So, uh, I think I *may* have come across racers today. I do not have actual 100% confirmation that it was TAR, but this is what I saw:
~1:15 PM, 6/24/06
49th between 6th and Rock. Center, right outside one of the NBC entrances (not that they were going in).
All female African-American team (as mentioned in that thread that was linked to on the last page)
Getting out of a cab that was from Newark (which made it stand out more from the traditional NYC cabs).
Two crew with them - one boom mic operator, one cameraman.
The girls got out of the cab and asked a local for directions - the mic operator then had to get the person to sign a release and the team looked very impatient while they were waiting.
The biggest tip-off for me was that one of the crew had a yellow "K" tag, and having just re-watched Season 7, it looked exactly like the tags that everyone has on their bags

I was on a flight from Paris to New York on June 24 with 3 TAR teams - 2 young guys, 2 african american women and a man & woman.
At ticketing, my friend asked the two african american women what tv show it was for.
One of them answered, "You don't need to worry about it, just move out of the way". We wound up sitting in the bulkhead between business class and coach, near the bathrooms.
The man from the man/woman team came over to us and asked if we knew where The News Building (http://www.bluffton.edu/~sullivanm/hood/hood2.html) was in New York City - he even showed us the clue.
We tried our best to help him out - even gave him some money. We asked him lots of questions, most of which he couldn't divulge.
Air France flight 8600 from Charles DeGalle to JKF. Departed 6/24 @ 825am
While walking thru airport to get to the right terminal I spotted two rugged-looking young guys, a camera man and what looked like a production person.
When we got to the terminal and checked in, the agent said they had overbooked the flight and would we mind being bumped to a later flight in exchange for $150 voucher, which we agreed to.
However, the agent said we might still be on that flight and to check back later.
We went to cash our vouchers at the ticketing office and the two young guys were there with a stack of passports, which I assume is for themselves and the crew that travels with them.
When we went back to see if we were going to be on the first flight, we saw the two guys in line to check in and that's when we saw the african american women with their own cameraman.
When we were called up by an agent, my friend walked in front of the camera, asked her question and got rebuffed.
We found out that we were going to be on the first flight and after checking our baggage, left walking in front of the camera again.
From what I could tell, each team has their own camera man and sound guy.
Plus there's someone that looks like a production person, but I'm not sure if there's one for every team.
It's difficult to tell from the pictures that have been posted if they are the ones I saw - the african american women for sure, the man/woman team in blue is a possibility.

I spotted the teams in Paris.. YES, PARIS.. In Eiffel tower. I saw the clue box and camera crews on the top of Eiffel tower.. It was Friday, 23 June 2006, in the morning..
I could post some pictures if you guys want them.. Actually the crews warned me twice not to take photos of the teams..

23 June, 9.00am to 11.00am. That doesn't leave the teams much time to travel from Barcelona does it? The Barcelona Pit Stop catering is offered from 11.30am to 4.00pm the previous day, which means that teams will most likely depart from 11.30pm on the 22nd until 4.00am on the 23rd.
Now the earliest flight I can find on Air France (horrible grappling with both French and Spanish) is AF2349 leaving at 7.05am and arriving at 9.00am. Iberia offers IB4422 leaving at 7.25am and arriving at 9.05am, but at Orly Airport.

Orly is 6km from the city centre, Charles de Gaulle 26km. By taxi, travelling time is at least 45 minutes on the A1 expressway, and that is during off-peak hours. Getting to the Eiffel Tower quickly during Friday morning rush hour? I don't think so.
Train services aren't that much more promising. Both airports require a change of train (from Line B to C, and Orly requires an extra light-rail shuttle) to get to the Eiffel tower, and a journey from either airport takes about 50 minutes. No idea how they'd be able to make it, unless they shorten the Pit Stop duration. Now if the just-eliminated team gets on a flight to Paris to join other Sequester II teams though...
Now for the tower itself. I agree with gingerman28 that this looks like an exact repetition: climbing up the Eiffel Tower on foot. The pictures were taken on the second platform, with the first (lowest) platform (http://www.clt.astate.edu/wallen/digits/eiffel/tower03.jpg) enclosed, and the third platform (http://www.clt.astate.edu/wallen/digits/eiffel/tower04.jpg) using squarish netting instead of diagonal ones. I also found this (http://photos.pkicentral.com/albums/userpics/10001/IMG_2585.jpg) but I have no idea where it belongs, but the lower level of the second platform (http://www.painetworks.com/photos/ih/ih1319.JPG) seems to fit nicely. And guess what? One is only allowed to climb on foot up to the second platform. Guess the TAR producers ran out of ideas! (I really really hope this is a decoy though.)

