Title: Heroes
Post by: Jeffrey Scott on October 30, 2006, 11:30:48 AM
Okay, I've been kicking around the idea of starting a thread on a non-reality TV show. Finally I figured we have one for Lost, and I'm starting to like this show just as much as Lost now. Anyone else checking this show out? I think it's going to be a new favorite. Things are really starting to get interesting.

Looks like theres another non-reality tv show for us to talk about. Love this show as much as Lost.
Atleast with this show we get more a few more answers then we do with Lost.  :yess:

This show will be a new favorite for a lot of people.

I watch this show too!  I started watching it last week on NBC.com, and i saw all 5 episodes in 2 days.  I'm as addicted to it as I am LOST and the Reality TV genre.

The thing I find funny about this show is the character Peter.  He can fly, he looks like Toby Maguire, he has a potential love interest, and his name is Peter P, and he's bent on saving New York City.  Sounds like he's a Spiderman copycat.

I especially like the Japanese guy, Hiro.  He's a hoot to watch!

I watched one episode so far and found it very addictive.  I've downloaded the episodes I've missed and now am taping shows.  The ep I watched was 2 weeks ago, I believe, and it showed Niki seducing another character at the end of the show.  Ali Larter, who portrays Niki, looks a lot like a young Diana Krall to me.  What I found ironic and interesting is that during her scene, there was background music of Diana Krall singing.  I'm sure that was no coincidence!

I've read that there is also a comic online regarding this show, or the characters.  Has anyone checked it out?

Have not checked out the graphic novel yet, but from what I hear, it gives additional information not in the TV show.
As for Peter, I don't want to spoil, but his powers are a bit more than just flight. Once you start watching the later episodes, you'll see what I mean.

I tried to get into the Online novel, but it took too long to load.  So I gave up.  Sounds like to me it's a play-off of The LOST experience.

I'm hoping we get the answer to Nikki's blackouts tonight. If DL has phasing powers as it looks like in the promo for tonight. Perhaps he phases into Nikki causing the blackouts? Would also explain the "Nikki's not here" comments.

Thoughts?

Jeff is right, Peters power is not flying but I wont say anymore for those who still need to
catch up. I haven't seen a preview for tonights episode yet but will be looking forward to
seeing the new episode when I get in from work tonight.
Title: Re: Heroes
Post by: TheCinera on October 30, 2006, 09:33:16 PM
Tonights episode was pretty good.  Not as good as the last 5 episodes, but still good.  I'm still wondering what Niki's husband (or whatever) did to her.  I may rewatch it.
Title: Re: Heroes
Post by: Jeffrey Scott on October 31, 2006, 09:49:38 AM
Yea, is Nikki dead? Why didn't she just tell him the money was there? And will we ever find out about the 'other' personality?
I guess it's possible she just had a normal split personality. Her alternate persona does seem to be evil and it looks like DL really wasn't bad after all.
I have a feeling we have not seen the last of Nikki.

As for what DL did to her, it looks like he phased his hand inside of her and partial materialized it. That would do quite a lot of damage.
Title: Re: Heroes
Post by: CeeeJay on October 31, 2006, 09:56:56 AM
the whole thing with Nikki is her alter ego doesn't come out until she is in a mirror.  normal Nikki didn't know about the money..it was mirror Nikki that told her. i doubt she's dead her story hasn't totally unfolded...but that was some crazy sh|t with the hand going through he and as though she was being choked!!

well Peter can't fly this was revealed i think in the 2nd episode when he "jumped"...there is a family member who can though.

last night there were some more answers and more people are finding out what powers each have.

Peter is played by Milo Ventimiglia .. who was Jess in Gilmore Girls...he also was in Bedford Diaries, American Dreams, Boston Public (he played undercover cop),

Ali Larter, final destination 1 and 2, house on haunted hill (which was on TV again Fri night), alot like love, jay and silent bob, legally blonde, drive me crazy,

Greg Gunberg (plays the cop who can read minds) is from Alias, Felicity, and others..

So there are a couple good actors in this show...is it going to be a full length series? or is it over at 7...imdb doesn't show more episodes other than 7...wait i correct myself one guy is showing 10

oh well we'll have to see
Title: Re: Heroes

I need to double check, but I think I heard it was picked up for 22 episodes.
Title: Re: Heroes
Post by: CeeeJay on October 31, 2006, 10:31:36 AM
we'll see if its picked up for another year...this year seems more like intro of characters
next year they can have more actual daily stories.  maybe it will be like a superman story with more heroes.
Title: Re: Heroes
Post by: Jeffrey Scott on October 31, 2006, 10:45:18 AM
I'm wondering if they will form into some kind of a team like Justice League or something.
I like this because there are no costumes or anything, it seems more like what would really happen if people had super powers.

Wasn't Micah that brainiac kid from "My Wife & Kids" on ABC?  I saw the show a few times (never got into it), but I remember only watchig parts because his character was great.

I knew I recognized Ali Later from the Final Destination series!  Love those movies.  And I read spoliers of future episodes, Nikki is definitely in the next episode (and alive).

Yes, Jeff, Heroes was picked up for a full series run.  This is definitely the best new show of the season.

I was listening to a podcast called ninth wonder. Oddly enough, there was comic of that last night in the episode. Is that what the online graphic novel is called?

yes that kid is from my wife and kids

for info on the characters go to

search heroes and it will tell you their filmography.

Interesting comments!  I'm also really liking Heroes, but must admit I didn't like it initially b/c it seemed too way out there!

Need to watch this week's show before commenting further.

I like the Japanese bros...both real hoots!  :lol3:
Title: Re: Heroes

What I love about the Japanese guys is the way the show displays its subtitles.  They're shown anywhere on the screen, and it makes their stoy much more intriguing.  LOST should do that for Sun and Jin centric episodes.

