Michael “Ashley” Cox and Michael “John” Bric were both kicked off of Australia’s sixth Big Brother after they allegedly assaulted a female houseguest.
One of the two men “held down a female housemate while [the other] male contestant rubbed his groin in her face,” Reuters reports. A blog has screen captures of the incident, noting that it was John who held Camilla down while Ashley rubbed his penis on her face.
But while Internet watchers saw the incident, footage of the incident will not air on TV. And police will make no arrests. “After watching tapes and interviewing contestants, police have decided there is not enough evidence to support a criminal investigation into accusations of a sexual assault,” the Sydney Morning Herald reports. The two men will reportedly appear on TV tonight to talk about the incident.
As a result of all this, Australia’s Prime Minister John Howard wants the show taken off the air. “I think it is just a question of good taste. Here is a great opportunity for Channel Ten to do a bit of self-regulation and get this stupid program off the air,” he said today.
The show has also shown “regular nudity, footage of contestants showering and sexual activity in a hot-tub,” the BBC reports, and last month, an “adults only” uncut version was cancelled because of controversy.

Right. At least the sex on BBUK is consentual. Yet it is there for all to see on the live feeds. I guess that makes it ok.

It was not an episode, it was a live feed. I found the video clip when surfing the web several months ago, so it could have been a previous BBUK season. Sorry, I didn't write down the info, and I'd rather not go looking for it. I'm not going to bash Big Brother over and over just because I find it distasteful. I just felt the need to comment about this one thing. End of story. We all have different tastes, and to each his own.

'Big Brother' under fire down under
Oz politicians demand show is killed off

SYDNEY — For the second year running Channel Ten's and Endemol Southern Star's "Big Brother" has become a political football with conservative politicians baying for its blood after two male housemates, Ashley and John, were evicted from the show for alleged sexual harassment.
The incident, which did not air on the show but was seen via the Internet feeds, was referred to police who have decided not to follow it up. The female housemate, Camilla, who was involved in the incident has requested that no action be taken.
Network Ten and Endemol Southern Star issued a statement saying they took the incident seriously but reaf-firmed their commitment to the reality skein. "Ash and John were evicted because they broke the rules of housemate conduct. 'Big Brother' is very popular, as evidenced by the strong and broad audiences it draws every night of the week, and will remain on air."
But the new allegations have sent Oz's politicians into a spin with the opposition leader Kim Beazley calling for Ten to "make this 'Big Brother' the last" and Conservative member of parliament Steve Fielding suggesting the show be "evicted".
Politicians on both sides of parliament have also asked watchdog the Australian Communications and Media Authority to investigate.
The late night adults-only version of the show — which was subject to controversy last year when a male housemate exposed his genitals to a female housemate — was axed last month after complaints from Conservative M.P.s.
Ten was in Canberra to discuss changes to the media ownership laws with politicians and the skein was used as leverage when they were told in no uncertain terms by National Party senator Barnaby Joyce that they were "doing themselves no favors arguing for reforms while 'Big Brother' was still on the air."
Prime Minister John Howard also waded in to the debate.
"The business community is always saying to me: 'Let us self-regulate,' " he said. "Well here's a great opportunity for Channel Ten to do a bit of self-regulation and get this stupid program off the air."
But as for the main program Ten will likely resist calls for its demise with the brouhaha doing little harm to auds as the Sunday night edition, which dealt with the incident, drawing an aud of 1.5 million.

I don't get this, in real life, I don't stand around with a group of people talking about bouffant hairdos, cuz I DON'T CARE about bouffant hairdos!! I'm pretty sure I don't even like bouffant hairdos, but I'm not going to subject myself to all that tedious talk to find out for sure!!

Naw, I don't have 'that' happen a lot, whatever 'that' is. As for Big Brother, I think I've maybe made 2 negative comments. Even though I do not watch a lot of reality shows, I do read some of the forums. I wonder, maybe someone's comment will spark an interest in another show. Or maybe I'll learn what the appeal is to that particular reality series.
I do enjoy RFF, however, because there are other reality shows that I do enjoy. I like it here.
That doesn't mean I will always agree with everyone. I'm not trying to pick any fights, by any means. But I do feel I should be allowed to disagree.
Ray....you can do watch whatever you want, but I won't be watching Hell's Kitchen either! :lol3:

I didn't mean to sound as if I was attacking Jeff, but I was definitely making the point that those kinds of things DO happen on BBUK. I'm sorry that I have nothing to backup the fact that I saw the clip of 2 housemates on BBUK having sex. I wasn't looking for it, and I didn't note which episode or season it was from.
People who enjoy Big Brother will not care what I say and will continue to enjoy it, and that's fine. I was only making a point, and surely didn't mean to stir up a big mess. I'm not here to antagonize anyone.
I will not comment about Big Brother again. I'll just stick to the shows I enjoy.

Jeff, I just wanted to say that I was already going to write a response concerning the scandal in the Australian Big Brother house. It just happened that your post was next, and I was hasty in choosing my words.
I truly appreciate that you have exercised (I am guessing) tremendous restraint and self-control by NOT blasting back at me. As I said before, it was not my intent to single you out, but it did look that way. Please accept my apologies.
Besides 'gullible', my other middle names are 'impulsive' and 'tactless'...and probably a few other choice words you may be thinking. :-[