This picture was taken between 9:14 and 9:19 am on June 23rd, 2006.
I've got good accuracy with this one because they are located at the North Leg of the tower (where Gustave's Statue is located). And the Eiffel Tower is oriented exactly North/South/East/West in terms of its leg positions (as near as I can tell from Google Earth, and knowing the French zeal for perfection I suspect that it is exact). With that pinpoint of orientation and the the way the shadow crosses the rounded surface almost exactly at the corner (a little before, and being a slanted curve, you have to look at the equatorial position) I peg the solar azimuth at 89 plus or minus half a degree.
This all argees quite nicely with the Exif data of the shots: This Nikon shot has a time stamp of 15:17:31while the Canon shot Karlyn & Lynn has a timestamp of 16:16:54. But Both shots were taken within seconds of each other. So they just have a daylight saving time mismatch in addition to their timezone offset of six hours as noted by Slowhatch.

If Bama is indeed spotted in Rock Plaza and NOT at the News Building(27 blocks south, and 4 blocks east of the center) and are in a different type cab (from Newark) could this mean that Bama is indeed a DECOY TEAM? Remember TAR7 with a team spotted in NYC, but the actual teams on the way to Miami?

If Bamas were decoys,
1. They wouldn't have them run the Paris leg, where they were spotted.
2. They wouldn't send them to out-of-the-way destinations in NY the DAY of the finish line -- they'd run the risk of not having them there to greet the winners.

Cho brothers and the blonds will make it to New York, most likely one of the later episodes of the season....
I was in NYC this summer early one Saturday morning right by Union Square, and I saw a few people running up to the group of people I was with, holding clue cards in their hands. I recall it was one of the Cho brothers (the younger one I believe), pointed to their clue card, which was the Alamo sculpture in Astor Place in NYC. (see picture on wikipedia here
One of the people in our group knew where it was, and pointed them to get to the right direction (it was South of Union Sq). It didn't hit us until a minute later when we were like, "didn't they look like they were in the Amazing Race?!?!" We never thought we'd be one of those people who they would ask directions for. I think we also saw the blond girls chasing right after the Cho brothers...

Probably someone already thought of this and I missed seeing it above. But what about this:

I think you're right. This would be the PERFECT pit stop. Look at this view of the Globe in College Point Park. Funny I always thought it was Flushing Meadows Park. It's been there since the World's Fair in 1964.

Can't help thinking that if TAR10 starts in Seattle where TAR3 finished ....as well as TAR10 going to Beijing , doing the same type tasks as TAR 1 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Amazing_Race_1) that maybe just maybe the final leg can be Flushing Park where TAR1 ended (http://www.cbs.com/primetime/amazing_race/) . Don't forget that the final three teams must first travel from Barcelona to Paris; travel from CDG into the city center; climb the Eiffel Tower; find a clue; travel back to CDG; get on plane for flight to JFK (AF 8600 departs at 8:25AM (so this must be two days in Paris); BEFORE they even attempt to travel to 3 locations in NYC. And all this in a one hour program?????

If the screen caps you have of the previews are any indication, then the winners are James and Tyler. They just look really happy. Rob and Kim has a face of satisfaction but not a smile of winning a million bucks. The Bama girls look like they got last place.

Kim and Rob have big smiles too, and running alot faster.
How you all want James and Tyler to win is sick, all they have done was follow[usually the blondes], and they sucked at directions. Lyn and Karlyn did this whole race on their own and deserve the win.

I dont really give a crap if James and Tyler win [AS LONG AS ITS NOT ROB AND KIM] but i can tell why ratings have been so low, the race is predictable why waste 13 weeks when you can tell the winner just by looking at the teams.