It will be interesting to see Hiiro when he has more control of his powers. I also can't wiat for Peter to hone his skills. Wonder where the scar will come from? I think those two must become good friends.

Michael Ausiello

Question: Heroes poop, please?— Kerry

Ausiello: Repeat after me: "Shag the cheerleader, save the world!" Or not. During a conference call yesterday with reporters (including TVGuide.com's Matt Mitovich), Milo Ventimiglia dismissed the possibility of a Peter-Claire hookup. "She's in high school, she's 17, so that's going to be the story of Never Gonna Happen," he maintained. "At least not legally, for a while. There's a definite connection that Claire develops with Peter, but Peter has a connection with all the characters he comes in contact with, as a nurturer, caretaker." Meanwhile, Milo's TV bro, Adrian Pasdar, confirmed what I hinted at a few weeks back: Nathan's soon-to-be-seen wife, played by Rena Sofer, is in a wheelchair as a result of an accident. "There's a sense of guilt that has permeated Nathan's existence since this accident, which we get into in Episode 7. It's also an accident that shows something that we... can't really talk about too much. We get information from this accident on a few fronts, not just the one that explains why she's in a wheelchair."

Question:  Do you have any scoop on Heroes?— Beth

Ausiello: Hiro's getting a honey! In the Nov. 13 episode, he crosses paths with a lady (Jayma Mays) on his way to New York, and she steals his heart. Oh, and Friday Night Lights fans will get a kick out of where they meet: a diner near Odessa, Texas.

Thanks for the interview, Bashful.  I have to admit, Claire (the cheerleader) is quite the hotty.  She's only a few years younger than me.

And I didn't know Nathan had a wife, and she was in a wheelchair!  Looks like we got another Wheelchair character who we don't know how they got into the wheelchair (cough cough LOCKE)

Appearing frequently throughout the series is a symbol which strongly resembles an RNA molecule. Said appearances include:

    * In the swimming pool at a double homicide crime scene in which Matt Parkman was involved.
    * As a recurring shape shown scrolling across a laptop screen in a genetic profiling program created by Chandra Suresh.
    * On a drawing done by Peter Petrelli.
    * Frequently painted by Isaac Mendez.
    * On a post-it note on the map in Mohinder Suresh's apartment.
    * Written on a geometry textbook owned by Claire Bennet.
    * Written on pictures in Sylar's apartment.
    * As a tattoo on the shoulder of Niki Sanders' alternate personality.
    * Engraved on the hilt of Future Hiro's katana.
    * Printed on the front of Chandra Suresh's book, Activating Evolution.
    * Printed on the upper left corner of the 14th issue of 9th Wonders comic book, written by Isaac Mendez (The 13th issue that Micah was reading did not have the symbol).
    * On a necklace around Mr. Bennet's special assistant's neck.
    * On a picture that Isaac drew of Niki.

Interesting.  Your avatar is of RNA, mine is of DNA.  Just thought I'd point that out.

I noticed that symbol a couple times in the show, but the geometry book and the katana?  I never noticed those, wow to the hardcore fans!
Title: Re: Heroes
Post by: Jeffrey Scott on November 02, 2006, 03:08:58 PM
Now we need Cole to change his avatar to NRA.
Title: Re: Heroes
Post by: RudyRules on November 06, 2006, 01:43:19 AM
LOL!  I'm happy to know what your Avatar is, Jeff!  I've been wondering & was going to ask you.  But until now, I didn't associate it w/ the symbol in Heroes.

I'm finally caught up watching the Heroes tapes.  Thanks everyone for you comments, which are helping me understand this show better.  That stuff with Niki is really far out and spooky.  (uh...a little scary.)

Ok, are Peter & Nathan bros?  And Nathan can fly, but Peter wants to and can't (yet)?
(Nathan played the last boyfriend of Judging Amy just before that series went South.)

I really like Hiro and his time stopping stuff, also the guy (name?) who reads minds.  (he had a major role in Alias.)

Also, Claire's power is intriguing (and spooky!).

This is really a great show!

Okay Rudy, an answer to your question. For those who are still catching up I"ll add a bit of spoiler space.

Yes, Peter and Nathan are brothers. No, Peter can not fly. His ability is called Mimic. He can copy the powers of people he's by. So if he's with his brother he can fly. If he's with Matt, he can read minds.
Title: Re: Heroes
Post by: TheCinera on November 06, 2006, 10:11:46 AM
OOO!!!  I never noticed that Peter could do that!  That is so cool.  So, if he was with Claire he could heal fast?  If he was with Hiro he could stop time and whatnot?  If he was with Sureesh, he could be incredibly smart about genetics?

I wish I had that power. :blume:
Title: Re: Heroes
Post by: Jeffrey Scott on November 06, 2006, 10:15:26 AM
Yea, I figured it out the night he was on the train and Hiro stopped time and everyone else stopped but him. That was his mimic power kicking in. Also, he finished that painting by himself, and without drugs. That was why when he jumped off the building he couldn't fly till he reached his brother then he began to.

Spoil-erific material
On NBC.com they have mini-graphic novels offered for those interested. For those, that have not seen them, but would like to know what’s included, I’ve decided to give the information here. Just for the record, most of the spoiled information is mostly just background info NBC may not include in the actual series, so calling this spoiler info may or may not be true.

(spoiler space)

Comic One: Monsters
Suresh recalls a story his mother told him of the Goddess Kali who wants to kill all of mankind. His dad reassured him there are no monsters. Suresh visits the cab company his father worked for and accepts a job to fill in for his father. The cab company has the taxi his father drove still, totaled from his ‘accident’.

