave him a chocolate that I gave out at a separate fan lunch, he thanked me and kissed me on the cheek...heh) but I know that most people that did get to meet either at that TARCon or this one had overall nice things to say about him. Unfortunately I didn't get to speak to you at this Tarcon though I witnessed your first meeting with Jer outside of Stitch which was great, so I hope I do get to see you at the next one.

This really belongs in the TAR11 epsiode 10 thread, but nobody is going to look at it there, so I am cheating a little by putting it here. Eric was interviewed last night by Rob and Trevor, who had a 45 minute conversation with Eric. There were two things that really stood out for me. First was Eric's attitude toward Danielle, which has continued and is maybe even a little more negative than expressed around TARCON XI and the 5/7/07 Early Show and all the press interviews he did in that time frame. Second is the clarification of what happened in Hong Kong searching for the entrance to the jocky club. As I remember the editing on TAR11 episode 10, Danielle was portrayed as the savior of the team for insiting on hiring a taxi which led the team to the right place when they had been struglling to find it. The way Eric tells it(and I'm sure the way it really was), when he gave in to her nagging they were already at the wrong entrance to the Jockey Club. The taxi led them back to the same place before finding the right place, extracting $50(Eric didn't say but probably Hong Kong dollars) in the process.