Might I humbly suggest you go to the general AR section and read my rather long winded breakdown of teams and their performance.
There is a nice and rather long winded breakdown of when teams have gotten lost (so far Tyler & James aren't worse then Bama, or Rob & Kim, or D & K). THey have justt got lost for a longer period of time.
Before this episode the number of times each team has been the first to open a clue at a route marker (meaning the got their first or they finished a task first.
Tyler & James 21 times
Dustin & Kandice 15 times
Rob & Kimberly 6 times
Lyn & Karlyn 2 times
The team that has finished tasks (Detour and Roadblocks only which helps the women team since they have one more detour and one more roadblock then T & J or R & K).
Tyler & James 6
Dustin & Kandice 5 (with 2 of those being tasks that Tyler & James and Rob & Kim weren't around for)
Rob & Kimberly 3
Lyn & Karlyn 1
And if you want to save you time I can provide a numeric count for the number of times a team has followed without permision, and the number of times teams have worked together while traveling.
Tyler & James aren't at the top of either list or even teh #2 position of either list.

Can we talk about the episode please. James and Tyler i feel have gotten way lost [falling to dead last] two epsides in a row, so i think when it comes to directions they are bottom of the barrel.
Anyway back to the lake, Central Park has a nice lush green lake, as does New Jeresey, and prolly Staten Island, or Weschester maybe.

Being from NY, if they really go through the cuty the finish cant be the Finger Lakes or the Great Lakes, thats a real long car ride and pretty long train ride [few hours]. MY guess is its a Lake on Long Island [maybe Lake Ronkonkama], and teams can take the LIRR out, or a taxi.
Kim and Rob have big smiles too, and running alot faster.
How you all want James and Tyler to win is sick, all they have done was follow[usually the blondes], and they sucked at directions. Lyn and Karlyn did this whole race on their own and deserve the win.
Yep it looks like somewhere on LI but not Lake Ronkonkoma. It probably is somewhere on the North Shore of the island which faces Connecticut but it doesn't look familiar to me. I was going to say Teddy Roosevelt's home, but I don't think so.

I will tell you all this, outside of the city cab drivers are lost, so this last leg will be all luck who gets the best cab. They also try to cheat your for more money leaving the city. However they cant say they wont take you or they can loose their job. Lyn and Karlyn's black driver looks clueless, just trying to keep it real wasnt meant as a racial comment. If the race does finish on Long Island, its a different world NYC people and LI people are totally different and cab will deff be lost out of their minds.

I'm not a plane-spotter, so I'll ask anyone: is it a Pilatus Porter? There are couple of skydiving centers north of Barcelona in Empuriabrava like this one (http://www.skydiveempuriabrava.com/el_centre.php?id=2); and I'm searching France in case that first letter is an F (too fuzzy to read).

Is it that hard to see that people have different opinions? Oh and the ratings have been quite good for a TAR season, way better then last year.

I can't seem to fit a train ride from Barcelona to Paris into the 10 hours between 11pm June 22nd and 9 am June 23rd.
The fastest ride is 9 hours with the TGV. But that does not leave until 8 in the morning.
So I think they fly to Paris. And all the train riding is to get them out into the countryside where they can do the sky diving.

We have to keep in mind that the three final teams were spotted (with pictures) at the Eiffel Tower in Paris between 9 and 11 AM on Friday, June 23. That leaves the rest of the day to do another task or two outside of Paris, perhaps.
Also we have them for sure on Air France Flight 8600 from Paris to New York leaving at 8:25AM and arriving at 11:15AM. Which means they would have to be at CDG at least by 7:25AM.

There's also a major road right along the riverbank (yellow arrow) -- I don't see that in the promo clips, nor would they want to set up the finish along a roadway.

Don't be so fast to dismiss the promo clips & GE image of Hyde Park. The banks of the Hudson River near Hyde Park are quite steep. According to GE, the roadway by the river is at an elevation of 10-30ft, while the grassy open area atop the cliff is at 200ft. The roadway might not be seen at all. The finish line may actually be at the Vanderbilt Mansion National Park (in Hyde Park, NY).
ETA: Looks like the riverside "road" is actually "train tracks".

I think the L/K voiceover at the beginning of the AOL promo has been edited from at least 2 different speeches:
1. We are the first female team ever to make the final three -- we have made history...
2. Now we just have to be the first team to win the million dollars...
I'm suspecting this because that testimonal at the beginning of their segment looks to be at the finish line area... and the second part of the statement makes no sense if they've already finished the race.
BTW: Don't think I had the right bridge in Lyon after all -- with this close up, the pillars look different...

Question: Do you think they will have a task at the final mat like in TAR 8 and 9? Those were roadblocks and it looks like the parachuting is the roadblock of this leg.
I still wonder why the Bamas are carrying their backpacks in the pic we are led to believe is the sprint to the mat. They are also the only team that are wearing the same clothes for the whole leg.