Comic Two: The Crane
Hiro figures out a lesson his father taught him when he was given an Action comics #1. Having survived devastation, his father fought the ‘cancer’ from within, his mother named him after the devastation so they would never forget. Hiro believe he has not honored his father’s memory till now. He decides to change that and rips the comic up, making paper cranes and leaving them at a Hiroshima memorial.

Comic Three: Trial by Fire
Nathan thinks about what Peter was saying about flying. As he passes a burning building he hears a cry for help. Realizing the fire department will not get to her in time he flies up to rescue the lady. Back on the ground, she turns to thank him, but he’s gone already. She finds a Nathan candidate button on the ground and thinks to herself, “And I was going to vote for the other guy.”

Comic Four: Aftermath
After running the car into the wall, Clare begins to walk away. Suddenly the car catches on fire and she decides to go back and pull him out of the car, saving his life.

Comic Five: Snapshot
During an interrogation, DL somehow manages to slip out of his handcuffs. Back in his jail cell he concentrates on a picture of his wife and son, he is worried because he has tried to teach his son the importance of following rules. Deciding his family is too important, he slips out of his cell to freedom.

Comic Six: Stolen Time
Niki’s alter ego recalls how she teamed up with DL’s crew to procure two million dollars. When they try to double cross her, she kills them and takes them to a special spot in the desert.

how i met ur mother was a rerun i think....the newer ones are on wed or something.  The Class was on also last night...such a cute show.

So back to Heroes.
(spoiler space for those who missed last night)

Man there are more and more heroes each day!!

So Nicky's husband can go through solid surfaces??? and the son now can do something with electrical currents???

I did pick up a bit about nathan's wifes reason for being in a wheelechair.  if you heard the reporter he asked her if she was bitter towards her husband since he drove the car.  so i think it was a car accident.

I just love how they are melding everyone together!! can't wait til next week.

anyone else with views?

Yes, DL can 'phase' through objects, just reaching his hand through the window. I'm anxious for Hiro to hone his power to the point where he does not have to do that squint thing. I'm sure once he's practiced enough it will be instant.

As for the overall show, it was pretty mediocre but a lot of character development.
Title: Re: Heroes
Post by: TheCinera on November 07, 2006, 10:59:18 AM
Ceejay, "Mother" is only on TV on Mondays at 8.  Last night was new, last week was a repeat.

Back to Heroes:
Great episode, overall.  I enjoy the Hiro scenes the most.  I think I know why he is named Hiro.  Anecdote:  I was in my Fundamentals of Speech class today, and one of my classmates did a lecture on Japan's nuclear history, and he mentions Hiroshima.  Notice the first four words from that city are HIRO, and Hiro is from Japan, and there is a big bomb coming to NY.  God, I hope his last name isn't Shima.

I'm still a little confused about Micah's powers.  Remember his first scene in the first episode when he was playing with his computer?  We should have seen it earlier, I guess.  But what exactly did he do?  I'm confused.
Title: Re: Heroes

if you read the spoiler info I included earlier from the graphic novel, you'll see his mother named him Hiro as a reminder that they can survive tragedy.

I'm not sure about MIcah, I will have to rewatch the first episode. Maybe he was chatting with Walt.

Heroes: Does anyone have the link to the graphic novels?  For some reason, NBC.com is really slow for me.

Just bumping this thread up with a story from EW
DO LOST AND HEROES SHARE THE SAME WORLD?

A couple of weeks ago, I shared with you my theory that the exec producer of Heroes, Tim Kring, and the exec producer of Lost, Damon Lindelof, are in a secret creative alliance, and that their respective stories share a common backstory mythology. To wit: The Hanso Foundation/The Dharma Initiative is the agency responsible for the outbreak of super-powered humans in Heroes.

In response to the theory, Kring, who happens to be good friends with Lindelof, revealed that the two men have indeed discussed the idea of creating some kind of creative synergy between the two shows, although the reality of Lost and Heroes being on separate, competing networks makes that somewhat complicated if not impossible.

I recently had the chance to run all of this by Lindelof. For the record, when I asked him if it was true that he and Kring had discussed the possibility of a Heroes/Lost team-up, this was his reaction:

''Totally true. And if Hiro can teleport ANYWHERE, wouldn't YOU watch him team up with Hurley to find the rest of that four-toed statue?''

My answer: YES!

So, there was this BIG buildup for the show that aired this Monday, 11-20-06.
For those of you who watch this show:

Did the episode satisfy you?
Did you gain what you hoped from it?
Do you think this is dragging on too slowly?
Are we led to believe that all these people will somehow be coming together for something big?
Does anyone know what's in store for them in the future?

Yes, I am a bit inquisitive......and impatient.   :-[
I never did go back and watch the first 4 episodes from the beginning that I missed, and I know I should.

Interesting Graphic Novel back-story again. This time dealing with Eden.

**Possible Spoiler**

"Eden" grew up in a house where at an early age, her father walked out on the family, leaving her behind to live with her step-mother. For years, she kept quiet, hoping one day her father would return. Her step-mother berated her and told her she was to blame for her father leaving. Play time was not an option after school as chores took all evening. The little grew up to be a young women, and one night in one of her step mothers drunken rages, she was told her father left because of her. All the years of her being quiet came to a head and she yelled out "I wish you would just DIE!", to her step-mother. As soon as the words came out of her mouth, her step-mothers heart stopped beating. The lit cigarette held her in mouth dropped to the floor and ignited the cleaning chemicals Eden was cleaning with. The house burned down, but Eden got out. She met a stranger and asked if he would just drive her away from the place, he complied.

