Title: All-Stars Ratings
Post by: mswood on February 19, 2007, 02:43:09 PM
Well Marc Berman is reporting the breakdown in Fast Nationals over on his website

http://pifeedback.com/eve/?cdra=Y&s=32410241  A great ratings web site, for those who like to know.

The 8:30 half hour had 9.60 million viewers (the lowest levesl since season 9). and a 2.6 in 18-49

The 9:00 half fhour increased to  11.74 million viewers and a 3.3 in 18-49 year olds.

Know due to the overrun of Golf (Yeah Golf), these ratings may change up a bit when final numbers are announced.

From CBS Press:

The premiere of THE AMAZING RACE:  ALL-STARS (8:27-9:27PM) was second from 8:30-9:30PM in households (6.2/10), viewers (10.29m) and adults 25-54 (3.9/09).  Compared to the 90-minute first episode of THE AMAZING RACE on Sept. 17, 2006, the winter premiere added +160,000 viewers (from 10.13m, +2%).

I honestly think that CBS was a little disappointed by the performance.  While it is a slight improvement over last season's opener.  But the demo numbers were good.  ANd in most cases that is the key issue for a shows continued health.

Last seasons opener came after the ratings depressed end of season 9 (where the switch to a later time period really hurt the ratings).

But most of season ten ranged in the 11-12 million range.

Hopefully teh show will manage to also improve its standings this season, though this week they will of course be expecting a serious decline in the ratings.  But it will be expected.

from futon

THE AMAZING RACE: ALL-STARS was second in households (4.9/07), viewers (8.17m) and adults 25-54 (3.5/07). Against the Academy Awards programming on ABC, THE AMAZING RACE retained 94% of last week's premiere adults 18-49 delivery (2.9/06 from 3.1/08) and built on the adults 18-34 performance (2.1/05 from 1.9/05) by +11%

Fast Nationals are out for the third week of the amazing race.

Viewers 10.71 million with a 3.7 18-49 demo.

While I would like the total viewer number to be higher teh demo was a nearly 50% increase over 60 minutes and the 2cd best demo number of the night for CBS.

If this number hold sout it will be the most watched episode of the season so far.

Compared to last season its 5 episodes did worse, 8 did better.  But hopefully with reruns starting for most of the networks for a few weeks and no more specials for it to take a serious hit on, the ratings should get even better, for at least a few weeks.

Not counting for of course the oscar effect, teh show is averaging right with season ten when it aired on time.

When season 10 was delayed by Football it always improved in ratings.

But the demo's are great for the show.  And in many ways thats better then total viewers.

In fasr Nationals the show scored an even 10 million viewers witj a 3.3 in adults 18-49.

Final numbers for Sunday are finally out and they were fairly poor.

a 9.82 in viewers.  The rest of CBS did very well.  This is not a good thing.  Hopefully its a one time thing.

Even teh Demo 's performance compared to the other CBS show was poor a 3.3.

Well priliminary Fast Nationals are in.  ANd damn, we need more sports overruns is all I can say.

The show had a  very large increase in viewers.

Since the show started on a 15 minute interval all tehy currently have available is the half hour breakdowns.

So from 8:30- to 9:00 pm 13.42 million viewers and a 3.9 in adults.
from 9:00 to 9:30 a 13.13 million viewers and a 4.0 in adults
And from 9:30 to 10:00 12.52 million viewers and still a 4.0 in adults.
I expect the final numbers to be closest to the 12.50 or so.

Which is easily teh highest rated episode of this season.  And nearly an increase of 3 million viers from the previous week.

In fact that number beats all but the final episode of season 10, all of season 9 and all of season 8 (I think on 8 but I could be wrong).

If its gets to a 12.75 if twill be the highest rated episode (witht he possible exception of some of 8, I don't have all those ratings) since season 7.

Lets here it for more basketball.

Either that are there are millions of people who absolutely hated Rob & Amber.

Sorry Puddin couldn't resist.

Well darn it, Final numbers took a bigger hit then I expected.

The show got 11.996 million viewers with a 3.9 in adults 18-49.

It is still easily the best ratings of the season.

And compared to season 10 it beat all the episodes except for two of them.  And it beat all of season 9.