Sups, the skydiving plane is registered in Lyon, France, so that task isn't at the finish line -- but I'm guessing there's probably a task at the finish since that seems to be the trend as of late.

I studied the picture and at first thought there were 10 teams but now I'm pretty sure there are only 9. The left side definitely has only 4 teams and the right is a little more tricky but appears to be 5 teams.
On the left we have: Duke and Lauren, Vipul & Arti (?), Peter & Sarah, and closest to Phil are the Chos
On the right we have: Bilal & Saeed, team cheer, blurs which are probably Tom & Terry and David & Mary (?), and finally the BQ's
I'm pretty sure the most recent eliminated racers are closest to Phil. Sarah and Peter can be identified by the height difference but it looks like Peter is wearing a skirt/. :cmaslol

Don't think this scenario will work. The two early flights from Barcelona (BCN) leave at 7:25AM and 7:05AM and arrive in Paris at CDG at 9"05AM and at Orly at 9:00AM. It would be almost impossible to get through customs and ride the RER line to the Eiffel Tower and still be there for the 9:00AM sighting

A couple of observations for what they may be worth:
1. The train that the models are seen getting out of looks like the RER commuter train that runs from both CDG and Orly airports into town. It is the same red color and is double decker. The RER also has a stop at the Eiffel Tower.
2. The shot of two yellow taxicabs looks to be on the Henry Hudson Parkway which runs from New York City up the east side of the Hudson River connecting to routes 9 and 9A which run up to Hyde Park. Note the taxi number on the roof: RG89 is a NYC type cab number. Also note that the editors have conveniently rubbed out the rear license plate (they know we all look for those details).
3. There is a lot of "out of sequence" editing in the promos with cuts back and forth. But you can track the days by Kim's yellow and gray tank tops.

It may be the Hudson but it looks really busy with what may be an island or peninsula in the view from the mat.
There are a lot of lakes to check out. Note the carpet of trees around the body of water in the preview.
New York has more lakes than Alaska has airfields so happy hunting! :snicker:

For the taxi shot, I think it is an elevated roadway: Note lamppost and what may be roof tops of low buildings. I don't think it's water because I checked all the bridges leaving Manhattan.
The shaded portions of those Projects suggest that the taxis are headed west or southwest (assumes noonish time of day).

From Brooklyn via Tunnel or Brooklyn Bridge: Take the FDR Drive North. Take exit number 7 (23rd Street). Make a slight right, then turn left onto East 23rd St. Turn right onto 1st Avenue, turn left onto East 25th St.and then turn left onto Lexington Ave.
Must be when going to the News building which is on 42nd Street between Second and Third Avenue.

About trains:
Tyler and James are seen departing from a RER commuter train which runs from both CDG and ORY to the center of the city of Paris. There is a stop at the Eiffel Tower.
Cabs in New York appear to be passing Stuyvesant Town housing project on the lower East Side of Manhattan. Could be on the FDR drive. Cabs from JFK most likely would be coming to Manhattan via the Long Island Exspressway and the Midtown Tunnel.
Shots of two yellow cabs look to be on the Henry Hudson Parkway leading north from Manhattan. If the teams take cabs from Manhattan up to Hyde Park, I hope they have lots of cash since NYC cabs are some of the most expensive found and those meters click off dollars every tenth of a mile!!
Debate about Bama getting into either a New York or New Jersey cab at JFK should remember that there was a sighting of two African American females getting out of a Newark Cab at Rock center. But this shot seems to be a New York Yellow Cab. Cabs from Newark would be much different and easy to spot.

Chateau: I think your map is off. The nearest RER stop for the Eiffel Tower is CHAMP DE MARS-TOUR EIFFEL which is at about the location of the green building at the corner of the race track which is part of the Stade Emile Anthoine To get to the Eiffel Tower you would not turn to the right on Avenue de Suffren, b ut would continue straight up Quai Brannly one block to the tower.

Ah, now I know exactly where they are. They are walking on Avenue de Suffren and are crossing the corner of Rue Jean Rey. The RER station is directly behind them. To the left if the sports club Stade Emile Anthoine Just ahead of them is the Hilton Hotel. If they would look to their left as they cross the street they would have a perfect view of the Eiffel Tower. If they continue straight ahead they will come to one of my favoritie Parisian restaurants38 Eiffel which serves the best onion soup found anywhere in the world.
I'll send a couple of pix to Puddin which shows the view of the Eiffel Tower from the corner of Rue Jean Rey and Avenue de Suffren.