I don't think we'll find out tonight, CeeeJay.  It is all-new, but it supposedly goes back to 6months before the show started.  You know, maybe how they discovered their powers, and answering a bunch more questions we have.

It didn't look as thrilling as all the hype was telling us.  It was good, though, but tonight might be even better.

OH MY GOD!! WHAT A GOOD EPISODE...ALL MY QUESTIONS ARE ANSWERED

SYLAR (from the watch)...so he is kinda like Peter it seems...more those he "steals" their powers when he kills someone.

How Nathan's wife Angela ended up in the wheele chair.  How Eden got caught and forced to work for Mr Bennett...Nikky's alter ego is her dead sisters spirit getting revenge ...so much anger for a 9 year old..but i guess it was all the years of getting beat up by her father so Nikky wouldn't get hurt.

The epsiode ended off with Hiro loosing his powers....oh my whats going to happen next??!?!?!?!?
Title: Re: Heroes
Post by: Jeffrey Scott on November 28, 2006, 08:27:38 AM
I loved the back-stories more than I thought I would. It WAS a good story with one exception. I hated how they ended the Charlie story. There is no explaination of why Hiro was transported back to the future, and in Japan. Why? So she actually dies anyway, and then the writers just try to make us feel better by expaining away that she has a blood cot in the brain. What a rip-off! Is it just me, or was anyone else upset by that storyline?
Title: Re: Heroes
Post by: CeeeJay on November 28, 2006, 09:24:15 AM
i totally missed that part of charlie's brain clot..or did you read that somewhere???

so if Hiro was put back to the future to the first place he ever used his powers...are there two hiro's or just one?!?!?
Title: Re: Heroes
Post by: Jeffrey Scott on November 28, 2006, 09:26:37 AM
It was the scene when Hiro came outside and she was standing looking sad. She said she had a blood clot and was dying. He said he went back in time to save her and she replied he did because before he showed up, she wanted to give up.
Title: Re: Heroes
Post by: tanbuns on November 28, 2006, 09:53:26 AM
Although I thought Hiro and Charlie made a cute couple, she had to die so that Hiro would learn that he can't just keep going back in time to fix things he doesn't like. Plus, didn't Future Hiro say something to Peter about causing "time rifts"?

Title: Re: Heroes
Post by: TheCinera on November 28, 2006, 11:06:09 AM
Nikki's backstory was the best out of all three.  I wonder why we only saw her father this time?  Is he dead?  Did he go away like Jessica said?  I like the idea behind Nikki's powers, it all makes sense now!

I think Syler's powers is more of a stealing power than mimick powers.   Explains how he is able to do all those weird and gross things.

Hiro's story did suck.  I am still confused about how this Blood Clot plays into the entire plotline, I may have to re-watch it on NBC.com to figure it out.

Who do you think will die?  I think I know, because I went to IMDB.com during the episode and visited the Heroes page.  It said by someone's name (2006-2007) and the rest said (2006-).  I hope it's not him/her!
Title: Re: Heroes
Post by: Jeffrey Scott on November 28, 2006, 11:12:21 AM
I think the obvious person to die would be DL. We don't see much of him, but then again I think that would be too obvious. As far as the Jessica/Nicki story goes, I wonder if it might be her becuase her character is more evil than anyone else's. I guess I'll officially guess Nicki dies, though I'm not putting much credit into it. As we have seen, we know Peter and Hiro don't die. My only other guess would be Peter's brother. Claire would have to have her head chopped off, and Eden is too much of a bit player to make an effective shock for a death.

Any other thoughts?

The death doesn't have to be a shocker for NBC to play it up!!! So I could see possibly Eden or DL dying. But since they are playing up Niki/Jessica shooting DL, I will say it isn't him. It also won't be Peter's brother Nathan, because we saw early on where he wins the election. With the "save the cheerleader" campaign over, do we still need the painter, Isaac Mendez?

Since Syler takes the heroe's brains, maybe he took Charlie's blood clot along with it, and it will cause him problems down the road!!! LOL

We know Issac doesn't die because he dies right when NYC blows up (referencing the first episode when Hiro went to his place).  I can't say who, but I loved watching this person.

I keep forgetting about Isaac. I say he's easily replaceable. He may just as well die also. Wasn't his brain scooped out when Hiro went to the future?

Oh, I was sooooooo disappointed when Charlie was not saved by Hiro.  Sure, there must be special people die in this show, but why someone who is so sweet, smart and adorable?  I am not giving up that somehow someone will cause her to come back to life, and without the blod clot in the brain.  Yeah, I guess I'm an optimist....or out of touch with reality.  Oh, this isn't "real"......LOL.

Watching Heroes is giving me terrible anxiety!  The problem is just not knowing where all of this will end.  I like to have shows that are tied up with a bow and have a good ending.   :-\   So, we know that to save the world, they need to save the cheerleader.  She cannot die, or the show must die also.  Good battling evil....the show is so dark and twisted....it reminds me of being a kid trying to go to sleep, but just knowing any moment a monster is going to jump out of the closet!

I can't image what else he would do with the brain to acquire the power. As suresh said, the power would be focused in the brain, so if consumed, one would theorize the power would be consumed as well.

Yes, but he acquired the telekinesis from the guy he killed. How could he do that without consumption of the brain matter?
Or if the brain was not consumed, did he figure out a way to extract the chemicals and drink them?

It's kind of a fall finale; it's the last new episode until the new year.  I have no word when the next episode will air after this one, but it should be sometime in January.
Title: Re: Heroes
Post by: CeeeJay on December 05, 2006, 07:19:37 AM
did everyone watch it??