So, God I hate to say it, but thank god for Sports OVerruns, as long as it isn't stupid golf.

where are you mswood?

At 8 p.m., "60 Minutes" and the start of "The Amazing Race" were first in households at 7.1/12, though ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" (7.0/11) had more total viewers. The finale of "Grease: You're the One That I Want" posted a 4.5/7 for NBC. "The Simpsons," 4.1/7, and "King of The Hill," 3.7/6, kept FOX ahead of The CW and "7th Heaven."

CBS stayed on top at 9 p.m. with "The Amazing Race" and the start of "Cold Case," averaging 7.2/11 for the hour. "Deal or No Deal" drew a 6.2/10 for NBC. FOX moved up to third with "Family Guy," 5.0/8, and "American Dad," 4.2/7, pulling ahead of ABC's "Desperate Housewives" rerun. An "America's Next Top Model" repeat on The CW drew a 1.3/2.

"Cold Case" and "Without a Trace" combined to draw a 9.3/16 for CBS at 10 p.m. "The Apprentice" scored a 4.7/7 for NBC, while ABC went with a "Brothers & Sisters" repeat, 3.1/5.

Without Simon Cowell's help, TAR went back to its typical ratings numbers--
the better one with little help of sports overrun. However, casual viewers
gained from last week's giant rat race might lose their interest because the
first 30 minutes of the show took place in the airports! According to Terry
and Ian on Early Show, it was really an anomaly. Because of an unexpected
religious migration, the airport in South Africa was stuffed with 10,000
passengers! CBS did downplay racers' frustration. Terry said at that time
many teams wanted to quit and just go home. Early Show repeated a footage in
that airport, I noticed that in the background lots of Muslims (women almost
covered their entire bodies) pointed to the camera laughing when Terry and
Ian talked to the camera that they wanted to fly home to Miami. Did South
Africa expel all Muslims or it is a volunteer migration. I really don't
know. But I think TAR producers handle the crisis well. They really couldn't
foresee it coming.

Yeah, sorry but my morning schedule as changed so i never get to this until later in the day.

Yeah ratings are down.  Witht he first hour getting beat by a repeat of ABC's Home improvement show.

Here's the breakdown by haf hour for the two hours.

The Amazing Race: All-Stars (CBS)
8:00 p.m. Viewers: 8.61 million (#2), A18-49: 2.6/ 7 (#3)
8:30 p.m. Viewers: 8.67 million (#3), A18-49: 2.8/ 7 (#3)
9:00 p.m. Viewers: 9.31 million (#2), A18-49: 3.0/ 8 (#3)
9:30 p.m. Viewers: 9.40 million (#2), A18-49: 3.0/ 7 (#2t)

Which if accurate is really actually surprising, that it built its audience considering at 8-9 it was agains't almost all repeats, yet at 9-10 it went agains't a new episode of Desperate Housewives.

It again shows how much better this show does with overruns.

But if those numbers hold, and still agiins't almost all repeats tyhats a very poor performance.

Final numbers for the two hour block are up and they even went down, Yikes.  Not good.

The Amazing Race (two-hours)
- 8.945 million viewers
- 5.3/8 HH
- 2.9/8 A18-49

This is a very poor performance for the show, especiallyon a night primarily of repeats.

:P

ABC had “Extreme Makeover Home Edition” (4.2 rating among adults 18 to 48 according to preliminary Nielsens), “Desperate Housewives” (6.0) and “Brothers & Sisters” (4.1).

That’s a series low for “Housewives,” but the Easter holiday had viewership down across the board. Also, the return of HBO’s “The Sopranos” and “Entourage” may have impacted numbers as well.

CBS was second in the demo and first in households. The network aired “Amazing Race: All Stars” (2.9), “Cold Case” (2.8 ) and “Without a Trace” (3.6).

On NBC, there was a two-hour “Dateline” (1.5), “Deal or No Deal” ( 2.8 ) and “The Apprentice” (2.6).

Fox was fourth with repeats. The CW was fifth with repeats and an original “7th Heaven” (0.7).

Yes ratings as a whole this sunday were down, down down.  But it was Easter and that does tend to lower ratigns, as many shows tend to repeat instead of airing originals.