I've noticed that in the past seasons, in the episode when the 4th place team is eliminated, after the team is eliminated, when the final 3 teams briefly speak about the final leg, they always show them in the order that they place. If they use this pattern fot this season, then that means T/J win, R/K are 2nd, and Bama is 3rd. :yess:

I also notice Lakshmi. It's strange, I read just a few weeks ago that TAR9 did make a stop at the ox farm in Palmer; I wonder if TAR10 went to Gandan monastery, Grand Bassin and other places and we'll never know it (unless a racer spills the beans later on B:)).
As far as Paris goes, I did the bridges and tower and metro and all that during TH, so I think I'll sit this one out. :rotf:

I have included here a view from Pages Jaunes that one would see on Quai Branly. It really screams Eiffel tower. No way they could have missed ET along Quai Branly.

The stairwell is the MAIN entrance (with ticket booth etc.) but the station platform stretches all the way to the corner at Avenue de Suffern with the EXIT actually facing up Avenue de Suffern and NOT Quai Branly. I know I spent a week at the hotel there in '04. And my favorite pub is at the next corner from your marked spot - No. 38. The spot you marked is the actual spot I took the photos of the Eiffel Tower. So if they cross Avenue Octave Greard and don't look to their left until after Rue Jean Rey they will never see the tower and could walk quite aways. Perhaps they even stopped at the 38 Eiffel for a quick one!!

Thanks Gman. I trust you and should trust my memory too. The RATP map must have left out the entrance. I think the lady shows R&K the Eiffel Tower at the same spot you took your pictures. How come your pub has number 38 when the numbers should start over at 1 as the street changes name from Rue Jean Rey to Avenue Octave Greard?

Could be because no one is in back of them chasing them to be worried about. I rarely ever saw them RACE to the Pit stop so I don't find it unusual. Personally I believe those pictures in the clips don't suggest to me that the J/T or K/R are the winners. Every time they arrive at a pit stop they do the same thing not knowing what position they are in. So do the Winners just stand on the map waiting for the 2nd and 3rd place to come in? I rarely followed AR before so I don't know.

Yes the teams that arrive first are there up on the matt when the others arrive (unless they are significantly behind like more then an hour or two).
But it depends where they shot that footage if they have just been given the final plac to run to but aren't in a direct line of sight yet. Or if that shot is them seeing the matt.
But I will say this is the first time I can ever recall seeing the producer give so much away on the last foot race to the Matt.
So I have to assume its misdirection.
And even though I really want Tyler & James to win. I don't think they do.

It's funny how the teams are standing in order of elimination.
I can't remember if this has always been done.
As for the "happiness" factor I think this would probably be a dry run for the camera-run-up-to-the-mat. So they just tell everyone to clap and look happy. The waiting teams don't know yet who will be coming around the bend.

How come your pub has number 38 when the numbers should start over at 1 as the street changes name from Rue Jean Rey to Avenue Octave Greard?

I was just Google Earthing my way up the Hudson. I can't find any info on the place. There is a park south of it called Philiipstown Park. I think the place is private. But that mansion looks important. It must have historic significance.

From what I'm reading
The West Point Museum is located directly behind the Visitors Center. The museum isi n the renovated Olmsted Hall at PershingCenter on the grounds of the former Lady cliff College. The grounds were purchased by West Point after the college closed inthe early 1980s.

So what do you think of the gravestone showing up in the St. Basil video. It's at the halfway point.
And I am pretty sure it is located as I marked in the first GE image. Because it is grassy arountd it, has trees behind it, should be prominantly placed out of respect for the who died. They were going on about his great achievments with the Academy way back when. His is in the blurry B&W picture that is near field and to the left. What I'm saying is the spot I marked would be seen by everyone arriving at the academy.
If I have that gravestone correctly placed then I can propose a theory on the order of the teams arrivals:
T&J Are shown running past the gravestone toward the mat.
Bama and R&K are shown running in front of the modern housing units toward the mat.
Why are there such differnt approaches?
T&J used the obvious direct approach to the mat (the right fork in the driveway).
I think Bama and R&K arrived before T&J and took the left fork in the driveway because of production screening or direction (not just because they were lost).
Then, later on, when T&J arrived the production screen or redirect was removed so T&J could just get to the mat.
So here's my prediction: T&J are 3rd.