Nikki seems to flip back to Nikki when she hurts the ones she loves.  Eden is a moron cause Sylar now has her power and is escaping...Peter is the bomb??? I'm thinking he's surrounded by too many powers that he can't handle it and explodes!! Isaac....those eyes are insane..I guess he needs a true believer believing in him to get his power going.....Pretty good episode but still not as good as the last.  So Mr Bennett...what is his story...he neutralizes everyone's powers???!?!!!?! The static that Peter kept talking about.
Title: Re: Heroes
Post by: Jeffrey Scott on December 05, 2006, 08:48:05 AM
The Haitian has mind powers, though different from Matt. He can block telepathy and can use his mind to erase portions of people's memory. As for Mr. Bennett, it looks like he's truly trying to care for his daughter. But perhaps he is evil after all??

Did Sylar escape? When I saw Eden with the gun, she drew it up and he looked pissed. Etiher she was able to shoot him, or she shot herself stopping him from taking her power. What does everyone else think?

HMMMMMMMM I HAVE NO CLUE...BUT WE HAVE TO WAIT TO FIND OUT!! HAITIAN DOESN'T WANT TO ERASE CLAIRE'S MIND...MAYBE HE CARES MORE THAN HER FATHER AND THE HAITIAN IS NOT SO BAD AFTER ALL???
Title: Re: Heroes
Post by: Jeffrey Scott on December 05, 2006, 09:45:41 AM
What ever became of the nukelor man? Did he die? I don't recall. Maybe Peter somehow takes on his powers and that's what originally causes the bomb to go off.
Title: Re: Heroes
Post by: TheCinera on December 05, 2006, 10:26:27 AM
I think the nuclear man died, but we didn't get the full comfirmation yet.  I was thinking, at first, that he was the explosion in NY but it looks otherwise.

Peter: the bomb?  I didn't expect that.  Now, how did all the heroes come to New York at the same time?  What did Claire say to Peter before he 'blew up'?

Title: Re: Heroes
Post by: Jeffrey Scott on December 05, 2006, 10:41:24 AM
The question I have is how did Peter get that premonition? Did someone he walk past have that power?
Title: Re: Heroes
Post by: Bashful on December 05, 2006, 10:45:44 AM
Eden wasn't a moron, though she clearly underestimated Sylar's abilities.  When he saw the gun in her hand he said, "You know you can't hurt me with that" or something to that effect.  She then shot herself in the head to prevent Sylar from taking on her powers.

Claire's father has always appeared suspicious to me and I don't feel he is trustworthy.  The Haitian (what's his name?) may be very helpful, I am thinking.  But then, that is what we are supposed to believe, perhaps?

Peter is such a good guy with an honest heart, and his brother is just AWFUL!  He's puts Peter down all the time which makes me crazy.  When is Nathan going to see the whole picture and realize Peter is not a slacker and a loser?

Oh, in last week's episode was Nathan's car crash which paralyzed his wife.  He was suddenly lifted out of the car and hovering, so to speak, as the car crashed.  That was 6 months prior to the present.  I don't recall any explanation for that happening to him and he didn't discuss it with anybody.  Was he aware of his powers at that time?
Title: Re: Heroes

The question I have is how did Peter get that premonition? Did someone he walk past have that power?
How come I never thought of that?!  Good eye, Jeff.

Bashful, they mentioned in that episode that that was the day he discovered he could fly.  It was brought on by the nervousness or anxiety, or whatever feeling he experienced before the car crash.  Notice how he wasn't able to control it, but now he can.

The Talking Schtick
by Edge

Read Heroes:How do you stop an exploding man? (a theory)

here's my theory: Peter has the ability of taking over - albeit temporarily - the abilities of THOSE next to him. Sometimes the combined effects can clash (see the scene with the mind reader)
In the vision of the future, Peter is next to all heroes - and somehow, it's their combined abilities in Peter that produce the explosion.
"How do you stop an exploding man?"
"Save the Cheerleader (than) save the world"? - I think it's Claire who needs to return the favor and be the one jumping in the explosion, causing Peter to only take over her restorative powers.
One more thing: I suspect Claire's father knows this - he too has a power - and it's the reason for all his actions.
The thing I do like about this is that the very effort of the heroes of saving the world - by coming together - next to Peter - is what creates the danger.
The inkling that Claire's father may know - what he said to Sylar about the effect of adding too many DNAs to his own on his own mind, body.
Of course, a confrontation between Peter-Sylar has to occur at one point since they seem to be opposites

hey jeff they finally showed the tatoo on nikki's back very visible !!
Title: Re: Heroes
Post by: tanbuns on December 05, 2006, 12:50:08 PM
I thought the last 3 or 4 episodes have been great, and are answering a lot of our questions (along with creating new ones!!! LOL)

As far as Peter's "premonition", I thought of it more as a dream, like the one he had in the first episode when he dreamed about flying. But in this latest dream, he could see people he is yet to meet. (Niki, DJ, and Micah)

Bashful ..... I too believe Mr. Bennett has an ability. Something like the power to neutralizes other powers. He wasn't affected by Eden's power in the flashback episode, and he also wasn't affected by Sylar while in the cell with him.

And speaking of Eden ...... my initial thoughts were that Sylar had used her power against her, and forced her to kill herself. But since he hadn't stolen her brain yet, I now believe she killed herself to keep him from getting her power.

Yes ..... I saw the tattoo also. Is that what your avatar is Jeffery?
Title: Re: Heroes
Post by: Jeffrey Scott on December 05, 2006, 01:29:50 PM
My avatar is of the RNA. CeeeJay, though a technicality. We didn't see the tatoo on Nikki's shoulder, it was on Jessica's shoulder. Speaking of Nikki/Jessica; looks like Nikki is starting to get some sort of control over Jessica. I thought that was a nice touch of turning herself in. It's obvious she really does not want Jessica's help, and that may help her gain the mastery over her.