Final numbers are out for AR

The Amazing Race
- 9.288 million viewers
- 5.4/9 HH
- 2.9/8 A18-49

I dont really know how to read theese numbers so does that mean tar is officaly done for? or is there still a glimmer of hope or will it continue for another season?

reality TV well it places typically a distant 2cd o ABC Extreme Home Makeover (or whatever its called) and is usually the lowest rating episode on CBS for that night.  So thats not good news.  But what does give us some hope is the adverstising friendldy 18-49 demo.  Thats the holy grail of demo's and what brings in the majority of ad time.  And while AR Does the worst for CBS in total viewers it does okay in the demo.  Meaning it has a descent number of viwers in that age brackit.  SO I would think at the least we would get a season renewal (but probably not a 2 season renewal for next year).  And it may not be on Sunday, it might flot around to fill any hole in the schedule.

Fast Nationals are delayed for a few hours so I can only give you the less accurate overnights which don't include viewer totals.

AR was beat at 8 by both Makeover and Dataline this week (thats unusual) and it got a 6.0 household and a 9 share will have much better info later to day.

But in comparison 60 minutes 8.9/15
Cold Case  8.2/12
Without a Trace 9.4/15
Title: Re: All-Stars Ratings

Well I've gotten home and the FAst Nationals ahve been out for a while.

AR got 9.06 million viewers and is 2cd for the 8 oclock hour behind a repeat of Extreme home makeover.

It received a 2.9/8 in the 18-49 demo.

By compairosn 60 minutes 12.02 million and a 2.2 in the target demo.

Thats a good example of a show that does far more in viewers but AR has a much important younger audience, that brings in higher ad revenue.

Cold Case   12.28 million viewers and 3.o in adults.  SO for 3 million additionl viewers they have practical the same number in adults 18-49.

Without a Trace  14.31 million viewers and a 3.5 in adults, thats a great number for both.

So while the viewer totals for Amazing Race aren't that good.  Its demo numbers hold at much better, and that demo is what brings in the bulk of a shows ad revenue.

It really should be safe for next year, at worst perhaps not two cycles and maybe on another night.  Thats at worst.

Final Numbers for this week are out and the total viewers went down very slightly but the demo number improved (which is very good).

Total Viewers 9.035
3.0 18-49.

Every otehr CBS show had more viewers that night, but only WIthout a Trace had more people watching it in the ad friendly adult 18-49 age group..

AR's demo really, really helps the show.

Not the best, but ratings across the board were down.  Whether from a large state of reruns (or "Special" programming or to teh strength of new episodes of Sorpranos and the excellent Planet Earth discovery series (if it wasn't for TAr, that s what I would be watching).

i get the feelings twoards the summer months not many people are watching tv on sunday night and are spending time outside or going out while tivo'ing everything. i think that could be a reason for bad ratings someweeks and in tv as a hole

from the hollywood reporter

Quote
NEW YORK -- ABC and CBS split Sunday night's primetime, with ABC winning the adults 18-49 demographic while CBS won in viewership with more than a half million viewers to spare.

"Desperate Housewives" was the night's top show in key demos with 16.9 million viewers and a 6.5 rating/16 share in adults 18-49, according to preliminary estimates released Monday by Nielsen Media Research. It was down slightly from last week (17.2 million, 6.8/17) but was still well ahead of CBS' "Cold Case" (13.6 million, 3.2/8) in the 9 p.m. hour. "Cold Case" was up from last week (12.1 million, 2.7/7).

ABC won the 8 p.m. hour with "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" (11.6 million, 4.3/12), which showed improvement week-to-week (10.7 million, 4.0/12). It came in ahead of "Amazing Race" (10.5 million, 3.3/9) and "Deal or No Deal" (9 million, 2.2/6) plus a new episode of "The Simpsons" (7.7 million, 3.7/10) and a repeat of "The Simpsons" (7.9 million, 3.8/9).

Fox had its strongest half hour of the night at 9 p.m. with a new episode of "Family Guy" (7.9 million, 3.8/9) then followed it with "American Dad" (6.5 million, 2.9/7).

NBC did better than it has been since "Sunday Night Football" went off the air with the two-hour special "Saturday Night Live in the '90s: Pop Culture Nation" (7.9 million, 3.6/9) which was NBC's highest adults 18-49 rating in the time period since Jan. 7.