So how would a final task at the academy fit into this scenario?

The final task is probably responsible for the way the teams look on final approach to the mat. That is so say they finish it and head to the mat knowing exactly where they stand. So, they look excited (if excited is an emotion they are capable of displaying) but not going all out.
I suspect they will have to build or fire canons or some kind of munitions at that nearby spot that has the historic West Point foundry.

Rob and Kim cant win, they are so disrespectful not only to each other, but to locals on the race and basically evey racer [aside from James and Tyler] on the race. Oh no, no wonder nobody is happy at the finish line. This season has been so good, to see them win would be worse than Freddy and Kendra [at least they were kind of nice to each other]. Serriously i would move from NY if they won because thats where they won, them winning i am like about to barf thinking about it.

After looking closer at GE I don't think the teams took different approaches. There is a creek and a foot bridge going over the creek between most of those dorms and the final mat. Bama and R/K would have to run almost back to the road and take a sharp left to run towards the mat. T/J pic is much closer to reaching the mat. And remember in summer the trees and shrubs are full and they probably wouldn't see the mat until they passed the 2nd house.
The question is why are they coming from that direction? If it was to do a final task they wouldn't have them see the the mat before the task. Do we know if the area just southeast is also part of the academy? Perhaps they went there and completed a task (maybe in that field) and then ran to the mat. It's less than a half mile and we've never seen teams pull right up to the final pitstop and jog just a few feet anyway.
ETA: Maybe I have them running through the woods? :cmaslol Just saying that I don't think the taxi's would drop them within viewing distance of the mat so they have to coming from somewhere.

It would be an easy thing for WRP to pay some para-club for a remote job; they did it in TAR3, paying an Arizona company to work out of Mexico City (Teques-something :cmas27). So F-GYRY may be out of Lyon, but I haven't matched the hangar yet (there's a large pole or flagstaff in the cap; there should be a shadow in the GE Corbas field, but I don't see one). On a semi-related subject: are all the train shots Metro/RER, or can anything be definitely spotted as TGV?

I was just thinking that this flying organization could do the service at another field. Their field and environs do not match the preview.
I like my Paris skydivers...maybe they use Beauvais Airport (http://beauvais.airport-paris.com/)--50 miles NW of Paris. Don't planes get around--kind of like boats? I thought they are never in their home "port"....

The timings of what we know says that the teams start the leg around midnight between the 22nd and 23rd in Barcelona. They have to catch a 6 am flight to Paris. I don't see any other way for them to get to the Eiffel Tower by 9 am. They head out of Paris for the jump (and a tedious Detour). After that they have until 8 or 9 pm to get back to Paris.

This is just a lot of misdirection, a bunch of hooey. No matter what happens in Spain, Normandy, or Paris we KNOW that all three teams are together on June 24 on Delta (Air France) flight 8600 leaving Paris at 8:25AM.
So all that does matter is what happens in New York City. Do they find the News Building on 42nd street without difficulty (Bama has already been seen in the wrong place); and how fast can they get up the Hudson to the final mat and do they have to do something first across the river at West Point. Those are the burning questions, not what happens on June 22/23 in Europe.

I had one more piece of info that helped to find that spot. It was that in the promo they show a view out the airplane towrds the sun. But it is also towards land! So, knowing that it had to be between 11 am and 3 pm I knew that they were flying over a coastline that faced north to northwest. Heck you could even see a reflection os sunlight off the atlantic ocean on the opposite side of the peninsula 80 to 100 miles away!
I will look at those shadows but I don't expect to find much due to the general overcast.

I hate to call it on such crappy-ass shadows but I am inclined to believe that Bama is after Rob & Kimberly. Bama's eve-molding shadows don't go as low as R&K's. That means the sun was lower for Bama. And I'm sure the time is past noon so lower sun means later in the day.

Also, about this comparison: If it's fair to assume camera settings are the same and no image brightness modifications were made then seeing that Bama's out-facing eve board is brighter is consistent with the sun moving more westward. The more west it goes the more directly it hits the west- (and somewhat north-) facing eve boards. That will make it brighter. In other words brighter eve board means later.