So if Peter has the hots for Claire... ewwwww, that's his niece.

Who is Matt?  I'm having trouble keeping up with SO MANY characters!   >:(   I never went back to watch the first 4 episodes I missed, so I still feel in the dark a bit.

I'm enjoying the addition of Christopher Eccleston and can't wait to see what happens with him next.

Someone brought up a question about the roach crawling by Sylar when he was in the cell.  I also wonder what may be revealed about that later.

I loved how Hiro thought of a way to make his father, sister and himself happy in the end.  He courageously stood his ground yet showed his father how his sister is really the one to take over the company.

So far I am enjoying the writing of the show. It's fast-paced and always has something happening to keep us interested.  This is a huge ensemble cast of very talented people.  I'm lovin' it!    :jam:

So how does everyone think about last night's episode?

It was an intense one last night.  I can't believe the Gieco Caveman has nuclear powers.  If he was that mad at Geico for their slogan, "So easy a caveman can do it!", then why isn't he blowing up their house intead of a poor Paper Factory manager?   ???

But seriously, who thought it was creepy to see Claire at the end when she walked out the house after it exploded somewhat?  I know I was taken aback a little.

I thought that "hot" guy looked familiar!  Caveman!  LOL

Yeah, who knew Claire's dad was really just trying to protect her?  I went from hating him to having some sympathy for him.  So, Eric Roberts is the big bad guy now!  He's got that sleazy, smarmy look for it, lol.

I just found this thread and am so happy there are huge Heroes fans here.  I totally love the show.  The season finale was excellent.  Hiro is my favourite character and he is so funny as well as Ando.  I was pleased that Hiro had the honour of driving his sword into Sylar to kill him as it was drawn out by the comic book from Issac.  I look forward to season 2 and I loved how they ended it with Hiro in Japan in the 1600's, I certainly hope that somehow Ando is with him on that adventure.  My husband noticed at the end that Sylar must still be alive as when they panned over the scene were he was laying, it was just blood and the manhole cover was up.

Now that I watched the rest of the show, I see that the english man is showing up again ???

Claire is falling for a another Hero at her school :-*  who can fly like Nathan

Nathan is a drunk  :jam:

And Peter is back!!! He does not know who he is though.

Next week we see Silas!

great episode last night...too funny about the English man!!

So this kid at school can fly..but there has to be something more as they haven't repeated any powers....peter is more powerful and he looked a lot bigger and had the symbol on his necklace.....his mom and hiro's dad are a target...well hiro's dad was "taken care of" but things are not always what they seem to be in this show.  So has Hiro altered the future ? What about Nikki and Mika...wahts going on with them....What is Maya's power the Mexican woman?? So many questions...is it monday yet!! lol

I don't know about Maya, but it seems that she is something like Nikki. She knows that she kills people, but does not know why she does anything. All in all I think next week will answer a lot of our questions.

And what is going on with the little girl, that the policeman has taken, she was wild when he asked about the pictures she drew.

I never liked Nathans Mom anyway, it will be interesting to see how they will knock her off.

I can't believe it is only Tuesday :groan:

morning blondie!!

Ya I completely agree with you .... Nathans mom was so obnoxious!! I'm glad to see her with less power...whats her deal wtih Hiro's father and that picture?!??!?!?!?!?

Its possible its similar to Nikki but how I already mentioned I doubt they would duplicate a power.

Molly...my gosh she went CRAZY!!! She sees Maya...because she drew the Eyes open with the scratch on the face...I'm thinking Maya is more like a "less evil" version of Silar.....who knows  6 more days to find out!! lol

With the Honduras couple, it almost seemed like her brother is somehow able to stop her power from activating. I think its something more of a mental ability as all the victims were bleeding out of their eyes. Maybe some kind of a heightened mental blast? I'm assuming she just doesn't know how to control it.

As for Clare's new 'friend', I thought something was up right away. Considering he can fly, I was wondering if he's not Clare's brother? Perhaps he can fly like his father? Yea, it's a stretch, but think of the 'ew' figure, considering previews for next week.

Molly is really scared of the new guy who can find her. Was Matt reading his mind in hers, or did the guy detect Matt? I was a little hazy about that.

I totally noticed that.  It was in the square. I must say that initially when Hiro's father was killed I thought that it was Peter who was the one who did it before we found out he was in Ireland in the shipment container.  I have a feeling as though Nathan or the company put him there.

Just my opinion here, but did anyone else not like the addition of the new characters the other night, and I know that they are adding more, but to me it just made it more confusing.  Perhaps I will like one of the other ones, but the two in Mexico were not my cup of tea.  And where were Nikki and DL?  Perhaps it would have been best to introduce the new characters in the second episode and let us catch up on the aftermath of last season in the first episode and then expand the cast.  (JMO and a little venting too.)

Season 2-Episode 2-Lizards

Claire explores her ability by cutting off her pinky toe and seeing what happens. West finds out. Peter gets beaten up, discovers he has lots of cool abilities, then agrees to work for the Irish gangsters in exchange for information about his identity. The Haitian comes down with the supervirus and returns to Haiti. Mohinder cures him and sends him to Noah. Maya and Alejandro reach Guatemala. A family friend gets the bleeding eyes, but Alejandro saves her. And Hiro masquerades as Kensei, makes Yaeko think that Kensei's awesome, and watches Kensei die and come back to life.

Lots of new powers introduced this week.

I tried to research the symbol and this is what I found.