I like TJ but alpha males have won like every season...
We have had 10 season so far, counting this one.
Alpha males have won in seasons 1 (Rob & Brennan), 2 (Chris & Alex), 4 (Reichen & Chip). Thats it.
Now BJ & tyler won in season 9 and were a damn good team, but the alpha male team.
And even if you count that its 4 times so far out of 9 completed seasons.
Couples or mixed teams have won in seasons 3, 5, 6, 7, and 8.

Ah, now Puddin' you have me thinkin' which is bad. But before I was distracted by visions of wenches running buck nakkid around my castle all goon poof, I'll get back to a final somewhat thin final summary.
Four teams finally make it to the pit stop in Barcelona, Spain, but one is later than the others so is Philiminated! Bye, Bye Beauties, see you on AR AS.
The three remaining teams, T/J, R/K, and Bama have a mandatory 12-hour rest, etc. etc. and then leave between 12Midnight and 1:30AM for the airport to catch a plane to CDG Paris. "Oh, boy we are going to Paris" "Where's that?" "France!" So all three teams travel by cab through the early hours of the morning to the Barcelona Airport. Only to find that they all have to wait until 6:00AM to catch flight VY5001 which will arrive in CDG at 7:50AM
Arriving in Paris, the teams must take the RER into the city and find the structure built in 1899 to impress vistors to the Universal Exhibition. That's the Tour Eiffel, of course. The nearest RER station is at Champ de Mars/Tour Eiffel, but this entails a switch of lines from Blue to Yellow at Saint-Michael/Notre Dame.
Once at the Champ de Mars/Tour Eiffel station they must walk two blocks along the Seine River embankment to the Eiffel Tower; there they must proceed to the Second Level to locate their clue. R/K leave the station but turn to walk up Avenue de Suffren from which angle they can not see the tower at all. At the corner of Rue Jean Rey they meet someone to steer them down Avenue Octave Greard.
When the teams arrive at the second level they find a clue which directs them Gare St-Lazare to catch a train to Caen (one hour and 45minutes).
Once in Caen they must take a cab to a local flying club and find the ROADBLOCK: To recreate the famous 101st Airborne pre-dawn jump into Normandy before the DDay invasion. One member of each team must make the 12,000 foot drop (the 101st did it from 600 feet!) while the other member of the team rides along for the thrill. We see Tyler, Kim and Karlyn making the jump.
When they land on the beach in Normandy they are told to make their way back to Caen and take the first train back to Gare St. Lazare. Here it is not clear whether they have to go somewhere else or go directly to CDG and book the fisrt available flight to NEW YORK CITY (DRUM ROLL!!) "We're going home, we're going home!!"
In any case we will have a typical TAR bunching at CDG as all three teams finally make it onto Delta (Airfrance) flight 8600 departing at 8:25AM. Do we have some more last minute hold the door, please for me? Who knows
Arriving in JFK, New York, at about noon after clear customs, etc., teams must take cabs into Manhattan and search for "a News Tower". Bama jumps the line and takes a Newark registered cab and heads for Rockefeller Center the "tower" home of NBC. Now why would a CBS program be sending teams to NBC? Anyway this aint the place . Or could it be the "Black Tower" at 485 Madison Avenue, the home of CBS?. Or, finally could it be the News Tower on 42nd Street (former home of The Daily News)? The other teams have gone there directly. So Bama may also end up here after the other two.
Now we may have a huge gap! We have not had a DETOUR yet, so are the teams told to cab it up the West Side of the Hudson to West Point. Do we have some last minute Detour choice of tasks? or do we have the teams head directly up the East side of the Hudson to the Saint Basil Academy the site of the largest and final mat. Or do they do the DETOUR at West Point and then are told to take a cab back across the river to Staint Basil which is almost directly across the from West Point?
In recent TARs there has been one final task which has never been hinted at or revealed just before the final jump upon the matt.
So who completes the DETOUR and arrives first. Puddin knows but she ain't talkin.
So be it.

somewhere in this thread I think their was a story of someone seeing a couple cross the finish line near Rockefeller center ..now we know that can't be true unless they got their info crossed with something else they crossed and it wasn't exactly the finish line.

Hey, someone over at TWOP has been swiping info and photos from here without giving source. If "Paris in Spring" is not Chateau then he/she is blatantly taking claim to Chateaus photos and shadow analysis, even getting praise for the find. :meow:
I just know how much time and energy the detectives here put in and I don't like seeing this happen. I'd go set the record straight but I'm not sure if Paris is really one of the "senior detectives" here.

Just wanted to say the investigators here are INCREDIBLE. To find the exact location of the finish line is stunning, I honestly didn't think there was enough info and too many possibilities to narrow it down. Its been a good season and a good season of sleuthing, my compliments to the members here.
I normally root for the racers I think have earned it most over the entire race. That almost never narrows it down to one team, so a combination of competitiveness while racing and civility toward others not in the race and low cut necklines was usually my tiebreaker. So, with the BQs out, I'm rooting for the dudes.
I am really hoping for a good pre finish line challenge like the last 2 seasons, but it is a pretty darn full hour already.
BTW, no way were BJT (TTOW!) alpha males, remember how the real alpha males made fun of them for being sissies. They are my all time favs, but not alpha males.

GARRISON - In addition to identifying the winning duo in "The Amazing Race," fans of the reality show might be surprised to recognize a Putnam County children's center in tonight's finale.
St. Basil Academy on Route 9D is the site of the finish line for Amazing Race 10, which airs at 8 p.m. on CBS, according to a network spokeswoman.
The 12 teams traveled more than 40,000 miles in 30 days, starting from Seattle. They went to four continents and 13 countries, hitting such exotic locations as Kuwait, Beijing and Madagascar.
Who, but the producers, knew they would deem Garrison, the Philipstown hamlet that is home to Gov. George Pataki, as a fitting end point?
The show follows competing teams as they travel the world based on sets of clues. The last team to reach each succeeding destination is eliminated, and the winning team to the last destination gets $1 million.
The Paolo family of Carmel participated in the series' ninth race. They were the sixth group to be eliminated, but did have a chance to bungee jump over the Panama Canal and lift 14,000 pounds of bananas in Costa Rica.
St. Basil Academy has been known in the community as a place to go to enjoy a cool swim in the center's large pool. It was also the subject of a protracted legal battle with the Garrison school district.
The 62-year-old academy last month got a state license to run a residential facility and have its 30 children attend Garrison schools. The children there used to be educated on site. The closing of the school prompted the fight with Garrison, which feared escalating costs from absorbing the new students.
"The Amazing Race" is planning its 11th contest in the spring as an all-star edition, producers said

The finish line is in Flushing Meadows, N.Y. We seem to recall an episode of The Simpsons in which Homer imagines Flushing Meadows as a land filled with toilets.
We doubt it’s actually like that. But still, after trips to places like Spain, Morocco and China, shouldn’t this extravaganza be winding up in a more exotic locale than Flushing Meadows? Was Hoboken booked?

Hey the only thing that was wrong was that the Bamas were not on the same flight with jlaw,,but he did see them at CDG (http://forum.realityfanforum.com/index.php/topic,11117.0.html). Also Shirlyf's Alamo spoiler sighting of the BQ's & Chos had something to it with the Alamo cube being a place for the cluebox.
I can't beleive R/K & T/J weren't spotted running around NY :cmas18 ?

Good show everyone. Now how come we haven't had more sightings of the All Stars? They have been at it now for 21 days and we have no sightings after Nov. 28 in Argentina. So by now they must be somewhere around Tibet.

Yeah the cell phone was dumb. But compare it to the normally amount of product placement we have had in the last three seasons and I love it.
Just check in to AOL, and the cell phone at the end.
No grabbing a gnome, no going to a BP gas station, ect.
For the most part. THis season was a nice return to form.

The finish line is in Flushing Meadows, N.Y. We seem to recall an episode of The Simpsons in which Homer imagines Flushing Meadows as a land filled with toilets.
We doubt it’s actually like that. But still, after trips to places like Spain, Morocco and China, shouldn’t this extravaganza be winding up in a more exotic locale than Flushing Meadows? Was Hoboken booked?

The responsibility for what we write always is our own, but just so you don't think we made that up during a drug-induced hallucination, it came from an episode description that was available on CTV's website. Might CBS have provided detailed but ultimately incorrect information to CTV to throw all us clever Canadians off the track? Maybe this is a consipiracy that goes all the way back to JFK! Regardless, this is offered as an explanation rather than an excuse, and as stated earlier, the responsibility is ours.

Just goes to show that Bama by themselves were completely lost. They had the lead and went back to Orley; they just had to ask and they would have been told that International flights across the pond originate from Charles DeGaul.