The helix is a symbol that appears quite frequently throughout the series. The helix symbol consists of an "S" shape from which three lines extend, with two on the left and one on the right. Michael Green explained that the symbol is simply known within the writers' room as "the helix".[22]

In the episode "Godsend", the symbol appears on the sword hilt, and Ando Masahashi remarks that it appears to be a combination of two Kanji characters: 才 (Sai) meaning "Great Talent" and 与 (Yo) meaning "Godsend". During an interview at the Wizard World in Los Angeles, writer and co-producer Aron Coleite stated that it literally means "God sending great ability."[22] Other characters have commented on the symbol; in the Heroes comic "It Takes a Village, Part 3", the Haitian's father draws the symbol as a representation of a snake who assimilated a crane's wings after eating the crane whole. The symbol also frequently appears as a pattern formed by mundane objects, but it also recurs on certain plot-significant items and on several characters:

    * On Peter Petrelli's 'stick drawing' while in hospital.
    * Horizontally on the computer screen while Mohinder Suresh is running his father's program.
    * On various paintings by Isaac Mendez.
    * On Jessica's back whenever she surfaces as Niki's alternate personality. When Jessica is repressed, the symbol does not appear on Niki's back. This also appeared on a painting of "Jessica" by Isaac. The symbol was hidden under an extra layer of paint. Later on, Jessica hides the symbol (an apparent tattoo) under a layer of foundation makeup.
    * On the front of Dr. Chandra Suresh's book, Activating Evolution.
    * As the publisher logo on the top left corner of the 9th Wonders comic.
    * As a logo for Primatech Paper, in "Company Man".
    * On jewelry, most notably the Haitian's necklace, Hana Gitelman's earrings and ring, and Peter's necklace when he is found in a shipping container in Cork (a necklace similar to the Haitian's).
    * In the 'Jittetsu Arms - Bladesmith' advertisement in the Phone Book, in "Landslide".
    * On the flag and katana of Takezo Kensei in 1671, as witnessed by Hiro Nakamura.
    * In Molly Walker's drawings of her nightmares, as a scar on someone's face.
    * As a sign of impending assassination, drawn across people's faces in pictures; two such messages are delivered to Angela Petrelli and Kaito Nakamura, via a torn picture of the two.
    * As the logo for Mr. Petrelli's law firm, as stated in "Lizards".
    * As a snake with the wings of a crane in the Haitian's vision in the graphic novel Chapter 53 "The Crossroads".
    * As rocks on the ground by the Haitian in the graphic novel Chapter 53 "The Crossroads".

Recurring elements

Three elements appear repeatedly throughout the series: the helix, the scar, and the eclipse. The scar appears to be man-made, but the circumstances surrounding the helix — its meaning and its manifestations — are a slowly-unraveling mystery.

Scar

A mark consisting of two black parallel lines has been shown close to the neck of multiple super-powered characters. The mark is the scar left by the two-pronged needle of a pneumatic injection device,[23][24] which, as revealed in a biography of Hana Gitelman in the Heroes 360 experience, injects a radioisotope to allow tracking.[25] All of the marked characters have had encounters with Mr. Bennet and/or the Haitian. The following have displayed it:

    * Matt Parkman
    * Ted Sprague
    * Hana Gitelman
    * Claude
    * Isaac Mendez
    * West

 Eclipse

In addition to being the series logo, a solar eclipse has been a recurring image in the series itself, though a terrestrial eclipse (an eclipse in which the Earth covers the Sun, as viewed from some observation point away from the Earth) is used in the series' title sequence. So far, the solar eclipse has appeared as:

    * The background of the title card of the series.
    * A painting by Isaac Mendez.
    * A "global event" in "Genesis".
    * A future event referenced in a newspaper.
    * A picture in Mohinder Suresh's apartment.
    * The reflection of a light in a hospital waiting room in "Six Months Ago".
    * An event during Hiro Nakamura's visit back to 17th century Japan in "How to Stop an Exploding Man" and "Four Months Later...".

Also, do all of these people have powers, or just a few? I'm thinking Nathans mother (what is her name?) Has telepathic abilities like Matt. Linderman could heal plants and flowers, Bob is a transmuter, what about the others?

Didn't Charles DeV have some kind of a power to enter a persons subconscious, or dream state or something like that? I'm thinking of the time Peter visited him, and was hidden, but he knew Peter was there. I'm rewatching the first season now, but wasn't Peter back in time or something?

Thanks CeeeJay, I am working on all the characters bio's with photo's, I think that will help keep us straight.  This is what I know about Charles.

Charles Deveaux                    father of Simone Deveaux and a    (deceased)   former patient of Peter Petrelli.

After finding success via the stock market, he founded the Deveaux Society to "fund causes that bettered the world."  He owned the Deveaux Building, the rooftop of which is a frequently-visited location in the series.

Charles appeared, whether as a dream figure, as part of a time-travel journey of Peter's, or by some other mechanism is left deliberately unclear — and seemed able to see Peter while the latter is invisible to others in the dream (Such as his mother and Simone). Charles was part of a previous generation of "heroes", with Angela Petrelli and Kaito Nakamura, and he seemed to be aware of Linderman's and Angela Petrelli's plot. However, he seemed to be quietly opposed to their machinations, and firmly believed that Peter's love and compassion, rather than Nathan's ambition, would save the world.

In season 2, Kaito implies that Charles' death may have been due to foul play, rather than by succumbing to his illness.

Bell will be starring as another Elle when Heroes hits the airwaves this fall.

Elle is a sexy, mysterious lady -- sounds a lot like Jessica Collins' character -- with connections to Peter, Claire and Mr. Bennet. Reports say that the character will commit a serious crime when she appears in October, but her true alignment will be up in the air.

Will she be a Suresh or a Sylar?

I say she kills Sylar.
Title: Re: Heroes
Post by: Blondie on October 19, 2007, 09:00:55 AM
Bell's character, Elle, has not been fully exposed to fans at this point.  She may be good, she may be evil, but the barest of indications is that she is definitely a force to reckon with.  At one point there was some talk from the Heroes camp that Bell would fill the role of an in-development character who would be someone that had been aware of their powers far longer than most of the heroes we have met up until this point.

Of course, the rumor mill has Bell playing the mysterious assassin that has been knocking off the consortium.  Still more speculation has Bell being a façade for the insidious “Boogie Man.”

I just picked up the Heroes season one DVD. Really enjoying it so far, and will be looking for more notes on things I've missed. Saw the original pilot episode, most of it was the same, but there were some minor plot points that were different. One of the most notable was Ted Sprague being found in Molly's house, and no mention of Sylar.

Bell and Kring let us in a little on her character saying that she’s unlike most of the heroes we’ve seen to date as she really loves and has embraced her power. Elle was raised by The Company and serves as a cautionary tale of what can happen when someone is fully aware of all her power her whole life and doesn’t just discover it on her own. As for what her power is, Bell and Kring wouldn’t confirm (although there’s been rampant speculation that Elle’s power is somehow related to electricity), but they did say that Elle is “a little messed up in the head” and has “very few boundaries”. Added Bell, [Elle] “doesn’t have the ability to decipher right from wrong” and her intense personality lends itself to Elle’s moral ambiguity. Elle is strong in her convictions and her actions and whatever she is doing she wholeheartedly thinks she’s doing the right thing. Whether she’s a hero or a villain might not be obvious at first…but is it ever?

When we first meet Elle she’s going to be on the hunt for Peter Petrelli. Although it’s a little unclear as to what their relationship is, Elle has ties to Peter’s disappearance and seems to have a lot of info about Peter’s past. It might be a little bit before we truly understand Elle’s relationship with Peter because although she appears in episode 5, we won’t see Elle again until episode 8 during which we will learn a whole lot more about this mysterious new hero. But Peter isn’t the only hero Elle is connected to. Kring and Bell also told us that she has ties to HRG and Claire, whom supposedly Elle has an “interesting connection” to. And don’t be surprised if Suresh knows a thing or two about Elle - they also have some kind of tie.

I say she kills Sylar.

Okay we know she is a killer.  When Hiro's Dad (Keito) was pushed off of the building, he said I never would have thought it was you. I have always thought that robed person was a woman. It was a small person, that looked to me like a woman.

We know she has had and known about her powers for a long time, so probably knows all of the first generation company members/

But then again, I think if she can't fly, it is not her. I was also thinking about West, because he is kinda small framed, but unless he knows the company, which with his explaination of  how he was on his bike then in his room, I don't know if he would know the company, but maybe he is not telling everything he knows.

Any Ideas?

I am not sure, my vote is going with Bell
Title: Re: Heroes
Post by: Jeffrey Scott on October 19, 2007, 09:35:55 AM
It could be West, though I don't think so. I will agree there is something not 'right' about him.
I think if Bell is the huntress, she has the power to manipulate others. Making Keito jump off the building, and Peters mother mauling herself.
What made me think that was when it was revealed her wounds were self-inflicted.

Title: Re: Heroes

Now I am positive that they are romantically involved.  Do you think she might be related to Claire, maybe a sister or something. We also know that Peter blows up in the sky again and she must be the one who brings him back or something, but does not know where he comes back too ???

Title: Re: Heroes
Post by: CeeeJay on October 23, 2007, 07:20:08 AM
if she was related to Claire that would mean she's related to Peter so that throws the theory of them being romantic out the door.

So Bell is the lightening girl and she kills Holt McCallany, Katie Carr's brother (i'm guessing thats who he is)

Peter painted a scene in Montreal on Blvd St Laurent downtown old Montreal

Parkman's father is the boogie man did a  really neat scene when he put both Nathan and Parkman in the same room but locked them in their dreams and ended up fighting eachother but once Parkman read Nathan's mind he realised waht was going on and snapped them both out of it.

Nikki went back to the Company because she thinks she's out of control

Micha and his cousin experiment w/ his cousin's new found power to learn things by just watching them.

We learn that Bell is working for the company and her father...so either she's Bob's daughter or Mr Bennette....so I have NO clue most likely bob's "daughter"
Title: Re: Heroes
Post by: Jeffrey Scott on October 23, 2007, 08:31:49 AM
I would think she's Bob's daughter as everyone else seems to have a parent in the original group. And I agree, she's not related to Claire.
So is Micah not important to the company?
What is wrong with Nikki, why does she trust the company?

Yeah I forgot that Peter and Claire were related, but they did not know each other until 4 months ago ???
did Bell say that she worked for the company?  I must have missed that, all I heard her say was that it was her assignment and okay Daddy. I didn't know she was working for the company now.

Mollie said that Parkmens Dad was the Bad Dream Man and that he was worse than the boogeyman, so I think the boogeyman is somebody else.

Niki went back to the company, because they told her that they could cure her. That is why she trusts them.

As far as who Bells Dad is, Lordy it could be anybody! We already know that Mama Petrelli has a little fling with Hiro's Dad, how far fetched would it be to think that Mr. Petrelli has a little something going on with another on of the twelve? Who knows, maybe they were all sleeping around trying to pass on their powers and mix up the gene pool ???

 Monica 9th wonders, St. Joan ? ???

Mohinder, since they've explained that his blood-healing doesn't come from any dna-based power, but instead as a natural development of antibodies after being exposed to the disease in the womb, does he have a power you think?  Because if you are human you are immune to the virus, if you are a hero you are not ??? I am confusing myself  :lol3:
